I bit disappointing! I'm new to running and a friend recommended I checked my gait. I came here and made an appointment, which was free on the premise of potentially making a sale, and I was asked to bring my current trainers in. Fair enough! However, went I arrived the lady was very quick to bring up about half a dozen pairs of shoes for me to try on before even checking my old ones or seeing how I walk/run, which I thought to be a bit odd as I am aware that running trainers can be quite specific for different types of gait. She was quite patient, though (I'm not the best shopper, really). Later, when I said I wanted a waterproof garment she went straight for the priciest. Fortunately, Georgina, one of the assistants, made an excellent recommendation, which I've actually now tried in the rain and it just what I needed. At the end of it all an account was made for me and I was given a card stating I'd get 5% off future purchases for the amount that I spent. I went back a few weeks later as I needed gloves and wanted another pair of socks and, even though I did mention my account, which was brought up on the computer, no discount was made. It's not the small amount of money, really, more the principle. Very much sales oriented, I thought.

What a breathe of fresh air to have so much choice and expertise on hand. I drove 2 1/2 hours to visit and I was not disappointed. My intial contact by phone to Caitlin was courteous and warm, my experience with Kristal was first class. Nothing was too much trouble and she was patient, friendly and extremely helpful. I came away after an hour and ten minutes with a purchase that I am extremely happy with. Ishall return.

Popped by for help purchasing a new pair of trainers. Had half an idea of what we wanted, but were open to any brand. The shop is set up brilliantly, in line with current restrictions but still really friendly and comfortable. Kaitlyn was superb, giving suggestions and advise without pushing a particular view. Bought these hoka one ones here. Literally the most comfortable trainers for running especially if like me you experience shin splints. They have perfect comfort and support. Was happy with the customer service here although these trainers weren't recommended to me by the staff I had to ask for them.

I highly recommend Run and Become. After having problems with my left knee, I was fitted with a new pair of running shoes with a different spec at Run and Become. My knee problems are no longer! My fiancé also spoke to them about calf pain he was experiencing- he was fitted with compression tubes and his pain during running is seriously reduced. Also Run and Become refunded an unopened Christmas present quickly and without fuss. Thank you so much.

I would highly recommend Run and Become. We visited the shop today and they were so good with my 10 year old daughter. I’ve always used them for her running spikes. They took the time to makes sure the fit was correct and made my daughter feel relaxed and she could take her time to make up her mind. They always gave some advice on what type of trainers would suit her best for the track. So a very friendly and personally service which meant we left with my daughter saying they were so nice and helpful.

Lovely service here. Lady spent a good 40 minutes with me and took her time explaining the gait analysis and choice of shoes. Nothing was rushed or too much to ask, despite it being a busy Saturday. Got a pair of trainers I was really happy and comfortable in. Would recommend this place to anyone, and will be coming again.

Visited Run and Become in September 2016. First visit to this shop and only went due to other people's reviews. My wife and myself both needed new shoes. The staff were extremely helpful, they spent at least an hour with us getting the shoes correct. They are very knowledgeable and also offered advice on other areas of running. I live in Cornwall, so a visit to the store wasn't possible, but an email got a friendly and helpful reply from Dipika who spent so much time helping me find the Hoka trainers I needed. She was amazing, never tiring of my endless questions and always so willing to help. So pleased I decided to visit Run and Become. I’m a novice runner and have been experiencing some knee pain, so decided to buy some decent trainers. I was a bit nervous about the idea of gait analysis (being a bit of a useless runner at the moment!) but the staff were fantastic. You have the option of gait analysis inside the shop or outside on St Mary’s street. The lovely lady who served me was very friendly and attentive, and made sure we found the best trainer for me. Nothing felt like too much trouble for them and I didn’t feel rushed or pressured into buying anything. I’m very pleased that after buying more supportive trainers I’m no longer experiencing any knee pain! Highly recommend this shop.

Better than excellent. I'd been sold a pair of shoes by another 'specialist' running establishment in Cardiff and within a mile in these new shoes my knees were shot, resulting in an enforced break of 8 weeks from running. Guys at R&B practically lay down on the pavement to examine my running gait as they tweaked and re-tweaked the level of instep support I needed. Superb service and no more problems with knees or any other joint. Can't recommend enough.

Chitika spent 20 minutes with me, checking my running style and recommending 5 different pairs of shoes before I finally settled on the final pair. They weren't the cheapest but when you're running half marathons, you want a pair that will last the distance so I'm more than happy. Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it. Great advice and service today from the staff at Run and Become. All too often shops will sell you something without really understanding what you need, not the case here. Today after listening to my experiences, watching me run and checking the fit of several shoes over 20 minutes or so, the staff at Run and Become instead pointed me to the shoe I needed at an online retailer as they no longer stocked it. They clearly care deeply about running, and I'll be back in the future!

This shop gives the best advice. They don't have video gait analysis but this is an advantage. I have been into shops which have it and 2 months later my feet hurt because I have the wrong shoes. Also they seem to have a great selection. I travel there from Swindon.

Fantastic place. Went to buy a new pair running shoes as mine had given up. They really take care of you. A bit of running up and down in a standard shoe and I'd been diagnosed as an overprotonator. Came up from the stores with 5 pairs of shoes that might be appropriate. First pair turned out perfect very comfortable and you could feel the support and cushioning was just right. Not the cheapest but I've bought here before and the shoes really last.

Really professional service - I contacted the Cardiff store through the web site, they responded immediately answering all my questions. I went to the shop and was helped straight away by a friendly and attentive member of staff. I am not a particularly serious runner so I was concerned about being intimidated or patronised, but not in the least. The staff were all friendly and helpful and kind, and gave me great recommendations and tips. I did a gait analysis and was fitted with the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever had, I think! The lady who assisted me explained carefully why other shoes were not comfortable for me. On paying I was given various discount vouchers and invited to come back and take part in events. Run&Become Cardiff is the most professional, helpful, value for money sports related shop I have been to in the UK, USA or South Africa - others could learn a lot from this dedicated team and my feet and I thank them all wholeheartedly

I love this store. They've been to my rescue a number of times and are just genuinely lovely, patient, honest and so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. In the past number of months they've been able to kit me out with some Brooks which was stupendous. My feet are, I am sure, the base design for The Beast from Xmen. My toes are like fingers and just a nightmare to squish into anything. They assessed my Hobbit feet and took me outside for a plod or two up and down the path before spending time carefully and patiently getting me a wide variety of trainers to try on. If I could be Cinderella, they'd have been my Prince Charming. I finally settled on some mens shoes to handle my monkey toes. Have run in these since and they're cushioned, comfortable and just an absolute pleasure. Massive thanks to the team. Then most recently they've come to my rescue yet again. I was having major issues with my trousers constantly falling down when running and I was beginning to fear of being done for indecent exposure or at least be pulled for questioning with my weird wonky striding and dodgy squats whilst trying to yank up my trousers mid jog which inevitably meant giving myself an ultimate wedgie. I was growing tired of this and then with Christmas and all the puddings and mince pies it grew worse as I've ended up with slightly... let's go with "curvier" thighs... causing a little chub rub of my legs when my trousers start slowly making for an escape. So they spent their time picking out a mad variety of trousers and after a couple of initial attempts they then managed to nail it. Man trousers. They are BANG on. I would never have thought of this so the fact they sorted me out and threw (respectfully passed them) to me to try, I was happier as a pig in poop! Great people, patient, lovely, and yes. You may pay a few quid more for some of the gear but I'd rather it go to people who know what the fidge they're talking about and for something quality and is going to last. They're worth their weight in gold. Top notch people!!

For the second time in two months, I've received a brilliant level of service from the team at Run and Become, Cardiff. I returned to the outlet for the second time to talk through some issues I'd developed while running in a new set of trainers and to get some guidance on how to work with the problem. The team showed a huge amount of understanding and spent close to an hour reassessing me in my new trainers, my old trainers, and in a variety of the outlet's other stock, as well as performing other biomechanical tests. I'm an allied healthcare professional and I can honestly say that I felt a great deal of confidence in the depth of knowledge of the team and how they go about their business. The outcome of my visit was ultimately an exchange of my trainers at no cost to me. Great stuff.

Got fitted here (for running shoes) for the first time. The person was spectacular, geeked out about running just the right way, and kept making suggestions and bringing shoes out until I (and they!) were satisfied with the results. I also visit the personal trainer stationed here, Dai Morgan, and can give him a similar recommendation actually :).

Gait test is really useful in choosing trainers, but the range of clothing is a bit uninspiring (could do with some more patterns) and the staff could be a tad more enthusiastic in there, but all in all a good place to get good quality running gear.
