Reviews of Bute Park
A.
Wonderful to have such a lovely, lush green area in the town centre! Really nice park to visit, we took the water bus from Cardiff Bay which dropped us off at the park, it was great the only downside was there is a lot of litter in the water which is quite unpleasant and bad for the wildlife but the area was really pleasant.
S. B.
An oasis of calm and tranquility, loads of space a great coffee shop in the centre and opposite the millennium stadium entrance.
Not convinced I’d be 100% confident walking through there late at night, but a lovely and well maintained city park. 👍
D. N.
Great experience but certainly not cheap. It was like a Disney park with music using light shows worth a visit suitable for all walking abilities pretty much flat no steps accessible if you have walking difficulties. Some food stalls Yorkshire pudding wrap for £8 !!! Got a bit crowded at the end where everyone stops to take a few pictures

Christmas at Bute Park. If you have not been before you need to go.
A superb experience bringing all the festivities of Christmas together with a fantastic light experience.
Clean, tidy, enjoyable day / night out.
Family orientated, dogs welcome. It’s a great time and one of Cardiffs treasures.
If you were thinking of winter wonderland give it a miss and go here instead you will not be disappointed
B. D.
The Christmas Light show looks amazing. We walked round as 7 family members and a basset hound. We all got a little muddy, but not too bad. If you take part in the drinks stalls as you walk round, and the food stalls at the end, it's not a cheap night out, but the sights and atmosphere really make it a worthwhile experience.

Beautifully kept gardens surrounding Cardiff Castle. came here for a wander whilst my partner went for her health check. Helps when it's good weather but the scenery is wonderful and offers plenty of space for a walk or to spend time with the family or walk the doggo.
d. b.
Very lovely park right behind Cardiff castle. Many types of trees and flowers. Lots of entrance/exit from different sides of the park making it accessible. Lots of space to do sport, walk, run, picnic, BBQ.
D. H.
Christmas at Bute Park was great. Kids enjoyed the lights. Bit too busy around the food stalls which needed to be spread out a bit especially in this day and age!
Y.
Beautiful park located at the heart of Cardiff city centre. Free to public. Wide open spaces with plenty of outdoor gym facilities, wide paths for both cycling snd running. Lovely lush green trees and flower gardens. Water features throughout the park. Visitors centre nearby.
B. R.
So wonderful to have such a beautiful green space in the middle of Cardiff. Absolutely gorgeous.
D. L.
This is a stunningly beautiful park nestled in Cardiff city centre, the journey is akin to entering a different dimension like the world of Narnia, therapeutically otherworldly. During my three years of studies in Cardiff, I spent my weekends running the course here in preparation for marathons, also picnicking with colleagues. Lots of fond memories here.
A. M.
The entire walk was magical from start to finish, and it was fabulous to be able to enjoy it with my entire family... Honestly, if you get the chance to go, take it... You won't be disappointed...
C. B.
Amazing park. Great for a wander on a nice spring day.
B. W.
Very well kept park, flower borders, grassy areas, lots of trees and 2 cafés

Amazing park ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
To get rid of daily stress, it is the best place in the Cardiff City Centre.
B. (.
Fantastic Christmas light show. Great fun for the family. Beware the highly overpriced food and drink. £4 for a hot chocolate!
R. R.
I will definitely be booking this every year if we can. The moment we walked in through the tree lined lit avenue, I thought it was so magical. So many different features to see. My kids loved it and the roasting of marsh mallows is a must for your kiddies. We bought one and they even gave us two sticks and shared them out for my girls.
S. A.
Lovely park for a walk. Back of the castle to explore as well.
A. C.
One of my favorite places in Cardiff! Highly recommend going on walks around the park
B. M.
We went to see the Dinosaurs today before they move on and it was a brilliant use of the Park. Nice to see people enjoying the outdoors and respecting the area, keeping it clean and tidy for others.
I. S.
For a good walk or cycling, friendly to all ages as it is mostly flat, head to Bute Park. Stunning gardens and wood, with ancient trees and delightful flowers.
k. s.
Christmas lights at bute Park was amazing we totally enjoyed it and thanks to all the event organisers as it must have taken months to put all those fantastic lights up , we will definitely go again and it's highly recommended.
P. L.
Was beautiful and really enjoyed it with my 9 year old. Was a bit chaotic at times as everyone wanted pictures lol and didn't think it would be as busy as it was if I'm honest. £8 for a German sausage and £6 for Churros. £5 a hot chocolate, so make sure you either take your own or have money, it's all card and no cash.
E. O.
Serene park perfect for a break from the chaos of the city centre.
R. D.
Absolutely stunning park and so big. Very well kept with plenty of things to do. A definite recommend to any tourist visiting

Jurassic experience in Bute Park!
A brilliant setting for any dino mad child!
The dinos are positioned in various different areas of the park, T Mack loved it!
A bit expensive, but to see his face in front of a scale T rex and Stegosaurus, worth it!
j. s.
Get here from Cardiff bay on the passenger ferry (£6) or visit as part of the day looking round Cardiff Castle. The magnolias were magnificent in mid March.
E. M.
This park is simply stunning! I could hours walking through the greens and along the Taff river.

Amazing absolutely stunning scenery lots to explore even had a jurassic dinosaurs event on with huge moving sound making dinosaurs 🦕 with lots of information on each 1. Really enjoyed our day. We also went today to get the boat from the park to mermaids Quay beautiful insightful trip
M. T.
Great park to visit and have a picnic. You can see the back of the castle from here. The park is very long, so it's a great cycling route! You can get here by taking an aquabus from Mermaid Quay. Really nice experience.
G. C.
Lots of flowers and trees great open space 2 cafes lots of hidden sculptures and right in the centre of the city.
Y. T.
Lovely place , we had a great time there, the river boat trip was absolutely fantastic! So much to see and to do !
M. C.
Lovely place for walking and relax , nice green space in the middle of the Capital, beautiful arboretum.
M. D.
It's really large and beautiful, lots of paths to walk on, grass to play on and benches to sit on, plus some nice places to get a drink and a snack in. It goes all the way along the river and hosts a large variety of exotic tree species. Lovely for a walk, a run, or a bike ride, as well as for an afternoon with your children or dogs. Usually there are also various events going on, so you may catch a concert or a plant show, or a protest.
N. C.
A beautiful park, you can walk around the pathways or wander along the river path, each is lovely,.
P. B.
Great nighttime walk through the park following the festive light trail. Well laid out, lots of different zones to stop and look at, just have to take your time do you don't get stuck in a big queue. Great view of the castle also lit up, and there's good and drink spots along the way, as well as an area to sit and eat at the end of the walk. Took us just about 45 minutes end to end.
Z. W.
Lovely park. Shame it was windy and raining the whole day, but we still made the most of it. The park seemed lovely and some beautiful flowers were blooming! Would be amazing on a dry sunny day!
J. A.
Right behind Cardiff Castle and just a short walk from the city’s main high streets and civic centre, Bute Park is the green heart of the city.
Contains a superb tree collection, natural play features, a visitor centre, three cafes, and a wealth of horticulture and wildlife. A joy to explore at any time of year.
S. W.
Lovely experience. The Christmas lights were lovely.
B. S.
Amazing to feel like you're out in the countryside when in fact you're in the heart of the city!
A. S.
Children loved the dinosaurs. Big animated figures. Lots of different kinds. Food stalls, portable toilets,
K. S.
Amazing park, quiet time
B. N.
A wonderful green space in the heart of Cardiff. When I visited part of the park was zoned off for a animatronic dinosaur exhibit. There are a couple of cafes for those who want a coffee or ice-cream fix,
B. B.
Fresh air, open spaces, trees, water and dog friendly, what more can you possibly need on a sunny day....🥰
S.
I love this place and always have done. You go from the noisy streets into a tranquil park that stretches out around you. There are historical areas interspersed throughout with flower beds and the River Taff to gaze upon.
S.
Great night out, the Christmas light were the best ive seen,. 10/10
M. S.
Wow what a beautiful park to be found in the centre of a city. We came to Cardiff expecting to walk around the town and admire the architecture but not only that we got to experience a fantastic park well maintained and clean with a lovely vibe. We got very lucky with the weather so we're able to sit on a blanket on the grass eating ice-cream and drinking tea.
a. 3.
Lovely big park that runs alongside the Taff. You can walk all the way into Cardiff City centre. You come out at the castle.
Secret garden cafe and garden centre was lovely.
P. E.
It is such a lovely peaceful walk in the middle of the city centre. It is the lungs of Cardiff City Centre. The flowers will soon be showing in the wonderful gardens.
M. H.
A lovely place to visit and enjoy a great walk
A. R.
Such a lovely place to go sit in the sun or just for a lovely walk around the squirrels and the birds. Friendly squirrels too :) and people are nice and mind their own business but also friendly.
S. T.
Gorgeous park to sit and relax. Easy to get to from city center, riverside walk by the Taff and views of the castle.
A. B.
try forest bathing here, its safe with plenty of space and it has cafes for food and drink. if you sit near the river, or walk and smell the flowers and trees it helps with mental illness. inner city park, so you can go shop or whatever after x
D. G.
A lovely calm place except for the plodding joggers and pedal pushers; they all seem oblivious to the beauty of the place; you rarely get a smile but sometimes a grimace. Love the cafe by the big spreading tree and a good place to stop and watch the agony unfold around you.
J. L.
We are so fortunate to have this beautiful park in the city centre. So many different trees and shrubs. It really is a lovely place to walk and relax.
G. M.
This is an absolute oasis in the city. The arboretum right throughout the year is stunning. I cycled there today, it was clean and we'll kempt. The bonus is it's right in the city centre next to the iconic Cardiff castle.
M. E.
I ride my bike here all the time. It's so beautiful and close to the castle. Gorgeous trees and stunning flowers in the summer. A fantastic place to ride or walk.
T. F.
Bute Park is massive and has loads of space to get lost in. The river Taff flowers along a cycling path that goes all the way to brecon. In March there are cherry trees that blossom. There are loads of people that play sport and BBQ in the summer. The garden is always nice to walk through and there is a woods that looks great in the autumn.
M. K.
It’s bigggg and beautiful. You can take a ferry ride in river Taff to the Cardiff Bay from Bute Park.
H. D.
Brilliant park. Perfect day out with the family. Water taxi to Cardiff quick and fun.
We all enjoy. Will be back soon.
L.
Amazing park with a river passing through, huge place and excellent for children and adults. Best please to relax with nature.
M. B.
Stunning green space right in the heart of the city, well worth spending some time in - lovely walks, couple of nice cafes and access to boat trips
M. M.
It's always a lovely place for a walk, but in our case we were walking to watch My Chemical Romance so it was unbelievably awesome instead 🤘
K. T.
A wonderful park filled with an amazing array of amenities such as boat rides down the river a few tennis courts and lots of beautiful flowers and scenery a perfect way to send the afternoon.
Always worth a stop if you are in the area you really won't be disappointed
Z. T.
My first time going here since I've been in Cardiff and I don't know why I haven't been here before! Beautiful park with lots to see and do. Views of Cardiff Castle and the River Taff. We stopped off at Black Weir too! The pictures say it all!
J. R.
It's huge, it's clean, it's free and most importantly, it's very beautiful.
One of the most amazing places in Cardiff for me, I enjoyed it so much.
It's definitely a must go for all the tourists.
Some of the trees in that park are looking like they are standing there for like 1000 years...
S. C.
Nice and big park with lots of seating and very enjoyable place to sit and chill after or before shopping in Cardiff city centre.
D. J.
Excellent place to walk, run, ride a bicycle take a boat ride, simply revel in nature, enjoy an ice cream or buy plants. Play some music.
F. O. T.
A great park close to the castle, that's just perfect for a stroll. You can, however, also take the boat from here and reach the bay.
G. P.
This park is one of the most nice park in the city of Cardiff. I was wondering around in this park like plenty times and still able to find something I have never seen yet. There is the river of Taff crossing the whole park with many wonderful spots and 2 small waterfalls. Football, rugby and even cricket options are available. Some gym equipment available too. I also Wanted to mention the colourful flowers and the huge trees u could find all around.
J. J.
BUTE PARK, i Spent a few hours there today . And i quite enjoyed it. Because im into walking and i like wildlife and taking a few pics. Theres not much wild life there at this time of year. But because of the time of year the colours are amazing. With the leaves on the ground and all the green from the moss on the stone and walls.Yes it was a bit cold but the best thing about it , it was free 👍. So it didnt cost me a penny. Its a nice place to go if you fancy a walk. And if you have a mans best friend or ladys even better. Theres plenty of room for your dogs to run around in , on or off leads. There were alot of dogs there today. So its a very good place for dog walking. And if your into your fitness great because its also a good place to run, Jog, cycle, what ever your into .I also think its a good place to bring your children specailly if they have bikes and if you live in the city centre and near busy roads. At least if you bring them to bute park you will know then they will be safe from all the Traffic. Bute park is really nice in the Summer . And through the summer theres always something going on at bute park. So you could bring a nice picnic . Just thought i would let you know With weather being like it is at the moment cold and sometimes wet. Has you walk in through the enterence theres a sweet little tea room . where you can have a snack and something to warm you up. The parks attractions :
Family , transportation
Trees, and , Plants , historical
toilet facilities,
disabled toilets, Baby changing ,
educational , Wifi , Wildlife, fitness
Trails , Food and drink .
: Please check website for details :
And thank you for reading my Review.

A large park next to Cardiff castle that hosts a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is very large and makes a pleasant walk on a nice day. Lots of benches to sit on and take in the beautiful surroundings too. This park sometimes hosts events. The black Weir river part is lovely. I would recommend this park when visiting the city centre. It makes a lovely stroll.
K. N. (.
nice park in the heart of Cardiff. so huge, it seems endless! the cafe near the castle end is nice, and there's plenty of space for all sorts of activities, as well as some walking trails in the wooded area by the river. there's also a camping area (paid) near the stadium end!
R. B.
You can enter Bute Park near to Cardiff Castle and keep heading North for 6 Miles. Passing through gardens, open fields, crossing rivers and streams, through Llandaff past the Cathedral, through Forest Farm and Longwood nature reserve and you will eventually reach Castell Coch. It's a fantastic way to spend a day outdoors if you're visiting Cardiff.
P. G.
Great day out at the RHS Show in Bute Park. Plenty to do, nice stalls, exhibitions, displays, quality food with plenty of choices. Came home with lots of ideas for my garden. My first time in Bute Park, very spacious, clean and tidy. You would not believe ther was a busy City a couple of hundred yards away!
J. B.
Beautiful! I love this park.
I will sometimes go out of my way just walk through here if I'm going somewhere.
The trees the have here are spectacular and it's great that on some of the trees they have little plaques to identify what you are looking at.
There's large open fields which are used for walking dogs, sports and for sunbathers when it's sunny.
The main path is part of the taff trail so it's frequent to cyclists and runners here.
There is also a small shack cafe here which is popular among the regular visitors.
There are also many exhibits, shows and events held here. Recently I visited the Royal Horticultural show here and the pictures shall be below among others.
E. B.
Great park with an abundance of plants and trees, and looks glorious in spring and summer. Couldn't feel happier to have this as part of our city. 🌿🏴
B. P.
Nice Park. Went on a Sunday, young kids playing football with family etc. Plenty of space, Not many places to sit. Felt like typical Sunday afternoon with family even with the corvid threat. KFC, macdonalds, lidl and some other restaurants just across the road.
n. s.
Love this spacious park in the middle of the city centre. Always beautifully looked after no matter what time of year you visit. Big open spaces for the kids or dogs to run in. Lovely plants, trees, shrubs and flowers to admire as you walk at your own pace along the paths. 3 lovely spots to get a cuppa or fill your bellies and lots of benches to stop and watch the world go by.
C. I.
We went for the Christmas lights. Clean and well kept. Highly recommend a walk around.
D.
Sometimes peaceful, sometimes rowdy, find a corner to while away your day with the squirrels or go for goal.
Lots of old trees, areas of planting and green spaces. It has cafes, wooden sculptures and exercise places to keep you entertained.
M. N.
Bute Park is a great place to go for a leisurely walk. Situated in the heart of Cardiff directly behind Cardiff Castle. It contains some beautiful specimen trees, as most of Cardiff's parks seem to do. Great views of the castle too!
P. A. -. P. T. M.
Not simply The Central Park, starting from the Castle, – but the leading path northbound, alongside the river Taff.
Moreover, with a further 30 mins walk through the Pontcanna fields you can find the great Llandaff Cathedral area North West from the Pontcanna.
S. L.
Oh Bute park was a treat to the eyes. We were in Cardiff when the temperatures were soaring and what a better place to spend the afternoon than the Bute park. Right in the city centre next to the Cardiff Castle, the park was blossoming with spring colours and filled with People enjoying the bright sunshine. In spite of the crowd, the park was very clean and well- maintained. The spring colours added more beauty and it was a great experience walking around.
H. B.
Bute Park is by far one of Cardiff's best features & a must see while visiting the capital.
It's a park to be enjoyed, & is the people's park. With Cardiff Castle as back drop, & ever changing colourful trees that delight the eye through the change of seasons, it is both a photographer's dream & nature lovers alike.
Bute Park has so much history, nature & wildlife. There are signed informative walking trails where you can discover different flower, tree & bird species, well maintained flower beds which are a spectacle in Spring & Summer, & being right on the River Taff, you can catch a water taxi to Cardiff Bay.
The park is popular with walkers, daily strollers, joggers, cyclists, & visitors alike.
There's a lovely cafe just a 5 minute walk from the entrance, with outdoor seating, serving great coffee, & a convenient place to take a break from your day.
Further in to the park there's another cafe & art gallery.
Other features of the park include tree carved sculptures, stones, & in Summer, Coopersfield plays a part in hosting outdoor concerts.
U. l. N.
Plenty goes on here from demonstrations to conversationalist talks. The park itself is vast so a good walk can be had. A great place to meet and have a picnic.
B.
Went on a boat trip down to Cardiff bay and back. Was good fun. It takes about 30 minutes each way. So an hour in total. We we're suprised at how many swans were on the water. Good views and an informative tape makes for a fab hour.
M. D. R.
It's huuuuge, beautiful, and very green. You'll be able to find your own spot, be it by the river or in the fields, or in the forest. There's a snack and coffee place in it, on top of Pettigrew's tea which is a very nice place. Check it out!
J. C.
Lovely park, spacious, although very popular there's plenty of space for everyone
V. D.
Amazing place with a river passing through. Best plax to relax with nature
R. W.
Can't really fault the place. It's a great visit all year round. No two weeks are ever the same. Plenty of nature, trees, grass, river and wildlife to see and share. I'm here every week without fail as it gives me an opportunity to unwind during my walk and to take in nature at its best.
I love it that much, that I got engaged here!
l. m.
Lovely place to walk around. Plenty of things to look at, places to sit. Loads of pokemon opportunities. Cycle tracks, regular running and sporting activities. Places to eat and drink coffee. It even has a castle!
K. D.
Saw the Jurassic Encounter here with my family. What a fabulous day out. The park was well kept too!
D. M.
Amazing lights at Xmas. Well worth the money
J. R.
Lovely large park with wide canal, interesting dinosaur large scale exhibition. There.are boat rides or tours for the canal.but I never got around to it. The park has a few cafes which are handy especially in the heat you can get auxh needed ice cream. It's a huge park so be prepared to walk lots if you want to explore and it's close to the castle if you want to see that too.
L. P.
Who would have thought that in the centre of Cardiff you would find a space so rich in nature and so peaceful. I must confess I didn't walk the 2 Miles we covered - power of mobility scooter wins....
As you still beside the river is easy to get lost in contemplation, only your own thoughts for company. I noticed a fitness course with a number of "machines" to aid in fitness. There was a could of cafes along the route to provide refreshment too.
P. L.
Good place to visit during the lock down to relax and enjoy. Walking along the Taff Trail to the Blackweir Bridge is a nice experience.
T. H.
Wow! Fantastic display! Huge amount of work gone into it. We all loved it including 2 yr old great granddaughter. Food was good although a little expensive. Toilets were an experience I would not want to repeat. Really bad!!!
I. Y.
Amazing day, grandson loved the Dinosaurs, extremely well run exhibition. Bute Park is beautiful 😍❤
M. Ç. N.
One of the best parks in the UK. Great for chilling, running and relax time. Exquisitely beautiful in summer time
J. B.
Rhs flower show in bute park. Fabulous flower displays, plenty of food stalls and seating areas too, and plenty of stalls selling plants. Also band playing music and presentations of flower displaying and plant care. Fab day spent there.
D. B.
There's a very interesting sculpture of a seal chasing fish by the aquabus stop. The other day a lady was sitting in the circle of the sculpture reading. She looked very comfortable and it made a superb picture . The princess Katherine aquabus arrives and that whole area comes to life. Lovely
B. M.
A lovely park alongside the river in Cardiff by the side of the castle. We were there to see a Jurassic park event so it was alive with the roars of these ancient beasts. A good day out for the children.
A. L.
A quiet oasis in the middle of bustling Cardiff. This beautiful park has river passing through, cafes, river bus to the bay and a wonderful selection of trees and shrubs. Brilliant place for a picnic or just a stroll.
P. B.
What can you say? Its a park with good pathways next to the taff. Ideal for a walk to clear the head also has a great couple of coffee shops in the area.
N. M.
Went for a lovely long walk with the wife. Weather nice for the time of year. Lots to see/look at, lots of paths to explore. Plenty of sign posts around, plenty of points of interest to visit. Will have to come back with family & friends in the summer!
R. W.
Went for the Christmas Lights. Great for kids and sentimental saps. For people like me (Grinch-like) there were lights strapped to trees I had to pay 40 odd quid to look at, £5 for a dishwater coffee and £8 for a burger I could make better myself for a quarter the price! 🤷🏻♂️
Can't really comment on the surrounding as it's the only time I've been there and it was in the night. Would like to go in the day but doubt I ever will as Cardiff is not really a place I enjoy going too often and if I want to go to a park there's far better around my area.
I. M.
Went to the light show yesterday, fantastic . Well done Cardiff
T. W.
Lovely day out seeing the dinosaurs but could off had a couple of benches to sit on
G. J.
Awesome light show. Fire garden was good.
J. S.
Christmas event was outstanding! Worth every penny!
A.
Such a wonderful park with lots of things to do: walking, running, relaxing, coffee shops, sport fields, biking, etc.
T. L.
Nice place and open but very muddy doing the dinosaur trail on day 1
J. B.
Lovely park in the centre of Cardiff.
Great walks and super coffee shop at The Secret Garden.
Perfect peace in the city.
G. M.
Massive, gorgeous park slap bang in the centre of Cardiff - really beautiful walks and it's all well-paved and accessible. Despite being perfectly safe during the day, I would not recommend coming here after dark as it's not well-lit and is a popular place for muggings at night.
T. O. T.
Watched the new years eve fire work display in the area last night .. never saw much of it with been so many people around and been dark but I also visited a while back when my son and his beautiful wife got married here at the City Hall. So we stood in the same place for the fireworks display . Lovely memories here from the wedding . I visit when im staying at there's for Xmas etc and the fun fairs ./ Ice rink etc are fun to go round .. Always bustling with visitors . Can't wait to be back again .
J. H.
Great spot for a walk. Lovely opportunities for photography and spotting wildlife. Nice for a bit of peace and quiet
M. N.
Beautiful park. Nice and green. Beautiful flower walk right along the river just after where the boat leaves, and quite a few squirrels. You can walk along the natural path by the river that bikes can't go up (starts near Secret Garden Cafe) and that's really beautiful and tranquil when you get further in.
M. Y.
We got a boat from Cardiff Bay to see the castle. The boat stops here - it's worth a walk around, lovely park 😀
a. w.
At first, not sure how the evening would pan out. But it turned into a wonderful evening. The lights mixed with shadows and trees proved to be
a wonderful display . The colour of the lights were vibrant & danced through the trees. Added to this was the castle in the background. The music played throughout the walk was dramatic and it was an amazing experience! Please can we have more of this for Cardiff residents!
j. y.
Good place for exercise!!!
S. A.
Beautiful park.
Sadly we didn't have a chance to see all the park because there was a crime scene in progress.
M. S.
The Taff trail walk through the park and along the river is a lovely walk.
K. H.
Good day out for the family, the only thing it needs is cheap water or free if it's a hot day for the kids.
n. m.
Great park. Well maintained, lovely trees and flowers, 3 cafes, lovely walks and great for cycling
p. h.
Stunning park with several cafe around, possible the prettiest park in Cardiff, ideal for a family afternoon stroll or a romantic after with a partner, well worth a visit, there is also boat tides into the bay available from the castle end of the river.
l. c.
Cute park, bigger than expected. Lots to see and walk around. Love all the flowers
X. E.
Gorgeous park in autumn. And recommended for the tea room too.
K.
What a lovely park with so many gorgeous flowers and shrubs in stunning colours - well done to the gardening team! The day we went the Dinasaur experience was impressive with realistic roaring sounds as we sat in the lovely cafe. A great place for children and for all the family too. You just don't feel like you are in the centre of the city. Am looking forward to returning to this lovely park.
S. P.
Xmas Bute park light show was amazing!!
D. J.
Amazing park. I go there quite often for a walk. And you get different experiences during different times of the year. Everything is growing and changing slowly as time passes too, so if you live nearby, a detour through this park into town or simply a loop around the park while listening to some music or an audio book is always pleasant, and good exercise too!
F. B.
The lung of Cardiff. Occasionally falls into disrepair after some exhibitions
Ironically the Spring RHS show is one that takes its toll. Great place for a walk and has a nature trail too as well as the old feeder canal walk.
O. A.
Possibly the nicest Park in the area just behind Cardiff Castle.
It really worths a stroll around.
R. C.
Bute park is a great day out in the nature for all kinds of activities. Located in the city centre, it is very accessible and has several entry points. Amazing cycling track along the river taff, certainly a must if in Cardiff. Great for jogging, running and picnics on a sunny day. With big fields to play sports or just chill out!
M. T.
Amazing park to visit and have a good time
H. D.
So lush to see the daffs out!
I. F.
If you've never been to Bute Park then you don't know what you're missing, it's lovely. From the flowers to the archaeology, the view of the castle, the marigold trees, walks along the River Taff, it's just lovely.

Big park, bit short of wild areas. Would be great to have some wildglower meadow in the heart of Cardiff.
G. D.
Bute Park is a lovely open space in the heart of Cardiff. It has good views of the Castle, places to get refreshments, Pettigrews (a delightful tea room) and lots of space along the river bank.
M. W.
Directly behind Cardiff Castle, a really excellent place to relax and enjoy a wander away from the City, yet be in middle of the City
V. J.
A lovely park located near Cardiff Central and next to the castle. You can get the ferry from here to go to the Quay which is great, our 4yr old throughly enjoyed the ferry ride and running around climbing trees here . Lots of little bits to explore and a cafe to stop and refuel. Absolutely worth a visit to Cardiff.
J.
Beautiful park. Very quiet. The wooden sculptures were the highlight.
M.
Lovely place, lovely views, good for kids, walking, jogging, taking the dogs out, and fishing the taff - even plenty of places to grab a tea of coffee while doing any of the above
s. r.
Lovely park close to the city center, surprisingly massive! It's a great place to go running in the morning, gets a bit busy in the afternoon though. There is a place in the park to buy refreshments, but it's still close enough to town if you need anything else. Large open green fields for football, etc.
K. M.
Great Park, plenty of trees and open space for walking, running, excersising dogs or just relaxing. We went to see the homeless world Cup (Street football) and had a fantastic day.
r. m.
Lovely place to walk around very interesting bit of history
V. R.
Bute Christmas lights were lovely, we all enjoyed. As my children are older now it was nice to do something Christmasy without it being to young. Thoroughly enjoyed.
I. A.
Lovely park to walk around. With the river paths and cute cafes. Bliss just away from the main buzz of the city
D. L.
Nice city park with lovely cherry trees and lots more. Went to a plant fair here this morning.
M. C.
Lovely family walk
M. O.
Outstanding park look for all the many wood carvings skatered around this park .next go inside the castle well worth a visit
B. R.
If you value solitude and have time to spare, you must visit this park. Apart from providing some views of the Cardiff Castle, the park is full of trees that provide a green canopy that many long to see.
Go and see the park guys.
B. S.
Lovely place to walk around and a few cafes. Great place to catch the boat as well.
W. M.
Wales should always be at it's wild, glorious best. This is sacred ground in a city. Lovely.
R. G.
Just simply an awesome park in the city ... Hugely historic n one of the most diverse City Parks in terms of species in the whole of Europe
S. W.
Beautiful park and backdrop to Cardiff and its stunning castle.
m. b.
Pleasant Christmas light show. Far too expensive though.
K. M.
Vety big and clean place. Nice to walk and rest
C. N.
Beautiful park to spend the day outdoors, under the sun. Great open spaces with lots of flowers and greenery. And plenty of paths to go out for a walk!
B. P.
Beautiful grounds to have a wander through on a lovely sunny day. There is currently a dinosaur exhibit with life-size dinosaurs which move and make noises. Although this is mainly aimed at kids, I've always loved dinosaurs so was nice to walk around (we didn't pay to get in but most can be seen from outside the perimeter fence).
P. F.
Beautiful tranquil place in the city. Lots of different varieties of plants and trees.
K. B.
Huge park with various attractions from a large variety of trees, plants and flowers, river with boat trips, cafe.
d. c.
Clean and spacious park connecting to Cardiff castle. Had lights setup for Xmas but only visited during daylight hours
F. S.
Beautiful open space in the city centre. Peaceful and a great place to wander.
P. X.
Nice to go for a walk. There's a lot is people doing sports, with their pets... Nice to have something like that in the city centre
A. G.
Stunning park next to Cardiff Castle, a must to see. So many beautiful flowers
J. L.
Very well kept park, on a sunny mild day we had a lovely walk to a cafe (The secret garden) and had a tasty hotchocolate to warm our hands up. Overall a fantastic park for a relaxing walk with your friends or dogs ❤
A. C.
The dinosaurs were very good in bute Park in Cardiff the grandchildren enjoyed it all there was so much to see.
M. B. P.
Lovely grounds and well maintained. Great place for a walk, picnic or some photography. Lots of things to see and plenty of wildlife. There are also public toilets and a small cafe.
A.
A really lovely park right in the middle of Cardiff and adjacent to the castle. Amazingly large considering its city centre location. Beautiful walks abound right through the park. Just inside on the left is a jetty from which you can join a boat to go to Cardiff Bay. Great place for a stroll or a picnic etc.,
V. T.
Bute Park at Christmas was an incredible experience. The lights, music, special effects, drinks and food were absolutely fabulous. Loved it. Would highly recommend a visit
R. W.
A large park in Central Cardiff. Although it is well signposted, it is useful to download the park map here to help get some perspective. This park is luscious in the Summer & offers various trails & nature walks. There is a fitness trail & other climbing bits for children dotted around. The map will explain which cafes are open as well as the ones with w/c facilities.
The location of the park is fabulous & you can literally walk off the busy High Streets of Cardiff in to the more tranquil scenes of the park. One of the park entrances is very close to Cardiff Castle & this is the entrance to use for the ferry. The little ferrys run, in good weather, from Bute Park to Cardiff Bay for £4 each way. If you take the ferry across & the weather turns, be sure to plan your way back from Cardiff Bay as you will not be able to return via ferry.
There are a few car parks around the park & its different entrances but it would be better to plan this out before your visit. The car parks along North Road will give you quite a walk to the city end of the park.
Its always lovely to see green spaces in bigger cities & if you appreciate nature you will appreciate Bute Park.
C. 0.
I love this park, right in the heart of Cardiff. There's some small coffee shops that are well worth the visit. Every so often events are held here too. But my favourite part is that the cycle track just leads here, from a lovely ride that mostly follows the river Taff.
R. W.
If it's a bike ride, walking, jogging, it's perfect place for everyone
R. K.
A beautiful park in the heart of the city. A pleasure to walk through it. As its so extensive you can use it as a route to other parts of Cardiff.
V. S.
Cafe is open, park is nice and clean and good for a run / cycle or dog walk
I. H.
Beautiful greenery, lovely long walks (or runs!) with lots of routes to choose from. Dog friendly, theres a cafe, bike friendly also.
W. R.
Lovely park and one of the best in Cardiff. Beautiful flowers and green spaces. Close to or links in with Sophia Gardens, National Express coach station, Cardiff Castle, national cycle route 8 etc... Gets really busy though with loads of events, groups and activities so it is difficult sometimes to find a quite spot for relaxation.
n. e.
Went to see the light show. Think £18 was a bit steep. £10? Was just ok. Never wondered the ground during the day but it was nice enough in the evening.
R. M.
It was magical qell worth the money..
C. C.
Lovely park with plenty of space for: a nice picnic with your favourite people, a football kick about, frisbee fun, dog-walking, nature lovers, and amazing on a sunny day for a bit of relaxation!
There is a secret garden café situated at the middle-section of the park behind the Redwood building that is lovely for a sweet cup of tea, a cooling ice-cream or just to sit and admire the views! It is dog-friendly so that's another plus!
J. S.
It was lovely to take our time & enjoy the lights & music. Stalls got a little busy. I will be honest, not sure if it was worth the money. Although got us feeling Christmasie🎅🎄
G. S.
Excellent afternoon stroll, right in the middle of Cardiff! Unspoiled and non commercial. Wonderful trees, shrubs and flowers. Views of the castle, river Taff, and rugby stadium. Activity trail for young children. Picnic spots park cafes etc. Car park off Cathedral Road is pay and display. Park entry free.
S. P.
It's great! A well kept park
F. T.
An amazing park , well kept and clean by the river. Water taxi into city centre.
B. A.
We were most impressed by this large and beautiful park with its many colourful and well kept flower and plant beds and many interesting features. We also liked the fact that it is in the city centre and along the River Taff and that it can easily be reached by a water bus from and to Cardiff Bay.
A walk through the park and along the river is most relaxing and we enjoyed it so much that we visited three times during our six night stay in Cardiff Bay.
L. D.
Nothing much to say about this park besides it being bloody great. You have a couple of hidden cafes there which offer lovely coffees and the fantastic views alongside it also. If you're visiting Cardiff to see the castle drop by, it might give you a shock. It's the Hyde Park of Cardiff.
d. d.
Beautiful. The park is huge and perfect for a day out with family or friends.
Y. K.
A wonderful, easy to reach and free park that is great to take the kids to our just wonder through when you have a bit of free time
D. O.
Nice place for a walk, children to run around, 3 cafe's, clean and quiet,

T. b. S.
I never knew that there is a tree champion in Cardiff. Beautiful garden, Cardiff castle is beside it, also got taught about the garden,
S. R.
Nice park for walks but nothing different to large parks in Birmingham.
M. E.
Excellent light show, a bit muddy in places, food and drink available, well worth the visit. Long walk from Sophia Gardens car park!
A. N.
The botanical garden level of trees and flower diversity embedded with ancient druid and modern church ruins makes for a great group meditation on the happiness of everyday life.
w. e.
This is our local park, lots if lush green and plenty of space to enjoy. From cricket pitches to a outdoor gym, tabletennis and the secret garden cafe.
We love using the outdoor ping-pong table, and we bring our own bats and balls. You can hire them from the cafe for a small deposit. Outdoor chess table is nearby too.
Plenty of trees to keep the kids interested and safe to climb as well.
B. A.
Amazing park. Went this weekend to the jurassic Dinosaur event.
N. D.
Bought tickets to see the dinosaurs in Bute Park was a fantastic couple of hours out!
S. M.
Always a pleasure to visit my local park 🖤
K. S.
A great way to get into the Christmas spirit albeit expensive for what it was.
G. G.
Huge park in Cardiff that is adjacent to Cardiff Castle. Aqua taxis leave from Bute and take you to Cardiff Bay, well worth the trip. There are plenty of paths, benches, and various attractions in the park to spend time with and explore.
S. C.
Beautiful park walked 11 miles around but didn't get to see it all will be back
R. C.
One of my favourite parks in the UK, better than Bristol Downs or The Town Moor in Newcastle, this park has everything from wild garden walks, the Sophia Gardens, there was a dinosaur themed walk on when we were there and of course sports playing fields. A true oasis in the city centre of Cardiff
G. L.
Visited Bute Park for the Jurassic Encounter. Great day out for the kids if they like dinosaurs. Well set out and some really good working models.
Car parking was a nightmare. Closest Car park was easy walking distance from the venue but way too small for the size of the event.
m. f.
The park was OK but the parking was a nightmare Cardiff strikes again with broken parking meters that couldn't accept cards. But that's what you have to expect it happens alot.
P. M.
A beautiful quiet and clean walk through nature. Must go if you’re ever in Cardiff
J. C.
Lovely park, weather was a HOT but thank fully there is a lot of shady areas and tree canapés. Large open green areas for picnics, activity areas (balance beams, ropes etc). Didn't try the park kiosk but it looked nice, outdoor seats, icecream, drinks and snacks etc.
D. K.
Fantastic green space in the heart of the city. Brilliant for walking or jogging around. River makes for some beautiful views, and there is a water taxi which leaves from here to go to the bay. There is a lovely bridge over the weir and, and at the other end there is of course Cardiff Castle. The cafe by the bridge over to Sofia Gardens is not as expensive as it could be and has a reasonable selection.
T.
I love this park, everything you need and all the nature you could ask for!
A. R.
Lovely walk around the muddy Dinosaurs
M. L.

there were hand sanitisers there on the route - not sure if this was the park or the exhibition but most were empty
Y. C.
What a lovely park, really inclusive with an amazing cycle path. A cycle hire company with double and single trikes meant everyone one could enjoy zipping around. Lovely cafe.
M. P.
Lovely sunny day when I visited and with the cooling waters of the River Taff close by it was very refreshing there.
Lots of runners, walkers, cyclists and a generally happy feeling. A wonderful piece of nature right in the heart of the city.
Please be risk aware though because as well as the wonderful friendly people of Cardiff there are a few from the other side of life.

A jewel in the city centre, fantastic walks, gardens and the secret garden cafe is unbelievable. Graham Norton can slag Cardiff off but obviously didn't have intelligence or stamina to explore Bute Park.😂

Beautiful park right next the Castle in central Cardiff.

Nice afternoon watching dinosaurs in the park 🤣. Thought the entrance fee was a bit high given that some of the displays looked quite tired and tatty, but it was their last day here so I'm glad I went.

Y. H.
Lovely green space in the middle of a bustling city.
C. B.
Lights at bute Park is a good escape from the dramas of the world. The sea of lights is impressive

One of my favourite parks ever. The castle in it makes it so great and picturesque. It's so pretty. I have spent literally half of my life in Bute Park. Been on dates here, walks, barbecues and even University assignments. It's a must visit when it's snowy in Cardiff too because you'll definitely find a lot of funny snowmen.
Á. C.
A huge urban park. The atmosphere is fairy-tale-like

Who doesn't love dinosaurs.
Great few hours out for the kids that are dinomad.
J. D.
Loved it. Huge park, mainly grass, well forested and dog friendly, with excellent wheelchair access. What's not to love? It seemed very popular and used extensively by locals and visitors. One great point is that it is right in the middle of the town. It seems to be a fantastic location for people-watching and squirrel seeking! All in all, it is a rare gem of a park.
A. S.
Beautiful Park.
Ideal for nature walks, cycling, playing table tennis near the Secret Garden Cafe or just relaxing.
Need to go back soon.

N. G.
So christmassy!!. Wasn't expecting it to be so amazing. Something different everywhere you turn. Beautiful!!
A. O.
I work in the centre of Cardiff and to have such a large park right in the centre is such a treat. The ornamental garden is always nicely maintained, and there are nice flat pavements for walking and running. There are also hundreds of little tracks through the trees that mean you can go off exploring without risking ending up in the middle of nowhere (even if it feels like you're miles from civilisation).
S. B.
Lovely park
R. F.
Gorgeous place with loads of space. Brilliant for a run, a bike ride, a game a sports between friends, a simple sit in the sun with a book, a picnic. Loads of space and things to look at, including lots of trees and the old canal where you might see ducks. Nearby is Cardiff Castle and multiple places to eat and drink.
D. P.

Probably my favourite part of the city. Each season has its own attraction with different colours and flowers, plants and trees beside the Taff. A place to walk, cycle, jog, picnic, have a coffee stop, or just have time out when Primark is busy!
S. W.
Stunning what a beautiful park and boat trip
U. R.
A beautiful place for a walk, for cycling or jogging. Some tucked away cafes especially the "secret garden" cafe that specializes in home grown and home cooked snacks and meals. Squirrels everywhere and a beautiful river to walk along . Great for picnics when the weather allows and in the centre of the city . Beautiful
d. s.
enjoyable walk but too many cyclists not having any thought for walkers with and without prams

Gorgeous park. So clean. Great trails. Fantastic for running, cycling, and loads of other sports. Great for family outings, dates, strolls, and lots more. Lots of things to see and the castle is right there too. Definitely go there!

Green space in any city is always welcome, but this is a particularly lovely spot just next to Cardiff Castle with some truly splendid views.
It's big, too, with some gorgeous trees, huge flowerbeds, open grassy spaces and also a stone circle. There are also a few cafes scattered throughout for caffeine or ice cream breaks.
If you're lucky you might also hear music from the students practising at the adjacent college of music.

Visited this park when on holiday and it was amazing! The flowers were so delicately planted with many vibrant colours.

Thoroughly enjoy a morning stroll and a cuppa in the Park.

Stunning park with the castle in it. Don't forget to visit if you are in Cardiff. That are a massive amount of flowers, bushes, very old trees. Plenty for photography. You can also use the boat service but we haven't tried it as we were in Cardiff only for a weekend to see the Monster truck race in the stadium.

Bute Park is a great place to take a walk, in the heart of Cardiff over looking Cardiff Castle and the park itself is well looked after, peaceful and tranquil its like being in the countryside, for the dog owners it's dog friendly.
Have a great day.

Beautiful park in the middle of a historical city. Reminds me of Central Park if it was clean, healthy and had more trees. Worth picking up a couple cans of Ale and a bag of crisps and people watching. There is a lot to see so give yourself a full afternoon to relax and enjoy. Moving from the Arcades to this area freshens the mind and rejuvenated my soul.

Absolutely stunning park. Impeccably kept up with lovely walks. From tarmac paths to unsurfaced tracks through the trees, there's something to suit everyone. A real oasis - you'd never know you were right in the middle of one of Europe's leading cities.

Beautiful green space in central Cardiff, very large & excellent for walks, running and other forms of exercise. Lots of animals and nature too

The Bute park located near the Castle is lovely, clean and well maintained. In the middle of it, you can find the Taff River, which has a beautiful surrounding nature with tall trees and grass always green.

It is always a joy to walk through this beautiful park, it has an easy layout to navigate through and love how flat it is so it makes it walking easy on the joints. The cafe has a good range of food and drink in addition they sold flowers and plants.
