Reviews of Longton Exchange Shopping Centre
Needs a lot of investment. Shame about the empty shops, especially the old Woolworth building.
Some good shops here though. A decent butcher's. The thing about Longton is the wonderful people.
Close to a good market, B&M, Home Bargains, Wilko's and the Nat West Bank.
Parking including disabled parking close by. In recent years some shopping units have closed due to the nearby retail park but longton is still worth a look. Cafes available and various shops, a post office, clothing, Iceland, boots and a nearby b & m, wilko and home bargains. Needs a bit of life injecting and toilets.
This could be a lovely shopping place if the council would put more money into it.. its such a shame plenty of retail space just overheads force shops to close.. really sad the shops that are there are great lovely friendly people and easy access!
30 mins free parking every day, so great for a quick dash to card factory, B&M, home bargains or wilco, but you will need to pay if you can't trolly dash.
Good for what it is. Not many shops anymore and pretty run down.
Went to longton nails.
I always wait for Amy to do my nails as she is amazing. Any design I ask for she exicutes amazingly.
Longton is convenient to me. The exchange is much improved, just needs the people to shop thete again.
Typical small open shopping centre. Very neat, tidy and clean.
Its ok good home bargains Wilko & B&M but too many empty shop units in the actual precinct itself
Nice place to shop ample parking close to. Wheelchair friendly.Indoor Market close to open wed-fri-sat.
Was run down a bit but after an external refurbishment is looking good.
Like most shopping areas these days could do with more independent businesses.
Suppose it's the high costs involved.
However still better than our city centre town now which is gradually disappearing.
Well... I always get these suggestions to review places I've been... But it's kind of hard when it says it during my shift, especially as I'm a mobile response officer just walking around patrolling the place... Yeah it's kind of good.. at night.
Ping pong parlour is great way spend some time and it's free
A fair bit of money has been spent smartening this place up, and it helps, but there are a lot of empty units and I saw more obvious drunks and junkies wandering about than I was comfortable with. There is no signage and to find the nearest operational toilet I had to ask twice - the first time I was sent to a horrible block which is not in use but wasn't clearly marked as such; the second time I found the very nice new loos inside the new entrance to the market, but no signs direct you there. Needs more work, I think.
A lovely town but like most shopping centres now a lot of empty shops, however the shops the have are good and the staff warm and friendly
Not many shops left unfortunately, but those that are still there have very friendly, helpful staff
Variety of shops, ok for general food shopping cards etc, not for gift shopping but adequate.
Still a decent place to shop looks a lot nicer with the recent makeover
A good little city for shopping, there is a indoor market. Longton has a wider spread shops. But the city has alot of shopping & food stores, the only issue they are just a little walk from each other, Specially when you look at the distance for who wants to visit wilkos/b&m to currys/pets at home. But saying that, you will be passing many shops on the way by foot, having a adventure looking at different shops you might like to pay longton a visit. I would suggest a day when the market.
Enjoyed walking through the market and making some purchases of groceries from Iceland and personal body care products from Booth. Pretty clean and low human traffic probably the effect of the weather and covid-19 partial restriction
Great , even though a few shops are closed on a Tuesday it's still 100% better shops ,more choice , And grateful if your custom unlike The living dead in Hanley
Needs more of the units being in use, much lower rents to get units up and running again, I remember when all the units were open and it WAS fantastic, most of what people wanted in one place, brilliant for both able bodied and disabled people of which I am one. So many jobs would be created if these shops were opened again
It's still a Buzzin with shoppers town , esp Fridays and Saturdays, I worked in longton years ago and if you wanna see the real potteries , this is ya typical Town that is working class and good people .
This place is amazing for little kiddies, there's loads too do they've got lots of crafty stuff, including sand art, there's a small soft play area and kitchens and things for role play. There's a cafe for refreshments and the staff are lovely. Really hope this place does well in the current situation, a proper little gem in the middle of longton 😊
I love it here I'm often here with my 6ft x6ft piece of lino break dancing and eating fairy cakes and craming my pockets pull of chips and gravy
Needs to fill more of the empty shops
The whole of Longton, needs a complete overall.
Empty.shops.no.atmosphere the shops across by tesco have.ruined the.town, I do love the cafe though in the precinct thats alice in.wonderland themed
Love longton. Improvements are coming on well around the market. New toilets too.
There are no public toilets anymore
Just a shame that Longton is re-inventing itself to become a foremost shopping destination when the pandemic has put so much pressure on all businesses across the country. I feel confident it will recover once we have the necessary tools to keep the buying public safe when visiting.
Too many empty shops which is a real shame, all charity shops
I only used boots for prescriptions but even though the staff were nice they never seemed to get our prescriptions right.
If you wanted it delivered to your home address then there was also a charge.
My husband and I are vulnerable with the Covid-19 but had to go out and fetch it.
Best town in the Potteries for most shopping, bar none! Why, because it's mostly pedestrianised and most high street, shopping precinct shops, plus the big stores, i.e. Sports Direct, Matalan, Argos are within easy reach of each other. Happy shopping folks, and I'm no lover of shopping.
Longton was a ghost town during the pandemic many small shops closing down but it appears to be coming back to life now ..there's nothing you can't buy in the area and surrounding areas so definitely worth a visit
Nice to see the shops back open visited card factory today where I always get fixed up bought all my cards for next month also visited bonmarch lots of choice on t-shirts bought quite a few nice bit of retail therapy
Beautiful place to be , very clean
Clean but very quiet shopping centre in Longton. Contains Poundland, Boots, Iceland and a few other shops. But its just had a 1 million refit so it looks alot better now, shame Longton is so quite.
I love to shop here there is a good range of shops to choose from especially if you don't want to travel to Hanley or Newcastle and you want somewhere a bit more local
Good place to shop locally in longton
run down outdated it's like going back in time to 1990
Poundland, heron foods, boots, select, bon marche, post office with cash machine, Steve's butchers, newsagents, few charity shops, chip shop , bakery, tobbaconist, stationery, superdrug, baby clothes shop, fruit and veg shop recently opened, bag and shoe shop recently opened, Iceland. Also just across from precinct is wilko, home bargains and b and m. There is a market indoor Wednesday Friday and Saturday just down from the precinct and Barclays bank one side of the market and Nat West other side. So everything is very close for those who cannot do a lot of walking and when you need a rest a lovely seating area. Give it a try I always get everything I need and dont knock it until you try it.
Visited Butterflies craft and cafe. Lovely staff, friendly service and Covid-19 precautions taken. Yummy toastie and grandson devoured his beans on toast. 🙂
Very dull and not very tidy lot of shops empty .went in a tea shop and was welcomed with a smile nice to see in to day atmosphere
Lots of independent retailers. Let's get shopping local more keep them alive.
What shops t he at are in open are very good but there are to many empty,
Plenty of shops to browse although there are a few empty units too. Good selection of shops from boots,Iceland, heron foods, cash converters and poundland.
Not like what it used to be I only go here to go shop Select to buy my clothing, other than that all shops closed down. Which is a shame as it's part of our community, I just hope Select doesn't close down I would be gutted.
Can become busy somedays good cheap shops can get everything you need
It's a shame what's happening in longton a lot of shops vacant not much in the variety the local authorities need to spend some money on longton so it will attract new business at the moment money is been spent in hanley as the council see that Hanley is our town centre shame because other towns have got a lot of heritage Hanley is not the b all of stoke upon trent
Butchers and new cafe at the bottom by the steps. Very good and nice
Good shops but sadly alot of empty/ boarded premises.
This place is a hidden gem in that you'd actually not consider to do your shopping here if you have festival park a few miles away.
However, all things considered, the only reason you'd still go to festival park over here well be for the movies. Here's got just as many options as you'd get elsewhere including Poundland, Boots, Subway and a lot more. Across the street is Argos, Tesco, Matalan. You've got Barclays and NatWest local to the area also so in all you're well covered for shopping and other businesses you may wish to conduct around here.
Good to see people shopping locally.
Great shopping experience if your after a few essentials.
NEEDS MORE SHOPS. Run down shopping centre that they are trying to make look better. Something needs to be done about the lack of trade here. Maybe lower rent to encourage trade into the area or something I don know.
Great little shops to get most things from xxx
Managed to get everything I needed but it's a shame to see Bon Marche also closing perhaps it would be better to lower the rents to encourage more businesses this would at least create some money coming in rather than empty units raising nothing and encourage more people to visit
I go every week in Longton place I like pound land boots l heron bm and home bargains to and Wikos
Nice clean shopping centre Nice shops and lovely market x
Wish more shops were here
It's not what it once was sadly. More charity shops than normal shops now although there's nothing wrong in that. Bennett precinct is not how it was just 20 years ago. Very sad really.
It's getting better but there's still loads of shops empty which is a shame
As i always do tried to buy most of my Christmas gifts locally... got most of what i needed. A lot of the shops are empty or closing.
Very quiet, great bargains at charity shops. Places to eat. Please get a primark. I think it will bring more people.
A lot of good shops and disabled person friendly which is brilliant for my partner that struggles with steps
I would loved it but went in to the salvation army charity shop well that what i thought till i seen prices was cheaper to go into shop next door select buy new than was there prices are appalling at the charty shop i cant offord to shop at that charity shop how bads that
They have tried to renovate. Some parts of the centre look like a ghost town.
It's Ok👌
Some nice shops
Nice to see community support in all the local shops. Especially the wool shop.
A little run down. Friendly people.
There is nothing in Longton anymore like there used to be(very sad really)
Very busy and most people not wearing masks but still wanna barge past you
Everything was fine, nothing to complain about, kept clean and well organised.I enjoyed being out in the fresh air
Excellent place for doing shopping everyone very well maintained. Security are always welcoming
Not many shops these days but fantastic people running the shops that are there
It was ok but not much shops was open due to covid 19
Used to come here when I was a kid with my mum it was a great place to shop now it's doom and gloom
Like ghost town, hardly any shops such a shame, need to reduce rent prices, stupid the people who own them obviously prefer empty shops and having no rental income rather then reducing rental prices and filling the shops
Requires more shops polka travel has a shop there now the girls in their are brilliant and very helpful give them a try you will not regret it.
Just enough variety to satisfy the average all round shopper. Covid aware throughout.
There are so many empty shops and undesirable people about I would not go there unless I had to
Empty shops.
Good cuppa tea in the Market!👍
Nice sunny browse.
Fairly quiet for a Friday.
To make empty units
Sadly dying out, lot of empty shops but still good place.
Great for all your needs lots of shops
I was born and bred in longton so have seen a demise in the shops. Most are empty
Went for gift tags and wrapping paper. Quite a busy place, well priced
Some interesting little shops.. Great butchers
It was very empty today as most of the shops are closed due to lockdown .
Alot of shops i live near by so ideal
I remember when it opened 1964 it was a nice place to do your shopping
Not much there apart from old people and drunks
Only a few shops but all good shops
Lovely place not there are security around. Free table tennis in longton exchange.
Not a bad place,
Not very nice walking on her own you feel quite vulnerable
I like Longton Exchange its nice when its busy, there's some good shops.
Needs more shops, and cleaning up more often
Good but there is sometimes a crackhead outside asking for money and bedding on floor
Got enough shops to get by. Doesn't let me down if I need something quick
Half an hour free parking here just press the green button,
Such a shame to see the closed individual shops ,
Very good all the shop are in one place and you can park in one place
Very quiet place to shop at this moment in time
Great place to visit, very inspirational for creating a new look for your house.
Needs more shops. Other than that it's alot better since they did it up
Done it up a bit so it looks a bit better same old charity shops and shops closing down
Nothing else to say it you don't want post my last comment
Excellent service and great wheelchair access to the main shopping area
I still call it the Bennett centre, good variety of shops, ease of shopping and good prices
Good value for money, lots of variety. A+++
The parking meters are always not in use. There's always one that's working, but no signage to say which one.
Everything you need in one place Excellent
It's longton dull and dreary nothing more to say...
Need more shops
Nice pedestrian area and security in place.
Found out that there's a new veggie shop open up not bad on prices either
Its ok in the day time but at the evening or night. It like the walking dead .
Clean tidy but needs more big retailers
Good fish shop for malawi fish and all type of fish 5-star rating
Ok
All the shops took social distancing seriously and had hand gel
Great 👍
Plenty to see and buy. Super charity shops. Sad that so many units are empty
Always fair, lots of options and friendly helpful staff
Needs a few more shops to make it vibrant again
Limited mostly charity shops. Needs updating and retailers coming into the area.
Busy nice shops lots choice
Love it
Very run down place needs a bit of investment to bring it to life.
A lovely shop around with good community feel.
Good selection of shops with free Sunday parking
Needs pulling down. Thank God for Dave The Potato man it's the only reason to go there!
Does need some improvement work and more shops.
A little run down with too many empty stores and falling day by day.
Just booked holiday with newly opened polka dot travel...
Good shopping lots of variety
Go there every week a good variety of shops
Local for me, reasonable amount of shops for this day and age,
Love this shop lovely service & lovely people.
It's a cracking place for a cheeky bit of charity shop shopping
Great place plenty of different shops to shop in
Went down bank years ago and dont think it will ever be alive again
Looms better now that they have been painting it.
Small lil place not bad prices
Looking much better after its recent facelift.
Really good. Lots of friendly people
Good variation of shops
