Reviews of London South Bank University Sports Centre

The memberships are a real bargain while the university is undertaking renovations in the main gym. Have a look at them before you sign up, make sure the limited facilities are enough for your needs, but if they are it's great value and open to everyone. They offer classes or gym access, or both.

Friendly, welcoming staff. The cardio suite (treadmills, bikes, cross-trainers, rowing...) and resistance machines (weights) are modern and in a bright, well-kept space. It rarely feels "busy" so great if you are serious about doing your workout (or feel cautious because you're new to working out!) A good range of exercise classes, as well as running training courses, personal training, and holiday camps for kids. The FTZ suite has some great equipment for switching-up workouts. Free-weights area is smaller and has a bit of an old school vibe that will appeal to some and not others. Changing facilities are basic but well-maintained. The centre is located on 2.5 floors. Lifts, adapted showers and toilets, and a family changing space are available for people with limited mobility. Music volume isn't overwhelming and there are two off-peak mornings where music is turned off for visitors who thrive better in quiet.

Facilities are now a bit tired and old so it can be challenging to use e.g. lighting is not of the best standard and changing rooms are quite stark. Service could be better. It is often slow, not very switched on and can be a challenge to get the staff to understand fairly simple things. There isn't really a customer mindset.

Amazing staff. Sports hall has a variety of activities. Gym has extensive machines and free weights. New cross fit room is well equipped and there are a plethora of classes available

Great, responsive staff. On my first day the rowers were not giving any resistance. Reported and the next day the manager had tools out on it. Fixed - well pleased. Been going almost every lunchtime since!

Good sports centre that's not very busy. we normally play badminton here but have seen people play basketball and dodgeball here as well.
The only way to book is however by phone so you will need to give your bank details everytime which is a little annoying, hope they will have online booking soon.

Nice sports hall. Very blue and a little warm. Ceiling is lower than I'm used to for badminton.

Having trained under some of the best muya thai fighters in Thailand. Kes is the best ! A beginner and even the best fighter will suddenly realize what is like a text book muya thai, highly recommended ever! Just amazing instructor!

A nice place for learning and other educative activities.
Lots of foreign and British students.
