Reviews of Jubilee Sports Centre
B. H.
Excellent pool, take my 30month old daughter swimming once a week, loves it.. £4.50 a adult and she goes free. Would recommend.. You do need to sign up tho unfortunately.
D. A.
Gets the job done.
To make it better please make it 24 hours or at least make extend it till 12 ….. living the life of a superstar and law student it’s hard to have my day and then get to the gym for before 10pm. Plus would probs solve the crowding issue a lil
R. D. (.
Lovely equipment and there is a well maintained pool too

Great, comfortable atmosphere :) However, often quite busy, expensive membership and some equipment is sometimes out of service
C. P.
Had to wait ten minutes to be allowed in for the aquafit class as there was only one member of staff.
J. H.
Good pool and good staff.
I like the pool here, it's well managed, and has half the pool setup with lanes for swimming with rotation marked.
Front desk staff and support by email is excellent.
It can be busy at peak times. There is a short walk from free parking 9-5pm, as parking on the uni grounds needs a permit. (after 5pm and weekends no problem).
T. M.
The staff are nice. Thats about where the good things end. There's 6 squat racks and around 8/9 olympic bars, along with bumper plates, but the space is very limited, there's no real designated sectioning so you get people walking 2ft in front of you right as you are about to lift the weight. The racks are also oddly positioned, some of them are far too close to eachother so sometimes you end up hitting the person next to you! There is far too much cardio equipment, these take up a lot of usable space.
If you know exactly what you're doing and when to go, you can make it work, especially because its conviently located on campus, but if not you might find yourself waiting too long for equipment and then having to wing your workout. Anyone who is really serious about powerlifting could probably get away with it, but if you're a weightlifter, bad luck, you can't drop the weights from overhead.
The saving grace is that you can book the basketball courts (and badminton) for free, but even that is difficult due to the competition of getting a slot
S. G.
Massive variety of offer very conveniently located around the city for University of Southampton students. The price can seem a lot if you only use one aspect, but if you want to use the gym and/or different sports it is a very competitive price. I bought membership to play basketball and use the gym, but have made the most out of what is included by going to fitness classes, swimming, playing badminton, netball and other sports, and regularly using the bouldering wall which was all included along with a lot more. Can be busy at the main site at times, but if you pick your moments or try other sites other than Jubilee then you can use the equipment in relative peace.

Great gym and swimming facilities
H. M.
Membership is very expensive and the pool can get really busy, especially at weekends. If you want to swim, make sure you pick up a timetable from the desk or check online first.
The pool itself is large and it’s nice to have a water fountain poolside. It’s convenient that you don’t have to use change for the lockers.
There’s a big temperature drop going from the showers to the changing rooms so you might want to take a towel poolside. There are also only 3 cubicles in the women’s changing room.
P. H.
Great sports centre with excellent swimming pool and well-being equipped gym. Although this the Southampton University's sports centre, I like that members of the public can join and the membership fee is competitive. The only issue is lack of parking, but that just encourages me to walk or cycle. It is also on a major bus route so all good really.
A. S.
Upstairs functional area and closeness to my workplace are the only good thing about this gym so far - only 2 old shower cubicles available!
I am yet to try the pool and the bouldering wall which sounds great
D. B.
It's an alright gym for the monthly price but always crowded so you have to come early to get something done properly. Also the 45min windows are barely enough for a proper workout.
N. B.
I use the swimming pool as a member of public (ie. not a student out staff member). I usually go in the morning. It can be busy but better then the local alternatives. For the lane swimming, there are three lanes open, with the other half left free. The fast lane typically has 3 to 4 people in it but sometimes more or less. Changing facilities are fine, and clean enough. I much prefer this pool over The Quays.
I. T.
The gym is well equipped but can get very crowded during the semester. Good swimming pool. There are courts you can book. Entrance is £6 if you don't have a membership.
A. D. R.
Terribly convenient if you work or study at the University. Adequate to break up your day, do sport and go back to work. The pool features a 25 m length and the gym is well served. The membership comes with lots of advantages, such as access to all the University facilities in Southampton. Keep fit, keep your mind healthy. There are also several clubs you can join.
S. H.
Very good swimming facilities. Unisex changing rooms with a shower in each changing cubicle.
W. W.
Plenty of activities available

Constantly plagued by technical issues both online and at the gym.
Facilities themselves are very good but frustration at issues makes it a 3/5.
A. B.
Good facilities. Sometimes quite busy, but that is to be expected for a university. Only annoyance I have is the squash court bookings are all done by email. They need a proper system to allow booking courts online.
J. I. B.
Very good gym facilities. Nice staff (besides 1 who let the team down) overall I highly recommend visiting

G. M.
Not bad, there're technogym's machines, but I haven't seen there good horisontal bars, needed for muscle-up... and other calisthenics exercises
V. P.
Gym of University of Southampton. It provides discount for students of Uni. Wide choice of equipment, also swimming pool inside and special sessions of fitness available. Disadvantages: mostly overcrowded in the evening, long queue of 4-5 people for one equipment, which could be not repaired for a long time.
J. P.
Amazing place and not just for students
A. A.
Great gym with almost everything but always too crowded for me to get to use the equipment I want.. But the gym is constantly improving itself and adding more and more stuff.. Would recommend at less busy times..
J. E.
Large number of gym classes available (including circuits, aquafit, spinning classes), and sports courts available for booking. Includes access to a bouldering wall and swimming pool. The gym itself is unsafe with broken equipment and serious overcrowding.
T. F.
They have reasonably good equipment, but some machines were out of order for literally months. Music too loud. Staff friendly.
P. H.
Amazing staff amazing facilities
N. N.
A nice Sport Center. Not overcrowded. A bit small and some machines are missing.
G. S.
It’s not a fancy gym, but it has almost everything you may ask for. The swimming pool changing are wasn’t very clean, but the classes are good.
M. L.
Great place and safe great swimming pool
S. C.
Good facilities. Pool is nice, but it's hard to know when is best to go as it is so full a lot of the time.
A. J.
Other than the occasional broken glass in the pool it's pretty decent
D. R.
The gym can get pretty busy and it sometimes takes ages for the machines to get repaired, but other than that it's great.
T. Y. T.
Reasonable price. For me the best swimming pool. Gym is also great but is generally full
A. C.
This will always be crowded as it's on campus. Decent facilities and staff. Have to watch out for collisions while swimming!
A. H.
Interesting. Kudos to all the staff working hard but not too sure about the covid version of the gym 😅
b. h.
Nice gym great selection and a swimming pool which is additional extra but overall very good
S. L.
Great facilities, amazing staff (especially that young 17 year old lad, he's amazing) awesome place to get fit and healthy.
C. T.
Lots of facilities with reasonable membership fees, but does get very crowded at peak hours, especially in the gym
J. B.
Very good service and equipment. Good covid restrictions put in place.
G. U.
Came here to swim. Had an accident and all of the staff were calm and professional and gave me first aid. Very impressed with the service here
G.
It has a reasonable variety of sports and facilities, but the gym is always full.
s. A.
Nice and well equipped gym and pool but always busy
W. W.
Plenty of activities available
C. R.
A well equipped gym offering a wide range of classes with in house physio. Ridiculously busy though.
S. R.
A nice clean environment where staff adhere to social distancing. I shall be returning again.
S. B.
Nice pool, cheaper than the council pools. Good range of kids classes too.
N. V.
Gets quite busy at peak hours, always seem to be very few staff floating around in the gym itself
A. R.
Equipped with latest work-out tools with added facility of swimming pool. If you're student, would advice for membership.
A.
Swimming pool is nice but I think you start feeling the cold way to early.
G. I.
good set up, relaxing the covid rules.
V. A.
friendly, welcoming, clean and supportive staff.
A. L.
Awesome facilities. A great place to try new sports and stay healthy.
H. B.
Clean gym but could do with more free weights
m. H.
Good but sometimes to busy and price of membership increased a lot.
A. D.
Terrible toilet facilities. Opening times could be longer. Some equipment has been out of order for almost a year...
