Reviews of Copper Box Arena
S. C.
Went here to the London Lion's basketball game, tickets are very reasonably priced. It is not the biggest arena but the atmosphere is still there. There are some cool light as seen in the pictures below. The staff are nice and GO LONDON LIONS!
A. J.
London Lions are a British professional basketball team based in Stratford, East London, England, and compete in the British Basketball League, the top tier of British basketball. The team was originally founded in 1977 as the Hemel Hempstead Lakers, and has previously been based in Hemel Hempstead, Watford and later Milton Keynes. The team moved to London in 2012 and, since 2013, has played its home games at the Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
In 2017, the Lions launched a women's team into the Women's British Basketball League after partnering with and rebranding the existing Barking Abbey Crusaders team as the London Lions.[2]

Superb facility for different sports and activities. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great location!
J. T.
We visited for the England Hockey game on the 30th January and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Transport access was easy and and a nice walk with the family through Queen Elizabeth.
Toilet facilities ok, very clean venue, food was brilliant considering they had a gluten free offer for my daughter and range was great.
Will definitely be back next year.
M. E.
Well lit and organised arena.
Close feel seating for basketball.
Food drink and toilet facilities, all clean and accessible without disturbing any of the view or game to others.
Music and entertainment, dancers and all the razamataz
associated with the American game.
You'll feel like a local fan!

Went there to see for the first time the london lions!!! Great match great atmosphere
F. C.
Only ever been there for the boxing, pretty average venue, descent view, helpful stewards, place always feels half empty, transport could be better,
J. M.
First time there. I went to see the basketball, only had the bottom 2 tiers open. Easy to get food and had good disabled access
P. F.
Good fun for an event. Don't expect great service though.
S. S.
Cool area, nice facilities. Staff were polite and helpful. I went to play basketball this evening and it was the first time I’ve ever been to Copper Box. Got a little lost whilst driving due to the construction work going on, so look out for diversion signs!
Parking is £2 for every hour or £45 for the day. Located behind the gym. Pay for parking inside, as the machine outside is broken.
K. G.
I have visited this venue on a few occasions and never got around to writing a full revue.
I visited for a BT sport professional boxing event and then once again for my little brothers basketball tournament and on both occasions due to the layout it’s so simple to manoeuvre and to get around and even the parking seemed very simple as most venues are very hard to park to go to resulting in taking a transport service or taxi, so this is a massive bonus.
I witnessed seating on two separate occasions and both were fantastic as on both visits the viewing angles on both layouts were very good and very visible.
R. T.
Came here for the CWL London Call of Duty event.
First let's start security they was very fast and respectful. Nothing like the gangsters younger on club doors.
Second the place was nicely laid out for the number of people in the arena. Walk ways was wife enough and station sets up was easy to view and see.
Door and drink location was easy to fine and had plenty of place for it. Believe they was like 5 to 6 open kiosk plus a stand set up near grand stage. Staff all very helpful also. Would definitely visit again for another event.
L. D.
Ultra modern building; very open and spacious. It's a great venue for sport.
N. L.
Very nice place to watch basketball but currently cant go into the top of the arena
C. E.
Would be very helpful if the staff, were able to give directions to toilets and box office. We asked three different members of staff none were able to help.
W. H.
XO19 Event at the copper Box Area. Well organised event with friendly and helpful staff. venue does have a burger bar inside offering burgers, hotdogs and vegetarian menu. The venue also has a couple toilets around the area which were clean and well maintained. There's no parking at the Copper Box Area but there's plenty of parking at Westfield shopping centre which is a 5 min walk away.
J. W.
We attended the XO19 (Xbox) event, the staff were fun, helpful and the place was well laid out and accessible for the disabled too. Easy to find toilets, not much hanging around to get into the event, the security were very good and had a great sense of humour too!!
J. N.
Went here for X019 and it was awesome. Very clean and organised very well. Easy to find and plenty of space for queueing however not sheltered so bring a coat. Only reason for not being a 5 star is that the bag of pop corn and kitkats were 2 months out of date.
S. B.
Great atmosphere and I loved watching the fed cup and watching Britain win !!!
Great venue not extremely big but that's what I liked about it !!! Would definitely come back.
N. G.
Yesterday British Taekwondo held a national championship and the event was amazing. The building was clean and tidy and staff on hand to clean any mess or spillage straight away.
J. N.
Nice arena! Need more choices for food and drink but got a couple new fans of the London lions!
J. P.
Went here to watch my granddaughter in a Taekwondo competition had a good time. But the food was very very expensive. Should had made some sandwiches...
L. H.
Went to watch the boxing and it was a fantastic little arena, all seats had great views, food and drink was a little expensive but that's only to be expected.
S. F.
Had an incredible time watching New Japan Pro Wrestling! Arena was great, good staff, a great evening all round!
N. H.
Great venue for the NJPW wrestling, not enough bars or merchandise concessions however.
M. W.
Great venue for a netball game. I was at the back of block 211, but tge view of the match was fantastic!
w. w.
Great venue. Sound system was great you have drink and food options. Alcohol is on sale and the hot dogs smelt delicious but I didn't get to taste as we were going for food after the show.
J.
Due to the crowd at RLCS. The best thing ever. Loved every minute of it. Could have better cleaning at the toilets and colder beer
P. T.
Dashing sports complex. Hosting a big Brazilian jiu-jitsu event every year, this space is amazing and full of facilities, including a Better Gym.
S. H. K.
Fantastic indoor stadium, nice hospitality, disable-friendly and a good 12 min walk from Stratford international train station.
P. L. (.
Brilliant atmosphere, great place for watching sporting events!
R. G.
They did well managing the indoor hockey festival on 29th Dec
C.
Great overall venue, if you have long legs choose end seats as the seat are quite uncomfortable and cramped for long leggers. Also I think the seats need updating with some padding at least. But apart from the seating a very good time out, clear views!
B. S.
Amazing gym, love going there an pumping that iron! Great views of canal, etc & natural light too :)
E. E. S.
Netball is back, obviously the concessions weren't fully opened but the toilet facilities and area is clean. The view from 2nd level is as strong as being on the other levels. Stewards gets a little rude but that's not everyone just the odd few that think they have no need for customer service.
t.
This is a good Arena, Could do with a better merchandise shop and bigger / more food stands.
M. r.
Nice small arena went to see NJPW here. Was a nice venue tho the food stall wouldnt take card until last in the night and it felt under staffed
P. S.
Well organised staff. Clean toilets and not mad long queues for food and drink
S. F.
Had a great time watching the London lions
🏀🏀🏀🏀🦁🦁🦁
Staff at the venue are really kind, seating is unreserved so you can sit as close to the court as you want.
C. A.
You have to walk a bit to get to it but it's warm inside, they have clearly marked and clean facilities... It's a nice place overall...
D. P.
Went to see the London lions today. Was fantastic will definitely be booking again. Gooo Lions!!!
G. P.
The gym is weirdly shaped and not the biggest, but it's clean and quiet in the morning.
M. P.
Nice little sports venue where you're always close to the action. Could improve efficiency when it comes to queuing for both entry and food/drink purchases
C. H.
We had a great time watching the basketball. Arena was clean in all areas. Staff were very helpful.
T. A. (. A. P.
Awesome venue to watch London Pulse Netball
R. H.
Great place to host events such as the X019
A. B.
Celebrity Ball our was so amazing!!!! Can’t wait to attend next you!!!!!
c.
It's a nice place to have in East London and puts on some really good events some at really good affordable prices. However you cant take any food or drink inside and the options inside the arena are shocking basically hot dog and nachos or crisps no fries and not many drink options no variety so eat well before you go. It's also a long walk from any underground station and you cant park there when events are on so a bit inconvenient. It's a good venue but they need to do better to accommodate the guests.
B. T.
I saw my very first boxing match there and loved it as much as I loved the place. Visibility was good from every side; plenty of places to get water, beer or something quick to eat. The place feels authentic and the people I talked to, workers and members of the audience, were lovely. It can get a little rowdy ar times due to the high consumption of alcohol, but generally speaking it all ends up with hugs and laughter.
T. T.
Fantastic arena. Really nice seating arrangement. Not too small that it feels cramp but not so big that you loose that intamacy
T. J.
Excellent venue good for loading as loading bay is down shirt corridor on same level. Venue staff very accommodating and great space.
A. C. C.
I use the fitness classes ant the gym here, and it's good.
N. F.
Went for boxing event which was very good however organisation at front desk and seating could have some work
C. H.
We had a great time watching the basketball. I was very impressed by how clean it was in all areas. The staff were very helpful
S. V.
Very clean and tidy. 👍👍👍👍👍
Friendly and helpful staff.
E. B.
Nice venue. Great game. The Lions need a lot of luck to win the league.
P. F.
Nice place! I really enjoyed the event.
M. A.
amazing venue....
watching the debut fight of Khalid Ali. potential world champion!
M. O.
Again lovely place and it's just alongside the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park. Now be prepared to walk. Wear comfortable shoes/trainers etc. I did 23,246 steps when my daily goal is 12,000!!! So if you are looking to burn some calories, then this is a good place to do so.
I love the fact that the shopping centre is just across from the park as well. Also a bus just outside the shopping centre takes you 2 stops by the Copper box arena if you aren't able to do that long walk. You can also rest on one of the benches in the park as well.
J. T.
Best arena I have been too. Had a fantastic time and will revisit.
N. G.
Greta court, plenty and clean facilities, easy access
M. Q. (.
My local gym. Great venue. I love that they are open till 10pm, as it is way too crowded in rush hours. They should double up on some of the more popular machines and get rid of the running machines in the middle bit, is my suggestion.
To hire 1/2 court in third of the main hall is quite expensive (£60) and only worth using with quite a few people. Many times when I go there there is nothing happening in the main halls apart from badminton in the last third. I would love to be able to use the basketball court with just a couple of friends.
I. T.
Excellent hidden gem of a gym. They could do a better job of keeping the equipment clean and the bathrooms cleaner, but never really busy and plenty of equipment to use. The arena itself is very cool too and you can hire it out for groups. Long live the Olympic Village!
C. S.
Great venue, good experience seeing the London Lions, only issue is it doesn't have the best signage.
A. M.
Went to see the London Lions which are a great UK basketball team!
Only reason I'm giving a 4 stars is because if this stadium was fully booked the atmosphere would be amazing, I'd like to see that!
j. e.
Just been to basketball there with kids and basketball was great we really enjoyed it. Spoilt by the venue facilities though - such a long queue for toilets waited 15 minutes. There’s loads of other toilets upstairs and security said we couldn’t use them. Poor selection of food - only 2 places open - hotdogs and sweets only. I’d go again but really management should open up more toilets and improve for food.
M. N.
Easy enough to get yo via public transport or car. Very spacious venue. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Excellent place to watch your favourite London basketball team #letsgolions
L. B.
The design of the copper box arena exterior is pretty lacklustre in my opinion. I guess you would expect that from a building with ‘box’ in its name. The interior is pretty good, and does what is needed. There are a few toilets dotted around, and food places. The hall is pretty big for expos and such.
S. N.
I have to say how disappointed we were with our experience, as visitors to The Copperbox, to watch the Netball finals on Sun 26th Jan.
We were seated in Seats 98 and 99 Row 17 Block 202 and whilst we had a good view of the game itself, we had no visibility of the scoreboard, or the running video projection (obscured by lighting gantry). Also, with the PA speakers being placed below our seating level and projecting downwards, the audio announcements and commentary were indecipherable.
Unfortunately these factors really spoiled our enjoyment of the visit.
Otherwise a great venue!
K. L.
Good view from most seats. Seating is hard plastic but has plenty of room in all directions. Not so keen on rule you can't take food or drink in (although theoretically you're allowed an empty bottle). Little choice of food or drink, and soft drink/water bottles handed over with cap removed.
P. B.
Nice tidy area sell secure and sign posted.
L. H.
Great venue for basketball! Local teams and national all play here so keep an eye out for tickets. Food options aren't plentiful, about what you'd expect for a small scale sporting venue. Not much gluten free other than popcorn and crisps.
S. N.
I am a member there, I like their yoga classes, their staff is very friendly and helpful. Showers are a bit below average as doors do not close, and they have only 2. Training space is nice, has nice big windows with relaxing views while exercising.
B. P.
Large hall for meetings. Entrance and exit arrangements good. Sound system not bad. Views of stage very good. Toilet facilities clean and plentiful. Located a short bus ride from Stratford bus number 388 or short walk from Hackney Wick rail station.
n. p.
Great venue for indooor sports. Not too large and all seats look like they have a good view. Food was ok and not too expensive. A bit of a walk from Stratford Station but worth while going
I. S.
This is certainly one of my favourite sports venues in London!
Great view form pretty much any seat. I came here to watch a few volleyball matches, and loved every moment of my experience in here.
There are a few food/drink spots on site, but the choices are very limited.
J. J.
Good arena, easy to get too
T. H.
Watched Womens Netball England vs Uganda here. First time visit to the Copperbox and was very pleasantly surprised. The venue is smaller than I had imagined - which is good. Viewing from all seats appeared to be good. The facilities were functional, clean and plentiful. Access in and out the stadium was fast although we did have to queue to get in at the start. The venue would benefit from a covered waiting area.
O. M.
Good event space a little out of the way and not as close to Stratford Station as you might think
Y. W.
Customer service really needs work. Train Ahbdi please.
A.
Fantastic Venue! Went here to watch a tournament with friends. Easy to get around and facilities can easily be located. My only issue was that we were not allowed to take food/drink into the venue so had to pay stupid prices for Copperbox food/drink.
M. G.
I really liked the venue. Easy access to bars, food stalls and bathroom. This was for the boxing 27th September 18
Rather disturbed that security let someone in after taking a knuckle duster off them at the door. Even telling the guy he was "lucky “ to be allowed in.
Shocking really
G. C.
Came here for RLCS 5 (a video game e-sports tournament). What a great venue, spacious modern with lots of seating and amenities. Expensive food and drink but that's to be expected as I understand this is usually for basketball and other such arena sports. Highly recommended.
S. O.
Very nice building premises, as it was designed for 2012 summer Olympic. The area is quite peaceful and green and clean. Still not very populated, so plenty of free space. Good for evening walk. Loads of shopping places. They have big sorts centre for Badminton, gym, etc.
P. O. A.
It's a good place for sporting events and more
Z.
Spacious and amazing venue with plenty of space as expected food and drink is expensive like all sports/entertainment venues. It's a great location for small cons of all kinds and not just a venue for gaming and sports.
J. Y.
They do have a lots of frequently unused equipment and then only 1 each of the weights machines that people want to use. Space is currently at a premium and they have not figured out how to best serve customers with that. But, very friendly and personal desk staff. Even the cleaners say hello and remember you... it's actually a pleasant place to be because of the staff.
D. R.
GB vs Kazakhstan Fed Cup Tennis. Had great seats in front row an really enjoyed watching Tennis here. It's a different experience as it's indoors and not open roof.
Drinks were well overpriced. £5-5.50 for a Kopperberg or Magners that wasn't even from a bottle or full pint. It was from a small can which is ridiculous. Apart from that overall experience was good, staff were helpful.
C. S.
Cant't fault it. A great piece of the Olympic 'legacy'. Loads of seating, plenty of concessions stands, Appears to be a very adaptable building, with the seating that can be converted back to court space.
We went to watch a basketball match, so they only occupied the seating by the court - could have fitted probably six or eight times the number of people, for a bigger event.
J. A.
Good place for competitions and more
J. A.
A fantastic location for any kind of event
S. E.
Great atmosphere, went to see the lions vs the riders.
Very entertaining game, good outing for the entire family.
Parking available at nearby Westfields, accessible buses.
J. C.
Love the Better Gym facilities and the PTs working there! Great classes as well! The view is stunning and makes working out more enjoyable. Absolutely recommend!
S. C.
It was a fantastic evening. I took a group of junior section boys from the boys brigade and they enjoyed themselves.
The only problems I experienced was the treatment we received from one of the security officers and the fact that there were not enough ladies toilets as queues were ridiculously long.
P. S.
Another Olympic legacy facility. This one is used by the local community and is an excellent venue for the National Netball Team. Many events take place here regularly. Well done.
S. J.
Went for the All-Stars Basketball last Sunday and what a wonderful and well run venue to watch sports in. The RUN sculpture out the front really makes the venue have drama as you approach it too.
A. C.
Good facilities for sports, and great legacy that it's own to all. But SHAME ON YOU for the desperate catering options. Microwave burgers/hot dogs. No healthy options to be found. And don't get me started on the "no bottle tops" rule which lead to lots of spillages. What nonsense.
T. A.
Very spacious arena with amazing acoustics and good views of each seat. A true sporting arena which could also be held for different events. A very good facility, wheelchair accessible also. Round the corner from Stratford Westfield and opposite Holiday Inn
K. P.
Great venue! Accessibility for those with mobility issues accommodating with sufficient space, leg room and accessible toilets big enough to manoeuvre frames or a wheelchair. Would go again!
D. H.
Great venue, a little far from Stratford station but easy enough to get to. Good access, well worth a visit/attending show here
R. P.
We went here for badminton. The facilities are really good apart from the fact that there’s no water fountain around. The staffers were very friendly and helpful.
J. P.
Great place for Christian Events! #Coference
L. H.
I watched the Futal youth tournament here in 2015, it was quite an empty feel to the arena if I'm honest. But the facilities looked decent. And a big screen at either end.
M. S.
We went here to watch table tennis world team final played between Japan and China. Very cosey place and walkable from Stratford station. Alert vegetarians, there are few options for eating but I will love to go there again
S. W.
Always great to watch a live event here. Close enough to almost feel part of the action
R. S.
Good place to watch Netball but the experience was let down but them not allowing us to bring our own food in. Nothing was said beforehand and I nearly had to throw everything away although a friend was able to store it in their car. There was nowhere to store the food and retrieve it on our way out either. Very disappointed.
R. W.
Hi guys, I'm working on site as an Engineer at the park, It has been mentioned of re-opening the venue on the 6th of July.
PLEASE check on the GLL website regarding access and restrictions ect.
See you there!!.
B.
Was here today Uaejjf Grand Slam fantastic venue fantastic event
M.
Went to see the international netball, now I am a fan
R. W.
Just added this panaramic photo sent back to me from Google maps.
I took this when the place was empty- which is rare.
The venue has multiple uses and a broadcasting company record here covering sport's and special events.
Great place go and enjoy.
Regards from an on site Engineer.

Copper Box, home of the London Lions. It is the box that rocks. If you are a Lions fan, Basketball fan or just a sports fan you must watch a game of BBL Basketball at the Box that Rocks.
Copper box after the Olympic Games in 2012 was adapted into a multi-sport arena for community use, athlete training and major events. Offering a Gym and much more.
M. A.
Top notch gym with fantastic classes and great outdoor boot camp. Btw to the fella moaning about the parking ticket, copper box arena DON'T offer parking so that's why you got a ticket. Maybe you should read the rules before you enter and to the fella moaning about your friends paying £2 each. Your friends pay that because they are NOT members. You think you can bring 50 odd friends and the venue won't charge you lol. Ridiculous
u. s.
Amazing location! Definitely recommend coming to watch or use their facilities 🏀
A. G.
Great arena but catering could be better.
K.
Nice arena for the ball of basket
M. H.
Great equipment, helpful staff and reasonable membership fees. I love using the Copper Box gym facilities and have already recommend to lots of friends and relatives.
S. B.
Nice big venue space surrounded by park, location is a bit harder to reach (at least 7 mins walk from closest overground Hackney Wick station, underground Stratford is even further)
J. I.
Amazing Atmosphere Rocket League World Championships #RLCS #PigeonMan
L. S.
Drinks are reasonable but they take away your bottle caps. To park for this venue, use westfield.
D.
Watched a gaming event here. Food and drink are very expensive. Facilities are good. Speaker systems bass is artificially boosted at the lower end and sounds silly.
A. M.
2 great gaming events held here. There was 1 steward that took his job way too seriously, probably beyond his actual job description. He was Moody and grumpy, tall baled bloke soppy look on his face while at RLCS. Even told the professionals playing what they can and can't do. They are only taking pictures
A. M.
A perfect arena for the Rocket League Championship Series!
S. F.
London lions, very good experience.
D. A.
A huge place with lots of room, this was a great place for an event. As you enter you get a bird's eye view of the seating areas with open space just next to it for demos.
Z. P.
Lovely facilities, clean floor, very spacious
B. I.
Decent venue, has a lot of potential but on the particular night we were there for a netball game they only had one toilet open which made for seemingly endless queues.

The Copper Box has 7,000 seats. It was used for handball preliminaries and modern pentathlon fencing during the Olympic Games, and for goalball during the Paralympic Games. The handball men's quarter-finals, all semi-finals and both finals were held at the larger Basketball Arena.
The Copper Box was praised for its loud, exciting atmosphere during handball games. For the Paralympics goalball events the crowd in the Box must be quiet.
The Copper Box Arena is a multi-sport venue used for the 2012 Summer Olympics, located in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Hackney Wick, London, England. Previously known as the Handball Arena, it was renamed because, aside from handball, it hosted modern pentathlon (fencing, shooting, swimming, horse jumping and running) during the Olympics and was the goalball venue for the 2012 Summer Paralympics
L. F.
It's a nice venue to watch sport in. Playing it is less pleasant, particularly in summer, way too hot
E. B.
Nice esports events (Rocket League) with an awesome crowd !
R. B.
Had a fab day with under 10's playing indoor hockey
P. A.
Not impressed. Cafe closed during business hours. Endless empty depressing corridors. Super lifeless. Booked a class and arrived at the correct Studio on time-and nothing.
L. C.
Great arena has many different events going on all the time went here to check out a game show match with the partner wasn't very hard to get to all things considered it being London, had decent enough parking and was staffed nicley good maintained building which is always good to see for the cost of most events was hoping for a little more wow factor around the place but over all good community building
R. B.
Trained for handball there for a while. It's a modern, clean space with amazing facilities. Changing room, with clean showers and hairdriers. Great place
S. L.
Really nice gym, friendly staff and never usually too busy. my only complaint is that broken equipment can sometimes take a long time to be fixed.
T. G.
Brilliant gym with always helpful and friendly staff - it's also a social enterprise so you are investing in your community when you work out here.
I. M.
Great place to watch tennis, reasonably priced tickets, plenty of toilets and refreshment stalls. The food and drink were very expensive and the beer was terrible.
B. R.
Great medium sized venue with good views of pitch. Will look for other events there.
P. T.
Came here for RLCS5 and it was the perfect venue for an event like that, the food and drinks were acceptable and the place was very clean and well maintained.
D. M.
Nice place had fun watching the basketball
s. m.
[review of the Better Gym located in the Copper Box] Very nice, new gym in the Olympic Park, recently opened and still offering good "no joining fees" deals to residents and non rsidents. Unilke most gyms, it is flooded by light, spacious and has lots of cardio equipment. Also,it has very competitive rates.
On the minus side - some of the weights machines seem to be constantly busy. Few classes available, and the level of teaching is not great.
Overall a great choice if you're local and do cardio/weights rather than classes.
N.
Great arena went to rlcs there
K. E.
Staff are fantastic and very helpful and there's a good atmosphere at the gym and the people are very nice and accommodating:)
G. R.
