I was really nervous and wasn't sure what to expect when i first started but i immediately felt comfortable and welcomed. i thought it would be a few sessions before i got to participate in any sparring but we were in the list from night one i had a few aches a pains the next day but the feeling while taking part was a hard one to describe i would definitley recommend it to anyone.

I signed up for the beginner sessions after seeing the Facebook page and thinking it looked fun... I was wrong.
It's /stupidly/ fun and everyone is so nice and supportive! The coaches know their stuff but everyone is happy to give you tips and encouragent. If you're looking for a hobby that leaves you bruised, breathless but buzzed afterwards I'd recommend buhurt!

I absolutely loved the foundation course and would highly recommend it to all who are considering it - just give it a try, you won't regret it!
Sure, i ached all over the next day from discovering long lost muscle groups that time had forgotten, and from all the soft kit duels and group fights - but ive never enjoyed something so much, nor felt so chilled the next day after wholloping anyone within my grasp the night before! 😁 I can't wait for training days now, its the highlight of the week.
The whole team at ACG are second to none. Right from the outset you are made to feel welcome by all. They come from every walk of life and are like one big family; There's a real 'one team' ethos and camaraderie between them and they're happy to share their knowledg and wisdom to all. I'm glad I never passed the chance by! Thank you ACG 👊

tl;dr sign up for beginner night, doesn't hurt, good fun, great people, good nights sleep.
Start yourself off by signing up for the 'beginners night' which is 2 x 3odd hour sessions. First night you'll learn simple strikes, defence and foot work - following this you'll get to put your new moves into duelling practice against other beginners as you don the 'soft kit'.
The 2nd night is an introduction to possibly the most amusing sport you'll ever encounter - Bohurt - We had 4vs4 'fight' which you can strike your opponent in almost any manner to get them into the floor. The best part about it is that you barely feel it when you're on the receiving end of a strike!

Where to begin… the short and curlies - Such a great group and community. Good vibes 11/10, Good soup material.
To any new or aspiring individuals looking to join a sport thats fun, active, and different to every other basic sport out there… You’ve come to the right place!
Everyone is close knit, chatty and friendly and unlike other sport very open armed and welcoming!
More than willing to encourage you, giving you tips and advice, helping you to get stuck in on the action and feel like a badass in the process regardless of your knowledge on the sport.
Anyone who goes along to a session will be hard pressed to walk away without having a good time. After two sessions, you’ll be hooked with a new life long sport. I know thats what happened to me!

If you're wondering whether or not to join - just do it, you will not regret it! I started following a purely impulse buy late at night based on a sponsored ad on Facebook for their HMB Foundations course. I was extremely nervous when I rocked up for the first session of the course, not knowing what to expect and being well aware that I, to put it mildly, wasn't as fit as I once was (I blame lockdown but it definitely was from well before that!). I needn't have worried - Jake, Ira and the rest of the existing members have been welcoming, eager to impart their wisdom and genuinely just want everybody who walks through the doors to love the sport as much as they do. I come out buzzing; I see improvement and feel stronger and fitter each session, and get nothing but support and encouragement from everyone. Looking forward to learning more in the new year.

I have been training here for several months now, I showed up at the door with no experience and I can honestly say they are so welcoming. The support and training I've received so far has been outstanding and I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Very welcoming atmosphere with really helpful people with a nice sense of comradeship and really good way to blow off some steam at the end of the week if you're interested in martial arts or medieval combat you'll enjoy your self

An amazing bunch of people, great training and lots of opportunities to travel and compete, even as a new fighter. Best time I've ever had getting punched in the face!

It has been nothing short of a pleasure training with these people. It has always been a friendly and welcoming place with a superb vibe and ethos - so much so that I gladly spend over an hour one way travelling to.
Every session you leave you feel as if you have learned something. I have never found such a strong blend of martial prowess, friendship, fitness and camaraderie in one place.
If you have ever thought about doing it- just come over and try it. In life you often regret the things you didn't do the most.
