The staff here are always very polite and helpful. Not having much experience with the metro, the were happy to answer all questions and concerns that I had, and make sure I feel comfortable with my journey!

Central Station was a state of the art building in it's day of the highest quality. It's old now with tons of history, but it's still a magnificent building which is kept clean and tidy and is well run. It has several small shops and a cafe. The toilets are kept very clean. It has plenty of good quality regular trains to just about everywhere, and there's a handy entrance down into the Metro line which is also a great service with clean smart carriages. These give you great views of the River Tyne right down to the seaside.

N.B. Most reviews/photos posted here erroneously relate to the overground train station rather than underground metro station. Good access to Newcastle Central Station (by escalator/stairs or lift) plus adjoining streets but appallingly dismal makeover with dingy black and blue panelling having replaced the original light cream and yellow ... just as well some comfortable seats - although few in number - have finally been installed and one usually doesn't have to wait very long for a (metro) train!!

Central station is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. In the winter months make sure you wrap up warm when waiting for your train as it's very cold.

A key piece of architecture in Newcastle upon Tyne, Central Station is the main port for national rail. Recently refurbished, you can choose from small cafés to catch a bite to eat or pop to Burger King or M&S for something a bit bigger. The station is still being refurbished, so expect construction work.

A busy station with style and plenty of atmosphere even though people are in transit. There are bars and places to eat as well as some where to buy a gift or something to read.

Easy to get around and with a good selection of stores, the train station is ideal for both regular commuting and holiday travel. Trains are available to places across the North East and UK, including Edinburgh, Durham, York, Liverpool, and London. It's well connected to the local bus routes, which can take you deep into nearby Gateshead, as well as both the Green and Yellow Metro Lines. With a Sainsbury's and M&S on site, you can easily grab breakfast while waiting for your train, and, for Coffee drinkers, there are plenty of places. If you prefer not to pay an arm and a leg, the station is right next to a Gregg's that sells drinks for next to nothing.

Central Station was recently refurbished and is one of the nicest stations on the Metro network. Trains every 12 minutes to Newcastle City Centre, Newcastle Airport, Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Gateshead, South Shields and Sunderland. Also has an exit directly into the mainline station.

LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT! Central is the name of the UNDERGROIND station NOT the main train station NCL. Most pictures and comments...but not all.. are about Newcastle-upon-Tyne main line to London etc station. Acsess to Central is from outside or inside the railway station. You can get to Airport,Coast,St James,etc from Central. BUT to Morpeth Berwick Edinburgh Doncaster etc London from Newcastle central Station.Google map shows both.

Always clean and tidy. Trains have always been running to time whenever I've been there. Easy to get in and out, and the metro is good too.
