I read a few poor reviews for LD Mountain Centre after I had made my order. I also paid for next day delivery on a pair of walking boots. I had expected to wait for my order to arrive, but from ordering on Friday, they turned up, faster than expected on Saturday morning. Really couldn't fault the price or the service. All in all, excellent and I'd have no hesitation to buy again.

I already had a good idea of what I wanted and compared the coat to another insulated jacket that I was considering. They got what I wanted out of storage and I have a great jacket (£35 cheaper than Cotswolds (!), as they will match the price on the L & D website - so ask). They were very helpful in the shop.

I bought a few things from LD Mountain Centre and the delivery has been great. However, just spent another £240 on a jacket for a Christmas present for my wife, but unfortunately it’s just didn’t fit right, so we returned it following their guidance. Sent it Special next day delivery at a cost. We didn’t heard anything about the return so after 7 days+ we tried to call them several times to check it was received safely. They never answered the phone so left messages and still waiting a call back. Finally I emailed them explaining my concerns. Email response: I should chase post office and trace the delivery and send proof of postage. So we did that and sent the proof. Response: that they couldn’t confirm receipt, it’s might be in their queue and it will probably take 2 weeks to process and they’d be in touch when they get around to it. I am now £240 down before Xmas, can’t buy a replacement until were refunded and the shop is no help and totally worried about the situation. No wonder the independent stores are going under, I wish I had used Amazon or Go outdoors as there web services just don’t compare. Really disappointed as I try and use local businesses so feel let down.

I was looking for a replacement waterproof padded jacket, out of season I must admit, but the obliging assistant went upstairs to locate from the stock room two items which met my requirements. I chose a North Face which can covert to a waterproof only, if required, with a healthy discount.....well satisfied.

I ordered some Hestra gloves online at 11am on a Friday for next day delivery. Received the confirmation email and realised I ordered the wrong size gloves. Called the number and there is no direct number to speak to someone, so left a message and emailed the address given. Then got worried as I read reviews. Well they did get back to me a couple of hours later and confirmed my order had been amended, I then received the correct goods on Saturday (next day) so very happy with this service and that is 5 -stars. I am knocking 1 star off as there was no direct route to speak to someone and think this could be improved, live chat or a telephone number that someone answers.

Montane Resolute jacket bought in March last year had a faulty zip. Took it back to the store and they sent it off to Montane. Because I needed a jacket the store sent me out a replacement so I didn't need to wait for Montane to process the return. Top service from the guys at LD. When it goes wrong you can't beat old fashioned good service from a real store!

The staff at this store are so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I needed to buy a new rucksack for hiking Hadrian's Wall and the guy who served us (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name!) let me try so many different bags to ensure I got the right fit for my frame. I ordered a pair of ski boots. Their sizing selection was really good, I had no difficulty finding what I was looking for. The price was really unbeatable, even factoring in international shipping... I was nervous ordering from overseas that it would take forever, get stuck in customs, or be the wrong item or size. My experience couldn't have been further from my fears. The boots arrived in 3 days (UK to Texas). That is really unbelievable. The box arrived via UPS in perfect condition, boots were well packed. They appear in all ways new and in first condition, size, color, model, etc. all exactly as I requested. I haven't tried on the boots yet but for anyone in the US thinking of ordering from LD Mountain Centre, my experience was really great, enough that I'm writing this review.

Was a bit skeptical at first because the price was so low and was an international purchase on my new Salomon S/Pro 100 ski boots. Am VERY satisfied with my interaction with this company. I am on the east coast USA and it only took 3 days for my boots to arrive from the UK! Great buying experience! I will say, there was a $13.00 more difference because i used Paypal and I guess they charge extra for converting currencies. Also, my bank charged me $9.00 for an international purchase. That being said, the price was still great! Will def be considering doing business with them in the future!

This is a great shop. Not only are the products competitively priced, more importantly to me the staff were enormously helpful. They posted my order quickly so it arrived the following day - Meindl Philadelphia GTX walking shoes. As I was unsure of the fit I visited the shop and a very knowledgeable and patient member of staff listened to me and worked out a solution ( heel lifts) so I was comfortable with the shoes I wanted. Meindl are my favourite walking shoes, are comfortable and last a long time. LD Mountain Centre didn't rush me, gave me the opportunity to try other shoes and obviously knew their stuff. The whole experience was comfortable and relaxed. I would recommend the LD Mountain Centre every time now, don't bother with large chains who have people with less knowledge or interest.

Newcastle's only genuine climbing and outdoor outlet. Crampons, ice axes, climbing rope and carabineers all available along with tents, sleeping bags and gear. However their main stock is clothing, especially coats, boots and fleeces. Here you will find Gore-tex in every colour known to humanity, and some that aren't. Knowledgeable staff as they are the originators of the Berghaus brand and the first in Europe to use the now world-leading Gore-tex fabrics.

WOW! Popped into store on Wednesday evening with a pair of Ski boots that were once very comfortable but over the last 2 years had become more and more uncomfortable. Spent time with both guys from the boot department explaining pain points and I can honestly say I couldn't have received a better service I feel like I have a new boot as they are now so so comfortable and I really can't wait to get on the snow next week to try them out. If you're looking for a ski boot I couldn't recommend this place enough they will spend 'literally' all the time it takes to get you the perfect fit and are true experts in the field of all things ski. The shop also has an amazing range of outdoor clothing ranging from the very expensive and premium quality to the more affordable, with staff on hand to help you with what you need. The store has a community feel and is by far the best outdoors shop I have been to. Support this local business!

I was looking for a specific walking boot in a size 7 and found it online at LD Mountain Centre, the only problem was that I needed them in four days time. I emailed the company on the Sunday night asking if they did express delivery and if I could get them by my deadline. I got a reply early the next morning to say that not only did they send items by next day delivery but that it wouldn't cost anything extra! The shoes were put aside for me and once I'd ordered them online I got a dispatch email within the hour telling me they'd been sent off. I received them the next day. I felt compelled to write a review as I think this is brilliant customer service. The shoes were £36 cheaper than I'd seen on the shops and I didn't have to pay anything extra for next day delivery. Plus I got a very swift and friendly response from Kirsty to all my emails. I can't recommend them enough!

I have always been a fan of LD Mountain Centre, my 'go to' shop when I need anything remotely outdoors. This visit did not disappoint! I've been looking for a new pair of ski boots for the new season and I just knew LD was the place to go. I know LD can been seen as expensive compared to some on-line discount stores but I'm always willing to pay that little extra to get the hands on customer care you receive from the friendly guys at LD as well as the high quality equipment. The lads have so much knowledge and are always willing to share their thoughts, it’s never a forced sale, it’s a genuine approach which caters to your personal standard, ability and personality. The test of a company is how they deal with issues when thing goes wrong. DPD totally bodged the delivery of my item, they managed to take a week to deliver someone else's parcel to me. LD Mountain Centre were quick to resolve the problem. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful. Definitely a company I would use again. I'll perhaps avoid DPD next time though.

First Rate Service: I ordered a Camelbak water bladder on line on Sunday afternoon. By midday Monday Kirsty from customer services emailed me to let me know that the size I wanted was out of stock. This can happen with on line ordering as stock can quickly deplete and it is a bit frustrating. However, we negotiated a replacement on Tuesday and it was with me the next day. Unlike LB and PH I feel the service I received was excellent and Kirsty was one of the best cutomer service people I've ever dealt with.

(Translated) Be careful if you order from Spain, I was detained for about three weeks in customs and when I got home they asked me to pay € 120 more, I contacted LD Mountain Center a week ago by mail and they still have not answered me. I edit and update my review: after contacting LD Mountain Center at the email they indicated (previously they did not answer me due to a mistake, I wrote to the address of no replay) they informed me that it was an error foreign to them since supposedly the price I paid included the customs tax. They informed me that they would contact the transport company (UPS) and when they received the order back they would refund the money. UPS gave no sign of the order and they gave it up for lost, even so they have refunded my money. I give LD Mountain Center 5 stars because they have kept me up to date with the process, they have been very friendly and attentive, and they have borne the costs of UPS's negligence, but I insist to those of you who are going to place orders in Spain that you have Keep in mind that customs can expect to charge you again for what you think you have already paid. (Original) Cuidado si hacéis pedidos a España, a mí me lo retuvieron unas tres semanas en aduanas y al llegar a casa me pedían que pagara 120 € más, contacté con LD Mountain Centre hace una semana por correo y aún no me han contestado. Edito y actualizo mi reseña: tras contactar con LD Mountain Centre al correo que me indicaron (anteriormente no me contestaban por un despiste mío, les escribí a la dirección de no replay) me informaron de que se trataba de un error ajeno a ellos ya que supuestamente en el precio que pagué iba incluida la tasa de aduanas. Me informaron que se pondrían en contacto con la empresa transportista (UPS) y cuando recibieran de vuelta el pedido me devolverían el dinero. UPS no daba señales del pedido y lo dieron por perdido, aún así me han devuelto el dinero. Le doy 5 estrellas a LD Mountain Centre porque me han mantenido al corriente del proceso, han sido muy afables y atentos, y han cargado con los costes de la negligencia de UPS, pero insisto a los que vayáis a hacer pedidos a España en que tengáis en cuenta que aduanas os puede pretender cobrar de nuevo por lo que pensáis que ya habéis pagado.
