Reviews of Gloucestershire Cricket
V. S.
I visited the cricket club to attend a business conference for the first time.
Everything was very well maintained and the staff were very attentive to our needs with coffee and a light lunch. Plenty of parking.
M. R.
Lovely evening watching Gloucestershire at the County Ground. We're very lucky to have such a great venue right in the heart of the community.
We got tickets via The Drapers Arms on Gloucester Road, so only £20 instead of £30.
E. B.
Not the prettiest ground in the world, and a long way short of fellow West Country cider drinking Somerset, but a decent second best option.
M. A.
First time visit ( Worcestershire supporter ) Royal London 1 day cup. Easy to find just off the A38. Plenty of parking in surrounding streets ( but I guess it's harder to find a space in the evening matches when residents are home ) there is some parking in the ground but I believe this is first come first served. staff all polite and friendly ( a credit to the club ) Covid regs adhered to and encouraged. Ticket allowed me to sit anywhere which was great to move around every few overs to get a different perspective. So be mindful on a sunny warm day there is not much cover so will need a hat. I'm not a fan of the festival portaloos but it is what it is. Food is pricey so always best to bring your own. Plenty of supermarkets on the A38 to pick up stuff. Love the murals dotted around the ground and a great atmosphere even with the lousy weather and best of all we ( Worcestershire ) won 😊
N. T.
Went to watch Eng v NZ Woman's Cricket match. My wife really enjoyed her day. Sham about the uncomfortable seating.
E. B.
Came here to watch a County game. Not crowded and looked like a newly furbished bar with a cafe in the corner. Very spacious and majority of staff friendly.
Lovely display of the community with the schools decorating letter's near where the residential flats were.
Would come back again
T. B.
This cricket ground in Bristol has a good choice of seating, refreshments and other facilities. On-site parking's available, but free street parking's also possible in adjacent streets. Ticket prices are good value and views of the cricket action are excellent from many positions.
One minor criticism: the pitches tend to be rather docile, thereby favouring batsmen rather than bowlers-but that's fine if your team wins the toss... and chooses to bat first!
M. B.
No water stations to fill up drinks. Good view of the action from all areas. A good ground with parking being another issue as in between houses. Friendly staff.
T. R.
Waao it's lovely and amazing . First time visiting with APA Roisin and Alizay Aliyan and that was great visit .Lush green ground with super cricket pitch and jamnesium. Best place for cricket lovers and trainers . Highly recommended so don't forget to visit☺️🙏💐.
R. D.
Was delivering, security was good and tight, staff were very helpful too, Covid safe and aware. Took a couple of pics of a game going on, on a glorious late April day, just lovely.. Thank you all, a nice place to be...
L. T.
Great venue, great selection of food and drink, live music in the bar. Just can't control the weather. So take a brolly as no covered seating. But definitely recommend a visit
C. B.
Ground looking really good with the new paintings, the world cup statue, the walk of legends & the roof terrace. Great to have stands named after Mark Alleyne & Jack Russell
P. W.
Always made to feel welcome, covid-19 protocols, straightforward and efficient, staff always happy to help you 🙂 every amenity catered for !! shame about the weather ☁️
M. T.
Great city centre ground, very lucky to be watching sport in these strange times. Staff helpful, easy to get to bars with quick service.
D. C.
Enjoyed a very nice morning, walking around the cricket ground, then into a question and answer session with a local sporting legend, whilst enjoying a free cup of coffee.
B. D.
Brilliant. Great sports ground and lovely social areas. This is an excellent resource for Bristol and Cricket
A. B.
No cash means no spend for me. Gloucestershire CCC discrimination. Is pounds and pence no longer the currentcy of Great Britain??!!! Andy Binks. Life Member of GCCC
J. B.
What a superb venue. Good selection of beer and food available throughout.
J. A.
Excellent Cricket ground
K. K. T.
Managing people is good . Nice cricket stadium to watch , no parking on-site . On street parking or have to park somewhere around 1-2miles and then walk .
Good stadium to watch cricket in sunny days . Food is expensive and ok . Have around 5-10 food and beverage stalls .
s. j.
Good ground and spacious gallery. Neat and tidy compound.
r. r.
It was a well maintained place and good facilities. The only drawback is the directions given by sat nav , but the venue is very good
k. b. (. o. t.
Good place but didn’t enjoy much as rain washed out the match.
M. c.
If I could give ten stars I would but then I like cricket and I do not have to queue for the bar! So my review may be a little bias.
M. B.
Beautiful ground to watch a Cricket.
C. J.
Great local club always good fun!
P. L.
Been here quite a few times over the past 45 years! Shame the old stand has been replaced by flats but the Pavilion is a vast improvement on the past in my view. Limited bar areas when the ground is full as it was for the T20 last night, but great to see a busy County Ground. Several temporary fast food outlets. Fairly easy to park a 5 minute walk away, but nearer to the ground it will be difficult to find a space on big match days.
M. D.
Great venue, great event, could do with a little better signage for which entrance if you're collecting tickets on the day maybe. But top class.
R. S.
England v west indies great day out loads of laughs Mexican wave as well magic
C. J.
Café serves excellent coffee. Lovely team working there.
-. B.
First visit had a great day ,helpful Marshall's.
Parking get there early and walk in or a taxi/bus. Close to the action permanent stands have good leg room temporary ones not so much. Great day.
I. F.
Sitting in the sun, watching top/first class one day county cricket with friends, beer at hand, is one of the joys of early summer. A rather quaint ground set amongst dense housing don't expect much, if any, parking so come by public transport. When in, staff are friendly, the bars and food outlets are not overpriced. All seating is uncovered so bring a hat and sunglasses. Good value tickets. Recommended.
A. B.
excellent place to watch a game of cricket. normally there is free parking at multiple place and then you get buses for the stadium. Park and ride facility.
J. M.
Great place to watch the cricket. Lots of food and drink stalls, these are a bit pricey but if you're hungry/thirsty and you didn't bring anything with you, then you have to bite the bullet. Remember to take sun cream and a hat as,if it's sunny, there is no cover over the seats. The park and ride to the ground is excellent and drops you within a few hundred yards of the ground. Great day out for all cricket lovers. 👍
M. A.
First time visiting ground and easy to find. Plenty of parking in the area. No cover on any of seat stands, so everyone had to run for cover. Plenty of portable toilets but would have liked some soap and water, not just sanitizer. Food and drinks provision were good. Would definitely visit again, and hope for better weather. 🌞
O. D.
Great venue in the City of Bristol, a bonus to watch top class cricket so near to home.
Although it is fully appreciated that there are restrictions on the number of spectators and these can fluctuate from match to match, the catering and the toilet facilities need much improvement.
D. G.
Family friendly, great fun watching the cricket, kids love getting on the big screen
K. b.
Great atmosphere. Very clean and organised. Food and drink prices very reasonable. A great place to go to watch some relaxing cricket.
T. I.
Lovely ground. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and managed to stay cheerful, despite the rain.
r.
Very well kept cricket ground Considering it is in the middle of an estate
B. B.
Massive fan of Gloucestershire Cricket Club. Me and my Dad and his father in law went to see the recent 2020 game against Hampshire at the County Ground. Unfortunately it was abandoned. Because of my disability, I struggle to walk, so have to sit down when I can. So we went under the gang way to stay away from the rain. My Dad found a space next to a elderly couple (we were respectful of the 2 metre rule). Just before I sat by the wall, the elderly bloke told me not to sit close to them, so we moved away. My Dad was angry with them! Why don't the club install seats connected to the wall for disabled fans like myself?
L. E.
A great day out until the Heavens opened and the natch was abandoned!!Very friendly welcoming staff all around the grounds, exceptiobally well organised. My one criticism...not nearly enough loos.
S. D.
Brilliant atmosphere and very easy to get too everybody is very helpful AMAZING Cornish pasties
r. c.
Love this stadium
Fully opened and surrounded by apartments
M. M.
Had a wonderful birthday celebration for my wife in the grace room watching WI vs. England. Very attentive staff and great environment!
A.
Small groune. Good for county cricket. I would not recommend this stadium for international cricket though.
K. B.
Wonderful venue, thoroughly enjoyed it
n. C.
Didn't like that much... I looks like just a field... Not a proper, proper professional ground basically...
N. C.
Quaint little place, went for an exhibition match. Of course, great beer.
P. R.
Always good fun, good location and atmosphere.
K. N.
Nice ground. I love it
S. D.
If you fancy the subdued nature of 4 day cricket or the razzmatazz of T20 the Brightside is the perfect place to watch it. Good pricing and decent food and drink options. Would highly recommend a visit if the opportunity arises
K. F.
Good day out to see Worcestershire win! Lovely ground. Would love to return when the museum is open. Good food and beer options.
T. G. (. G.
Pleasant county ground with appropriate numbers of facilities to the size. Fairly short boundaries but pitch usually has a little bit in it. All stands are uncovered so bring sunscreen and an umbrella
N. T.
Great atmosphere, and we won 👊
C. B.
Great but not enough toilets when capacity crowd
J. B.
Good views of the playing area from nearly every seat in the ground. Stewards are helpful. Food and drink prices (£9.60 for a steak cheeseburger and 500ml Diet Coke) can be high when an international is played there.
A. V.
Nice ground. More shaded seats would be nice
L. F.
Always a joy to watch cricket at this ground. Because it is compact there is always a good view!
T. T.
Great day at womens International cricket good facilities
M. B.
Seats, food and bars were good.
Toilets were shocking. Just not enough for the capacity crowd leading to huge huge huge queues.
I. R.
Good county ground with lots of facilities ( except for lots of parking ! ) Not the prettiest of cricket grounds, but effective.
J. H.
Thoroughly enjoyable day. Sun was shining. I got burnt (by the sun!) Good service from the food and drink vendors. Especially enjoyed Thatcher's Gold!
A. S.
Great place to watch cricket. Close to the action. Can get very busy for food
C. B.
Good set up during covid well spaced very clear what to do
S. D.
Very nice ground and expo hall
S. D.
Good day out. friendly and relaxed
d. h.
Had a recent makeover and is now looking better
l. j.
Went to see my hero Tom Jones. Fantastic night but the toilet facilities were very inadequate for the size of the venue and the size of the crowd unfortunately. Better organisation next time would be appropriate.
S. D.
Very easy and quick entry in to the ground with friendly and informed steward's happy to help you with any enquiry. The seats were very narrow for myself and my friend even though we are of normal build and the whole ground had a slight feeling of being incomplete, (the scaffold stands are the biggest contribution to this). The Brightside ground could really do with some investment, just firming up facilities like toilets, food and drink stands, seating, and the overall atmosphere, then it will be able to compete for international cricket matches and England tests.
D. H.
Cricket side is excellent but catering and staffing is a big disappointment , dirty mugs and scruffy areas show lack of visable management to ensure standards expected at International venue . Luckily nearby Gloucester road offer better options for refreshments.
D. B.
For a ground trying to be a first class Cricket venue for Internationals the toilet facilities are third class. Not good enough.
C. G.
First time to a cricket match - loved it
J. O.
Had everything you'd expect. Quick service at the bar aswell.
C. B.
I love the ground, but am prejudiced as I am a member.
N. C.
Two for the price of one
Review one: as a venue for watching circket it's got everything you need to enjoy a sunny day at the cricket, I could see issues if the heavens open due to the lack of shelter. On match days there are plenty of food options and drink but remember cricket and football grounds are never cheap. Overall they know how to hold the big events.
Review two: having been to a number of evening functions at the clubhouse (which looks like Darth Vader's helmet) the food and service is good but the dj we have always had is worse than bad. Get good entertainment for the evening combined with this venue and your onto a winner.
T. W.
Great day out even if you only have a passing interest in cricket. But the plastic seats are too uncomfortable for a full day. Can come be unbolted for the CC games to give more leg room ? Would improve attendance !
J. I.
It always rains, but it's a friendly little ground
M. W.
First time at the ground, general experience was very good, but the queues for the loos was ridiculous at times. Plenty of staff around to help. This was a 1 day international. England V Sri Lanka. Shame about the weather 🌧
D. T.
Reduced capacity due to Covid the seats are still desperately cramped. I am 6'3'', the match was only a 20-20 game but it was still impossible to sit in my seat. Food and drinks stalls were excellent. Bizarre to only have portaloos.
P. B.
Very organised and safe experience, great cricket
S. G.
Small but nice ground. No parking. No significant public transport links. Set in the middle of housing. Overall it seems that this place is more a nuisance to its neighbours than a benefit to the city.
M. D.
Lovely ground, friendly staff. Located in amongst houses which can be a bit congested! Def worth a visit.
M. W.
Great place for my son's golf club event
I. B.
Bristol County Ground !,
The Bristol County Ground, known for sponsorship reasons as The Brightside Ground, is a senior cricket venue in Bristol, England. It is in the district of Ashley Down. The ground is home to Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
D. R.
A little outdated but fantasticly close to the action.
D.
A great place for a concert (Tom Jones) he was fantastic we all had a great day/evening
G. R.
Was here for an award ceremony. Was a very good location for this with large seating area. Good beer. Easy to park outside. Will have to go and watch a cricket match soon.
S. A.
Very tidy and clean stadium easy to find well signposted friendly staff
J. P.
Great place to watch a good cricket match. Good facilities and great viewing. Always good refreshments on offer.
A. C.
A friendly atmosphere plenty to do even if you are r not into cricket. Actually cricket was good as well!!
T. A. M.
Lovely grounds great turf. But if you're going to hist a gig with Tom Jones, sort your toilets out £15 to use 'v.i.p toilets is a real rip off!
A. H.
It's multifunctional , I saw a keep fit class in one of the rooms wheelchair accessible with a lift up to the bar. Lots of free parking. The staff are friendly and helpful. You will probably need a sat nav to find it though!
N. C.
Nice ground with a good atmosphere. Good leg room and views from the stands.
S. R.
Loving the funky wall art
A. V.
Great stadium, especially on a hot day! Needs better food options though
R. H.
Great little ground. Obviously as I went during the world cup the refreshments were expensive but the seats are comfy for a sports ground. I was in the cheap seats and the views were still good.
T. R.
Great ground, lots of facilities, and a great result to round off the day. Thanks for the park and ride from Parkway Train Station. (Eng Vs Pak 14/05/19)
P. G.
Great ground. Plenty of atmosphere. Really enjoyed it !!!
A. H.
Dreadful weather!!!! This was are first match at Bristol since 2018 so were very keen to be there. The stewards were very friendly and helpful. The covid arrangements worked well, although it was so cold we retreated to sit in our car!
A. C.
A great ground, easy access, facilities are top notch, particularly suites overlooking the pitch. Hospitality is well run, food was yummy & the service was friendly. Well done Brightside
G. C.
The monsoon that wiped out half of the day aside, huge queues for the toilets (not enough on site) and Park & Ride arrangements left a 60 metre long queue standing in pouring rain for 35 minutes before 2 busses arrived together. Not a great day out for the money expended.
s. a.
Fantastic facilities all around the ground but remember don't forget the sun cream!
T. W.
I attended a property auction here. The venue is superb with ample on site parking. A number of drinks were not available through the bar as we were informed they were being saved for the following days cricket game which was a shame but the drinks we did have were decent value.
A. G.
The home if cricket in the South West of England, great food, cheap drinks. Can only recommend.
R. B.
Wonderful evening cricket and great value
r. w.
We do love cricket
M. A. T.
One of the venues for the world cup 2019
M. B.
Excellent food and staff. I would recommend the venue.
N. S.
Good cricket ground, not as well serviced as say Cardiff, less stalls etc but great to see the World Cup come to Bristol.
R. H.
Had a great time at women world cup. Very friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. Nice grounds and facilities.
K. L.
Good fun at the cricket, watching Glos in the T20 blast, lots of options for food and drink where the queues moved relatively quickly, a good family friendly atmosphere.
S. T. T.
Lovely ground with such close view of the pitch and action.
E. B. B.
Stunning venue and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
A. M.
Horrible ground , poor scoreboard
G. A.
If you fancy a blast , being entertained for the evening, the county ground s the place to be .Up the 'shire!!
M. Z. M.
Excellent ground ..Parking was an issue but cant blame them for this.
J. W.
Beautiful cricket ground
J. R.
Awesome view of the ground from new pals apartment. 🤩
B. W.
Fantastic day out, great family-friendly atmosphere bringing people together. Lots of space around the stands, with various food and drink shacks. £1 deposit for good quality plastic pint glasses, so much better than the flimsy rubbish ones you get at football and elsewhere. Leg room is tight in the seats for us long-legged folk! Friendly, well-organised staff.
G. C.
One of my favourite places to watch cricket, small ground that means you are close to the action, friendly, easy access to lager and latrines.
P. M.
Great, got to see England women beat the Aussies 😁. The queue to get in was pretty big, but they had prepared well in the bar area and there were no substantial queues when it came to getting drinks.
S. D.
Nice ground but too long to wait in line for drinks
R. H.
Very nice ground
K. H.
Good food, great atmosphere and fab staff.
C. K.
I am basing my rating/review on previous visits to this ground Pre-Covid.
I have found this ground to be a great venue, whether watching domestic 50 over cricket or International fixtures.
On my most recent visit for an England Women's ODI, I felt the facilities slightly lacking. Sat in the Mound Stand, there was only 1 food outlet and bar. The toilets were basic Portaloos instead of the cabins (for want of a better description) I have encountered on previous visits. Also, no litter bins within the 'arena' and no Stewards monitoring the mask policy.
I'm sure COVID19 played its part so i will not judge to harshley.
Thank you for even hosting the match I attended and I look forward to future fixtures
D. P.
great place and a great cricket game, even if the rain stopped almost half of it
k. p.
Amazing time
N. B.
Good facilities, friendly staff, a good evening had by all.
L. S.
Great place to watch all forms of cricket.
D. W.
Comfortable banked seats
T. S.
Was great watched last game in woman's ashes match
S. R.
Relatively small ground, bar and toilet facilities were good however due to the weather it was relatively quiet so it is hard to really assess the service.
T. P.
Great for cricket, seen some fantastic matches here.
H. h.
Lovely ground
And very cooperative member's
C. S.
Tom Jones concert-well organised but
could have used with help to enable traffic to get away from ground!!
F. M.
Good atmosphere, but there should a separate stand for alcoholics
n. w.
Great experience watching cricket here
R. P.
Great location for an excellent game of cricket
A. T.
Great local ground but shows international games
S. N.
Match was abdonded but had good fun Pak Vs Srilanka free parking near ground
E. G.
Decent set-up though their food was massively overpriced even by sports events standards
A. P.
beautiful ground. small one. do take sunscreen with you.
T. b.
Great atmosphere, just need to sort the toilets out
G. K. W.
Great cricket ground. Facilities are good
G. L.
Really enjoyed but need to keep an eye as boundary very close
C. K.
Enjoyable but shame about the rain
C. R.
Looks like it would be good for watching cricket
M. B.
Lovely ground. Good parking close by
O. G.
Such a relaxing place to either watch cricket or just to get away from it all for some peace and quiet , alternatively you can hire out conference rooms overlooking the cricket pitch or have a party or go the bs7 gym , hard to believe its in a busy city ...
J. H.
Went on a corporate day. Say some good cricket. Are some nice food. Had a good day out.
K. D.
Used facilities in off season for a training course. Lovely food provided, clean facilities but why was the air con on? Chilly.
B. A.
Sir Tom still has a wonderful voice but having paid £400 for a pair of gold hospitality tickets I left feeling a little disappointed by the experience
G. W.
Great place. Friendly & helpful staff
S. C.
Amazing stadium to enjoy live cricket match
m. h.
Lovely little ground, only problem is parking when the ground is full.
J. B.
Nice cricket ground, easy enough to get to.
p. s.
Lovely international cricket ground
A. G.
Ideal for the tom Jones occasion. Plenty of room and of course weather helped.
M. C.
Nice accomodation but not many bins or sanitising stations
T. A.
Bd vs srilanka
J. G.
Slow to gain entry for England vs WI odi, get there early for future games. Atmosphere poor from socialite type crowd..
E. M.
Good viewing of the cricket. Food facilities poor for the average punter compared to other grounds.
Y. C.
Saw an amazing Tom Jones in concert last Sat. Great ground but horrendous trying to get out and back to Gloucester Rd.
G. S.
Great atmosphere, easy to get to and close to the action
J. B.
Cosy little cricket ground. Due to its small size there isn't a bad seat in the house. Drinks prices weren't too bad given its a sports ground.
D. H.
Good facilities, if not a little over priced.
P. C.
Love the 20:20 cricket but food a bit pricey
A. D.
Very good, but not much car parking near by.
J.
Saw Tom Jones in concert here ,so couldn't really make much comment on the cricket ground it's self.
E. K.
Great atmosphere lively game ali scored englands quickest century ever. Lovely food and easy transport.
S. F.
Party venue 👍
M. M.
Good atmosphere. Well organised
S. R.
saw a T20 game here. Bar not overpriced and service was quick. They use reusable ‘glasses’ : £1 deposit so they’re trying to do their bit for the environment . And the fast food is good quality and not overpriced like some venues where thy have a captive audience! Good family atmosphere at the ground. #GoGlos !
M. K.
We been to this ground to watch the India Vs England T20 game. Overall it's a good experience. We spent 20 minutes to find a parking. Tips: Leave well early and get into the ground since lots of car were lined up on the narrow road and caused huge traffic jam.
S. B.
A fantastic day
So much fun, a tense match, but England ladies won a thrilling game
E. B.
Excellent facilities, Beer, pasties and cricket! 😊

s. s.

J. P.
Great fun watching England women in world cup
A. H.
Great ground.
n. s.
Great redevelopment, enjoyed the food in hospitality,
P.
Not the best place to hold a concert because it's in the middle of a residential area. I bet the locals hate it!
Pubs before the start of the event are rammed and queues are way too big.
Parking in the area is bad on a normal day so don't think you'll be parking near by unless you are disabled.
Actual venue is ok but lacks enough toilets and bars.
The toilets which were all portaloos, the queue time was about half an hour, if not longer.
After the event, the roads are gridlocked with taxis and disabled customers.
You will be better off walking away from the venue then hailing a taxi.
N. A.
Small stadium. Good experience
D. N. 1. F. P.
I attended Sir Tom Jones Concert Here, Just Think It's A Difficult Venue To Get To Seems You Walking Down Residential Roads.

So good to see the Cricket Club trying to keep up with the nation in up marketing their ground. Been coming here for 16 years and the transformation is amazing, the old county ground was full of character and history! The new re developed ground still holds that history but looks brilliant. The old Mullers orphanage behind the old mound stand looks over the ground and so good to see they kept all the benches :) love bench seats. One of the best grounds in the UK.
Parking is a problem when the ground is at capacity or near capacity and from a lot of experience I get the bus, cycle or park 10 minutes away and walk. The roads around the ground are pretty much wide enough for one car as cars park on both sides of the road and there is the odd place to pull into to let people past (very slow).
The buses from the centre are very regular and is quite any interesting bus journey via Stokes Croft and Gloucester Road.

This ground is very nice.
The County Ground was bought by WG Grace in 1889 (he lived nearby) and although it has had a somewhat troubled existence - more than once the county has considered leaving the ground - it remains the home of Gloucestershire, and is now even host to the occasional ODI. In 1919 the county sold the venue to Fry's, the confectionary firm, who brought in their own groundsman and, for a time, changed the name. In 1933 the county bought it back again. In 1976 they once again sold it, this time to Royal & Sun Alliance, buying it back in 2004.
The venue is not beautiful but it is steeped in cricket history, from the moment spectators enter via the Grace Gates, the role that legends such Gilbert Jessop and Wally Hammond have played is unmistakable. The ground is full of character, fringed by trees, with a solid Edwardian pavillion. The wicket is good, and can favour spinners. Difficult conditions can prevail, as when Gloucestershire played Middlesex here in 1909, when the game was completed in a single day, or when Tom Goddard took 17 wickets in a day here in 1939. In another Gloucestershire-Middlesex game in 1938, Jim Smith made the fastest uncontrived first-class fifty (11 minutes, 6 sixes, 2 fours). Grace scored a triple century here in 1896 against Sussex, a feat matched by Hammond in 1934 v Glamorgan.
The ground now acts as a general sports centre, with squash and tennis courts, and in winter the turf serves as the target for a golf driving range.

Initially known as Ashley Down Ground, it was bought in 1889 by W. G. Grace and has been home to Gloucestershire ever since. It was sold to local confectionery firm J. S. Fry & Sons and renamed Fry's Ground. The club bought the ground back in 1933 and it reverted to its original name. It was sold again in 1976, this time to Royal & Sun Alliance who renamed the ground the Phoenix County Ground for eight years before changing to The Royal & Sun Alliance County Ground until the ground was again bought by the club and took it up its current title.
The ground hosts One Day Internationals, usually one per year, with the addition of temporary seating to increase the ground's capacity. England are due to face India in 2018 and Pakistan in 2019 at the ground. In addition, four matches will be played at the ground as part of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
The ground has long boundaries in comparison to most county cricket clubs.
The former concrete roof over the public terraces, which has now been demolished, was formed from eight hyperbolic-paraboloid umbrellas each approximately 30 ft square, designed by T.H.B. Burrough in 1960.[1]

What spoils the once beautiful Cricket Ground is the looming block of flats that completely blight the Victorian ambience.
The actual club house has been restored in a sympathetic way, to keep the integrity of the Victorian tradition, but they obviously used a very different architect [in the brutalist style] for the overshadowing block of flats that looms large all around the side of the ground.
Grace would probably be spluttering into his beard.
A great shame.
