Reviews of Rushcliffe Arena

I joined this gym after recently moving to Nottingham. After visiting multiple gyms in the area, this was by far my favourite! I was immediately greeted by a helpful, informative and friendly sales member, Alice. Her positivity and knowledge made me feel really comfortable and excited about joining! I was also impressed by the range of equipment in the gym as well as the smaller additional studio space. During my time as a member I have enjoyed various classes which I can conveniently book through the app. I look forward to experiencing different classes in the future! Overall, I cannot fault Rushcliffe arena.

Good quality facilities with lots of things to do. Denise on the reception is a lovely lady, always got a smile on her face and always down for a chinwag. She was very welcoming to both myself and my mates and showed us around when we first started. Would recommend :)
D. B.
Joined about a month ago after not going to gym for a year and was blown away but the amount of equipment that was on offer, even though it is always busy you never have to wait to get on a piece of machinery. The staff are amazing and always in attendance but not bothering you. The opening times are great and I've started going at 6am and it definitely gives you a kick-start to your day.
K. B.
Great facilities - took our little one to the swimming lessons, he really enjoyed it and great to meet other toddler his age. 30 min lessons every week and they make it very engaging by offering badges for the children to reach.
Alot of good facilities in the arena- gym table tennis snooker squash badminton and much more!
O. D.
Great place to workout with plenty of machines in the gym. The staff are lovely especially Denise at reception who me and my mates have got to know over the last few months. Overall, top quality place with everything you need to keep fit.
W. M.
Brilliant gym with a wide range of facilities. A recently revamped app provides a much improved booking experience.
Special mention to Denise on reception for her warm welcome upon arrival and her assistance with membership and swimming lesson matters.
Shout out to Sharon too, she is a fantastic instructor who always gets the best out of you on Spin/Pump/HIIT, even if it does hurt the next day….
V. H.
The arena have a variety of high quality gym classes spread out throughout the week. The gym is very spacious with good facilities available. Alice the receptionist is always very welcoming and friendly, she is approachable to answer any questions.
C. B.
Really impressed with the equipment available here. Usually I find leisure centre gyms lack weight training equipment but this has everything I need. The classes are also brilliant. The only thing that really annoys me is that everyone leaves their weights on the bars and machines. This is really dangerous and they need to properly enforce removing them after use.
H. B.
Denise helped me sign up and has done a fantastic job of supporting some of my friends and I find the best memberships to suit our needs. She has been kind, professional and always keen to hear how you're getting on. Lovely gym and facilities. Also would recommend the spin classes (especially with Gil!) and squash!

I've been a member for over a year now and have no complaints. Great range of equipment and the staff are always helpful and friendly if you engage with them. I try to avoid the busy times - especially in the evening, when I've noticed a fair number of young people whose idea of 'an hour in the gym' means sitting on the equipment and texting. But all gyms have those, and it isn't the establishment's fault. I'm not 100% convinced by the brand new hip adductor machine, as the fixed 'knee pads' push your leg above the knee in the soft bit, which is uncomfortable with a heavier weight lift, but I will get used to it (people with shorter legs won't notice). There's loads of parking available, but again be aware that evenings are busy with kids' swimming classes and finding a space can be more of an issue. It's a very good leisure centre, though. And until I joined I had no idea it was there - even though it is only a five minute drive away!
S. B.
A lot of really good facilities and is welcoming for people who would use the gym for the first time
R. L.
Fantastic local leisure centre offering excellent facilities to the local community.
Staff were excellent and felt very safe with the new Covid restrictions in place.
a. d.
Great facilities - lots of top spec equipment. Decent number of Wattbike's available. Staff extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. All in all excellent value for money compared to the local competition.
Y. T.
I took part in a BTT class today it was a great class. I am just visiting for a couple of weeks so cannot join on a membership but it is still great value for money.
It’s a lovely centre and the staff are so kind and helpful. If I lived here I would definitely join.
M.
Fantastic experience for relaxing, swimming and hard training for the sports person who want to keep fit and well.
All the staff are fantastic and helpful for you every need. I’d take my hat off to denise if I had one
S. W.
Great place to workout in gym , staff always willing to help and answer any questions. Fantastic new equiptment too. Aqua fit great workout and lots of fun
T. W.
Fantastic facility - super friendly staff, & great value for money. Recent additions to the exercise schedule have given an added boost to the already extensive variety of workout options.

Discovered a hidden fitness gem in virtual bodybalance on a Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Rushcliffe Arena. Don’t be fooled by the reference to yoga or Pilates, this is a tough (tough!) workout that builds strength and toughens your core.
K. T.
Such an amazing family swimming pool at this centre. I’ve found it clean, tidy, helpful staff snd good value for money at this leisure centre.
K. “. H.
It's what it is. Nothing to write home about. The receptionist was kind and helpful but can't say the same about other staff.
I. D.
Great facilities which are perfectly complemented by the always friendly and efficient service.
O. D.
Good facilities, however the fact you need to book in swimming sessions is a bit of a hassle and the times don’t allow me to swim on Mondays
p. g.
Went here to sort out Blue badge and they gave me a number so I thanked staff
J. S.
Great all new facilities. Baby pool is the warmest and prettiest in the borough. Main Pool is a little cold, but once you get swimming you soon warm up.. the showers afterwards are so hot - it's a treat. The gym is very good
J. C.
It's a fabulous council commissioned leisure facility. The pool is good, gym is amazing and for some reason it has an amazing indoor bowling green (nobody knows why, if you did want to go bowling you would surely go to the Poppy and Pint in Ladybay). 1 star removed as the pool is badly managed eg the kids pool is available to families for c12 hours a week.
J. P. (.
Very clean and tidy. Awesome for the little ones as the kids pool has this big play area beside it with tipping buckets of water and shoots of water coming up from the ground!
Only thing that let down our last visit to the place is that we waited 30 minutes for a sandwich from the cafe!!! Fortunately we were not in a rush and the staff were very apologetic and we ended up getting our money refunded.
D. G.
I go 2-3 times a week, decent gym people are friendly, people of all ages train here from 16 to 60 years old. Very good range of equipment, all clean and modern. The place is always today. I would recommend this place to friends and family.
D. F.
First experience of new Arena today, taking son for a swim at 12.00. Car park was really full, although we did find a place to park at the back. Huge waste of space in Reception area, with tiny cafe space. Not impressed with having to wait 25 mins to queue at Reception because there were too many children in the training pool. Changing rooms were very clean, although no showers were in use because of the draining problem of people standing in water in changing room cubicles. Pool area great, but very busy. I want to enrol my son for swimming lessons, but in my current gym, I can swim in main pool whilst he has his lesson, so won't do it if main pool is closed. Not concerned about being viewed by people in cafe/outside-what do the people who have complained do on beaches?! I think that the Council should take a vote from users before going to great expense to put a film up on windows. Coffee not very nice, but reasonable price. It will be interesting to see if the Council respond to the collective views posted here. It is early days so hopefully the teething problems will be sorted out.
S. C.
Not over impressed. Had to go for physio appointment. Was given wrong instructions for finding and tried to follow signs. Had to get upstairs and find signs again. Arrived at the gym and had to ask again. Was told to go through the gym, turn right and last door. Got there but didn't enjoy walking past everyone lifting weights. I had to do the same coming out but I found a lift.
Had a quick look at the pool which was busy. Again not ideal for those with physical disabilities. Won't be using it again apart from the physio appointments from my doctors referral.
L. S.
Gym equipment is modern and good but the mats for floor work / stretching etc is too small.
Layout is odd for the following reasons. If you want to use sauna / steam room after your workout, you need to move from the changing rooms upstairs to the mixed pool changing rooms down stairs which by the way you may not be able to use if the pool is in use for women only etc.
If you want to refill your water bottle whilst using the pool / steam room / sauna well you can't as they didn't think to put a fountain down here so you would need to get dressed and go back up to the gym for that.
So after my workout I decided to use the mixed showers as using pool area however.... No tempature control on the showers just on and not on for long enough! . It's a good hot shower but after a steam I personally want a cooler shower or you end up looking like lobster still sweating on they way back home.
No soap, not in the showers or the toilets!
It really feels like allot of details where missed when this was built such as male and female changing rooms that connect to the pool and the gym! . I've only been once so I'm willing to give it a couple of months.
For gym equipment I'd give it a good 4*
Showers 2*
Steam pool and sauna (good if you are allowed to use and if you have enough water to drink)
Price is good for what you get and short term contract.
P. M.
I absolutely love our local leisure centre. With a good sized swimming pool and great children's activity pool. There is a steam room and sauna poolside.
The gym has every type of machine, weights, kit that you need to work out. Bikes & runners have large tv selection to take your mind away from the punishment.
A large choice of classes are available and they are very popular.
There are s1uash courts, snooker tables and a large sports hall too.
Add to this a nice cafeteria.
The place is kept clean and is very modern
C. P.
Overall very pleased with the new facilities and have used regularly since opening in January. I think there could be more opportunities for lane swimming open to all ages groups. Plus more opportunities for young teenagers to access the gym. There appear to be a lot of restrictions for the under 16s.
S. C.
The good:
Great selection of equipment, although the cable machines could do with new cables!
Loads of squat racks and places to bench, ample benches (I've never had to wait for one)
Fellow members are friendly and will chat if you fancy a chat, never had a problem finding a spotter and very few ego lifters in there.
Price is fair, £60 odd for a couples membership that includes swimming too!
Only really busy between 6-8, fine in the morning before work, dead all day and dead after 8 which isn't the worst gym I've been to! Most city gyms are packed between 4-10pm and a bit of a chore.
Trainers are knowledgeable and friendly, although they never put their equipment away...
So far so good... why the 3 star review?!
The bad:
This would be a 5 star review if the air con worked. Some council meeting full of overweight middle management who have never used a gym decided it would be a great idea for the gym to overlook the pool and have nice big windows so you can see in.
This creates an unbearable greenhouse effect for the whole gym with warm, moist air seeping in through the windows making the gym space a humid, sweaty nightmare. When the people who work in the gym and aren't moving at all are wearing shorts and Tshirt then you know the gym is too warm.
The air con is beyond a joke and is only switched on for peak times presumably so no one keels over from heat stroke.
The rare occasion you see anyone lifting a heavy weight in here they are a sweaty mess and red faced.
The ugly:
Equipment, floors etc are filthy. There's only 2 members of staff who you ever seen cleaning. The rest stand around chatting. There's genuinely clumps of fluff around lifting platforms that have been there longer than I've been attending. Starting to wonder if they pay a monthly fee. There's plasters that have been on the floor so long they have their own locker in the staff room.
Little to no eye candy, one of the worst gyms for it. Maybe that's why David Lloyds charge so much?
S. S.
Fantastic leisure Centre. Has all facilities. The badminton court and swimming pool are the highlights.. Ample parking spaces. However I lost my water bottle and ankle support not sure why anyone will take it and not give to lost and found team.. 😁
C. M.
Worrying slippy floor in swimming pool changing room (which I reported a few times) but otherwise a great facility. Plenty of group exercise classes which are easy to book onto especially with the online booking system. Helpful and friendly staff.
K. S.
I've only used the pool and cafe here. I take my baby on a regular basis and the facilities work well for that. They have a few family changing rooms that include baby changing tables. Service at the café is a bit slow and the queueing situation is unclear meaning that I have had people cut in front of me on multiple occasions.
N. “. N. x. M.
The gym is amazing and so is the pool but the women's changing and shower room for the gym is disgusting!. The smell is awful and even one of the rubbish bins smelt awful as I threw away my receipt and I saw a used tampon and other things that that bin isn't for. Please sort out the smell it's awful!
R. B.
Very clean and modern, competitively priced swimming lessons. However, it could do with better privacy glass around the pool so people can't stare in through the windows and watch children swim.
L. D.
Fantastic family swimming pool. Pool a bit cold and changing rooms could be enhanced with wall seats for infants for parental ease. But other than that, i can't fault the place!
B. K.
We took our 4 year old swimming here. It is spotless, and the pools are lovely. Great play area and shallow pool for kids, as well as an adult pool with good steps in for entry and disabled aids.
G. M.
Almost new local authority leisure centre. Clean smart amenities for a very reasonable fee.
Little kids love the kiddy pool bit as there's a slide and some fountains.
F.
Clean facilities, modern and well spaced out. Staff have been friendly when I've had to approach them.
Just wish they were open later on weekends, 8pm seems way too early, 9/930 would be better.
B. G.
Great for swimming, gymming, squash and other sports. Loads of car parking, for those too lazy to walk or run there. A good amount of D shaped bike locking stands, meaning you can lock a bike properly through the frame and wheel easily.
Also houses the Rushcliffe Council, so ideal for council based activities.
B. B.
Fantastic brand new building and amazing facilities for a wide range of sports and pass times. This centre is the most advanced leisure centre and it has the most up to date facilities including the fabulous gym. Amazing. Simply amazing.
J. C.
Very new. Very clean. Good choice of food. Polite attentive staff. Lots of facilities. Well used by community. Love the sauna, steam room and pool but everything is spankingly good.
J. B.
Its a nice facility, though lot of times ppl abuse the memberships by overbooking and not showing up the courts. There must be a way or process in place so that courts are actually used when booked, or left available for others to play.
J. D.
Recently joined the new gym. The facilities are amazing and very friendly staff. The only down side is that there is not full access to the sauna and steam room throughout the day
O. W.
What a fantastic refurb and facility! Took my children 10 and 5 swimming in the new pools and they loved it... the eldest was on the inflatables whilst the youngest and I were swimming in the shallow half of the big pool and in the training pool...
J. M.
The pool is good, great for toddlers, but the changing rooms are freezing and not very clean, half the showers didn't work and there aren't enough family change cubicles, especially given the kid friendly pool.
D. R.
Reception staff were very helpful
A. J.
Children's pool is great although ambient temperature is too cold. The timings for general swimming in the children's pool at the weekend are not great as it is often closed for lessons.
T. B.
Pretty good as leisure centres go. Staff are great and really helpful. The gymnastics class on Saturday mornings is fantastic.
A. S.
Very pleasant, great facilities, reasonably priced, clean, safe and free parking.
A lovely restaurant serving hot and cold food, an array of refreshments overlooks the swimming pool.
M. W.
A very municipal places. Despite being nearly new, it feels a bit tired. How did the council manage it? But it does have good facilities.
G. I.
Quite nice, pool is not often available and some of the machines don't connect to the network meaning the whole tracking card system doesn't work.
S. C.
Nice pool, again I only go there for swimming. The changing rooms are nice and there are lots of toilets 😉 i however it's not as simple as Harvey Hadden but it's still a nice place
L. M.
We take are grandsons swimming. We always have lovely time. Lovely clean area's. A little cafe and vending machines. The place is great.
R. B.
Shocking car park design, overpriced pay as you go. Pool purely for fun not lane swimming.
Good facilities and clean so not all bad.
M. M.
Very clean, modern, great sports hall for classes but big let down now is new height restrictions to rear car park as can't get big van in easy
M. C.
Excellent staff and facility
P. O.
Five stars for the range and quality of the equipment in the gym. Only just opened so waiting to see if the level of service improves over previous incarnations.
D. S.
Considering they have such a good kids pool the fact they have so few family changing rooms is unforgivable. Also the pool is not as warm as Victoria leasure center
P. n. S.
Nice 25m pool (loads of other facilities too) . Would get 5 stars but the pool and changing area could do with being a bit cleaner
N. S.
Tiles are really slippy in swimming changing rooms. Showers don't work and haven't for weeks but apart from that reasonably good.
A. B.
The swim pool is nice, changing rooms a bit chaotic during after school swimming sessions. The reception is always helpful.
J. H.
Great gym for the price you pay
r. j.
Used the gym for nearly two years, open plan lit up well and have never thought about moving to another. Have never used any other facilities.
D. R.
I've been going to this gym for about a month and so far I'm really happy with the classes I've been attending. Staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable
C. N.
Modern, clean, easy to access leisure centre, a distinctly pleasant experience compared to the usual fair of 1950s/60s concrete council monstrosities
j. B.
Lovely clean place, nice staff and great pool. Good cafe for a treat after a workout !!
R. K.
Excellent new sport facility for the local community. Could have done with viewing for the pool area when children are having lessons.
M. L.
Excellent, good selection of modern facilities, easy parking. Well equipped gym.
B. B.
Good place... swimming pool is nice, gym facilities are good and the ability to book classes online is great.
c. b.
Just been re-built providing a new gym and showers, sauna, steam room, pool , squash and various classes. All for £37 pcm - bargain..!
G. E.
Helpful staff, wide food selection and good facilities, besides from the inexcusable fact that there are no tennis courts, which is why this isn't a 5 star
E. C.
Great facility but desperate lack of planning regards the pool changing area. Shame.
D. G.
Great local centre. Unisex changing rooms with a good pool. Warmer pool for kids
P. J.
It's a pretty reasonable price here for playing things like badminton squash and so on. Not really use much else in this Sports Centre
B. D.
Good facilities. Clean orderly and working. Good gym and nice looking pool
C. T.
My son does his karate here but we also come here for swimming as its good for little ones too
C. K.

A. S.

A. C.
Fantastic facilities, great gym and friendly staff
A. B.
Gym is great. Busy but never full. Good machines, 6 wattbikes.
T. G.
Excellent toddler pool and clean changing rooms. Could be a little warmer in the changing room for little ones though.
s. b.
Love the gym.. it's constant cool temperature makes it easier to work out .. Great building 👍😎
H. H.
yeah its a gym, just like all the other hypo-globo mega gyms. its no fun and its not a relaxed setting like the old Rushcliffe leisure centre.
t. h.
Lots of facilities great new building with public restrooms and cafe all reasonable prices too.
R. L.
Clean, great pool facilities for all the family. Clean. Nice cafe
s. l.
Wonderful swimming pool with sauna and steam room red hot showers brand new this year
L. H.
Only used the pool for our grandson. Great kids area. Recommended
K. K.
It was very disorganised to start with, but a lot better now. Still very disappointed with the table tennis availability & positioning.
S. G.
My little girl loves swimming in the tiny pool. She tries to drink the water but I think they have plenty in the back
S. K.
Came swimming here with my little girl and she loved it, plenty for the little ones to do and get them use to the water
J. I.
Sometimes water is cold, sometimes warm enough...strange rules regarding sauna and steam room...
c. m.
Fantastic place with good facilities and an excellent variety of classes, highly recommended as great value for money.
R. B.
Had our 2nd baby market here. Lovely venue for the occasion with loads of free parking
J. A.
The best (and cheapest!) gym in town! I go three times a week.
R. W.
Designed by the creator's of black mirror, sterilised to the eighteenth degree, swim or gym in a modern sanctity of genericness.
D. H.
Friendly, excellent facilities, child friendly, good parking, convenient location
D. G.
Plenty of different sports to do and a good selection of keep fit classes with good instructors
A. B.
Fantastic new facilities. Pool could have been bigger tho.

J. T.
Was very nice when new but getting a little tired already. Should spend a little more on maintenance and cleaning
E. T.
Felt they were struggling with the amount of people there on a weekend in January, will be interesting to see if they cope much better on a rainy weekend in the summer.
D. H.
Good leisure centre. Gets very busy at weekends though.
E. M.
Happy with the gym facilities, but that's all I use. I pay per session so it works for me.
