A great place to enjoy the summer afternoons in Reading. Around 30 - 40 mins walk from the Town Centre of Reading its quite a lovely place to enjoy the weekend summer afternoons.

The weather forecast for the day was a 100% chance of rain and there was a yellow warning issued by the Met Office. The outlook for our planned Cub Adventure Day on the early May Bank holiday at Wokingham Waterside Centre (WWC) wasn’t looking great - oh dear! However, I am absolutely glad we went ahead as luckily the forecast rain stayed away and it remained dry for our session. There can be miracles when you believe! It was still cold and windy though (in May?...this is England after all) but the Cubs dealt with it well. With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions, our Cub Pack had received the necessary approvals to meet face-to-face for our Adventure Day. In addition, I was satisfied with WWC’s own risk assessments and the adaptions that they had implemented to make both water and land activities COVID-secure. We had booked a day of activities including kataKanuing, kayaking and raft building at a cost of £25 per person. The WWC staff, from booking to running the activities, were very accommodating and made them fun and engaging. The day started with a safety briefing followed by a buoyancy aid fitting then straight on to the water. The last activity of day, raft building using a frame, barrels and ropes, was a favourite and a great problem-solving and team building activity for the Cubs to do together. However, given that the wind had picked up again, they were unable to launch very far from the bank. Nonetheless, the Cubs and adults enjoyed themselves immensely in spite of the windy and cold conditions. One Cub didn’t mind being wet and was even brave enough to take a plunge in the Thames. My verdict - I would highly recommend.

Great facilities and staff team. If you want to learn how to canoe Kayak or Stand Up Paddleboard this is the place to do it. They run everything from Hire and taster sessions through to Instructor and coach qualifications. All their instructors are trained and qualified with National Governing Body awards and are passionate about what they teach.

Great quiet place to come to, on your own or with family

Only visited to take part in the Reading Parkrun. About a 30 minute walk from Reading train station but a pleasant walk along the Thames especially on a sunny day. Worth a visit for a stroll and there was quite a lot if sporting activity on the day I visited, with the parkrun, a nearby 5k run and also a children's football tournament on the nearby football pitches.

Great day today at the centre. My friend and I had a lesson with Fin on the paddleboards. He was so helpful and patient with us as we were very inexperienced. Within 30 minutes we were both standing up and we were turning the paddleboards round! Great place, go and try it out!

Nice walk along the river, over horse shoe bridge, carry on along the river, have a coffee at Tescos, then off to the river and then the lock then into town.

I attended Sunsetters throughout summer on a Monday evening- £8 for at least an hour if kayaking. They have sit on tops or sit in. This group allows to to paddle together along the river with instructors but at the group's pace. Good if you're beginning or want to see if it's for your I attended a 1-2-1 too which was good as just pafdl d around for an hour but didn't learn anything new but I have kayaked before. They do group trips throughout the year. The staff are friendly and remember attendees, allowed me to meet new people and have a laugh with friends. We did one trip at night with head torches which was memorable. Some sessions overran so I suggest not having plans after so you can enjoy the extended time on the water.

I did a SUP taster session with a friend. Really great activity for a Saturday afternoon and we were lucky to have perfect weather conditions for it. Our guide was Finn who was amazing! He's very experienced so was great at helping us with techniques and he was fun to chat to along the way. I definitely recommend this and I'll be back to do it again!

Today was our second visit to the centre. Both times have been great! The staff are friendly, professional and so helpful. We took our dog with us today for his first time and Connor gave us some brilliant tips on helping us get him used to the kayak. We all felt safe and had a great time. Highly recommend Wokingham Waterside Centre.

Great for watersports like paddle boarding and kayaking. You can hire them for £10 ph with buoyancy aid. An excellent way to try things out and have some fun. Secure parking but you have to get someone to open the gate. Good staff well.

Incredible staff and fantastic venue. Doesn't matter if you're a experienced kayaker or just want to give it a go, they seemed to give everyone the same excellent service. The coffee they serve is also great and at a low price given the area and potential monopoly!

Presentation in the hall was difficult because the large glass windows allowed too much light through and the centre had no way of properly covering the windows. They said they have an electrically operated shutter which had broken down and they had no plans nor the budget to get it repaired. Toilets were barely usable, not really fit for a first world country like UK. So I would say the centre is going downhill and if not rectified soon enough would be really bad. The saving grace was the friendly and helpful nature of the staff. If it wasn't for that I would have taken another star off the rating.

Free parking,great place to picnic part of the Thames path walk. launch your unpowered boat or rent kayaks and paddle boards near by (hiring gives you use of the toilets) Would give it a 5 but local council have shut the toilets, it seems for good.?

Just been here on day one of a two day Yoga program. Even though the hall has a projector and screen to show videos, the hall has large glass windows open to the river side. Although this provides nice views from the hall, when making presentation too much light comes in through the windows making it very hard to view what is being presented using the projector. There are signs that these windows had a motorised curtains or blinds but as of now the curtains or blinds are missing. Apparently the centre doesn't have any budget for this. Because of this it looses two stars.

We went for the Dragon boat race event organised with Reading Lions Club, it was a great day out and lots of fun, highly recommend it and will be going again next year with the aim to come first rather than a close second - well done Willmott Warriors!

I just visited to Wokingham water center 2020 summers which is very faintastic/adventure/mind blowing and staff is very helpful and guide me properly and professionally 😊😊Special Thanks to James Gerrans who guide me and support me for paddling and kayaking !!
