Excellent facilities for swimming. My kid took her swimming classes here. Well maintained changing room and showers too. But the membership payments was maintained by DFC and for any changes you have to speak to Aspire and then DFC which was really irritating but otherwise I very much recommend GL1 Aspire center

Took my daughter and she loved it in the Tad pool. Pool was heated and clean, jets were bubbling and toddlers all having a turn on the slide. Fun little activity to pass an hour away. Changing rooms were clean, with lots of room to get changed. Only down side is you have to pay to park your car, which is ridiculous and over priced for an 1hour stay. might as well pay a membership at a gym and get a monthly pass and parking all included. Other then that it was a good time of actively. So will rate it a 5 star. Staff were friendly also.

We went to Lunar City with our 2 1/2 year old son and a friend with their 8 year old daughter. We paid £4.50 for my son and myself on a Saturday. At first he did not like it at all as there was loud music and the room was darkened with different lasers to make it seem more moon like (I assume). One he saw our friend he was happy to jump around. I stayed on the viewing deck whilst they were playing. I found it quite hard to see all the older kids with my little man. I wouldn't recommend sending the littles into general admission, but rather go to the dedicated under 4 slots. I would recommend this to parents with older kids! They have a type of "assault course" and a tower they can climb etc. Although it can become rather smelly when you are on the lunar city landscape itself!

Feels well managed in lockdown, been for a swim twice since the reopening. Queues are well spaced, all booking online (with good availability in mornings, evenings and weekends). Turn up, get changed, swim , change go. Showers available for a rinse, some lockers available. Everything you NEED and no more.

I would have given it a much higher rating, however in recent years the cleanliness and maintenance particularly of the swimming pools, changing areas is more or less non existent. Obviously not a good thing! The car park is absolutely tiny and you can get a refund of the parking fee if you are a customer however it can be troublesome if you have children with you and luggage. The toddler pool is usually busy and if my memory serves correctly they have never switched on any of the water fountains etc. I have been visiting the pool for nearly three years. The family changing facilities are usually filthy with grime all over the floors. The temperature of the water in the showers can be just about tepid! Family changing cubicles are limited along with showers, so during busy periods you may have to wait for long periods. The swimming pools are excellent quality, it's just lack of cleaning, maybe the staff don't get paid enough or lack of maintenance schedule. Lots of rust on stainless steel due to chlorine and once again lack of cleaning. The staff are great, very friendly as everywhere else there is always one grumpy receptionist but, I guess we all have our bad days. As far as I am concerned, it's the only local swimming facility I have so I make do! I haven't used any of the other facilities so I cannot comment.

Only used the splash pool for little ones (tad pool) but pleased with facilities and water warm, multiple lifeguards who were attentive and checked we were alright, family changing rooms nice big space with bench, toddler seat and change table. Not all lockers have been upgraded to new £1 coins which means you have to purchase tokens from reception and one staff member rude about this- not our fault old pound coins are not in circulation anymore and majority of your lockers only accept them. Other than this would recommend for swimming with toddlers

Purpose built Leisure center in the heart of Gloucester with limited parking😂 Completely changed from the old Leisure center which had slides and diving boards. Great swim school for developing kids from an early age. 4 different types of pools with Barton pool being the main one. More focused on swimming than having fun as competitions are regularly held here. With lots of variety of sports and activities played here. Cafe area and facilities for the disabled also free wifi is available. Most of the staff are very professional and the lifeguards do a fantastic job which don't get noticed. To sum up one of the best Leisure centres in the country.

Love it! All sorts of activities from Yoga classes to tone & fit, personalized gym classes, SPA and swimming as well. For a full membership you are getting everything you need for getting back in the shape or spending leisure time ! Totally recommended!

Needs more parking Good sized deep pool with free sauna for the public in the viewing gallery. This place is always so hot, its physically draining. The pool is consistently deep all the way so the swimmers love it. Reasonable facilities and the cafe is good, though they could do with a few more seats. From previous experience, the cafe staff have been very helpful and hence the 4 stars.

Mostly visit here to use the toddler pool which is always lovely and warm. Have taken my toddler into the main pool once but it was absolutely freezing so didn't last long. Lockers only take new £1 coins and will not accept trolley tokens.

Decent facilities but very dirty and staff are really rude. Read on for more. We've been coming here every Sunday since November, because the Elver Pool is perfect for our daughter, who is learning to swim. The Elver Pool has all the “feel” of a “grown up pool” but our kids (5 & 7) can touch the bottom throughout. It’s located next to the Tad Pool which is too young for our kids but really perfect for slightly younger children. Unfortunately, the two larger pools are rarely open on the days we have been, although they are regularly listed as open on the website. As other reviews say, the website never matches the reality re: pool opening times. This weekend is the last weekend we will visit GL1, unfortunately. We have decided to find somewhere else to swim. We do drive 30 minutes to this leisure centre because we live in the Malvern countryside and we really value the Elver Pool. But, on our last trip, the Elver Pool was inexplicably closed. The young (21?) blonde lady on reception was very snappy and embarrassed me at the till when I asked about the opening times. Instead, we sat in the Tad Pool and let the kids go down the slide 400 times. I came home with cystitis... Must be very dirty water! That is the only other thing about GL1, worth mentioning... the dirt. Nappies, discarded wrist bands, plasters etc... grim. But you soldier on in the name of teaching your kids to swim.

Decor and carpets is now looking worn and a bit grubby in places. Took son to a fun time swim session and he loved it. Reasonable price for a child swim. Plenty of life guards one of which dived into action while we were there. Fantastic guys!

Wheelchair user that uses hoist for swimming pool. Pretty good facilities with large wet rooms. Staff really helpful. I usually go to Early morning swim twice a week and have to take a carer. There's enough room for both of us and equipment in larger changing room. The staff usually cheer me up when I'm whinging about the cold water. Toning suite is not as accessible as it once was.

Went swimming today was cleaner than last time so that's a bonus, but the pools were so cold, my daughter was shivering and her lips were purple. Not impressed other parents were complaining too, people huddled in the showers warming up..

Whilst I have had quite a few annoyances during my time at Gl1, all of them have been dealt with promptly and put right. Most of the reception staff are very helpful and friendly, especially Becky. I have found her to be exceptionally helpful and friendly, not to mention patient! There is one young man, small thin moustache, seems very young that doesn't seem to know very much If anything about how things are run and done and has been very dismissive to me and to other customers. I take my son swimming plus I go to spin classes and soon I'll be taking my younger son to swimming lessons too. I love that we have this in travelling distance to us and I see ourselves staying there for some time!

Love taking my toddler here, it is clean and the toddler pool is great! The staff on the till are very slow and the queue is always small, so I dont understand why it takes so long to pay.

My opinion is that there's to many machines & not enough free weights or at least a squat rack etc. Staff are always polite & helpful. Place has potential to be great.

Nice modern sports centre, well located in central Gloucester. Use this a lot for family swimming and with 4 pools (all not available at the same time) it rarely feels too busy. The tad pool is great for small children but is quickly out grown. The Barton pool (largest of the 4) is often used for fun sessions with floats and inflatable, however the Barton pool is insufficiently heated to point of being near dangerous and usually unbearable. Transitioning from one pool to another is done so with a risk of mild hypothermia due to open nature of communal changing area and the proximity of the open doors. Measures have been taken to improve the cleanliness of the pools and poolside areas however there appears to be a lack of staffing or pride in showcasing what could be an excellent facility.

It's reasonable sports centre had great time with my child only spoiled by unsupervised young teens fighting and bombing into the water. My concern is that 2 life guards on pool side was to busy chatting to care for the safety of the pool users as quite a few people left the pool directly as a result of lack of supervision by staff. There rules were NOT UPHELD BY STAFF.

Nice pools just a shame the big pool is always closed. The slide in small pool is a nuisance with people with little ones. Adults are unable to use it, yet you cant help them uo and watch them down at the same time. Found this really annoying when my kids were very young. Rather dirty in changing rooms and poor for parking too. Also have to go all round your hat to get from small pools to big pool and that is also freezing.there is a door there but not used??

Staff don't seem to bother with rules. People taking photos and videos when it's not allowed. Adults as well as kids going on softplay equipment with no socks on. We had to buy a pair of socks for granddaugher with ticket. Yet others were ignored by staff walking round the play area. The kids enjoyed playing there so would go again.

Organisation here is lacking. Good facilities when they remember to set them up for you. I've booked badminton and turned up to empty courts with no nets or posts. Other times it's just been the posts. On occasion we have had to help them clear the area for badminton or set up the court ourselves. Staff are friendly enough though

Lunar city was fun for the little ones and utterly shattering for the adults! It's not ideal for very small children because the older kids run wild on the apparatus without much supervision from parents or staff. The apparatus is also fairly damaged in places and a staff member spent the whole session sitting on a leak to stop kids from falling through it

used to have a fantastic olympic sized pool with diving boards but now just a 25m pool, diving area restricted to a quarter to the pool. childrens pool always busy and have to put plastics shoes on to enter changing rooms. very poor experience but kids not as fussy

It was ok to we went to the tadpool and didn't think it was great seeing as it supposed to be suitable for babies there was a lot of older children splashing and jumping etc. Not many family changing areas either and out of all of them only one or two of them had a baby changing table

We've only used the toddler and children's pool but they are well maintained and the pool temperature is higher than local pools in or near Stroud. We tend to park in the Asda opposite as it is free. We then buy something from Asda afterwards to cover our parking. 😋

My membership covers Gym Fitness classes Individual programmes Spa, Sauna, Steam room and jacuzzi. Swimming pools Badminton courts Squash courts Table tennis. I like GL1 because I am able to achieve a healthy lifestyle using the above facilities. Some times I feel like hitting the weights in the gym or other times I may participate in a fitness class. Examples are Yoga/pilates/ core fit/ spinning / and a lot more. I also enjoy relaxing in the marine spa just to unwind. I recommend it to everyone from young to mature . Any race gender everyone is made to feel welcomed at GL1. The staff are amazing and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth popping down and having a chat with them especially now summer is kicking in.

I have been a member here now for a few years and it represents incredible value. The main reason I joined was for the gym, which is well equipped with a nice friendly atmosphere - although the playlist could do with a tweak! The real bonus is having access to racquet courts, the spa, swimming pools, spin and other classes - so the price I pay gets me a lot for the money (corporate rate). After 3pm it is free to park in the dedicated GL1 car park although I usually park across the road in Asda (never had an issue). A nice community and family friendly service that provides everything I need to meet my exercise needs.
