Reviews of Tesco Superstore
S. B.
Current layout is too cramped.
I used to like this store. You would enter and be welcomed with a nice open area, and plenty of wide aisles.
It currently looks like they’re rearranging to create a summer goods area or something, but in doing so they’re shuffled lots of aisles closer and randomly moved items into unusual places (you are now welcomed by the soup & tinned fish next to the fresh fruit!).
As much as I like the store, I really don’t like the tight aisles now so will be shopping elsewhere for a while.

The bakery service at this store is amazing. They have the best customer service skills. Ricky was so helpful in suppling us with rolls needed to support fund raising at Bedford River Festival. We will certainly be back ! Thanks
M. W. O.
Big Tesco store and living minutes walk away helps a huge amount. It stocks food, drinks, sweets, toiletries, clothes. It has a bakery, fish counter, pharmacy and a customer service desk that also serves cigarettes and lottery tickets; if you choose to use either of these. Self service checkouts help if you are in a rush or have picked up the habit of using them and the staffed checkouts are plentiful.

Like most supermarkets prices have risen, tesco is no different, you can get good offers on the club card scheme, but I do find a lot of products missing off the shelves these days. Other than it is what it is, a supermarket.
T. D.
It is what it is, I shop here because I live very close and its just easier. Never had a problem with tescos.

I had gone into Tescos with my family on Christmas eve and when we used the toilets we noticed that the ladys toilets where shut and the Urinals were flooded. That lost a star. The still had the disabled toilet open though for people. So, whilst walking through the door a member of staff was giving out chocolates to people and saying merry christmas to everyone that walked in. That earnes a star. Then, I asked a member of staff to guide me towards the newspaper 'The Sun' and he was very polite and he helped me find what I was looking for. That earned a star. Whilst we were paying for our items, another member of staff came over and helped us on the self checkout register and when she returned she came over with a box of Cadbury Selections for me and my sister. I genuinely think that I'm being harsh with 4 starts I would give it 4 and a half but unfortunately the toilets lost a star.

The store is always clean, shelf is full and staff are very friendly in this store whenever I go. Great to see a large store always full of stock when I shop.
They also do great range of products and I love the fact that they match most of items from Aldi prices which helps me save more money.
Just disappointed with all tesco stores I been to is the fact that some wear masks some don’t. It’s mandatory to wear a mask in store but they still let in people even if they don’t wear one.
C. M.
Not a big fan of the car park layout. It almost feels too long to get in and parked up and usually very busy. The few times I have been the petrol station has been shut, perhaps unlucky
J. M.
After finally getting a delivery slot we waited with some trepidation for it to arrive. (Our first time) Wow, everything we ordered, delivered in the time slot requested, in bags. They were unloaded at the front door by a very helpful cheery driver. To all concerned very well done.
S. H.
We have used the Click n collect service at the same time for the last two Tuesdays and I thought it was only correct to highlight the great service received on both visits, Having worked in retail for 25 years I know only too well how readily poor feed back comes along (often unnecessarily) and how often endless good service gets overlooked but in these very strange times it’s refreshing to see “Service with a smile” when staff are probably under pressure and no doubt concerned about being at work in the first place. I’m sorry I didn’t get the names of the lady who served me last week or indeed the equally nice lady who served me today whom I believe is a new recruit from the airline industry??? Well done all.

Cafe much improved since refurbishment at beginning of December 2018. Menus now have calories on them which is very helpful. Breakfasts are good value and freshly cooked. Store is a typical large tesco with pharmacy whose staff are particularly helpful.

Yesterday I visited Tesco to get my mobile mended, for which thanks Zain!
I checked out the £10 meal deal to find nothing for vegetarians and the Mushroom Stroganoff which would have been there (only the one meal compared to 5 or 6 for carnivores!) is not go4re protein and fats and if one doesn't like mushrooms, tough luck! Appalling!
A kind, young staff member fetched Hazel
a till/food manager, for me and she was SO kind and helpful and really went the extra mile! We ended up searching the shelves for decent veggie food not pretending to be meat! Impossible! Hazel devoted her time and energy to looking with me and then offered ne a Lentil Cottage Pie to try, my only option other than the ubiquitous Mac n Cheese! Such dedication to duty and patiient humour should be rewarded!
Raheem, Pui and Mark at the tills are always kind, efficient and helpful. Raheem was particularly so last night and what an interesting, polite and clever young man! Tesco should keep hold of such professionalism and ambition in one so young. Fabian was sweet enough to rush a d get me bags to help me. So thoughtful!
Thanks to all those staff who turned what started as a very bad experience with Tesco products ( and/or lack of them!! ) into a very positive shop! The Lentil Cottage Pie was yummy, by the way.
Tesco is not my favourite store for lots of reasons, but these people have made ' the difference '!!Particularly in these challenging times! These staff should be commensurately remunerated!!
All the best,
A grateful customer,
Maggie Constable

Shelves often empty, regardless of time of day.
Lucky if you can find a clean trolley, certainly one free of apple cores, banana skins or other fruit debris.
This store was great once but seems to be going downhill over the last 18 months or so.
M. S.
Everything I needed including adaptor for TV aerial.

Tonight, unusually Tesco didn't show up on time, very unusual. Usually you receive a text or phone call, but I had nothing. When I called up to enquire the service was very understanding and helpful, explaining to me that a driver didn't turn up and he did not report this to the local store. Is this excusable? Of course it is, this happens in all businesses at some point along the way. The customer service then called my local store to find out when I will receive my groceries. I then received a call a short while after (as they kindly didn't want to keep me on hold) from the manager of the local store to let me know it was on the way. Furthermore, when the delivery turned up the delivery driver was accompanied with the MANAGER!! Great service! They were both very apologetic and unpacked all the contents for me. All businesses suffer situations such as these that are unexpected and out their control but it's how they handle and approach the situation which shows the true colours of the business. 15 minutes after they left we still had our mouths to the floor in appreciation of the service we just received. Very impressed! On the back of this we will recommend this company to anyone!

Yesterday after completing my shopping I discovered my battery was flat. I approached Tesco staff and immediately was offered support. Two male and 1 female who kindly used her car to apply leads to my battery.
Thank you so much. You were wonderful and very professional. You are a credit to Tesco. Having shopped in this store since it opened I can honestly say the staff are brilliant and customer service alive and well. Well done guys xx
D. M. S.
Since my last review, the cafe is much quicker, and the service from the staff is great. 😁
T. B.
Easy to parking, nice friendly staff. Good choice of products at reasonable prices.
J. R.
They've got everything you could need here. Dentist, pharmacy, a newly refurbished café, a new travel money centre and that's just to start with.
This is my local branch of Tesco and most of the time, they have everything I need. Rarely, I need to go to the Cardington road extra store which 2 or so miles away.
They have recently closed some deli counters including fish, meats and cheese which might annoy people, but it doesn't affect me. They still have the cooked chicken counter however.
K. L.
I very stupidly left my bag in a trolley and returned for it 5 minutes later to see that it had gone. The lovely gentleman inside from security had said that it had been handed in by the person who looks after the trolleys and I could not have been more relieved! All of my belongings were still in the bag and it had been placed behind the desk at the customer service desk. Thank you so much to the staff at Tesco!
B. R.
Better than most supermarkets. Can normally get a parent and child parking place. Men's toilet on the other hand leave a lot be desired. Last time I was here there was a bucket under a urinal. Today 2. Floor was dirty see pic.
a. d.
Doing a great job at the moment under huge pressure, today [Sunday] the shelves were well stocked, given the unprecedented demand, and the tills fully manned. Well done to all the hard working staff
C. C.
Clean, tidy and not too busy. Very helpful staff
A. K.
This Tescos is a real community hub now as it has a dentist, pharmacy, cafe etc with loads of parking available. It's very popular and for good reason too. Some of the staff have a bad attitude but most of them are helpful and friendly.
L. E.
It has been my local for over 25 years and I am glad of it . Loving the music being played now, it really lifts my mood when shopping and something we all very much need at present. Thank you Tesco 😊.
B. D.
A good tesco, big but not too massive. Good flow with the inside layout. Nice 90s architectural style. Only downside is exiting the car park can be a bit tricky when busy.
A. D.
I really do not understand why as the "superstore" they have closed the meat , deli and fish counters.
They sold really good produce and better meat than Waitrose. Who will now unfortunately have my patronage.
Very disappointed.
D. C.
Almost everything a household could require for food and drink. useful dispensing pharmacy; kids clothes; kitchen paraphernalia; homeware etc
P. W.
Very well situated couldn't be any easier to get in and out friendly polite staff catering for prices and needs, Busy pharmacy to help with any problems and give advice. Pleasant restaurant cater for all your needs all in all makes a necessity a pleasure..
G. B.
Tesco is one of the Best supermarkets
M. N.
Tesco is Tesco all you would expect from a leading supermarket
L. R.
Great shop. Lovely staff. Food was ok in cafe. Although was only 1 person working in there,
(12.30pm ish on a weds), and was barely warm by the time we got it. More a staff to customer ratio issue than bad service. :)
Y. A.
First time used the pharmacy service where my surgery sent my prescription. Received a text informing me prescription ready for pick up. Picked up after work. Excellent service.
C. H.
The 3 stars is because they have recently changed all the store around and now I find it very frustrating trying to find things. They need to listen to the old saying, " If it's not broken, don't fix it"!! All right overall I suppose!
c. g.
Shelves frequently empty. Too many staff doing online shopping blocking aisles due to standing around talking. Moving things around store which is frustrating and makes me less inclined to shop. Veg sometimes not the best of quality.
D. C.
All was good. Currency exchange was closed and then a que so l left it for another day. At the checkout service was speedy and polite. A charming young lady under 18
L. B.
Thank you Dean the delivery driver from this store for outstanding service today 👍
L.
Update: This is probably the smartest move regarding the safety of customers
"Tesco asked that only one person from each household comes in-store to do their shopping".
It keeps individuals safe & ensures individuals who are shopping for vulnerable individuals are kept safe. I increased the stars based on the above information.
--
Move the cages out of customers paths as it's a health and safety hazzard (If your staff wish to have an old maids meeting in the isle maybe they should all take a break together), tell all visitors & staff to wear masks (your only as safe as your last test), enforce the entrance/exit policy which you have tried to put in place. Maybe try an be proactive by re-introducing the floor arrows, but make it part of the norm rather than a part time fix. Basically Dead customers don't shop at Tesco's unless your doing Tesco value cremations. Every little helps!
Customers: Do you, your partner and your children need to visit Tesco?
Do you have £4k to pay for your child's cremation should they catch covid-19 & pass away?
Are you able to cope as a single parent due to your partner passing away?
If any of the answers are no then protect your family.
Right now going to Tesco's or any other shop in Bedford shouldn't be a family day out, unless there is no other option.
"Luton is receiving ‘enhanced support’, while Preston, Swindon and Bedford were all listed as rising in the hotspot ranks."
From what I have seen so far in 3 weeks Bedford will manage to fail itself by achieving the number 1 to 2 spot on the watchlist. Which will result in a lockdown.
Remember, Tesco's is only responsible for the store your responsible for your family.
Wear the face mask correctly (not hanging off your nose), if you have symptoms of Covid-19 stay at home rather than going shopping with all of your family & putting others health at risk. Don't let your inability to make good choices and Tesco's lack of Covid-19 safety precautions be your child's or other customers problem.
Maybe all staff (yes, including managers) should ensure that they are wearing face masks (not shields) whether sitting behind a till shield or strolling around the aisles as some staff may be asymptomatic which means that they will not show any symptoms during your daily staff checks.

Good affordable products. Quite expensive but something to get on the day free time.
S. C.
Large branch of Tesco's supermarket with good parking and a good range of non-food items. Tesco Mobile, Pharmacy and Dentist plus a Cafe. Plenty of ATMs. Pretty good store and easy to get to on the east side of Bedford.
M.
Massive store. Lots of empty shelves.
B. M.
My Child loves the "Fruits for free"
Staff is helpful and friendly as well.
I only have to complain about missing products and sometimes I find the order of the range quite confusing and illogical.
