Being ‘new’ to proper running, I was having feet and calf pains with my existing trainers. After having the free gait analysis, I was recommended a selection of 2-3 pairs that suited my foot/running style. Having bought a pair there and then, I can honestly say I have had none of the same problems since and cannot recommend highly enough. Sure, decent running shoes cost a fair amount, but are so worth it if you’re putting in some serious miles. Will be returning when the next pair are needed.

Really excellent specialist running store, with friendly, knowledgeable staff who - SHOCKER - actually seem to LIKE their job and want to HELP you! I'm not much of a runner but have been advised to start by my physio so I went in clueless and emerged very happy. This shop is surrounded by chain sports and shoe shops but seriously if you're looking for any kind of advice and don't want to be ignored by the teenagers in foot locker then I highly recommend this place. Restored my faith in shopping :).

Honestly best experience!! Had so much help from amazing (Canadian?) girl who gave me so much choice and advise- didn’t catch her name but it was her 40th birthday yesterday and she was a star. Also lovely Italian lady gave me some tips for moving to Australia! The service was perfect I left feeling completely successful and wanted to say thanks again!

Just been into store & saw Tom. I had spoke previously on the phone to him a few weeks ago as I have odd sized feet. Taking the plunge I went into the store today & Tom was absolutely FABULOUS. He spent time sorting out 2 different sized pairs of shoes for me, that didn’t look too different as one pair was from the kids range & the other from the ladies range. Plus he gave me advice on how I could raise the sole height. He was so helpful & kind & made what is usually an embarrassing & soul destroying activity buying footwear, a really pleasurable experience. Thank you so much Tom & I’m really sorry I never took the time to find out your colleagues name, who helped my husband sort his running shoes. Can’t recommend this team & store highly enough.

Popped into the shop today for a gait analysis and assistance choosing a new daily trainer to replace my (way too old!) Adidas Supernovas. Was ably assisted by Tom, who took the time to go through various options with me before we decided on some Saucony Rides. Unfortunately they only had black in my size and limited other colour options available to order so I ended up having to order direct from Saucony but at no point did Tom make me feel like I'd wasted his time. I really appreciated the time and help I was given and will definitely give them another try when the time comes for my next pair!

Went into Up & Running Reading and was assisted by John. Very affable and yet professional. Carried out the gait analysis and took several pairs of trainers to try on...his explanation on cost of trainers really helps in deciding that really its an investment (so don't bother scrimping by going to Sports Direct) ...here you'll get professional advice and also the quality of the trainers they have is incredible. So thank you John. Also a huge shout out to Josie who provided great telephone help in ordering the correct size and getting them posted from warehouse. She even managed a pricematch from other online retailers. So thank you Josie. Keep up the great work!

Today Tom provided 5 star service in regards to my trainers which weren't quite right for me he spent time helping me try other pairs explaining how each pair were fitting to my feet and about how the trainers work for your feet. Time, knowledge and Customer service was excellent. Thanks again Tom looking forward to my next run now.

Went into the shop today for the first time as we were passing by, not looking for anything in particular. Staff were polite and friendly on entry. John was particularly helpful. He carried out a gait analysis there and then and provided 4 different pairs of trainers for me to try on afterwards. Although I didn't buy anything today, with thanks to John being so pleasant to deal with I will 100% be returning to purchase my first proper running shoes from him soon.

Great experience. I wanted to find a shoe that would reduce the time I spend injured after running, so I could train more. I went for the free gait analysis, explained a bit about how I run and the problems I was facing. The staff were friendly, talkative and helpful, and picked out some shoes for me to try. They helped talk me through what I should be looking out for, and I purchased a pair. Just finished my run expecting to be out for a few days due to shin splints, and happily I feel like I could easily manage another run tomorrow. A couple of things to consider - if you want the gait analysis, I'd recommend to try and get there at least 20-30 mins before the store closes to give yourself enough time to try on shoes afterwards. Also, I don't think this store offers budget shoes. It looks like they're focused on mid-high range, quality shoes. (They do sell other running stuff too, but I didn't look at that :) ).

Went here today for a gait analysis with a view to buying new running shoes. I immediately felt very welcomed into the shop and although the running machine was out of action, the member of staff Tom reassured me that he could still check my gait and guide me from there. After giving him a background of my running and niggles he bought out a running shoe to use as a starting point to work out my gait. Despite a very busy shop and serving other customers to ease the congestion, he saw me through the analysis and after trying a few pairs of shoes I subsequently purchased the Brooks Ghost 13's after being more than happy with the guidance and advice given. I will definitely be returning in the future.

If you're looking for running shoes in Reading and you don't want to be overwhelmed with louder brands, here is the place. Staff are helpful and you will get something good

Well, I went looking for my usual running shoe at my usual sports outlet, finding it closed permanently... A quick search on Google and Up & Running was identified. Easy to find, welcoming despite Covid restrictions, though what is more instant eye contact from the busy staff, recognition within a few seconds and even more the courtious way the staff absented their way from their current engagement and approached. Now though my needs are simple (just love BROOKS) the member of staff guided me through the more recent updates and varieties on offer. With options offered the member of staff retired a short distance and gave me time to consider, they even came back after checking availability of options. A deal was done and I bought the Ghost 13s Guys a great start to a new store, and to your staff who clearly know customer satisfaction, Thank you for your attention, good work
