Reviews of Hengrove Park Leisure Centre
Had a great evening training here. Gym was great, had a good selection of weights, machine and cardio. Thereafter followed by a good swim. They had an offer called "Alive for 5" Basically full access for a £5. Great price and for this I will certainly return. Could not fault anything, walked out of there like I was carrying a pumpkin under each armpit 🎃
Good family fun. Better on sunny days. Good skate park for older kids.
I go there all the time and the gym has been improved new equipment
Superb Olympic sized pool, good spectator area too😜
My son and his friend spent over an hour here and had lots of fun.
go here everyday - best in the area and great location
Long wait for pool session, people with different bands or none at all coming in randomly when we had had to queue
Very good place to go for all the family loads of places to eat big park & play pip for the kids brilliant
Wife went to the women's only sessions. Absolutely loved it would recommend for anyone
Great leisure centre with disabled hoist for pool 👍👍👍
Great swimming pool and lots of others activity's
Safe space, great staff and back to the workouts
The staff have worked really hard to get and keep the place so clean and working in these strange times. The pool is now open as well as the gym and some classes, the app is great for pre-booking as required.
Has a good accessible pool for disabled people x
Really clean and good.
Love the pool here. Great staff too
Very good facilities and great swimming pool.
Change rooms need a clean, always smell. Pool is good.
Nice modern leisure centre but can be a bit log jammed on entry at certain times of the day.
Great 100m pool, separate kids pool of decent size
All good.. But just would like a Costa Cafe X staff are magnificent
Nice venue. Water is a few degrees colder than you would like
Best pool in Bristol, but can be quite busy.
Great sized pool with lots of light. I’ve tried the Bristol Uni pool & jubilee & this is my favourite by far. Good to have free parking too.
However it’s annoying to have such a big pool & still feel overcrowding in the lanes because most are shut. Seems to be a regular problem rather than one off.
I love using the sauna but it would be good if it could be properly fixed. It used to have more places to sit inside so is often overcrowded now. The remaining bench needs to be fixed as it’s about to collapse.
I appreciate funding may be difficult for staffing & repairs but it would be great if these issues could be improved.
Great park for all ages, really clean and with decent toilets.
Great place for day out with your kids. Lots of attractions!
Great fitness classes, gym, sauna and fab staff
Went with grandchildren but playground closed on a monday even in school holidays. They were very disappointed.
A great fitness centre with 2 pools, a gym and various classes.
Large pool with one section separated out for children and families, as well as a separate toddler pool.
Great for swimming. Huge pool area.
Great place to work out great equipment to use shame the staff never smile that often
Lots of activities with lots of space. Rooms and halls available for hire
Great sport facilities, cafe mediocre at best.
Lots of classes back on pools are open and Lots of space on the gym. Waiting for GP referral personal trainer hopefully after 21st June
One of the best swimming 🏊 pools in bristol uk
Cool!!!
Lovely big studio. New and great yoga class
Lovey family park lots to do and a nice place to have a picnic
Well equipped gym and good swimming pool
Love the table tennis here. Build more tables please
We had a very well organised meet.
Excellent facilities
Great 50m pool
Best swimming pool in the South West.
Great place to work teaching Boot camp, Spin and Personal Training.
Swim, dance, gym, sports whatever, properly supervised clean and good facilities. I go every weekend for swim. The reception staff are always friendly/helpful answering your queries. Changing rooms are sometimes a disappointment but, understandable with such rush. Cafe for an energy top-up or a nice coffee with seating. A very good workout place.
Great venue for a gala. Shame we live so far away.
Swimming pool was closed on numerous occasions due to holding galas
Fantastic Olympic sized modern pool.
One of the best local authority adventure playground in Bristol
Nice facilities. All spread out but not the easiest to get to all aspects.
Good clean centre. Plenty of choice and friendly service
Nice place to go lots of friendly people there or get fit
Wonderful and full of choices sport centre
Great Park for the kids, cinema and places to eat.
Great value good gym machines
Take my mum & nephew here swimming, more so in summer than winter. Pool is great, not too cold for little ones. They could be a bit more on the ball for cleanliness in the changing room, but i have seen worse
Nice place for kids to enjoy
Nice pool, clean and well kept
A well equipped and good quality gymnasium.
All around love it. Great for working out.
Forced to take swimming lessons their tho lol
Shame about the ladies' showers... other than that. It's pretty good.
Excellent 50m Olympic pool.
Very good gym and food services
The sauna it’s a bit dirty
Great park for kids, little and big
Brilliant swimming teachers that guide your child through the different stages at a reasonable price. Smaller, warmer training pool for younger swimmers. Check the timetable before attending to see if the pool is available to you. Accessible swimming available. Cleaners work hard to keep on top of the changing rooms but some visitors are inconsiderate about the mess they leave behind. Changing rooms can occasionally be on the colder side during winter months. Viewing gallery for both pools. Reasonably priced cafe and plenty of toilets. Sauna and steam room available but can get busy during peak times. Gym with helpful staff and climbing wall.
Amazing state of the art facility. Very clean.
Goid facilities but staff uniformed on sunday but friendly
Im a member so im there a few times a week
Lots of room for swimming with the littln
Local, accessible, clean with free parking
Love the badminton courts and swimming pool
Super kids pool, can get busy
Clean swimming pools and friendly staff
Great public leisure centre
Good range of gym equipment and classes
Helpful staff at the reception and very friendly PT at the gym. The gym is spacious, so you can have your privacy. A place I feel very comfortable to workout at.
Does a great job for leisure in the local community
It's alright to take the kids for a swim
Come here every other day, grate for swimming and a relax early morning
Very clean but water cold
Go their often and it is very spicy
Been a member since 2010.
best kids park in bristol
My grandson love to play here.
Brilliant. Can't say much more
one of the best pools in Bristol
Love the gym. But its seems that the policy for wearing masks has gone out the window. Feel like im the only one wearing one or bothered.
Pool not very warm
really relaxing and peaceful atmosphere
Very nice place and good staff.
Good place to play with RC planes!
Great atmosphere lovely people.
Really good climbing wall
Kids loved it and clean and tidy
First time will go again
Great gym and pool
Fun place for children and adults
My daughter has been enjoying her swimming classes for 2 years now. Classes are fab. However we had to change few instructors as in my opinion not all instructors are passionate about their job.
Very good gym
Nice clean fun to go
Offers everything. Can bit a bit crowded at times.
Nice leisure centre
Lovely, clean, staff helpful
Lovely community health centre
Very good
Very good
Great leisure centre
Great place for kids!
Recently went for a swim, it was very sparse of people, covid secure means dropping a coloured circle on the floor outside cubicle to let the staff know that somebody has been in there ,ready to clean. Water was freezing, found it hard going as it was so cold. I'm over 60, so temperature is more of an issue......showers were scolding, can't understand why every other shower cubicles was blocked off, seeing as water and soap wash off covid.wont be going back unless water is heated......
Good gym - lots of choice, including some funky new treadmills that offer a choice of virtual locations from around the globe.
The swimming pools can be a little cold, but are fairly popular.
As a member, you can get access to a sauna, steam room and (if it ever works) a jacuzzi.
Good park
Very good coffee
Good for lane swimmimg
Bristol best pool.
Staff are all friendly.
Great pool 🏊
Great park for children
Nice leisure center
Perfect family day
Great facility to train in
Pool is very good. Lanes big enough for me and my friend so we could chat and swim! Changing rooms are adequate and shower was clean. Old pound coins get a bit stuck but if you ask a member of staff they'll give it a little nudge, I'll do it myself from now on, and you get your pound back when you're done. I haven't used the gym but my friend does regularly and is very happy with it. Multi storey car park, you can validate your ticket at reception.
Facilities could be a lot cleaner.
Loaded gym...quality trainers
Great gym.
Decent, has it all.
Love clean centre.
Lovely swimming pool
Nice
Fantastic place for children
Bristol best pool.
Staff are all friendly.
Great facility! 50m pool, sports hall and gym. It has so much potential to do more though. Healthier cafe would improve it as well as putting on more classes.
Nice
Great facilities
Very good
Very good
Good park
Fantastic
Facilities could be a lot cleaner.
Modern leisure centre
Park is great!
Great facilities
Home of the Bristol Hurricanes basketball team! A good place for a game in their multi-use sports hall. The floor has overlapping markings for a range of sports, like most UK courts. Glass backboards and good rims. Wall mounted scoreboard with controller available from reception. Floor shot clocks (I think owned by Bristol Storm basketball club) typically used for national league games. The centre also has a nice pool and a cafe area. No team changing rooms is one slight drawback for national league basketball there.
Not very good
Very nice there
Water too cold
Modern
Excellent Facility
Good
Great for the kids
Pool freezing....
good
Swimming pool and gym
Swimming time was shortened by half due to lack of lifeguards in teaching pool. Cold water in some of the showers is common here. Jets in jacuzzi malfunction. Changing rooms are poorly maintained and far from clean. It is the shame potential of the object is not utilized well. Not very helpful or polite receptionist also discouraged me from featured visits. It is cheap for non members however you won't be very impressed by what you see or convinced to come back, not mentioning buying membership. For people who don't care about abovementioned cons, it is quite good place to go.
Sports
Great swimming
Amazing place
Great place
Friendly place
Great swimming pool 50m x 10 lanes. For £4
60 oz swim all day. Bar and place to relax. Great deal.
A great place to spend your free time at the gym or swimming pool. You can also relax in the sauna, choose between wet or dry.
The gym has new facilities with good machines, group activities and a heated pool as well as a sauna and jacuzzi.
Great park for children, swimming pool, gym, etc
i like it :)
The shower and storage cupboards could be in better condition :(
Was always very good but unimpressed by cleanliness of the pool recently (dirt and rubbish at the bottom thats been there for a while now) and showers that never have hot water. Opening up more of the pool for public swimming more often would go a long way too. All other facilities very good though from what I've seen
A great place to relax for the whole family
A child-friendly place.
Nice place to spend with children
Great!
Hengrove Park
Me and my sons swim here regularly for both lessons and leisure. Teaching staff are great and facilities good. I don't use the gym or fitness classes so unable to comment on those.
Great sized main pool. Learning pool is warmer and has a bottom that can be raised and lowered. Important to check times due sessions as often no public swim is available. Cafe is okay. Not used the gym. There is a crèche service too.
Brilliant leisure centre only ever use it for the health suite (steam room as a preference) but the last time I went which was on Wednesday the sauna wasn't very hot and the jacuzzi was cold which isn't bad if you are coming out of a steam room and want to cool down but jacuzzi's are usually hot.
Modern leisure centre with good facilities. It has two pools, the larger is usually split into two one side is in almost constant use for school lessons. The smaller is used for groups mostly. There is a Gym is fairly up to date facilities, some smallish halls and a cafe with a view of the smaller pool. The outside space is quite nice and an easy walk to Hengrove park. There is a cafe which is reasonably priced, with a good selection of drinks, cakes and sandwiches, while you are in the cafe you can watch the smaller pool so you can watch your child while they are doing lessons.
Staff are always happy to help. Facilities are best around. Everything you need all in one place.. 3 pools to choose from. Spacious gym area ensures your not waiting around for equipment. Easily best gym around
It's a nice place, I take my son there for his swimming lessons. My only gripe with the place is the fact that everyone parks in the disabled bays (without blue badges) and sometimes across two spaces, they really need to do something about it which is why I have deducted 2 stars.
Fabulous looking facilities, well maintained.
Just make sure you lock up your stuff in a locker rather than leaving it an unlocked locker. Some light fingered customers.
Not the centre's fault but just be wary.
Good to have a long course [50m] pool in Bristol.
There are upto 4 pools on site along with gym and classes.
Nice base but management is all over the place. They once asked me for feedback which I was eager to provide. I ticked the “do you want to hear from us” box... but nobody got in touch, neither did they act on my suggestions.
Hygiene in the main parts is alright but if you get to the locker rooms and health suite, it gets pretty grim.
Brand new facilities and 2 huge swimming pools
Excellent 50 metre pool, when fully open, and accessible pool, and good facilities with 25 metre and kids pool during the day. A bit on the pricey side, but Membership allows access to some good facilities. Nice Cafe.
They do NUS student discount. There always seems to be public lane swimming if you want to use the pool.
The gym gets very, very busy around 17:00 but is a good level if you time it right.
Friendly and helpful gym, membership, and front of house staff.
The changing facilities smelt like someone took a dump in the corner - ever corner! The pool however was great and not that busy. Inflatables out for my child to use and he loved it.
A wonderful place. Tried it once and now hooked ! Clean modern facilities. Efficient and friendly staff under competent management and all at a reasonable charge. Particularly like the gym, pool and health suite sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Easy to get to by either road or bus from central Bristol. Car park charge is refunded by a visit. Smart cafe available for light refreshments.
Amazing teaching staff! My 8 year old grandson had never had a swimming lesson in his life - he had his first lesson on Thursday and by Saturday he could swim and by Tuesday he could swim 2 lengths! Huge thanks to Dan and Tricia for making it all happen!
The staff are very kind, but happen to be a bit too lenient at times, The swimming, Gym and sports hall are all amazing but the people who go to Hengrove Leisure Centre are usually from less-respectable areas such as Knowle or Bath.
Good gym and great swimming pool! Only down side is parking a van at night time ! The specs are limited as cars think it’s ok to park in commercial vehicle spaces.
This place has the advantages of gym, fitness classes, sports facilities, sauna, steam room jacuzzi and swimming pool under one roof with ample free parking nearby.
Just renewed my membership and have often used the swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi.
The pool, gym and classes I can fully recommend.
One of the best facilities around, really modern amazing big place.
Excellent facility, good water and air quality at the pool. Lifeguards sensible and accommodating.
5* would be given if staff enforced the removal of shoes, or insistence of use of shoe covers in the changing area.
Best swimming pool in Bristol. You won't find a 50m pool like his anywhere else in the area. It's such a shame that the clientele don't really appreciate the facilities on offer. Often you will find children and teenagers riding their bikes in and out of the actual building. The table tennis table is often covered in Food and drink. Inside there is a little more order but even at he pool there are sometimes lads shouting and performing ape like mating rituals while lifeguards roll their eyes. It's usually safe enough to swim as apes don't swim very far and stick the the pool edges.
Absolutely filthy. Changing rooms has had the same dirty tissues hairbands and general dirt for the the last couple of weeks. Broken hooks in most cubicles. Mould in the showers. The car park was reported two weeks ago for the same litter in and around the car park and it's even worse today. Looks run down and unkempt. Not a good impression for a reasonably new facility
Brilliant located and my family enjoys it as there's a skate park and you can play basketball or football in a different section to the park, the park its self others alot of play area for children of all ages and lovely cafe with reasonable prices. The park has fully trained 1st aid office and toilets always clean
My knee feels so much better and my weight has gone down since the gym has been open I enjoy aqua classes too
I attend four days a week for the gym The equipment range is good but it's not very clean inside although the reception area etc is .
Great place to do your work out. Clean and organized. Good pool area with lifeguards on site. Free parking just outside with easy access.
The big inflatables are such good fun definitely do it again
The centre has a lot to offer, whether it's fitness gym, spin bikes, sports hall, dance studios, healthy living, cafe, social meetings, climbing wall, camp adventure, Olympic swimming pool, teaching pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, it really has everything you need to either get fitter or stay fit.
The facilities are good and staff friendly.
The only downside is the parents taking their children to swimming lessons. The vast majority are utterly clueless at following the one way system and have no idea about personal space.
The gym is not too big but it's also not too crowded so it's a great place where to workout, and they have mostly all the utilities.
The swimming pool is the main highlight for me.
Looks cool but all bookings is really online but lots to get involved in 👍
Fantastic facility, the gym is always clean and we'll equipped and staff are friendly and approachable and always on hand for guidance and help, the health suite is maintained well, the cafe serves great coffee and health snacks, also a well lit free carpark.
Good priced gym with decent facilities. Gets extremely busy weekend mornings for family swims and also gets quite dirty in changing rooms hence the 3-star review.
Great pool friendly staff cafe now back open
Only been the once with young grand-children and my daughter mother of children it was for them my treat different cinema different movie we had a great time and a lot of laughter and bonding time. staff were pleasant enough and it was one of the cheaper cinema's we've been to So decided to try again just myself and grand-children.. Lunch after.? Cant wait tickets bought to see Finding Dory. 26th Aug 16. 8th Sept going to Imax to see BFG. Pretty excited they are, to go and I love to see the wonder on their faces, and glorious time they are having..? Thank you Cineworld.....keep up the good prices an offers and reasonable prices on goodies. Although im sure more would com if prices on goodies were a little cheaper then a day or night at the movies will bring more people out of the home movie as its cheaper for a dvd and take away you need at least £50 these days fo go to cinema and buy popcorn and a drinlets face it its not as filling as a hot takeaways So nacho's are a choice but again not filling So you have to go get a take away afterwards. So put some thought into bringing this into the new age of kids and young adults So they can see how there parents enjoyed a night of fun in the cheaper cinema's of there day.make it relaxing while waiting for tickets with curvy sofa's Top up cokes soft drinks coffee's that people like these days lattes to macchiato's .and double shots of great roasted coffees. People can sit and wait till time is right or just sit an have latte talking over the movie great idea for first dates no pressure where to get together without worry of ho this person is to give second date as first impressions can go wrong this way its safe for a lady or young girl to take th m home. It could be way cinema movie a munch and a coffee an chat & good night or nice meet up in daytime ?? Many possibilities can bring your cinema to be the hip new place to talk about in a good way competition will follow but you can say u were the he first. Think hard on having more people in, as few when I've been b4 and I've heard rumours ? ? ........ Glad to say that to you hoping I've not been to forward or made you feel bad no harm intensional in my advice some times it helps from someone on the outside looking in. Many thanks
Penny

Beautiful swimming pool - there's always plenty of room for Lane swimming and the lanes don't get too full. Nice to have a sauna for after too.
Really good gym really good swimming pool I've been going here now for over 5 years and the staff are very friendly I really enjoy it very friendly and have a full-size Olympic sized swimming pool Health suite and it's very clean and tidy I would recommend this gym Hengrove Park Leisure Centre to anyone friends and family been coming here for over 5 years and I still enjoy it is always clean and always friendly staff to have a chat to lovely food lovely canteen and lovely people to meet everyday I really like to meet new friends each and every day
Really good gym, could do with more squat racks, there are only 2 currently. Staff are very friendly and helpful!
I go swimming 2 times a week it’s a lovely pool but when I go around 3.30pm I swim in the slow lane, as I am not a strong swimmer, but a lot of times there is kids jumping in and it puts you of swimming as the slow lane is soppose to be for slow swimmers and some of the livegards just lets them do it , there as been a lots of people complaining but not a lot as been done about it and some day there will be someone hurt, and I hope they will put a notice up and by the slow lane saying no diving and stop kids jumping in as I don’t want to concil my membership
The facilities are plentiful and well managed, Olympic swimming pool, steam rooms and sauna available. Opens early to get a cheeky swim or steam in before work
Love the place but the prices have gone up and are abit ridiculous
Best staff ever! thank you all for sorting out an indoor cricket match for us on such a rainy day. From the Touring Gregson cricket Club, Lancaster x
I liked going to baby bath time with my little one but I do found the water cold, so could only do ten minutes.
Always looks clean and tidy, gym is great - lots of different equipment. Id recommend Ryan as instructor.
Lots of activities with lots of space. Rooms and halls available for hire
Great facility, reasonably priced. Really good pool for kids' swimming classes
Has a good accessible pool for disabled people x
Amazing centre with great facilities, helpful staff and a fantastic range of activities. You get free parking up to 3 hours as well which makes it great value.
Visited for a training course. The facilities are fantastic, the whole place was really clean and the staff knowledgeable.
Have only ever used the centre for swimming so can't comment on the gym. Pool is clean as are the changing rooms. Our son enjoys swimming here at the family fun sessions, but the pool isn't particularly warm for little ones.
Great place, friendly, helpful staff. Well equipped gym as well ss steam room and sauna. 2 swimming pools including an olymoic size.
Always looks clean and tidy, gym is great - lots of different equipment. Id recommend Ryan as instructor.
The gym is great, swimming is not that good because most of the time only 2 to 3 lanes are open to public and is not good for 4 people to swim in one lane..
Looks very nice but we didn't actually go in, we were gromit hunting and needed the toilet. Cafe service was a little slow but nice food
Amazing and clean leisure centre, if a little dull! Good cafe though and close to hengrove play park which is great.
Amazing centre with great facilities, helpful staff and a fantastic range of activities. You get free parking up to 3 hours as well which makes it great value.
Very big lots of activities going on. Big swimming pool. Bit strong on the chlorine but bareable.
Great facility, reasonably priced. Really good pool for kids' swimming classes and great teachers.
Great Swimming pool, gym and classes. The showers are not great though and the booking system has a few issues
Visited for a training course. The facilities are fantastic, the whole place was really clean and the staff knowledgeable.
This is a good leisure centre, but it could be better!
They have plenty of events on here, so always check the timetables as this does mean the pools are closed - which isn't very good for the swim only membership.
It can get VERY busy here, and at times it is a struggle to get into the gym at the busiest times.
The changing rooms are of a good size, the staff are friendly and there are plenty of classes going on throughout the day.
There is a small cafe here, they are reasonably priced.
There are a few disabled bays out the front, but these do get filled very quickly, especially when there is an event on. There is also a large car park, with 3 hours free parking with a validated ticket inside the leisure centre.
Excellent venue for a swimming meet. Great facilities, very clean and lovely fresh water.
is ok not too bad but d heating room floor is kind of dirty i dont know why.
My visit. To this pool last Saturday. And was really happy clean and tidy staff helpfull as well
Even though everything looks perfect but the water is very cold for lessons as we never expect. That put me and my friend off.
Always clean but often busy, expensive too compared to 'The Gym' or PureGym etc
Membership moved to PureGym
Facilities are excellent but often difficult to get into the family swim sessions unless you arrive very early.
Very clean, fidy and relaxing centre to do exercises.
Great 50m swimming pool, always will run galas. Great asset for Bristol.
Really good gym, could do with more squat racks, there are only 2 currently. Staff are very friendly and helpful!
Amazing leisure centre to go, clean and spacious!
First time there, very good cafe, excellent pool for baby's
Great facilities, awesome pool. Customer service could be a little better
Fantastic leisure centre, pool can be made into 3 seperate pools.
Open early in the morning Stafford very friendly
Good facilities, good value for money. Only let down by the school parties trekking mud unto the changing room area.
Really good pool. We use the teaching pool as it's warmer than the international pool
Superb looking facilities, nice staff very helpful. They also have a creche thats GREAT
Wow amazing pools, very smelly changing rooms though, need to sorry the drains out
A well designed, clean and spacious leisure centre. But the cafe is a little odd.
Great pool, with a outstanding feature of a walk on pool cover
My son and daughter go swimming lessons here. Minnie is brilliant with my daughter, cafe needs to open back up soon hopefully.
