Reviews of Globe Rowing Club

Great friendly rowing club especially for Juniors.....brilliant club house at Greenwich which can be hired out....balcony overlooking Thames.... Adult section also growing with a brilliant coach... Rowing is a great sport to participate in and Globe is a perfect mix of a leisure activity or a performance sport depending on your desires

I was nervous about getting back into rowing after almost 20 years off! But the supportive members and great coaching meant I was back on form in no time. There is nothing quite like rowing on the Thames in the early morning...except perhaps the group brunches after! Lovely social welcoming people. And I get fit while having fun. Perfect!

I joined the club last autumn. I was a bit anxious because I couldn't have done the Learn to row course but the team has been really friendly! It is a real pleasure to train with the squad, captain and coaches are good and make you progress. The equipment is great too. Would definitely recommend the club!!

Great venue for a small function of up to 50 people. Upstairs, there are two adjoining rooms with a bar and a balcony overlooking the Thames. The building itself is Victorian, but it has been refurbished with modern amenities. Disable access would be very difficult as there are steps up from the street through a narrow entrance door.

I joined Globe after doing Learn to Row with them in September. There is a great community vibe and we get a lot of high quality feedback from coaches and senior squad members who give up their time freely to help us improve! It's a great club!

After having a 7+ year break from rowing (and only having ever done sculling), I decided to start over and do the Learn 2 row course at Globe. - using a mixture of ergs, tank sessions (which was another new experience for me!) and going out in coxed fours with fellow L2R students and experienced rowers I learnt how to sweep row and also got to give sculling another go!
3 years later, I'm loving sweep rowing and competing in both head and regatta races. We row predominantly from Greenwich, where seeing the London sites (and the occassional seal) from the Thames is such a unique perspective that never gets old. - especially on those sunny mornings.
The community of rowers, coaches and coxes are amazing. They are really supportive, and most importantly inclusive - no matter what your background or experience in rowing is, everyone is there to help you along and encourage you to meet you rowing ambitions, whether it's to have a recreational paddle on a Saturday morning or to train to compete at a variety of levels.

I'm so happy I discovered Globe 6 months ago! It's such a friendly rowing club, a great environment to row. Rowing in Greenwich, and the occasional trip up to Tower Bridge, is beautiful!

After a sabbatical from rowing I never imagined I would find such an amazing group of women to row with. The diversity, gumption, grit, kindness and camaraderie of these amazing ladies is incredible!!
