Finished a few PADI diving specialty courses with Oyster last weekend: Solo/ Self-Reliant diver, Full Face Mask, and DPV (underwater scooter). Cannot fault the experience in any way. Mark Murphy, Oyster's director, took care of all the admin aspects of the courses and the dives smooth and seamlessly. Jamie Smith, the instructor, was clearly knowledgeable and experienced, but also approachable and interested in giving his students the best possible experience. Really recommend both Oyster and Jamie to any diver interested in getting her/ his diving to the next level!

What a delight my Advanced Open Water Course this last weekend was! Tom was my instructor and rather than just have me repeat exercises, he was really focused at improving my diving at the right pace. I could definitely feel the progress dive after dive. Additionally, the facilities they use are brilliant for training. Mercers Lake is a great confined space to train and get instructions and experiment. The NDAC on the other hand is a huge and very interesting experience to put all you've learned into practice and still have plenty to see from wrecks to aquatic life. Lastly, the whole team, especially Tom, Tracy and Liz were really accommodating and helpful with my individual situation (such as difficult travel to NDAC), I really appreciate that. I'll be coming for more specialties and fun dives in the new future with Oyster for sure! Thank you again!

Fantastic experience! Having had a poor experience recently with another dive school in the London area, I was extremely nervous to take a dry suit certification. However, the whole team at Oyster Diving were absolutely fabulous. Not only did they cater for 1-2-1 instruction with plenty of patience (!) , their course was enjoyable, fun and run to a very high professional standard. Their equipment was excellent and I enjoyed the whole experience, which has encouraged me to take a fun dive very shortly with them.

I love the water, and am in the sea as much work allows me to. I wanted to explore other activities and after some research, found Oyster Diving School to be the most diverse as they have a vast portfolio of courses and meet-ups. My instructors were Cat, Kate and Raf. They were extremely patient, helpful, informative and made my experience fun, building my confidence with each dive. Just completed my Open Water course with Oyster Diving. Why Oyster? Well good selection of locations for confined dives the open water dive site was reasonably close, great selection of courses and of course good reviews. Confined dives where completed at the Caterham location with Kat and Tracey - great facilities and the instruction was clear. Open water dives at Mercers lake a few weeks later with Neil, once again good location - changing area , equipment prep area - even a tea from the cafe on site!! Big thanks to the whole Team - Cat, Tracey, Neil, Laura and Liz(who kept us in check) with a supporting appearance from Jamie!! Great company, good people and I will be booking again to continue learning!

The team at Oyster Diving School were absolutely fantastic and the whole experience was amazing (we did the Open Water Padi). The pool sessions in Soho with Kate and then Laura and the Lake sessions with Tom and James. Each and every one of the team were excellent, professional, fun and just all round good people. We both felt extremely comfortable being guided through the skills and processes by everyone and the lake experience was about as good as you could get in a dirty lake in London! I would highly recommend these guys if you are considering diving. We went to Cyprus a couple of weeks later and felt extremely comfortable knowing we had been equipped with the required skills and experience from Oyster Diving. 10/10 in quality and people. I loved this diving school. Laura is the best instructor! I wanted to do an open water referral before a trip to Mexico and from first ringing their very helpful office to actually doing the course, it was all very smooth. They say it can take 2 weeks in the pool on the website but it will take 3, not because they’re slow but because the instructors really care that you’re comfortable with all the skills. We spent our last hour in the pool going over skills we had ‘passed’ but wanted to be more confident in. If you want to learn to dive in a relaxed and confident way I would definitely suggest this school

I’ve just recently qualified and couldn’t recommend Oyster more. I had Grace for Part A in the pool who was so friendly and approachable making me feel super comfortable to ask all my questions. I then had Alex and Cat for Part B who was super calm and focused which was super helpful when moving from the pool to the lake which I found super daunting at first. The rest of the team were super friendly and communication from the central team was great - quick responses, lots of reminders and clear instructions. Fantastic experience!

My girlfriend and I had a great experience getting our PADI open water certification with Oyster. Our instructor, Ian, was great - very attentive and helpful, as well as patient! It was great that Oyster arranged for us to have the same instructor for the pool dives and the open water dives down at Mercers lake. Overall would 100% recommend anyone looking to get their PADI certification to go with Oyster - everyone there was amazing and very professional - happy to help and give advice and tips. Just don’t expect the lake to be the warmest, but it didn’t spoil the experience, and we’re hoping to join Oyster on some of their diving holidays at some point soon!

This weekend I completed the Side Mount Course with Oyster Diving. As always their instructors Tom & Ryan were excellent, as was their surface support Liz. It was a great course detailing the importance of set-up / customisation of two tanks, applying the usage of those tanks when diving & navigating through narrow situations etc, but always enforcing the safety aspect when diving a different configuration. I’m hooked already on Side Mount - definitely worth a try people! Cheers guys :-)

I completed my part A of the Open Water course with Oyster at the Marshall Street swimming pool. Oyster was always so diligent and helpful at all contact points, from giving me all information I needed before signing up, down to check in at the Pool with Tracey who helped me with all paper work, questions and lessons scheduling and re-scheduling. I was lucky to have Laura as my instructor - Laura’s friendliness, communication skills and general teaching experience were second to none. Laura helped me and the group with all skills and made us all feel very conformable as we progressed with the course. Repeating exercises and answering all and any questions was never a problem and Laura kept drawing back to her own experiences to explain us how and why a given pool exercise was important for when diving in a real life, open water dive. I could not recommend Oyster Diving and Laura enough if you’re looking into completing this awesome course - thank you!

Then I met up with the lovely group that run Oyster diving near Brighton....This group of fantastic professionals heard my story and through there incredible skills and patience were able to get me back under water for the first time in over two decades...What a life changer. I first found Oyster Diving during my research online. I booked on for the Dive Master Package since I found it very good value and beating other diving companies in my area. The journey down from Leeds is well worth the effort. I have completed the Open Water, Advanced Open Water and recently the Rescue Course. I wasn't too sure what to expect and where this course would take me but I am so glad and so thankful for the opportunity to discover Diving. This is an experience that will, without a doubt, take you out of your comfort zone, and the team at Oyster is incredibly skilled at easing you into it, from the pool training (part A) to the actual open water session (part B). Tutors were really knowledgeable and made us feel at ease (shout out to George, Mel and Pete) despite various difficulties in the pool and freezing conditions at the lake! The only reason I can’t give 5* is that we paid a lot of money for this course up front, but were then hit with extra costs on both days of the 2 day lake dive for air and ‘entry’. Considering how much we paid at the beginning, seems a bit ridiculous to then have to pay an extra £45 - surely this should be included in the total cost!!

Received the Open Water (Part A) course as a gift pre-covid. The Oyster team we're happy to extend the validity of the voucher until a suitably safe time. Tracey (our course instructor) was excellent. She explained everything clearly, has a great sense of humour and did a really good job of giving the right level of support/autonomy to the varying confidence/skill/experience levels of people in the group. The Oyster team did well to navigate the logistics challenges of being covid-safe. Would happily do further courses/certifications with Tracey as instructor. 👌

I recently carried out a Fun Dive at Mercer's Lake to return to diving after lockdown. This was a fantastic experience. The lake was very easy to access from London and the team was very organised and welcoming. It was a perfect opportunity to dust off cobwebs and meet the team at Oyster. I followed up with the Open Water Advanced course at Mercer's Lake and St Andrew's Lake. This course was equally well organised, with lots of friendly faces around to help through the dives. The team at Oyster gave me complete confidence to progress as a diver and made a fun weekend of it.

Over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of May 18 intrepid Bede's Scuba Divers visited Mercer's Lake, near Redhill, to complete their PADI Scuba Diving Courses. The course, ran by Oyster Diving from Brighton, has been going since the start of the year, with many of the theory sessions being held online during the January/Feb lockdown. Upon our return to school we have been using the school pool to complete the pool-based dives and assessments, with Mark, Tracey and Tom moving tonnes of kit in and out of the pool area every week. And now, despite the very cold water and the poor weather, 16 of the students managed to complete a range of skill dives and a fun dive to ensure they completed their courses with the help of all of the Oyster guys such as Melvin, Paul, Jamie, Pete, Kat, Rob, and Beth, not forgetting to mention Tom and Tracey, and Mark of course. 2 students were unfortunately suffering from head colds, and even though they tried, they were feeling v poorly and will return after half term and our thanks go to Oyster for being so supportive. Our thanks go to Oyster diving for all their work over the last few months, to provide our students with this amazing opportunity to learn to dive, a skill that they will hopefully enjoy and take part in all over the world for years to come, during the difficulties we had working remotely, this has been an amazing feat.

The pool session with Tracey was relaxed and fun. The team (Tracey, John and Trey) were fantastic with the open water dives. My daughter and I completed our PADI Open Water referral with Oyster Diving last year and qualified on holiday. This year we we both completed reactivation with them. On both occasions the process was straightforward and the instructors were excellent, they explained things well, were patient and took their time with us. The equipment was also very good. Getting my open water certification from Oyster Diving was an amazing experience! I highly recommend them! They were always very quick to get back to me when I had any questions and everything went smoothly. I had Tom and Ian as instructors for my pool dives and both were great. Very patient and helpful to get through the skills. I also had Trey for the open water dives at Wraysbury. While it's not ideal diving in a murky, cold lake, Trey made the whole weekend fun while making sure we learned all of the necessary skills. He makes you feel safe and comfortable while you're doing your skills. Seriously...Trey is the best!! I've definitely made some great friends and am considering joining the diving club now that I'm certified...many more fun times to come!

We did our Open Water PADI certificate with Oyster diving and i cannot recommend them enough. Their professionalism and quality of service is amazing. The instructors are super friendly and nice, teaching you and also having a great time with you at the same time. They really care about the skills you acquire, as in our last OpenWater dive we faced some problems in some of the skills, and instead of pushing us through, they put us at easy and recommended we do one more pool session to improve those skills and then we do the last dive again. I could not recommend this guys enough! They have been incredible!! I had always wanted to learn how to dive and after a bad experience in Egypt with an Egyptian diving school I was really put off, about a year later I wanted to try again as it was something I had really wanted to learn. We did our confined dives at a brilliant location in Caterham, Surrey. Our Instructor, Tracey was so supportive, patient and helpful, as I was anxious about the mask skills, but she got me through it, no problem. The open water dives were in Wraysbury, which doesn't have the best visibility, but it's the UK, and not down to Oyster. We did Wraysbury on Monday/Tuesday, and had the place to ourselves - I gather the weekends are quite busy! Instructor Phil was also brilliant. He's hugely experienced, and his calm demeanour really helped put me at ease. We were both delighted to pass our Open Water Diver qualification, along with the rest of the friendly group, and are really looking forward to being able to dive abroad when we're on holidays. Phil said that Oyster's Dive Club allows you to arrange to turn up at any of their pool sessions once per month - amongst other benefits, like discounts on kit, courses, etc. If you want to brush up on any skills before you go away, this sounds like a great idea! We'd highly recommend Oyster 👍

I’ve had the most fun developing my basic scuba skills with Oyster and highly recommend anyone to dive with their team of amazing instructors. The main instructor I did my confined and open dives with was Tom. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor as Tom is patient, enthusiastic, engaging and highly supportive which made my learning experience fun. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations about his worldly adventures. Thank you also to Tracey and Liz who were very supportive throughout a cold winter weekend in Wraysbury. You kept everyone positive and smiling! Oyster offer a flexible approach to learning how to scuba dive. The online PADI learning and tests take about 8-10 hours to complete and pass. The learning is user friendly and a combination of both text and videos. I did my confined dives in a heated pool in Soho and open water dives at Wraysbury Dive Centre. As I did my dives in late November/early December, the open water dives were in cold water and we used dry suits for the dives. The instructors adapted to the conditions over the open water dives weekend to ensure we weren’t in the water for longer than required and made sure we were into the warmth of the cabin asap after each dive. Thank you to all at Oyster. You have massively increased my passion to dive… but in warmer climates than Wraysbury!

It had been 12 years since my open water, and since my last dive, even after my reactivate theory refresher my diving was just a little bit all over the place. So I decided to take my PPB (with Ian) and then my Advanced PADI (with Tracey) and my diving was more than another level. I have since taken my deep, wreck, and been on an awesome trip to the Farne Islands swimming with Seals. Having done my PADI Open Water Certification on holiday over Christmas, I approached Oyster Diving to continue my training - with an eye to becoming a better, more confident diver during the rubbish seasons before my next trip away. I did my Advanced Open Water course with them in Chepstow, in February(!) and quickly realised that the training I was receiving from Oyster was a much more structured, thorough and serious than my experiences abroad. Not one to do things by halves myself, I've spent the winter and spring months doing specialty courses in digital photography, buoyancy control, enriched air diving, underwater navigation, dry suit use and deep diving to 40m. Throughout that time, I've been under the wing of six different Oyster Diving instructors and found them all to be professional, thorough, positive and encouraging. I'm still very much a rookie (that's something that can only be remedied by lots of diving), but I'm also very aware of the progress I've been making through the courses I've done. In June, I joined an Oyster trip to Newquay. There's some great wreck diving out there and a small seal colony that may or may not come out to play - we found ourselves diving with a single grey seal who did her very best to show us how aloof and disinterested she was. The trip was a great social experience, too. Oyster's customers cover a large area and I don't think any of us had really crossed paths before, but we got along famously. I'm signed up for two more UK trips and about to book my first diving holiday on a liveaboard yacht through them. I did mention that I don't do things by halves. I'm delighted with the support and training I've got from Oyster this year. Very highly recommended!

The divemasters are really eager and happy to help with every question or issue the students might have. Excellent service from clear and timely email correspondence with Tracey leading up to the course, through to the professional and fun instruction. Everyone from Surface Support, the DM’s, DMT’s and of course the Instructors were all extremely professional, couldn’t do enough to help and did it with a smile on their face. Special recognition must go to the course instructors Melvin and Tom, both of whom were extremely professional and kept it fun. The rescue course is highly involved, with lots of things happening at once, so takes multiple sets of eyes. This was made even more challenging for the instructors and DM’s by the near zero vis. This wasn’t a problem as the Oyster team had plenty of qualified staff to ensure that the course moved along quickly, with minimal “bobbing around”. So for this, a big thanks must also go to all involved, I think at some point over the weekend I worked with every Oyster DM/T – Kate, Brandon, Juan, Trey, Matt, Kim and the surface duties were flawlessly controlled by Liz. The whole experience was challenging, thoroughly enjoyable and served to encourage me to dive with Oyster more often.

The instructor Phil M. was very kind and great. I was a bit nervous to begin with - I guess it was the first dive after giving birth. But Phil made sure I (and everyone) was doing ok at anytime and made me feel confident in the water again. He was friendly but seriously good teacher, too. English is my second language, and it took some time for me to understand some parts - I did not do very well the Enriched Air exam at first. He was very patient with me and tought me until I fully understood. He kindly looked after my baby while I took the exam, too!! What a superb service! I would like to say thanks to Tracey, too, who took care of us on land on the diving day. All the staffs I dealt at the Oyster Diving seemed very nice. They are 'human' and reasonable. They look after students very very well. Thank you so much! Now I have certifications for Dry Suit and Enriched Air Diving. Yay! If I do any more courses, I would defo come back to them!

I went for a reactivate/refresher day at their Hove pool and was greeted by the instructor who straight away got me to kit up. It was well organised and thorough as he was keeping an eye on my skills as part of the refresh. It had been over ten years since I had been diving and the theory check showed this. We went through the answers then into the pool. Clear skills checks were done and plenty of time to practise if not quite right as well as requests to check wider variety of skills. My boyfriend and I have spent the bank holiday weekend at Wraysbury doing the open water dives following our confined water dives the week before. While I used to be a confident swimmer, I have recently developed a fear of deep water which can cause me to panic quite badly, so I wasn't sure how I was going to get on. I completed the course with absolutely no issue: in fact I felt confident pretty much the whole time, even when I got completely separated from my buddy in poor visibility, something which would have made me refuse to go in the lake if you'd told me beforehand it was going to happen! This confidence really is testament to the amazing instructors making us both feel completely at ease. We did our pool session with Tom who was excellent, taking his time telling us exactly how the day would progress and making sure we knew how to do each skill before descending to carry them out. He was encouraging and friendly, and this helped hugely in easing my initial nerves. Next were our open water dives with Tracey. Unfortunately the visibility at Wraysbury was awful: due to a recent algae bloom and the volume of divers kicking up silt, we could only see around 2 metres ahead of us in the gloom. This made it incredibly disconcerting and disorientating to descend on our first dive! Tracey was brilliant at making sure all of us were ok, looking after everyone while also getting us to do the skills we needed to do on that dive. Cannot emphasise enough how grateful we were to have her as our instructor: she's friendly, full of enthusiasm and even picked up our snorkels for us at the end of the first day (which we stupidly left in the car park) and stashed them in the van! The whole team was brilliant (Trey and Charlie for supporting us on our last dive, and a special thanks to Liz for instantly remembering everyone's names, waiting for us on dry land in the heat all weekend and checking we all had enough air to actually dive!). This is clearly a team of people who share a total love for scuba diving, and want as many people to catch the bug for it as possible!
