Reviews of Norwich Lanes
P. H.
We love wandering through the lanes when visiting Norwich. Lots of places to eat and drink all independent and an eclectic mix of shops it's worth checking out out the church that's an antique and vintage shop the walk have areas of medieval paintings as well as a beautiful carved ceiling. I always spend too much in these places
T. P.
I love to wander the Lanes, it offers an amazing collection of shops, cafes and curiosity.
You can find everything from hardware to essential oils, antiques to fancy dress, all dressed up in historic lanes.
Always changing, always fun!
S. J.
Excellent range of independent shops. In the lanes around the market. Great places to eat. Great vegan choice Long may they continue.
C. B.
Lot's of cool independent stores, coffee shops and restaurant's. Probably the best thing about Norwich itself, apart from the cathedral of course.
W. M.
Oh I do love to amble around shopping lanes and this was the full experience. Needed more time really as we took in the market too. Must go back soon.
E. Y.
A great place with great food and quality goods, one of the most interesting spot in Norwich.
J. G.
Probably the best shopping centre in the country, next to the 900 year old market which is certainly the best in the country
F. L.
We stopped off in Norwich on route to great Yarmouth to do the Nooks and Crannies walks of which there are three.
We completed walks A and B and saw many alleys, churches and historic buildings.
Not always easy to follow the instructions but we got to the finishing line feeling that we had seen parts of Norwich that we would have missed otherwise.
Walks A and B took in the Cathedral and Castle.
L. B.
Historic shopping area with loads of independent shops and cafes.
N. D.
Nothing special just a few interesting shops
D. C.
Essential part of the City's shopping experience.
N. I.
Decent marketplace with a nice variety of shops. Best to go for food as that's what they have the most of. Plenty different options from butchers to beer and many different types of cuisine. Could easily go there once a day for a week trying food from different places. Only downside is a fair few closed up shops. Could do with more regular stalls rather than food places.
J. C.
Love Norwich lanes, great shops and food
R. L.
Norwich Lanes are dotted around the city of Norwich, and link the old Merchant's Yards. Labour in Vain Yard is in use, opposite the Guildhall. Worth a look!
Civil Disobedience - Norwich folk have always needed a place to let off steam, take Upper Goats Lane just up the hill from Labour in Vain yard, walk down to the excellent fish n chip shop, and across to the church green.... You can do it there!
The roads around old Bank Plain are some distance away, and it shows where the old high streets might have formed...
You can walk down, cross the road by the back of Jarrods, and up to Bank Plain. Cafes are available!
M.
I love it, you can find the most mysterious and beautiful stores in Norwich. The stores are varied and interesting on its own way. I think they worth the shot if you're looking for anything secondhand. I recommend this lane and all of its little bussines, also it's right in the city centre so you can enjoy the beautiful architecture.
R. L.
These are historic lanes and have some good shops, cafes and pubs and the Maddermarket theatre too. Worth an explore!
J. B.
Huge everything you could want
T. D.
Fantastic place, loads of stalls, selling just about everything, from food, pet supplies to Army surplus and much, much more. Love it ❤
N. “. S.
Love Norwich. Never tire of going there. There's ancient and new. Two cathedrals, the original Guildhall built by Henry IV. Permanent market, two huge shopping malls and loads of proper shops! Oh yeah and pubs. Thought I'd mention that.
J. G.
Great thriving Market! Great selection of world foods and traditional market stalls. We'll worth the visit
V. M.
Beautiful garden, open certain Sundays for various charities. Plants available for sale as well.
A. G.
Norwich lanes is quite a large area. I would say to walk from the top of the market at castle mall all the way through to ten end of stuff Benedict's will take at least an hour if you visit several shops.
There is a huge array of shops and services on offer, including food and drink. Benches are dotted about here and there and the roads are generally wide enough that you're not too pressed in together.
A must for any visit to Norwich.
R. B.
Nice group of shops
D. W.
A nice place to visit in Norwich
R. H.
My favourite part of Norwich, a great energy, great food and wonderful selection of independents .
P. T.
Couldn't find anything nice on the lanes. It is nothing like the lanes in Brighton. Mostly food outlets, so I guess it comes to life more in the evening. Was not the collection of little shops I was expecting to see.
N. R.
Excellent place to go shopping or browsing. Oh is a great atmosphere whatever time of year you go here. This is another great place to people watch I would recommend it. There are clothes shops cafes you mention it they got it.
V. M.
Beautiful cityscapes and young vibe nightlife.
G. S.
It's not a shopping mall, it's a series of stores in the streets. They're great but it gets a bit confusing and there should be more benches in the streets to sit between shopping. However, that's great the council's responsibility.
C. L.
Wide range of shops and restaurants available plus coffee shops if you're just wanting to relax and kill time.
Only downside is that there's minimal law enforcement in that area during busier club night hours so there's minimal deterrent present.
C. M.
Very nice local in market place with many varieties of shops ideal for everyone many choices for buy what we want in Norwich!
K. A.
There are plenty of good reasons to visit Norwich but if you like shopping in small, interesting, off beat places then this area is sure to delight you.
B. P.
Excellent range of local shops selling a very wide range of quality products. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. Cafés and restaurants are also excellent and reasonably priced.
R. T.
Quite simply, the Norwich Lanes contains the best independent shops and businesses in the city.
There's fantastic places to eat and drink with coffee shops such as Strangers and Alchemista, brilliant no-nonsense food from the Falafel bar and The Grosvenor fish bar, high-end food from Benedicts and The Iron House. That's not to mention Jarrolds, which has a couple of restaurants/cafes/wine bars, and just keeps getting better and better.
The range of shops is incredible, with Dogfish, Sevenwolves, and The Tannery (to name but a few) providing a superior range of clothing. There's interesting gifts available in places like Lisa Angel, Quest and the Gift Emporium. There is also a multitude of barbershops, salons, and cosmetic clinics dotted around. The Birdcage, Franks Bar, or Les Garrigues provides ideal locations for a drink or two. There's also plenty of culture on offer, with The Maddermarket Theatre, Cinema City, Norwich Arts Centre, and a couple of art galleries and museums about.
Basically, you name it, Norwich Lanes can offer it.
P. a.

Norwich lanes? Do you mean like the Brighton lanes? It's nothing like that. its part of the branding of Norwich. (Shops selling tat you can easily get elsewhere.)
M. F.
Loads of really great shops with all sorts on offer. Good food and clothing shops and whilst it's not quite the Brighton lanes, it has it's own charm.
