Reviews of Clarendon Centre Oxford
A. P.
The University City of Oxford. Overflowing with international students and student pubs. A combination of historical buildings and modern structures.
J. P.
It's planning to be pulled down and rebuilt as a public open space with some shops so gradually the existing shops are closing. TKmax is still there. It's now just a useful cut through from Cornmarket Street to the new shopping centre when it's raining.
J. G.
Just like all of Oxford centre. An absolute pain if you drive there. Park and ride is useless as it's probably quicker to walk than the bus journey and when busses eventually arrive, they get stuck in the same traffic!
G. D.
Got a great small variety of shops just generally pretty small and overshadowed
s. o. t. s.
Such a lovely place to stroll through even if you don't want to shop.
T. P.
Fabulous day out with family birthday and Christmas presents today
c. b.
Half empty of shops, a taste of how the city may look without tourists' or students money. Nice and ordinary
A. R.
Awesome Christmas atmosphere. Staff were helpful and friendly in any shop visited. The Christmas market was beautiful with lovely stalls... especially the gluhwein on a chilly day.
D. E.
Adverts show a lot in reality is nothing much. If you not live there (locally) is no point to go there...
H. D.
Lots of stores and cheaper prices compared to the surrounding shops
g. g.
Very nice shopping centre , would visit again
E. H.
Currently under construction but used to be a great area for shopping. I think there are plans to renovate it soon
L. M.
Vety busy when visited. Good variety of shops on site.
E. E.
There are some really good shops, however many units are empty. I believe that it is awaiting redevelopment so hopefully in the not too distant future we shall see a new and improved Clarendon Centre.
M. L.
Nice place to spend time, shopping to drink coffee
d. T.
It's not the same in there anymore since some of the shops have gone, to many empty shops
M. B.
I like this place only because there is Tkmaxx, my favourite place to buy clothes, accessories and other stuff... 🌹
V. K.
Nice place for shopping & to spend your time
T. J.
So many units are closed or relocated to the Westgate shopping centre still a few original vendors available just seems strange and unfamiliar but you can still find a few bargains
M. C.
Gradually dying since the reopening of the Westgate, many empty units.
P. L.
Not many shops at the moment. But the ones that are still on going. Seem to be holding up with there trade.
E. P.
I'm sad for the Clarendon Centre. It's lost its way. It's lost its shops - and shoppers - to the Westgate Centre. It's an amazing location, and deserves to beore than a cut-through for rainy days. It needs someone with a vision to give it new life... Perhaps Jesus, when their new development is complete? One star is for everyone still working there, holding the fort, and another for the memory of its glory days!
c. m.
I just walked pass this centre. I hope more shops will open in it.
J. D.
Beautiful university buildings lots to see and do. Pleasant river walks and large open parks. Very large indoor shopping centre. I recommend park and ride. If you drive into the centre of Oxford you'll spend a long time trying to find a parking space.
m. b.
Easy shopping, needs more seating areas for comfort break
D. N.
Several shops closed, TK Maxx is prominent, may have suffered from the opening of Westgate.
A. W.
Excellent healthy food, and lovely staff. 😍
J. (.
Many of the shops have not reopened since the pandemic
O. R. (.
Has a good small Costa coffee. A few clothes shops as well as a h & M. It is small too compared to the Westgate. Fairly priced shop's mostly.
J. B.
Huge center. Everything is there. Fantastic
K. H.
Lacks character:one of the empty shops should cater for families, somewhere to feed and change small children, with a toy area.
Needs a good toyshop.
D. T.
Typical modern shopping centre. Not much more to say.
b. k.
Kind of gone down hill with all store closures.
C. S.
A really enjoyable first visit. The closest large shopping centre to myself in size would probably be the Bull Ring in Birmingham. However I really think its worth the hour and a half journey to come shopping here and have a bite of lunch than visiting the Bull Ring which is only 30 minutes away from me. Would definitely recommend a visit and I was suitably impressed with the range of shops.
M. M.
Brilliant little shopping centre slap bang in the Oxford City centre. Great choice of different shop to look at. Very modern architecture and definitely in keeping with the designs of today. If I am ever back in The Mighty Ox Centre I will make sure to visit this place again and will recommend it to close friends, family and Jerome. Very good spot.
C. z.
basically hanging on to life now due to Westgate centre
A. K. N. A.
A good shopping complex with a finest food court
K. M.
Nice layout however there is little roofing over large portions of the centre which can be quite troublesome during poor weather. Many stores which one would expect are present, with the majority being upscale clothing stores.
Л. С.
Not so many people on Friday
C. N.
Worth a visit. Places to have a coffee and a snack+ some retail therapy.
A. R.
This centre used to be good with high end shops etc. But now, it's almost empty and is filled with independent or souvenir shops. People just seem to go through there to use as shortcut to Westgate. But it's still a lot better than the deserted high street.
A. A.
I've just bypassed here in this trip but had been to there fee years ago.
It doesn't seem to have great changes since I can still see the shop selling dessert from outside the mall.
No matter what, there should be no toilet inside if it has still not been changed. Better don't rush in for toilet or you will end up with disappointment.
Enjoy your shopping, go to Westgate or M&S for washrooms.
A. V.
Pedestrian-friendly Cornmarket Street, commonly known as the "Corn," is Oxford's busiest shopping street. Along with its many big-brand shops and department stores, it's also home to the historic Golden Cross arcade, popular for its craft and jewelry shops, and the Covered Market. Dating from 1774, the market houses an eclectic mix of food retailers.
Also of interest is the former Crew Inn. Here, Shakespeare is said to have stayed on his journey between Stratford and London. It's also where you'll find St. Michael's Church, notable for its early Norman tower.
G. C.
My daughter likes this place
B. K. S.
Great ancient education centre in the Uk
S. D.
Very nice place to spend time with family
E. O.
In keeping with the nationwide trend about half the shops have not reopened. Has now got a coronavirus test centre.
R. M.
I used to work there and I think the place need more security guys because there are lots of people stealing in the shops. But is is ok to spend time there if Westgate is full of people or if is raining. You can have a coffee at Costa (tell them you want it not too hot if you don’t want to get your tongue burned).
S. T.
Nice shopping centre gave chance to everyone to visit. There are need more security for advice people who never been.
D. F.
Very nice place to shop in Oxford, visited by train.
z.
Great choices of food and drink, had a nice time at the costa there. The electronics store there is great as well as the three.
L. E.
Has the best pasty/sausage roll place in Oxford and is located right in the middle of the city so once you are done with your shopping you can go and explore the wonderful old buildings throughout the rest of Oxford. Overall a top notch shopping centre with a great location.
G. H.
Quite empty most of the shops seem to be closed, probably due to the new Westgate centre
K. F.
Very good shopping mall
C. T.
A small part of the extensive Oxford outdoor/indoor shopping centre. This indoor area has a small number of shops which is good to have when its raining outside like it was when I recently visited there. Arriving by train if you live nearby is the best option because Parking currently (due to the main shopping centre and car park being closed for refurbishment) is very scarce. There is also park and ride available too. Do plan ahead though.
F. M.
Very quiet now the Westgate is here - most shops have moved. Although some good shops remain, H&M, Costa, and KIKO, there are still numerous vacant spaces. It is usually quite dirty when I go but it is a light coloured setting so it must be hard to keep clean.
M. H.
A very convenient centrally located in the centre of Oxford shopping mall that is pleasant to shop and walk around.
There are almost all the useful items of clothing, fashion, accessories one could buy in the neat and modern outlets. There are famous coffee shops to have a break and walk from one Main Street to the other through the centre.
The nearest car park is a new multi-storey car park about ten minutes walk from the centre. Otherwise mist busses stop outside the centre for convenient access.
D. S.
Quiet not very busy. Just the way we like it.
A. F.
It's a big covered marketplace. There are various shops under the roof, most especially I love the cake makers shop because they have lots of designer cakes that goes for different occasions. They also make customised cakes to fit whatever occasion you want it for such as wedding and birthdays. There was an Italian type ice cream shop in there too. Lots of fashion shops and so on and so forth. It's a conglomeration of whatever you may want to buy under a roof.
E. L.
Located in Oxford City Center, this center has quite a no of shops. The shop i am particularly Interested in is TKMax. It has two floors and has a range of good items at very attractive prices. Recently i bought a stainless steel flask which keeps warm water for 12 hours at a very competitive price compared to John Lewis or Debenhams.
t. H.
This is a very attractive shopping center which H and M retail shop and perfume shop body shop as well as Costa coffee at it is beautiful that people like to use the Costa as it is unique for finding that you have a sitting 20 yards to the famous GAP clothing store small attractive Oxford shopping centers recently TK max retail shop opened one week ago
S. G.
It has a nice variety of shops for the family and a Costa where you can eat. However the clothes shops such as Zara and H&M aren't very nice with a very minimum variety of clothes. It is also a bit out of date and you can tell that it need spicing up a little bit.
s. c.
Pleasent shopping experience although limited shops
B. R.
Nice but too many empty shops.
K. L.
Great selection of shops. H Samuel just closed but there is Goldsmiths for gems. Padarok just opened a new shop that is bigger than their last store. Zara, French Connection and others, not forgetting dunking donuts.
B. T.
Great shops only not a lot of parking for 21ft motohome
W. E.
A small shopping centre with fewer shops than previously, as some have closed down or gone to the Westgate Centre. However, TK Max have moved in and the Body Shop is still there, and there is a handy Costa. A new eatery has just opened called Tortilla with burritos and tacos on offer, and much more. The management seem to be succeeding in filling empty units. Being in the heart of Oxford it is easily accessible.
A. B.
"Shopping Centre" is a strong word, but it's got about 10 shops. Nothing terribly exciting, mostly mobile phone shops, a couple jewelry shops.
A. L.
Good shopping centre in the centre of Oxford. Plenty of different types of shops available - clothes, food, technology, jeweler, a cafe etc. Place was clean but very busy. Overall okay but could improve slightly.
P. L.
Great choice of shops easy to navigate. My only complaint/comment would be having to go to the top floor at the far end of the complex for the toilets.
W. A.
Big with all the top shops with good eating up on the roof.
A. A.
The car park was empty when we arrive but gosh £5.70 per hr is so expensive. We end up paying as is central. Maximum stay 2 hrs.
T. M.
It used to be a really good shopping center, and still has some very good shops in it, however I fear that the Westgate and upcoming Northgate shopping centers may take more customers away from here. More shops really need to move it to make this place viable
S. C.
Lots of the shops have now closed, so there's not much left to go to.
N. L.
I like the Clarendon Centre. It's in a good place and it has a nice atmosphere. The reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because a lot of the nice shops have moved to the Westgate. A shame!
P. B.
2 many designer stores
T. R.
I'm surprised it's still around. Sad to see so many closed shops though
F. P.
Great place to do some shopping and to get a bite to eat or a nice tea or coffee. And it's nice and warm .the staff in all the shops are very friendly and welcoming. Give it a try .
A. D.
It has primark for primark enthusiasts, and another variety of shops to do some shops.
The good rooftop
F. A.
Lovely pub, great beers and very good staff, specially during the pandemic time, they are really taking all the precautions needed
J. B.
After all the time it took to refurbish it is much safer and cleaner. But the selection of stores could be better
L.
So many shops have gone there isn't much left!
J. L.
This used to be a really nice small centre, but unfortunately alot of the shops have now closed.
Admitingly most of them have moved over to the new Westgate.
Thank God Tkmax is moving in there.
C. A.
Lovely shopping experience would highly recommend
T.
everyone will find something nice there
O. T.
Moderately good arcade of shops. Middle of the range, a bit average. Nothing that special, good central proximity in Oxford center.
I. G.
Was alright, not very busy. Not a lot to do or see. Quite dull but good if you want to shop while it's raining
A. M.
Not good
I. M.
Not much left open
I.
I lost a packet of maltesers in there last week. Very disappointed in myself.
A. H. (.
Sadly this place has fallen on hard times since the opening of Westgate. But I'm hoping it will enable the smaller independent stores a chance at some prime Real Estate.
Y. V.
Have a best site in Oxford, but 89% locals are empty.
R. T.
Good range of shops inside this shopping centre. Feels a bit less busy now thanks to Westgate but still a great place to visit
R. W.
Good sized shopping centre in Oxford. It has all the major high street brands and some independent ones also. There is also a good choice of food options.
T. S.
It's a good mall, it has everything, such as clothes, a place to drink coffee, restrooms among others
B. 4.
Nice shopping centre with some nice stores such as Krispy Kreme.
The atmosphere is good, but overall, this shopping centre definitely isn't as great as Westgate.
P. M.
Many events, lots of space, even for your bike inside, if you don't want to leave outside.
J. M.
Oxford had to build bigger shopping mall, because it wanted to be more like Milton Keynes. So now the Clarendon Centre has empty shops and looks sad.
J. H.
Loads of shops it's clean safe place to go to
A. P.
Very small mall with many units now closed. Good to go through from westgate to Debenhams. But definitely not a destination in itself.
R. a.
A pleasant enough place as such places go.
S. R.
A good selection of shops and masks to be used so felt safe
A. C.
Such a shame this shopping centre is suffering from the West gate. It had so many nice shops and now most of them are not able to stay open because of the large competition.
E. T.
Always clean, me and my family enjoy the yogurt bar and it's open seating. Could use some background music.
M. K.
Small shopping centre next to the new and big West gate shopping centre. Nothing special, but includes a shop named "menkind", which is definitely worth a visit for all not fully grown up people ;)
D. P.
A great indoor shopping centre, lots of different stores and styles of clothing, well worth a look round.
t.
Looking tired now and a lot of shops are leaving for more glamorous locales. TK Maxx here though, and at least it's warmer than the Westgate ;)
J. G.
If you like shopping Mall shopping, it's a great example. I don't so for me it's a necessary evil. Bring back the high St experience
J. S.
Great staff which can't do enough for you.
M.
The decor is always really nice on the inside of the building and the Christmas decorations are great. Not a huge amount of shops but a varied selection.
K. S.
Great
G. W.
Nice selection of shops to explore, easy to navigate and not overly busy
M. D.
Average. Quality dwindling recently as stores move to a new development nearby. Though I do regularly pop into Robert Dyas next to the back entrance.
O. M.
Nice little place to visit, good for shopping as it's right in the city centre.
J. G.
Amazing place,so big with plenty to do and see
M. H. N.
Ya okay
A. C.
Less modern than the new Westgate but still a good mix of shops, especially with more new coming soon
k. w.
It's a small mall close to a much larger one.
Much like a discount mall.
It's fine but nothing special.
S. S.
Loads of choice, beautiful buildings, all your typical high street chains and many more besides. Brilliant for shopping.
S. E.
It looks ok, clean and tidy but at the end of the day it's just another shopping centre, be it quite small.
A. A.
It's small shopping mall but its good and I like to stay in Costa Cafe there
J. A.
It's a vibrant shopping centre
J.
Not somewhere I shop regularly but they do have some nice shops and the centre is always clean.
M. F.
Good selection of shops, clean and bright. Good cut through to avoid busy crowded streets.
A. H.
Oxford’s smaller shopping centre compared to the Westgate Centre but it’s well presented with a lovely range of High Street retailers.
A. a.
They replaced zara by TK maxx. Also, there is a bigger mall near by
A. Ș.
Easy place to shop. Not too big but enough to get what you need.
West Gate is HUGE for Oxford 😍😍
C.
Good shopping centre for major shops but needs a bit of a lift. Great proximity to the high street.
S.
Great shopping centre so much space and full of great shops
J. M.
Love that it has a great variety of shops and places to eat. From the very expensive to the most affordable ones. Marvellous!
C.
It's good but some shops that you would expect to be there aren't there
C. D.
Just a walk through shopping mall..but its ok
C. S.
Its ok, its a shopping centre. Clean and tidy. limited selection of shops. no toilets or public areas for sitting.
A. K.
In the heart of oxford, have good quality shopping stores including h&m, TK Max, Gap,
J. O.
Good place for shopping. If you like tkmaxx, gap and h&m. Better small shopping centre than Westgate.
S. S.
Very overshadowed by the mighty Westgate center but still a few good shops to go to and a lot more relaxed
S. B.
Seen better days but the shops in the centre are well looked after and invested in.
c. k. c.
Good.
P. C.
Mixed opening times, good mix of retail to hospitality. Nice staff in the stores
o. b.
Exeptional shopping center. Small and without toilets. Except for two shops, nothing interesting to me. Only shorter way for bad weather 😁
H. S.
Nice little shopping centre with TK Maxx, Claire's, Gap and more. It leads out near the new shopping centre.
P. N. C.
If you ever visit Oxford, in the UK and don't get to stop by at the Clarendon, then I will say you did not visit Oxford! Superb place
-. -. (.
Nice restaurants, ice rink!!!! Also ok shops. Amazing parking, always space there.
T. H.
Not many outlets these days almost a ghost towm6
W. F.
Having traveled extensively around U.K. Oxford comes up poor in its selection of shops, boutiques. I expected so much more in this area.
K. R.
Nice cool clean . A few nice shops. My favourite is MENKIND
A. S. T.
Pretty nice shopping Mall with nice ambience have lots of options for purchasing and
M. S.
Just had TK Maxx and the gap has turned into an outlet. Suffering from opening of Westgate but finding a niche.
D. D.
Empty not many shops now
M. T.
Can feel a little run down but good range of shops
J. K.
nice place, clean but don't have public toilets
T. S.
Love the shops and plenty of space , to walk around
J. S.
It's a shame this will be closing down... I've heard to be made into student accommodation.... Again..!!
L. D.
Nice and clean shopping mall with a small variety of shops. Such a shame that Westgate turned up on its doorstep!
D. C. A.
Beautiful place love it. .!!
P. E.
Small but well-maintained mall. Mostly high street fashion stores but one or two places to buy food.
A. A. J.
Decent selection of shops...Easy to navigate, nothing revolutionary but certainly good enough to survive the huge, expensive beast that is the new Westgate centre.
N. R.
This has a good variety of shops. But is open to the weather and cold on a windy day
C.
Good selection of shops in a present environment. The shops them selves are not particularly attractive and often not good value for money.
R. A.
Very nice place. Loads of shops and things you expect from a shopping centre
J. S.
Loved it, so much fun for shopping and for having a cup of coffee
M. H.
It's "OK", nothing more. Could do with some public restrooms, and some benches to sit on would be nice.
R. C. D. B.
You can find different type of shop in the ground floor, clothes, shoes, food, electrical shop, jewellery shop and more. On the others levels you can rent some offices, you can find school, spa therapy...
d.
Nice little shopping centre, quieter than the Westgate, roomier than the covered market
k. P.
Great place for cocktails...Nick makes them to perfection...lovely food well worth a visit.
R. M.
👍 👌
P. K.
Nice shopping place right beside St. Ebbe's street and Pembroke Street.
A. M.
Average small shopping center - more of a corridor! Small range of high classic street shops. No bathrooms.
J. V.
Very good today 😊
S. S.
A useful shopping mall in the middle of Oxford. A range of stores convenient to central of the city.
V. F.
Many shops closed down but the best H&M is Oxford is still there
g. j.
Good shops. Just don't leave a half decent bike outside it will stolen.
s. t.
It was a Sunday when I visited so not very busy
Nice group of shops to browse in
D. R.
Oxford is a lovely place for shopping & dining out including Westgate & Clarendon shopping arcades.
G. H.
It's not bad. More a covered Street than a shopping centre really.
A. M. (.
Only shopping center in the main of Oxford with the general stores also good to grab a coffee and some light lunches.
R. D.
Great experienece
R.
Great place for shopping for brands like zara , H& M , French connection , The perfume shop, Gap, The body shop etc

Windy city. It's so cold all the time, even on a warm sunny day. Some good shops though.

A shopping center that has seemed to removed most of the needed shops. Not too pleased with the variety of shops on offer at this shopping center.
C.
Nice clean shopping centre could do with some new shops
N. I.
So much better than before.
M. R.
The place has got many shops from zara to h&m. There's a computer markets as well.
J. J.
Great shopping experience for those that are new and living in Oxfordshire for the first time.
S. H.
Varied shops for yummy juices/yoghurt icecreams but also for fashion
C. M.
I like the Clarendon a lot more than Westgate.
The shops are great but most of all affordable.
M. K.
Rather a shopping passage than a shopping centre - quite small, actually is a covered part of the shopping area in central Oxford (Queen's, Cornmarket and High Street).
r. k.
Nice shortcut from cornmarket to queens street. Few decent shops ie thorntons, Krispy kreme
D. S.
Old style indoor market. Has some good food stores and independent shops.

Busy every single hour of a day :) But good for shopping.
