It's an utter disgrace what the local council have inflicted on those businesses with the bollards blocking access on around York Road. This shop is the go to place for racquet sport enthusiasts. They have expertise from a very helpful family business, with unique services like raquet re-stringing. Prices are reasonable and competitive, add the invaluable advice available, this shop and its people are an institution to many. High Streets and councils should not undervalue the need for niche businesses where all of the above inspire people not to shop online but to visit areas and enjoy other amenities along the way.

Great selection of rackets and clothes. I bought a pair of tennis shoes today and the staff were very helpful and patient letting me bring my dog into the store and try on multiple pairs. Would 100% recommend to tennis and badminton enthusiasts!

Andy and the team will give you fantastic advice on what to buy and what you will need.
All of the staff are friendly and helpful and will provide you with information you need to buy the best items.
The Tennis demo program the shop offers is amazing and so positive that it will help you find the right racket for you needs.
Thanks you two all of the team at Maurice Robin Sports for helping me on my Tennis Journey
Kind Regards Anthony Harvey Parkes

I restrung a few rackets here, not being from the area. Received amazing advice on rackets, strings and local clubs. Also because I was restringing a racket for a friend who'd been furloughed and a bit pinched for cash, they upgraded the strings for no charge. Nice people, very knowledgeable - what more could you want.

Gem of a place advice/purchase racket for different sports. Shop started by a cricketer and has lots of history of this family run business. Shop has stringing machine for tennis and badminton rackets. Prices are very competitive too!

Did exactly what their leaflet said they do!
I was recommended to visit Maurice Robinson Sports by a random person at a Decathlon store.
He was in a similar boat to me in that he was new to tennis but was enjoying it enough to consider buying a good quality, and most importantly, suitable racquet for a beginner/intermediate player.
I made the visit the following day to the shop and was greeted by two amazingly welcoming individuals (I believe Andy and Kayleigh (apologies for spelling)).
They queried my price range, frequency of play, preferred feel and weight and came to hand me a couple of different racquets.
After holding them both i made my choice.
The racquet was not strung which is a great sign as they will be happy to string to suit your needs. This in my opinion is an amazing service as racquets you buy at large stores or online do not necessarily provide bespoke stringing services or even if they did by the time it gets to you who knows how many knocks, bumps and bounces it has taken.
The price of the racquet was reduced by 20% by the owner which made it on par with online prices, however they were also able to string the racquet within that price with a very high quality string.
I received a complimentary Wilson racquet case to hold my racquet and left the store after 30mins with a brand new Wilson Clash 100 Pro.
I feel with the Pandemic we should be supporting our local stores and this store has survived many a testing time. If you are into racquet sports please pay them a visit as unfortunately like many other high street businesses they are not as busy due to online demand.
I honestly feel that i was given a better deal and bespoke service in store than i could have ever imagined receiving online.
Going forward I will be taking my son to the store for his first proper racquet where i know he will be pleased with what he is recommended.
On a side note, i played with the racquet 24 hours later and had the best session I have ever had. So they obviously know what they are doing.
Maurice Robinson Sports, a big thank you from me.

This is a great sports shop! Staff are super friendly and happy to help, the racket demo service is extensive and the range of products is very good. All in all a great place for racket sports equipment

The place is one stop shop for all your racquet needs.
You get to try out a number of racquets.
Good advice provided depending on your needs.
They have a very good racquet re-stringing service
Diligent and Pleasing customer service
Parking is a pain in this area. There are a number of restrictions in Kings Heath now. Ample paid parking available around that area.
