Reviews of The Dome
This was a grand centre to go swimming at, where the suitably coloured signs provide clear directions to the pool and the staff ensured everyone had entered correctly. A big splash session at the pool is priced cheaply at £7.50 per person and the experience was amazing, featuring three different slides that included a duo one, though my favourite was the red dragon since it was a direct fast slide with epic curves and lighting! Other special areas were the two hot tubs and the outdoor swimming around a replica rock, the latter of which gave the rarity of rapids. The changing rooms were clean, tidy and well-organized with the appropriate facilities, where I made my way to down a spiralling staircase! I was able to pick up a Feast ice lolly at the centre, sold for a reasonable price under £2.
Absolutely fantastic place ! My 6 year old didn’t want to leave ! I still think Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool is superior for anyone looking for a day out with family but I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wondering if they should visit. The staff were absolutely fabulous , very friendly and would highly recommend this place
We had a day at the dome! Firstly we went ice skating we had to que up but it was very quick getting in and the que for getting boots was relatively quick aswell. The staff were pleasent. On the rink there were a few catastrophes one young lad get wheeled off in the chair. But the staff on the ice were very quick to respond once made aware of situations and the kids that fell down they were checking they were OK including my youngest he has come out with some war wounds on both elbows.
WE had a little snack in the cafe at top 2 young lads serving very friendly happy too assit when needed. food pretty decent and fair prices.
Then we qued for swimming! Was very quick going in. Lockers big enough for big bags bonus is you get your money back from locker. There's pleanty of activities in swimming to keep adults and kids of all ages occupied. The slides and pools are well manned. The black slide tho omg I screamed there's a section in it that I felt like I had took off and none of my body was attached to the slide and let out a mighty yelp.
Overall ace day we all enjoyed it and kids can't wait to go back.
Great day out with three generations. Kids loved all the water slides- so much longer than they were expecting. Plenty of changing rooms and lockers with lots of room inside for the whole family. Life guards around for safety. Stopped off in The Icebreaker for lunch. Good value with plenty of choice. Great service from Claire- friendly, cheerful, helpful. Well done Claire.
Great venue. We went swimming in the splash pool. Helpful, friendly staff! Clean and spacious changing rooms. Plenty of showers that were warm and powerful
My daughter's only complaint was that the hairdryers were not working. We will definitely be coming again
Great experience at the dome, let down by greed. We had prebooked swimming and ice skating, but weren't aware there was extra necessary expenses you have no choice but to buy. First is the penguin you have to rent for children to ice skate; £6 each!!! The 3 we rented were wasted since the children immediately disliked ice skating. No problem thought we, they can go to soft play which is conveniently located just outside the ice rink. £4.50 each!!! £31.50 extra is like another day out with nothing to show for it but hatred in exchange for a child's happiness. Very sneaky dome, very sneaky. And that sneakiness left a bitter taste in our mouths.
In better news, swimming was a blast and will be the sole reason we return. Clean facilities, great array of slides, great staff and lifeguards too who are really on the ball and ensure everyone is safe. And best of all, no strings attached!
First visit today with 3 teenagers. We did ice skating in the morning, swimming in the afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Everything was efficiently run, the staff were all helpful & friendly. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. There were very minor issues like the hairdryers not working in the pool changing rooms & one of the slides was out of action but for value for money & overall experience we couldn't fault it & will definitely return.
Maybe could be made aware on your website that the swimming is fully booked, rather than finding out when we got there
The kids love the place and we drove for an hour, to be told that it was fully booked, even though the website said nothing of the sort??
Communication is key
Went here for a rock concert, queued for over an hour and ended up missing the first support act, and the staff/security needs improvement. Granted this might have not have had anything to do with The Dome itself. However, it was boiling hot inside the gig, some AC would be great.
The balcony seats were nice and stacked but the front row could be slightly restricted view because of the tinted glass and the metal pattern on it (I don't have a decent picture of this, but they're like squares in between each bit of separated glass)
Overall not a bad venue, just a few tweaks needed.
Great place, went to watch UK strongest women and view of athletes and events was great in the arena.
Top that off with free Parking can’t grumble at all.
Decent swimming bath's, few slides ranging in suitability for young kids/family to older kids and adults that like something a little faster. Pools are decent with access to an outside area. I have to be honest though this place always smells very strongly of chlorine compared to other south Yorkshire swimming bath's. Sure there's a saying that the stronger the chlorine smell the dirtier the water is but that's just speculation. This place does get busy but there's plenty of space for everyone and plenty of changing rooms and lockers. All in all I will go again.
Has some good facilities, but has so much potential to be better with better management. The cafes inside are terrible! And the bike track outside only caters to a small group of road cyclists, when it had the potential to be a local biking facility to benefit hundreds each week like other urban bike parks.
Went in the school holidays. Limited number of tickets per session made it feel busy but not crowded. Staff all had smiles on, pleasant and my daughter thought the slides were brilliant. We will definitely return
My family and I had a lovely time at The Dome, Doncaster. We opted for the Big Splash swimming session. All the slides were open and available as well as the rapids.
The staff were friendly and the price was decent too. I had to buy my 5 year old some armbands and they were a reasonable price of £5.
To use the lockers, you have to have a £1 coin, you will get this back after your swim session.
There are 2 car parks that are available for free parking, these are close to The Dome.
Normally hate swimming pools and ice rinks and this one was no different but to be honest it's probably better than a lot of others.
Certainly the ice skating was cheap and fun compared to some places I could mention.
Swimming pool was ok, a few fun slides and you can even go outside weather permitting .
Not a bad place to go for a bit of fun.
I just don't like swimming pools .. it's my problem I know .. I am seeking help
The dome is a great place to go swimming or ice skating with your family or friends. But the down side to the dome would be their gym as the equipment is very old and looking like it’s going to fall apart. Overall though for a good day out the dome is a perfect location as after your activities you can go grab some food from the take away across the road.
Tried The Dome as somewhere different for the kids. This was a great choice as there is so much here for kids of all ages. The kiddie section is separated from the larger pool as is the deep pool separated from leisure pool which can be accessed by a small slide. There are various slides of different types which were all open to use and an outdoor heated lazy river. Pool time is about 1.5 hours which is better than most places. However the changing rooms are chaotic since they are unisex. There are plenty of changing rooms but expect to queue for them. Showers are lacking in quantity for the size of the changing rooms.
Went swimming, we had to book on line . There was a large queue of people ,hot , waiting to be let in.
It was so hot in the changing rooms. You need a £1 coin or trolley token for the lockers.
The water was cool refreshing, there are various large slides all great fun. There's a deep end which is better for swimming. The children's pool is very shallow and warm. The middle pool and outdoor pool was very popular. There's various water spouts and fall and 2 jacuzzis.
The session lasts 1.30 hrs. Out at the entrance there's a café and various vending machines.
Great value and lots of fun. It may not be the newest water park, but it's always very clean and the kids love it. You'll struggle to find better value for a water park.
Well worth a visit, a splendid time was had by all! The comiccons are Back! A year after Covid it's so busy with folks, good to be back!.....
Wonderful leisure centre. Pool is great fun with kids, and us big ones. Pre booking keeps it from being too busy. Ques for the slides were almost non existent.
I had fabulous fun with my young son the flumes and slides are great the facility is well designed.
We didn't try the skating because I have no sense of balance.
We drive here instead of 2 other more local swimming baths as there's an outside area you swim into, where there's sun loungers and rapids that slowly push you round. There's 2 big slides for bigger kids and play area for smaller children. It's clean, toilets clean. We haven't been ice skating for a while but it was nice when we did go. There's other things to do too. And a large Asda over the road for a cheaper dinner (or swimwear if you forget yours!) 😊
The staff today during the 12-1.30 Ice skating especially the 2 guys on the desk were fantastic and very polite. They helped us without question. The staff at the restaurant were also very polite and accommodating to help the kids.
Couldn't fault the staff, the food wasnt amazing especially for the price when 5 of us ate, the kids wouldnt touch the chips (which for 3 chip loving kids was rare) and 1 left all the nuggets 1 ate them because he was starving and wanted the food but didnt like them massively. The chips for pulled pork were under cooked.
Wont stop us coming again as its a fab place, however will bring a pack up next time and give the food a miss.
Always love this place, but I must state that you must book on line and stick to the slot you've booked. The slot consists of a 1.30hr slot. Please make sure if your going ice skating you book for both..
Perfect place for family, here is the swimming area, family fun with ice skating and have gym, have place to play many sport games and can have some lunch. For small ones have play soft area
Saw YUNGBLUD and Louis Tomlinson here. Both times were so special and sweet as they’re from Doncaster and the singers acknowledged me from within the crowd, however I wish the venue itself was slightly better in the terms that the sound quality wasn’t the greatest and it was also a little too warm. On top of this, the staff weren’t prepared for the impact of Louis Tomlinson fans and disappeared off somewhere in frustration instead of helping with queueing once the merch stand opened - this was instead left down to fans who got overwhelmed and frustrated themselves.
Great location offering so many events .swimming pool and ice rink there too. Lots of parking facilities and bar staff very good
MORRISSEY was playing, great night, brilliant venue 🎶🎸🤠
Excellent night at Meat Loaf concert. Good organisation. Drink prices a bit steep but only to be expected I suppose.
Nice spot of swimming with the fam today. Nice and quiet. All the bits where shut so it was just the pool for us today. We weren't from town but felt welcome. Lots for the child to do in the shallow pool, he loved it. Reasonably warm temp of water too. Well worth a go if your in the area.
Came here for the cycling world champs. . The venue is ideal for this event, plenty of parking for the coaches, cars and medical response. The hall was packed with school children who came to support the event. Doncaster must be proud to host such an event. Amazing couple of days in this town.
Only went swimming but my boys, 8 & 9, absolutely loved it. Plenty to entertain them for the 1.5 hours you get. Loads of slides and separate areas. Even a nice area for toddlers. Plus fast food restaurants all just across the street. Definitely would recommend.
We went too see Jason Manfords tour at the venue. Great location and ample free car parking. Inside the venue is a moderately sized bar, which although well stocked, it's a little too expensive. The concert hall is excellent. There's ample, on the floor seating, which is all one level but then there is tired seating, which is still very close to the stage so it offered great, slightly raised views... Great venue A+
Been going here for about 8 years and it's still our favourite place even though we live in Sheffield. Since Covid the pool has been in a state of disrepair and each time we go it gets worse. The waterfall and spouts are no longer on when the raging river is on. To be honest it doesn't rage anymore either, there is barely a difference. Some of the steps are blocked off and the white slides weren't open today. It also needs some painting doing. Hopefully there is a plan to restore it back to how it was 3-4 years ago.
Went swimming with my 8 year old son and he loved it especially all the slides and whirlpool 👏🏻 water nice and warm and the changing rooms where very clean
Love going ice skating here with my daughter great fun and reasonable price .. Will be going again deffinatley
Brought my 2 grandsons here in school holidays. We live in Barnsley and they prefer this much more than Pirates cove there. Booking on line was easy, got there bit early and had to queue but it was well organized with staff scanning my tickets while in queue so once door opened you could go straight in. Our time was 11-00 till 12-30 and even though busy there was no waiting time inside for slides etc, I have seen it much busier before covid. Highly recommend this leisure centre and will certainly be back.
Great pools, could be better maintained. No hairdryer, showers far too hot for kids
Enjoyed our skating experience and after 20 years I can still state - just. Some of the kids loved it, other one tried but couldn't get going.
Great for a bit of easy family fun that you can turn into a full day out, if you combine all of the available activities into the same day.
The pool is ideal to for keeping children entertained, probably up to the age of 13, even if the session only lasts 90 mins. The slides, outdoor pool and mixture of swimming areas stop it feeling too crowded or overwhelming. The changing rooms are well laid out, clean and you'll never find it tough to find a place to get changed or to find a locker to put your belongings in - just remember to bring a £1 coin per locker you wish to use.
The ice skating is a brilliant way to do something different and is split across two levels so everyone from experienced skaters to novices can enjoy themselves. For younger children or those unsteady on their feet there is also small penguins you can hire to help out.
Finally, there is a large indoor soft play area you can use to finally tire out all of the kids and give the adults some time to relax with a coffee. Ideal for those under 11 and with plenty of room for a whole party load of youngsters if you need to keep everyone entertained for another 90mins.
All in all - the Dome has something for everyone and with a cinema, shops and a wide choice of places to eat only across the road, provides all you need to fill a day during the weekend or school holidays.
Well organised for the volume of people booked in for each swimming session. Cleaning in-between sessions. Little one loved it! Outside was lovely and warm. Worth the drive from Grimsby. Recommend.
Great fun for our family, kids loved it. Ice skating and swimming, lots of fun and exciting experience we all had. We will be back for more fun later in the future.
I’m a teen of the 90’s so I remember when this opened, it was big news, and over the decades it has not disappointed. The dome is still as relevant today as it always has been. It is a great place to visit
Great staff, very nice people. Had an amazing expierience on Louis Tomlinson show yesterday :)
Enjoyed ice skating, all skill levels. Friendly staff and atmosphere.
Excellent customer service and the younger male life guards are amazing at inspiring and encouraging kids to try the slides and build their confidence (not actually spoke with any of the other life guards just stating on the experience I've had)
Great Venue for the gig we saw ( Morrissey ) only downside the bar is way too small and the queuing was horrendous...
Event Centre with ample space for all kinds of events. They have collapsible stadium seat like centre (indoors) and carpeted. All convenience ok!
Don't mind the swimming here see only problem is the let too many people in if you go on a Saturday or in the holidays you'll be lucky to walk about in the pool it's parts you always bumping into people and the queues for the slide last about 15 minutes which to say you only get up to an hour is a bit stupid it is a really good time but I do recommend go in either early or on the last session so usually not that busy you can get the most out of it
Come here sometimes to iceskating, reasonably priced and lots of fun. Available for all ages. They also have a swimming pool too with some slides , a lane for swimming lengths and an outdoor part with Rapids. Parking isn't great as there are not alot of spaces for the amount of activities they provide however overall is a nice place to visit.
ABBA show was very good but too many groups (in audience) talking loudly over singing too much movement for drinks and dancing.
Great venue, friendly staff, will definitely be back.
Ice arena is decent yet the workers that maintain the ice aren't as good as they should be.They miss most of edges outs on the sides however the staff are nice and will ask if you ok when you fall.
We had a brilliant time here, some of the fixtures and fittings are showing there age but doesn't stop you having plenty of fun.
It brilliant place for day out and there very clean place and good tidy area and system for people queue worth go there better book online
Great place for all sorts, me and my daughter go swimming here twice a week. The water is warmer in the mornings and theres less idiots.
It's a good place for conferences at the dome has the capacity to hold a large crowd, I haven't used the leisure facilities.
Friendly place, staff etc. Husband and step daughter had tea in the icebreaker bar whilst I went to do combat class. Good around. 👍
Great modern facilities for all kinds of conferences, family fun and other activities. Lots of parking and secure parking space available.
A good cheap starter water park with a mixture of slide types for all ages as well as an outdoor area with rapids.
Swimming pool is great for kids. Ideal day out with family. Good price too
Great show... well organised and for a very worthy cause... staffing friendly as were the cast... a very enjoyable evening... only criticism was having to leave through the back entrance through puddles in the dark creating a far longer walk as they had closed the main entrance... well done to all involved in its organisation.
The dome is a great place to take kids. As it's currently half term, we headed for the big splash. It's our first visit where either of our girls were tall enough to go on the large slides. Our older daughter loved both of them. The only problem, at the moment due to covid, they only get 1.5 hours on the swimming.
Following this we had an hour to kill before we headed to the ice skating rink. This was going to be their first attempt at ice skating. Both our girls were so excited to be going and after the initial drinking out on to the ice, and finding it to be very slippery, they both started to move and the rink. By the end of the session, our 5 year old was off by herself, pushing her penguin and having a great time. Our 7 year old was doing well, but still need the sort of either mum or dad. We plan to go again, when we have chance.
Dclt have an offer where you can get 20% reduction, but it's not explained how to do this. Essentially you need to book one of the events, and rather than paying for your basket, you need to hear back in to choose the other event, and then the deduction should be made.
All in all, a good day.
Our girls are 5 and 7 years old.
Great place for ice-skating, swimming and also for the different events they have on here.
Well having not been for 31 years it was amazing to go back! The skating rink hasn't changed! But the dome has updated!
We went swimming and it was really well done with booking in place at present, staff were really good at keeping an eye and helping with a friendly manner. We loved it! With plenty of free parking too it's so easy!
Never been here before, took our family out for ice skating, we usally go to our local one in hull but for some reason they've changed the evening session to under 18s only so this was perfect only an hour away from hull. Although its a lot smaller and and be quite packed on the rink its definitely worth it for an alternative place.
Great time with the grandchildren and daughter. Travelled around 30 miles. Lovely clean changing rooms. Only let in a certain amount of people and were allocated 2hrs
The kids 11 and 5 both had great fun. Outside area is a bit shabby but the kids still enjoyed it. Couldn't get a shower afterwards weren't queue was horrific. Obviously not enough for capacity and hairdryers didn't work but this on the whole never spoilt a lovely 2hrs swim.
Fantastic day out! Pool was clean and lifeguards very attentive! Highly recommend for day out
Took our 2 year old daughter here for the Big Splash. Staff were friendly and general atmosphere was that everyone was having a great time and it was good fun. However there are a lot of areas of rust in the swimming pools and this was most annoying / hazardous in the toddler pool area where the play frame had such bad rust before going on the uppermost slide the platform is so sharp I scratched my own feet on it! Also it's very cold - the air temperature and the pools. It could do with a real deep clean and some tlc. Paint on the rapids was also peeled off.
Softplay - Kids loved it. 90 minutes came and went very quickly.
Swimming - Spent 90% of the time going on the family friendly slide. Absolutely knackering.
A far cry from when the venue first opened, and looks a little dated now, but still offers a good solid range of facilities for the local area, and also plays host to a good mix of trade shows, performances, concerts etc in the main hall area. Bar and food facilities also on site, along with beauty facilities.
Me and my daughter had a lovely day swimming and thought we would come to the icebreaker pub and kitchen inside the dome. Naomi and Declan the staff are very welcoming and polite and also the food was lovely. We will definitely be coming back again Thankyou 😊
Very interesting rink with a hill. Sadly far too busy but it is Christmas time. Busy due to the amount of people with no idea how to stop going down the slope at once. The review sounds negative but it's the most different rink I've ever been to and awesome. Just maybe I need to go at a less crowded occasion!
Visited The Dome and Doncaster for the first time.We were only there for a competition which took place in the main arena. My first impression was that the place looked to have a lot going on there.
Ice skating/swimming etc It also seems like a venue for evening entertainment /shows. So what's not to like, something for the whole family .
Really intimate venue with good sound. Saw Morrissey there. Legend!
The pleace is nice end the workers are welcoming ,but I was refused to take a video or photo of my self simming .
There’s a lot to do there always a good day out haven’t been in a while so it could be updated but I remember the swimming changing rooms smelling bad and mold but as I say it’s been a while since I’ve been
Went to see Jason Malford on Saturday 26th March with my mum for mother's day and we both throughly enjoyed it. Only thing I would say is that was nowhere to eat inside the dome however just over the road there are many restaurants so we were fine. Very busy however we got parked early enough and only had to wait approx 10 minutes to get out of the car park and on our way home. All round a fantastic evening
Ice skating was great value, filled a school holiday day for less than £20 here and did loads!
We all love the swimming here. The best we have been too.
Great place for families. Swimming and ice skating.
We come here for the annual UK martial arts show which is fantastic.
Love it here! So reasonable and the wild waters outside bit it so much fun!
Great place to take the family, plenty to do and even more within a stone's throw.
New gym layout awesome, new steam room and sauna, new entrance in parking lot and new modern automatic membership card activated doors.
Cant fault
Drinks are ok
Serve hotdogs
Great seating
I was there for a specific event and in that respect the areas we had access to were BRILLIANT!
The availability of food on the day was very poor for the number of people attending.
What a great afternoon, saved 20% by booking swim and ice skating combined for the day, covid practice still in place and constant, staff pleasant and helpful, well done 🙂,
Fantastic night at the Elvis show, really enjoyed it 😀
Visited. Not for the leisure facilities but for a Jason manford comedy club. The seats that we were in where near the back but we could still see Jason. The only thing that gave a slight block was the balustrades for the glass Bannister. I think that service at the bar could be made a little bit slicker maybe by reducing the amount of products that are on offer or by serving more bottled rather than draught as there was a huge queue on arrival and during the interlude
Great swimming centre. Just be careful as most slides are not available for children with arm bands.
Great place to go swimming and take the kids, pool and changing rooms were nice and clean
Grandkids love the play area. Had loads of fun xx
Great for a fun time. I've skating here is fun and relatively cheap. Would recommend
Went for little girl birthday so she could try her new ice skates out she loved it ❤️
This place is brilliant the prices are so cheap.the swimming area is brilliant I would highly recommend
Take the kids here every hoildays for the swim and ice skating as it's a great deal but this time we went the water was freezing and didn't it enjoy it so got out early than usual! But apart from that staff always friendly and the place is clean it's self plus the kids love it!
It was fun but a bit cold in the water and the kids struggled a bit and we left when the 4 year olds lips were starting to go blue. The snake ride was good fun but I should probably remember that I am getting closer to 40 🤣. It would be a five star if my bits didn't hibernate when I got in the water.
Lovely place very helpful staff plenty of parking and a lovely restaurant food smells gorgeous just as nice
Not busy great slides but not that clean and lots of different stuff to do to
I get off on the bus to walk into lakeside not been in the dome for few years but bet it still nice sorry not been in the done for ages
Good value for money. Great for families. Went ice skating. Very friendly staff.
Took my three year old swimming at the swim 4 all session. The pools were nice and quiet, very attentive staff, nice warm water. My daughter loved the water slides. Great value.
I'm going to give 4* it would be 5* but the queing for swimming makes no sense. We got there 20 minutes early and got told to wait at a sign near the main door, to then scan tickets to go in the que. Don't understand what difference it makes to be in the que and scan tickets...
If anything it creates congestion at the front door waiting around there for tickets to be scanned.
The staff were great though, especially the men sorting shoes at ice-skating.
Great place to swim and something a bit different! Really like the outdoors swimming and fast water rapids. The slides are also still very good if you're looking for something more fast paced.
Disappointed that quite a few utlitilies was closed when I visited such as the Jacuzzis and one of the slides as they were not not prepared for the amount of people they let in despite the 'reduced numbers'. Worth the price however I can't think of a reason to return as I did what I wanted to do there.
Went swimming on Saturday with family not bad the attendants bit quick with whistle overall not bad
Had a great night
Friendly staff, clean toilets. Didn't know I'd go from seeing Louis Tomlinson at Wembley Arena to seeing him in some sort of gym in his hometown but here we are!
Absolutely great family day out! Swimming pool is good (if you don't mind the odd plaster floating around).
Good choice of water slides for families and the river rapids are just the right side of dangerous
This is definitely out of all the yorkshire pools, I personally think this is the warmest and the most all round fun for everyone.
I've been coming here since I was a Child and have so many good memories so it was nice to bring my baby and she had the most fun out of all the pools there is even a side for all families perfect the life guards are on it too which is brilliant and I wasn't freezing one bit! Result!!!
Busy due to school holidays so had to book in advance. Well organised, friendly staff, lots of fun. Reasonably priced for the fun we had.
Brilliant had so much fun would recommend to anyone the out door pool was Brilliant
Is always very busy and this time the red slide was closed and not working they said it had been closed for 3 days before that
Leisure pool.is great fun, well staffed and changing area was nice and clean.
It not as good at it was before now is to much hassle with booking and staff are more expensive then before for less time as well.
Splash to go with family of 3 is over 20£ for 1h.30min sessions is not all day i guessing is to keep track and have less people at same time to keep control over Covid.
I think is shut be all in Membership so gym swim all types. Maybe skating saprate but 8f that will be included Dclt could be potentially best gym complex in Doncaster this way is just not same as it use to be .
Will try some food and come for some show and see how that work and how it is generally.
Is still good gym is nice size locker are tide no toilets there in locker room.
Sauna good but no shower only in locker room is not far but still.
Swimming sessions are good but not much space to swim maybe because is halft term.
Friendly staff, excellent pool and facilities including pool, ice rink and various food establishments.
Swimming pool is usually dirty and place overall seems somewhat rundown, but has a good amount of things to do.
Great place, we go for skating and swimming idealy book in advance staff are friendley and helpfull ..large free carpark and asda and mcdonalds over the road
Been to the Fun Cycling event today. First time we've been to the new ish cycle track. We hired bikes and helmets and had a few laps of the track. There was a race which the kids enjoyed. As a one off there was a Weird and Wonderful bike event with Unicycles, penny-farthings, a tandem, a monster bike and liads more. This was the best part. Dome Cycle Hub please have this again! We loved it!
Great place but not if you're hoping for a meal only fast food.
Pool is great! Perfect for a family swim, slopes for all ages... outdoor swim was lovely. Clean and tidy, great staff.
Excellent evening,
Went to see Plastic Elvis (Tim Vine)
Light hearted show.
Not Tim Vine doing his stand up comedy but singing . Excellent evening 😀
Clean changing facilities and a variety of activities in the pool as well as a good ice ring.
Great afternoon out and fairly priced
Lovely team across the board running it
Love this place, been here many of times, be it ice skating or swimming, but this time it was for a gig, Yungbud in his home town 🤘🏻
I've been going to The Dome swimming since I was 11 (I'm now 41).
Probably the best swimming experience with a good number of pools with one home to the wild waters outside.
It's well worth the hour drive to visit.
There was a slide out of action but we got in fast, changing was easy as it was a family changing room and we had 5 kids with us, the outdoor pool was warm, good toddler area. Just wish we were aloud in longer!
Great service and friendly staff on the ice skating department
Our summer holiday was taking my kids to swimming pools I liked when I was young. I was a bit worried having not been for 20 years that it might be a bit old and run down.
Luckily it wasn't!
For 2 kids who can't swim it was fun. It was warm, there is a shallow kids area with a "climbing frame and slides".
We didn't check out the flumes for obvious reasons so can't comment on those.
It wasn't too busy and plenty of space to actually do some swimming and playing.
We also went to Barnsley Metrodome... Doncaster was much better.
I might be a little biased when it comes to the dome... because my daughter absolutely loves to swim here. Never too full as it's online booking, pools warm and there's quite daring slides even for the little ones. Can't fault the swimming 😁
Went for ice skating, quick and easy access to the rink, liked the variety in areas like it not being just an oval. Although the rink itself was good the skates they offer are not great, your feet will hurt after a while so would recommend bringing your own in possible
It was good. We love the outside swimming in the cold weather. Water always warm.
Only problem was the large queue to get in.
Didn't go Ice Skating so cannot comment there however the swimming side was decent. Lots of Life guards on duty, lots of slides and activities. Lockers and changing rooms available and a little cafe. Will return!
Great venue felt safe at all times, drinks were a bit pricey. The supervisor let us back in as my sister was very cold, top man great people skills
First time ice skating. Very good with the grandkids but needed to book the penguin beforehand. Excellent overall and the time allowed was just right.
We were there for a strongman event, but the event has plenty of free parking. Bars available to buy snacks and drinks. Although I found nothing really if you have allergies such as Gluten Free. I like the event venue as it provides a close up experience and the staff were all helpful and friendly.
Had a great couple of hours here. Was dreading it due to precautions etc but was well managed. 2 queues to get in, each checking tickets then you are let into the pool for 1h30m. Pool was less busy than usual so in that sense a positive, although rapids not working.
It's a shame the ice skating wasnt open yesterday too, as theres still a lot of kids not back at school till next week.
Fantastic night. Elvis US Tour
Went to see a concert really good
1st time visiting with my daughter both had a great time
Came swimming here for the first time the other day. It's absolutely AMAZING!! Can't rate this place highly enough. Great water slides, outdoor rapids, 3 indoor pools, hot tubs... just absolutely perfect! And it's only like 7 quid to get in.. Even better at the minute with social distancing which means you have to book your time a lot, which means it's not packed out when you get there!
Way too many people in the pool, barely any showers. Ice skating is even worse, way too many people and the boots are all worn and not fit for purpose.
The children loved the swimming pool it was fab...lots of slides and an outdoor pool.Hot tubs...clean and tidy changing rooms. The swimming pool could do with some tlc in pla es...but I'm not going to dwell on that as it was a fab 2 hours
20/9/21 went to see the specials here, very good venue really impressed by how it was organised. The specials were fantastic saw them 40 years ago chapel town in Leeds and still as good today.
Visited 17/02/2020 which was the first day of the school hols. We booked online, which I would recommend doing as the pay on the day que was huge! We booked for 2 adults and 3 children (10, 9 and 1) for the big day out which includes swimming and ice skating. It cost £30 which is a reasonable price for an hour and a half in each. I was glad we got there early as it got busy quick. The pool had enough to keep all my children entertained although it was a little cold for the 1 year old. The downside to the swimming was the cleanliness. The changing rooms were clean but the pool and its surroundings were mouldy. It had not been cleaned for some time. I even found a clear plastic glove floating around.
The skating was good fun and well run. It was hard work with a 1 year old as the penguin aids were too big and was not allowed to carry her around so it became back breaking.
Love it here. Nice and warm and loads to do. We've been to every big pool in the area and this is the best so far. Love the Rapids that go outside especially on a hot day! Kids love the slides and my 11m old loves the baby bit. Nice warm changing rooms and excellent baby changing room
Went ice-skating and to the ice bar - can't fault staff friendly and polite, rink was awesome and well priced. Will be coming back 👍
Swimming pool / cycle track and other activities looked great too but didn't try them on this occasion.
Loved it good for kids with big splash
Spent very good time on big splash and ice skating with my daughter. Both of us are happy with these attractions and definitely go there again
Had a really good day out here, staff where helpful and friendly, I hadn't received the email with my ticket info on but staff went through their system and got us in. Everything seems to be open here with regards to slides and pools, at our local swimming complex the slides/diving boards are currently closed due to covid. My kids had a fab time and really enjoyed themselves :)
Fantastic swimming, especially for the babies
Had a real good day out here using the leisure pool. The slides were great and there are great family sections for every kind of swimmer. its great place for new swimmers and once you get a little more confident you can get into the deeper end of the pools.
The slides were great fun too!
Only downside i would say is i wish they had private shower areas so we could shower after our swim.. there is only the communal showers which isn't great after a swim I like to have a proper shower after being in contact with chlorine from the swimming pool
Apart from that love it !
Went to see Placebo play there. Not the best venue but they seem to have a lot going on.
Just visited to see Sarah Millican tour. Was really impressed with the hospitality at doncaster Dome. The Staff we're really friendly, approachable and helpful. It was well organised. The only bug bare I had, was how hot it was in the theatre. It wasn't a particularly warm day but the heat in the building was ridiculous. I think this is because the dome has a metal roof so retains heat. Not a lot that can be done to prevent this. I'd advise wearing light comfortable clothing when visiting the dome to watch a show or concert. Looking forward to visiting again in the future to see other shows.
Great team Of lifeguards on pool and flumes
Son had bought tickets for Jimmy Carr, originally for April 2020.
The show has been postponed twice and we now can't find original tickets or email.
Quick call to the Dome, email with printable tickets resent, no drama.
Many thanks for helping us out.
This is the 3rd time we've been here as a family, and we all really enjoy it. Two young kids, we went for the swim and skate deal, the kids are getting into ice skating. The deal itself is a good price, however for the kids they aren't great ice skaters so needed the support penguins, however these cost extra which is almost as much as we paid to have the swim and skate deal, £6 per penguin, which seems very expensive and is why they don't get 5 stars. However it is a great idea for learners. The swimming pool was great today, all slides working which the kids loved. The changing rooms are family change but not big changing areas, and frustrating to get a big locker. The showers are much warmer than the first time we went. Definitely worth getting the deal to do swim and skate, unless you don't like skating. We'll definitely go back.
We love it here, it's always clean & tidy, staff are friendly, my children love the lazy river outside wish more places had that. We come regularly
Brilliant afternoon out that could easily be turned into a day out if doing both swimming and ice skating. I have only used the pools. The have an outside area that has ‘wild waters’ turn on intermittently. Lots of slides and sprinklers for all ages. Large unisex changing area with plenty of good sized private cubicles to use. Looked and smelled clean throughout both changing and swimming areas.
Finally started going back to the gym and I'm very impressed with the measures they have put in place that protects both users and gym staff. The on-line booking is a breeze to use a very intuitive system. With patrons encouraged to clean equipment before and after use and then the staff doing a full clean down between sessions I feel confident and comfortable in returning.
It's just like any other swimming baths
Excellent Swimming facilities, kids loved it
Fantastic Morrissey gig. Friendly staff.
We booked ice skating tickets online and printed them off. When we got to the dome we queued up to get our tickets scanned but then got sent to the back of the queue and told our tickets weren’t valid. We then realised our tickets were fine and we had to go back to the check in. Although there were problems with tickets, skate hire was cheap and easy. The ice rink was very good. The slope made it very fun.
Great family swim, well worth going. Most of the slides are for kids over 1.2m tall who can swim, but there is still plenty to keep the smaller ones happy.
Great pool and lots to do for kids. Easy to book online and entry. Had 1hr 30 in pool. Good experience. Easy to park too.
Went to early session ice was a little rougher than the later ones are but it was brilliant staff are excellent and really helped when someone fell
Worth a visit. We paid £24 for a family pass for ice skating and swimming. The pool could do with a good clean in places but it's not too bad. Parking is free. Staff were friendly. I did think the penguins for the ice skating were a bit expensive at £6 tho
Excellent family experience for all ages. Great slides, out door rapids. Probably the best swimming experience in south yorkshire
This is one of the better swimming pools I have been to. The slides are very fast and fun. The pool is very nice, there is a spa and jacuzzi, and overall the pool is well designed. There is nothing bad to say about it. The lifts are: A keighley in the main foyer (hydraulic), and a Schindler 3300 in the swimming area
Went swimming for the 2 hour booking, only got to swim for an hour and half which makes sense but you're not allowed to shower! Wish I had known before hand as it doesn't say ANYWHERE on the website about this. As someone who suffers with eczema I need to wash the chlorine off but as I wasn't able to I suffered bad with it stinging. Won't go again until the showers are operating
Plenty to do with mostly friendly staff. We went ice skating, the ice was not as smooth as it could have been but the did bring out the machine after our session
What a great pool. 4 good slides and a cool outdoor river section. Very friendly and helpful staff too.
Massive and busy especially on a wet Saturday morning, when we visited. The ice skating ring is big, but queued for about 20 kind to get tickets. And they never told us at the till that we had to pay extra for the penguin for our 3 year old. The soft play is nice but they don't sell any baby food at all so take supplies. Didn't visit the swimming pool but will definitely do next time we are down there because it looked very impressive! Ample parking.
Lovely place to visit, great prices , plenty to do and excellent service from pleasant and friendly staff, children had an amazing day ,
Good gym facilities, plenty of parking and family activities including a dual layer ice rink, indoor and outdoor pools and slides. Also a decent event venue, especially for comedy gig's. The seating is wide but shallow so nowhere feels too far away from the stage.
Really good toddler pool.. watched over by lifeguards to keep the big kids out! The water was so warm that going into the outdoor section was no problem! It was really busy as it was school holidays but there was so many different pools it really didn't matter.. Will be goingagain
It is good and good as a day out. Good, clean changing rooms and the outdoor heated pool with water rapids are very good. Downside is there is only one open air slide indoors for certain people if they do not like being in enclosed spaces. But there is other slides if you want to go on the enclosed ones. Hope this helped.
Am a member of the gym here which has a good selection of classes. Can use all the local gyms with the membership. The actual gym is usually easy to get onto a machine and not always busy. Classes get filled up quickly though so book a week in advance.
Good pool and a great range of activities for children including ice skating. I wouldn't recommend lane swimming here as isn't really geared up for it.
The best day out. Ice skating and swimming in one place. Fantastic. If your taking the kids and your not a skater or a swimmer there is a couple of little cafes indoors for tea, coffee etc and soft drinks. There is also a safe play area for the little ones. As expected can be busy on weekends and school holidays but definitely worth a visit.
Great place to take the kids, and reasonably priced. The swimming here is fun for the kids, and the ice rink is pretty decent.
I come here primarily to skate, and I've been skating for about 16 years. The sessions are an hour and a half long, with half hour breaks in between them. The skating sessions are very reasonably priced, and if you want to attend more than one, you can buy a day pass. They also do a pass that allows you to skate and swim.
I've also attended conventions here, and the place is very well laid out for such events.
They have ample free parking, even for their busiest days.
The only reason I've rated The Dome four stars is because I feel the quality of their ice is lacking, and could be better maintained.
Mostly really good, facilities have been upgraded however swimming in colder weather is less advised as had a incident when the pool was so cold my daughter was shivering in even the warm jacuzzi area and going purple, which resulted in staff trying to offer us a voucher to come back in the next 3 month over the Christmas period which we declined. Other than the one incident have used regularly for the pool over the years as it's the closes fun facility for my daughter to swim.
Welcome Home louis
Great family fun, swimming & ice skating. Areas in need of refurbishment. Skating was far too busy.
Ice skating is great fun for all ages. The penguins and snowmen safety tools are a bit pricey, £6 when it's only £3 to skate. Good atmosphere but no videos or photographs of your children are permitted.
Love the Dome. Both ice skating and the pool were packed as it was the last day of the school holidays. We went ice skating first, there was about enough room to skate around at the bottom of the slope area. The member of staff in charge seemed to be breaking all the rules (going backwards, weaving between people) and paid little attention to the idiots flipping over the sides and being a general nuisance, he does manage to tell little kids off for being in the wrong area with their penguins though. Swimming is great, 2 good slides and a whirlpool and a couple of hot tubs. There is a section at the back that was closed and was a year ago, about time whatever the problem is was fixed, also the slides near that section were out of action, get them fixed. A well priced day out though, with a family ticket it cost about £10 to swim and skate all day.
Very clean . Goods food. Staff considerate . And amazingly fun
A bit tired for decor and atmosphere, also the ice ring is much smaller than the Sheffield one. Lovely staff though
Nice pool, water was very warm which was great for the young ones. Place itself looks a little tired in places but overall was pretty clean.
Soft play area OK, caters more for the under 5's though I would say.
It is a bit dated, could do with a new lock of paint and maybe a bit more varied places to eat, but still had a great day with the kids. Price is very reasonable we specially with a day family ticket that gets you into ice skating and the pool.
Enjoyable experience.
Very clean, lots of space to get changed and store belongings.
Great pool and slides for toddlers.
Great swimming pool for the kids we had a great time . Went for a hot dog after in the entrance but won't be doing that again! Over priced, not great food, and all the 3 staff we had the pleasure of encountering were so miserable and unhelpful !!!! But would definitely return for a fun family swim was a brilliant couple of hours !
Pool was great - really great for the whole family and value for money. The changing rooms were dirty though. Family changing was cramped and the floor was muddy and had no drainage. A revamp would push this up to 5 stars.
Really good. Went swimming today with our daughter for the first time.
Really good experience. She loved it. Will be coming back shortly.
Kids had so much fun and the numbers of people in at the same time are near on perfect, so no long queue or bumping into anybody else, very friendly staff
Great value for money. We did a swim and skate day pass. Have some shattered kids and parents now. Only draw backs were the sheer amount of people they let in during sessions. And that you have to pay £6 for a penguin. Think its expensive compared to the actual cost of getting in. Also spent £9 on 4 drinks and was told off for eating a sandwich we took with us while we sat and drank them. Even though there was nowhere else to sit
Absolute magic!!everything super clean...staff are amazing as always...really helpful and nothing too much....was extra fab as the outside was open today and when the Wild Waters was on every single person there was laughing and having the best fun...we needed this place to open again and was worth the wait!!♡♡
Accept Military card for swimming but not spa.. very clean pools. Friendly staff. Not very disabled friendly.. steam room was very good. Sauna could do with a freshen up. Lockers in spa area could do with a bit of repairs.. the spa area could do with some repairs and a lick of paint instead of tape over the holes.. the water slides were good and the outside pool with rapids were ok.. I hear the food in the restaurant was good value and quality
Very busy. Despite people staring at me due to a skin issue, I enjoyed the day swimming. Went skating and swimming back in 2002 in the summer holidays with an activity group
Me and my 3 year old son did have a good time here recently, but the place is definitely getting past it's best. We went during a school holiday and it was just heaving, to the point I would say it was getting dangerous and even when we left there was a massive que!
I would still go again, I'll just avoid the holidays!
There's a decent shallow pool for the kids and a big pool with loads to do in it
One place me and my partner love to go if we want to relax and have abit of fun! The swimming pool is not huge but there is lots to do and it is very child friendly and the ice skating is fun if you are looking for a time killer. Seems to be alot going on which is nice to see
Such a great place to visit on a rainy day with children! Great facilities with lots to do to keep children entertained and adults! The only slight drawback is the swimming changing rooms that really don't accommodate families when the place is at full capacity, people were queuing to get a cubicle and the floor was filthy with everyone coming in in muddy shoes, also not a lot of room to dry hair with so many people. Very good prices though!
Upon reading all the bad reviews we was sceptical if to make the 1hour 40min drive here or not. However we was plesently surprised and had a brilliant day at a bargain price. We got there at 10am and didn't leave untill almost 5pm and it cost £39 for a family of 6 of us. Usually a full day out for us as a large family costs £100 give or take so it was a great price and we had a great day and we don't see what all the fuss is about in the reviews. I honestly don't understand how anyone can say the staff are rude as they was so polite and helpful today. The ice rink was fantastic in every way possible. The staff were outstanding and there was always a member of staff on the rink and if anyone fell they was straight over asking if you needed help to get up/get the kids up. There was also several professional/very experienced skaters that helped out of the goodness of there hearts which i found lovely as you wouldn't often find that. Previous reviews we read on varies sites said the pool changing rooms were dirty.. They wasn't and they was regularly cleaned. The stairs upto the slides in the pool I agree isn't in great condition and could do with some maintenence but the actual pools themselves there's nothing you wouldn't expect. The toilets weren't the cleanest but I always find that with pool toilets as everyone goes in dripping with water. Over all Im glad we ignored the negative reviews as we had a brilliant cheap day out and we will certainly be going again!
Used to be a lot better, the children's play area has gone, and non swimmers will not get on the flumes. The price has also increased. Needs an update and a big overhaul if you ask me. We left after 20 minute's and got a refund. Okay for older kids and adults.
First time ice skating for me and my to children. we had a great time staff was friendly and welcoming. the ice is a good size complete with 2 ramps to traverse the the upper and lower levels. lighting was ok, although a bit dark. the music was really pumping with some good 90's dance music witch really added to the experience. pricing :
lockers are available for £1
adults £3.50
juniors £3.00
under 5s £1.20
skating aids £6 per section. if your going with little one they have skating aids in the form of snowmen and penguins that they can hold onto and help them keep balance. they really helped with my 2 children.
food is available in the dome however found it hard to get a good sandwich. the hot dogs were great.
overall a great family day out at a reasonable cost the building is a little run down and could do with some work and the layout of the building is some what confusing. taking into account all points its a sold 4 star just missing out on a 5th due to the appearance of the building and the £6 per stake aid per child witch i feel is a little hash as most young children need them to build there conference on the ice.
Probably one of the better leisure centres if a little grubby. Great ice rink. Shame we drove all way from Sheffield only to find that everything pool side was closed. Slides etc only on during holidays which kind of defeats the point of going when it's not rammed full. Great staff though, gave us a free skate after finding out how far we'd come.
Large entertainment centre with ice skating and a pool. Both get very busy very fast on a weekend, and it's not very clear how you should queue up to get it. The supports for the ice cost extra and the way the ice ring is built means you have new skaters mixed in with experienced skaters, which can be quite off putting.
Staff are very friendly and the price for a basic swim and a skate isn't too bad.
Went here as a kid which was about 15 years ago, still the same as it was back then. Is still fun to go but in my opinion the place could do with a fresh bit of paint, the rusty spiral stair case to the waterside just looks awful and smells a bit like urine but once you have been in there for 10 minutes you dont smell it anymore, but the place could do with a lick of paint
Went there for swimming with my little 2 year old daughter on a Bank holiday Monday. The Dome has a fantastic group of pools we went into. My little one had lots of fun, it was really busy though as it's so popular.
Interesting one. Did a gym trial. Super gym, heaps of machines, clean, staff available for assistance. Pleasant changing rooms. Half term week so had to manoeuvre way through queues to get to gym...very busy in that area. Do not know if there is a separate entrance for gym, it has its own reception.
Would use again.
Went to see Jimmy Carr here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was so busy but there was organisation from what I could tell.
Over the years I've been here swimming a few times and used the ice skating rink. It's always been a great day out and would recommend it to all ages. There's something for everyone! From soft play for the little ones to arcades, swimming, ice skating and a restaurant and bar.
Great ice rink for family sessions, there are two small ice pads linked by ramps which are great for confident skaters and kids who don't know fear yet. The swimming pool with all the slides and the outdoor area is brilliant, there is something there for all ages and abilities.
Staff are all friendly, car parking is free and if you are in the military they do forces discount too.
The place can get very busy on the weekends. The pool area could do with renovation but is still useable. The ice rink has had better ice than ice Sheffield every time I've gone. I'm a regular skater and it's not bad. They should spend some time making the ice better before afternoon sessions as it's pretty battered after first 2 sessions. The soft flooring where you put your skates on is now through to the concrete in places too so you have to be careful.
There used to be better session times during the week but now it's for lessons only on the days i used to skate.
I gave it a 3 star rating as it's still a good place to keep active or take the kids. Just a shame they don't seem to spend anything in the right areas.
Amazing place been twice now and will be back
Great place to go for a relatively cost effective swim with the kids. £7.50 for me partner and our little one and that gave us 3 hours of fun in the pools.
Little one loved the toddler pool with little slides in it.
Planning on going as often as we can.
a sports centre come events centre. while enjoying my evening at an event we constantly reminded this was a sports centre by wants of chlorine throughout the evening.
the staff seemed a little lost at times, clearly agency hires that did not know the place they were working in. as well as this I could see more than one staff member wondering around in a zombie like state with no want to be there or to give their guests even a modicum of hospitality. I am sure per shift the scene was a lot like Shaun ( Shaun of the dead) team meeting before the store opened.
overall gym and sports centre a strong average. event centre a strong 5/10.
Today, the water was very cold but anyway my son and I enjoyed very much.
Awesome, well organised, great slides and loads of fun for all the family.
Beware of the snake slides, they are scarier than they look!
Most gym employees spot in. Esp twin brothers excellent. Crumpy old man sometimes intimidates you when try talk to him. Needs shaking
I live in Wakefield and drive here to go swimming do I need to say anymore?
Come to the dome regularly as its a great place for our 4 yo. Swimming facilities are great, a little tired and dated but doesn't take away from the enjoyment, little boy loves the slides and there's plenty of space in the pools that it never feels overcrowded. Play zone is a great way to relax whilst children go off an play, can enjoy a drink and a book whilst little one goes off an plays. Food is okay, don't but for myself asnportions for children are good value and theres always plenty left over to pick at.
Ideal location for a record fair, but if you are a music lover it's very poor acoustics for a concert venue. There is no booking office despite the structure still present. Also have never seen any free earplugs for concert attendees or harassed parent's. Its fully wheelchair or pram accessable and the toilet facilities are clean & safe.
After many years of none exercise/gym I joined the Dome 4 the gym. Lol & it ticks all of the boxes,, induction,, then doing my own thing,, work out,, socialise,, sauna,, its all there 4 the taking..
Good place to take the kids. Swimming is fun with the slides and outdoor bit with the "lazy river" there is also a separate pool where you can actually do some lengths while the youngsters are having fun. There is a rink too so if you want to ice skate that's an option. There is some sort of deal if you choose to do both swim and skate.
1st time here about month ago with my girl 5years old. We loved it was a bit busy but still had fun not much queuing for slides and the lazy river outside was lovely n warm. Didn't do the skating. But went in the play area. Good day out going back in school holidays
Absolutely fantastic ice skating experience for my 2 beginners x loved it thank you x
Very good value for a family ticket for swim and skate (was £25 for 2 adults 2 children for a swim session and an ice-skating session) Book online for best value and to avoid queues. The pool is great with various slides for different ages and levels of adventure. There is even a very shallow bit for tots with little slides. There is a "lazy river" type thing that flows outside the building which was cool. The ice skating has a rink with two levels and a slope between them so that was fun and a bit scary for a beginner. Parking was free and there is a retail park very nearby /across the road with fast food outlets and a big supermarket for snacks etc afterwards.
A very well organised event all staff members are very friendly and very helpful ROH was fantastic
Maybe not at it’s heyday, but still a great place to visit and enjoy a day of sport or entertainment.
Swimming pool has recently been refurbished inside and changing rooms are now very clean and modern. Swimming outside is novel. Ice skating is good fun due to the ramps up and down but not recommended if you aren't very steady on you feet! Prices very reasonable too.
Great place to visit.Swimming and ice-skating in one day.Free hot drink if you are a spectator.Staff friendly and helpful.Only slight downside, is it needs a bit of TLC.
Haven't been here since I was a kid. I took my 7 year old ice skating for the first time the website prices didn't really add up I was going to book online and pay £24 when I got there and paid it cost me £11.50 so was better than expected. The ice rink itself was good and always a steward on checking up on everything. My little girl used the penguins to help her which should of been £20 deposit but there was no one on the desk so everyone was taking them ha. Car parking is aweful but they wont change that. A good venue has everything there you need!!!
First time taking granddaughter ice skating and it was amazing, staff were amazing.
Great family day out doing the swim and skate deal. Both venues were very full this time but the children made the best of the space avayto them to enjoy both activities.
Went to a concert. Was good and covid precautions were in place. Beer was a bit pricey but its to be expected at a venue of this kind
Had a brilliant time here with our grandson.. great fun for all the family young and old.. well priced as well and it's kept nice and clean which is nice to see compared to others I have been to... slides are great fun and cater for kids of all ages
Spot on! Booked swim & skate online, only £25 for a family of four. Swimming: clean changing rooms & floors, excellent (though small) outdoor 'rapids' area, slides a bit disappointing, but ok for kids.
Skating: spot on, hired boots were Ok, well staffed & penguins available to help little learners.
Lots of choices for eating out within a 5 minute walk, tgi, macdonalds, burger king, dunking donuts etc...... A short distance to bowling and cinema too.. Can make for a real treat of a day out.
Doncaster dome is excellent! The staff are really friendly and they let Daniel on the ice in his wheel chair. We always have fun there. After, we went to get some food at the refresh cafe and the staff were lovely and the food was amazing!! ... the sandwiches were scrummy.
from Hannah and Rhiannon aged 10 x
Good swimming £10.50 for me and tommy slides rapids food
Went swimming there with my 2 daughters. They loved it. Especially the outside pool with wave machines & slides. Fun for all the family. Next time will go ice skating there too & make a day of it.
Been nice to have know that the family slide was closed. Pool could do with been a touch warmer. Needs more family things in pool
Brilliant 2 tier ice rink, I travel an hour to skate here every couple of weeks. Can't get much better value than £3.10 to skate for 1.5 hours! Only slight dissapointment is that they don't clean the ice in between sessions sometimes.
Been many times to the Dome over the years and by the look on how tired it's looking it hasn't been refurbished for some time now.
The pool was evacuated while we were there due to a "Chemical Imbalance". Not sure if they offered refunds for those who had just arrived? On leaving I glanced at the empty pool from the balcony and it resembles something you would normally see on an urban exploration forum.
Good value & still fun even though some stuff was closed. Just needs a refurbish.
Good ice skating session. Not too full . Will be going again.
My child loves ice skating but a little tip to avoid disappointment BOOK ONLINE! We turned up on Saturday and the queue were so long we couldn't go we had to pay for the next skate session and wait around for over a hour. But other than that there is plenty to do. Swimming skating play area gym etc.
The facilities need to be better looked after and ensure they work properly.
Very busy place and very hot in hot weather. Been twice now and both times busy. We visited a gaming market which was set at the back of the place. Because it was our first time we were unsure where to go and there were queues to get in the swimming pool which we didn't know if that was the queue to get into the Dome. Luckily we worked it out but had to ask where the market hall was. Saying that the car park had space and its free which is a bonus. Looks like there's plenty of food there but didn't try it. Always seems busy though especially swimming.
Visited (thursday 31st may)
Swimming pool was very busy as you would expect in half term.... needs a good deep clean (same tiles as when built in some areas) slide to top of pool area closed but considering how busy it was should have been open? Unless broken.
Skating very enjoyable. Slopes challenge the children's confidence but even my scared of everything children did it. Even the 'dome digger' boots you borrow are fairly decent now. Can get snowmen or penguin supports but at £6 per user for a full session these are pricey in my eyes.
Was a disco session which made it better.
Staff in both were pleasant and reacted very well when a young girl cut herself from falling in swimming pool area.
Need to sort the jets on the relax chairs so they all work.
Lovely swimming pool, will back soon.
State of the art facility in the earth of Doncaster. Very close to the popular Doncaster Racecourse. Ample free packing space, gym, swimming, ice skating, theatre, restaurants, etc you name it. The DOME is definitely a place to visit. I bet, adult will enjoy the place as much as children. There's definitely something for everyone irrespective of age or gender.
Good but not great, the inside pool is a fair size and is great for kids, you can swim through to the pool outside which has a rapid water loop. The pool also has 2 flooms and a waterfall. The steam room is excellent, sauna and Jacuzzi not so much. Cold and luke warm showers are available, but not in the changing area. Also the lockers only accept old pound coins or tokens, so make sure you bring one.
This place was good for the swimming and the slides only got 90 minutes which is enough. The wild water was not on wen we went although we could swim outside
Ice-skating here is fab. A bit different from others as it has two levels and slopes. Good fun
The skating and swimming were great fun!
Ice skates were a little uncomfortable but not the end of the world.
Only negative was when we visited the little restaurant and waited over an hour for 4 portions of chips.
Nice and enjoyable, watched the strongman competition here.
Don't get me wrong the pool could do with a tidy up but value for money it's amazing. We paid just over £16 for 2 adults 1 child but we spent 3 hours swimming (clowning around). Plenty of lifeguards.
Free hairdryers.
Lots of changing rooms and decent sized lockers.
They also do a ice skating and swimming combo which is incredible value when purchased in advance.
McDonald's and Asda just opposite or there is a cafe onsite.
I had been since I was a child since last Summer but after refinding it also found that my son loves it.
Pool area needs a good clean lots of rust and mould. Ice skating is fab although boots could need updating. Kids loved it and a bargain day out when swim n skate are purchased together
I love the skating rinks, because there are two levels it's fun for speeding down and the bottom level is usually emptier.
The pools are amazing, there is an outside area with loungers, a waterfall and the rapids are my favourite. there are many slides, two flumes a double slide and a family slide. There is also a children's pool.
It is also good for funtions like receptions or meetings.
Mega fun today. The ice skating rink in a good laugh with friends and family. Fell on my bottom a few too many times though 😂
Used the swimming facility, very well organised during covid felt safe there, staff always seen to be cleaning keeping on top they could be more friendly though
Area needs abit of TLC starting to look run down but doesnt spoil the fun
Let too many people use the facilities at same time. Happy to take money and despite recent renovations, the place still looks severely dated and in need of repair. Rust, damaged flooring and closed slides. New layout of changing rooms are worse than the original layout.
The swim and skate is fantastic value for money and under 5s are free for both. We had a great time here. Would probably benefit from a bit of a refurb in areas but that been said, it's great value for a rainy day activity. Oh and not to mention that Dunkin Donuts is only across the road! 😜
Love swimming here with the little one!
Its ok but really could do with some renovations. Some bits are feeling a bit run down, especially the little outdoor swimming area. Also the swimming changing area needs more showers and hair dryers. Also the cafe/hot dog bar is not really good enough for such a big complex
I attend large scale events at the Dome regularly. It's a good enough location however the staff could clean the toilets more regularly when there are tons of people around as they get messy quite quickly. All they do is replenish the tissues but you need more than that especially when young kids are around.
Went to the Comicon in summer 2021. Nice event. Also been swimming and ice skating in the past. Good.
Been today wiv my daughters wot a fantastic place, life guard Robert was amazing wiv us all so happy n enthusiasic we will definitely b comin bk x
Brilliant place to go for a swim
Excellent for skating with a perfect and friendly atmosphere. Same for attending events such as conventions. The swimming? Not so much. It's not that the theming or layout was poorly designed but it was so unclean. The pool walls were yellow and I could've sworn I saw a piece of faeces floating past me. Will not be swimming here again.
Pool was crowded with little Social Distancing. Credit to the life guards for dealing with a floating poo with minimal fuss.
Ice skating is really fun here. The slides are good in the pool. But we ordered food at "Mom's fabulous hot dogs" and the food took over an hour to arrive.
A more than typical sports facility offering water and ice activities. Looking a little dated now, but still a good visit for the family.
To be fair I was there for an event not for the facilities.
The staff were friendly and helpful
Well.organised on a wet sunday hence incredibly busy. Impressive family changing facilities and fantastic for toddlers with the slides in the toddler pool.
If you are parent to.a toddler go - the toddler pool is shallow enough to.mean armbands arent necessary
I used to work here. Nothing to complain about. The staff here are great. There's plenty of facilities. Ice skating with dome diggers available, swimming with rapids and lifegaurds, gym with instructors, kids play area, bars, restaurant, meeting rooms and a big events room.
Very much part of my life, its where I start my day
Been on numerous occasions and found it easy to park unless it the school holidays where it can get busy.
Staff are helpful.Clean pool area and great value for a family ticket compared to other places.
Went today with my sister and our 2 babies at 1230, was told the only pool open from 1 would be the main pool (found this to be shallow end of 1.3m) which was not easy with 2 babies. Unsure why this was the case. Changing room floor was dirty, I think they were short on staff judging by the early closing time but this is no excuse for poor cleaning! Not impressed
Kids love the big splash pools.great fun to be had here, lovely little play area for the younger kids. Very clean. Well worth a visit
Not bad but not great. The slides close at 4 🤔 Pretty pointless to go after 4. The floor is very slippery as I saw 4 people slip last time I went. Sometimes it gets to overcrowded and teenagers are very rowdy putting us off and we left.
It's a bit rundown, the ice skating rink is great except nobody enforces the one direction so lots of collisions, otherwise all good
Definitely 5🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟,highly recommended
Excellent place for fun Ice skating rink and swimming pool we went to both and we be going again soon.
Myself & my friend took our children for a day out at Doncaster Dome, taking advantage of the great prices (at the time it was £25 for family of 4 for swimming and ice skating 10am - 4pm)
The staff were all very helpful and we had a good time. The Dome is looking very tired tho. The pool changing is a confusing maze whilst also not being big enough for busy times (we had to queue to use the showers and get a changing cubicle on our way out). Only one hairdryer was working, but also there are only 3 dryers in total.
There was also lots of mud and dirt on the changing room floor and only one cleaner, desperately trying to keep on top of it.
I postponed a trip to Doncaster Dome last Christmas because the pool was being refurbished, so I was quite excited to see how/what would have changed. Unfortunately, I couldn't see any change since my last visit in 1992 (there are some new slides but they were put in before the latest refurbishment).
Everything just looks really tired. Stains on tiles, tiles needing replacing, massive rust patches on the way to the outdoor pool and most of the bubble seats don't work properly.
The pool is also not very accessible. There is a hoist, but only on one pool and getting in/out as an able bodied person was hard enough. The only beach type entry is on the splash area (very shallow pool for younger kids). All the other entry/exit points are ladder steps that start quite high up the wall. I am a fit 40yr old (5"7 in height) and I found the stairs awkward and a little daunting.
Overall view of the pool - very fun, great staff, slides and lazy river are awesome but beware as the pools are in desperate need of refurbishment and people with even slight mobility issues may struggle getting in and out the pool.
We had lunch at the café. The food was good but the member of staff on the counter didn't know what they were doing. He even told me that they don't do receipts (?).
Ice skating was good and there is also a small arcade in the ice skating but which pleased my 10yr old (who is way too cool to actually ice skate!)
We had a wander about after 4pm deadline on our tickets and found a lovely little beach area for kids under 1.2m. It has seating and an ice cream booth. It's also not too far from the toilets.
In summary, we had a good day's fun for minimal cost and we would come again (despite my whining) because my kids really enjoyed it.
Yes it could be cleaner but it’s just showing a bit of age , it’s still good fun and loads to do . Recommend the family ticket for swimming anbd ice skating. Don’t recommend the over priced hot dogs that promise so much and dilever very little , missing a trick there I think . Go to the pub food instead or just Maccies across the road
My daughter and her friend used the pool this afternoon. The Amazonian area is packed with water slides and features to suit a range of ages. Everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. A wrist band system is in place and when your time is up your colour is called. There is always a steady stream of people visiting the Dome.
There is a café area with seating and tables. Hot food is available along with a range of drinks.
There is also an ice - skating area - I don't partake but the girls may come back to give it a whirl. I have seen a few acts at the Dome. Its an intimate experience, a little like modern high school theatres with seating which is retractable, dependant on whether you are seated or standing. There seems to be an interesting range of acts appearing here and I am seriously thinking of a couple of bookings.
Facilities are of an age when ambitious, modern leisure facilities were built and therefore of an age when TLC in the form of serious maintenance is due. I really hope resources are forthcoming to achieve this. In the district I live, a smaller - scale centre, of the same era, has been turned over to the community. Issues with the wave machine and slide were too costly. My local pool, of an older type has been closed. Once these places are gone they aren't coming back.
Doncasters main public swimming pool. Also has an ice skating rink popular with kids and teens. Lots of water slides in the pool. 3 main areas for the pool from beginners to advanced. The changing areas and over all look of the place has seen better days.
Good swimming pool, restaurant/café, play area, and Ice skating. Brilliant place at the heart of my town.
Haven't been for a few years. However this was the first for an awards event. Could have done with having at least 2 if not all 3 if the bars open, as only 1 bar open on the night and was queuing for 25 minutes. Then they didn't have a lot of drinks in that people wanted
Loved the event but the seating was a bit of a problem
Leisure centre with conference and exhibition facilities. Several cafes and plenty of facilities for sporty types. Pool isn't suitable if you want to actually swim as it is a fun pool and gets crowded with people just standing about.
Best place in Doncaster.
The Dome is the best place in Doncaster, this is nothing to be proud of really as the only competition is Papa John's in town centre. The swimming pool is nice and large (compared to other pools in Doncaster) yet usually has human excrement floating on the surface. The gym is nice and open with plenty of equipment to choose from however, they always have the song 'Let it go' from Disney's film "Frozen" playing. FYI: don't buy drinks from here. I had pubes floating in mine.
My daughter loves it here. We only go ice skating but there's loads more to do here. Swimming, play areas for the little ones, allsorts. Good place for family days out.
A great family pool with lots of slides..like being on holiday but near where u live!! .nearly got 5 stas but was a bit too busy today for us...my two girls loved it though...especially the blue slide...
Love the range of ice skating sessions, from easy skating for casual skating or learning to skate; to neon skate for the slightly more experienced skaters so the teens can hangout.
Have not experienced the swimming area for a few years but last time I was there it was good, but slightly mor aimed towards younger children and experienced adults, with it's very shallow "beach" area and the nearby deeper pool. Outside whirle pool thing is good though.
As for other facilities I don't know...The ice bar is a good place to catch the sports with a drink and the possible meal.
ReFresh cafe is also of good standard.
So ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 Stars)based on my recent experiences 👍
Had a great time nothing to complain to!
My son had a Taekwondo Open comp here, after the event he then went swimming in the lagoons. This has been Refurbed in the past months and is to a high standard. The staff are very friendly. We had a good few hours.
Big splash was really fun. The online ordering was simple and due to this less people were there. 👍
For swimming and ice skating it's a steal. Good fun on the slides and outdoor lazy river. Avoid the Jacuzzis seem a bit scummy. Then a two tier ice rink. Who would think of skating up hill. But the downs fun. Or just sit in the middle and giggle at the newbies.
Great martial arts show weekend.
Ice skating bang on for me and theo who's 8
Amazing. Took my daughter here for her first swim. She loved it
The Dome have done a great job to make sure that people are able to have a good time and keep safe. Kids had a great time and didn't want to get out when it was time 😃😃
First time visiting. Great value for money on the £25 for family of 4 (ice skating and swimming) we went on a Saturday & was quite busy in the swimming pool but great facilities. Excellent value for money.
Only good for an event, no shops and no where to grab drinks.
Nice and clean, great fun for small children. 3/4 small slides into the water
Lovely place to swim
Great for any skaters interested in more than just a flat rink. Go every month with a few friends
