Reviews of Tameside Wellness Centre - Denton
H. C.
My Son has his swimming lessons here, the instructor Grace is so nice, patient and understanding. Lots of other stuff on offer like kids play area, bowling, spa, cafe, seating area and rooftop area. Good prices and refund for parking that cost £1
A. M.
A very modern site with lots of facilities.
There is a paying carpark on site.
A good sized pool with spectator seating.
Now with a roof top open air gym and garden.
Worth a visit.
If you are an active member at other sites, you will have to pay to use the pool and gym facilities.
D. B.
Good leisure centre. Lots of activities - swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, outdoor gym, sensory garden. I use gym and sauna. Gym has standard equipment, but missing functional equipment like sled, ropes, sandbags etc.
Spa suit is great which includes sauna and steam room. Also an option of cold shower.
M. W.
Really clean, good sized warm pools. Small pool is a little deeper than anticipated but still great.
Nice size waiting area with books for everyone.
Highly recommend giving it a go.
a. k.
Great place ...you can just go in for a coffee and a read. Car parking is free just hand in your ticket to get a refund. Watch the bowling. Go on the roof and have a rest in the garden.
R. L.
Nice to go somewhere that doesn't rip you off. Went bowling paid for 2 hours £40 managed to get four games in. It would of cost £110 at Hollywood bowls.
N. B.
Very modern looking inside and out, very clean establishment, staff are very welcoming and dont hesitate to go out of their way for you swimming baths was lovely clean warm and had everything me and my little one needed.......
M. A.
Went in with a guest pass but impossible to get through most of the doors due to it being a fingerprint scanner, no staff around either but clean facilities, gym was quiet but can imagine it to be difficult to use equipment when busier spa facilities were nice and relaxing, huge pool but was so busy you won't be able to do a lap
B. S.
The music in the spa area was way to loud and not at all conducive to relaxation. Rap/rock/pop, etc. It's even piped into the sauna itself which really destroys the relaxation experience. The lighting is also too bright for a spa area. Having been used to the more subdued lighting at Ashton (and no intrusive music!) I was surprised at this. Ironically, the music was loudest in the 'relaxation area'.
P. P.
I love this place, I do swimming gym and sauna, then a coffee.
The staff are amazing and always ready to help.
There is a cafe, Food looks good although only had a coffee
There is also bowling, soft play, a creche.
It is also very clean.
K. H.
My son then to a birthday party soft play great food was good, sitting area to small
M. O.
Clean, up to date n friendly service. Shame u can't c where kids r in soft play....ish ha ha
A. S.
Great place for young kids nice sensory garden on roof top cheap prices with active card worth getting
D. R.
A great addition to Denton, just what was needed, somewhere for the kids to go as well as adults, swimming, bowling, gym etc, and well laid out

We booked our son a bowling party for his 7th birthday. We arrived and were welcomed by lovely friendly staff who made us feel comfortable. The party was for 18 children taking up 3 lanes and they had an amazing time. Then it was party food time. They brought everyone chicken nuggets and chips. However, we had sent them a full list of the food choices the children had made and this bore no resemblance to our request. My wife suffers from anxiety and was becoming stressed by the situation. But before the situation could get worse the manager (Amy) came in and rescued the situation brilliantly. Thanks Amy. We highly recommend.

Changing area for the pool is lovely and modern, great showers and the pools are fab - all nice and clean. The big pool is a little on the cooler side for us - probably fine for exercising but a bit cool for just taking the kids to play. The small pool is very warm but gets quite busy so swimming about can get a bit tricky in there. Also, maybe it's ventilation because of covid, but the changing rooms are freezing - be prepared for a quick dash when you get out of the pool or you'll freeze. Lockers take a £1 coin which you get back, they're also roomy so you can share. There are individual and family cubicals to change in.
We have also used the soft play area which is great and perfect for ages 2-5 in our opinion. Be aware that if you're going first thing in the morning then the cafe might not yet be open and they won't sell a bottle of water from the front desk before the cafe part opens, so take a drink. Only thing slightly annoying about the soft play is the seating area, it's just in a narrow line down the side of the play zone, so can be tricky to walk through if you have a pram. Also, you might not want to go all the way to the back if your child is likely to come out of the play zone and run off 😂. Sometimes the creche workers sit in there and have on occasion left a stockroom door open which is quite tempting to some kids to go inside. The main door is sometimes left open too, but I usually just close it if that's the case. The door is actually great, nice and heavy so most kids probably wouldn't be able to open it alone, keeping them safely inside when closed.

As far as a community leisure centre goes, this is right up there. Caters for all people, I use the gym and thermal spa on weekends and really enjoy it. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the size of the freeweights area, feels slightly cramped.
S. B.
Really do love all the facilities Crown Point Active has to offer. The only criticism I would have is concerning the sauna and steam room area. The lighting is so bright in the relaxation area, that you definitely can't relax and chill. Would be so much better with subdued lighting.
K. P.
Lots of equipment and activities to use.
Good to ring before u turn up for the general swim and the kids play centre. As some times if there is a party the full play centre is closed off and the swimming can get very busy.
P. M.
It's a great place for the community. My kids have swimming lessons here, and we enjoy the bowling and play centre.
S. K.
Great staff! just a shame there isnt 2 slow lanes in the swimming
M. W.
Good couple of hours for my daughter's 13th birthday.
B.
The facilities are okay, the finger print system is the reason I cancelled my membership and went elsewhere. Also the swimming does not have a large enough capacity for its demand.
N. B.
Great facilities and all of the team that work here are brilliant!
t. j.
Disappointed in the lack of cleaning of the soft play. Food all on the tables, the floor. Juice in the baby soft play. Toilets-Sanitary products all shoved down it. No urgency to sweep or clean up when told at the desk
Z. K. Z.
Soft play is clean and has toddler and baby zones. Bowling area is nice too, staff are lovely and very accommodating. Love coming here.
P. R.
My son does swimming lessons here there fantastic. Clean and friendly too. Got a bowling alley here a gym also a play area for kids that do parties too.
A. D.
Good soft play and fun for a little party
M. G.
Tameside Wellness Centre has loads to offer. The swimming facilities are great and clean. Plenty of space in the changing rooms. I love the circle library area for children and adults to read. The bowling alley and soft play area seem popular amongst the young ones. What makes it great is the staff are always willing to help.
D. M.
There is a bit of everything for everyone. The gym is very small and equipment is often occupied. There is a fair variety of classes to choose from. There are two swimming pools for adults and children. Unfortunately due to the pandemic and advanced booking system, it is almost impossible to get a spot for a swim, the spa area is closed and the gym is always packed (and not 24/7)
P. H.
A great place and the staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble. The only fly in the ointment is the hopeless fingerprint entry system, especially the bike rack, which has not worked since day one. Lets hope the manager is as good as his staff and sorts it.
M. A.
Really nice experience here. They have 2 swimming pools, swimming club. They also have a soft play area for the kids, a seating area if u want a chat or read a book. 24 hour gym access. Spa and sauna. And a bowling arena aswell. Which I would highly recommend and is value for money. Defenitley made Denton a brighter place and a good place for the community
C. T.
Appauling customer servce was told to download app went home and have been trying for 2 days now. No one answers when you phone up and try putting bike in storage area total joke.
All i want to do is go for a swim
The old Baths were better at least i could get in....
I now have resolved the problems i had re apps and swim however bike storage has issues thats why no bikes are in. Nice new facility though.
A. W.
Good price for membership, great facilities and not too busy
R. W.
We'd seen that there was 10 pin bowling here & decided to give it a try......we had a good time. The only slight downside was a lack of lightweight bowls with large finger holes...perhaps something that can be fairly easily remedied. Looking forward to another visit though. Also had a tour of the facilities & we were impressed overall.
Z. (.
Great for the kids you can go swimming, bowling & there is a soft play area aswell plus a 24hr Gym highly recommend - oww and you also get your money back on parking if you bring one half if your ticket in *****
A. C.
My little girl had an exclusive hire party in the play area and can't fault the staff and service
They were friendly, helpful the area was cleaned and kids had a fantastic time.
I will def be using it again
J. R.
Really pleased that we have this centre local to us. However there are some things that weren't thought out properly. The soft play area - awful seating and nowhere near enough seats. Considering the size of the building I'd expect more. The entry sytem to the soft play really needs sorting out with something better. There are 2 phone numbers for the centre which NEVER get answered. Great choice on the menu but prices are terrible, £2.50 for one egg on one slice of toast is ridiculous. Don't bother buying the sharing platter, it's only enough for one. PLUS POINTS its a 5 min walk for us, kids enjoy the play area and there will be hosting sessions for special needs children and adults. There's also a mini library in there too.
N. S.
Absolutely fantastic new building encompassing various health and wellbeing activities.
Extremely good measures put into place at the moment due to the pandemic. The swimming reopened on Monday and I think they dealt with everything very well, explaining thoroughly where to go and what to do. Well done all involved.
p. g.
Loved bowling and so did the kids
A. C.
Clean, good quality facilities and helpful staff.
N. G. k. o.
So glad l joined, its challenging relaxing, entertaining, a great way to exercise your body and mind xx
N. F.
You only got 45 minutes to an hour wich isn't much fun for the kiddies tho pool is spotless tho and is a amazing size, theirs also bowling and a sort play area that's perfect for kiddies plus they sell food aswel
S. P.
A few teething problems but on the whole really nice place. But...when I joined I asked about pool access. Tonight the pool was not accessible due to lessons. False selling .....as I was told specifically that there would always be access to the pool. I would not have signed up if there were any restrictions. up
C. O.
What a great place. Facilities are fab, staff are really friendly and the food is good and good value too.
M. R.
Nice and clean and bowling was good but tried to pay online which it refused so tried again and declined card again so phoned and payed over the phone then checked online banking and I had been charged 3 times £105
L. Y.
Kids party. They had a ball. Well recommended.
I. B.
It is a very nice place to spend an afternoon there, it has swimming, bowling, gym, kids soft play area, cafe area.
V. C.
I am one of many who have moved over from the old Denton pool and I like the new facilities so far, especially the changing area & showers.
However, there are no sessions set aside for the many adult swimmers who just want to turn up for an hour or so and do their lengths at their own pace.
Filling the pool with all those ropes (each one of which takes up room that someone could swim in), grading swimmers into slow, medium & fast areas and having signs up stating which direction we are to play follow-my-leader, is not the way forward IMHO.
And please don't get me started about the coloured plastic wristbands they give out, which end up floating about in the pool like discarded plasters.....
A. J.
I go swimming everyday. I have made quite a few swimming pals through going. It has done wonders for my mental health. The only issue I have is when they allow 9 or 10 swimmers in a lane. This is far too many. There is no way that you can keep a safe distance with that many swimmers in a lane, especially when there are lanes then left with a lot less in them. I asked why this was and the guard said because they can, the guidelines say so.
C. C.
Great place, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

It was a great experience visiting the place

All new. Used the pool very good all new. My biggest gripe is cycle storage. It has finger print entry but its not working properly. Staff unable to sort out.
S. B.
Absolutely brilliant, the staff were great and my Autistic son had a fantastic time.
L. H.
Met my sister for a sauna and steam room, very clean and not too busy.

The Wellness Centre Denton offers a fantastic range of health facilities and is a credit to TMBC, vision for the future I am very impressed
Obviously this new facility will have some teething issues which I am confident will be ironed out, The instant popularity proves what a success this Centre will be and definitely a benefit to a healthier Tameside 👍
E. B.
