Very friendly welcoming staff. Helpful and always have a smile which is nice. The County League players are very nice and talk to you to make you feel comfortable even if they don't know you which is a blessing and puts you at ease. The tables are lovely to play on and very fast so iv been told and can see when I watch the matches. Food is good and tasty so would recommend that to even though it is fish fingers or a burger with chips!!!!

Great place to hang out with your mates. Not many snooker tables around now. So this place is are number 1 go to. They also have American pool tables with massive pockets.

Very friendly little place. Has quite a few dart boards, 11 English pool tables, 4 American pool tables and 3 full size snooker tables. A wide range of beer on tap. Pub grub. Had many decent nights here.

Been a few times now, good selection of tables, 9 and 8 ball tables downstairs with snooker upstairs, even free dart boards. Just the bar staff let it down, every time I go I feel like I’ve interrupted them from their mobiles. I ordered a cheeseburger which took a nice hour 20 minutes to be made.

Second visit. Nice pool tables for 9 ball/8 ball games. Get there early as its popular. Same uninterested bar staff both times who act slightly strangely and eye you suspiciously and can barely be bothered to serve and you feel as if you are interrupting their conversation. Mate order a burger which took hour and a quarter to cook then they left it on the bar and flashed the light for him to collect. Too busy talking to each other to cook a burger and bring it over in a reasonable time frame. Nice place just odd behaviour from the bar staff but that's all too common these days. Customers are an inconvenience it seems.

The beer is ok and fairly priced. The pool tables are well looked after, but not the cues, most resemble Bananas. The bar staff could learn to smile more but my biggest gripe is the hand driers in the gents. You want dry hands to play pool and these are woefully inadequate and need updating. Will be trying other venues before I return.

Love this place. Has improved since current owners have taken over, focusing on English, American pool, snooker and darts while offering friendly service and sports tv. Food can improve, but I don't think anyone goes to a pool bar for the food, so doesn't affect the stars of this review. Free but limited parking.

Great local snooker and pool place, tables of really good quality and are really well looked after. Chicken bites are absolutely awesome from the snack menu which is served 12-9 I believe. If there was one improvement I wouldn't mind a day or two every so often of discounted snooker for say 3/4 hours of play 😀😀 Highly recommended for anyone interested in pool or snooker.

I visits Bears often as its a great venue to spend time socially, have a few drinks and enjoy some casual bowling. The food is fantastic, tastes great and the service was very prompt. Price wise it wasn't the cheapest but it definitely won't break the bank! the staff are very friendly and always keen to help and having recently watched the froch groves boxing match there it provided an electric atmosphere ... Would recommend to anyone as a place to visit. Two thumbs up.

But to be quite honest bar staff were very quiet and didn't want to associate or chat with me or ny group if friends.... Seemed as though if your face don't fit you get minimal customer service... Feels though money is key not customer relations....

Nice place. I remember this place when it was a rundown old furniture store and then a thrown together boxing gym. To see what was basically a complete heap area of Ipswich turn into something rather cool is encouraging. Well done Bears! Now the high street, that's a different matter!

I was seriously impressed with Bears having gone for some beers, bowling and food after work. I went in a group of 5 on a quiet wednesday night and had a great time. The bowling and beers were good and the food was exactly what I'd expect from the American theme (big portions, meaty and full of flavour) The bowling was good and easy to arrange. It was £15 for an hour on the lanes and we didn't have to change shoes which was a plus. The bowling was the standard experience and I had no complaints. I'd heard some negative reviews about the skittles being on strings (which did seem odd) but the system worked just great; they re-racked a lot faster than normal which stopped lots of the down time you normally get. The food was brilliant for me and it appears the place has benefited from the new chef that is mentioned in the comments below. I had the Lewbowski burger which consisted of beef, bacon and pulled pork in a burger. It was a very American burger, pretty indulgent and full of meat. I struggle to hate anything with beef and pulled pork in it so it was prefect for me. The hotdogs also looked good. The type of food may not suit all tastes but if you want the American diner experience that's exactly what you get. Overall, a good night. Would definitely go back.

Just had our crew wrap party at Bear's a big thank you to Charlie and his awesome team for making it all happen at such short notice, this is a real hidden gem, friendly and accomodating staff, great atmosphere and even better food. Who knew Ipswich could be this much fun??!!! We'll be back.

This isn’t a bowling alley anymore it’s a pool and snooker club. And it’s really good. They have basket meals and breakfasts. Loads of dart boards,8 I think. 9 ball and 15 ball pool on American tables. English pool. Snooker tables upstairs. fruitys,juke box. Good beers on tap.
