We had my dad's wake in the club's function room. The venue is very clean, the staff were amazing and the food was delicious with plenty for all those that attended. I would highly recommend them for any function. They couldn't do enough for us. They made a very difficult day bearable.

This was our first visit for Sunday lunch and all I can say is you need to book to experience the absolutely beautiful food. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is all served at your table which was brilliant especially when you have elderly family members who are not steady on their feet. Thank you for a lovely lunch and we will definitely be booking again.

Went for the first time for Sunday dinner today for my mum's 70th, fantastic food and great service. Would definitely recommend and looking forwards to going back for a second visit asap.

Went for firework display. Good firework display. Fire could have been in a better place. It's fair to say the amount of people overwhelmed the few food and drink stalls available. No chance of using the loo.

In regards to the rugby team, my kids have been a part of the club for almost 3 years and it's given them confidence, happiness and a big group of friends. Tonnes of respect amongst all the staff, players and parents. The club house itself is top notch. Massive inside. They've just had a big renovation and an extension with a huge function room that can host over 100 guests and has a private bar, disco area and a balcony. Really nice inside.

It was a excellent room for a 30th birthday party. The staff are so accommodating and cheerful . It's somewhere I will like to hold future parties at .

Bonfire night here is amazing. Fireworks display is madness, better than the fireworks show at the racecourse. Bars, food stalls, flashing toys, sparklers. Quality.

WHRUFC has a good range of drinks - mostly alcoholic, but coffee, coke and even water are available. They do play rugby, mostly Union between calls to the bar, banquets, hog roasts, BBQs, parties & pub quizzes. Ticket entry to watch games is about the price of a pint.
Admire the chutzpah of an aging player, pint in hand, telling his wife, lathered in smoke & fumes that she's flipping the burgers all wrong - after years of bearing & raising his sons for The Team. Her measured response deserves privacy.
Bonfire Night is thronged. The fire is immense and their fireworks are legendary. When a spark turned the back of the van into a bazooka, rockets flew through the crowd at head height. Safety is always a priority.
Doncaster Mustangs now play American Football at WHRUFC; the two seasons don't overlap. If you are good at rugby, you'll be brilliant at American Football and you get to wear tight lycra with big shoulder pads. Plus, celebrate touchdowns with macho moves: "teams that touch the most win the most" !? The body armour makes a satisfying clash when you run into other blokes; it's louder than the dull thuds of rugby although the injuries and attrition rates are similar. (Curiously, paramedics must attend American Football, but flattened rugby players usually wait half an hour or so for an ambulance or just stagger back to the bar. Televised professional games often continue as medics attend a downed player. Nottingham is an exception. A Mustangs player with a broken back lay in the middle of the pitch for over an hour in sight of the hospital before two massively overweight paramedics stopped by. Then five blokes held his clothing to carry him screaming from the pitch and dump him behind the posts. He lay there unattended for another hour or so before an ambulance came with a stretcher. Nottingham's caring coach needed to continue the game. They were so sure they would win and gain promotion they had full video coverage and a live broadcast on local radio. Sadly they lost in the last seconds to a superb 60 yard pass and a brilliant leaping catch at full pace in the far right corner of the pitch. Ainsley's finest moment was a fitting tribute to Nottingham's hospitality & sportsmanship.)
Apparently though, when you're done with rugby you're "only fit for the box" - via the WHRUFC bar obviously. Of course, the secret of healthy tubes is a good steady flow. Also, your cumulative injuries, concussions & hangovers need plentiful palliative muscle relaxant and hairs of the dog.
Find WHRUFC down past The Range & the red elephants you can see from York Road. Never look back - unless of course, it's broken.
