Great arena for ice skating and for roller skating. Easy to book. Friendly staff. Great facilities. Good even for younger kids. Penguin hire is £5. Skates on hire are nice and sharp. Not too crowded. Lockers are various sizes, can pay for them by card. Clean toilets.
G. P.
Really easy to book. Was all done online before arriving at the place. You can hire the Ice skates and a penguin for beginners also. The sessions are just over an hour long.
Bit of queue to wait to get in and then wait for hired skates . Lockers available on site to store your belongings.
The place is kept clean and tidy and there are trained staff on the rink during the whole session for any help, advice.
Definitely worth taking the kids .

Went there to watch an ice hockey game, Devils vs Blaze, the game was fantastic, the man on the screen in charge of entertainment was hilarious and showed GIFs when a score happened, the ice skating rink is enormous and it is generally a good place to go with family.
L. M.
Great place to go ice skating with very few alternatives within Wales. Staff are very friendly, facilities are great with 2 different rinks and coaches are very knowledgable. Value is variable and can sometimes get very busy.
J. D.
Easy access, free parking which is always a plus and we’ve watched a few Cardiff Devils hockey games here this year and thoroughly enjoyed!
C. T.
Mid range arena, if you compared to Sheffield or Manchester. Sits right in the middle. Good skating lessons, prices and times. Go and see a Cardiff Devils game if you can. Good facilities in terms of food, drink and toilets. Always a fun trip. Parking is adequate, at peaks times you'll not likely get into the car park. But the pool car park is across the road, toys r us car park is open on match nights, and morrisons allows 3 hours stay.

Been coming here to the ice hockey pretty much since it opened, maybe once or twice each season.
Last visit was 18th January 2020.
Always a great atmosphere, full house, home Devil fans are friendly and welcoming.
Im usually sat in the away block, and the Devils have a block 'next door' where they chant, sing and bang drums, pretty much non stop!!...which is someways part and parcel at a hockey match!...home and away fans alike!
I buy the odd coffee, but not sure of the quality/prices of the food+alcohol?
Looking forward to going again!...been too long!

If you are thinking about learning to skate, just do it! I signed up for a 6 week (Sunday morning) course as a complete beginner. I was worried that I'd be the only adult in the class (level 1). Turns out quite a few grown-ups want to learn to ice skate! Fantastic coaching and a real fun bonding within our group!. Love it! Ill be taking more lessons at level 2 and beyond! Highly recommend the learn to skate coarse

Great way to spend an hour with the kids. Lots of people on the rink and lots of competent people too 🙂 We are novices so when one of us took a tumble, the staff would shoot o er to check we were ok. Very attentive. Music playing in the rink too which was nice. The only downside was the cafe was closed, but there were vending machines on site.plenty of parking too. It was cheaper to get the family ticket as the skate hire was therefore free effectively, rather than getting 2 kids and an adult. Might sound obvious but I very nearly booked that before seeing the family ticket underneath.
R. J.
Great family friendly place if you want to do something different.
A. D.
Came here for a ice hockey game, the place is so nice and it was nice to be on the Cardiff Junior Devils home turf. One of our players when on the ice with the public before hand, to give it a test drive. Well worth a visit
E. H.
Kids loved it and staff were fantastic when my other half had an accident
s. l.
Absolutely love this place, been going here since they opened the doors for the 1st time to watch the cardiff devils play hockey and been on the ice a few times skating, great night out, electric atmosphere, staff are all happy to help and friendly, what more could you want for a great sporting night out, highly recommended
C. “. L.
Really great place to skate at really great prices. However despite saying no jumps or tricks on the ice during public sessions. Obviously trained skaters get away with it though which is distracting and nerve wracking if you aren’t experienced.
M. D.
Great place to watch the Cardiff Devil's play
A. H.
Had a great time - first time at an Ice Hockey game. Would be good to have better directions in the stadium to find your seats, and better food options
H. M.
Had an amazing time at the Cardiff Devils match with Girlguiding Cymru. Our Brownies really enjoyed the ice skating - and thanks to Cardiff Comers and Ice Arena Wales for helping the girls on the ice. Great afternoon and evening.... and the Devils won!!
C. J.
Went for the Friday night "disco" however there werent much of a disco (as the picture from the website suggests) 2 flickering lights with some background music. Staff were friendly though and not too busy
R. J.
Great place, our granddaughter (4) has 1-1 lessons here, her coach Tracey is fantastic with her..
S. W.
Was lots of fun.. but there were more than the 30 people we were told there would be!!
Would go again... especially once covid restrictions are relaxed.
The family go every week, and love it!!
Can't wait to get tickets to watch a Devil's game
F. H.
Always great fun watching the Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey. My only frustration when taking children is that the ticket time is 7pm, so we get there for 6:30 but Face Off is nearer 7:45. Food is great and 'chuck the puck' is fun for all the family. Recommend Thai for a reasonable cost family night out.
K. B.
We went to the disco on ice during the term time on a Friday night. Expect to be left stood in the cold in a massive queue to get in. I went with my 12 year old 11 year old and 3 year old tiny daughter she wears age 1 clothes so as you can imagine she is so tiny.
Whilst getting the skates laced up I sent my daughter to hire a penguin which is an aid for young children to help them stay up on the ice they use it as support they refused her and said we don't use them for the discos pretty pointless really she was unable to stand on the ice which resulted in me hunched over holding her up for 45 minutes of the session my back was in half it made the session not enjoyable. 45 minutes pass I see a kid with a penguin on the ice alot older than my daughter I ask the parents and they said they just let them hire one so an hour into my session I get a penguin after they refused to give one to my daughter an hour prior!! The food is not great the selection is very few hotdog, £10 pizza or chips... also I suggest they dig in there pockets and buy some new toddler over the shoe skates my daughters were all bent
a. c.
Emma, Colin and Tracy are awesome 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ thank you very much for everything from your friends in Las Vegas

We came here for an ice hockey match, and I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing one before. Cardiff Devils were playing a team from Dundee. The game itself was exhilarating, the aggression and speed of it. The Devils have a lot of home support so there’s an enthusiastic atmosphere in the crowd. It all feels very North American but not in a way which is odious, the food they sell before the stadium is quite affordable (£10 for a pizza I split with my girlfriend) and it’s cool to be able to eat while you watch. My only gripe would be the music that plays in stoppage time, it’s pretty bad and I kind of wish it was silent instead, but it hardly ruins the experience. If you’ve never been to an ice hockey match you should go!
S. D.
Love this place, although very unorganised. Shame the front staff aren't a bit more happy and welcoming. This isn't just for public skating it's also home to the Cardiff devil's, synchronised skating team viola senior and elementary. Plus skate clubs that run on both Saturday and Sunday mornings which give you the chance to enter competitions and gala's
C. F.
Great venue with ample and reasonably priced parking. The view is very good as an away fan coming to see an ice hockey game and Cardiff fans have the best and loudest home voices. DONT eat here though, unless you want to spend £14 each for a burger fries and a drink. Not much choice in food and it's not that tasty.
R. P.
First hockey game and it was AMAZING!!! Will be back, great atmosphere, easy to get around, food and drink decently priced too.
t. C.
Loved it and the kids had great fun skating, the Arena played beautiful music played whilst skating was taking place...👍
M. k.
Love the place amazing night watching the hockey and other events that happen. The only thing I would say is, it is expensive for food and drink. And don't bother with the shop. Too small to look at what they are selling.
B. L.
Cone here for ice skating and also the Friday roller discos on the currently not iced small rink. Good value and so much fun.
K. J.
Took my daughter and her friend for her 7th birthday. They never been before hired a penguin but personally it's better for them without. Cost about 38 pounds for family of 4. Nice day out though she enjoyed it would go again
M. R.
Ice Arena Wales is a great venue for hockey! Its not a huge arena so realistically anywhere you sit you have a really great view. Its easy to get around to the merchandise stands and concessions and toilets as well.
I've seen that they have used the venue for Cage Warriors MMA as well which must be great too!
G. J.
Came here for a date night with my boyfriend. Spent an hour on the ice rink at peak time 7-8pm on a Saturday and it was great! I loved it. There wasn't too many on the ice which was perfect so you had plenty of room. So fun and if you fall there's always someone there to help you up! We will be back soon! 😁👍
C. G.
Took my daughter to the Friday night disco. She enjoyed it and there was plenty of room even with a lot of people there. Ice skating is still too expensive in my eyes but £10 for a couple of hours with her mates on a Friday night isn't too bad I suppose
T. p.
My family skated and had great fun, i spectated and went for a coffee. Only vending machines for hot drinks unfortunately. One swallowed my money and gave me nothing in return but a member of staff sorted it out for me. They have a food and cold drinks place if they added hot drinks as well it would be great.
A. M.
Had a great time here for a Cardiff Devils game. Prices for drinks average for stadiums etc and queues not too bad. Very quick on the doors checking tickets etc.
J. B.
Love the hockey here. Only 3 stars as you cannot get mobile signal inside and there is no WiFi. Not really good enough for a multi million pound facility.
B. C.
Great place for atmosphere. Overpriced burgers at £6 for a bun plastic piece of cheese and a burger that was uncooked. Bar prices not bad. Staff are lovely and friendly and very helpful
0.
Absolutely amazing venue. Home to the Cardiff Devils and was an awesome arena it is. Decent amount of seating. Multiple bar locations and a great view of the ice from practically anywhere inside. Also downstairs is skate hire you fancy giving that a go. Cardiff Devils merchandise shop also located there with lots of goodies, jerseys to support the team. Very helpful and friendly staff located on the main entrance desk to assist with any enquiries. Brilliant toilet facilities which are clean and very decent. Absolutely incredible atmosphere when watching a game. Really recommend making a visit to this place. Really awesome place and always make their fans feel really welcome. Taz (Cardiff Devils Mascot) is always happy to feature in your photography if you like taking selfies on game nights there too.
J. R.
Fabulous rink, however the disco is nothing like it used to be. Just flashing red lights.

Today Saturday the 6th of April, I attended with a party of ten for my daughters 10th Birthday.
It was never going to be easy as the 6 girls taken were all ASD-ADD girls.
All the staff were so very helpful and friendly from the start.
They all had the use of the penguins to begin as all were very scared and a little upset.
Nikita a viola staff member went way beyond and came out on to the ice to help the girls and show them how to skate.
In a short space of time all six had discarded the penguins and skated unaided !
I can't thank all your staff enough for making six young ladys day and giving them the confidence to skate around the same as everyone else ( they were the last to get off in the end)
The lack of self confidence and avoidance of new things is a huge hurdle for ASD-ADD boys and girls and as a parent I am thrilled how well today has gone and I encourage other ASD parents to bring their children along.
We will be back !
Thanks to all the staff on duty today

Great. Haven't been ice skating for years so was good fun. Clean and staff were friendly and fast
E. H.
Love going to watch the Devils play. Recently took a date there. Few minor irks, unfortunately, so few people in my block were wearing face masks. The queue for the women's toilet was out of control, took the entire second period break for her to get to the end of the queue. Also considering they only accept cash for programs, 50/50 and shirt of his back tickets, there is no ATM that I could see inside the arena. However I still enjoyed, and didn't have to queue at all for the toilets. Five stars for blokes, but relegated to a 4 star due to her wait.
B.
The Friday Disco was a bit of a let down after all these years but at least daughter & I spent quality time together which was most important
P. R.
Great night out, pity about the result.
V. J.
Come here for my daughter's cheerleading competition lovely setup and brilliant day here
C. H.
Went here with my boyfriend for an evening skating session. We had an hour session which was plenty of time as we were pretty tired after about 45 minutes. The rink was fairly busy but there was plenty of space to skate freely. We'll definitely visit again.
P. S.
Excellent venue, went to watch my grandson skating.
S. C.
A great place for ice skating but wrap up warm if you are spectating. Also you will need loose change if you want to buy the kids soft drinks from the vending machine
C.
Daughter and friend went and they thoroughly enjoyed the skating and mostly stayed upright!
R. &. S. H.
The ice hockey is brilliant, fantastic atmosphere, recommend to everyone!🏒🥅
하.
I'm having a brilliant time enjoying the Learn To Skate course at the Viola arena! The coaches are fabulous and the rink is of a very high standard. The public session is affordable and, if you get there early enough, you can spend long enough on the ice.
I've only had trouble with the rental skates about 4 times but I'm a constant skater that's working my way through the NISA course so it's more noticeable for me lol. I don't think you'd have any trouble though if you're just looking to enjoy the public session.
I'd definitely recommend going, even if you think you'll look like a Bambi on Ice ;)
P.
Came with the Girlguides. We had an amazing experience. Fantastic arena. Top rate facilities that you'd expect from a premier club. Fantastic atmosphere highly recommend for a family trip.
A. W.
Attended a Cardiff Devils match. If you're in Cardiff during the hockey season, this is a must-do night out. It's the most family friendly sports night around, with an amazing atmosphere and a bar!
A. B.
Fantastic place to visit love the atmosphere and the staff are very friendly
J. P.
I've only been here twice and it was to watch the ice hockey so I can't really comment on the ice rink but I love coming to watch the ice hockey here. It's such an improvement on the bbt. You have a great view wherever you sit and there's a few different places to get food and drinks so you're not all queuing at the same place. That being said, the service was poor when I went to get some chips, they were very slow and unorganised. The service at the hot dog stand on the other hand was great.
A. R.
Very good, busy but still plenty of space to skate
P. B.
Easy parking, booking and entry, good ice on the rink and not too busy, plus lots of spectator seating.
R. F.
My daughter's loved the ice skating. Friendly and helpful staff. Good size and good fun
T. B.
Went with family who skated, I watched.
They seemed to enjoy them selves.
A. B.
It's a small arena but very good facilities, bars all over the place and in a good location. Free parking close but do need to arrive very early!
M. R.
First time on the ice in about 25 years, but soon found my feet and only the one fall 🤪
Nice to get back skating, will definitely return in the near future.
N. S.
Went to watch a Devil's game with a couple of mates, it got me and my girlfriend hooked on Ice Hockey and now we can't wait to go back.
S. V.
Loved it. Staff were amazing in hospitality too and a decent selection of drinks and food. Fun night out for the Ice Hockey.
A. L.
I play hockey here at leat 3 times a week and the facilities are amazing
L. P.
Come to Ice arena Wales most weekends due to watching the Cardiff Devils. It's a nice place. Staff are helpful. Toilets are clean.
A. W. K.
Nice spacious arena with a bar and food stands. Restrooms are spaced out.
J. S.
Small arena not much atmosphere the staff are pleasant and very helpful.
c.
Ice skating and roller seating rinks. Cardiff devil's and card fire play here
J. S.
England has beautiful places to see and I love to travel
S. M.
First night in Cardiff and what a night to remember. Awesome fans and great result against Manchester. We will return
G. J.
Outdoors is a bit messy but it's a great rink. Not too busy when we went. Staff friendly
B. P.
Been coming here for a few weeks, great atmosphere but please be warned if you bring your child to a game it can get loud. Some away teams have fetched drums and are completely inconsiderate to those around them. As such I had to move to the other side just so my son could enjoy.
Aside from that it's a good place
R. J.
Great family activity we all enjoyed it. Entrance for family of five, a silver skater and a spectator was under £50. The staff were great, really friendly and helpful. My 7 year old got top tips from the experts on the ice. The only negatives were that the cafe was closed, the vending machines were a bit dodgy and the penguins for hire were only for half an hour or an hour, but the sessions are for 2 hours. Kids definitely want to go again though so, declaring it a success.
C. S.
Watching the Devil's is always fun. I also skate here with the Cardiff Huskies Para Ice Hockey Club; which is great fun too!
Q. _.
This place is great if you want to go ice skating! I watched the Cardiff devils and ot was amazing!
L. W.
We watch ice hockey most weeks and it is great
A. A.
Amazing game to watch with family or on your own
T. E.
Ice hockey camp for juniors, shame we couldn't watch with covid rules in Wales as they are
S. J.
Good night out with the kids.
G. B.
An excellent event for a day out with the family. The staff are very professional and friendly, if someone falls they'll be there in no time checking they're OK, rental skates are decent quality (but take thick socks in case they rub) and the rink is well maintained and spacious.
I found the community of people skating were also great, some offered plenty of tips to help me and my daughters get started, and plenty stopped to check if we were OK when falling. We've been twice and thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hour skating session both times.
D. J.
It was my first time attending the ice hockey game with the Cardiff Devils and Guilford Flames. I once had a juicy burger down there and tasted perfect. I have never seen such tasty fizzy drinks other diet coke before. The food is very good as I am keen to go there again whoever the Devils face off with.
W.
My first experience of ice hockey and I loved it, I'm coming back again in a few weeks time. Go Devils
i. R.
Always enjoy a night of hockey here, the beers and snacks quite reasonably priced and lots of fun games in between periods. The burgers are expensive but super good! (Or atleast the veggie one is!) And the ice skating is awesome too. The shop staff aren't so great but what can you do?
A. W.
Lovely arena, great staff and the food is reasonable price too!
L. D.
We went to watch a Devils game. The ice rink is fabulous. Really friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable prices on the food and drinks. Place was very clean all over. Lots of free parking spaces and regular buses.
S. P.
Great ice arena, with two pads and good quality ice maintenance. The public sessions stick mostly to timetable, however the patch sessions sometimes lack some organization. There is unfortunately no timetable on the door for information and the staff are not always fully devoted to attending customers. On the other hand, the facility is the best in the country and is very well cleaned thanks to the wonderful cleaner. Improvements are required, but the ice rink is suited to hold competitions, hockey matches and ice spectaculars.
M. K.
This is a decent arena. I think it could do with a bit of heating. I like the idea of easy access to bars and food. At the back of where you sit. Very friendly people best I've known at an away game. If I didn't live in Nottingham I would support Cardiff Devils.
F. S.
Great game of ice hockey on modern stadium
d. K.
Good day out withe kids boots could be better tho
s. d.
Fantastic place to watch the Cardiff Devils
I. J.
Went with two small children to see Ice hockey, great event , children were very excited. Sadly our seats were right by the drummer for the away team , this wouldn’t usually be a problem but my youngest has grommets in his ears which makes him sensitive to v loud noise. The staff found us seats away from the drummer and they got him ear defenders. Excellent customer service .
B. P. W.
Well if u like ice.
It's got ice.
If u like normal size changing room.
Your in for a shock.
H. C.
Great staff in the vip bar...fab place to go and enjoy..
M. B.
My daughter has lessons here the instructors have been great very knowledgeable. Also the public arena skate is well maintained, although the Friday night skate is very busy with rowdy teenagers best to drop off and collect rather than stay for a cuppa!
S. K.
I went for a solo skate during the day on a regular Thursday. Skates weren't sharp, as I was sliding all over the place. I asked for a sharper pair but was informed I had the sharpest pair. They are nice skates otherwise. In fairly good knick and clean. The rink I was on was lovely and big. I was just disappointed because I paid £7 and only stayed on the ice for about 15 mins due to the poor skates.
I am however looking forward to catching a hockey game sometime soon. So I'll do a different review for that.
M. R.
Absolutely brilliant night at the ice hockey as an away fan. The layout of the whole venue is superb; the lounge/bar as you first go in, the food and drink stalls dotted around inside the arena and the jumbotrons all make for a very professional set-up.
陳.
Miles better than any winter wonderland and easy to get to. Only complaint is the pricing which seems a little ridiculous. Nearly £10! Considering some other places around Europe charge half of that, VIOLA really is milking the fact that it’s the only ice rink for miles in Cardiff
J. T.
During our time here there was a very lovely girl called faith or faye who was extremely kind and made us feel very confident.
N. C.
Nice venue, although the area is a bit abandoned especially on a Sunday. It's a little chilly inside which is to be expected. Seats are a little cramped but not terrible, but the view from the seats is very good. Drink prices are expensive but on a par for a venue like this. Very good atmosphere on a match night.
S. F.
Beautiful Arena full of amazing and welcoming fans of a top notch Hockey Team. After out first game, we're proud to be devil's fans from now on. Great space, fair pricing and lots of fun.
N. J.
Good facilities experiencing when seeing Cardiff Devils ice hockey. Good value for money. My only gripes are the poor directional signage to the Arena from the main roads and the shocking coffee inside. Otherwise excellent.
T. H.
Great rink and decent quality facilities, the downsides are that every time we go the staff seem to be absorbed in talking to each other rather than to the customers. Also there is very little information available online or in the rink itself regarding membership or what is on offer. Also there are no skating times outside of Mon-Fri 9-5 for adults, so if you want to go in the evening it's either on family night (loads of kids) or disco night (loads of teenagers).
I. A.
Love going to watch the ice hockey here! Tickets aren't too expensive and the atmospheric is amazing when the Devil's are playing. Always good beer on tap and American style food outlet for drinks and snacks during the game
R. T.
Had a great evening watching the Cardiff devils kick some panther ass we won 7 -2. Great atmosphere and great game. My daughter went ice skating with her uncle before game they had a right laugh. Kids enjoyed their food burger and fries and curry and chips, even the security went and changed our hot chocolate cause it came out of vending machine like dish water fair play too him. If you like hockey or ice skating this is a great place, even if you don't they have swimming pool with a water park next door which myself and son went too we had a ball or there's the white water rafting close by too.
D. S.
No atmosphere, they have facilities to play music but don't, only ice rink I've been too with no music. Skates are lace up, didn't feel as secure as the buckle up type I've used elsewhere. Price reasonable, good facilities for drinks etc and plenty of lockers available.
A. S.
Brilliant. Always a good experience visiting here. A winner every time! 👏
J. W.
Amazing venue very friendly and welcoming on my first visit there.
Family friendly atmosphere with awesome action on the ice and spirited crowd without any nastiness or violence. I would say that anyone would feel safe here.
Looking forward to visiting again
B. V.
Very reasonably priced for a family for four to go I've skating. Good facilities and friendly staff. The skates you hire tho hurt your feet and are not very comfortable and the laces snap and have snapped on half of them.
C.
Great big rink with good facilities but going around in circles can get quite tedious for the experienced skater. It would be great if they may be introduced an obstacle course on a certain day. The cafe is atrocious. No healthy selection and the options that are available are disgusting. Cold nachos with no real cheese, whaaa! Just eat before you get here lol. Otherwise an enjoyable activity.
E. B.
Amazing atmosphere from the whole crowd, even as an away fan I still really enjoyed all the chants and songs. Everyone was really friendly and it made the whole experience really worth it. Parking was organised and plentiful and it was lovely to see how much the team really value their fans, with opportunities to win or buy merch and little foldable flappers so they could celebrate goals. Hope to bring some of that atmosphere and comraderie back to Guildford with us.
J. D.
Always greeted by warm and friendly smiles.
The Grazing Shed franchise insides' burgers are excellent.
For bang per buck, ice skating is one of the best for satisfaction guaranteed, after all, it's only water, right?
T. H.
Great arena very well laid out and easy to get to via transport links. Much nicer than the previous stadium my only issue is that you get numb bum sitting on those plastic seats.
a. p.
I did a one week ice skating crash course and learned quite a lot. You even get a free skate after each lesson. The arena is very big, on top of the ice skating rink, there a hockey rink (that I haven't visited yet). It's great to come here if you want to practice ice skating. Though I would go on weekdays instead of weekends because it can get pretty crowded. If you've never been ice skating, or you're a pro, I would come here.
J. G.
A great place to skate but quite expensive if you need to hire skates. It is going to cost you to take the family if you do not have any discount available. The quality of the hire skates is not that good and all the occasions that I have been have experienced straps coming loose, coming free, plastic broken etc. I spent most of my last sessions re-fastening my son's skates. Unfortunately I do not go frequently enough to purchase my own but would seriously consider it if I did.
Also be careful if you are paying full price to check to see if all the rink will be available as during holidays there can be lessons in the morning which reserve 1/3 of the rink. After paying full price and only staying for the morning this seems a little unfair.
s.
Awesome place to go watch some hockey, great team and the new rink is top notch, really good views where ever you sit. Fantastic evening for fans of hockey or someone new to the sport, won't be disappointed
T.
Love it there amazing atmosphere
S. S.
We travelled from Bristol for a public skate session today, the sessions are lengthy and you can stay the whole 3 hours, staff were friendly and helpful, I have a disabled son who was causing havoc while we were trying to get our shoes back and one of the lovely staff took him to one side and made an effort to keep him active by helping to out the skate aids away while we were sorting our shoes, there was also a big hockey game on in the other arena so hundreds of people, the stewards and staff did very well at keeping the two events separate and making sure everything ran smoothly, the only downside is there was only one steward on the ice who kept coming and going at intervals
D. W.
My son had his birthday party here on a friday night, junior disco. Prices are good and staff helpful. Queue for ice skates moved quickly and shoe collecting quick to. The kids had a brilliant time, would recommend even for younger children as the penguins were also free on that friday evening.
G. M.
Brilliant! It's now on my list of places to go with children when I've run out of ideas and it's raining. Easy parking, nice, friendly staff, good equipment and amazing value for money. Under £40 for 4 of us.
H. O.
Very nice place good rink
D. M.
Fantastic atmosphere in the arena! Easy entry and exit. A super fun evening!
Z.
Ice Arena Wales is one of the best places you can ice-skate, with prices that don't break the bank and skates which don't try to pull your feet off. It is amazing compared to any temporary rink and has good opening times. Well recommended👍
N. F.
So much fun! The staff were friendly and they had not problem teaching me and my friends how to skate properly! I'm sure I must have looked a fool slipping all over the place but for my first ice skating experience I have to say it was incredible!
P. F.
Great place for skating. If a little pricey during peak. Freindly staff. Nice vibe. Good music. Good boots but no straps. Ice resurfaced every few hours. Only thing is the cafe there could do with a little upscaling especially as there is not much else around for food.
K. S.
Watching the Cardiff devils is a great family day out
C. H.
Great place always have so much fun. Penguins should be free. There is always some laying around on the ice and everyone is happy sharing them. Plus noone needs them after they get their ice legs. X
D. S.
We had a really good time. Lots of friendly people, some 1st timers and some seasoned pros. Generally good value but Penguin assistants are expensive to hire but essential for kids who can't skate.
R.
Great Icerink. Good place to visit for families with kids. Great entertainment for you and yours friends. You can rent a skate here or bring yours own gear. The are actualy two separate icerinks: one very big and the another huge. The quality of the sound could be better. Also they didn't play the any famous hits or popular songs here, which is the shame
S. W.
Great rink, plenty of other sports available in same area
J. C.
Came to watch an ice hockey match here. Facilities are reasonably good and the concession stands are ok price wise. View is good and there is parking beside it. There are other sports facilities in the complex.
A. G.
Friendly rink and home to the Cardiff devils , the team shop staff were happy to chat and knowledgeable .
M. F.
Arena was well maintained and clean. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Always checked up on people when they fell down. However one member of staff would sometimes wiz round the ring at high speed brushing past adults very closely. He caused my brother to fall over at least once but was more careful with children.
R. g. c. P.
Excellent facility. 2 rinks so never have a problem getting a skate. Great venue for watching and playing I've ice hockey. Kids junior devil's is a great club
S. G.
The rink itself is excellent, however today is the second Sunday I've tried to skate and couldn't park because the are hosting an event. This costs me £5 in petrol. Cars were parked on pavements on grass on the road where the shouldn't be it is a hazard and if you're crazy enough to head in to the chaos to try and find a space be warned is not like a normal car park where you can drive around, you will have to reverse all the way or 50 point turn it assuming the cars that follows you down can do the same first. The arena has no business hosting events when they don't have the parking facilities to support it. They have the space where the old rink was fenced off, which I presume will one day be a car park but as no work seemed to have taken place there for months who knows. My advice avoid skating at weekends.
D. A.
16 and 11 year olds first time skating and really enjoyed their time here
G. I. S.
I went with a couple mates to watch the Cardiff Devils play a Czech team. It was my first time watching an Ice-Hockey game and it was THE BOMB. Atmosphere was great and ticket prices were decent - definitely a good outing!
N. D.
My Family enjoyed the skating but I did get a bit cross when A... they closed the end section on the rink durring one of the busiest public skates I've been to mean new skaters could not go round the rink with the help on the sides. I thought the other rink was for classes as the public rink is small so closing a proportion of it with lots of people on the ice made it feel very crowded...too crowded ..B....on a different occasion the three members of staff on the ice were messing about skating very very fast, doing tricks and going very close to young skaters and coming close to causing accidents. The staff didn't help members of the public they used the ice as their own private rink. I got cross when my 5 year old daughter got close to being knocked down but they didn't take any notice and continued to mess about...not very professional in my opinion.
J. W.
Great facility. Went to watch the Cardiff Devils (they battered Guildford). Great night, would definitely go back. Would have enjoyed it even more if we understood the rules a bit more.
p.
Could not recommend it more! An incredible experience of ice skating here for only £5! Staff were lovely and I could complain at all about my time there apart from a couple of bruises I sustained 😁.
g. r.
First time to watch ice hockey excellent night
W. d. i. f. t. v.
Grest place to watch ice hockey... bright modern & clean! Watched our nephew play u18's Cardiff Devils V Swindon. ⭐
R. T.
Such a nice way to spend time doing Outdoorsy activity indoors!
M. M.
Fabulous place, especially when the Cardiff Devils are playing. Good size public ice rink, as well as the Devil's ice rink. It also has food place and a bar and of course the Cardiff Devils gift shop.
J. M.
Great place, clean, tidy, great for the kids. Seems expensive at first but it's not just for an hour. Well worth going. Also the weather doesn't matter
D. K.
Very easy to find. Free parking. Best to arrive in the week as literally no people there. Right next to white water sports centre and swimming pool. The big ice rink is amazing.
S. G.
Fantastic place, however needs to add some vegan options
A. S.
WiFi needs to be boosted as it doesn't work half the time especially match days. Staff are friendly though.
A. S.
Nice ice and new facility. Changing room too small for the 3 of us and we had to keep finding staff to let us in as they wouldn't /couldn't give us a key. More drinking water fountains would be good.
B. T.
Brilliant venue....loved it!
L. G.
The rink is standard, nothing particularly special.
But I am disappointed with the first aid training. I took my little girl on Monday and she knocked me over pulling me onto her. She was hurt and quite upset so I was asked if I wanted her to have first aid, I said yes (of course).
The first aid consisted of the young lad looking at her arm and stomach, then giving her some ice. He made no attempt to see if anything was broken or if she needed anything. He made no attempt to fill out an accident report form.
I took my daughter up to a&e as a precaution and while nothing was broken, she is bruised and sore.
I think the training needs to focus on reassuring the injured party, checking fully that they’re fit to leave and making sure it’s all logged correctly.
My daughter had better treatment in Asda when she caught her hand on the trolley when she was 4, than her treatment in the rink when accidents must be often.
A. Q.
Nice arena, not enough bars when its busy. Helpful stewards
J. W.
Had a great time here ice skating. Lockers and skate hire available, free parking, easy access from the M4 via the bay link road without the hassle of getting into the city centre
D. B.
Me and 2 other people went for one of my friends birthday parties, I had a pretty good time however I experienced issues with a child who I felt was trying to trip me up. When I asked him what way he was going he simply did not say anything. So I said could you go of the bar (I am pretty new to ice skating) so I can go on and he said okay, then for about 5 seconds I got impatient because he just sat there so I decided to go out my comfort zone a little and decided to go around. As soon as I did he also tried to go around?? I was pretty annoyed about that. So I carried on going about and when they went past me twice they just sat smirking at me. I was going around and reproached them and they were again just sat there. My friend came and told them to move aside and then he claimed he did nothing wrong. I then just said to leave it, this is the important part of what I hate about this place. An aggressive looking security guard came up to me full red and frowning at us. I already felt a little intimidated me being a 13 year old. He then asked what they did I simply explained to them they tried to push me and was smirking. Then he started spitting words saying "oh we were watching you they didn't mate first and final warning next time your out" They then said that they were watching which I highly doubt because if they were they would of saw what were happening. I feel like they were being biased to the younger person. They had zero way of looking at us, most windows were shut and some were empty. There was no CCTV. My friend (the person having a birthday) claimed they were skating around doing their thing. Sure there is a one out of a million chance he was randomly starting at 5 kids but that is silly. Even if all this was wrong he could of at least been a little less aggressive and not look like he wanted to kill us. Other than that it is a good place, we had a blast until the security stepped in and starting biting at us. If you come here here is a tip: DON'T TALK TO PEOPLE, DON'T TALK BACK, DON'T GET IN TROUBLE WITH SECURITY they will kill you!
S. F.
What an amazing trip ! 1st ever visit to the Ice Hockey and wasn't disapointed. We took our daughter as part of a birthday weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
C. L.
Went to see the Devils - very well organised, great idea having several bars and toilets.. It helps! Toilets though needed a little bit more cleaning.
M. G.
Very nice building and great main rink for hockey. Changing rooms are half the size needed for hockey though and the food is terrible. The options consisted of burgers, chips and vending machines. IAW didn't respond to my email or tweet about this and just deleted my Facebook post.
A shame really, improve the food and it would be 5/5
J. B.
Impressive ice rink, actually has two rinks, the large arena and a leisure rink. Very clean and well kept. Drinks and food available for reasonable prices and a good skate shop.
c.
Was a great place to go, would go again
J. K.
If you love ice skate you'll be back again🙂
D. C.
I watched the Cage Warriors 104 there last night.....the place was packed.... There are toilets all over and bars spotted around the arena....so never really had too wait long for either one. It might sound obvious but If you arent an usual Ice Rink goer then make sure you take a jacket lol....i was sat 10m from the cage and even though they put black matting over the ice my feet were ice cold. Good experience all round......
H. G.
Love this place. Gets busy on weekends and school holidays. I prefer to go first thing in the morning at 10am so I got the rink to myself to practice. Friendly staff always helpful.
M. A.
My children attended a birthday party here they loved it, all seemed well organised. The first thing You notice is the difference in temperature so make sure you bring extra layers just in case. If your child is not used to skating you can hire a penguin for an extra charge. For the party food it was either burger, nuggets or fish fingers with chips, for the parents waiting, there is a fast food counter where you can get a coffee etc.
P. P.
Bar is not overly priced, toilets are a plenty, atmosphere is great... it would be better if food was served in more places - small fast food vendors and the like upstairs would be ideal.
E. E.
Great place - attended many Davila games - always very organised and well run. Nice atmosphere for families too and now Grazing Shed do the food, it’s blooming marvellous!
A. W.
Fabulous atmosphere for the whole match. Good facilities so would strongly recommend a visit on match day or for recreational skate.
S. D.
1st time here and I loved it. Watched an amazing game, the atmosphere was electric and not an expensive venue. Will definitely be going back 👍👍
B.
Great venue. Watched cage warriors 100 and Polaris 8. Obviously take a coat it gets cold in there! Drink were good price
Z. I. R.
Great place. Prices are good too. We lovely it. We always stay 2 hours. Plenty of lockers and spaces to rest with cup if tea.
P. B.
Amazing to go ice skating. Lots of space ans fun. But I wish they would re-do the ice in between one session because it gets really hard to properly skate on it, especially for beginners.
M. G.
Full sized rink (just for public use, has other rink for events), ice kept in good condition. Hire skates reasonable. Student discount only available set times/days
A. W.
First time ever watching ice hockey. It wont be my last. Great venue with an electric atmosphere. Good fun for all the family. Highly recommend
N. J.
Don't forget to wrap up warm
H. S.
In the middle of no where, but a great new facility and it's huge! The cafe could do with improvements to match the rest of the facility, not a very good selection of food. The cafe staff also weren't very good when I visited. Cafe aside, the rink is superb.
A. S.
Obviously ice skating is going to be a ball, you could stick a kid in a frozen horse box & they'd have a laugh but they ain't footing the bill are they. It's hugely expensive & it's not like they're paying amazing, helpful people to properly monitor the folk on the ice, the skates are utter rubbish really so I presume it's just very expensive to keep the ice cold, that must explain the massive costs, saying that, if you go during extremely hot weather, don't be surprised if you find them closed, perhaps the expensive entry fee doesn't always keep the ice frozen !!!
D. H.
Love this place.
I am at the arena 3-5 times a week with the cardiff and junior Devils.
We have two ice pads. One is for the public scating and is used as a back up rink if there is something on in the main pad and the other pad is the main competition rink. This is where the devils play, competitions happen and the scating practice happens. Sometimes the rink gets taken out and things like boxing happen there. There is other things there. Visit the website to see what is happening there!!
s. v.
Let's go Devils!
Unbeatable atmosphere.
C. P.
I’ve been to Cardiff ⛸ ring before and I had fun but I pulled a muscle back of my right 🦵and I was 💭 of getting lessons there once the COVID 19 cases drop down a bit.
S. O.
Great new ice rink for the Cardiff Devils. Would be 5 stars but they only accept cash as payment at the bar for food and drinks
N. E.
Great atmosphere absolutey loved it.
G. M.
This ice arena is 2 years old and is home to the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team 2016-17 triple champions.
There are two pads with no 1 being the main arena, and pad 2 for public skate, junior ice hockey games and student disco. Facilities are good. However, they still havent bothered installing public WiFi which is crazy these days considering other sport facilities do.
k. j.
Fab atmosphere would highly recommend. Everyone is so friendly
g.
I skating every wednesday during the public session with my friends. Thanks to my friends and several other friendly skaters who gave me lots of advice and pointers which helped my learn to skate.
Prices can be a bit off-putting until you get an ICE card and your own pair of skates but otherwise iceskating here is fun and enjoyable. With the new stadium currently under construction right next door I look forward to progressing with my skating
D. F.
Fantastic, we always enjoy a couple hours on the ice!
K.
Referring to the Ice Hockey in particular: The atmosphere doesn't quite live up to the hype that the arena got but it's still a great night out and would recommend anyone experience it.
M. C.
Great skating arena, however tills are a bit too slow. Some more benches around the rink would be helpful.
M. P.
Home of the Cardiff Devils. Great sight lines for the matches. Two pads including public skating too. Fitting home of Cardiff ice sports. The only bad thing is the telephone signal.
L. H.
A season ticket holder for the Cardiff Devils and my son plays for the Cardiff junior Devils so I'm a regular here. Staff are always friendly and welcoming
p. d.
Went to watch junior devils ice hockey match,it's a pity more people dont turn up, I enjoyed it.They have fast food down there it's quite good.
A.
A good I've rink, first time here and experience was good. Hire was straight forward and kids used a penguin which was £5 for an hour.
G. B.
We have been here many times to watch the cardiff devils play. The facilities are good and theres plenty of places to get food and drink inside.
T. T.
A clock would be useful so we know how long is left on the session.
C. M.
Went here to watch my first game of ice hockey. Very good atmosphere and plenty going on during the breaks between phases.
D. G.
Recently built ice rink. Friendly staff. Didn't try the cafe. Penguin stabilisers a bit expensive. Overall great experience for the family.
G. J.
The only issue I have is when all the sudden they will close a big chunk of a ring off for people to have private lessons/parties and you have a lot of skaters in one tiny bit so I think it's a bit unfair especially the amount of money you pay to skate..but apart from that well happy!
T. W.
Great place for watching Cardiff devils or for ice skating . Absolutely fantastic place and I can't say anything bad about them.
E. B.
Great atmosphere during the game
p. r.
Really good skating
D.
Awesome ice skating pad with good hire boots. I've been here quite a few times now with various people and it's been perfect every time.
I. M.
Great atmosphere on my first ever visit. Took my boy and once he got into it, he loved it. People were very friendly and great for a family.
S. D.
Nice arena. Far better than the omd place.
Plenty of facilities with free parking which is a bonus.
Well impressed with the new look arena.
A.
-Great fun
-Spacious
J. B.
Good place to practice skating and to watch Devils play on the main rink. Friendly and helpful staff as well
E. E.
Great ice rink. Good seating and atmosphere. Bar should be selling coffee on match days...
K. R.
The old, temporary rink was bigger and the walls already seem to have damp in them, but the ice and skates are well maintained so all in all I enjoy it
W. M.
Good stadium shame about the result for my first devil's game... Would have been if the Coventry and Cardiff results had been switched....😟
J. W.
The family and I love skating here.
I would give 5 stars if they only knew how to make a coffee!
J. 1.
Great time with the kids. Need a bigger car park. I had to park in Morrison across the road which gives you 3 hours free parking.
D. B.
Great atmosphere at the ice hockey games. On site catering is better than other sports venues.
N. N.
Nice family day out . The kids serving you on the desk could be a bit friendlier though. But overall enjoyed thank you.
S. D.

R. M.
Great fun ice skating and if your lucky you can catch the ice hockey practice.
B. N.
Really great fun. The weather was bad, but it was not to busy. Kids really enjoyed being able to have the time to learn
A. G.
First time my 3yr old son has been skating and he was petrified. 2mins with one of the staff Faye (pink hair) and he was off like a rocket. Can't thank her enough for all her help
L. I.
Great atmosphere shame that the Devils lost! :(
A. D.
Good family day out friendly staff. Excellent wirh everything you can think of for skaters.
C. S.
Great place to take the kid for a state or even to watch a game of ice hockey even better the fact you can learn to play hockey there as well
J. L.
Love it. Skated for 5.5 hrs with family and cost close to nothing compared to others. Love it. But unfortunately too far for us to come back.
H. C.
Good. The cafe (upstairs) wasn't open when we visited. Kids loved the skating, had a really good time, I want to go next time!

At last after a long wait, Cardiff has a permanent ice rink in Cardiff, and the wait has been worth it. Two rinks, and brilliant fasilaties.
K. S.
Went to watch an ice hockey game. Good atmosphere enjoyed the game would recommend.
D. E.
Absoultely great place, get down for a public skate, watch the devils ice hockey or even some rec hockey!

Devils ice hockey team home ice arena, very exciting to watch and support but when going for a game take cash with you as they don't card payment for food purchase
J. S.
Cool place for all the family. Great fun! Will wear You out :-) worth a try! ..and coming back :-)
C. W.
Came here a while back after not having been ice skating for years, everyone was helpful and friendly and I ended up having a great time.
K. J.
Superb place for practicing your skate moves
Or hanging out with the family, better than jogging for sure and more sociable.
M. P.
Lovely but lots of tiny children as an older person will have to go when quieter to be able to gain confidence
M. M.
Fab evening at the ice hockey. Something a lil different to do on a Sunday evening rather than staying in watching the TV. Players are entertaining especially when they argue lol (soz!)
A. S.
Very basic place. Food typical fast-food. But ice is cold, hard and slippery. Good fun.
J. R.
Great game between Coventry and Cardiff

Two ice pads and new home for the Devils. Match night is a great atmosphere
c. b.
Great ice-skating rink. Also found that it was convenient to have a small food cafeteria in the rink as well
J. D.
Love watching the Devil's at the arena but be aware, food is expensive and for events you're not allowed to take in your own drinks, not even water.
G. T.
Great entertainment watching the Cardiff Devil's. Need to book in advance as quickly sells out.

Overpriced and the service is mediocre, but ice skating is fun so we will be going back.
j. f.
I like watching the devils here shame it’s not a bigger capacity as they seem to be selling out a lot, I would give it more stars if the bar area didn’t look like a conference room no devils memorabilia it’s a soulless bar area
N. Č.
Modern ice hall, great atmosphere, always packed for Cardiff Devils matches. 😈
A. L.
