Reviews of Charlton Lido and Lifestyle Club
T.
Love this lido so much!!!! On a summers day it is just blissful. Does not feel like you are in a big city at all. It does get busy though but the lanes are wide and long. A pleasure!
T. C.
Super clean, super big, super awesome lido! Cheap parking outside (£1 an hour), contactless payment for locker tokens (30p each) and easy booking online. Can’t wait to go back!
E. L.
Nice, smallish gym. Never usually too busy. The pool is great too, Olympic size. The pool and poolside changing rooms have seen better days and could do with a spruce up but they're perfectly fine. In order to upgrade they would have to shut the pool for a while and that would not go down well with the swimmers
M. L.
A wonderful Better Lifestyle Club with a spacious swimming pool, gym, outdoor and indoor group classes. I am teaching traditional Hatha Yoga classes and I love this place, the students and staff.
D. P.
Be prepared for the outside pool, its obvious but even heated to 25degrees it's very bracing in the winter.
Took our two children and even in their wetsuits it was too cold to play and practise for long.
Also, a note for parents: even though it says free swim, we definitely got some angry looks from other pool users for not swimming laps even though we were in the 1/4 of the pool designated the free swim area. We were trying to teach some basic swimming technique but it became a bit awkward with others in the free swim area so we left.
J. B.
Friendly staff, 50m, usually not too busy. The only issue is the weather 😂
Outdoor and indoor changing facilities. Just don't expect the showers to be too strong.
S. H.
Awesome lido, my new fave in London. Heated, so it’s not too intensely cold. Lovely people, nice wide swimming lanes. It was divided into 4 lanes when I was there; slow, medium x2 and fast.
Toilets and changing rooms available poolside. Lockers that take coins. 4 poolside showers. Cafe onsite. Car park outside which was around £2.20 for 2 hours.
They were also very smooth with the Covid-adaptations, it all felt very safe 👌 Download the ‘Better’ app to book your swim slot
S.
Superb lido for active swimming, good-sized pool, outside showers, changing rooms, good access by car or bike.
C. L.
50m outdoor swimming pool, which is perfect for warm days. It's very clean and not too crowded. Recommended
C. G.
This is a great outdoor pool, with great facilities all round. The current Covid-19 situation is being well managed with pre-booking only, no cash transactions, a one-way system of separate entrance & exit routes and various restrictions on physical distancing. There's a turnstile to exit and I was quite happy to get through it with my folded Brompton bike!😆 It felt great to be swimming again since before the lockdown😎
M. L.
This is a great pool but sadly the water is too cold, unlike other ‘Better’ lidos like London Fields and the Oasis Centre. On a hot day it can’t be beaten.
c. s.
It is excellent, though not cheap at £10 a swim for non-members. But given that it is a beautiful, Olympic-sized outdoor pool in which to chill out in the heat, I decided to treat myself. I liked it so much I took out a membership on a monthly rolling contract, so no commitment to a lengthy membership. At 35 quid a month it is much cheaper if you're going there twice a week or more, and still cheaper even if you only go once a week. It is heated but still cool enough for a refreshing dip. It also has generously sized lanes to allow the super-swimmers to overtake without kicking you! I love it.
Z. C.
The pool wasn't too busy, some of the lifeguards were miserable and some were amazingly friendly. We went to an all swimming session and spent a good few hours in the non-swimming lane section. £10 Per adult for the session is alittle steep though as the session may have been cut short if it was busier.
C.
Booked up as I knew today would be nice for an outdoor swim after work. It was fantastic to be swimming in the sun and quite a few people sitting in the sun. I'm a Better member so did think I would get discount but no, still had to pay £10. That's fine for an ocassional treat but too much to go regularly unfortunately.
T.
50 metre outdoor pool, which is simply my happy place. Lots of reviews focus on the summer. However, my favourite time is the winter - this is one of only two heated lidos in London and the humour and hard-work of the staff ensure it remains the perfect place to swim whatever the weather (except lightning). Membership brings the cost down to just over £1 a day. One of my favourite memories of last year was a 40 minute swim after dark in heavy snow. It was like swimming in a giant snow globe. Thank goodness for the hot poolside showers. Take a hot water bottle in the winter for the journey home.
L. M.
Had a great early morning swim
Lovely staff and good clean changing room
Great experience swimming in the dark with the mist over the water
i. f.
I've been here quite a few times. As far as lido's go, it's lovely. The water is just warm enough, not freezing, but a bit bracing as you get in. Once you get started it's fine! I'd give it 5 stars, but the lockers are outdoors which is really annoying when you've got out of the pool and you're coldly fumbling to get your towel out! Also the loos are separate from the changing rooms and you have to walk outside to get to them. In the changing room there are hot showers and hairdryers, everything I need!
I. B.
50m outdoor heated pool and as such almost unique. Done up in the Olympics in 2012. Currently there are only hot drinks available at reception and you need to book in using your phone or the app. Hopefully one day will be able to use the cafe and members space again in the future and maybe sit around and sunbathe a bit more. Not yet though. There's also a gym here. I've never used it!
S. K.
This pool is such a fantastic facility. The staff are really friendly. The fact this pool has been open all year round is brilliant. It's just warm enough to swim without a wetsuit. Changing rooms are clean and the showers are good. Now it's starting to get sunny I'm sure it'll become a lot more popular
S. H.
My favourite place to swim all year round, especially in the winter.
T. H.
Wowser, love outdoor swimming and at Charlton Lido you can do it in 25 degree temperature even in December. Great place and great staff
F. N.
I love swimming in the heated outdoor pool, particularly on winter evenings with the stars clear in the sky above.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The gym and activity room are bright and well presented.
E.
Sadly no longer live near here but it’s definitely the best lido in London. Friendly staff, clean facilities and timings are well managed throughout the day. Swimmers follow pool etiquette, very pleasant swimming experience and managed really well by BETTER.
A. E.
My favourite place to swim and get some exercise. Run perfectly by efficient staff.
T.
You can't beat Charlton lido for a great swim in a 50m outdoor pool. You need to book before with Better. Nice, welcoming staff. Thoroughly recommend.
L. M.
Beautiful 50m pool, well maintained, clean facilities. They have the friendliest staff, and great lessons. The swim doctor sessions are just brilliant. It's easy enough at get to, car parking is hassle free with a cheap carpark onsite, plus street car parking too
s. l.
It was okay you’re my best friend check the kids to the park as lido Wasn’t open and had no water in it but all in all it was a good afternoon
M. B.
Excellent venue. The reception and pool staff (Alex) were extremely helpful with a booking issue.
M. C.
Felt the pool facilities very basic was just 2 pools and a concrete floor. At £25 for a family of 3 price was quite high. Pools apparently heated but are freezing. Hard to book on the website, need to use the ap. Free parking on the street.
C. C.
Very well presented, clean and tidy and not too busy. Only downsides were that the pool was freezing cold (apparently it's heated?), and the lockers are non-returnable, so take plenty of 20p coins)
A. C.
Fantastic pool with very welcoming staff. Hot showers by the poolside ,big area to sunbathe. ,lockers by the pool Plenty of space to swim 3 people can swim alongside. Excellent.
R. H.
Lovely big lanes and heated pool.
S. S.
Really great pool and very clean!!! Not so busy aswell and warm water (a small tip for when coming here bring 0.20£ pence for lockers)
T. B.
Great club, i use the gym, attend all manner of different classes, staff and class teachers are super friendly and helpful, and the pool is nice especially on a sunny day. Free street parking also onsite parking is cheap, nice flower garden in the park to relax in after a workout 😊
E. C.
Lovely outdoor heated pool and it was incredibly quiet when I went. Shame the cafe was closed - and there's not much else around - but the pool itself is lovely.
M. H.
Perfection. Hidden gem!
Updated on 10 Jan 2022:
Still a great pool BUT the temperature is generally much colder. It used to be 25C when I first came here 5 years ago, now they advertise it as 23C but I don't think it often gets much above 20C.
I used to swim for at least an hour, I can't now last for 30 mins without getting too cold and have to get out even if I'm not tired. No wonder more and more people use a wet suit in a heated pool! I think they are now trying to keep the Gas bill down...even though they now charge £10 for a casual swim.
A. K.
Sunny day, and open air swimming pool are the best. Very relaxed environment.
Connectivity isn't great, bit far from North Greenwich to walk.
J.
A little paradise. Feels like a mini holiday. And the pool is heated!
L. P.
Great place to swim in the open air. Can get very busy on very hot days.
O. O.
Very nice pool especially on a warm and sunny day - a bit pricey
J. S. C.
I went there when it had just reopened and stepping into the heated pool was bliss after many years spent jumping into unheated water, both outdoor pools and sea swimming. I need to board the #89 and take myself back again. Hurrah.
A. G.
Really nice place, huge pool and lots of sunbathing space around the edge. Not-so-central location means it’s nowhere near as busy as London Fields/Tooting when it gets sunny.
M. M.
This is a great place! It is really well maintained and always clean. The pool is the best one I have found and I looked in at least 8 countries. The gym is full of light and looks out at the pool. But what really makes it is the staff. They are always helpful, pleasant and welcoming. There is no problem they haven't been able to solve. This has to be one the best health clubs anywhere.
P. K.
Went during tier 4 lockdown. Great experience- there are lockers for use poolside and showers for rinsing off.
Now closed due to National lock down but was a great option for exercise when it was open and indoor pools were closed
M. A.
Where the sky is blue and the sun is shining, the Lido is the perfect place for a swim.
S. W.
The Lido is an excellent place for serious swimming. Come beach ready as the changing rooms are closed; but all abilities welcome as long as you can swim 50 metres
2.
Nice place to have a swim. I went here with the kids during a very hot summers day. Place was packed with queues going around the corner
I'm sure it regularly gets like this on hot days, so it's best to pre-book online and then show them your ticket to get in. The Lido has a kids pool and a larger 50m pool which is self-heated, haven't experienced the pool when heated yet, as I have only been there on a hot day. The upkeep of the place wasn't too bad and I was quite impressed with how clean the pool and surroundings were, especially with how packed the pool was. Will definitely visit again.
A. P.
I enjoyed my swim but didn't get why the slow lane is not near the wall. Wouldn't it be safer for poor swimmers?
M. B.
Open air swimming, felt quite safe and great to get some real exercise! The limited entry helps stop overcrowding but it did still feel busy. Lanes weren't cramped though.
The lockers keep your 20p which I hate.
Twix was £1.30!
Staff were great, sessions well run and nice and clean in reception.
L. B.
Today was my second visit, the first was Monday and enjoyed it so much booked for today.
After taking over an hour to get over the Dartford crossing because of traffic my friend and myself missed our booked swimming slot, the staff where brilliant, checked our booking and allowed us to go straight in. All the staff are so friendly especially the young man who I think is Italian
We had a great swim, being able to use flippers and hand paddles was a bonus (not allowed in my normal pool )
All in all a fantastic experience
.
M. R.
Brilliant 50m swimming pool, wide as well as long, heated all year round so nice and warm even in winter. Plenty of changing and showering capacity too, and lots of room to lounge by the pool in summer.
N. D.
So spacious and love the pool although feel sorry for those life guards sitting on their seats without any weather protection. Could use more outdoor changing space to the right of the pool instead of benches maybe.
M. J. B.
You know it's gd when you don't mind if it's not perfect. If you go late it's useful to have a torch on yr phone when changing. So what if the showers aren't hot or you really feel the cold getting out. What's not to love. An authentic outdoor pool with sex appeal and lanes big enough for everyone.
M. M. W.
Went here for the first time on Monday to use the lido. I had to book a time slot which was great for me as it gave me confidence that it wouldn't be too crowded. I must say this is the friendliest Lido I have ever been to! The staff were kind, friendly and really welcoming.
M.
I go there for my aqua swimming, I'm enjoying myself.
D.
Great but the refund system takes months to take and why would i need a proove i paid when all evidence is on the app? I dont dont get it, you developed the app which is not bad, but you should access these informations...you create an extra hassle for people who request refund , they have to go to bank, take photo of statement, from the app, its unessesary. Otherwise i'd give 5 stars as i liked the Covid organisation, management.
S. F.
The good:
The pool is large, clean and great to cool down in on a hot day. The park area at the front is relaxing and the staff on the front desk are friendly, polite and helpful.
The not so good:
Pool rules are flouted with impunity. Kids wreak havoc with little or no reaction from the male life guards. The parents of these children seem oblivious to the impropriety, often joining in. Sprinting and leaping across along wet poolsides isn't very sensible!
Lane swimming isn't very relaxing when it's busy. Many people seem incapable of understanding the signs indicating which direction to swim in. Some people just muck around in the middle of lanes making it little better than the 'fun swim' section of the pool at times. A few of the lifeguards do virtually nothing to stop this.
On a busy day in summer they often run out of lockers. Not great if you're popping in for a swim and have no one staying poolside the whole time. If you wait around you eventually get one.
It's quite expensive. I regularly swim in central London and pay £5 a swim in an indoor pool compared to £6 here.
J. D.
Almost as good as a holiday in the med. Family friendly and really great staff. You always feel as though you've been spoilt
G. L.
Lovely. Nice gym and studio with natural light and nice views. Nice staff and great classes. Outdoor heated pool and terrace and cafe at roof level. Would be better if cleaner in some areas eg outdoor female changing room and showers, better equipped gym and more yoga.
M. O.
A wonderful "hidden gem" in Charlton. We are so lucky to have a place like this. I've been swimming in the rain, at night in the dark and even when it's been snowing! It's always a great experience as the pool is heated and during the off-peak season, it's often fairly empty with lots of space for a swim. The gym is great too and is rarely overly busy, even after work and at the weekends. There's plenty of modern equipment to use and a variety of classes to attend.
A. V. M.
Only visited to take my dog for a walk around the park grounds: nice little place
D. H.
Sunday 29th May, this is the seventh alternative BETTER swimming pool and the second lido I visited during the closure of the Aquatic Centre(for 2016 European Aquatics Championship). Very pleasant morning swim in the outdoor until I saw a wound dressing at the bottom in the middle of the pool. More vigilant cleaning work needed!
I arrived at the venue at 9:45am, staff at the reception reminded me and my friend that we'd need to change some 20p coins to operate the non-refundable lockers. I did ask her if I could leave my huge backpack aside without locking it as there's nothing valuables inside, and I'll need to take things out and use two lockers instead. She told me no, however the pool guards told me otherwise.
The pool itself is 50 metres in length, with half of the pool at 1-1.2 metres in depth and slowly increased to 2 metres at the other half of the pool. Water is super clean comparing with the London Fields Lido, HOWEVER, I did spot a couple of hair pins and a WOUND DRESSING at the bottom in the middle of the pool!!! By the state of it, I suspect that it's been sitting there for quite some time. Something that the management need to focus on soon!
The showers were really good and changing room is very clean. Free hair dryers for customers to use in the changing room as well. (Take notes, London Fields!) Only other thing I'd like see is a spin dryer for the swimwear as they're really handy to use after a nice swim.
I'm definitely going back again soon!
G. C.
Great place for open air swimming on a sunny day, took my grand daughter today and we had a fantastic time. However you need to pre book your slot, which is easily done on line.
D. T.
This is part of the better fitness clubs in royal Greenwich council. This club has a large outdoors pool with multiple swimming lanes. The are multiple life guards on duty who pay close attention to what people are doing. There are lockers for valuables and places to lie down for relaxation. Also above the pool is a cafe where you can get a coffee or a soft drink and a small snack.
Whether you are a member or not you can use the pool via online reservations for a small fee. Being a member only entitles you to a 2 pound discount for the one hour pool reservation. But if you do stay over no one is there to ask you to leave.
T. M.
This is a great place- nice gym and swimming pool with friendly staff.
They only offer 2 blue badge spaces which, given how busy they get during the summer months and the parking difficulties, is disappointing because they offer alot more non-blue-badge parking.
The gym has a steady stream of people focused on their fitness and the treadmills offers a variety of media to use while walking/running.
You can track your usage using the "My Wellness" app and set targets.
Unfortunately wheelchair users still need to ask a receptionist to open the gate for entry to the gym while non- wheelchair members can let themselves in; this may seem like a silly thing to mention but when there is a queue of 10 people waiting for the receptionist it becomes very annoying.
N. L.
I love the pool as I love swimming. Sadly have a serious shoulder injury and need to recover, so I can return to the Pool as well. Nice clean and amazingly friendly staff ! Highly recommended.
P. N.
Modern, friendly, good staff all very helpful & knowledgeable . Have been a member since it opened in 2012.
At Charlton Lido and Fitness Centre - the quality of equipment, well maintained. Good range of classes with highly competent instructors. Lovely 50m outside pool. Friendly and approachable staff who are always polite and listen to you.
A. H.
Charlton Lido is an amazing venue for al fresco swimming. There are plenty of lanes and this is Olympic pool size. The changing rooms are clean. I recommend becoming a member so you can use the sun terrace when its hot outside. The water temperature is warm all year round and it's an invigorating experience.
L. G.
No queue, no big crowd, clean. Friendly and supportive staff.
S. B.
Fantastic place, but admission fee too high. Please reduce xx
L. S.
Blissful to take a swim outdoors in warm water. Plenty of changing sheds, lockers, and places to leave belongings. Thoroughly recommend!
J. L.
Great Gym never too busy. The Lido is also great but does get very busy on sunny days; particularly when it’s school holidays. Quite expensive though at about £7 a swim.
V. C.
Wowee, wonderful! One of the best and cleanest Lidos in the UK! With charming, friendly staff!
W. D.
Lovely facility but I'm not convinced that it is the best place to come for regular and continuous uninterrupted lane swimming for a fitness workout - the reason I swim at all. The water is cool and the pool is long - both essential for serious continuous lane fitness workouts. There are downsides though, which can't be ignored: the lanes are narrow, which can annoy swimmers passing in the opposite direction if you catch an arm or kick someone doing breast stroke. Also, I don't want to pay for parking to come either here regularly either - a couple of quid three times a week soon mounts up. Why are the women's toilets in a different place to the rest of the changing areas? This not ideal either. Reluctantly, I am likely to continue going to Crystal Palace for my swims even though that is far from ideal either - for different reasons. This place is ideal for a relaxing doggy paddle in the warm sunshine in summer, but if you really want a workout there might be better places elsewhere, even if the pool is half the Olympic size of this one (and Crystal Palace)
J. B.
Absolutely amazing place to go too lovely scenery and I could little place to come to during the summer as well
G. W.
Affordable, well maintained, heated outdoor pool open year round that gets predictably busy on sunny weekends, but which otherwise offers a relaxed swimming experience in a pleasantly secluded setting. Open (with more limited hours) during the winter for those brave enough!
h. m.
Amazing 50m outside pool. The water is heated during the winter and the pool is usually kept very clean. You might want to get in early on busy days as it can get very crowded and dirty due to the sheer number of people. The staff work hard to keep the pool clean though and there are plenty of lifeguards on duty.
D. M.
The best Better Gym! I am happy to be back after a 4 year hiatus. The gym is well kept and really clean. Love the heated swimming pool. Staff is super friendly and toiletries are high quality.
H. O.
Came here for the first time on a very rainy day and I had to say the visit was so pleasant. I was immediately greeted by the most friendliest of staff Adnaan (sorry if it’s misspelled!) who really helped me overcome my water shyness (probably a phobia, who knows?) and let me know about the depth of the pool and also recommended swimming courses for me. Have to say this guy made a very scary experience absolutely awesome. Thanks so much!
C. c.
Lovely heated outdoor Olympic sized pool. Friendly staff and nice facilities in general. On sunny days it's best to "book" a slot online which saves waiting at the front desk.
R. L.
The facilities - and in particular the pool - are second to none. The centre is excellently managed - Lauren is extremely keen to engage with users and to follow up on their suggestions wherever possible. The staff are uniformly welcoming and friendly, and make every visit a pleasure; particular recognition is due to the lifeguards whose cheery demeanour is unaffected by even the worst winter weather.
J. F.
Top pool but book online. This is such a good pool for a quiet lap-swimming session but I was a bit surprised to turn up and find it costs £7 a session. Book online and you only pay £6. The staff are so nice as well.
S. M.
What a gem the Lido is. In these Covid times it is well managed, staff are friendly. It really is somewhere to escape to, no 2 swims are the same, swim as the sun rises, the sun sets, in the pouring rain, in the sunshine......
V. F.
Great outdoor lido , full 50m and it’s heated so great in winter. I’ve never used the indoor gym facility but the pool and tennis courts are all good. Pool is £6 and tennis courts £3.
R. W.
Note: Parking Fines are very rapid and expensive - £100 . 10 minutes late, e.g because there was a a queue, or delay getting changed or you were buying food in the cafe and there is a risk of a £100 fine.
One of the best, if not the best, lido in London. 50m long.
The pool is heated and clean , the changing facilities are good. For many of the lidos in London the changing are a bit lacking
You pay for parking an they are very fast at giving out fines. A real shame.
You can use wetsuits if you want to, but don't need to as it is heated.
There is a cafe for post workout and a week equipped gym
o. “. o.
The bike sheds get full quickly. I am not sure they are being used by customers of the lido but the park that surrounds it.
S. H.
Great facilities, smart gym, outdoor spin class and excellent pool. Not too busy either. Helen on reception was extra helpful and welcoming when we signed up. Have tried one or two classes there and enjoyed them.
m. p.
Great outdoor swimming pool with good facilities can become overcrowded when it's hot. Your better membership won't cover the cost as the lido is separate
A. J.
Love the outdoor pool on a September evening at sunset.
D. T.
Ah the joys of outdoor swimming. This is a large pool, is a lot longer than most indoor pools. This can have the effect of feeling a bit weak, when you can only manage 10 lengths.
The facilities were clean enough, although its a bit of pain carrying your gear out of the changing rooms and on to the "forecourt" where all the lockers are.
G. P.
The lido is fantastic. The cardio section in the club is good. Unfortunately there isnt room for much else. I imagine it would be difficult to expand but the club feels dated with lots of potential.
B. P.
This is one of the best outdoor pools in London. It's 50 meters (so double the size of most indoor ones) and there is a nice lounge area for members at the top next to the café. The service at the café is laughably slow and terrible, so maybe pack a lunch. It's £6 entry to the pool or £4 if you're a member of another Better gym and book online before you go.
R.
Pool was too cold to enjoy swimming. (I mean I know it's outdoors, but I wouldn't go back unless we had had a few days of really hot weather.)
K. W.
Wonderful pool, always recharging to swim here. Wish the changing rooms would be a little more modern for regular swimmers but it's a lido at the end of the day too
A. B.
The pool is nice but it’s hard to find. The website says the 53 bus stops just outside. I tried two 53s but neither of the drivers had heard of it. I ended up in Blackheath and had to walk a long way back!
B. S.
We're back in business - the punters, that is. Great spot to swim in the sunshine. The management seem to have a good system in place to get people back in COVID times. Thank you!
C. B.
Very busy but clean pool! Great staff! Some people that go here are slightly annoying but well worth the money. I would recommend paying online before going as it’s cheaper and easier to get in and quicker
D. L.
Great place to swim in a 50m pool! They also allow wetsuits, so ideal for the triathletes out there. Only down side is that it is £6 a casual swim.
P. M.
Amazing place, so lucky to have this in Charlton!
O. D.
Fantastic pool. 50m long & heated. Book online and use a Greenwich Card, if you have one, to save money. Alternatively get a 'Better Swim' membership at £29.50/month to swim there, & lots of other pools for 'free' (check the terms on the website - phenomenal value). Advert over!
G. K.
Book online and you are fast tracked to the head of the queue. On the hottest day of the year and a very long queue, it was a game changer. Lovely pool. Clean, good amenities and courteous staff.
A. S.
Nice gym with modern equipment. Lido pool is heated, can get a bit crowded in the summer and is also open in the winter. Lido has a nice cafe. Spin classes are in outdoor studio in the summer.
F. W.
Gym not busy, all respectful of other users and social distancing and kept to time slots. Swimming was busy, but time slots system seems to be working efficiently.
N. P.
Lovely pool for a swim, really well organised.
A. D.
Really friendly staff, can't do enough for you. special mention to the PT Paul in the gym, top bloke and really knows his stuff, recommend a session with him. Chelsea on the reception was excellent too and was so helpful with our enquiries. Will defo return every time we visit shooters hill.
V. K.
One of my favourite places in London, fantastic pool and very friendly staff
T. P.
Surely the best lido in London. Heated and uncrowded. What more can you ask for!
N. B.
Big outdoor pool with some decent facilities though changing areas could do with being improved. Not the easiest to get to for people who don't live directly in Charlton but worth a swim on a nice day.
D. G.
Charlton Lido is an undiscovered jewel in the Lido world. 50m, heated and very friendly. Which means there's nearly always space for a good swim. Nearly always 25C, except after high winds blow off the covers overnight!
c. s.
I like the heated outdoor 50m swimming pool which is good for exercising ...cant say much as to the other facilities as i haventused them ...it is a bit pricey but hey i would rather pay a bit extra for something im going to be satisfied with than pay a bit less and come out feeling shortchanged...
K. M.
Fantastic 50m outdoor heated pool, generally not too busy even on a weekend. Only drawback is that the showers tend to go cold after about midday on the weekend - not very pleasant in winter.
T.
went there the other day when it was 30 degrees. Was really busy probably because I went on a sunday. First the water is a bit cold but when you get in you feel warmer in the water then out of it. They have a cafe there that sells icecream, hotdogs, drinks e.t.c. There is parking there for cars and bikes. I recommend to buy tickets online as then you don't have to wait in the queue.
R. F.
Good gym with preserved and modern equipment, lot of classes available to assist despite I did not got to any yet, but seems to be crowded, the only turn down is that pool is outdoor and in my opinion it is just a little bit cold, forget to swim all winter here
M. B.
Very nice and friendly open air swimming place. 50 metres. The area around the pool could be nicer. Green and trees? Place for sun bathing picnic rest and play.
N. J.
I have been here several times and what a gem it is. Brilliant pool and great location. Had an acceptable coffee in the upstairs cafe and splendid views.
L. M.
Love the lido, especially over the winter when it's a small but dedicated batch of regulars! The lifeguards are extremely friendly and the facilities are always clean.
M. D.
Nice facility. Been to the swimming pool and the tennis courts. If you want to go swimming don't forget to bring 20p with you for the lockers. You might want a few as you don't get them back.
A. S.
First time back at the gym... Staff very friendly. Well organised with safe distancing and cleaning equipment. Loved it. Ashley
L. J.
Love it that’s all I can say.
K. W.
Great gym and classes, clean welcoming facilities, topped off by a huge outdoor pool. Great for the summer, heated for the winter. Perfect!
C. L.
50 M outdoor heated pool. Amazing specially in winter. Unique place for outdoor swimming. There is also a coffee place and members only solarium for spring/ summer.
C. E.
Fabulous heated outdoor swimming pool. Olympic size
M. K.
Visited the swimming pool in the summer, it gets very busy during hot days but still a great large pool to refresh, swim and sunbath on the side of the pool.
S. v. T.
It’s clean, friendly staff and not over crowded. Good selection of classes and I love the pool - especially the fact it’s open all year around!
J. B.
The pool is expensive but they are managing social distancing really well. Superb 50 metre pool with tons of room for overtaking.
Y. C.
The Facility is good. but the website is misleading. there is an Icon on better swimming service saying No Joining Fee. but the initial cost break down shows that there is an enrollment fee.
What is the difference between Joining Fee and Enrollment/Activate Fee. I think it is pretty confusing.
L. B.
The place was quite packed but I was there on the hottest Saturday of the year so far so it's totally understandable. Still there was enough space to swim an have some fun in the water.
J. J.
Lovely atmosphere for day out swim. Cafe service was excellent .Management need to provide more entertainment to families with kids in swimming pool.overall was good on sunny hot weather !
B. C.
So nice to swim in the sun normally gets very busy in the summer but with the current restrictions its busy but not overcrowded
R. D.
Absolutely amazing staff. Well done guys
j. o.
I was therewhen I was 10 or 12 .
Now I am a lot older. It has bin over 50 years since I was there last. A lot has changed.
S. D.

A. B.

I. P.
Nothing beat a local outdoor pool after work ❤️
S. M.
what an amazing place .. can't believe I never went there for all these years .. lovely staff
just wish people give litre respect to the life guards there. I recommend this place for all ages and types of peeps... Lido you rock👍🏼
R. L.
beautiful outdoor pool for families
H. T.
Friendly staff, gorgeous pool!
G. Q.
Well maintained and some excellent facilities.
V. H.
Brilliant Lido, clean, and friendly staff. On hot days it does get incredibly busy and there isn't much shade. If you still want to go, book online to avoid the queues.
j. p.
Maybe not the most scenic area / views but friendly staff / lovely clean heated outdoor pool and good facilities. Well worth the trip from central London.
D.
Really nice outside pool. Not too expensive. A little difficult to swim lengths though at the shallow end gets quite shallow.
S. A.
Well organised, very clean and outdoor changing. Great swim!
C.
If you like swimming and are a fifty-metres-kinda-guy, get yourself over to Charlton lido. It's a bit breezy when you get out afterwards, but that's only in the winter. What's not to like?
c. m.
Large outdoor pool. Friendly staff and clean facilities. I love coming here with my 4 year old in the sunny weather.
C. H.
Great outdoor pool, really enjoy my swim here and its very good value if you go swimming regularly
J. R.
Excellent pool. Clean and not overly busy. Gym facilities are great. Staff are friendly. Would highly recommend.

N. i.

T. G.
One of London's hidden treasures. Great staff, great pool.
E. R.
The place has a great ambiance and a well equipped facility.. however, the lessons / exercises that they ought to upload for members are not really uploaded by the staff responsible for it..
R. G.
If you're a keen swimmer, visit early on a sunny weekend morning and this pool is quite simply... HEAVEN!
C. C.
Love it for kids and good weather and hours on pool side with kids having fun cafe there with reasonable prices you can take your own food
A. S.
Nice big pool to swim in. Lots of hot buff guys to check out in the summer with their tips off. Very nice place in the summer.
G. B.

C. S.

Great place to visit on a sunny day! Nice little upstairs café, and changing facilities are all above board, hot water showers and changing cubicals.

S. A.

N. B.
Love the pool. Changing rooms needs cleaning and too expensive to swim often.
M. S.
Great public outdoor swimming facility, take several towels - no soft surface to lye on
j. g.
Great pool plenty of room to swim even when it's crowded.
N. B.
Not been since I was a kid, but its been renovated since then so should be nicer.
J. K.
Always packed in here, however they have fresh bakery product and fresh produces are dirt cheap compare to the major supermarket chains.
n. c.
