Reviews of Thurmaston Shopping Centre
J. N.
Over the years the shopping centre has improved with the change of outlets. There is a good balance of clothing and accessories retail, home items and beauty items.
Length of visits are limited due to lack of customer toilets and the automated number plate cameras.
The shopping centre is a convenient alternative to a trip into the city centre.
J. M.
Great centre. Bought shoes at sports direct, better service than my local store. Nice big Dunelm. Very useful. Big Asda also The centre can get very busy at peak times with a queue onto the A46 roundabout but you can normally find a parking space.
A.
Fantastic shopping center, great range of shops from TKMaxx and Dunhelm to McDonald's and M&S Food there's a great range for all your needs. The only issue is sometimes parking can be a little tight for spaces. M&S Food is the main reason I come, those Percy pigs are addictive.
I. W.
Very popular and busy little retail park. Boots Poundland H&M Sports Direct etc. Parking bit of a lottery as maybe not enough space for the amount of shops. Could always park across the road at Asda
J. A.
You can get mostly everything you need in terms of clothing items and bathroom products. There is a Starbucks for a cuppa your fav stuff. There's also a pizza hut for some odd reason. Does anybody still go pizza hut? But if you're going shopping for clothes, it's better you go highcross. Prices are not that different and there's more variety and generally a better experience, especially when you n kids start to get hungry/thirsty, do you really wanna go Starbucks or Pizza hut? Mind you there is a McDonald's with their ever decreasing portions yet increasing prices.
K. J.
Sports soccer for football's and socks, Poundland for sanding paper and then Asda B&Q for mini rollers. Finished off with a Maccy D's. Not a bad Sat afternoon.
Parking can get a bit mad but it's free so......
E. C.
Good variety of shops ranging from value to quality and pharmacies too. Plenty of takeaways. Only downside is the car park is full at peak times and no cashpoints except in Poundland
E. S.
Great retail park with loads of shops! The only bad thing is that it can be extrwmwly busy so parking can be impossible! They definitely need to sort out this problem!
C. N.
They have plenty of options in shops and have McDonald's and Pizza hut for food. Buy only backdrop is parking. Always difficult to find one and slow moving traffic in parking.
N. R.
Went to M&S. A very good food shop. Excellent service. Parking good.
N. M.
Big shopping center on the outside of the city, good location and easy to reach. Here you will find different shops from a starbuck coffee to sportswear and a McDonald come and enjoy ample parking.
B. A.
All in all not a bad shopping area if you don't want to travel all the way into Leicester
P. C.
Parking spaces are very tight but shops are great for a quick trip.
M. D.
Parking restrictions in place so be careful - tickets have been issued for minor overstays meaning you can't shop in different stores as there's not enough time before a fine is incurred.
J. D.
Womble needed some wool from Hobby Craft. Easy drive into the car park with plenty of spaces. Hobby Craft was well stocked, friendly and covid safe . Visited Boots and Dunhelm both easy and safe. Nice shopping centre and worth a visit.
J. S.
Good variety of shopping experiences from food to household goods to clothing and hobbies. Great shops plenty of parking and cafe inside Dunelm for snacks and pizza hut for hungrier appetites
M. d. F.
Dunelm, TKMax & a large branch of Boots are located here at Thurmaston, as are many other well known store brands, PLUS the usual & popular fast food outlets. No wonder then that it's frequently so busy.
Given that this Shopping Centre is popular, why have I never yet found a public loo when I need one, disabled or otherwise, I'm not fussy when it's urgent..! This needs to be put right!
If there's a public loo available, please tell stores staff & maybe they'll tell the public!
Also, how come I invariably have trouble parking my car? No, it's not my driving (really!) It's the ridiculously narrow spaces & few disabled (very slightly wider) spots to be found where there's a minimal walk to the places I want to shop?
Quick lesson for those without mobility disabled family or friends (or limited imagination!) if it's a good energy day & we want to use up the energy we have walking around a store, please don't add to our problems by asking us to use that limited energy walking FROM a distant car park TO the store!
This is why we get frustrated when non-Blue Badge drivers thoughtlessly use those precious few disabled parking spaces.
What was it I heard once.. being a dork does not mean you're disabled!!
Rant over.
Z. T.
Great little shopping centre with plenty of free parking, it can get quite busy at the weekends. You can always pop into Costco and Asda which are close by too.
L. T.
There is a good variety of shops here.
Parking very close to shops .
A. H.
Good wide choice of retail outlets. Could do with a little more parking especially at peak times
T. V.
Many Stores, with a Mc D and ample parking space. Also Asda superstore and a Cosco is less than 10 min walk
K. A.
A range of business at this shopping centres and a McDonald's. You could literally get lost in here spending an entire day shipping for clothes and home furnishings and there is even an Asda close by. The car park is always packed and so sometimes you can't find a place.
S. M.
A good selection of highstreet stores and really easy to get to but the parking is not adequate enough.
A. F.
Plenty of shops, food and drink available, high standards of cleanliness, parking a struggle at times, just because there's not enough of it
K. S.
This Shopping Centre is let down, especially at weekends, by huge queues to get in and out along with very tight parking spaces that are badly marked. Many drivers do not see the worn out direction arrows, some ignore them, so the parking is manic. The mini roundabout entrance is totally unfit for purpose. Once you get in to park the range of shops is pretty good. Best to go in the midweek avoiding school times. The weekends are likely to be frustrating and you are very likely to find your car marked from a door opening on it.
H. A.
This place is good but it gets super busy at the weekend and you can que for a while to get in and park. Good variety of shops though
G. S.
Great little shopping centre on outskirts of Thurmaston. M&S, Next, Dunelm, TK Max, etc. Only gripe is not enough parking space, the bays are too narrow and access roads get blocked at peak times.
B. C.
Great range of shops but the parking and access is completely unsuitable.
The left hand turn towards Greggs is too tight and causes queues onto the roundabout.
R. W.
Very friendly staff in pound shop and hobby craft but parking get very congested at times we went 10.30am
R. W.
It is what it is. I went to Dunelm Mills to collect some vases. Fast service.
R. C.
Be careful if you nip up in the morning and back in the afternoon, you can easily get a parking fine sent to you saying you've been there for 8 hours.
C. T.
Lots of really good shops but it is really busy and it can be difficult to find a parking place even at times you'd think it'd be quiet.
l. b.
Always love this place, convenient and lots of parking. I love the stores too
J. S.
Shops are OK but the car parking is poor. Too tight for modern vehicles.
N. H.
Getting into the car park is sometimes tricky but good variety of shops. Be careful of the no return within 2 hours though and max 4 hours in the car park.
P. F.
Good shopping centre with a variety of shops. Very busy at peak times with busy car park.
A. S.
Decent range of shop. Parking is always a bit tight, may need better way to navigate round it to be honest. I avoid it at the weekends,it's more or less all standstill
L. “. M.
Nice small area but poor access in car big bottle neck and not enough car parking spots
A. C.
Good selection of shops but parking bays are super tight
D. C.
Cleaning the walk area's need attention rubbish everywhere and drinks stains on the slabs outside Starbucks and Greg's brings the experience down a lot
S. J.
Such a nice shopping centre to go around with lots of good shop’s to look in .
H. a.
Normal poundland
Take away the mad drivers trying to park everywhere and anywhere and it's a good little spot
T. M.
This must be in the top 10 worst car park designs in northern central Leicester.
Tight corners, tight spaces, careless drivers.
The selection of shops is okay to good for the convienace but it gets very busy.
A. A.
Lovely place for foods and shopping you can get everything.
M. B.
Although it's usually quite busy here, the parking is great and I'm always able to find a space. Has all the shops I need, plus a handy little pizza hut for lunch. Me and my daughter enjoy going here to get out the house for a few hours
M. C.
Found this little gem whilst out driving, great shops, not over busy either. Will definitely re visit
H. J.
Love the choices here. Sports, beauty, homewares, accessories, poundland crafts pizza n maccy ds, plus over the road asda.
A. C.
Lovely Car Park... One of the Best!
M. D.
Parking restrictions in place so be careful - tickets have been issued for minor overstays meaning you can't shop in different stores as there's not enough time before a fine is incurred.
T. V.
Many Stores, with a Mc D and ample parking space. Also Asda superstore and a Cosco is less than 10 min walk
E. H.
Got parked ok
Got everything we wanted from the different shops all in all good shopping trip .
M. B.
Although it's usually quite busy here, the parking is great and I'm always able to find a space. Has all the shops I need, plus a handy little pizza hut for lunch. Me and my daughter enjoy going here to get out the house for a few hours
Y. N.
Good variety of shops, been visiting her for years.
J. S.
Love shopping here. Everything in one place
B. C.
Great range of shops but the parking and access is completely unsuitable.
The left hand turn towards Greggs is too tight and causes queues onto the roundabout.
A. C.
Variety of homeware and craft shops with couple of clothes shops, discount store and m&s food.
Fast food and Asda near by on the round about.
Tight parking and corners to get in. Not much space to move around.
Wheelchair accessible and pushchair accessible.
Not sure on public toilets
R. E.
Great shopping area with free parking. Nice variety of shops
K. M.
Love going here once in a while! Good variety of shops as well as food places like McDonald’s and Pizza Hut. Even though they’re smaller shops, it has a sort of small town and village feel which I really like! Though there is a big Asda store opposite to it.
R. “. M.
The shopping centre has recently had some new additions.
All the shops were well stocked and a pleasure to walk around.
With the exception of asda which sadly had alot of stock missing. The staff there are extremely helpful and do there best to help.
Cinnabom which is inside the asda store was really nice, and I hadn't even considered trying them before.
TK Maxx has a different layout since lockdown and is much better to walk around now
Greggs had a good selection although the hot food was only like warm.
The new Hobby craft store was amazing to walk around and get ideas, I bought a few items and received a loyalty card
Superdrug is a new store to open, nicely laid out with a great makeup and perfume selection, although Boots (slightly more expensive) have better toiletries and gifts.
M&S always a great food hall.
S. D.
More and more items are more than a pound, think a name change to Over a Poundland might work.
H. B.
Good range of shops, cafes,I think you will like them check them out 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
S. P.
Good selection of shops, the car park is very tight and it gets really busy, even from the roundabout of the main road, so give yourself plenty of time.
R. B.
Great shops but parking a nitemare
K. G.
Nice selection of shops but parking is the main problem , limited access and spaces creating long queues out onto the main road.
B. P.
Few nice little shops. Parking is however a nightmare!
r. m.
Good selection of shops can be buisy to park
S. F. P.
A Very busy place with a variety of shops but not enough parking.
R. P.
Busy, busy, busy. Lots of shopping options without the faff of unnecessary little stalls or nail bars everywhere. Only thing that lets it down is the parking access.
T. S.
Much better selection, just lacking cash machine.
D. D.
Can't beat a poundland really, this one doesn't do clothes though like the others just socks and slippers
D.
Good shopping, there are also a couple of restaurants to sit and have a coffee and a bite to eat.
A. M.
Everything you need in one place. Parking can be an issue at times but nothing that a little patience won’t solve.
E. F.
Parking can be an issue at certain times of the day especially when the children are at school and weekends. You can get anything you need there the shops are good sized and varied. Easy to get around and very pleasant .
A. E.
Nice, Clean and fairly safe shopping Center. Can get busy but does lots of variety in shops to make a nice little shopping trip. Plenty of parking and a couple of eateries as well, McDonald's to name one.
K. P.
Lots of parking. Shops close together under covered walkway. I like Sports Direct, M&S foodstore, Dunelm, Hobbycraft. There are other stores. Only drawback is long set of steep steps to get to Dunhelm.
S. J.
The Thurmaston shopping centre car park gets grid locked with traffic at busy times but does give level access to at least half a dozen spacious stores.
D. B.
Not bad place, staff ok, more self adsorbed in personal day to day conversation of boyfriends, life etc. Clothing ranges on trend for time of year, some begins to be had. Nothing for the larger person or extra larger person.
K. K.
Always so busy. Parking can be an absolute nightmare, despite this lots of good shops.
T. W. “. L.
Good selection of shops. Hobby craft is my favourite
T. P.
Walking distance for me. Love coming here instead of going into town. Just missing a nandos now. If you drive parking is a nightmare on a weekend as the place gets rammed. Its easier prob an hour before closing at on those days. Good selection of shops and even better now with superdrugs greggs and hobbycraft added.
S. T.
Visited Hobbycraft and Superdrug
Excellent customer service and very well presented in both stores
P.
Nice little retail park with plenty of shops like Dunelm and asda, boots, tkmaxx, sports direct and others! Parking here is a nightmare! Too small spaces and not enough, it's also very busy at the roundabout getting into the retail area very badly laid out!
V. A.
I enjoy coming here regularly and it isn't far from Asda either. It has some ok shops I.e. £1 Shop, Starbucks, Sport Directs, McDonald's and other shops I use regularly. I like coming here when it isn't all busy, busy times is off putting to go as parking can be challenging.
G. V.
Plenty of parking spaces. Choice of shops. Although entrance to carpark had long queues.
T. S.
Ample parking space and many great shops.
Tip: There's also Asda next to it so you can get your tank full with low cost fuel and even Costco is not far if you have a membership
j. p.
A very pleasant trip to Dunelm, just passing today but plan to go back with my daughter who needs stuff for uni. Lovely helpful chat with Louise in the 'made to measure' curtain department. Lots of good advice and selection of fabrics.
R. a. S. G.
Visited Next at Thurmaston Shopping Centre and was served by a friendly and helpful shop assistant in the men's department. Just what's needed in these difficult times!
E. H.
Car park is a bit awkward with smaller bays, very few parent and child bays and tight corners. Can get busy and congested. Shops aren't too bad
H. G.
Pain to access and egress at busy times and parking spaces are tight. Good range of shops though. Go mid morning and there are no traffic issues (I'm retired).
l. d.
Great little shopping park on the outskirts of the city
Y. N.
Good variety of shops, been visiting her for years.
A. P.
Nice shopping centre with free parking which is nice. Only criticism is the exit and entry to the main car park. Awful layout with no space to turn in or out when a car is opposite to you.
B. R.
Not a bad little shopping centre but gets so busy at weekends and needs to be bigger with more parking more variety of shop and food places
L. T.
The parking is a nightmare, but greggs is a lifesaver. Some ok shops but lacking something really worth going over there for for me. (homesense is the best shop in this area)
R. L.
With plenty of free parking space, Thurmaston Shopping Centre is a convenient option for a little out of town retail therapy.
Also, it has the benefit of a few fast food restaurants for that much need lunch break.
V. T.
Visited twice this week. Lovely and clean, not too busy. Fair choice of shops from the Pond Shop to Next. Easy to park.
M. E.
Not too busy today at 13.00. Easy to get in and park
N. L.
Good place but the Parking now is very short o very small...!!!
C. R.
Car park was full .. not a lot of people in the shops . In fact didn't even need to queue except for the coffee shop ..
M. D.
Great place, lots of different shops
S.
Great shopping area. Only problem is the parking is a nightmare if you arrive after 10am.
I think a one way car park would be much better.
D. G.
Good selection of shops, but traffic and parking is always a nightmare.
A. B.
Very nice place to pick up a coffee and have a wonder in the shops
A. G.
First time I have been there and I simply love dunelm
S. M.
Decent shops here but the parking isn't great, small spaces and easily gets jammed up around here.
S. C.
I went to Macdonald's at thurmaston and it was ok yeah.
P. L.
Great place to do some light shopping and seems fair in prices so recommend.
m. b.
It's okay, but it is always super busy. There are a good selection of shops to visit. Any store I have used the staff have been great and helpful.
A. C.
Lovely Car Park... One of the Best!
E. C.
Not many shops open at the moment due to COVID-19. I went only to visit M&S food shop. No queues outside, hand sanitizer etc available at the entrance, most people in the store were respecting social distancing. Good stock available & many multi buy offers. I always try to avoid busy times and visit just a couple of times a month
J. R.
Few shops are my favourite i didn't go in all the shops because very expensive
L. A.
Shops are good, a few empty shops though which would be nice to see filled.
Car park is not great nearly always full and the roads/spaces are tight.
B. F.
Overly busy even during the pandemic. The one-way-in and one-way-out system generates a disgusting amount of traffic. Decent array of shops including a large Asda. It may be the closest shops for those living to the north outside Leicester, but I'd recommend travelling further in to a better and less-congested shopping centre
B. V. G.
Lots of shopping options and few QSR's like McD and Pizza hut along M& S, TKMaxx and very recently opened Hobby Craft . The biggest challenge is parking.
V. G.
Love this little shopping area. Gets quite busy but it has a lot of diverse shopping experiences.
C. C.
Love the new hobby craft store but parking has always been a nightmare
P. A.
Always good amount of parking. Nice array of shops
K. T.
A good selection of shops and places to eat.
J. H.
Good variety of shops. Worth checking Google for how busy it is,as the entrance is via a little roundabout that gets a bit clogged with impatient drivers
F. H.
Nice selection of shops, free parking. But the car park can be difficult to get around as it's so narrow.
j. H.
Free parking and easy access.
Pavements need to be more level for wheelchair users
M. A.
It's easy to navigate and much to explore.
Can get you whole shopping done from food to office stationaries to shoes and clothes.
m. w.
Plenty of parking space but often full at peak times
A. S.
Good selection if retail outlets. Handy coffee shop.can be a struggle finding a parking space at times tho.
R. T.
Good selection of shops, only downside i feel is that the shopping center has outgrown the area. There are always ques to get into the car park and can be very difficult to find a parking space.
A. S.
Always good, dunelm always above and beyond for anyone who has a disability.
S. K.
Thurmaston shopping centre is perfect if you just need to pick up a few bits, it has a good variety of shops, TKmax, boot's, Poundland, Next, Dunelm, Sports World, M&S food shop, Claire's, Starbucks, McDonald's, Pizza hut. And Asda across the road.
c. a.
I good mix of shops and places to eat however parking is never easy
S. P.
1st time there for over 12 months due to Covid 19. Very good parking. People keeping 2 meters distance. Shops very good. Will be going there again.
D. J.
Easy parking with various useful shops although try and avoid rush hour it can be difficult entering and leaving the centre.
J. N.
Plenty of free parking & lots of shops in close proximity to go to. Coffee & food to, Plus the added bonus of a supermarket across to road.
l. r.
Parking is a nightmare ....someone needs to rethink this going forward
A. P.
Good range of shops! But the car park is terrible! And at busy times as a local resident It annoys me how much traffic builds up around the area!
b. r.
Great shops with plenty of parking
R. F.
Went to collect an instore delivery. Very easy and efficient process :-)
A. W.
It's ok, don't know why they replaced the clothes shops with a arts and crafts shop though. Could have been a primark or something more useful
a.
Parking is difficult always busy ,not very well thought out ,be prepared to que
c.
Been here many times not alot shops but the ones there are are good with new addition of hobby craft
S. W.
Parking is a nightmare and traffic is very high
K. D.
Good selection of shops. Car park busy but no queues. Much better than going to the high street and paying for parking.
H. B.
Saw some beautiful fabric in hobby craft
F. N.
Great location, but parking can be a pain would recommend shopping mid week.
G. J.
The wife loves it now there his a Hobby Craft there save me a trip to Nottingham
A. T.
Good shopping centre, just a shame about the steps if one is not too mobile. A good selection of shops with plenty of free parking. Easy to access off the A46
J. T.
Every thing you need in one area. From clothes and furniture shopping to shoes and sports goods shopping.. Boots the chemist is here as well... Big dunhelm store... Mobile phone shop.. Fast food shops.. Large asda store also. Plenty free parking..
S. D.
Good range of stores to save me going into the city centre (TK Maxx ,Boots,Dunelm, Next,Poundland,Sports Direct, ) as well as places to eat (Pizza hut, McDonalds, Starbucks) and also has A ASDA superstore across the road. Free parking and is accessible by bus too (Arriva number 5/6).
H. R.
To small and over packed. Any Saturday or holiday except to spend ages getting in to the car park. But it's still better then the city centre hence its packed.
S. S.
Love visiting Thurmaston shopping centre
J. S.
Love shopping here. Everything in one place
R. S.
Parking and traffic is an absolute nightmare here
N. H.
Small shopping centre with a big Asda across the road ... We went to the new HobbyCraft store that opened 10th July ...
M. K.
Good variety of stores ....not enough parking ....1 entry and exit point. May get busy.
H. M.
This place is a good place for shopping locally instead of going across to town, car parking spaces are a little bit tight especially when others are a little inconsiderate with the way Park 😑 otherwise good place.
A. S.
Handy to have close to home parking is not good spaces are far to small
S. M.
Always liked this place, just enough variety shops to go round. Dunhelm café always worth visit.
P. M.
Plenty of choice here for an hour here on a Saturday - parking is OK - you can shop M&S, Homesense, Boots, Next & the Poundshop, as well as have a Costa or a Maccy D. Pizza Hut is there too
L. D.
Lovely place . Needs more parking
P. “. P.
Next. Same store like everywhere.
Small car park.
D. J.
Good atmosphere 👌 , lack of parking hence the 4*
W. C.
Nice shopping area for weekend
A. A.
Good parking (free) and easy to go round shops.
j. m.

S. A.
Great selection of shops, highly recommended
Shops include (but I may have missed out some, sorry) Marks and Spencer food, Boots, Dunelm, phone shop, Clairs (I think), outlet store for Dorothy Perkins, Topman etc., Sports direct, food place and around 3 or 4 other shops as well as a huge Asda with petrol
R. P.
Got a few shops that have got everything you need
H. M.
Good place local shopping centre limited amount of shops parking spaces are a bit tight and even tighter when selfish drivers parking are not good 😐
G.
This place is a busy centre but has a great range if shops for all your needs. The one thing that lets it down is its lack of available parking spaces but thats what happens at popular places.
C. L.
Good selection of shops traffic and parking can be bad
H. T.
Everything that you'd want in a shopping centre: restaurants, huge variety of retail shops, cafés and an Asda supermarket. Also, there is a Costco and Screwfix nearby.
K. R.
Got everything that we need in this area. But asda across the road is a real let down
J. F.
Lots off shop choice and easy parking
O. K.
Convenient with massive parking capacity.
I. T.
The shops I visited (Sports Direct, Next and Outfit) were spot on with social distancing measures, hand gels and making sure everyone was wearing a mask.. well done :)
H. B.
Mainly Parking issues, otherwise good
V. S.
Great shopping centre
You can get just about everything you could want here
A. H.
Excellent parking. Good range of shops and places to eat.
s. s.
On this occasion we went into Poundland but everything wasn't a pound anymore, I guess you have to change if your going to survive..
C. K.
Typical out of town shopping mall.Has large Asda which has good out of hours pharmacy for those emergencies. Usually plenty of parking on Asda site
A. P.
Good range of shops. Taking into account ASDA over the road, why would you ever want to go into Leicester?
R. C.
Good shops, bad parking
m. a.
Good shop for the prices, aircon never works so always stupidly hot in here and any of there stores. Staff are polite but never enough around
S. L.
Amazing place got my work trousers from here so happy as they were so much more cheaper then any other shops.
J. P.
Lovely shopping centre with good blend of shops. Parking spaces are tight and can be difficult finding a spot during peak times and festive seasons
N. S.
Good selection, great price products
C. S.
Good selection of stores, m&s, homesense, tkmaxx, boots, big Asda, big dunelm, plenty to eat, would have given 5 stars but parking is very tight, still well worth a visit.
