S. A.Really good superstore. Good collection of clothing items for kids although size availability can be improved. Good selection of Halal meat in line with the demographics of the locality.
M. J.A big massive supermarket with a massive stock of food items as well as household goods. Fresh bakery and Halal meat counter is also in the store which is very convenient for the local Muslim community. A fuel court is also situated at this store.
A. M.Price labels not shown... staff talk too much to each other... items too high on shelves and nothing or no one to help... nearly always no trolleys available
U. B.Local supermarket. Shelves are always stocked up. Staff are friendly and always ready to help and go the extra mile unlike the staff based at the Shirley store who seriously lack customer care skills, the managers in the Shirley store also need retraining on how to deliver a good customer service. Something they can learn from staff at the small heath store who are excellent at their role!
F. J.I went recently and trolleys were like gold dust. I asked the security guard who told me it's because a whole bunch had been stolen. STOLEN. Small heath really is becoming a ghetto. The store does its best but it's obvious standards are slipping and the staff seem to think it's ok to stand around and have conversations about their weekends now which is a shame and very unprofessional. Our fix is to order our grocery order online wherever we can. The drivers are always friendly and it saves a lot of hassle.

The parking facilities are really fantastic.

A. M.I only visit this store for specific items that I can't get from my local stores. They have a very large selection of goods and you can visit this store as a one stop shop as they have clothes, shoes, meat counter, bakery as well as the general foods that most supermarket have. The store is relatively more expensive than some of the other stores but can save you a lot of time shopping around

S. F.Always shop here for my weekly shopping. Most of the women on the tills are pleasant, however there have been a couple of occasions when the tills have been closed and had to use self service. Dont like them and do employees realise they are replacing people. I had to call the staff member over 5 times with problems. I felt so hot and bothered and panicky. Not a good way to start the day

S. 1.Visited mainly for fuel and some car snacks and soon realised that the traffic was awful. As you come out of the petrol station you have an option to bare left or bare right...that being said it's next to impossible when the traffic coming out of asda is piling up and you're blocking the exit for those that wish to bare left. The lights either weren't working that day or were WAY too slow for the format of Asdas exit.

M.Always quite crowded especially on a weekend Sunday is probably the worst day for crowds, often has low stock on certain items especially around religious holidays and events, staff are miserable most the time and it's not a very welcoming store, good points they have halal butcher inside and are a very big store

There are lots of beggars/homeless in the car park which is sad to see but Birmingham generally has seen a rise in homelessness. Perhaps Asda can help at least with providing food.

F. B.I was very surprised to see a staff member using a shopping trolley to go around the car park emptying the bin stations into. Some of the plastic bags were leaking and disgusting. I am used to seeing stores use their own wheeled bins with brooms etc. The store itself was fine.

J. M.This is a great place to go when you need a lot of different things in one place. The lovely thing about this store, in particular is it's cosmopolitan selections. I generally go there if I want diverse stuffs like rose water, cheap duvet and bedwear, shoes, underwear, photo frames, and "personalised birthday cake" - all in one shop. Saves time, for quickness when time is short and there's a lot of different things to get at once. That includes Asian food stuffs you can't get in other supermarkets. Don't say I don't give you a good tip.👍.
M. A.I don't usually review supermarket experiences. But today a very helpful young man by the name of Kamran on the customer checkout was very pleasant. Considering there was a few tills open, even though it was very busy he was still professional.

p. l.Managers should consider that they grow businesses on costumers back. If I go back with something bought few days behind that it's expired for almost one month, you don't pretend that everything it's ok and give me 5£ gift card for my "good will" . At least pretend that you feel sorry for what happened. Don't be proud for yourself that you quickly got rid of another one. It's not everything about the money. Care more about your costumers. We keep moving the business that you manage. No comment about customer service ( professional) . Store itself it's ok. I'm still gonna do shopping there. Very disappointed
Y. K.I visited this Asda for a few items. They have a one way system for entering/exiting store due to Covid, a staff member giving out face mask to those who forgot and sanitiser station. Good size car park with Asda petrol station on site. The store is large stocking George cloths lines, pharmacy, optician, magazines, paper books, cards etc. Staff are friendly and helpful and price are decent.
O. K.Small Heath Asda is a one of the biggest busiest supermarket branch in Europe. Staff are friendly. People can get all the items from one place. Staff are friendly. Nice and clean store. Highly recommended.

Z. A.Always have been my favourite place to shop and specially if you want to buy good meat on decent price then haji baba halal meat inside asda small heath is the best meat you can find in Birmingham.
I use to live only 3 minds away from asda so I use to go there for meat but my cousins lived around 25 mins drive from there but they still came to asda small heath just to buy haji baba's meat from this asda. That's how much they love it as well.
Apart from that nearly every thing that you might need for living is available so it's always great to go there.
1 thing I must mention is that most of the staff is really good and Friendly.
a.Popped in for a change of clothes for my son. They have a massive George section with great varierty of clothing. Staff overall very polite and pleasant.

H.Cashiers are very helpful - they wait for me to load most of my shopping onto the conveyer before starting to scan it and they also give me time to pack it so it doesn't all pile up. I usually get a trolley full so I really appreciate it.
However, stock levels have always been an issue here and I'm talking as far back as 5 years so the recent pandemic/brexit isn't the main issue here.
Not blaming solely the staff - but quite a few of them seem to stand around passing the time of day with one another, whilst shelves remain empty.
Also I find it quite alarming that staff seem to stand around whilst collecting items for the online orders talking to one another blocking customers routes to shelves/aisles with themselves and their black trolleys. Not good enough given the current pandemic. I'm not sayin don't talk etc but when it gets in other people's way then its time to stop.
Thankful that ASDA provide anti bacterial products free of charge to use on the trolleys/ baskets and sanitisers.
B.Go often to get the shopping. Ordered online to collect once, was a bit hard to find the collection point and they said one of my items were out of stock but went inside and found the item.

Theres also cash point machines and wheelchair accessible entrance and exit

O. A.Prices are generally one of the lowest in the region... Entry and exit can be a bit of a problem as next to a very busy Asda... There is a 24 hours lane where you can play by card and for the rest you pay while driving out as they have toll collecting style payment kiosks...
There is also a small area for parking after payment where you can inflate tires and use pressure for jet clean...

S.Its okay but no social distancing in place inside. It's always really busy whenever I have gone in but I rarely shop here now prefer Aldi or Morrisons

H. Y.Not keen on this place to be honest. Asda in general isn't the supermarket it used to be since Aldi and lidl have become to much better. Other shops like poundland/b&m/home bargains always have a lot of stuff cheaper than asda too. And if its more exotic and varied stuff you're after, I recommend Tesco instead.
Now this asda in particular is very large and has a good selection of George stuff and good on site parking. However there are a few negatives. The car park is a big one way system with a combined exit with the petrol station onto a busy road so there are often queues to leave especially on a weekend. Don't even bother shopping there on a Sunday afternoon unless you want to spend half a hour queueing to leave the car park.
Then there are the issues with staff attitudes. I have had problems with collecting online orders and very unhelpful staff when there were issues and delays, which I then reported online and was compensated for the inconvenience. The store staff did not so much as apologise for the problems and were quite dismissive and curt in attitude, even the manager.
We once also had a problem where we lost a wallet in the petrol station and had to spend a lot of time running back and forth to get any staff member to take the problem seriously enough to help us. Then they were unable to check cctv and eventually we left with no way of finding out who had taken the wallet even though we were certain it had been dropped on site and then another customer had stolen it after us. The staff were uninterested in what amounts to a crime on their premises.
Also generally the clothing section is always a mess and there are always products not stocked on the shelves which is annoying. Overall, go here at your own risk.

S. r.Till staff are very polite and friendly, staff around the store do seem to talk to one another, but as soon as they're approached they're more than happy to help. Nine times out of ten, the clothing aisle isn't merchandised very well and it seems to be very untidy. Halal fresh meat is competitively priced.

Almost everything is available however, please keep an eye some items can be expensive than other stores such as tissues and other items. One can get maximum benefit if buy while considering prices. Asda own range of products are much cheaper so consider buying them. I would consider Asda over Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrison's. Happy Buying :)
T. H.Phoned asda customer service today to inquire about the elderly and vulnerable shopping slots before 9am,
My question was if both of my parents are old and unable to make the journey to asda can a family member go and shop on there behalf during the special times.
The answer I recieved was it's up to the asda staff's discretion to accept entry .
I asked would it help if I bought some evidence with me blue badge,trustee letter ,she could not answer and I was put through to the small heath store to get further information. Waited for someone to answer the phone and the answer machine recording stated they are very busy and unable to take this call.
In this unprecedented times I feel sorry for the elderly and vulnerable people.

B. G.Mixed reviews on this. The good thing is that there's all you would usually expect from a large supermarket of this size. The bad things are that it doesn't feel as clean or well organised as other nearby supermarkets, and some of the staff aren't as professional in their manner as you'd expect. Overall, it's not the best but it does the job.
H.Always stocked, great range of fruit and veg available all year round and friendly staff. Car park seems to attract some dodgy folk but otherwise a great, reliable supermarket.
M. N.Went to look at mens trousers in George section. None to be found. Was told by staff that the delivery for new stock was coming in the next few days. Not good enough. A large store of this size should be well stocked.

M. U.This Asda is one of the big ones in Birmingham, which mean you have a huge selection of choices.
However a lot of the time most wanted products goes out of the stock for the day, but it comes back in stock on the following delivery.
Staffs usually helpful and hardworking, constantly keeping your things in the right place.
But sometimes I found it still difficult with so much stockpiled up on the isles which definitely doesn't make your shopping smooth.
On the other hand shoppers usually, leave things messy of which I yet font know why?
For example today I was looking for large free-range eggs and only found two pack left as for last, next to this was medium free-range eggs in stock but it was a huge mess and I had no idea why?
Anyway, I believe when you see the store is in the mess its to blame shoppers, not the actual staffs who work there.
If I ever had any issue, customer service desk always was able to sort me out.
Shopping in this branch for the last 12 years and still going.

C. M.My husband and myself normally come nearly every Saturday evening for bits for the week and some pizzas from the counter for us and the kids. Every week Charlotte at the pizza counter gives us a wave, we have a chat and she makes the order. She takes the time to ask about our week whilst making them perfectly! She deserves a 5 star rating, she’s always friendly and helpful and does a good job 🤗

A. A.Good & Bad at the same time - Some of the staff is really good and since it is near to where I live, I prefer going there. However, today, I had to wait for very long for someone to give me pizza base. Then a guy came from the backside, and said plainly, you will have to wait two minutes whilst doing some random some. He then did something on the hand held devices and packed me the pizza base.
He did this without gloves and without even washing hands.
I complained to the floor manager or customer manager. he said that they are not supposed to wear gloves and that is actually more unhygienic ... but, he admitted that he should have washed the hands at least ........... i said, i don't feel like coming here again and he didn't seemed too bothered to make the things right ..... well, maybe he was from inside but I didn't felt that .... so in summary, it is a reasonable place to shop with some good staff but remember lower price means a big compromise on the quality

J. S.Difficult access, parking and traffic can often be an issue. The store itself on my various visits always seems terribly busy and the store layout especially at the front is poor. Aside from the negatives the store is a larger one and well stocked so deserving of the three stars.

J. C.Generally good helpful staff attitude, particularly pleasant at the pharmacy. BUT store also generally looks like earthquake hit it, stuff on shelves and on the floor and untidy. I blame some of the customers as they have total disregard and will put stuff back onto wrong shelves! I find frozen stuff in the shampoo aisle! Lazy or what! If you don't want it just hand it to staff at desk or tills! Also the parents don't mind their kids as I see them eating food from shelves and putting it back on the shelves ! Once I saw a couple of boys playing football with a ball of the shelves! Jeez ! It's not a buffet funfair for wannabe Renaldos ! I give 4 stars rating for the staff and 2 stars rating for the customers!

D. R.Best time to shop at the store is in weekdays and early in the morning/late evenings (around 5pm onwards) in weekends. Asda has the best value of the 'big 4' supermarkets and regularly restocks their products better than other stores such as the Morrisons on the other side of Small Heath. Their customer service is OK at the times specified above but struggle when it gets very busy (mainly afternoons).
Edit - Updated and removed 1 star because the staff are not very helpful. It bad but doesn't get to Morrisons Small Heath levels of bad.
