Found this shop online with a couple others went to one nothing there I needed. Emperor Tropicals was 3 miles from the first shop..... very friendly and helpful staff, had everything I was looking for all dry goods never got around to looking at the marine fish so it will be another trip to Plymouth. I never went to the third shop no need. Recommended have a look for yourself I don't think you will be disappointed!!! See you soon Emperor Tropicals.....

Small local aquatics shop. I've known about this place for a long time, but never been in. What a mistake that was! Every time I've visited, I've been welcomed as soon as I step in the door. Help is always offered. They have diverse range of tropical species and the products that go with it. Some of the display tanks look very appealing. The staff can't do enough for you. Would highly recommend to anybody in the area.

The staff here are incredible helpful every single time I've visited. Chris helped me purchase a tank for shrimp just before the first lockdown and I can't thank him enough for his expertise and helpfulness in my purchase. It was such a fantastic hobby to have picked up for the past year and I truly believe it has made the past year a little easier! I'd love to give this shop 5 stars as it has great stock and knowledgeable staff but as we found yesterday, it's quite a stressful place to visit at the moment. You can't see how many ppl are inside the shop and because it's so narrow they really need a one way system going round the shop. One of the staff nearly bumped into me and in the end we left without buying our fish because it was getting too stressful. If it can be made more covid safe then the shop will be 5 stars again.

I have taken over 3 goldfish in a tank and know very little about them. I knew I had a problem with the filter. The retailer took time to explain what the matter was in layman's terms and how I could solve it. I bought a different filter, and she explained how to install it and showed me how it went together. Excellent service, very knowledgeable and professional- and my issue was sorted out. I could not have asked for more.

Love visiting here to see all of the different fish. The staff are absolutely amazingly helpful. Street parking and easy access, but if you need a walker to help you walk, it does get a little cramped inside the shop when there are loads of customers. I usually hold onto my partners arm so i dont cause an inconvenience to other customers by blocking the aisle with my walker. Actually going back again soon as they have some beautiful tank ornaments and we fancy a change. On the whole, its a nice shopping experience if you visit here or even just to pop in for your children to see the fish.

Great shop, great staff, what more could you ask for. Picked up some angels and bits and bobs, had a few questions regarding equipment so asked a member of staff, they weren't sure so they checked with someone else who had the answer and even found me the part number in a catalogue as it wasn't something I'd expect them to have on the shelf and didn't expect me to order it through them as it's about an hour drive. NOT COVID SAFE. I've visited several times over the past month and have observed no measures to mitigate risk of transmission. Staff do not wear face coverings, make no attempt to social distance and certainly don't enforce or even recommend customers follow the government guardiance measures. I'm afraid to say on visiting you'll find many customers not wearing face masks correctly or not at all. Now while these are all negatives I should take a moment to commend the store on a great customer experience (previously stated issues aside) with a knowledgeable staff that couldn't be more helpful answering our questions and assisiting us with our first fish tank purchase. I just hope they'll take the time to read this review and consider what practical changes could be put in place to minimise risk.

Far and away the best shop in Plymouth. Tropical fish were all looking in great condition, no signs of malnutrition, disease or debris in any of the aquariums. The fish themselves were reasonably priced and emperor stocked a wide variety of species and types. Cold water fish were equally well stocked, well cared for and we'll priced. The Marine section is one of the best I've seen in Plymouth, a wide range of species were available all in excellent condition and health. Near the front door is an aquatic plant tank that was very well displayed and stocked, as with their fish, these plants all looked in excellent condition. The staff were all extremely nice, offering us help and assistance. The store is perhaps not the easiest to navigate for disabled users, however it was clean and very well stocked. Honestly can't imagine why you want visit any other store. Great stuff.

Excellent. I wouldn't bother going anywhere else. The staff are both knowledgeable and helpful. Wide array of stock, both of the fishy and non-fishy type. The fish (and their tanks) are kept in excellent condition. Great selection of healthy plants. Due to the amount of stock/tanks there isn't very much room to spare and as such walking to the back of the shop does somewhat remind me of a caving expedition, albeit one with a till at the half way point.

The manager and staff are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to give advice. The shop is well stocked with aquarium accessories, but when I required something that wasn’t in stock they were able to obtain it within a few days. Most importantly, the fish appear to be in excellent condition and disease free. I understand they generally go through a quarantine period before they are sold and I personally have not had a problem when buying fish here.

Discovered this place after being sorely disappointed with other aquatic places locally. It was like walking into aquatic heaven. The staff were amazing and incredibly helpful without being pushy. What a great place to buy all you tropical/marine fish supplies. The staff are really knowledgeable, they dont rush you or pressure you, they offer great advice and service. The store stocks fish, tanks, plants, spares. In fact everything you need to keep your aquarium going. Does get very busy inside the store, but it is worth waiting to be served. They will answer all questions and are very very helpfull. Only down side is parking, not much room available, but that is a small price to pay, for the service they provide. Well done to all the staff, from a happy customer. Would recommend them to anyone who is looking at taking up the hobby, or already has a tank up and running.

What a hidden gem, looking from the outside you think that this cant be much of a shop BUT open the door WOW, spotless tanks stocked with really healthy fish topped off by such helpful staff. A really wide selection of of fish and plants. very reasonably priced. we went up there from Lostwithiel, so a 60 mile round trip but worth every mile. Amazing selection different varieties stored in a way make it simple and easy to design and build on on your collection staff was super friendly and helpful with a lot of knowledge regarding fish we purchased and give helpful tips to keep tanks clean and healthy.
