Reviews of Priory Country Park
I. K.
Beautiful place to relax. The footpath around the main lake is perfect for a quick run / walk. The park is really spacious, so you can find a nice spot with a good view though it gets much busier in the weekends. The cafe is well equipped, there are public toilets near to it. Definitely one of the prettiest parks in Bedford.
A. R.
Lovely place to wander round with kids and also alone. Lots of room to cycle around the lakes and lots of routes to choose from. Lots of birds and wildlife around and a nice little cafe to refuel at. Also a brewers fare nearby the top end of the lake which has a little bird feeding area that you can sit with the birds if you dare! There are 4 car parks and all are free of charge according to the information leaflets.
G. W.
Loved it! Good area to go walking keep in mind that cyclists also use the same walking lane as the pedestrians however it's well sign posted with priority given to walkers. Lots of ducks & swans live here and there is plenty of benches scattered around the walking lane should you chose to take a rest. I loved the views and there's also the added benefit of a coffee shop to stop by at during your walk as well as a Beefeater should you feel the need for a beverage or/and a meal 😊 Almost forgot check out the marina nearby as well
7. Д.
Mmm very beautiful park 🥰🥰🥰
Here is benches, tables, a lot of beautiful birds, nice trees 🌳 and flowers 💐 😀 😊 many different ways where you can go ,amazing park 😀 😊 😉
A. H.
Nice open space with lakes, nature and play area you can walk for miles best early but the further from the car park the quieter it gets, river close by.
M. M.
Nice place with lots of animals, birds, rabbits, foxes. Playground for children, benches, perfect for a Sunday walk.
D. B.
A great open space with loads of room for social distancing. There is plenty of space for parking and an overflow carpark just in case. Lots of wildlife to see and a lot of dragonflies. There is a hard walkway for cyclists and wheel chairs. You do not need to stay on the main walkways as there are other routes to follow to the fingerlakes and other areas including the River. Great place to visit even for people with disabilities as the main route is hard tracks.
T. D.
Went for a lovely walk with my girlfriend. Plenty of good walking paths the lakes for water sports looked lovely. I can see why this is popular.
P. T.
Nice walk around small lake but during hot summers day the intensive smell from water can be very distributed
S. J.
Such a treasure this place is. Beautiful walk around the lake with a small buffet at the entrance and public toilets ♥️
B. J.
Great nature park, wonderful river, lake, and birds. Not too busy, peaceful. Great place to take a walk.
M. K.
Nice walk around the marina and the water. Its a shame dogs are allowed off leads. And allowed to approach/ jump up people that are trying to pass the time feeding and watching the ducks and swans. The pathway around the water has been arranged for disabled access. With stunning stop view of the lake.
V. M.
Beautiful park. The ranger and warden are lovely too. Thanks for helping to make our family reunion day special
N. B.
Beautiful place to spend an afternoon walking. Plenty of parking and a cafe to buy coffee
C. o.
A nice area for walks and recreation. Cafe for refreshments and an ice cream van for the kids. Race for life held there, all in a good cause.
S. H.
Plenty of carparking space in the free carpark. Nice wide paths to walk on and plenty of benches to sit on. Lovely to see all the birds on the lake. We went in the late afternoon, some if the swans and geese were settling down for the night near the path and walking on the path, we were able to walk around them. Suitable for all ages.
J. W.
Had a lovely time , free parking which was a bonus , there were loads of walks spoilt for choice , we went to the cafe at 3pm it was closing could not believe it had to go else where for a cup of tea
A. H.
This was an amazing find! Didn’t realise bedford had such a beautiful park with a HUGE lake so close to the town centre.
There’s a section you can walk in with ducks and swans that are very calm and tame. Theres a restaurant close to this park. Toilets and a small shop are located here.
A great place to have a picnic, row a boat and just relax. Family friendly and for all the exercise fanatics, you can walk around the lake which can take a long while but the view is amazing so you won’t regret it!
K. M.
Priory Park is fantastic place to walk and see beautiful nature.
C. K.
Great place for a walk on a sunny day.
s. f.
Lovely day out with the kids here. Plenty of free parking. We had 2 dogs and 6 kids and all were kept amused. We had one adult hold the dogs while the other ordered (so I don't know how dog friendly). There are areas you could have dog off lead but understandably needed to keep them on lead in conservation areas.
C. J.
This place is practically my back garden. Photos taken in 30c ducks are so tame a friendly.
G. B.
Great place and has a cafe for drinks and food
T. F.
Lovely place to visit, huge area to walk around, lots of lovely woods and fields to explore.
D. O.
Nice Park for a quick walk or coffee in the cafe.
R. B.
Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful walk. Lots of natural beauty. Make sure you bring your own ice cream/cold drinks though as the cafe is very expensive. Playground for the children. Lots of fun
L. L.
A lovely walk. But has a lack of bins, and dog mess is also unpleasant. The bridges could really do with being painted. Would recommend more security or policing, as my partner stated she would not gave gone off trace if I had not been with her and our children. Not a place to be avoided, but the council could do alot better.
D. B.
Beautiful to walk around with or without dogs, bring good boots for the mud, healthy food for the birds, etc. On site is a café, pub, hotel, playground with zip line and a marina. Plenty of parking but can fill up on sunny days. Picnic areas and tables near the beginning too. No lighting on the path. Good place for Pokémon Go also.
R. P.
Very large park and lake. Free parking but gets very busy at weekends. Good for dog walks. Can get cooffe and sandwiches in shop by lake although dogs not allowed inside so you'll need someone to look after dog when go in
C. J.
If you are looking for an amazing sunset in Bedford. This park is the best.
D. H.
Enjoyed a walk around the lake and along the Ouse, luck was with us weather wise.
A. D.
Perfect location, running around easy, always pretty scenery, free gym is great.
T. C.
Absolutely beautiful walk around the lake! Beautiful scenery all around and usually something going on. Large picnic areas all over, public toilets and a near-by beefeater 🥰😁👍
I. V.
Great place. Love it here. Nice walk around the lake.
G. S.
Lovely spot for a walk and picnic
K. B.
A pleasant day walking round this country park taking in the wild life and popping into the little cafe for lunch and a drink. There are Toilet facilities suitable for all there. There are several different carparks at different entrances .
m. b.
Brilliant place for families and wildlife, well recommended, just bring your camera
A. H.
Nice lakes next to the river, cafe and paths around the main lake but plenty of quiet places along the river. Easy walk around suitable disabled. Ideal dogs also play area and pub. Good place to walk or cycle can get busy but lots of places to walk to if you like it quiet. Lack of clean toilets.
K. K.
Good place for taking a walk. One side of the park is verging on being in the countryside where as the other is more developed with well built paths and facilities. For a nice route I suggest avoiding the main lake and instead start in the north east corner and follow the river down through the embankment and into town.
D. B.
Plenty of free car parking. Wide pathways for walking , cycling and pushing a pram. Coffee shop with toilets. Plenty of seating areas for your picnics. Notice boards on the information of the lake and wide life.a gated feeding area.
J. B.
I had no idea this park was here. Soaked in history especially with the wall recently being brought back to life, over 1000 years old. They do need to however do something about the green algae currently in the water and a general clean up
J. A.
The perfect place to go for a nice walk. In the evening you can see some of the larger birds around the river bank looking for food which is also quite nice.
A. H.
Went for a walk around the lake on 30 Dec 2020 - really lovely and the North side of the lake is fine for prams etc but you need some wellies to get around the SW corner. Water a few inches deep covering the path and surrounding field.
S. C.
Lovely walk around a beautiful lake that can be finished in about 25 mins if you're in a rush or you can take longer if the day invites it. In addition to the main path around the lake there are also several other paths that branch off and take you in different directions that can make your walk even longer. Definitely recommend if you're looking for fresh air and nature.
A. J.
I usually come here during lunch for a walk along the river side. Its a fantastic park and managed very well by the local council. The paths are good in places although some are gravel, some have tree route issues but won't pose a problem for wheelchair users.
The walk along the river via the canoe slalom is very picturesque, and there's plenty of places to stop and trees for shade on hot days.
Further round, the walk round the lake is easy going and lots to see, including herons, kingfishers, buzzards and red kites. There is ample parking at both ends of the park, although be aware that the business park do use one of them so it can be quite full at times.
1.
Its always a lovely peaceful long walk, its a nice place to take the dogs and let them play and have a swim! or to just go for a bike ride.
Theres a little park there if you are taking children with you and its a nice place just to sit and chill out.
a. h.
We love walking around this park. You can be around other people or you can walk and walk and not see anybody and it is so peaceful and calming
A. J.
Beautiful views and vistas. Very muddy, even the paths around the lake, would be far better if they invested in better paths - Current ones require rubber boots or hiking boots for nearly all walks. River is in full flood and going over its banks, took this photo from a nice bridge
J. B.
Beautiful park, so many spots to just sit down and admire the nature! Mostly very well kept, with quite a small amount of litter around the area and a decent amount of bins.
K. L.
Nice public paths around the lake. Suitable for young children.
Fishing spots allow nice stops along the way when not occupied.
M. S.
Beautiful park with alot to explore and see if ur in to green space and nature. Stunning views at over many lakes and ponds. Looks to have good fishing too just a shame I didn't have my rod with me.
N.
This is a really good park to walk around. There are various bodies of water around it that you can look at and photograph. Awesome experience.
D. H.
Today is the day I discovered some of Bedford. What a quaint little park. Great to see runners and walkers and sailors. Perfect place to come and take a breather. Beefeater nearby is a great place to eat too.
J. B.
There are times I genuinely can't believe places like this are free for us to visit
H. M.
Beautiful place to take your family for walks around the lakes. Enjoy a picnic and feed the ducks
J. A.
Lovely walk around the lake, cafe, toilet facilities. Regularly do a run around the lake or walk the dog.
E. L.
Great place to spend time with the family
G. F. S.
Wonderful green space for walking, picnic and parking spaces nearly always available. Look out for the cute wildlife.
a.
Beautiful piece of land with breathtaking lake. You can see people doing water sports. Trails are very interesting and lots of corners to explore. Lovely children's play area with ample amount of space and freedom for them to move. Cafe was okay but could be crowded with long cue since many people visit.
I absolutely enjoyed the park and still run for my morning walks there. If someone tries mindfulness meditation this place is ideal without distractions.
V. N.
Lovely walk, observing the starts of spring and the animals in their natural surroundings.
N. C.
Lived near here for about a million years, but this was the first ever visit. We wanted somewhere that was easy for our elderly dog to walk. Well, we found this place just about perfect and the dog, Daisy, really enjoyed it. Well kept and clean paths, lots of dog bins and general waste bins too. Obviously a well run place. Only slight issue was no seating seemingly available in the shade near the cafe. Minor really.
Overall, very impressed.
W. R.
If you want a lovely walk, this is the place to go. Great views around the lake, free car and then a choice of either a drink in the pub or a coffee in the cafe if in need of refreshments.
T. A. -. F. L.
Excellent park. So many activities we can do. Boating, fishing, running or just walking around and enjoying the scenery, or bird watching.
I. W.
A very well looked after country park. Play areas for kids. Plenty of seats. Free parking. Lots of wildlife. There is also a cafe. Various places for all the family. If you have dogs please keep them under control. Saw one woman throwing a ball into the water for her dog, but right in front of swans.
C. C.
Great day out and lots to do so lovely walks all very level for all
J. D.
A lovely well kept local place to walk, now fully accessible all the way round the lake for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles.
A. M.
I love this place, perfect for a family walk, a bit of exercise, a quite stroll or taking photos. There’s a lovely little cafe, very clean, friendly staff but a bit slow as long as your not in a rush it’s fine hehe. There’s a lake take about 40 mins to walk around beautifully kept, no rubbish or dog mess anywhere. Good wide paths lots and lots of grass to picnic or a play about. Ducks 🦆 squirrels and birds all over, the Park was good and my son loved the maze good family fun. Would definitely go back. plenty of free parking the only downside is the outside toilets, would definitely not be using them again.
K. T.
What's not to like so much to see, wildlife everywhere you can walk a big circuit around the lake or you can go off on your own adventure so many places to explore.Animal friendly, playpark,Woodlands, cafe or why not take a picnic
G. T.
Stayed there for three nights. I will stay there happily on my next visit to the area. Two minute walk from hotel entrance to the lake. Nice cafe/restaurant by the lake.
Beefeater next to the hotel.
M. N.
We waited about an hour for our food as inside diners are served first, I was told. There was a mix up over friends who decided not to eat, so when we inquired about our food, it had been cancelled!
There was no fish at all for fish and chips; I ordered lamb, then saw salmon was available. That wasn't pointed out cos it cud'nt be battered..but instead of chargrilled it was burnt. I was offered another, but couldn't wait any longer, so picked off the burnt bits.
Not good as far as food concerned ..but dining inside is usually fine..good atmosphere as always, and smiley kind staff.
J. T.
I loved to walk Kalou down here nearly every day & afternoon in sunshine, rain & snow - it's a great place for all age's lot's of different places for children to explore.
J.
Wild open space and lakes.Great for children for nature walks. Reasonable cafe.
M. S.
Great time Granddaughters enjoyed playing and climbing slides and Zip wire, fed the Geese Duck's and other water bird's just nice scenery walking around.😁
J. B.
Totally unexpected oasis of calm. Loads of history from Romano British farms to priories. Really rather beautiful in the early morning. Worth a walk!
C. U.
Nice place for a visit, popular for walking, running, cycling; café with indoor and outdoor seating; good paths, plenty of benches 👍
L. j. L.
Peaceful and a big space to do a wide range of activities in..we were walking and didn't have time for it all, lovely and clean with T shop
A. L.
Great place to experience out doors lakes rivers, walks cycle routes. Plenty of free parking cafe on site. Good place for bird watching very well managed site. Lake has some water activities sailing windsurfing etc.
R. M.
Stunning perfect combination with good old British weather brings a traditional feel to a beautiful place.
M. W. O.
An adorable place to go and visit with peaceful country lanes and lakes to walk along enjoying the water by your side. Many dogs are walked around Priory Park and there is a cafe for hot and cold snacks, with Beefeater by Premier Inn for any guest wanted to lodge for the night.
d. s.
Nice place to visit not too far to walk round and plenty of options re routes. Cafe was ok
O. N.
I always love walking here, people fishing, some walking their dogs . There is a play ground for kids and feeding the ducks .wowww. Nice big park.

Nice long walks, or shorter ones just around the marina, lots of wildlife. And a lovely little cafe. Nice area that dogs can go and have a paddle or swim, from a gravelled area.

L. W.
It is stunning. Nice place to walk
L. E.
So lucky to live next to it, beautiful area.
M. G.
Lovely park for walks and just to chill, especially with beautiful weather
S. K.
Nice big lake to walk around in the good weather. There seem to be a few more picnic tables than there used to be and also a cafè for refreshments. Parking is easy enough and free. The park is next to Priory Marina and the large Beefeater restaurant.
D. N.
What a beautiful place. Great for dog walkers. It also has a small park for under 10s with plenty of open spaces for picnics
m. p.
Variety of walks available, either around the lake or along the river or a gateway to a long walk to sandy.
Z. S.
Lovely clean area and lots of walking areas, just to relax and forget all other problems.
S.
Had a lovely walk around the lake, was a bit busy, but still able to socially distance
C. D.
Lovely walk with the dogs, and if you have family, park and play areas for children and a cafe so you can have a sit down.
N. W.
Lovely large park to walk around, all on the flat with no steps, loads of wildlife to look at too.
N.
Lovely place on outskirts of Bedford. Rivers, birdwatching , walks, cycle paths, wildlife (no crocodiles), sailing club, marina.
P. R.
What a lovely lake and a great walk.
N. A.
Lovely walk can feed ducks there. Only problem is that I have a double pram so have to use the disabled toilet that has baby changing facilities in it and had to try to get a key from someone which was frustrating as it tends to be locked. I should note there is a changing area in female toilets ok for if you have only one child or two that can both walk but too small for a single buggy let alone a double pram which I have. I would encourage all places to separate disabled toilets from baby changing facilities and ensure baby changing also has toilet in it for parents to use.
A.
Nice little park. Loads of open space and if you're into it, a decent number of fishing pegs. Parking can be a pain, but that will only limit numbers of visitors increasing the available free space.
H. K.
Always enjoy the lake, birds, wild area, bird hides A good cafe, and a Beefeater are on or nearby. A large park space for all.
W. B.
One of our favourite places to walk the pooch, gorgeous scenery and never too busy to worry about your dog off lead
M. C.
Wonderful park with a large lake. Brilliant for dog walkers, bird spotters, walkers and anyone who likes the outdoors. Also has a lovely cafe with lots of outdoor seating. For older children (5 to 10 years old) there is a outdoor activity centre that looks challenging. Basically it has something for everyone. Would definitely recommend.
T. M.
A Fantastic day out on our boat.Very friendly people here
J. W.
Great place during day. Lovely views in evenings, but a bit of flying insects.
K. W.
Lovely place for a walk and the cafe does lovely ice cream :).
P. H.
Nice place to for walks. Cafe is nice and reasonably priced and free parking. The play area is in need for some TLC and especially the climbing frame.
M. B.
Lovely place cant complain. Every one should go and explore. Plenty of wildlife to be seen
N. C.
Brilliant place to walk round on a sunny autumn day
P. T.
Nice walk around after breakfast. Saw a Swanson it's next of eggs. Lots of birds about. Very pleasant walk.
M. S.
Such a beautiful and quiet evening stroll around the lake, always good for a calm relaxing bike ride and a family day out, see lovely animals and just sit down somewhere and enjoy the beauty of the world
س.
Lovely place to take the kids, go for a walk or even have a lovely picnic.
E. P.
Nice green place to go for a walk.
S. S.
A great place to visit and walk once you get away from the car park and cafe area. Good cake and tea however. We only managed one walk through the Finger Lakes and along the river.
Saw finches, long tailed tots, robins, ducks, mute swans, grebes etc. But best of all two kingfishers and a weasel.
Also impressed that the car park is free! Well worth a visit as lots to see.
M. L.
Brilliant dog walk and it's amazing at sunset
S. J.
This is a delightful place to walk and enjoy the countryside, lovely coffee shop to
T. B.
What a great bike ride, its a must
L. R.
This is a gem of a place and well worth visiting. There is a lake(s) and wooded areas with paths meandering throughout. It's on one level so ideal for gentle walks and wheelchair friendly. There are some well appointed children's play area both for small and older youngsters. There are some open areas for ball games with seats dotted about. There is a cafe although we haven't used that yet. There is a charge for the carpark that you could avoid if you park down the road and walk in. I'm sure the parking helps support the running costs so I'd use that especially if you are there for a few hrs. It has a stream denoting much of its boundary with open countryside beyond so a lovely setting. Lovely staff here too.
D. K.
Beautiful place to visit in a sunny day. the only put off is toilets close at 5 pm.
J. W.
A fab place to walk the dog, go for a run or take the children. They have a pretty cool park with a zip wire and lovely wooden climbing frame. The labyrinth needs some work.
K. M.
A lovely walk round the lake and a paddle with the ducks. It was a little busy but everyone polite and kept appropriate distance
A. s.
This place is lovely. Great walks all around the main lake that are decent paths for wheelchairs and push chairs alike. Dogs can be walked on these paths but must be on a lead. The best bit for dogs is the huge green space and all along the river. You can have a great walk along there. Met some really friendly people there too. There is a pub and a cafe on site too. I didn't go in any of these. Highly recommend this spot.
r. g.
Great open space to wander and explore footpaths through woods and meadows

J. S.
One of the most picturesque parts of Bedford, great for a walk if you like wildlife, lake breezes and views.
P. C.
Had a nice meal with my family ☺️ the staff were very helpful.
B. W.
Nice walking around the country park
C. M.
Really lovely but people let there kids run wild in the bird feeding area
N. k.
A wonderful country park centred around a large lake with smaller lakes, streams and the marina.
This site offer ample enjoyment for bird watching, walking, running, cycling, watersports, dog walking and fishing within it's 300 acre limits.
There are public restrooms available and a small cafe with views over the lake.
Adjacent to the park is a premier Inn and a beefeater restaurant with bar and beer garden.
Portions of the lake are closed during winter months and paths can flood in heavy rains
T. T.
Lovely park with a kids area and cafe...plenty of space for dog walking too
B. K.
Really nice park, pretty clean, not very busy, has parking and a little cafe, really lovely views and the ducks and geese really come and say hello in their droves hehe
H. H.
This place is lovely to walk around. Nice and quiet with a lot of people running walking around the lake.
Can’t wait to return in the summer. I’ll get some photos then

Not much there actually. I hired a day boat.. in one hour I have seen all from the river. The area you can go was really small. Not much to do there.
C. L.
Nice for a walk 🚶♂️
A. P.
Beautiful scenery and a lovely place to take the family
A. R.
Had a great walk round on a brisk fresh day with our family loads of wildlife and a little park which has a zip wire a slide and climbing equipment. There's also a little cafe but we didn't go in but was very busy so it must be good.
G. T.
Lovely park
N. M.
A great place to see local wildlife, the lake attracts a variety of water birds. The path around the lake is pushchair friendly and there are lots of smaller trails around the lake which can be explored on foot. There is a small playpark hidden close to the cafe but it is not really suitable for small children.
J. J.
Nice lake ran my mud race for life there 2yrs ago and this year aswell
R. L.
Beautiful lake with lots of other areas to explore around it
M. J. R.
We love this place. Great area for a lovely walk. It can get quite busy on a hot summers day however whilst the kids are at school it's lovely and peaceful and a great place to see some wildlife
S. B. (. A.
Beautiful lake and parkland, lots of wildlife and things to see.
K. B.
Lovely place for a walk and some fresh air. Nice cafe if you want a ‘pit-stop’ coffee or tea. Nice to walk by the water and watch the wildlife.
S. C.
Beautiful! Great or walking, cycling, families, picnics and enjoying the great outdoors
S. M. (.
Free car park, ducks, benches.. Perfect place for walk, run or picnic even.
P. C.
Very nice location what number in st John Ireland way for sale
B. M.
Look out for blue algie in lake in summer months
Great place for a walk
S. R.
Nice place to walk and cafe was great and the service was very quick and efficient! Reason for the 4 stars is the play area for the children is a tad disappointing we had a 6 and 3 year old with us and the play equipment was too big for them to really use and wasnt really sturdy enough for us to try and help them round it. They do have a slide in the park as well so the kids went down that but the play park could do with a bit of an update with equipment for younger users.
s. s.
Nice walks with plenty of wildlife
P. A.
It's lovely place for a walk in Bedford
K. C.
Great foe fishing tho not caught anything yet lol.
L. M. R.
Love it great place to be, great fir dogs and wildlife don't seem bothered by the dogs
P. C.
Only stopped for a look as staying nearby. But looks nice with good walks
M. B.
Lovely local place to get some fresh air and have a walk around. We were lucky enough to see ducklings and goslings, as well as lots of local dogs! Only downside was the amount of flies and midges around, which did affect our experience.
E. H.
Great walk and I love the layout of the lake surrounding areas. Will visit again for sure
s. j.
Such a lovely area! Walking the dog around the lake is peaceful and beautiful! Included is a park and a maze for the children too! Also a cafe and ice cream van plus and restaurant on site too which are added bonuses!
D. G.
Good open space, brilliant for running and dog walking. Flat concrete path all around the water so it's wheelchair accessible as well.
J. H.
There are plenty of nice walks here. A wide variety of birds can be seen on the lake. It is often busy and can be quite crowded when the weather is good.
R. C.
Lovely area for walks. Great cafe and restaurant on site. Large car park.
G. J.
Great place for kids.
c. g.
A super place to spend a few hours. Children will love it, feeding the ducks and swans (not bread please). Good underfoot, firm paths and disabled friendly. 👍
C. R.
Beautiful place for a picnic. Great views and walks around lake. Ice cream from cafe well worth a try. We had a great day.
D. V.
Nice and quiet. Ideal for picnic
L. M.
Excellent town park with great walks for all abilities., but at this time of year make sure your boots are mud and waterproof.
S. B.
Lovely tea shop, yummy cake, beautiful nature all around.
D. M.
Great place for a family walk also has a fab children's outdoor play area.
N.
We walked the whole way round was a great walk
s. r.
What an idyllic place to be. Stunning sunset scenery wildlife in abundance. So many paths with acres of excellent dog walks.
D. S.
Bar doesn't open till 12 so no coffee even till then, limited staff, tables sticky food not as good, prices gone up a fair leap, but the main desk lady n man Caz very helpful and polite
K. _.
I love coming her to see the different wildlife and to go for a walk. I have come here multiple times and will continue to do so. Great place to go and anyone can come here whether you want to get some exercise, birdwatch or just get some fresh air. Highly recommended!
J. C.
Stunning place to visit for a dog walk or some fun at the water sports centre. Plenty of parking parking is free too. Beefeater pub right nextdoor and very close to Bedford Town. I had no idea this beautiful place was here.
D. B.
Lovely spot in the middle of town extending into the wider countryside. Particular locations can get busy but usually can avoid the crowds. The area usually well maintained, and the council can't be held accountable for other users.
S. C.
Only discovered this place the other day. It's simply amazing. Such a nice place for everyone. I ride around on my bike, mostly twice because it's never boring. Nice little area for dogs to swim too. Great wildlife and views. Perfect
I. C.
Lovely staff. Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Nice walk around the lake just outside. Lamentable WiFi connection, bazaar lack of bedside sockets (most charge their phones at night but want them within reach). Welcome bath. Slightly dated decor, but in good condition.
S. T.
Hi was a lovely stay the staff were rushed off there feet and definitely needed more staff the rooms were not ready when we arrived and had a hours wait but we were in no rush .The food was very nice but long waits but we didn't mind as the staff were fantastic just a shame that they didn't have enough staff especially with it being a bank holiday. We will definitely go and stay again.
T. M.
Kids love it here. Cycle, scotter and buggy friendly paths wide enough for everyone to walk together. Great kids play area and lots of doggies going for walks. Small beach at one end of the park allows dogs to have a swim. Often boats on the water to watch. Choice of cafe, picnic area or reasonably priced pub to eat. Parking free.
K. D.
Good space for walk or picnic.
T. S.
Wide open space, public toilets, with a lake. Quiet and peaceful
D. R.
Lovely place for walks, lots of rabbits 😊
C. 5.
Lovely peaceful walk, followed by lunch .
S. B.
Good place to walk, ride a pushbike, relax in natures arms, right next to a lake... love it.
S. B.
Lovely park to walk around in the summer. There’s plenty of open spaces suitable for picnics or gathering in groups, plus lots of seating around to relax and watch the world go by. The main lake is large and houses a lot of wildlife, with plenty of signs around explaining what can be seen. There’s also a couple of bird watching huts hidden in the bushes for real enthusiasts. Everywhere is kept clean which is brilliant. For somewhere with plenty of nature this is a great spot in the city, justifying the great number of people present in the summer.
j.
Nice walk, cycle or kayak etc
S. P.
Beautiful location.Very clean and tidy. Superb lake with lots of bird species. Highly recommended when the weather is good.
B.
We have been coming to this country park since I can remember what a great place to walk our dog, you have the option of walking around the lake, through all the fields or along the river we come atleast once a week and never get bored! Plenty of places for your dog to run around off lead or swim like ours likes to. There is a big free carpark and also a overflow carpark mostly open in summer months, cafe and ice-cream truck right near carpark and also free toilets there is also a beefeater resurant with a big garden and preimer Inn Hotel onsite. The country park is very popular and gets very busy on weekends there is also a cycle path route 51 which goes on for miles and is worth doing. I would recommend coming here anytime of year but definitely when the sun is out!
C. B.
Very pleasant park to walk in. Some dog owners fail to keep their pets on a lead which is a shame. The café on site is a bit over priced especially snacks and cakes. I suggest you bring your own.
R. M.
Priory Country Park is lovely to stroll around with your dog or just on your own, whether it's Summer, Autumn or Winter plus you can get a coffee at the parks cafe.
H. M.
Lovely walks by the lake and a stop off at the Beefeater for lunch. There are also drinks and food at the visitor centre. Nice to be out getting exercise, there are seats by the lake if you need to rest or just take in the view.
B. P.
Lovely place to walk round
P. S.
Great place to relax on the water.
R. D. (.
Absolutely love this place ,great scenery, lovely walks, nice people too. Well worth a visit anytime of the year try it.
M. B.
There is something for everyone to enjoy - walks, wildlife, playground, cafe all excellent.
L. G.
Lovely walk around the lake. Good for all abilities. Even a nature a walk for next time.
S. W.
First time there. Great energy down there. There's a perfect place for dogs/kids/people to swim. Music was playing and kids were playing in the water with the dogs, it was so lovely! Would definitely recommend. Was absolutely packed though
J. W.
Lovely walk around the lake, very clean and tidy, the park area could do with a abit more child friendly things to do, love the natural wood aspect of it but could do with some swings, not really aimed for little ones
B. N.
Very pleasant place, perfect for breaking away from a busy city life
P. D.
Great place to stay, very scenic lake for an early morning walk.
K. I.
Beautiful spot in Bedford. Good parking and regardless of the weather, a beautiful picturesque setting
A. J.
Nice place to walk around and relax. Also good for dogs to walk around and they can swim in the river water. Nice greenery.
D. D.
Easy walking around the lake however, some paths can become flooded after heavy rain making some areas too deep unless you're wearing wellies or gortex boots.
The route is very flat (wheelchair and buggy friendly) winged and 4 legged creatures abound and a lakeside café which is Covid friendly (limited numbers inside and take away only). Free car parks at the north entrance.
Very pleasant experience, especially in the sunshine anytime of the year 😎
G. S.
Highly recommended place. Very good facility in a good location.Ideal for a walk or cycle - well linked to the local networks so there are walks/cycles to suit everyone. A lovely piece of countryside very near the town centre. Excellent spot to enjoy the local wildlife and the lakes. Easy access and free parking available. I like this place. Don't know this area? Go and discover...
I. T.
Beautiful walk around the lake and plenty of puddles to splash in after rain!
A. P.
Beautiful surroundings and also safe. Lovely lake, nice cafe
J. A.
Having lived around Bedford for over 40 years I was amazed to find this area was as vast as it was accessible. Lots of free parking, great wide open spaces to meet with friends or just sunbathe. A cefetiria close by for grabbing a coffee, ice cream or something else.
B. R.
Nice place to walk, or just sit and relax. Plenty of space and parking.
M. H.
It is nice place for walking and riding bike. There is a nice play ground for children.
j. b.
I always enjoy a walk around the lake seeing all the wildlife and then as a reward a nice coffee or cuppa tea and cake at the cafe
D. W.
A good place to walk and you can pop into the beefeater for refreshment after walking around the lake.
r. b.
Nice relaxing place with some nice walks, good place to take the kids. Even put a little gym in the park area
T. H.
Walk around the lake is 5000 paces. Going is good (mainly gravel). Walk is largely through trees with views of the lake and the boats. The coffee shop is barista, but not that great.
J. K.
Lovely small-scale country park around a water sports lake. A tranquil walk can be had watching people learning to windsurf. Small cafe and children's play area too, and a Beefeater within a 5 minute stroll.
E. R.
Wonderful walk with a lovely little cafe and park. The dog owners are responsible and never leave mess behind. Great little park. The climbing frame is designed for older kids. Also a little wooded area with little wooden dens.
M. O.
Beautiful park with lake, is very large park. Some wildlife, great for families, dog walking. Fishing areas on site too. Cafe and toilets on site and plenty of amenities nearby with a pub and beefeater very close by. Large car park on site which is free too which is great. Is just a really great place to visit.
A. H.
Lovely park, always kept clean in spite of so many dirty visitors who leave much rubbish and many who leave their dogs to foul without cleaning it up, pretending not to notice because they're running or walking ahead of the dogs. Always worth a visit. Lovely wildlife park.
b. p.
Lovely park well worth a visit, walk round and then stop off at the pub for a refresher.
S.
Moved to the area December '20, using park for daily dog walks. Very muddy when you leave the path; limited number of walks on tarmac surfaces. I like paths near river and locks - Whole area subject to extensive rain and flood water this winter
M. T.
Lovely place to walk with family
n. y.
Beautiful spot to walk your dog
t. m.
Great spot. Would recommend 👌
L. I.
Lovely walks, plenty of woods and paths to enjoy.
Nice duck feeding area and play park for the children.
N. H.
There are so many different trails to follow here that me and my dogs never get fed up. From here you can also access other areas of beauty and interest. The area is well maintained. Sadly some people still drop litter or pile it up next to overflowing bins rather than take it home! A little concerned by the new trend of 'magnet fishing'...the stuff does not belong in the river neither does it need to be dumped on the banks! If you pull it out you dispose of it!!
P. M.
It is both interesting, and easy to access. Plenty for kids to get lost in and adults to walk, smooch, or just get to know each other whilst enjoying the views.
It's the park in Bedford that I like the most!
Re-visited December 2018, and it ws CLEAN! bridges over stream without any litter; other good parks and walks seem to gather at least a little litter at bridges over streams I find.
Re re-visited Xmas 2021.Watched the birds, followed the paths, saw the views - calming. 👍🏽
M. C.
This is one of our local parks and I feel very privileged to have it so close to home. There is a coffee shop in the park and a carvery nearby. A children's play area, and even a beach of sorts where you can usually find dogs and kids paddling around. The yacht club has plenty going on and there are fishing spots when it's in season. Altogether a very pleasant place with an abundance of free parking.
O. M.
Very nice walk, good free car park and a very nice cafe with internal and external seating.
P. H.
Lovely walks alongside lake and river, good facilities, pub/restaurant and nice little cafe with good reasonably priced food, clean toilets. Plenty of free parking
e. a.
Nice day was
E. C.
A beautiful place for a pleasant lakeside walk (or maybe a spot of sailing). There's a well stocked cafe too.
N. H.
Went for a walk around here two weeks ago, decent leg stretch, & you can go off to various locations from here following the footpaths. My real problem was at this time the public toilets toilets were not open, there was a cafe adjoined to them selling drinks, & ice cream, but no facilities, that to me should have been a major consideration, the pub itself was not open at the time either.
d. g.
Great place for a stroll alone or with family.spacious can you your bike.nice lake eating area benches toilets.food pub right next door also.free parking.
D. R.
This is a well maintained place with lots of things to do including a play area and a nature trail. I really enjoy walking my dog here and she enjoys swimming in the lake, there is a small beach type area where the dogs can easily get in and out
c. k.
Lovely park with lots of routes to walk and nice views around the lake. Can get quite busy on sunny days tho.
J. S.
Lovely walk with or without dogs. Wouldn't recommend to walk here if you aren't keen on dogs as there are so many up there! Nice areas to watch the birds and wildlife from. Looking forward to coming back in the spring and summer.
K. B.
A lovely place to walk very popular with dog walkers. Also very popular with joggers and cyclists. Has benches at various points so you can sit and take in the view. A nice picnic area and also a little cafe and a beefeater. There are platforms available for fishing for those that do at the appropriate time of year.
M. S.
Good place for a relaxing walk.
T. B.
Great park to walk the dog and/ bird watch. Often see deer and foxes early in the morning. It is possible to walk for two hours without repeating your steps. Wildlife friendly park with lots of trees and flowers.
G. G.
Always beautiful and worth going to. Xxx
C. O.
A really lovely place to go for a stroll, it can be busy quite busy at the weekends obviously but still a great place to unwind, grab a coffee and watch the wildlife swimming past on the lake.
E. N.
Me and my family went for a little walk and it was fun and we got a lot of very pretty pictures
O. O.
Yes I was there for a walk and was quite amazing.
I. G.
Lovely and nice here-every time!
r. b.
Enjoyed walking very nice weather
S. L.
Fab area to get some fresh air & to explore. Take a picnic or treat yourself to tea & cake in the cafe. Also has a loo that is open! My first visit & I will return ...
E.
Interesting and varied walks are available here. Good bit of fishing to be had. Interesting for bird watchers there are plenty of swims and a hide should you wish. Boating/sailing is available. Beefeater Pub and a cafe are nice. Watch that blue-green algae.
S. F.
The park is beautiful and there are nice walking trails that are easy enough for anyone to do. There are lots of activities on the lake and lots of opportunities for taking landscape photos. There are places to eat lunch and a Premier Inn hotel on site but don't expect much more than a place to put your head down.
P. M.
Delightful park for walking dogs on our first visit. Seems to be many water based activities, assault course, play area and nice café. Toilets were out of action and being upgraded. The temporary toilets were disgusting, but it was fantastic weather and many visitors. The car park is free.
T. M.
Great experience 👍done the half marathon beautiful scenery will go back some day for a weekend break and a walk 🚶♂️and enjoy it more it's worth a hike 🚶♀️
R. H.
Lovely place. Good walks. Quite a lot of dog poo along the grass. Toilets could do with update. When this park was under construction I actually worked on the site so it was nice to see it again..I have not been in shop or cafe so cannot give you an idea.
B. C.
Such a lovely walk, sadly my partner didn't warn me it was mostly muddy and waterlogged paths... you'll enjoy this walk so much more in boots.
C. S.
Delightful went to feed the ducks it was beautiful scenery even if we did get chased by geese haha
A. P.
Really lovely and we'll maintained. Brought the dogs for a walk and they loved it. In and out of the water and plenty of safe fields and woodland paths to use. Definitely recommend and will be returning often.
D. R.
Beautiful place. Cafe had lovely food, though pricey and not a very warm welcome.
S. W.
Went to feed the ducks was lovely but they started to chase us. My daughter loves feeding the ducks
H. S.
Such a nice place for a stroll. The play park isn't great for younger kids
D. W.
Lovely place for a short walk
m. J.
Lovely place to walk, run, just sit and watch the world go by
H. W.
We have regular very enjoyable walks and have seen a kingfisher otter mole grass snake cuckoo herons very close by. A hub of wildlife. Great for kids also for riding bikes and designated area for feeding ducks.
J. B.
The staff in the cafe were friendly and polite. The food was of a gt standard.
S. W.
Lots of different walks, not too muddy on the footpaths. (January)
E. P.
The park is kept clean and maintained. I felt that it made me happy and it's enjoyable to visit. Best I've ever seen it so far
J. M.
Lovely place to visit, you can walk round the lake, go boating, paddle boarding and feed the ducks, swans and geese
B. S.
Great place to take the kids. There is a nice playground with a large slide and a zip wire. The walk around the main lake is nice, but make sure you go around the finger lakes too - much prettier.
B. H.
Beautiful country park, great for dog walkers and amusing small children with a nice pub and cafe nearby.
N. C.
Lovely place for kids and adults alike, great for dog walkers too. Parking is also free which is a bonus!
I. P.
Lovely day out at the priory park. Great walk around the park and marina and you can get some food and drink at the cafe there or the Beefeater next door
S. O.
A great place for a leisurely walk, the only letdown is owners NOT clearing up their dogs mess! Lots of space for children to run around. A drink at the pub finishes off a lovely afternoon.
D. C.
Nice sunset over the lake
L. D.
Really enjoyed our bike ride, playground is good, food and drinks and ice cream available too. Sorry think the ice cream too expensive. Went to London this week to a tourist attraction and it was cheaper. Ridiculous! Super place and well worth a visit 😁
R. J.
It was very nice... peaceful and relaxing... staff at the Beefeather we're really good and the food was nice too... would go again.
N. C.
Free, play area is large and clean, fenced off so no dogs. Although four legged friends are welcome in the rest of the park. Took our family (including 9 and 4 year olds about 30 mins to walk around the entire lake. Just enough time to work up an appetite for our lunch reservation at the Beefeater on site.
S. 1.
I just love it.
Good memories in it, good place to walk in, whether with dog, partner or #Ingress.
Even saw some people swimming in the lake, but to be honest there were far more dogs.
Would suggest to people to go there too, but some said it was just ok.
Nevertheless, I say it was great.
E. G.
Nice Park for a walk around a big lake.
There's a small cafe and a Beefeater around.
C. T.
Nice walk around and a cafe to stop at after or even the beefeater 5 minutes to grab a nice beer on a hot sunny day !
L. S.
Lovely place to stop to break up our journey from Surrey to Norfolk with the kids aged 9 and 6 and newborn twins. Used the toilets and cafe, walked along the lake to the playground. Found it using aerial view, it's near the labyrinth. We had to park in beefeater and walk across as had bikes on the roof. Couldn't see any signs that it wasn't okay and the walk to the park was fine as we'd been sitting in the car for 3 hrs! Cafe had run out of ice cream which was a shame but we survived!
J.
Great walk, especially now they have tarmacked the whole path around the lake.
C. L.
Large lake and a series of smaller ones you can walk around. Part runs next to river great ouze. A ranger station shows some of local nature you can see. Cafe and beefeater on site. Car park and overflow car parking
N. B.
Medium sized lake with lots of routes to walk. Great for a casual stroll with plenty of green space for the dog to run. Plenty of places to park too. This fella enjoyed it 🐶
p. p.
Could be very nice, apart from the mess the geese create!
C. M.
Nice park, they could have more benches to sit on and I think it needs something more to make it a place you want to go to relax
K. R. J. W.
Nice & relaxing for all to enjoy! 1 major snag, it's not verry accessible for limited mobility users + not near local transportation services! So, if you've got a car, that's ideal, if not, then you might have a few issues! :O
a. r.
So many beautiful walks ,lovely cafe, fab lake always enjoy going there
E. A. E.
Really nice location. Me and my partner take our 3yr old to priory park and feed the ducks and go for walks. Really enjoyable place on a sunny day.
K. E.
Good food and great service. Not too busy. Bar service could have been a bit quicker, enjoyable evening.
L. O.
I love Priory, it’s a beautiful spot. Whilst it can get busy during peak times, it’s a lovely natural spot, with wildlife and nature all around. Pretty and peaceful, it’s a wonderful walking spot, plus the cafe and pub lend a couple of spots for a nice drink or meal.
J. W.
A very pleasant park to wander around. There's a good mixture of solid paths and nature paths. It's popular with dog walkers but off the beaten track there's plenty of birds to be seen - waterfowl and woodland birds. There's a play park for older children with a death slide and climbing apparatus.
I. D.
A nice park with clean lake and waterways. Very good a day in the nature. Plenty of fresh air, many widelife to observe, birds and water snakes at times.
I love this park.
J. G.
Great place to take the family. There are plenty of paths to go and explore, with the addition of a cafe and a park it is a safe bet!
K. O.
Lovely walk around the lake and snacks at the coffee shop, a bit pricey but still if you don't take your own food then you pay the price.
K. H.
Lovely place for a walk
C. B.
Lovely route to walk around the lake & free parking
i. B.
Special park a bit out from Bedford town but walking distance anyway easy to find following indications
Plenty of green space around, a jogging and a bike truck.
Many people keeping fit around here, walking dogs or just relaxing.
The lake is the best part of the park, sitting by the water looking and listening to the waves makes u forget all your probs !
Boat hire also available
Few places to pop in for a meal break, there's a restaurant and a cafe.
Everybody welcome
I think is closing by.. 10 p.m.?
Or when gets dark anyway
J. H.
Lovely paths and trails to walk/ cycle around, cafe, toilets and parking
j. p.
Lovely tranquil place to chill out
A. G.
Great walk round the lake
C. S.
Great for a short walk, especially for little ones due to paved route making it suitable for pushchairs, scooters, bikes and the like. Plenty of areas to adventure. Good for viewing birds. Small nice cafe and decent public toilets, plus a play area.
R. M.
Lovely place to walk the dog either through the fields or around the lake. Busy cafe there for coffee or lunch
M.
Great walk around the lake, give it a go, it's a lot shorter than it looks! Free parking is also provided, and the cafe has now reopened for takeaways only with social distancing in place.
M. M.
Nice coffee place there to be able to sit and look over the water. Good length circular walk around the lake and dogs are welcome off lead.
K. T.

Lovely for a walk. Easy to get a pushchair or wheelchair around. Very pretty.
M. H.
Lovely place with a big walk around the lake. Big free car park. Surrounded by woods. Nice scenic views of sun rise and sunsets. River rafting and overnight camping site.
D. P.
Centred on a lake, this country park has matured into a lovely setting for a Spring walk by water and meadows. Lots of birds to watch and listen to. Some nice bits of log sculpture too - I love the new 'three swan's bench. For wilder ways, follow signs to the finger lakes.
D. D.
A very pleasant walk around the lake.
Great opportunity to see the wildlife on and around the lake.
T. A.
A great location for walking and cycling, marred only by those who think it's okay to litter and leave their dogs' mess behind.
You can walk miles without seeing another soul, however beware of the weather as there is little shelter from the rain.
J. K.
Great little park.. Well laid out and easy to walk or cycle..
T. C.
Very pretty, good for dogs, bit of nature. Little cafe.
D. F.
Outside the tarmac paths, it a bit muddy and slippy. On better weather it would a nice walk

R. M.
Always a beautiful place for a doggy walk first thing in the morning.
Always a shame that the more lazy among us still don't know how to use a bin or even take it home with them 🙁.
S. G.
Lovely area for walking but looking very dry at the moment
M. W.
The staff were fantastic and the food equally so. Thank you for a lovely meal and we look forward to coming again soon.
s. r.
Lovely meal, great staff as usual. Food is always good, in past have been forgot once & occasionally haven't got exactly as menu description but have had discount to compensate tonight also had rewards vouchers & 50%off main meal voucher so for 4 of us fairly cheap meal but come here regularly even without vouchers

A. L.
Great place to take a walk with the dog big lake at the heart of it and canoe slalom to the side fun to watch u can stock to path so not to muddy but areas to get abit muddy under foot with all the leaves and stuff. Areas for the dog to go and take a swim and a coffe shop by the car park also u can go to the pub that's on the walk. A mixture of walkers dogs kids bikes etc so have to have ur wits about u but its friendly place with a good size car park however hight restrictions on high vehicles 4x4 are ok.

Me and my bird were mad for a bit of nosh so we booked a table at said restaurant.
We was shown to our table and given a menu each.
Our waitress was called Henrietta.
She told us to call her Henry, in support of people in transition, or who consider their sex neutral.
What we ordered was six pints of cider and an orange for the lady.
I then ordered a fat burger with a rack of ribs.
My bird had the fish, like attracts like?
We left after our bowl of ice cream was sent down our food pipes.
We proceeded to romantically walk home.
We made love when We got home.
It was a top day.
Will we return there again?
Do badgers brush their hair?
Much Love X

Great leisure park. Lots of possiblity to watch birds and other wild animals. Many ways to entertain children. But bring waterproof shoes on rainy days. The ways can get quite muddy. Also parking can be scarce at peak times.

Beautiful place to visit. Great cafe near the lake and Tempsford Stained Glass shop on site (which was the purpose of our visit). I wouldn't bother with the Beefeater as the service was appauling.
