The staff are super knowledgeable and really helpful. The store is every kid's dream, it's an emporium of models, and it seems to have everything from fully built kits, build it yourself sets, to all the model diy parts you can think of. A proper model specialists. So happy I went there. Came away with my first RC car and now building it at home together with my 12 year old son.

What a fantastic shop, went to enquire about buying a couple of cars for myself and my 11 son who has fine motor skill problems due to a heart defect. Spoke with a very knowledgeable gentleman who pointed us in the right direction. He wasn't pushy at all, asked what our maximum budget was so not to recommend something too high a price. We came away with 4 cars between us(my wife isn't happy, nothing a bottle of wine and flowers can't fix) We bought some extra battery's and a fast charger too. They have a brilliant range of cars from beginners to expert and fairly priced too. It was also nice to support a local business to rather than buying blind online. Shop is well laid out with loads of spares, model kits, radio controlled aircraft too. Plus your plastic airfix model kits. Socially distancing is in place and the staff are very respectful of that too. I will definitely use this shop again for spares and so on. Thinking of doing a build your own kit car so know where to go now. These shops are few and far between. Well worth a visit. We came from Brighton. Thank you for a smooth transition.

I bought a couple of FTX cars last year and was very happy with the service I got in-store, and the price was fair. A few months later I ordered a selection of leads to go with my charger, one of which I ordered wrong. I emailed a picture of what I wanted, but it wasn't readily available, so Justin made one up from spare parts and it arrived the following day. Amazing service, and very very impressed he went to so much trouble to help me out. 👏👏

It's a model shop in the truest sense. Loads of models and accessories. The displays are in brand order rather than item, so you can often find the same accessories by different brands at different prices for essentially the same item. Balsa rack a bit of a state. Staff ok, but there are friendlier at different model shops. A useful place, but better organised around.

I've been shopping there for the last 10yrs. Mostly had good customer service. But recently their workmanship has been pretty poor. I take things in there for them to repair, take it home, and 5min later the same problem. And this has been 2/3 times now. Come on guys, you haven't always been like this. Fix the problem.

Awesome. One of those should-have-known-about-it-sooner places. If you're into planes trains and automobiles (and I don't mean the film) you have to visit. Its like the Internet but with more stuff and better prices. Thanks to the guy who gave me the right parts for my nitro car, with no other info than a pic from ebay :). Just taken up the model making hobby and having passed this store many times I finally had a reason to go in. Lots of stock and a good lay out. Unfortunately the customer service was poor. 5 members of staff. No greet. And only one person looked up after a few minutes to help me. Then began browsing again and went to the counter. Not one person looked up and had to wait to be served, the shop was empty there was just me. Very disappointed as this shop was going to be my go to place. Spent £20 and am very happy with my purchases at reasonable prices. But bad customer service has ruined my experience. No music playing in the shop so atmosphere was horrible.

This was my first visit and my first impression was of a very well stocked shop and a friendly welcome. I'm an 0 gauge railway modeller so although there was not a hint anything railway related there's loads of bits and pieces that will be useful to me. Paints, sheet metal and brass rod etc, lots of scenic stuff. This now my nearest model shop (44 miles away) so I suspect I'll be returning in the no too distant future. All in all.....A great shop!

This model shop is fantastic, very fair prices the staff are helpful and always willing to make suggestions. I cannot understand some of the other reviews on here. I spoke to a chap named Romeo in the shop he was very helpful and sorted out my problem and supplied me with all the parts I needed with no problem. My local model shop and visiting there for more than 15 years. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly. I always visit to the shop, rather than using online so you can see what are in stock and you can actually see the product better. Plenty of good second hand RC model aircraft hanging from the ceiling, quite often special or well built plane.

Absolutely phenomenal dispatch speed! Placed an order for 3mm piano wire that will make up the landing gear of the Mantis Autogyro that I'm currently building. I placed the order at quite a late hour in the evening, with the anticipation of it arriving a couple of days later at the earliest, and was then pleasantly surprised to see it land on my doorstep just after midday the following day. With us all presently stuck indoors under lockdown, and with build projects being one of the best ways to keep ourselves afloat in the model flying hobby, this kind of service is greatly appreciated! :D

I have been using SMC for many years going back to their previous location and recommend them to all my friends. The amount of stock they carry for a normal shop is impressive and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Yes on a few instances some of the staff has been less than helpful, possibly been very busy or maybe just having a bad day, no different than anyone else they are only human after all. One of the best things is that if there is something you need or want you can go and collect it the same day, which sometimes can make all the difference.

Well worth visiting! This is a great model shop that seems to have everything you might need. I make plastic kits and there were plenty to choose from whether you make cars, bikes, ships, tanks or planes. I found what I wanted and will be back for more kits! Lots of paints including Tamiya spray cans. Tools, glues, etc; they have it covered! If you're into radio control there was so much here including lots of materials for those that like to build from scratch. And the staff... they were friendly and very helpful. Great shop!

I have used SMC for a couple of years now, and I've always found them to be friendly and helpful. The shop carries a large selection on stock, and if they don't have what I want, they will get it for me. True, they are not as cheap as certain outlets on the internet, but you have the security of buying from a local shop that you can take items back to if you are not satisfied. I totally disagree with the negative reviews on here, they must be talking about a different shop ! When I started with RC flying a couple of years ago, one guy in the shop spent ages answering all my questions about electric motors etc. as I knew absolutely nothing about them.

The guy's at SMC are full of knowledge and always helpful which is something you won't get if you buy online...been using these fellas since the 80's when they were in teville gate. I used to get all my Mardave mini parts here for the mini stock carpet racing club I used to do as a kid....them's were the day...just gotta get my daughter into R/C now so I can use her as an excuse to spend lots of money....lol It's run by the son of the gent who used to run it I believe so its also nice to support a local family business, either way they are clearly passionate about what they do. Online order. I ordered two aircraft, late Monday afternoon, and received them Tuesday afternoon. Couldn't ask for better service than that. I had researched these models online and found a few dealers offering the same models at round about the same price, but they did't have them in stock. The lead time could be up to five weeks. Then I came across SMC and as I have stated above, I received an excellent service.I would have no bother recommending this dealer. Their level of stock for any RC equipment must be very large. Haven't written such a negative review previously I feel I must be fair to SMC and update my review. I don't make a point of going in there (for obvious reasons), but I have been in a couple of times recently and had a much more productive experience. My most recent visit was last thing on a Friday afternoon and they very helpfully soldered up a difficult cable for me with no notice whatsoever. I don't whether I got the wrong people or they were exceptionally busy, but I have to be reasonable and say that all of the people I've dealt with on the last couple of visits have been decent. The chap that helped me out with the soldering was actively interested in my project and that was nice to experience. So as I say, I don't know if something's changed, they were understaffed or whatever but my experiences have improved.

I have been dealing with SMC for many years now and I have always found them helpful and if an item is not up to my standard they will refund or replace it asap. They do not make the stock but the will and do stand-by everything they sell you. I have also ordered items from them and they will get them for you without asking for a deposit. They just give you a ring to let you know it has arrived. Not everybody, in general, is good at telephone sales but after a quick chat with the lads I have always got good service. I ordered a Dynamite Prophet Sport Quad 4x50W battery charger on Wednesday 6 July. It arrived on time, Friday 8 July, as described and suitably packaged. I took the opportunity to use the charger on Sunday 10 July, but was encountering difficulty in overcoming a persistent error code. I emailed SMC on Sunday evening asking for advice. SMC replied to my email on Sunday evening giving me advice on what to do. I telephoned SMC this morning, Monday 11 July, to find myself speaking to Romeo a very helpful and knowledgeable sales assistant. With his patience, knowledge and help I was able to establish why I was encountering the persistent error message, and how I could resolve it. Rather than indulge in exchanging emails, Romeo obtained a charger exactly the same as the one I purchased, and using it, emulated the exact steps I was carrying out on my charger to ascertain how I was encountering the persistent "Connection Break" error message. Very quickly Romeo pinpointed the cause of this error message, and offered me the solution to resolving my problem. I thought that I would have to go to the trouble of repackaging the charger and send it back to SMC describing it as faulty. What a pleasant surprise to find that course of action wasn't necessary, and it was all down to the help, patience and experience of Romeo in identifying the problem and providing me with the specific solution required to allow me to obviate the persistent error message. I have used this model shop on two previous occasions in the past 4 months to purchase RC equipment, and on both occasions the staff provided me with excellent pre-purchase advice and the concluding sales transaction was conducted smoothly, culminating in my purchases arriving on time, well packaged and as described. For future RC equipment purchases, I would have no hesitation in contacting SMC first to satisfy my needs, and also recommending them for their competitive prices, helpful and knowledgeable sales staff.

Gotta agree with the bad comments on here bad service and exaggerated prices some double Internet prices I was sold an item for £60 same item on eBay for £30 thought buying from a shop you'd have good come back and service but no don't be fooled .Shame , the shop has a niche market but I think they no that my advice try an online retailer I will for my next buy.Hope this helps.
