The different types of ramen served at this restaurant is just delicious and can be served with different types of meat. They are hot and so good to eat on a cold day. They also serve drinks. I liked my Yuzu served with a bit of brandy and mint leaves. Yummy 😋 Besides food, there’s a lot to see artworks and shopping to be done.

Went there for the christmas festivities and were not disappointed. Christmas lights were far better than other streets in london. Shops along the street were nicely decorated. Try to a avoid going on weekends as it would be packed. 430 pm on a weekday would be the best time...

Great for going walkabout when it’s not pouring outside. Plenty of options for food and drink, and not just at Kingly Court or along Kingly Street. Good variety of retail outlets too.
The novelty store between the welcome arch and the Union Jack is a favourite stop of mine.

Carnaby Street is most famous for being the beating heart of London's fashion scene at the height of the Swinging Sixties. After the Great Fire of London in 1666, the street was used as a residential building location, starting with Karnaby house in 1683, giving the street its name.
In 1682 bricklayer, Richard Tyler, laid out Carnaby Street itself, which took it’s name from Karnaby House, the first house built on the street.
1665 was the year of The Great Plague. ‘Pesthouses’ were built for plague victims, the first one in London being on Carnaby Street.
In the 1720s the area was redeveloped to include a market for meat, fish and vegetables in Lowndes Market, later known as Carnaby Market.
The Shakespearean public House, which still stands today on the corner of Carnaby Street and Foubert’s Place was built in 1735.
Regent Street was completed in 1823, segregating Carnaby Street and Soho from Mayfair. The street was built by architect John Nash and was the worlds’ first purpose built shopping street.

Super crowded, over priced. Great for a stroll but the restaurants are always packed
Y. K.
Such a neat place to walk and window-shop.
G. W.
Swamped with tourtists - so be prepared for the crowds. Lots of people taking photos at both entrances so can be difficult to navigate with a wheelchair / pushchairs. Choice of shops is fantastic, but loosing more and more of the small British independent shops (what the area is known for) for big brands, BUT most stores you won't find elsewhere in central, so still worth a visit.

Mostly the preserve of corporate fashion 'brands' and 'name' retailers. Once synonymous with 'rag trade' creativity, the inspired, edgy and unusual, now very little here except on side street peripheries..perhaps.

(Translated) Terms like "Swinging London" ("Entertaining London") and "Swinging Sixties" ("The Sixty Moves") have become so synonymous with Carnaby Street, that it is difficult not to associate them immediately. Not only was Carnaby Street once considered "Capital of Cool" ("The Great Capital"), but it was also the epicenter of the British youth revolution during the 1960s, to which those who were immersed in the fashion of the They used to consider it as their home.
The many fashion stores selling "Mod" items made Carnaby Street a name that is recognized all over the world, and its influence on London fashion, stores and the tourism industry is still maintained today. However, before Carnaby Street became one of the most desirable places to go shopping, it was actually a very deteriorated area in which the victims of the plague were served during the seventeenth century.
The name of the place comes from a building that was located on the east side of the street (Karnaby House), and that had been built by Richard Tyler in 1683.
In the 19th century Carnaby Street began to become a popular refuge for creatives and bohemians, thanks to its convenient location, close to many London theaters and galleries. However, it was not until the arrival of John Stephen (a Glasgow clothing entrepreneur) that Carnaby Street was transformed into a modern area, which is still widely recognized today.
Stephen, who has been dubbed "The King of Carnaby Street" ("The King of Carnaby Street") was commissioned to design the most iconic costumes for the Mods during the 60s, and his clothes were worn by members of Rolling Stones , The Who, The Kinks and many more. In fact, Carnaby Street became so linked to the musical culture of Britain during the sixties, that several songs about it have been written about it over the years (such as Paul Weller's "Carnaby Street"; "The Kinks 1966 hit "Dedicated Follower Of Fashion; and" Carnaby Street "by The Jams).
Carnaby Street maintained its reputation as an important place in the modern scene during the 70s and 80s, becoming a meeting place for popular punk bands like The Sex Pistols and The Jams.
Today, Carnaby Street still has a lot of unique and modern clothing stores offering items that you will not find anywhere else in the city, and possibly the world. The entire commercial area of Carnaby consists of Kingly Street (to the east), Marshal Street (to the west), and Newburgh Street (also called Newburgh Quarter), which has more than 50 restaurants, pubs and bars.
