Reviews of The Brunswick Centre
T.
Very cozy comercial Centre with lots of amenities, ranging from an asian supermarket where you can find great deals (Tian Rian market) to cookies and and sweets if you have a sweet tooth. There's also a Specsavers and boots in case you need to buy medical supplies. Next, there's a massive Waitrose if you need anything else, where there's good deals for an amazing quality. Overall, it's a nice little Centre where you can go for a walk and grab a bite.
S. H.
Although the centre has changed its shops significantly in the last 5 years (all the clothes and shoe shops have gone!), it’s still has a strong pull with a good selection of supermarkets, eateries, cafes and entertainment for all ages.
Always well decorated according to the season and well maintained so I recommend visiting if you’re in the area.
K. T.
Super convenient with lots of food places to choose from for a quick bite, from sushi to bubble tea, burgers or fried chicken, all in one location, plus two supermarkets. The centre itself is kept clean and the Christmas tree and lights give the whole place a welcoming atmosphere. They're a good number of benches for people to sit if they're not staying inside one of the restaurants. I love that I can pop over here from uni at anytime of the day, 10/10
M. T.
Curzon cinema is just great. I highly recommend you guys. You will love the atmosphere 👌
M. S.
Beautiful place for a day out. When there make sure to eat at Slim Chickens 🐔 They have amazing burgers 🍔
M. T.
They have on ok selection of shops and restaurants but overall the place is quite grim as it's surrounded by rundown buildings and the whole thing looks like a concrete prison. They're also not dog friendly in many of their establishments.
P. A.
Another little hidden gem.Everything you want in one area. Great Waitrose if you doing your food shop and a stones throw away plenty of places to eat or even grab a glass of wine with a friend.
S. I.
Right next to Russell Square Tube - can also walk easily from Euston or Kings Cross. Pleasant open area enclosed by shops (mostly food places) and restaurants.
There is an interesting range, from Leon to the Tian Tian supermarket, restaurants, a Superdrug, Boots, Robert Dyas and an excellent Waitrose.
There is also the delightful Skoob second hand bookshop (as well as another branch on the other side of the Waitrose). And a very pleasant cinema too.
R. L.
Nice little shopping area, decent selection shops boots is a tad small, but waitrose makes up for it!
A. O.
This is a really lovely little square packed with a bunch of restaurants, cafes, specialty stores, and useful shops. They even have an arcade now! Be sure to check out Fuwa Fuwa Cafe for some seriously fluffy pancakes.
O. L.
Pretty shopping centre in the heart of London. Good selection of shops and restaurants.
M. V.
Amazing find I the city center! A little gem of a place worth popping in for the shops, the restaurants, the vibe and cinemas! Lovely photo opportunities. Recommend it for sure!
M. S.
I wish Sainsbury had been there instead of Waitrose! Only for the prices! I'm so miserly. What experience could I have? Blind and limping!
L. a.
Lovely cinema showing very good art films the cake I had was Ruby velvet cake and the coffee was good also I want more of the cake!!! Lovely comfy seats in the minima cinema at the curzon cinema Bloomsbury
M. M.
A well located mini shopping centre with a good mix of shops, cafés, restaurants and a boutique cinema.
There is a Waitrose supermarket, Superdrug pharmacy, Carluccio's Italian restaurant, Giraffe Giraffe, Leon's, ITSU Japanese fast food, Las Iguanas Mexican restaurant along with many others.
The Centre is home to the Curzon cinema which has screens two floors into the basement and has been refurbished with modern clean designs and comfortable screens.
The design of the centre is a 60s concrete building which has been sympathetically updated and has nice Central courtyard water features.
M. J.
I love visiting here, although more and more it's just a place to come to eat. It looks very pretty with all the Christmas trees and the functions they hold here are brilliant.
S. F. A.
Awesome place . You can find coffee , restaurants, fast food. Can either eat outside or inside. It also have a variety of clothes stores
T. T. R.
Small shopping mall very close to University College London. 20 seconds walking distance from Russell Square underground station. Waitrose is the largest grocery shop in the mall. Many other shops including Ziraff, Hare and Tortoise, Boots, Bank, Sainsbury’s etc. 10 minutes walking distance from Kings cross st Pancras station. Weekend market in the middle of the centre is worth a visit.
w. t.
What a nice place to have shopping as well as variety of food stores. Great atmosphere. Small but well organized place with bars, restaurants and a lot of shops as wel as Curzon cinema.
D. Q. (. D.
Nice Christmas deco but add some freebies to make the season jolly and pleasant especially for the many hospital staff who are mostly your customers. . Reward their hardwork
A. B.
Attractive shopping area within a wonderful example of modernist architecture. Great shopping, dining and leisure venues to be had. Great atmosphere.
A. H.
Iconic borderline brutalist (it’s probably too elegant to be called outright brutalist) housing development in Bloomsbury also contains a shopping centre with all the usual high street stores and a big Waitrose.
S. A.
The restaurants/cafés are open now and offering "eat-in" in their open areas.
A. C.
Great location to meet up as there is a healthy selection of restaurants and coffee joints. The cinema is fantastic if independent movies are your thing, although they also show mainstream as well. The Center has a wonderful market on Saturday also which is well worth the trip
P. K.
Lovely lil centre with places to eat n shop. Some shops have closed down since COVID/lockdown.
A. C.
Nice place to have a chill evening, decent lunch spot or grocery shop! A stone their from the hussle and bussle of the city hotspots. Things do close unexpectedly early though
R. B.
I come here when i do longday shift at my work . Most of the restaurants here give discounts for NHS employees.mostly 10 to 15percent off
M. T.
Nice center, in your local area. Many options for shopping, eating and coffee! The Waitrose is pretty big and I always love shopping there. The Christmas decoration is so nice and I always enjoy the events they have.
I. C.
Little oasis in centre of London. Good selection if chain restaurants like Nandos, Giraffe, Leon etc along with shops. There also community events which take place.
S. M.
Small selection of shops, but sadly nothing special and slightly rundown surrounding area
I. G.
Nice layout, not too big, very useful shops 👍
E. B.
Went here to get Japanese fluffy pancakes and was pleasantly surprised to find so many shops in one place - many of them being local and small businesses. It was a wonderful day out and a well maintained place with a good vibe.
C. B.
This is a great shopping centre with good shops and cafes. Skoob Books is a brilliant bookshop.
M. A.
Cute place and has loads of shops and plenty of space to sit
A. G.
Love it here but the shops are closing which is such a shame, do go and support these businesses
M. M.
Accessible with lots of seating and a broard range of shops and food stores to browse.
H. I.
Great place. Brunswick Centre has a Bollywood event for local community and whoever wanted to join in the festivities. Had a wonderful time with great food from chef Vijay. Thank for for a wonderful time. Great place to visit. Lovely people, great restaurants and shopping galore🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
K. K.
Conveniently located with nearest tube station is Russell Square and 15 min walk from King's Cross Station; and plenty of restaurants and 3 supermarkets (waitrose, Tesco express and sainsbury's)
E. P.
A great example of Brutalist architecture and a fantastic place to hang out, shop or watch arthouse cinema any day of the week.
G. C.
Good selection of stores, and on certain days/hours good street food. Architecturally beautiful, especially in the courtyard, if you like modernist buildings.
G. A.
Nice place and a a lot of options for entertainment and food
P. P.
Perfect location, all the amenities you’d require too & right opposite the local station.
D. M.
Loads of shopping and a Fresh Veg stand!
E. A.
Lots of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. There's a Starbucks, a Nandos and a few other restaurants there. Cards and gifts (Card galore) store as well. All within a short distance to each other. It's not got lots of clothes shopping stores but there are general stores like Waitrose there. They currently have sales on towards Christmas shopping so worth taking a look.
A. B.
Great selection of diners and shops. Neat architecture also
M. W.
Used to be ALOT better. Things must be Bad to allow an amusement arcade
F. C.
Nice to come here during lunch break, or in the evening/weekend. Lots of shops and seating
M. C.
Given that I had to leave the 5 * rating for when personal shoppers will be welcoming visitors with a beverage and a complimentary face mask- it was great! Only a few shops are open but, at this time Waitrose and Superdrug are exciting enough to make the visit worth. The atmosphere was pleasant and the whole area, in general, was very clean and tidy.
K. O.
Not much going on in the Brunswick centre most of the shops are places to eat all the clothes shop have gone except Hobbs
Waitrose and your regular shop like Superdrug etc etc
J. M. (.
One of my favourite places. Beautifully decorated for Christmas 💖
L. C.
Some shops closed but overall a good place
M. C.
A selection of well known and independent shops can be found here, with a selection of places to eat and cinema.
J. B.
Nice light shopping area in Bloomsbury. Pleasant and convenient. Nice when it's sunny or early in the morning. It's open air so if it's raining you'll get wet. This isn't a shopping center as such but more of a public space with various outlets, mostly food and drinks. I'd say the architecture was 70s or 80s but I'm no expert. Has the essentials like Sainsbury's and Boots but also some specialities like Taiwan bubble tea.
d. j.
A good selection of shops including Skoob books
N. T.
Nicely decorated, not too large shopping center.
C. M.
Came to the hospital for appointment never new this place existed as I only noticed Tesco's pret a mangre then saw sign 4 waitrose as I was looking for the library which was showing the story of the holocaust then saw all the shops inside the court of apartments was so surprised and it had chairs to sit on lovely area with restaurants as well enjoyed
V. W. (.
Parking on door step, good choice of shops and food outlets
Л. В.
Looks like the socialist block in which I lived in Belgrade, Serbia (the neighbourhood of Novi Beograd), except more chic and cool in white colour and modern Brutalist twist!
A. O.
A great Nandos here friendly polite staff and great food.Loved it
P. B.
Cinema. Market. Chillout fast food and cafés. Nice to meet people.
S. G.
Went for lunch at Nostimo Mediterranean, very fresh tasty food, great selection to choose from, couldn't help noticing that all the dishes coming out looked so good. Definitely going back for more. 😋
S. W.
Looking tired of late; so many closed units. Which is a shame, as it used to be bustling. Still one or two decent restaurants there, and of course Waitrose. Skoob books is always worth a visit.
And there's always the cinema.
D. J.
Lovely range of shops and restaurants. Went there for the cinema, which has a nice bar and comfortable seating.
த. க. (.
The place has lots of shops and looks wonderful at night. It is a good place to relax
A. J.
A Hustling bustling Centre Set in Brutalist architecture. Plenty of eclectic shops to visit
H. W. (.
Nice to walk around and buying stuffs
E.
A bit of a transformation from a few years ago. The Curzon Cinema and Tortoise and Hare have been here forever and are highly recommend.
o.
Nice and quiet when you go early. Has a few clothes shops like New Look, and Oasis and Office. They did have a Baby Gap, river island and French connection but been replaced with food restaurants . LEON, Slim chicken, gourmet burgers and more.
Brunswick centre is gone to the dog's, all the best ahops are gone,no more New look,Office,Oasis,Hobbs and a few more shop. Brunswick centre is practically empty, Waitrose, superdrug, specsavers and Holland & Barrett is stil there.
R. C.
Open air mall with outdoor seating and various retail shops and restaurants.
A. S.
Great little hidden square with lots of places to eat and shop.
D. L.
The Brunswick Centre, built in 1972, was refurbished in 2006. It contains flats, shops & cafés. Opposite Russell Square Underground station.
B. L.
Half empty shopping mall, but have used the empty spaces to support local businesses such as a second hand bookshop
R. S.
Best parking around central London. Cost effective.. easy to get in or out.. not sure if thr are toilets though as never had to use them.
V. S.
Handy little shopping ctr . Shame alot closed re covid
U. M.
Great selection of shops. Great food there too. Many options!
N. S.
Very nice spot to go with family and friends.
C. T.
Lovely place... Like a shopping centre in an open area. You have plenty of options of food shop, mobile phones and clothing. There is also a supermarket and a pharmacy. Well located near underground station (Russel Square) and close to the park and to some universities campuses. It's worthy to have a look :)
M. E.
Too many empty shops. Why a kiddies arcade? Rents are obviously too high
A. P.
Great places to eat and drink, has parking
S. A.
Iconic building to start with. Interesting stories behind. In general a relaxed shopping/chill out area with energetic vibe. There's also a Curzon cinema here.
L. G.
Lovely place to chill plenty of out door seating. Spotless. There's a sainsburys waitrose and a tesco down the road. Nice place to sit and have coffee.
P. D.
A great little centre with a decent array of shops and restaurants.
J. F.
Nice little shopping area with cool cinema
T. J.
Waitrose and brutalism. What more could you want?
M. S.
Love this place . You have everything here . A restaurant , a cloths shop, a supermarket and even a park next .
J. H.
Nice shopping centre just outside Russell Square Underground Station. Famous Curzon cinema onsite. Waitrose, Leon, Nandos, Slim Chickens, Starbucks, Itsu, Nostimo, GBK, Chatime and the Fuwa Fuwa cafe is a must try. Underground NCP parking is convenient for shoppers.
A. A.
The Waitrose is big and a joy to shop in. This is one of the prettiest shopping mall/high st experiences in central London. Surrounded by the tiered residences which give it a unique character and proximity to Russel Sq tube and Russell Square itself makes it easy to get to and from. The other shops and cinema are all ones worth visiting and with enough restaurants as cafes to give you choice but not spoil you. I love it!
g. M.
Gone down the pan lots of empty shops but plenty of coffee shops and food but not many customers
C. T.
Looking a bit tired now. Shame so many of the shops are chains.
G. W.
It's probably the best place around there to get something to eat and have a chill out
E. C.
It is a very nice and tidy shopping mall in the heart of London. All the essential shops are there and you can sometimes find some rarities. Very good place to visit and to have a little stroll. 😉😉
T.
Great little 1970's style shopping centre.
N. K.
Good shopping centre.good staff and management.
I. T.
Waitrose; food stalls at the weekend; 2nd hand bookshop in the basement; chain restaurants and fashion in between pandemics; and a cinema. Useful place to get rid of some of that money that you've been finding so burdensome.
C. C.
Lovely shopping centre ruined by other customers who refuse to observe any social distancing. They appeared blissfully unaware of any need to keep their distance.
E. H.
a lovely little shopping and restaurant open air mall. Has a great little cinema too.
A. R. G.
I'm quite disappointed thou as Ann Summers and the Centros Único are not there anymore, but this is not the Brunswicks fault and overall is a cute small mall where you can seat to enjoy your lunch in the sun!!
C.
Cozy, intimate clean little centre. It did the job
K. C.
A beautiful piece of architecture adjacent Russell Square Tube Station. Handy for shopping and eating too.
H. B.
Very sad on a very wet day. Lots of empty shops. Curzon cinema open, serving coffees/ drinks / food. Cinema seats well distanced, booked in pods. A pleasure to see a good film again.
Z. P.
Good place in the community to shop and fee shops are their to enjoy good out door space to sit down and have your food too.
P. B.
Visited the Curzon cinema, very pleasant experience, great place to see films. Will be returning.
A. S.
Great place for some shopping, you can find some of the classic High Street shops there. Also has good places for coffee and a nice meal. The atmosphere is very nice, and the place doesn't get hectic, making it a good choice for some relaxing strolls.
M. J.
Massively improved space over the past 5+years. Good selection of shops and restaurants. Fantastic Waitrose
J. G.
Delicious! Hadn't had before but would go back.
M. A.
Impressive and a lovely place to visit! Hidden gems within a estate and community setting. Historical sites around for those classical enthusiasts! Contemporary venues with an eclectic feel! Wonderful location!
J.
It’s always clean and safe. There are a good mix of shops for your daily life, restaurants and a lovely cinema! The food market on a Saturday is brill! Would love to see more independent shops as well though.
T. C.
always changing this place since I last came quite buzzy and loads to do
M. S.
Centre itself needs updating. Shop units are empty and it could just do with a lick of paint/cleaning.
Only reason I venture up here is for the Waitrose and the Curzon.
L.
Pleasant spot to do shopping at stores like Waitrose, Sainsbury's local, Boots, Superdrug, Holland and Barretts and much more.
In addition to this, there are plenty of places to stop and eat, along with seating areas throughout the Centre. It has a very welcoming feel, with lots to do in the general area. I do enjoy visiting this location and it is worth also observing the flats above the Centre, which are unusual in their style. Love it.
E. C.
Great location, just across the tube station Russell Square station.
P. S.
OK I used the car park underneath which was great for access to UCL. Just walked through centre so seemed usual shopping centre
T. J.
Strange architecture with a variety of decent places to eat - especially on Saturdays.
V. B.
this is somehow one of my favorite places in my neighborhood. I like the somewhat brutalist architechture. the selection of shops is great, of course the huge waitrose is the most amazing thing about the centre, but the other shops are also nice. It must also be noted that the centre is always very clean, has a really good cinema and even some shoes and clothing stores which can be a great option. I also like the artwork sculptures a lot. overall great place to shop if you live near by, with a lot of restaurant options as well.
S. A.
Delicious cocktails, lovely food, nice and lively atmosphere, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of staff, which brings a slower service. Despite of that, they have ama,ing cocktails deals, almost everyday at every hour of the day, and they are very good. They also offer a variety of Latin American food, which is another plus side of this restaurant. I hope the sort the staffing so the service gets a bit quicker!
L. C.
A popular lunchtime destination for those in the Russell Square area. It provides a mixture of shops, clothing, food and a cinema. It can get very busy during the lunchtime hours, but it has a good selection of shops to cater for most. There are a few shops that are overpriced for what the provide, but this is typical for Central London. Occasionally, there are statues on display and the Christmas decorations have improved over the years. It is quite a confined space, so there is no option for more seating. However, what it provides is enough for the area.
M. W. N.
Eateries in this area which includes Nandos, Meat & Liquor, Starbucks Leon and a couple more which are currently open and available for takeaways. There is also a big Waitrose in the centre as well.
M. W.
For what it is, it's not bad, a decent amount of food places and huge waitrose, but for some reason tons of clothes shops for women and only really one River Island that has a small mens section so if you are a guy don't bother going looking for clothing.
Visually it's pretty decent, small water feature and plenty of places to sit. Am surprised with the amount of security around, this is a good thing and was really pleased to see them for such a small area was still good to see a visual presence here.
Overall, for the area this is a very nice have and a great place if you live locally or are a tourist staying nearby and don't want to go into town to eat.
Also note this is a very clean place but I did not see one cleaner! They must be working in stealth or an agreement with the restaurants must be in place as this place was almost spotless.
N. F.
I used to like this place much better before they updated it very years ago, it had real retro 1960's feel ! It's a paved-in, pedestrianised shopping centre set within tied blocks if flats, accomodation with tiered balconies, I've seen it used as a film or tv location set, I think it would be a nice place to live, right in the heart of London, very nearby to Russell Square underground tube station & the British Museum, also near Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road, Euston Road & Kings Cross St. Pancreas & Goodge Street with all their stations & Camden & Islington on the doorstep too. It was revamped some years ago & has been made more upmarket, with a Waitrose & partners supermarket & other shops, bank & ATM & Hotels & hostilleries all around
s. k.
Always enjoy my break time there is also a massive Waitrose there too.
H. H.
Xmas lights a treat...places to sit and eat, chat and meet...looking festive even in the rain!
R. P.
Are the weekend food stalls back yet? (especially the Paella and the Polish sausage stall?)
D. B.
Super,nr 1 I like very much thank oll
W. K.
Grade II listed Brutalist architecture beautifully restored and redesigned with added water feature. Decent selection of shops and restaurants, especially Fuwa Fuwa, the Japanese fluffy pancake restaurant. There is a surprisingly large Waitrose. Parking is available for those who drive. A very nice place for a break if in the area.
R. A. G.
Striking architectural feature of Bloomsbury which has some standout retail and entertainment offerings (namely, Skoob Books and Curzon Bloomsbury).
However, unfortunately, the remainder of the princint is mainly standard chain stores and eateries.
L. R.
Nice location with many stores and restaurants 👌
D. T.
Some great eateries, but unfortunately a lot of the retail units have closed.
M. A.
Good place for a lunch date
D. “. B.
Really enjoy the vibe of the Brunswick Centre. Has an odd, quirky shape and design, like it was designed in the 60s. In the heart in of Russell Square area - basically it’s a housing estate with a shopping mall and cinema in the centre. Has some nice stores, but is known for its al fresco dining areas. Very nice to go in the summer where you can hang, enjoy the sun with a drink or a nice meal. There’s also outdoor table tennis, occasionally.
S. M.
Excelente. A Lot Of Shop's & Restaurant.
A. S.
Nice selection of shops, restaurants and cafes right next to Russel Square!
Y. D.
Lots of shop and restaurants, with nice places to sit
T. C.
An excellent shopping centre, well placed with a wide choice of retail outlets! So I was able to have an excellent coffee with cake; but also able to by a selection to share at home, able to buy some men's shirts and also to leisurely browse a second-hand bookshop. A wonderful and varied experience, and within a very small area!!
S. T.
Great place to sit around and eat...... Not much toddler friendly apart from pigeons
K. M.
Great selection of shops and mid priced eateries, gardens alongside ideal for a takeaway spot during lockdown
V. M.
A bustley small Mall with interesting shops, places to eat and have coffee. Great to have no traffic to worry about - lovely laid back atmosphere and fabulous farmers market on Saturday's. Would highly recommend this place , it all carries on til late, with all the restaurants and cinema - great sized Waitrose too.
I. A.
Excellent place to hang out😉
D. A. (.
Really nice place with all kinds of shops and a cool mix of people hanging around everyday.
O. T.
There are loads of decent shops! (e.g. Nandos, New Look, Waitrose, Superdrug etc.) And there's enough space for social distancing outside shops, as well as Coronavirus measures inside shops.
M. M.
Good variety of retail shops. There is a waitrose which offers some outside seating for customers to sit and drink their coffee. There is also a gym, Boots, 3 mobile phone store and a Superdrug store. Very clean and pleasant water features.
P. S.
Beautiful place ruined by a bunch of cigarette Smokers. But that is true for whole London in all fairness.
D. P.
Good collection of shops in central London
S. M.
I was lucky enough to stay here because of family, this center has all you need plus walking distance to anything downtown London
S. D.
Nice clean area, plenty of outdoor seating for you to rest your weary legs or just catch a little sunshine. There is a place to lockup your bike so that you can amble through the shops. Plenty of the big name shops here for you to browse and when you are ready for a sustenance break there are some nice places to grab a bit with seating inside and out.
c. o. r.
Spooky and eerie on a Sunday morning when I visited the flat of a friend recently. However, whilst the cinema and non essential shops were closed, at the time of this review (June 7th 2020)Waitrose was just opening as I left and the chicken shop was open too, where you can get food to go and a coffee even. The little green park on adjacent Hunter Street is also open if you want to sit with your coffee and hang out for any reason. Hopefully the rest of the shops will re-open soon. As far as the buildings go, they look so much the same as they did when I first came to London in 1975. Plus ça change ça change rien!
A. M.
Very nice place. Yes, it is a shopping mall but it comes in a quirky architectural setting and is very pleasant. I have not actually ever shopped anything here, but have come some times for eating and watching films at the Renoir Cinema. When the weather is nice it is a lovely open air urban place to sit and people watch for a while.
S. G.
Lovely space very pleasant in the summer months and there a good selection of bar anf restaurants and don't forget the fluffy Japanese pancakes
D. 1.
It's a great vibe but only problem is no rest room not enough shops but the worst is the opening hours on a Sunday like 12:00 noon maybe 15-20 years ago but nowadays everything opens latest 10am but honestly compared to what it used to be when there was only safeaway superstore it's a day and difference
b. h.
I shop and eat here regularly, meets all our needs.
S. S.
Peaceful, clean and historical
S. D.
Nice place for a lunch/ shopping break. Small but with lots of spaces to sit and enjoy your break.
Also good places to eat inside.
2 x parks nearby and a tube station.
A. O. C.
It's a great meeting place ☺
B. M.
If you are staying close by its a nice place to buy your provisions, and while your time with friends having ample open air sitting places. There are several fast food restaurants including Starbucks and 2 gourmet restaurants which are very popular even with the local residents.

Came to visit Fuwa Fuwa to try the infamous Japanese souffle pancakes (although expensive definitely try at least one, delicious but won't be a regular occurance for my bank account's sake!)- the place itself is welcoming and has everything you need for a quick and easy shoppijg trip- the security are on the ball and helped me when I was followed by a man asking me for money and pressuring me to go to cash machine when I said I don't carry cash (I genuinely do not!), the security guard stopped him and cleared him from the area (I am always willing to help those in need when I have cash on me however it is a scary experience when you are singled out as you are alone and then to be chased after and pressured this way so if you're looking to go alone be mindful of this). Apart from that, I had a nice experience and it's not too far a walk from Oxford Circus where you can go and check out the Christmas lights and have a wander.
P. M.
Loved it. Well laid out, easy access to all areas. Went to MEATLIQUOR, FOOD EXCELLENT, SERVICE EXCEPTIONAL 😋
L. W.
Good place for coffee, lunch and shopping n big Waitrose with free coffee inside😉
M. M.
A hub for essentials- great for uni students living nearby. Good mix of restaurants, clothing, drug, and food shops. Wish the main grocery however was a tesco as Waitrose tends to be more expensive and obviously this area is frequented most of the time by students.
P. N. A.
80s style mixed centre with apartments on top. Quite a nice area to go and grab a bite to eat or have a coffee, specially on a nice sunny day where you can sit outside the stores. Bunch of high street brands and restaurants. Quite small, but it's enough for the locals. There's a nice big Waitrose here as well which is great.
R. S.
Great little shopping area. Always manage to pick up something nice. Whether it's clothes, shoes, beauty products or get a nice lunch in one of their many eateries. They also have a cinema, to wile away the day.
L. A.
Standard places to eat, Nandos, Leon etc. There's a Waitrose there too
K. A.
Nice variety of places to eat and shops. Tesco, Sainsbury's at close proximity.
G. J.
This is my local shopping center. Has a very good Waterose store, some nice restaurants, a small Boots chemist, a couple of nice clothes stores New Look, River Island a couple of others, a hair dressers a doctors, a cinema and is close to buses and Russell Square tube st on the Piccadilly line.
A. A.
If you like the unwashed concrete monstrocity with low ceilings and rows of balconies. The shops are kind of reopening, with the dismal long queues to the brilliant Waitrose that crowns the facility. I'd point out Leon for brilliant staff and policies. One starr off for absence of public Loo.
S. D.
An easy place to miss as all the shopfronts are all inward toward the square. It looks like an ugly block of flats. A good selection of shops and restaurants close proximity to Russel Square Tube Station. I love the giant humming sculptures pretty when lit up at night.
S. A.
Revital is my destination in The Brunswick Centre. The best service and anti-aging product selection! Thank you!
V. P.
Great event with excellent Halloween decoration, sweets for trick or treat, music, and fire performance. It was lovely to see so many children and adults dressed up for the occassion. Shops in the centre were also given treats.
N. K.
Just love this place. The Curzon cinema is one of the best in London, and the surrounding shops, cafes, and restaurants - and on a weekend, the various food stalls - make this a great place to visit in the day. They've also got a massive Waitrose tucked away, which is a pleasure to shop at.
h.
A mediocre shopping centre with mostly mediocre places to eat (aside from hare and tortoise). Wouldn't recommend for shopping but a perfectly decent place to grab a quick lunch, and if you can afford waitrose the one here is fairly big. Useful, nothing more
C. M.
A lot of shops closing. A great shame.. A really lovely area..
F. T.
We rented an apartment close to the Brunswick Centre so walked to it to get in some provisions. Waitrose was ideal for some quick, easy meals and staples like bread, milk, cereal etc. There're several eating places and some high street chains. Very handy.
D. I.
Beautiful place.
Good for shopping and dining, excellent location.
T. T. R. L.
Good place to get groceries and buy food!
R. H.
Small but has a good selection of shops and restaurants for the size, I can get everything I need here. There's often interesting art works on display and they do community events.
m. d.
Good selection of food and drink love the restaurants diverse range
A. C.
Nice place with lots of shop choices. Mostly revolve around food - Waitrose, giraffe, yo sushi, ben's cookies and there's even a bubble tea place. Can be quite crowded in the day time because the Waitrose is one of the largest supermarkets in the area but on the whole well maintained. They also have some clothing and shoe stores.
P. H.
Nice place to sit. It has a range of shops and a very large waitrose that has a huge range of produce. The centre occasionally will have events on. The ones I've seen have been free and very enjoyable
G. D.
Very compact shopping centre with supermarkets, lots of restaurants and good quality healthy fast food. Shoe and clothes. Optician and pharmacy. Parking below or Russel square tube station 100m away. Saturday market is excellent.
S. A.
It’s a shopping mall but it’s outside so go on a nice weather day! We didn’t know this and it would’ve been a better day with the sun out. There’s food places and a few shops though not many. It’s near the British museum and station so easily found. I recommend the Yo Sushi and fuwa fuwa where I went. Both places were nice with good food and helpful staff. There’s also bens cookies which is nice too!
K. A. S.
Cafes, groceries market for local community and students nearby
V. S.
An amazing centre with a wide selection of shops and restaurants right next to Russell Square tube station. Every Saturday they have a food market which is great. Also, it has its own parking lot. As of the time of this review, Ben's Cookies is opening here soon.
V. S.
Some shops had closed down.
We enjoyed some lovely steak ciabatta from a pop up food stall and sat in the park nearby to enjoy them.
Russell Square park is 100 yards from there.
B. T.
As we wandered this great city of London. We came across the Brunswick Centre plaza of shops and eateries. What a bonus! My partner and I ate at the Asian fusion food court of ItSu and we were very happy with the choice of fresh, tasty food available hot and cold. Very good prices and readily available.
L. O. S.
Ok shopping and food place in Central London with shops just below what seems to be a council estate.
G. J.
This place is close to many housing, there are shopping centre, gift shops, clothing stores, restaurants, cafés, pharmacy, gym, NHS and cinema. I don't really know for each individual stores but overall the place is great for hangout and it's not too big. Every weekend there are stands for food and books- look out at the back of waitrose, there is an old book store and small garden.
M. H.
Good selection of shops
C. M.
1980s style mixed use center with housing above. The Waitrose Supermarket is big and wonderful. They have absolutely everything. There are other shops and restaurants of course which can be quite nice.
P. L.
I wish places like this were signposted better. Our hotel was 2 minutes away and we found this place by accident. We'd have stayed longer if we knew it was here and could have budgeted more time. It looks like a good vibrant place with a great range of shops and eating places.
T. B.
Pleasant place. Go on Saturday lunchtime if possible as they have a good street market. However try to avoid the Waitrose unless you go in the early morning or else you'll be waiting at least 15 minutes in the queue to pay.
G. J.
Nice shopping centre just off the beaten track.
Plenty of stores to choose from.
A number of decent restaurants and coffee shops.
A Waitrose finishes of the centre nicely.
Not far from Russell Square and Kings Cross stations.
L. H.
The Christmas decorations were really lovely throughout and the lights made the area around the shops really inviting. We were walking through the centre but stopped in a few shops to have a look around.
L. J.
A modern mixed retail and restaurant centre where there is a large selection of eating places. The common areas are spotless and are mopped every morning. A nice place to relax amidst the hustle and bustle of London.
M. S.
Brilliant local shopping centre, it's got everything you need: food of all kinds, two supermarkets (including one very good and well-stocked Waitrose), and a few fashion retailers. Atmosphere is always quite bright and upscale.
R. B.
Beautifully designed nice array of shops. The Waitrose here is one of the best
h.
I like going here during nice warm days to wonder around and get some food. There is a good number of shops and a range of different restaurants offering all types of food. It is a nice area to hang out and chill.
A. R.
Shopping centre located just next to the tube station. Good brands, some food chains. The centre is not too big so good for a quick shopping visit. Shops are accessed from outside, which I prefer, but in bad weather that may be an issue.
J. J.
Brutalist architecture at its finest, if like concrete structures, this message s a must to visit, also has an interesting history too...you can find out about that though..cool little shopping centre too..and sweet wee cinema as well..
R. C.
Cool look and feel to this part of London
W. L.
A good landmark to meet friends at, this shopping area has clothes, food, groceries, and movies. The selection of food there can however be pricey occasionally. On Saturdays, a farmers market crowds the area with beautiful aromas.
J. B.
Small shopping centre a short walk from Euston Road and the big railway stations which point to the North and St. Thomas's hospital. Shops are quite upscale and there is a good Waitrose supermarket. There is a cinema too. Kept clean and tidy and a pleasant place.
H. C.
A relatively small but extremely convenient shopping centre, it provides a wide variety of retailers and restaurants. At Christmas, the lights are always spectacular, and the Saturday market is always popular, with many different cuisines on offer.
A. L.
OK place. Limited shops but sufficient
N. G.
Many shops and places to eat. I visit 3 and 4 times a week and I like it a lot.
a. h.
It felt safe, but not friendly, and not really part of the wider community. It depends what you want. If you want chainstores you should find it satisfactory.
I remember this area 15 and 22 years ago and in those days there were times when it felt like a ghost town - sometimes even feeling intimidating. But it feels anonymous and generic now - without the "personality" of many of the surrounding streets. It's patrolled which may feel safe but I can't comment on the actual level of crime because I have no information.
Cities need areas like this to be unique, to survive - it's not unique in my mind. I could be anywhere...
Before you dismiss my review I'd ask you to consider whether you seek out "different", "friendly", and "unique"; or "predictable" and "probably safe" - I prefer the former and it is sadly becoming harder to find. If you like "the same" you'll like the Brunswick Centre.
J. W.
A great place to visit for shopping and lunch. Open areas outside to seat and eat. During Covid19 some stores closed however worth a visit. Very close to the underground.
M. M.
An unroofed shopping centre in the middle of tiered apartments opposite Russell Square tube and walking distance of Kings Cross, with a good sized Waitrose store (which has an outside seating area for lunch or snacks), other stores including Boots pharmacy, several eateries for food and coffee, and a cinema. The place has a middle class feel and is a fairly relaxed place to shop.
G. A.
While I am not a fan of shopping plazas, this one is different as it is a retail / residential plaza and just that makes it an island in a mostly residential zone. The stores and restaurants that inhabit the plaza are top notch, not outrageously expensive but not cheap either. I went to a nice Carluccio's and Patisserie Valerie. There was an open air market as well, also an Express Tesco. Definitely if you live in the neighborhood this is an important center.
K. K.
It's a popular place with the students because of the vicinity with major universities known as the Russell group. A big Waitrose there. A couple of good restaurants, especially italian. A little cinema which although not the biggest has a very selective and artsy film line up. Drug stores are available and just on the outside of the center are great pubs and food.
A. M.
Hit by Covid, sadly this popular Shopping Centre is not doing great at the moment but it will shine once again eventually...
Good selection of shops and restaurants, nice seating area.
A. “. A.
Great shopping centre, out of the way from the normal tourist traps. Right next to Russell Square tube station or a 10 min walk from Kings Cross St Pancras station. Good eating places, now with food stalls. Always a reliable place to eat. It has a large waitrose which is a bonus for locals.
N. W.
Great little shopping centre but not enough variety of shops.
B. F.
Good selection of shops. Great cinema and large Waitrose.
N. R. (.
Some useful shops and a good choice of places to eat. Well maintained, with outdoor seating. There's table tennis available, if you like that sort of thing.
T. M.
Useful for purchasing essentials if you've run out at Waitrose. There's a few restaurants and cafes and a cinema that generally offers a different range of movies to a the chains. The architecture is a mixture of modern and brutal - it seems more closed in at night than it actually is
S. B.
Great place for all your shopping needs. There is a big Waitrose supermarket, Robert Dyas an ironmonger / hardware store, various eateries including Carluccio’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Giraffe and Pâtisserie Valerie.
R. A.
Nice parade with some nice shops. It's always pleasant sitting here on a nice sunny day watching people. The are some decent places to eat, a Waitrose, boots, super drug and Office amongst others
L.
I like! It is not far from the city center but the food is good and you have something to chose from. There are not a lot of people in here which is also important to me. Looks nice and chilly, I assume it is a good place to spend evenings with friends or dates.
s. s.
Good selection of shops and food outlets
P. K.
Pleasant shopping area, convenient for the large Waitrose, but rather lacking in character due to all the chain-restaurants (Giraffe, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Yo!, Carluccio's, etc. etc.).
J. M.
A shopping center in Bloomsbury near Russell square, it is also next to Coram fields where there is the Foundling Hospital which is worth a visit if you are interested in history. When I first went there years ago this center was best described as a dump and certainly not a safe place to be. The only redeeming factor was the cinema which is underground. Over the past few years it has blossomed there are a lot of high street names in both retail and catering and it is buzzing. A good place to get a coffee and watch the world go by.
S. M. A. S.
This is a well managed shopping centre though I would call it a food court because it has a great variety of restaurants. In this centre you will get Waitrose supermarket and Sainsbury's as well as you will get new look, river island and hbos for clothing. As the centre is not big enough, you will not get plenty of choices but you can have everything here. It has a cinema and even a gp practice here.
I. S.
Compact shopping centre with easily-recognisable shops, cafes, restaurants, a Waitrose supermarket and Curzon cinema. There is also a nice stretch of benches in the middle – good for relaxing in the sun or having your lunch, as it’s away from traffic. Very convenient and especially great during the SALE period, as you can get some good bargains 😉
P. W.
Decent array of shops and a number of nice places to eat and drink. We'll located just around the corner from Russell Square station and, from a personal perspective, only 10 mins from my office so it's somewhere that I head to fairly regularly.
E. R.
The Brunswick is very convenient to access and offers a nice variety of shops and restaurants. I live nearby so I go almost every day for coffee, lunch, or grocery shopping. Starbucks and the shopping center itself offer free wifi which is great. My only complaint is that the shops close at 6pm or 7pm and Starbucks does not open until 8am on the weekends and 7am on weekdays.
B. L.
Great place for leisure, good choice of restaurants and few selection of fashion store. Lovely place nonetheless!
R. S.
Is there anything you CANT get at the Brunswick? I love this shopping Centre. I get my nails done here, I buy my groceries, I get shoes and clothes here, I get my coffee, I get my vitamins. I have literally considered switching GPs so I can even go to the doctor here. There’s also a gym!!! What more could you need! Also considering that it’s in the center of London it’s shockingly not crowded.
D. V.
A centrally located shopping mall with a large grocery store. You can find all most common grocery items for reasonable prices. Features quite a large wine section and a good selection of craft beers.
D. H.
Architecturally, it looks like it's been beamed in from somewhere near Cannes circa 1970. One of the few buildings from this era that has undoubtedly improved with age and has long been a local feature and landmark. Shops and the famous Renoir cinema complete the picture
C. L.
Nice place good food options, and close to Russell square station
P. C.
A combined residential and shopping centre development, designed in the late 1960s. Although it is architecturally very imaginative, it never seems to have been that successful and by the resent 2000s it was somewhat run down. A refurbishment was completed around 2006, no doubt funded by money borrowed on promise of letting the retail premises to the collection of boring chain shops and restaurants that now occupy it. The Curzon cinema had also been recently refurbished and is culturally the best thing about it.
Z. T.
relaxing place in the middle of the city. varied choice of shops and cafes
P. W.
A pleasant surprise. We were looking for some where to eat in th Bloomsbury area and found the Brunswick Centre. Plenty of varied eateries. Would recommend if near by.
E. U. A.
A little gem of a place to chill and connected with underground and overground nearby with local parks for children and adults
Z. K.
Chill outdoor shopping mall. Sometimes they have a ping pong table out. On Saturdays there's a market with fresh food. There's a large Waitrose, and a good bubble tea store. Hare & Tortoise Japanese restaurant is pretty good too.
C. F. -. S. -. P.
This centre has many food restaurants catering for Asian, Indian and English food. There are also other stores for clothes and stationary. The court is nice with small water ponds and fountains and seating areas.
S. R.
Good variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. The Waitrose in Brunswick Centre is pretty big and has all the things one can need.
J. B.
just thought it looked super cute here with all the flats and the plants they had, they're was a lot of variety in the small centre
曾.
There's a huge Waitrose
c. w.
Best place to be in London for your shopping especially when the weather is not good. 2 branded supermarkets , most of the popular brands and more, snacks and a food court for meals. You don’t have to leave it for the whole day.
A. B.
Good choice of (mostly chain) restaurants around a pleasant outdoor plaza, with a modest Waitrose supermarket at one end. For a 1960s development it is surprisingly pleasant, especially if the weather is kind enough to dine outside. Carluccios gets my vote.
J. T.
Close to the Russell Square Underground, this place is a really convenient and good shopping centre lined with shops where my family was able to purchase many essential things we needed. This included getting groceries and working mobile SIM cards for Europe. There's also a few speciality stores selling lovely trinkets and postcards. In terms of eateries, there are quite a few including a burger place, an asian restaurant called 'Hare & Tortoise' as well as coffee shops dotted here and there. I think it's a very nice place to come and relax for a bit as well.
s. l.
Nice centre to shop with kids because it’s pedestrian and they can run around safely. Holland and barret (natural food, face creams and remedies) is well stocked and staff is very knowledgeable. I usually do food shopping at The huge Waitrose. Dinner at Hare & Tortoise or Itsu.
C. G.
A small shopping centre hidden in central London, there is a wide variety of places to eat among clothing, health and beauty, and other amenities.
The fountains down the centre of the walkway add to the peaceful calm of this quiet hidden gem.
P. A.
A well-equipped centre with shops that cater to all needs- coffee, food, snacks, groceries, sports, brand outlets for clothing, footwear and accessories ; and a lot more . A very calm and cute little place to relax or spend time with friends in.
J. M.
Great shops good seating area table tennis table for youngsters to enjoy a great cinema and on Saturday a nice mixture of food and book stalls sometimes hat stalls in general fabulous place
S. s. G.
Great little tucked away shopping parade just a
Couple mins walk from Russell Square tube station. The shops sit at the centre of a high rise apartment complex, & so it is not immediately obvious that they are even there. As a Londoner I never knew this place existed & I visited on a Sunday morning when it wasn’t too busy. There is a nice selection of shops, including Office, New Look, River Island, Boots, a decent sized Waitrose and a good selection of eateries. Although some of the shops here tend to be a little smaller than their bigger & busier counterparts at nearby Oxford Street & Covent Garden, there was still a great selection, and overall this was a little hidden gem that I would definitely return to, the next time I venture to that part of town.
G. M.
Have you ever noticed how the staff make the most amazing effort to keep this place clean? It's got a lovely variety of shops, is a stone's throw from Russel Square and fascinating architecture too.
E. T.
It's better than it was 10 years ago but still lacking in many ways. No toilets unless you go for one of the restaurants, many closing shops. Only good for students or tourists living near.
J. L.
nice little shopping centre with a small selection of shops and restaurants with outdoor seating. you will see security staff patrolling the area which is a good sign. saturday they have food stands as well.
I. A.
Amazing atmosphere, really big place, biggest Waitrose in proper central London, good selection of decent chain eateries and cafes, really nice arty cinema. Looks stunning at Christmas time too!
K. N.
Great Centre with several supermarkets including Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco Express. A variety of foods available including several market style food stalls.
S.
Love this square, it has a bit of everything. There are some stores, clothing shops, some restaurants and also a Waitrose as well. There are tons of sitting areas and also some ping pong tables in the open space. One of my favourites in the square is Chatime and Hare and Tortoise for food!
L. C.
This is an open air, rectangular 'U' shaped shopping precinct raised above street level with access via steps or ramp. At the far end is Waitrose with other shops and cafes lining either side as you walk down towards the end. This raised position gives the shopping centre a degree of separation and discouraged through traffic from general pedestrians who are walking on the street level pavement. This is a relief when shopping. There is a great selection of shops though with the exception of the Waitrose the shop units are small so don't expect a massive choice of items in individual stores. Nonetheless there is a great balance of the different kinds of shop and restaurant with no particular one being more dominant than the other (except Waitrose)
R. F.
It's been nicely renovated and it's pleasantly buzzy, though these days it's nearly all food and drink.. Anyway it's nice to see a shopping centre that's fully let with no charity shops
I. T.
Great venue for shopping. I like it, because everything is in one place - stores, cafes, cinema, restaurants and much more.. I enjoy spending my spare time with friends there - shopping or just walking :) It's worth to visit it, but not during the winter.
D. D.
Quite a nice permanent version of a box-park set up, with lots of nice restaurants and a cinema. Lots of variety and obviously quite popular with the nearby London University students who are less than 10 minutes away. The Curzon cinema is definitely something to check out.
T. C.
Lots of choice and well know brands, clean and modern with a fun communal area
M. W.
Nice to see it spruced up
S. L.
It's great for lunch, with tons of cafes, restaurant's, supermarkets and even free ping pong tables! While all the local businesses go here for lunch it has never been too crowded.
A. D.
My first visit to this small shopping area/centre and I found it very pleasant. One minute walk from Russell Square tube and delightfully decorated for xmas. We went to the Curzon Cinema, Waitrose and Yo Sushi and will certainly return when in the area.
A. F.
This is a lovely brutalist shopping centre & apartment complex tucked away in Bloomsbury. It’s been smartened up & looks especially nice at Xmas time, but most of the shops have turned into restaurants & trendy fast-food chains, all a bit pricey, so it’s mostly food & Waitrose now, but it’s got a great indie Cinema, my favourite Curzon, & it’s an architectural treat, so worth stopping by if you’re in the area. There’s also a Saturday market, but again, apart from one good independent used books stand, that’s all trendy food stalls now too.
B. B.
I always visit Waitrose when I'm there. There are plenty of eateries there including Itsu, Yo Sushi, Carlucio's and more. There's a small Sainsbury's too (with a cashpiont). It's a pleasant place in general.
P. N.
You've got Waitrose, Sainsbury and Tesco. Lot of places to eat and they have stalls put up on Saturday which serve some delicious food (Korean, Polish..)
M. B. D. S.
Tian tian supermarket is the one
H. S.
I like the atmosphere of the place. It's a mini centre with everything you need - a big grocery store, some clothes and shoe stores, a cinema and several places to eat. And a great pub just outside of it!
K. C.
Every Sunday afternoon before sun sitting after a half day staying in church service our family always dropping her to rest and to enjoy for a moment. After a very long weekdays in works this is the moment are we always looking for… bonding with my family. This place was now part of our lively basis. I love this place.
C. B.
Always like shopping here. Lovely food places, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Starbucks, new look, Holland and Barratt, and lots more all set around a neat quadrangle. Places to sit outside on a sunny day.
S. H.
Waitrose handy in Centre. Not far from Great Ormond street Hospital
E. M.
The Brunswick Shopping Centre is lovely and well organised. The events they have are amazing and the staff are all polite. Would always recommend this place for shopping and eating.
A. E.
The shopping centre has all the regular conveniences, but it's not the reason to come here. The Brunswick is a much more interesting place to visit for people watching and enjoying the unique - if ugly - ziggurat housing that sits rises above the shopping centre.
k. d.
Very nice place to eat and drink with or without friends!
M. D.
Always looks lovely at Christmas
t. s.
Weird place but i like it. Except gourmet burger kitchen. Gbk isnt very good and its expensive af for what it is. 3 store also very unhelpful. Leon good. Holland and barrat absolute class. Robert dyas excellent. Boots average. I must try the cinema. The waitrose is excellent, absolute supermarket excellence. Even though supermarkets are evil and responsible for the death of small business.
M. N.
Nice shopping centre without getting all suburban. I go there for the waitrose but it has so much more. The area has some great stores outside like second hand books (skoob)
J. K.
Mostly eating venues. Good Waitrose for grocery shopping, Boots, Super drug etc. Clean and tidy. Nice Christmas decorations.
A. A.
Nice Shopping center with all the essentials in one. Waitrose, Sainsbury for groceries and Clothing stores such River Island New look as well as Appliance stores like Robert Dyas as well as many restaurants an cafes such as Yo Sushi and Itsu
H. F.
I've always been v fond of the Brunswick Centre - good sized Waitrose, art house Curzon cinema with 6 (small) screens so lots of variety to choose from, small restaurants and shops (e.g. Nandos, Office), and a few food stalls on Saturdays. Bit of outdoor seating, table tennis tables in the summer, stone's throw from a little park. What more could you want of a local shopping centre?
S. C.
Lovely shopping complex, with a good selection of outlets, including a Waitrose and mini Sainsbury's. When in this area, it is my go-to zone for pretty much all weekly shopping.
D. G.
Interesting mix of shops n eats. Most Saturdays they have a food market (mainly cooked) in the top end near wait rose. Very succulent Polish sausages hot dogs. Chinese dumplings, south American tastes a general mix.
Waitrose, and Sainsbury. Robert dyas, boots and SuperValue, Malaysian Bubble Tea, wagamama, burgers, betting shops. Cinema. Small amount of seating. At the end of the day.... Its a place of transit. You go. You buy. You leave. Isn't that what shopping centres are? There's nothing to see or enjoy that doesn't have a price. How can one eulogise about shopping? Or maybe I am missing something?
L. T.
If you work in the area, it's a fantastic place to come and get lunch, a massive selection of everything from Waitrose, Yo Sushi, GBK, Leon, Giraffe, Starbucks, Sainsburys, and even a Patisserie Valerie, and a Curzon Cinema! And a few others i can't even remember....
A. V.
Nice and quiet retail area in Bloomsbury, 2min walk from Russel Square station. Many options available if hungry and if you fancy shopping in Waitrose supermarket.
J. M.
Great place to hang out in the summer, some good food and shopping options available here. Good to go/meet up with friends for a not so busy night out
T. c.
I was here working for a few days... went in the starbucks was wound up by the cashier asking me “yeah” instead of -hello what can I get you or something along those lines, went in the Waitrose went in the Sainsburys went in the Robert Dyas ‘basically its a pretty cool place where the theatre crowds can get them selfs designer clothing or buy some food & drink. Its worth mentioning that above the shopping arcade are listed buildings, council tenements so you have a very cool melting pot of rich an poor, in one place.
M. R.
Went into Specsavers because I broke my glasses before coming to the UK. I ran out of contact lenses so I was wearing my last pair. The person at the counter was very lovely and patient for explaining me that in the UK you need a prescription before buying contact lenses (it’s different in Belgium). So luckily for me they had a free session for a check up and prescription in twenty minutes. So my family and I went for a coffee at Crussh. A lovely vegan place. We forgot a bag when we were heading out and the worker came rushing with our bag. Meaning they clear the tables after the customers leaves so great and clean service. And Specsavers saved my trip with a prescription or else I would have been visiting London with a very very poor sight.
N. C.
A lot of stuff was closed but it was nice still 👍🏼
B. W.
Great small shopping centre, includes pharmacy, a range of eateries, waitrose, some clothes shops, optician, cinema, robert dyas, office, and quite a few useful clothing stores (New Look, Hobbs etc)
D. K.
Feels very local. Can find everything you need. Good outdoor cafes and venues for quick cheeky drink. Not overcrowded.
N. P.
Good variety and atmosphere. The architecture looks really cool too
F. H.
This is one of the shopping places that offer you the best of everything - shopping, eating, movie watching or just hanging around. It's just a minutes walk from Russell Square Station and equipped with shops for almost everything you want to do in a jiffy - clothes shopping, grocery shopping, eating, drinking, watching movies, hanging out etc.
This is a very cozy and good-looking place for the entire family - a perfect afternoon picnic kind of a place.
BONUS: There is a NHS Centre right in the corner near Waitrose.

Came to the FUWA FUWA cafe that specialises in Japanese souffle pancakes. The staff are so nice, they play Korean music, spacious place, nice interior, fluffy clouds everywhere. Also the pancakes are light and fluffy, you must try. They only take card payments though.

Sweet place. Recommended

Nice area for coffee & a movie, always been a favourite

A wonderful Shopping Centre in a Brownswick residential area is always neat and clean. A lovely atmosphere where you can go not only for shopping but to chill out as well. They also offer free Wi-Fi.

I liked this shopping mall, very close ti Russell Square Station and it is a perfect place to enjoy the sunny day, there are also different gazebos where you can buy nice fresh food for a goos price.

I was visiting a friend at the UC Hospital in London, near Euston tube station, and I the car park I found via Google happened to be under the Brunswick Centre. What a pleasant surprise to find such a vibrant open air walk full of shops and chain restaurants (Carluccio's, Iguana, Starbucks and many more I forget)! There is even a Waitrose there! Walking distance from the hospital and a place to unwind on your way back.

Amazing place ☺️

Nice little out of town intimate place to have a coffee and a bite to eat and do a little bit of shopping or hitting the westend for a night out.
R. J. S. N.
Great and area full of clothing stores such as New Look, Office, Top Shop, plus a great Waitrose, Holland & Barrett and Sainsbury's Local. Also plenty of options for food, Itsu, Yo! Sushi, Los Iguanas, GBK. There's cash machine and a NHS GP too.
There's also a cinema that I've never been too but is very well know.
S. I.
If you like Brutalist architecture (like I do), then this is an example you should visit.
Not my favourite (like the National Theatre and Royal College of Physicians), but very important.
G. R. (.
One of my favourite places to dine with my family. Great shops around and family-friendly restaurants, this is an area in London that you can't go wrong because almost everything is already there.
N. G.
I visited this shopping center after late lunch with a friend. It is open plan, with a variety of well known stores and restaurants (Boots, Superdrug, etc.) It is located near Russell Square tube station. It is also open late.
R. C.
Good Waitrose and some clothes shops such as New Look and Office and Oasis, also near independent shops like Gays the Word, second hand books and PO that is open on Sundays till 2pm
L. R.
A great alternative to the high street or shopping centres. A good selection of food, clothes, groceries and other essentials. Haven't tried the theatre yet, but it seems nice.
R. L.
Good place to shop and relax. It's just pity that due to the pandemic many eating places were closed.
C. H.
Nice shopping/dining/cinema centre! A range of restaurants, shops (some designer), Renoir Cinema & a Waitrose, conveniently situated by Russell Square tube station.
J. B.
Great example of modernist architecture. Everything is built around a medium sized square, with restaurants, cafes and shops, including a large Waitrose supermarket on ground level and residential flats above.
There is also the lovely art house Bloomsbury Curzon cinema situated at ground level, they attract a nice refined class of people. There are often free cultural events organised in the main square.
The Brunswick Centre attracts local residents and a lot of medical students studying at the nearby university, so a very nice mixed crowd.
D. T.
Trendy! Nice open space incident the mall as sort of a patio! Very pleasant and not overcrowded! Very Nice restaurant like the Gourmet Burger Company! Absolutely à Nice place...
G. S.
Very good for shopping it's nearby my work and it's local
Y. M.
The centre is abit odd and i like not worth the trip if your going especially for it not unless your watching a film at Curzon. If your near King Cross you should check it out though.
S. A.
Lovely open-air mall. Great variety of restaurants, shops and cafes. Very well located, almost in front of Russel square station.
A. B.
Most stuff you want and great to have access to this stuff at work. Not the most beautiful surrounds but clean and hassle free. Waitrose, boots, clothes, cafes, food etc
s.
Situated just opposite the Russell Square Underground Station, The Brunswick is a relaxing place to shop, you can find almost everything here- groceries, clothes, shoes, secondhand books, cosmetic products. Visit on a Saturday between 11am to 6pm for the weekly Shepherds Market run by friendly passionate traders.
D. B.
Good selection of shops and restaurants.
f. r.
Very cosy place to enjoy quality time
K. T.
The Brunswick is a great place to eat and shop without the crowds you often find on London. It is still expanding with a Leon recently added and a Tossed on the way. The Curzon Bloomsbury is a beautiful cinema and shows great art house films and documentaries.
E. G.
The area is busy most times of day + evenings + it is very cosmopolitan. The Brunswick centre has everything, all sort of stores, caffes + restaurants that u will find in Oxford street + it's kept clean + safe. The Renoir cinema has bn there for many years but in the recent years has bn taken by the Curzon cinemas.I like it + would recommend a visit !!
V. C.
Great outdoor shopping centre near Russell Square. Since its modernisation a few years ago, it has lots of places to eat including Hare & Tortoise (Oriental), GBK, Giraffe, Las Iguanas, Carluccios, Itsu, etc. There is also a large Waitrose and the indie Renoir cinema.
B. M.
Easily accessible shopping centre (about 15 minute walk south of King's Cross and across the street from Russell Square) with three grocery stores, several places to eat (including Nando's, Itsu, Yo! Sushi, Great Burger Kitchen, Giraffe, Iguanas, Carluccio's), two coffeeshops, a cinema, and other boutiques/home goods stores. Waitrose is by far the largest establishment in the centre. Lovely lights display during Christmas season (late December). Every Saturday there is an open-air prepared food market in the courtyard -- great to stop by for lunch.
H. U.
Decent choice of stores, excellent options for lunch during business hours.
A. S.
Good vibe and lots of food places
J. B.
The Brunswick Centre, like all things "centre" is almost designed not to be reviewable. A sort of oasis of bland. It's asexuality a badge of honour. The box fountains. The concrete. Like a spaceship of boredom. Three stars well earned.
S. F.
Excellent service from Hardeep, assistant manager at Brunswick Centre store. He made sure everything was up and running. And he is so courteous and efficient. Big Thank You to him.
S. D.
Brilliant hidden shopping centre right by Russell Square - calm, clean, and full of top-quality shops with an especially enormous Waitrose. Hare & Tortoise does great dim sum, Space NK has all the best cosmetics brand, Renoir is a fine indie cinema and there's plenty more. Farmer's market with pop-up secondhand bookshop on Saturdays seals the deal - this place is great.
O. C.
Love the Bloomsbury vibe here!
D.
Great place to shop
V. H.
Love this shopping place. Very convenient.
B. H.
A very fine shopping centre in Bloomsbury with the usual variety of shopping, restaurants, bars and the excellent Renoir cinema. It is surrounded by Russell Square and Brunswick Square and a selection of museums, large and small.
M. L.
The food on the Greek restaurant is ok, and there is heaters outside.
L. M.
Ugly 60s shopping centre in a 60s brutality housing complex near Warren Street. Generally full of chain restaurants, like Las Iguanas, Giraffe etc. There are much better places to go for shopping and eating.
m. n.
in a Wednsday afternoon is a pleasure to go there. It is not very loud or crowded, just perfect to spend time in a coffe shop or to have lunch in one of the restaurant.
R. K.
They have a plenty of little cafes that is nice - from healthy burgers to art cafes and starbucks as well. In weekends they have market area in the center where locals sell food and other stuff.
B. A.
Good place to eat a great variety of restaurants covering a large range of foods ,some clothes shops mainly catering for women and a few other shops and an art house cinema.
A. B. B.
Ben’s Cookies was amazing. Christmas edition rum and raisin ones were perfect. The Starbucks was nice but its toilet was extremely dirty. Such a shame.
E. S.
Its a lovely little shopping centre with coffee bars, places to eat, lots of little shops, a supermarket, boots, so its worth a visit..
K. U.
Good local shopping centre. An excellent supermarket (Waitrose), a number of high street brand clothes shop, an interesting Cinema, some nice restaurants and a tasty farmers market on Saturdays
S. Z. /. E.
Very central great for lunch meetings dates... lunch menus available n affordable... can shop and also close to bigger shopping outlets
R. M.
Great centre! Lots of great shops and restaurants. Only knocking it for parking, no discount in NCP for customers and no loos. Angel centre has loos.
A. Z.
Great place to eat and shop. Love the Waitrose there, one of the best I have been to in London.
N. R. (.
Some useful shops and a good choice of places to eat. Well maintained, with outdoor seating. There's table tennis available, if you like that sort of thing.
T. B.
Pleasant place. Go on Saturday lunchtime if possible as they have a good street market. However try to avoid the Waitrose unless you go in the early morning or else you'll be waiting at least 15 minutes in the queue to pay.
R. A.
Nice parade with some nice shops. It's always pleasant sitting here on a nice sunny day watching people. The are some decent places to eat, a Waitrose, boots, super drug and Office amongst others
M. S.
Loved the pink elephant...
A. R.
Shopping centre located just next to the tube station. Good brands, some food chains. The centre is not too big so good for a quick shopping visit. Shops are accessed from outside, which I prefer, but in bad weather that may be an issue.
L. R.
A great alternative to the high street or shopping centres. A good selection of food, clothes, groceries and other essentials. Haven't tried the theatre yet, but it seems nice.
D. G.
Fabulous.
R. H.
Small but has a good selection of shops and restaurants for the size, I can get everything I need here. There's often interesting art works on display and they do community events.
D.
Lush, has most shops you need, good location to
E. Y.
Lots of shops closed down due to covid but still some really excellent places to eat.
M. W.
Worth a look for Skoob books round the back. There's a food market on Saturdays where there is a good bookstall(actually skoob books). Otherwise pretty much the usual shops.
T. G.
A beautiful post war social housing development - the tiered flats above the renovated shopping centre are a great example of 1970's modernism.
A. R.
Excellent selection of local stores and eating places with its own cinema
X. S.
My airbnb was at Brunswick. Retails were on level 1 and apartments were on the upper level. Convenient for late night grocery shopping. Strategically located. Accessible to many major train stations.
M. G.
It's good but not great mainly due to the lack of outside seating and vibes you get off the place
S. W. (. A.
Good variety of shops and restaurants.
1.
It is a great place to have a burger, and cheap.. They gave as a free meal offer for our next visit because they took so long with our order
I. D.
Lots of shops in the middle that you don't see from the street. A medical centre, eateries, waitrose. And the cinema too. Busy place next to brunswick park (small), coram's field, and great ormond street.
K. L.
A great place for food and shopping. Not very pricy but with lots of chouces.
F. M.
Nice place to eat and shop from food to clothes, a lot of coffee shop, restaurant, grocery store, hairdresser, beautician, mobile shops, very nice place to have the lunch break
A. H.
Verry quite. Also looking, old and outdated but still had all the shops you need.
A. M. J.
I usually go here for the Carluccio's, but I also live SKOOB, the used book shop round the back of the big Waitrose (which itself is another bonus). Also has a Curzon cinema. Lots of good stuff here.
J. L.
Great location for shopping if you are or a family 👪 member in hospital in Queens square or Russell square either Great olmond hospital or any of the Neurological hospitals in both squares, only thing missing for me was a m&s all other shops great anything you need, from cloths, food or to eating out or the cinema
E. S.
Is a nice and clean place, there are some well known shops like River Island, 3 , Robert Dias, supeedrug, etc. and great restaurants, and next to this there is a lovely park. Excellent!
n. m.
Refurbished bit of modernism. Shows what you can do if you show a building a bit of love. Fairly average mid to high end high street offering with notable exception of renoir cinema.
J. W.
Entirely undistinguished modern shopping centre, almost completely filled with familiar high-street brands from the upper end of the scale. The only artistic saving grace is the Modernist architecture itself, from Patrick Hodgkinson, with central water features by Susanna Heron. Within the Brunswick is a branch of the Curzon cinema chain which contains a dedicated screen for documentaries, the Bertha DocHouse, which I thoroughly recommend. Nearby attractions include the restful and cultured Brunswick Square Gardens which is a far better place to await a cinema performance when compared to the Brunswick shopping centre itself.
Z. B.
Nice food and shopping..very nice place
J. N.
Great selection of restaurants and convenient stores such as Boots and Robert Dyas and a large waitrose
M. J.
Love Brunswick. I live quite close and Brunswick has a great mixture of food, clothes and drinks places. You can also just relax on the benches and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.
J. E.
Some of the shops are expensive but the location is good. Very near Russell Sq
J. w. l.
This shopping centre has it all! Waitrose, plenty of restaurants, shoes, drugstores, coffee, salads, icecream, and an open square to sit and rest by running water, very nice.
m. b.
Nice shopping area with many cafes and restaurants. Also some of the scenes in the film Kingsman were shot here in the flats above
f. m.
Great shopping centre with plenty of cafes and the brilliant Curzon cinema, expensive parking £28.00 a day plenty of seating, good central area.
m. m.
It is a good place for shopping for lots of different stores
j. b.
Much derided, controversial early 1970's 'mixed-use' Brutalist complex only recently verging on the folkloric and iconic.
Despite the brouhaha, now a thriving retail/entertainment/residential hub sandwiched between the trendy Marchmont Street and Brunswick Square garden.
Fortuitously the footprint, proportions and flavour are 'spot-on' contemporary and appealing.
M. A.
Visited in the morning and went to starbucks there. Very Comfortable and had a good time. Explored some of the shops inside the center as well. Well managed and recommended
D. W.
Great local retail hub and of course one of the best cinemas in London, that is if you like them small, comfortable and for grown-ups.
A. S.
I'd heard that there was a shopping centre hiding near Russell Square, but I didn't expect the Brunswick Centre to be so lovely. It's an outdoor centre with a handful of decent fashion shops like Joy, River Island, French Connection and more, as well as fancier brands like Hobbs and Space NK. There are a few chain restaurants dotted about the place too (Giraffe, Nando's, Strada) but nothing special. If you're in central London and want to do some shopping, Brunswick Centre is far more relaxed than Oxford Circus.
M. B.
I love it. Good place to have a break!
R. S.
The one stop place for all your needs! You have all kinds of supermarket here (Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury), multiple restaurants and even a cinema! It's just a stone's throw from the tube station as well
K. G.
Brunswick centre has evolved over the years bringing in a selection of great shops and restaurants to the area. Excellent location.
M. A. A.
The Brunswick is an excellent place for food, shopping or just simply relaxing in a bright sunny day. This site has top brands like French Connection, River Island, United Colors of Benetton etc, excellent place to eat such as Giraffe, Itsu, Nandos, GBK, great place for groceries like Waitrose and Sainsbury and finally Boots and Superdrug for cosmetics/pharmaceuticals. There is a Farmer's market every Saturday which attracts a lot of vendors and customers and creates a lively environment.
B. C. E.
Nice ambiance. Looks real nice. People are polite and helpful.
J. O. N.
All you could want under one roof. 3 stories of shopping with bus and train to the door. Plenty of food options so you could have a great day shopping.
M. H.
Brunswick Centre is an interesting place, nice shop's and in a Saturday there is a great food market. Try the fish burger stand - brilliant.
T. H.
Best place for all your shopping needs.there are different stores such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen, various easteries including Carluccio’s, etc,...
E. C.
Good variety of food and retail outlets. The retail outlets are quite small but good for if you have time for a quick browse
C. M.
Great place, plenty of things to do/eat at/see just, a lot of seating, just needs bins, like seriously I've not seen any bins there :S
