Reviews of Coppergate Shopping Centre
M. F.
As you would expect from York City,. Full of peeps, it was okay,. Will not be planning to return, expensive attraction lots of pre booking or queuing!!!
A. D.
Good museum. Giving history all the way up to the 1960's.
Cafe was a let down. Not enough seating and the cakes were inedible being rock hard.
All in all an enjoyable experience
A. G.
If you don't know what to buy this is the shop for you, tottaly affordable.
From Primark to Ferwick, clarks and to mention to incredible Jorvik centre. A wonderful, accessible and affordable shopping experience.
Various car park near Primark and few other private ones near Spark
Y. T.
Beautiful like the rest of York city centre. But disappointed they charge to use toilets. I would expect a shopping centre to have free toilets for customers.
B. P. (.
Went to Viking Center, although I've been before (shortly after it first opened) it's was certainly worth going again totally changed (mostly for the better). Would recommend a visit great for the family. Copper gate shopping hadn't changed much but still very popular (very busy) found York had changed, allot more eateries etc trying to find a public toilet was a nightmare and price of parking !!! don't recommend using Copper gate multi storey if you're spending day in York.
J. P.
A really historic place with quaint shops and lots of atmosphere
P. R.
Really great place, lots to choose from and absolutely fantastic shops.
People cannot walk for the life of them in a straight line and do like to stop dead right in front of you but other than that its a great place to go!
B. S.
First time around York with the wife and its a lovely city to walk about. Its bustling but not too busy. Love the buildings and the history plenty to enjoy and do. Went to some nice places for dinner the smaller cosy cafes are some of the best. Three tuns is a lovely building and we enjoyed a few drinks there the food looked amazing but we didn't eat. We also enjoyed The Sandwitches where we had an amazing sarnie I just wish we could have ate more. We will be back next time we visit to do some of the things we didnt get chance to. I presume will be in a couple months nearer Christmas.

It's good to see new shops bringing vitality back into the area, although the over abundance of truckside eateries in the courtyard is beginning to ruin the place. One or two eateries/truckside cafes, is enough. The space isn't big enough to accommodate the number they have in there now. The courtyard would originally have been designed as a restful meeting place connecting the shops. Now it's smelly, overcrowded and the ground is filthy.
d. m.
Awful in every way- food was served cold, chips and mash.
My sweet potato lasagne taste good but the crisp leaf on the top cut into my tonsils
Staff were helpful and attentive to try to resolve this- thanks to Emiliy x
P. B.
York is a beautiful old town . Coppergate blends the new with the old without detracting from either. The new stores add to the shopping experience in a way that would be impossible in the little old buildings. The join is seemless.
M. N.
Great for all the family, plenty to see and do, could easily spend a good couple of hours here. Def worth a visit whilst in York.
J. C.
There a lots of different shops within the city centre and lots of variety for restaurants to find somewhere to eat. The paths are also wheelchair friendly which is great for many others
M. K.
Nice shopping centre which also as the Jorvik viking village down there which is something else not what I expected and wceed expectations a mini golf pub down there for some fun primark and lots of food stalls within the forecourt
J. M.
Loved it here. So much to see. I overheard one woman say as she was looking at the buildings. Mmm I don't know. Were the builders having a bad day. Lol. Made me chuckle. Well worth a visit.
w. r.
Liked all of York. Most shops occupied. Very good restaurants and pubs.
P.
Took grandkids to wizard golf here & really enjoyed it but felt a little rushed as both kids are under 10 with lots to explore and so we were holding next group up.
C. M.
Beautiful Shopping centre lots to do plus a lovely market .
Lots of lovely places to eat and drink.
Highly recommended it
M. L.
We just parked in the centre to go for a meal at Byron, lovely area and at night with historic buildings and church all lit up. There was a ghost tour on in the square with a lady dressed in victoriana clothes giving history, great atmosphere.
S. A.
Amazing area for shopping.
M. D.
Great day out. Went Jorvik (booked in advance) then shopping. Plenty of different shops, I loved the Christmas shop! In April!! Lots of quirky shops in Shambles, and lots of different food on offer. It was very busy with a few shops with ridiculous queues, specially the little ghost shop. Every time we passed the queue was huge, even when it rained! We did a park and ride from designer outlet, £3 odd return and a bus every 12 minutes so took the hassle out of parking and paying a fortune too!
T. S. B.
A great place to stroll with the added challenge of find the CATS OF YORK.
N. B.
A very relaxed shopping experience. If you find the right item it's great. I often go and either find nothing or empty my account. No happy medium.
A. T.
Perfect place to visit
S. J. (. T.
Lots of shops , lots to do .
M. L.
Good place to visit good shops and things to see clean fast food/coffee vans outside few bits to sit down restaurants near by and crazy golf
S. R.
Brilliant little shop with a fantastic team. It's easy to get lost in this shop with all the amazing products and displays.
A. S.
First visit absolutely brilliant was nervous as we didn't know what to expect but the setting was spacious and clean the staff friendly and welcoming will definitely go again and can highly recommend
N. D.
Good but could be better if it had less properties, i.e. shops not closed down and derelict.
A. S.
Fantastic market and some nice quarky shops.
Only thing I'd say is a bad thing is the cost of parking,. I think York council are exploiting car drivers.
I've not knocked a star of for shopping as that's irrelevant,. Just want to make people aware.
If I remember it was something like £17 for 4-5 hours
L. B.
The best Christmas shop I ever ever seen there is 5 more rooms upstairs amazing stuff in this shop
K. S.
The Coppergate center is in the great city of York, it has a big carpark, ideally situated to visit all the best York has to offer.
S. H.
A great choice of shops and places to eat/ drink and the not to be missed Viking centre which always has a large queue waiting to get in !
So get there early if you are planning a visit !
S. B.
Great experience to walk around and see historic buildings.
i. t.
It's York's and youk is great . Only bad thing is the parking rate cost us £16.00 to park.
W. Q.
Niftt little center. Yorks a maze though and it was very hard to find as a tourist there for the first time. However the history you see when walking the streets is amazing. Guy falkes parents house. Whipmawhopmagate which translates to small street i think. York dungeons. All the monuments museums and attractions. Also regular sight seeing buses. And the york wall walk. Also william the conqeurers fort. However you have to pay tl be admitted to most placed which isnt in keeping with the museum tradition of voluntary donations but i suppose they have to capitalise on the tourism.
N. T.
Sat in the sun talking, picnic tables to sit at without having to buy anything. Plenty of shops, 2 food stalls which looked really nice. Clean place.
m. k. m.
Some lovely shops and some really nice food places too xx
L. S.
It's such a beautiful area with a vast array of shops, even if you don't buy anything it's worth walking around!
A. W.
There's some good food trucks here. The pizza truck has some delicious vegan pizzas 🍕
S. M.

C. J.
Really nice layout and interesting shops, stalls etc. Nice to just walk about and wonder around aimlessly
C. S.
Had a nice time with my two smaller girls. They were enchanted by the ride. My life goal of seeing the fossilized poo has been realized as well. Thank you.
G. W.
Some great bargins to be had .We did plenty of shopping and was not disappointed.
G. G.

Very good place for high St, high class shopping at affordable prices.
G. G.
Nice spot in Hastings! Definitely a life saver connecting the new and old town.
S. W.
Lots of different choice of shops. Love to see the umbrella walk (rainbows at the moment).
P. j. S.
Bustling area of food outlets & shops including Primark and The Yorvik Viking Center which is a great place to visit
K. G.
Nice wee shopping centre. Jorvik museum is a good place to visit.
C. D.
Has the best choice out of all the vintage shops I visited in York
L. H.
Absolutely brilliant place to go especially if you're disabled with a blue badge they allow free all day parking & have 16 designated parking spaces but if these are taking you can still park in an ordinary bay but you scan your disability badge at machine to get the free parking the warden was very helpful & on hand as we wasn't sure how to use the machine. You have the large Fenwick store you walk into from the car parks lift & was an excellent place to start shopping, well worth a visit & will definitely be going back
J. S.
Nice area. Hope the empty shop soon gets taken. Yorvik centre very popular.
l. n.
York is a good shopping centre but did notice some empty shops. Park and ride is excellent. York is always a good day out when the weather is better.
J. J.
Had to visit Fenwicks when we found out they had one in York. Great department store which has a super Christmas selection of cards and decorations. We had cappuccino at Carluccios. Castle Fine Art is next door where we spent quite a while talking to Stuart who was very helpful in selecting some art for a future purchase.

**update 2022-September-04**
The center constantly has things for people to do. Always enjoy coming here, think this was our 4th time.
Lots of shops and lots of people.
B. R.
Went for day trip to see Christmas market. All good busy but to be expected.all shops keen to help but aware more people weren't wearing masks or trying to socially distance. I know that would be difficult because of the type of venue we were visiting.
C.
Shambles, well worth a visit. Quirky shops, great market.
J. K.
It's okay. Little eating places and coffee together with a small range of department stores. Also includes Yorvic centre.
G. R.
BFair few boarded up shops and the square smelled of bins. Pity really as the thibgs that are there and still open are good,
J. B.
Nice shops but with crowds and in a wheelchair it's not easy as people don't see a wheelchair or chose to ignore?? Either way it's hard, then you get one person yes there's always one who gives you a look as much to say you shouldn't be out, gets in your way so you can't manage to do your shopping unless you run them over, not easy being disabled
M. L.
Loved it so much to see and staff very helpful great place to visit 😀
N. C.
We went along to the Jorvic Museum. Fascinating. Well worth a visit.
G. F.
It's a fab place to visit and shop, loads of shops, cafes, retail shops, eateries in the shambles market place offering a wide selection of foods

Loved this shopping centre.Great variety of shops.Seating areas to rest your legs. Really unique and quirky. Various retro vehicles selling everything from coffee to pizza slices next to the jorvid experience and short walk to the shambles .Loved the upside down umbrellas lined up across the street.Chilled vibe, kept very clean watching the world go by with a coffee.

e. f.
Lovely n clean relaxed atmosphere
M. B.
Average shopping centre. They are what they are. Outside seating with drinks available. Nice art gallery shop. Handy if you want to grab a drink or something to eat before you visit Yorvik Centre. Nice whiskey shop too.
M. P.
Thouroughly enjoyed the afternoons shopping, in general the staff were friendly and informed. The shops however tended to be samey with no real variety. The rest of York makes up for this slight lack of variety.
R. T.
Great pub great staff call in for a lovely experience and enjoy a relaxing dring
J. R.
It's a load of shops with some good stalls in the middle. Chargeable toilets.
A. B.
Lovely shopping area, plenty of quirky shops and eateries.
V. W.
Love shopping here every shop you can think of
P. G.
Lovely little shops - gets crowded at key times
M. W.
Visiting any shopping centre is a bit of an adventure these days, but I felt that the open air and many exits made visiting the Coppergate Centre very easy.
I used a number of shops, and all were fully Covid-19 compliant.
The concessions in the central 'forum' area were all vibrantly busy and giving off a truly vast range of aromas.
All in all a very good time in a welcoming, fast paced atmosphere.
I. S.
Amazing! city full of attractions
L. M.
Lovely part of town you’ll find Jorvik museum here too!
J. G.
A lunchtime visit for the Greek wraps, easy on the go food at a reasonable price too, find the little van, next to the Jorvik centre!
Seating and toilets (40 pence) lots of shops and easy access to the main city centre, parking next to the Castle, Crown Court and the Great York museum.
What's not to love!
A. B.
Nice pub good food
D. T.
Great place to visit lots of shops
A. W.
This was part of our holiday. Lovely to visit.
N. L.
Always buzzing. Great food, shops and of course the Viking centre.
a. f.
Great shopping area. It is located in the center of the city. So it a one for all place. There are many other shopping spots nearby so best place for shopping. You can buy everything here from household to dresses and beauty. The entranceway is wheelchair accessible. This shopping center deserves 4/5 stars..
K. J.
We visited York today to soak up the festive atmosphere and went into the Coppergate shopping centre while there. It was very busy but worth a visit as the shops there are lovely.
H. E.
Nice looking , but nothing special
E. W.
Cooperate is a flurry of different shop and at Christmas 🎄 ⏲ it has a beautiful larger Christmas tree 🎄 right in the middle, as you walk down there is an abundance of lights and decorations. It's beautiful.
C. B.
Plenty of various types of shops, time just runs away. I recommend.
A. P.
Had a fun time and hoping to visit again
M.
York Museum. Had a great time there with the children thoroughly lived it.
t. t.
Nice enough, with food court upstairs
C. M.
We enjoy York. Each place is good.
J. B.
Must see, lots of different things to check out. I only seen half of it.
C. S.
A bit hilly for a wheelchair user in part but nevertheless some good shops are there. and something I did not know is that the yorvik Viking centre is now wheelchair accessible. Happy days!
S. B.
A nice mix of shops and places to get a drink and something to eat. It was always magical at Christmas. The food stalls are never disappointing. The toilets aren't the best and if you have a double pushchair you can't get into them.
J. C.
Nice atmosphere, not as crowded as Parliament Square and the Christmas Market and managed to get food from one if the street food stalls here no problem.
M. B.
Absolutely love York and the Coppergate shopping centre is great. Loads of quirky little streets with local shops and produce but also all the big retailers in the main stretch. Love it here 👍👍👍
V. L.
Nice place, perfect for Harry Potter fans.
P. L.
Fantastic place to have a bit of fun. Harry loved it. Look at his scores. Felt safe and premises clean and tidy.
Over all, a great night out.
d. r.

Excellent way to travel into York. Used our London bus passes to obtain concessionary fare. Other passengers were very helpful with advice about sightseeing in York. Thank you York.
j. s.
Love exploring theis shopping centre.
j. r.
Great for shopping and looks great
D. H.
York is a magical place, full of mysteries that the traveller will be able to spend a lot of time unravelling as they travel through the thoroughfare of curiosity shops as well as the quality range of food and drink establishments. The Copper gate shopping centre is no less of an exception to all of these qualities, meaning that you will enjoy your time whiling away your time browsing around the multitude of shops available.
P. E.
We'd forgotten how great shopping in York is. Lovely streets, very little traffic, good parking, and so many different shops, high Street big boys down to independents and local markets. Great choice for everyone. This is how all city centres should be!
F. G.
A fantastic place to visit with family
B. D.
A variety of lovely shops to browse in.
S. B.
We visited the whole in wand and it was a magical and very affordable place to visit. If you love Harry Potter you must go!
D. H.
When in York we like to browse around the multitude of shops and markets that abound in York, and The Coppergate shopping centre is no exception to this.
D.
Lots of small and main stream shops here. if you worry about the pandemic then this is a nightmare place to visit, far too many people absolute no social distancing.
It's much better in most pubs/cafes and restaurants but TBF York is a very busy tourist city and there are many visitors currently.
K. C.
Unfortunately I visited my daughter on the wettest day in a while she attends uni there, we were going to go for a meal but absolutely everywhere was packed out unless we wanted to sit outside in the rain 🌧️? I personally think York is over priced and takes advantage of visitors with its prices I live in Beverley which is just as steeped in history has market streets a flemingate and many shops and dozens of places to eat so yes I don't care for York much
C. R.
The home of the Yorvik Centre , Fenwick's Store with Carluccio's Restaurant, Patisserie Valerie, Primark, Clark's Shoes, Boots Chemists,Topshop ,The Bagel Shop Clinkards Shoes,The Body Shop & others
M. H.
Nice place and decorating but very busy no one way system but some great shops it's a shame people are forgetting about covid and are not making any effort to keep others safe
C. W.
A lovely walk round. Ice sculptures on at the time were fantastic!
C. B.
Well if you have not ever been to York you are missing a great place from shops gardens the beautiful abbey and grounds outside markets out side food stalls and plenty of selection of cafes restaurants coffee bars love it
R. B.
Interesting mix of shops.
A. B.
Clean, well decorated for Christmas, lots of places to eat, good range of shops & close to all other York delights
D. R.
Main area lots of shops bars cafes etc
B. H.
Excellent shopping centre plenty to see lot's of fast food
A. H.
Amazing sat outside here
G. D.
Loads of great shops😁😁
B. H.
I am giving 5 stars to the Cattle Shack which is in the Coppergate Centre. The food is excellent and the staff are very very friendly. I thoroughly recommend their bacon and /or sausage sandwiches. They are lovely and everything is there for you to see as it cooks. We'll done.
J. R.
Great atmosphere. Browse to your hearts content!
T. (.
Love this place, lots of nice Little shops selling random things. The park and ride in York is also fantastic
D. b.
The shopping centre is a nice place, there is shelter from the rain if it turns up, their are lots of shops and plenty to do while you are hear, definitely worth a visit while In york
R. P.
The Jorvik Centre was pretty interesting as some of it is via a kind of ride which hangs from a monorail arrangement. The language set to what you require and you get a running commentary during the history trip. Plus lots of exhibits in cabinets for you to peruse and wonder at. Learned a lot.
P. T.
Shopping is not really my forte because I've suffered many almost horrific experiences being led around many ladies clothes shops time after time, hour after hour by my good lady wife. But having said that one very sunny evening as my wife was having a soak in the bath in our over priced posh hotel along with a bucket full of bath bombs I thought that I would have a wonder around the local streets. I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone was lovely and friendly and I had the chance to plan our route for the evening to pop in the best pubs.
J.
Great selection of shops here and very easily accessible through town.
Looks amazing at Christmas.
D. H.
Excellent place with friendly staff
M. M.
Fabulous area to browse.
W. B.
Has loads of shops down coppergate. Nice open area at the bottom. Loads of seating and some food carts. ( closed when I was there)
J. W.
A shopping street with a distinct character where there is usually activity. The summer umbrellas are lovely
P. R.
Went to visit the Christmas Market, good variety of stalls. Food stall were excellent, would highley recommend
P. M. C.
Very good place to visit
A. P.
We only spent 2 full days in York but loved the sense of history and amount of historical places to visit here. Very interesting shops that are unique and not part of a national chain. Go and explore . You will not be disappointed!
P. J.
Bustling, plenty to find to eat and drink, and a good place to park and use as a starting point for looking around the centre of York. Car park is good but a little tight and a bit pricey.
O. A.
Victor J,S on Finkel street is a cocktail Bar
But as the menu ot die for4 types of loaded
Fries to share roast beef wraps .And more
Very friendly staff and service, +Friendlynes
R. W.
Went their for the Christmas market the place was vibrant and had a nice atmosphere with some lovely Christmas decorations.
t. b.
Very good and the Christmas market is very good and the largest I have ever seen
V. G.
It was a nice area to walk around and decorated with umbrellas suspended in above. Was useful short cut between the shambles and our hotel (, the hilton)
A. P.
Good for Primark and the Jorvic centre. Good disabled access. No public toilets though.
E. L.
Small selection of good shops as well as outdoor stalls selling high quality pizzas, burgers etc. Also the home of the Yorvik museum. It has its own multi-storey car park which is the most central of all York's parking spaces. Expensive, but good if you need to not walk too far.
C. A.
Great location in York to to park and see the yorvic centre, plus the food around there is great and scenery, great whisky shop aswell if you like to get some gifts
E. A.
There is a butchers in the market (only one) we got great bacon and steaks ECT so much we got a shipping order to take home a Big thumbs Up
M. M. S.
Excellent day out for all 5*
K. S.
A lovely one bedroom flat that was very clean and tidy and a short walk into the city.
Just what we needed and we've been very pleased with what we got.
A. S.
Lots of different shops. But was very busy and people were quening to get into most shops.Hence, couldn't get to see alot.
j.
York was fully embracing Christmas when I visited - the christmas market was there. It was fantastic. So many brilliant stalls with foodie gifts, craft gifts, boozy gifts - you name it they had it! Great atmosphere and packed with people so allow plenty of time to wander. Do not miss the Swedish meatball stand - best thing I've eaten all year! The other "proper" shops were possibly less crowded as a result, but that's a bonus too!
C. “. G. M. C.
A good collection of shops and museums.
D. F.
Couldn't say enough about the place ,we definitely will be back 😀 such a great place to shop and a beautiful city ❤ 😀 loved it
S. Q.
Lovely area for a walk down to the Viking centre. Few shops and bathroom facilities close by, fee required. Clean and bright
J. C.
The tea and cake were very nice but the service was very slow. We had to ask if the delivery of our order was going to be much longer. We sat waiting for our order to be taken for over 5 minutes whilst the waitresses stood at the counter chatting and then for further 5-8 minutes after for our tea and cake to arrive, that was after my wife had asked how much longer it would be. Several girls seemed to be taking orders but only one girl was delivering them, whilst the others stood chatting.
G. T.
Great ships and very atmospheric.
N. W.
Interesting York.
Lots of independent business
S. R.
Best shopping center something for everyone
D. J. V.
Really cool place. Some nice quirky shops and heaps of stalls and street food options from burrito, Italia, burgers, Asian the lot.
B. S.
Great little seating area in the middle of cooperate. Lovely on a warm day. And a great rest after a Primark spree. I'm the summer they often have a makeshift beach which my kids love and at Xmas it's a beautiful Christmas display.
m. a.
Very nice place, it’s worth a look
J. S.
Pleasant shopping area. A selection of nice shops and a pleasant courtyard with food and drink on offer. Quite often of a really high standard. Great for a break from exploring on a sunny day.
P. B.
It's just a few shops.
S. E.

Enjoyed my visit after waiting 40yrs to visit. The visual ride through the streets was excellent. Just expected the place to be bigger!
E. M.
Quaint lots to see on offer
C. J.
Looked good but only visited to get to the Jorvik viking centre so didn't spend any time there
S. K.
Bit dated . But ok
E. W.
Plenty of choice. Some old world shops great experience, fantastic choice of restaurants, great market. and weather was great which makes all the difference.
T. S.
ok place to play tourist
C. P.
Loads of great shops and market stalls selling a range of products. Well worth a visit.
A. E.
Very nice place, as York is as a whole. One of my favourite places to visit.
Not sure I would class this as a shopping centre however.
Lots of other historical places to visit. Tower as in picture, and the great York castle museum.
Loads to see.
Including but not limited to the Yorvik museum nearby.
J. H.
A very pleasant experience considering I drove 4 1/2 hours to get there my wallet is a hell of a lot lighter 😁
J. B.
A brilliant shopping area within York with amazing attractions such as the yorvik centre and the Harry potter miniature golf activity which are in this area.
i. s.
Love york nice place to look around especially at Christmas with the msrjet
N. L. M.
Lovely oldy worldy shops in a cobbled lane as used in the Harry Potter films.
B. 6.
Nice place.
Does get busy during peak tourist times.
Worth a visit.
L. E.
The market is great! Usual shops in the shopping centre. Clean.
N. T. (.
Great shopping center, you've got yourself a Primark, a mini golf centre and 3 attractions + many more.
K.
Pleasant, bustling atmosphere. We visited the Jorvik Centre. Well worth the visit. Nice selection of shops.
J. P.
This is the shopping centre they were building when they found the Viking settlement that became the Jorvic Center. Nicely set out space in keeping with the surrounding history.
S. L.
Lots of hidden gems to be found around this area. Lots of different shops to browse around. Nice places to eat and enjoy a relaxing latte or an ice cream.
j. 2.
We love York, and copperplate is lovely, shops cafes outdoor spaces to sit while you have a coffee.
G. D.
Just Like any other tourist town center, lots of popular big retailers and lots of overpriced eBay tat shops. There is a nice section near the jorvic museum set up with deckchairs and AstroTurf which was good for a rest after traipsing round the shops.
Worth a wander round for a few hours
B. C.
There's a good variety of shops, near to Tower Street car park which has a number of disabled bays. It also has access to Piccadilly car park which houses Shopmobility should there be s need to hire a mobility scooter for your visit to York.
J. A.
Nice shopping precinct in a decent location. They seem to have everything you would need here. Came here with my girlfriend to buy some makeup she forgot to bring on our weekend stay in York, she seemed very happy with the shops.
K. E.
Great place. Love it
C. d. a. c.
We didn't go in many shops as was on day trip from Manchester. However it was nice to see alot of old buildings and cobbled streets still in use. The market area was busy and Every one we did speak to were friendly.
C. S.
Good selection of shops. Very busy in the oldy areas. Uneven streets so could be difficult for those with mobility issues. Harry Potter fans I highly recommend visits as lots of shops here are focused for the tourist draw. Range of clothing stores both chain and independent. We will be back as not enough time to see it all today. Take change as toilets are 40p and parking is £2.60ph
A. G.
Lots of little shops , they cater for all x
R. D.
Only really passed through but was amazed by how much was going on here. People in deckchairs sunning themselves, eating places for lunch and snacks, shops galore and loads of people enjoying the sights and sounds (and shopping). Oh, and there's a Works there too - I never noticed that before. Something new every time I visit this thriving little oasis.
T. H.
Love York! It's best to try and go during the week when it's not so busy. Very beautiful place. Great picture experience. Loads of shops, tea rooms, pubs and boutiques.
W. D.
Lovely place to walk around leisurely very clean.
T. E. T. B. D. D.
Beautiful area, the only issue being the limited parking
e. b.
Atmospheric around Christmas time. A few nice shops. Fenwicks is a fav.
K. S.
Little hard to find places but it's was nice clean, lovely entertaining live band and wonderful shops.
z.
Nice enough, nothing much there
D. H.
I wonder lonely as a cloud around places like this. Fascinating really, people watching, checking out the merchandise, daring to fulfil a dream, rest a while then do it all again. Urban exploration can sometimes be a good way to pass time.
V. H.
Great little space and shops
M. K.
Lovely to walk around the shops of the neighbourhood. A nice feel of escape!
A. Y.
Great place in a great city 👍
A. C.
Open and awaiting your visit ❤️
P. F.
Good shopping area with lots of places including, Flying tiger, Yorvik, Hole in wand and lots more.
E. R.
Recommend the Turkish kebab shop, he's very friendly, and a single kebab will keep you fed all day!
S. R.
A really great area of York the umbrellas really look gorgeous. Extremely busy, a great atmosphere.
M. B.
Love everything about York. Great place to visit. The Viking center, chocolate factory just 5 mins away, the FREE train museum, Christmas market and tons more including the York Minster...
M. E.
Nice place a variety of shops and eateries plus the usual tourist tat. The Yorvik viking centre is in the middle and is an interesting visit. Its an easy way to get from the city centre to Clifford's Tower and the York Castle museum. Both of which are well worth a look.
P.
Very nice, but extremely crowded. The area is now predominately occupied by confectionary shops.
E. W.
Great selection of shops
c.
Felt very comfortable on my visit. Staff treated with respect and gave me plenty of advice. Even gave me time to choose 2 pairs of glasses.
Have recommend a friend to visit.
C. I.
This is obviously a very popular place for locals and tourists. It has some very nice shops and lots of stores where you could buy souvenirs and stuff you never knew you needed. It made a change from the busy tourist areas.
j. W. e.
£5 for 1hr
S. M.
Nice and tidy shopping centre / shopping area, with a Boots and few other shops that I didn't pay much attention to - maybe a Primark if my memory serves me right. There was a few stands selling things like bratwurst, and a green area for kids, think it was artificial grass. The Jorvik Viking Centre is located around here so it is very busy, with queues for that attraction. Cool to think of all the medieval history located beneath this place!!
R. V.
Good choice of shops. Close to the castle museum which is a great family day out. Good facilities at both locations. Safe and friendly area, pedestrian zone.
E. T.
Excellent quality shopping at sales prices, unbeatable.
M. N.
Fab place lots of shops, retail and dining drinking. Usually street entertainment going on and sometimes a farmers market.
a. h.
Was really good but to quick for the price you pay wish they would add a little more to it but very interesting
S. “. K.
Brilliant place lots of shops coffee bars and restaurants and various shopping centres.
S. L.
I love Coppergate, it's a lovely little shopping area, it's so pleasant and cheery. There is a branch of Body Shop, a works bookshop, and a patisserie Valerie (which does a fantastic Sicilian lemon tart) You also have the Jorvik Viking centre. It's a beautiful area of York.
R. T.
Nice patisserie, whiskey shop and of course the Jorvik Viking centre attraction. Coffee shops etc.
It's open air so check the forecast.
Not a large place so visit York other attractions while you're there.
T. L.
A lot of small time businesses that are lovely, there's a hot dog stall that does the most amazing hot dogs. Bagel nash is a great sandwich shop too
J. M.
Enjoyed the shops , very clean and very safe
T. W.
Lovely area in the centre of town. Lots going on and loads of lovely shops.
R. M.
First time I've seen a mini market here. Possibly a little small to cater to the crowds in this area especially with a pushchair. But there was a good variety.
K. W. (. /. K.
Absolutely Lovely area very busy but friendly. The Sandwitches Cafe offers Gluten Free options.
M. S.
Wonderfully historic district of York. Amazing cake shop a d wonderful little pub. If you're a Harry Potter fan the Diagon Alley part will thrill you.
T. R.
Excellent service with a smile and the food made me smile with delight .BEST PLACE TO DINE IN YORK
M. R.
Good variety of stores with great range of products to choice from which make good gift items which are quite unique. Cafes all in abundance . The Jovik Viking museum is located in the coppergate centre which is worth queueing for . A multi storey car park is here but I would recommend one of Yorks park and rides for a full day in city .
B. S.
It was really nice, staff were very helpful when I asked about certain products and helped me with clear instructions.
L. D.
Great place for a wander round. Didn’t visit too many shops so can’t comment on how good they are or what the range is like but centre of York what’s not to like.
A. M.
Lovely place to wander around, street entertainment provided a great atmosphere after lockdown.
C. M.
Another shopping centre becoming a bit sparce since the demise of Topshop etc,, but still enough there too make it worthwhile,,.
R. G.
Decent little centre. Plenty of choice
C. J.
Stunning location lots of shops and cafes. Parking can be tricky so arrive early. Use google maps if its your first visit to york as its easy to get turned around when looking at all the lovely buildings.
L. N.
Lovely place to visit
F. M.
It is a nice small place to wonder around and lovely shops
A. L.
The Shopping Area of York also has the Jorvik Centre to offer, a tourist attraction, so in the holiday periods the walkway can be very crowded. Some of the shops offer a dual entrance/exit system, all are disabled friendly.
N. R.
Very nice lovely 😍
J. M.
Excellent collection of shops within a few paces of each other. If you need a couple things but don't want to wander back and forth across the city, this is a good place to go.
R. C.
As most of York it's very busy lot's of things to do and find we always get lost and tend to go round and round and end up in the same place!! But not to worry we go off in another direction, the only thing we found hard was when we went on the service bus from Leeds, but with the one way sistems it's hard yo find a return bus stop even the police didn't know where to find the bus stops. Now when we go to York we take the car to a park and ride and with plenty of buses you soon find a return bus stop
M. M.
Lovley place to visit.
K. G.
Very clean, tidy and we'll kept centre. Great selection of shops, places to eat and some history thrown in for good measure. A good day out.
S. B.
The sheer beauty of the location begs you to forgive tatty pound shops and generic high street branches. If you're into Vikings, the Jorvik centre is just across the way to feed your fantasies. Parking can be a complete and utter nightmare, it could actually bring you to tears; it may be an idea to park and ride at peak times.
P. I.
Good variety of shops and very easy on the eye.
J. C.
There has a good choice of shops ranging from shoes, clothes, various eateries, etc.... is amazing to walk around with friends and family to spend a quality time. Well recommend to everyone one.
j. j. s.
really great place to go, good shops, good history, really nice!
M. J.
Nice to wander around the streets looking at the shops not something to do over and over again
E. H.
Lots of character, of course, given its locale. Nice to see things returning to some normality
r. y.
Nice place chilled out with a coffee and listened to a young singer performing in square
T. G.
As always with York fantastic charming shops, love the streets of York!
a. f.
Looks lovely for Christmas. Stalls have some amazing things
L. S.
Loved the York, Viking Festival. Jorvick museum was awesome. There are public toilets on silver street near the inspiration for Diagon Alley. We had a blast.
B. S.
Good plase to visit .
B. W.
Places to sit, eat and drink as well as the viking centre, whisky shop and your staple shopping topman, primark, fenwicks. Good parking too. Lovely church on the corner, which is used an exhibition centre. 2 mins walk to the centre of York
M. H.
Great would recommend a visit, do not forget the Shambles market.
j. b.
If you are looking for the shops that are there it's great.
R.
Very nice place for cheap merchandise. Centered right in York, the highlight for me was Prismark, which has very cheap and nice clothes. Also a nice place for coffee in the center which was good for relaxing after shopping.
A. A.
Shopping Parade adjacent to the Yorvic Viking Experience, Fenwick Department Store & Boots are some of the retailers. Visited Fenwick to view their sale items. Good store offering a range of mens wear from well known brands such as Polo, Gant & Boss. Does get very busy on a weekend.
V. J.
Nice part of York, can even have a picnic here 👍
J. V.
A great selection of shops. There are always some good food vendors and occasionally some entertainment. The queue from the Viking centre can get in the way though.
N. W.
Only relates to the whisky shop, next to the Jorvic centre! Good choice of whisky and one was duly bought!
T. S.
Great little shopping centre with a variety of chain and independent shops.
J. (.
Great atmosphere. Friendly vibe. Wander to your hearts content just soaking it all in. Not a necessity to spend, but I dare you to leave without purchasing anything!
D. T.
Not the best shopping centre but also not the worst
J. 7.
It's ok but I had to go there, I wouldn't make a special trip. Just needs some good food stalls in the middle, it would give it a better atmosphere
C. W.
Coppergate shopping center is a brilliant shopping hub based in York, it features shops and lots of things to do, based in the city center, coppergate is only a short walk from the city center
C. C.
A lovely place to visit, lots of nice shops.
S. D.
Lovely place . History and relax .
c. h.
Once again really enjoyed the day out.so much to do when in york
J. W.
Lovely place to visit, nice shops, friendly staff
B. M.
Not particularly well thought of or designed. Probably a good job they have Primark and the Jorvik Centre there, otherwise I would guess it wouldn't be used at all. No charm or anything worthy of note in the buildings, completely out of place in the area it is in.
E. T.
Loads of quirky shops
P. C.
Plenty of eateries, nice to see people social distancing but enjoying shopping!
J. B.
It's a small shopping center with quite a few different shops you would get anywhere else, it has plenty of eating places around the area and is a short walk to many other shops. There is parking nearby so you don't have to walk far to the center.
L. B.
Quite busy but easy tk social distance.
Hand sanitation station available and a lovely Christmas tree
S. H.
Very interesting but needs to be better signposted and spiced up a bit
C. C.
its such a lovley day out here. there is loads of shops, loads of places to eat. you can have a lovley day walking around the shopping centre, shops and market place. there is a viking centre and a small castle to visit, and thats only a few of the places like this to visit. its well worth a day out here, especially if its a hot day, theres loads of ice cream shops and also in the square people perform, which is normally entertaining. theres a designer outlet about 10-15mins away too and the main parking (were we always park) is just below the castle and weve never had an issuse getting a space. enjoy and make the most out of all the things there is to do here!
B. R.
Great place loved to go here again can't wait
A. A.
Enjoyed a coffee listening to a singer while waiting for family to finish up in primark.
J. S.
Smart little shopping area of York
A. D.
Had some very good street food here. Don't know about the shops though.
A. E.
The Coppergate Centre, the shopping centre within York's ancient city walls. Coppergate is home to the famous JORVIK Viking Centre and has a rich shopping and culture offering, with many big-name high street shops, cafes, galleries and museums. Away from the many city bars and pubs, Coppergate offers a fantastic family-friendly experience every day
T. G.
Very nice place will go back over Christmas
P. N.
Very clean and tidy with modern shops while you are here do visit the jorvik center it's well worth a look at would we go again absolutely
J. M.
As a tourist in York, I do love the Coppergate shopping centre, there's everything you could possibly want in such a small area, sometimes easy to forget places are there and get lost occasionally but it's always a good experience nonetheless
J. C.
It's lost some if it's charm since they felled the massive tree in the middle of the square but it is still a quirky space within a bustling city centre. The Viking Centre is here, as is Fenwick's, Primark, The Whisky Shop and a decent small branch of Boots.
T. L.
Big queues for Yorvik Museum . Street food available in the open square
B. B.
Great range of shops, lots are unique, the buildings have the 'chocolate box' look to them - which draws the tourists in. Staff in the places we visited were all friendly
J. T.
Lovely and clean, always looking busy but colourful.
C. W.
Brilliant oldy worldly Street with lots of lovely little shops.
S. N.
I love York. What's happened to all the quirky little shops???? Went there to look for a special souvenirs and nothing... Plenty of places to eat there now which was lacking 7 years ago.
J. S.
All of York is full of life and people especially at Christmas market time excellent place to visit for a few days viking centre a must see along with many other places
T.
Nice shopping area with places to eat and grab a coffee. Usually very busy on a weekend. Fantastic decorations over the festive period.

Loved it good shops
d. R.
Very busy but a nice place to shop.
B. D.
Brilliant place to shop
P. A.
Don't remember this place, but if it's in York it's worth a visit. You may not know, but if York is not your favourite city in the U K, it's in every one else's Top One.
T. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to York today. A great shopping 🛍experience.
m. g.
Busy retail area in York . Mix of shops and cafes.Tourist hotspot for Viking Centre - be prepared to queue for this. Otherwise use your time to visit the rest of the city's rich history.
T. H.
It was quite busy and it looks lovely with the hanging umbrellas. Shame about the shops that have closed
D. G.
Wonderful place to go shopping, all the top clothing stores, lovely little cafés to sit in or out if it's a warm day, craft shops, chocolate shops, quirky shops, great architecture, and the jorvic Center is in the middle of it all, great restaurants and pubs, all in the City Walls😃
P.
A bit austere! But that was mainly because it was a bitter February day when I visited. I'm sure it's beautiful in the summer.. some big high street names here and it's close to the castle and a central NCP car park.
B. D.
Attractive centre and big screen showing Wimbledon tennis when we visited.
J. S.
Simple to move around, easy shopping.
J.
A good range of shops and stalls, a nice place to be although we did have to dodge in and out of the rediculously huge queue that had formed for the jorvik centre.
E. G.
Great experience.
P. H.
Copper gate as well as a good shopping centre, has a host of history.
Inside is the wonderful viking museum set on top of the original Viking settlement of yorvik. The name the vikings called York.
Good place for the kids.
Also St Marys church one of the oldest in York.
Along side we have Cliffords Tower originally built of wood. Here over a hundred Jews died sheltering from a mob. In the time of Richard the lion heart. The instigater owed the Jews a lot of money. There were riots against the Jews all over England at the time. London Norwich Lincoln then here in York.
It was built in stone by Henry the third. Circa 1245..as a motte for the castle.
Seen next to the tower is the Castle Museum. A must for everyone old and young.
B.
Lovely shopping precinct, plenty of shops and food outlets.
S. H.
Lovely array of small shops. The wonderful Jorvik museum and don't miss The Chocolate Story. Fabulous place to visit.
R. B.
Nicely laid out and decorated but can be long at the jarvik viking centre. Not many interesting shops actually in the coppergate itself but plenty nearby.
K. W.
This place was ama,ing full of cultural and historical history there is something for everyone I loved the market it was so unique and the old roads and shops it felt magical
D. J. M.
Coppergate Shopping Centre York, is beautiful to walk around with a warm & friendly atmosphere throughout the year. There is a good choice of shops ranging from clothes, shoes, various eateries & the Yorvik Viking Centre! xx
P. W.
Its a must visit for everyone

E. D.
Lovely place to shop and many things to see
M. H.
Nice food stalls. Good shops. Pleasant atmosphere.
M. W.
Loved the Jorvik museum
G.
Very nice
K. B.
Quirky and unusual shops, need to go early as due to historically narrow streets can get crowded
J. S.
Not the best choice of shops but still a lovely open space and good parking
L. B.
I enjoyed the visit with my grandson he especially liked The Works shop. Handy for Clifford's Tower and the museum too.
P. D.
A nice niche shopping area in the centre of York with a good range of shops Inc Fenwick dept store with in-store Carlucios restaurant and outside coffee shop. Large Primark, Boots chemist, Clinkards shoes, patisserie Valerie, male/female fashion shops and a 1st class art gallery.
L. J.
It's just a shopping centre. There isn't a massive range of shops, you're either looking for what's here or you're not. I found nothing to draw me in. I think that it best summarised as a mediocre shopping centre in an amazing place.
R. J.
Had a walk about York today, visited the yorvik center again, must be the 4th time now over the years
J. W.
Whisky shop n viking centre, qhats not to love
n. R.
Lovely space but can get very busy. Nice few shops here too e.g. Fenwick, Top Shop and home of Yorvik, the ever popular Viking museum.
S. H.
Loved it.. good for a day out and a coffee on the go
K. S.
Lots of good shops x fenwick is good for all ages and Barbara in the toy department is second to none, worlds most loveliest and friendly person.
S. H.
Nice little shopping centre, limited choice of shops, but the ones that are there are top quality. Good atmosphere, clean and tidy.
S. B.
Nice end to a great day in York love the place
F. p. w. b.
Very tourist orientated along with a hefty tourist tax included , nothing startling to see
C. M.
Love it here. Could shop all day
G. M.
Lots of lovely shops and eateries to be found here
S. W.
This is where Jorvik Viking experience is. This is amazing. You go on a little ride through a Viking village as close to the one that was unearthed beneath the street. It's well worth the visit.
J. P.
Love this place , never know what to expect around every corner
B. C.
Best shopping street in York with lits of choice.
C. G.
Fascinating shops, but due to covid and not many face masks worn did not linger and could not enjoy browsing
j. d.
Nice vibrant area plenty of independent shops
S. W.
A very interesting visit to the JORVIK tour, highly recommended suitable for everyone!
D. G.
Busy, good atmosphere, plenty of social awareness and distancing.

Love it xx
A. S.
I do like this part of town it’s not a place I see that often.
C.
Really lively, with lots going on. So many places to pop in to and so historical. Recomend that if you are visiting York, it's a must to visit Coppergate
C. P.
This is a good shopping centre for tourists who visit York as it is also home to Yorvik viking centre. There are plenty of clothes shops nearby, Tesco is round the corner and toilets also
M. W.
Great place all indoor .lovely shops
I. M.
Good shopping experience
P. K.
Very nice
H. A.
Nice shopping centre with a reasonable selection of stores.
J. B.
Caters mainly for tourists now. The social eating area needs attention.
