Reviews of Alpine Snowsports Southampton
A. B.
Booked the donutting for a hen party and we all had such a laugh.
Karen was amazing throughout the booking process and on the day made us feel so welcomed and made sure everything was what we wanted.
We also booked the chalet which is a great space to finish off the day.
The taxis did struggle to find this so I would say some clearer signposting from the main road might be better.
Amazing value for money and I would recommend for any groups.
S. K.
Good experience
My daughter had a day ski course and it's worth it.
Trainer was very professional and able
High class
S. S.
Friendly atmosphere and welcoming!
If you take lessons, all equipment is ready when you arrive, if you fill in your personal details before the day off lesson.
Slopes are great to learn on and good enough to test your skills before heading off to the slopes.
Chalet cafe is open weekends for those who just want to watch.
C. S.
First time doing anything on a dry slope, and we decided to go donutting. A great fun activity, suitable for all. The staff are friendly, the location is beautiful, but the directions aren't the best. Making use of "what 3 words" would prove beneficial. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be going again.
H. F.
Took 3 grandsons aged between 7 and 17.
Thoroughly loved by them all. Would recommend this. Great for fun and wearing them out!!!
One little niggle, instructors did not watch the kids as they used the "ski lift" . So smaller kids were just holding on to the "pole" with one hand and not riding on it.
Apart from that it's a great place.
D. G.
Been donutting here three now and loved it every time. Mixed ages of between 49 and 11. Everyone enjoyed it. Great fun you won't be disappointed. Need to be able to walk uphill so basic fitness.
E. B.
My son had a private ski lesson with one of their instructors, they were fabulous and my son thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were very kind and experienced, we will be returning.
J. S.
Thank you so much Karen and Fraser for being so lovely and accommodating. My grandson and I had a wonderful time with the donut slope all to ourselves.
E. S.
Kids had loads of fun doughnutting we had a 14, 13, 11, 9 and 7 year old and they all got on with it with out any adults having to go on and had a brilliant time together. We just sat and watched which was a nice hours peace seeing them have fun.
S. D.
Great place for both novices to learn and the more advanced to practice. Staff extremely pleasant and patient. Could do with better coffee machine! But don't let that put you off. Will go again.
G. F.
Difficult to navigate to on GPS. You have to arrive early and park on the main road south of the slopes and walk through the park. The induction training was a good first ski experience for my girlfriend. Facilities and equipment need investment but otherwise an ok adventure.
E. J.
Thank you to Active Nation for providing reduced price SEN doughnutting and Skiing at Southampton Snowsports Centre. My boys absolutely love taking part. The staff are lovely, the venue great, nice coffee, ice-cream and snacks available. Situated in Southampton sports centre a tiny walk from the pleasure park with trampolines, huge slide and other rides.
Highly recommend here for a fun time.
J. K.
We tried snowboarding and enjoyed it. We then tried skiing and loved it and will now continue.
We also did donating which was great fun!
Can purchase drinks, snacks, lollies and gloves on site.
G. G.
Fantastic place - never knew this was here until recently but now I know I’ll definitely be back. There is a tiny baby slope, a do-nut slope and then the normal dry ski slope. My daughter and I had an hour skiing and it was such fun - our first time to ski not on snow. Really good fun! They also do learn to ski and learn to snowboard, and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
D. S.
Great outdoor dry slope. Contours and trees help to give the Alpine Snowsports centre a great feel. Both of our kids are having lessons here to prepare for an upcoming ski holiday. The Skids lessons (for 4-10 year olds) are a good intro but the pace of the lessons is a little slow. So whilst these lessons are good for learning the basics and getting some confidence and experience on skis, for real progress I would recommend the private one to one lessons. The facilities off the slope are pretty basic but it has all you need. Staff are friendly and the teaching staff know their stuff.
P. D.
Wonderful place to spend a day. From dry ski ing to just have a pleasant walk on a day like today. The kids loved it.
P. K.
Its a bit hard to find on google maps, as the post code they advertise only takes you to an edge of a park, but once in, its great fun..friendly staff, free lockers and service is great!
A. S.
Took my 6 year old for a group ski lesson and the staff were friendly, helpful and really good with the children. She had a great time.
T. “.
Went as part of a kids party.
2 children got injured due to the 2 members of staff not showing a proper duty of care.
Accidents happen, but when one child is hit in the head with a ski lift pole, and is laying on the ground, the emergency stop button should have been pressed.
Also, children not repeatedly told to wait for all children to stay in their donuts until all have stopped moving, resulting in children getting their legs taken out from under them from other children still coming down the hill.
Thirdly, the children were sent from too far over to thier right at the top of the hill, which has a slope toward a tree. This resulted in children nearly touching the tree on a couple of early occasions, having left the actual dry ski slope surface, and actually been travelling on the grass by the tree. This can't be the first time it's ever happened, as the tree is covered in crash mats.
For the price (which we didn't pay) it was great fun, but more emphasis should be made on safety.
It also would be a good idea to have sheltered areas like open bus stops at the bottom of the slope for spectators. We got absolutely drenched for one hour, even using umbrellas. Such a simple fix, and it would greatly improve our likelihood of returning, and enhance others viewing pleasure.
As for the cafe, having vending machines that the staff have to operate seems like a total waste of staff time.
Hope this constructive criticism finds it's way to the right people
N. P.
Great discovery snowboard session - recommended
A. M.
We came here to do donutting - going down the slope sat in a rubber ring. It was fun, but there were a lot of kids doing it too which meant they wouldn't let us build up enough speed to crash into the bottom properly, so maybe an adult only session would be better?
They let groups go down together which adds to the enjoyment, but if everyone had chosen to go down individually, there were too many people and we wouldn't have go many go's, so smaller group size would be better too.
The ski slope is part of a larger sports facility. I don't know if this was just winter time shut down, but the whole place looked like it needed some investment - the pond was drained, everything needed a coat of paint, the toilets looked like a prison block and smelled like they'd not been cleaned in years!
I. T. D.
Great service and fun activities. 45 min away from Littlehampton.
H.
Great fun activities for the whole family!
M. A.
If you are going skiing / donuting / sledging
SO167AY is not the correct postcode SO167LT is the correct postcode, pass the school all the way to the end and then right, road is narrow so be careful of oncoming traffic and the parking situation is is not great. It was winter so lots of leaves on the path, making the steep downward decent fairly tricky.
The children had fun that was the main part, & things in the play areas are fairly well organised, lots of staff at hand, safety training & coaching & supervision throughout.
M. M.
Kids loved it great fun, parking can be difficult but lot sof off road places on the road in.
M. D.
Not so popular on a chilly morning but I can see the appeal. No experience necessary but what an experience.
S. K.
Great experience for or kid's 12th birthday with his friends
S. S.
Went here recently with my two children 6 and 7 , when booking online had two options, small slegh lane and a higher one . We chose the smaller one as the kids have never done it before and the site said suitable for up to 8 year old. I would say personally its suitable for younger children up to 5 years of age , so was a bit disappointed , the higher lane did look great , you get a donut with that lane not a plastic board for the smaller lane. It's suitable for children 3 upwards and adults. So going to try that lane on our next visit. Staff are some what friendly , was a bit unorganised , but think they did have a party on , so that's probably why. Parking is free , does have a play park opposite and a small kids fair which runs in dry weather throughout the year.
A. C.
Great fun afternoon out but place does need a bit of an overhaul slopes etc are very dated but was great fun!
P. l.
We had great fun today sledging and on the donuts. Some great family fun time despite the rain!! Thank you Keith for the great briefing 😀
I. J.
In my fifties and never been on skis before, it could have been a challenge for a teacher to get me on the slope! The instructor I met at the centre was clear, positive, encouraging and gentle. I learned lots in an hour and feel confident enough to book more lessons. Great coach, positive teaching techniques and a very happy customer at the end one the one-to-one hour. I’ll be back 😊
F. C.
Very enjoyable experience and very polite and professional staff.
B. L.
Awesome place, all instructors were very friendly and keen to share their love of snow-based sports. Familiar enjoyed their donut ventures from what I could see.
I went skiing with my friend and her family, we had a thoroughly wonderful time because we had the slope to ourselves.
Dan was extremely professional and he was very good at targeting us with every downhill ski.
Fairly priced and well kept facilities.
We/I will return.
L.
Really really good. Kids did the donutting and had a blast. Almost wish I'd had a go. Little unorganized at the beginning but no big deal and it was very smooth once it started.
s. s.
I love this place! The facilities are great, the slopes are absolutely amazing- it has something for everyone. For example, the quarter pipe for tricks, the start ramp for race training, slalom, jumps, a middle slope for ringoes and intermediates, and a smaller slope for beginners! Alpine snow sports really is awesome and the people working there are lovely too 😀. If I could I would rate you guys a 20 out of 5 stars 🌟
N. J.
Great for a quick practice before heading off on the annual ski trip.
N. W.
Had a great laugh here with our 2 x teenagers, 1 hr on the Ringo's seems to last forever, good staff member is Kyle, very chatty and atentitive, really makes sure you're safe and he's happy to help with everything. Credit to the centre.
Will deffo go back.
E. J.
Had a lovely morning here with my 6 and 8 year old and their friends for their birthday. Suitable for boys and girls. Got a full hour of fun. Staff nice. Would recommend
C. B.
It's a plastic slope, so there will always be limitations, but they have recently renewed some of the surface and it wasn't too busy when we went
A. K.
Amazing staff, very helpful for the younger ones. My group ranged from 6 - 44 and all ended with a smile. Shame it was raining but made the slopes even more fun and fast. Thank you again
G. M.
Brilliant for kids and adults. Great price. Would recommend
P. H.
Great fun and very chill vibe, only thing is it is slightly hard to find within the park. Better guidance would be helpful!
N. B.
A beginner lesson. Very good. They liked after us really well.
D. T.
Very friendly dry slope. No sprinklers so surface can be dry in patches.
Donutting looks great fun for kids and adults.
H. H.
Love Kale he was absolutely brilliant, such a great lad definitely go here just to meet #bestieforlife ❤️❤️❤️
C. C.
USE THIS POSTCODE TO NAVIGATE: SO16 7QL and then drive up and around. Otherwise you'll be going round in circles if you follow the actual postcode or location.
A. P.
Visited with work, this venue is soon to be upgraded.
A. D. S.
Difficult tompark.but very nice
K. B.
The downhill donuts great for the kids.
M. C.
A nice facility to have in the area with a variety of activities available.
M. M.
We had our 9 year olds birthday party here - 12 kids donutting! They all had a great time. The food was good - typical kids party food, and served on time. The chalet was tidy and there was plenty of space. We'll be going back - donutting looks like fun and mum & dad want a go now 😃🤣
T. S.
The kids really enjoyed the Donuting despite the terrible weather.
As with most of the Active Nation properties it would benefit from some investment and modernising. There is limited space in the chalet and no undercover area to watch.
Great friendly staff though.
K. K.
What a great team at the ski slopes making it safe and fun. Thank you
N. C.
Went sledging here for a 5 year olds birthday party a fun time was had by all!! Also hired out an Alpine Lodge for a little bit of food and cake afterwards. The staff were helpful and friendly and even the adults has a go. We had great fun. We had one autistic child and one child with downes syndrome and both were looked after perfectly. Highly recommended!!
M.
We had an amazing time here doing the donuts, kids and adults had a blast. Great fun friendly staff will definitely be coming back here for another go. Would recommend this to anyone.
R. G.
Great facility with friendly staff.
Paid £39 for the adult 30 ski pass. Great to come and practice anytime, except HOWEVER remember the Saturday and Sunday times are for booked lessons only up until 1200.
J. S.
Both of my young sons (aged five and eight) have loved their “skids” sessions at Southampton Alpine Snow Sports. The staff are friendly and the ski centre building is well maintained. Don’t be put off as you pass through the sports park, especially the run down toilet block, the ski centre is a different world! We attended a few sessions before our ski holidays this year and last year and the Southampton Alpine Snow Sports staff got the boys up and skiing so they were ready to hit the piste when they arrived. Their instructor was Julie, who is fantastic, endless energy & patience. Both years she has been wonderful with the children, motivated them to achieve their best.
D. M.
My 8 year old has just had 4 days of the holiday sessions. Never been on skis or snowboard before. By end of day 4 he is doing parallel turns with huge smile on his face. He really loves this place and he singled out the coach Luke for 'lots of encouragement' and being 'cool'. All the other staff were very pleasant and you could tell they had a great raport with the kids. Good equipment but the slope did look a little tired.
one thing he would like improved on is a better ski lift that works with snowboards... he really struggled using a snowboard on the button lifts... others seemed to get on with it but this was his only gripe.
looking forward to coming back again
C. T.
Three short slopes the longest if which is well kept, the other two for beginners are a little worse for wear unfortunately. Staff were a bit hit or miss ranging from kind with a few helpful pointers to a less friendly staff I encountered on the way out. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO WEAR A HELMET! I find it bizarre that my friend had lessons here without being encouraged to wear one! Helmets are included in their pricing!
A. G. (.
Fab staff were friendly and welcoming
J. H.
My 6 year old great nephew thoroughly enjoyed himself on the Donut. Even tho it was pouring with rain. He can't wait to go again.
M. B.
Great fun I think the adults loved it more than the kids. Lol. Xx
J. D.
I had a 6 hours beginners course in skiing here. Our instructors was Trevor. Really fun day, really enjoyed. I definitely feel like I learnt a lot during the day and feel like we learnt a lot very quickly. I was first told the group size could be up to 12 and I was a little worried this might be big but fortunately there were only 6 of us. The course is set up really well and started off with basics of putting on skis and walking around in skis to then using the big main slope. I felt at times the instructor got a bit annoyed with us and could have a bit more patient and encouraged us to have more fun. It was definitely good fun and I learnt it a lot, would recommend to anyone who's looking to have lessons before going on holiday.
C. W.
My daughter came here for her Cubs Christmas Outing and participated in Donutting. They only have enough donuts for 30 people for they had to take turns. The safety speach was very thorough and all were fitted with helmets.
The only concern I had that there was only three young men ensuring that the kids were doing it all safely. (Two at the bottom where the kids get on the lift, and one at the top of the slope). Most of the time the two young men had a chat while some of the small kids struggled to get on with their donut in tow.
Maybe a suggestion for the centre for people that are watching (especially in winter) maybe some patio heaters!
M. K.
Great coaching on our sons 3 week introductory course
S. P.
Great place but a long walk from the car park.
m. h.
Relatively cheap for an hour or twos fun. Various slope grades with lifts. Great place to try skiing and snowboarding before setting off for the ski holiday. Lessons available too
O. M.
Great place to go for a practice before real snow and a good place to go after school activities
H. T.
A really great place to go skiing with gear included in the price. Could do with places for people to watch
S. W.
Looks good for a dry slope, wasn't open when I went there, still got to check it out. Do not follow your GPS. Directions you will be taken to a car park behind the slope, at the top.
M. A.
Looking a bot run down could do with a revamp
School kids had fun so that's all that matters
j. h.
Had snowboarding lessons with my partner. Staff are very friendly. Instructor was a great teacher friendly and a good laugh. Made the experience amazing.
R. A.
Great staff with reasonable gear and good pricing. Getting to ski in the UK = 😊
I. C.
Great fun enjoyed as much today as I did 30 + years ago
H. S.
Just did doughnutting with a group of friends and it was awesome. Great facilities, that I previously didn't know existed! Really friendly staff too. Highly recommended.
B. M.
We visited the snowsports centre for a 'ringo' session - sliding down the artificial ski slope on large rubber rings. The session was great fun with supervision from the centre staff. The activity requires a moderate level of physical fitness to walk up the slope but the ride down is great fun - I look forward to doing this again soon.
J. M.
Given it is a ski slope in the south of England, it's good! The facility is basic but for learning to ski or board, or for fun kids' activities it's great.
g. p.
Great fun, well run, caring and skilled team highly recommend.
J. D.
Great complex and brilliant high level facilities for large variety of sporting activities.
L. H.
Excellent group rates on donutting. Great fun for all ages. Staff were brilliant and made the experience fun.
D. T.
Tricky to find using Google Maps.
C. G.
Amazing staff really understand children with special needs. Help in every way.
Great way of raising funds for children in need. Thanks
D. S.
Old style surface.
Great instructors, but the surface you ski on (hexagonal style) hasn’t changed for decades. Newer surfaces have less of a chance of leaving you with injuries if you fall over. I won’t be going again, will prefer Calshot.
J. T.
Attentive staff. A great donuttting session for my son's 6th Birthday Party with his friends.
Thoroughly enjoyable occasion...
A. T.
Doughnuts/Ringos are great for an hours fun with the family.

Came here for my daughters birthday, there had been a mix up with my booking as we where suppose to be going to Aldershot, so we arrived 5 mins late as we couldn't find the carpark, we felt where we did park our vehicles wheren't safe or secure, staff not very welcoming or apologise for mix up, a very long walk and not well signposted for the slope ( considering my mum's not long out of hospital following brain surgery) and to top it all i was lead to believe we had the slope for our party ( maybe that was for Aldershot) and we where the last people on the slope and the 1st to be taken off. I didn't complain at the time as my daughter and all her friends did enjoy themselves.
R.
Super friendly staff, good size slope's
