Reviews of Bullring Open Market
p. o.
Can get some great deals from chilly Billy on the corner of the rag market they also have a stall in the open market selling cheese and the best eggs around. For the best Fruit go and see emmon. Birmingham council have just let the area down
H. C. M. A.
This a superb place to grab a bargain from an outdoor market. You can up all the he seasonal fruit and vegetables for fraction of a price compared to supermarket. Bring lot of decent carrier bags. The trade is low due COVID but I'm sure it will pickup. Next to this market is the world famous indoors Rag Market and the iconic St Martin's Church as well as the Bull Ring Shopping centre. All this is very central and extremely close to the public transport including New St Station and Moor St Station.
D. F.
Perhaps, that is the only place in Birmingham where I can buy some fresh fruits and vegetables. I appreciate this shop really much and come there at least once in a week. Cool products, cool staff, love this shop.
E. H.
Went for our annual turkey hunt, one of the very few places that still sell Halaal turkeys at non-extortionate prices. Some stalls will still try it on with you, making up prices as they go along, but don't rush into it, it's a market, there are deals to be had. Shop around until you get to know the general prices around the market, there always one merchant looking to make a deal of the day. That being said, the market has shrunk over the years and Covid has not been kind to traders. A lot of the stalls have reduced their range of offers so if you're savvy in the gab, you can use that to your advantage.

It's been quite a while since I've been down to The Bull Ring and
Rag market.
It's changed a lot in the last 12 months.
Now they tell it's moving perhaps for the best we'll see ..
Y. Z.
Ok as markets go. Haven't been to one for ages. It was quite cold and wet. So in a hurry to get out the cold. Good for bargains though
C. H.
Love going to the open market at least once a week for all my fruit and veg much better deals than the supermarkets and I think fresher too
All fruit and veg in a bowl £1 each or if like me you go later and can get 2 bowls for £1.50
Vast variety of cheese, eggs and breads as well as any fruit and veg you can think of
Excuse the photographs I was trying out a 1960s film camera at the time
M. H.
Nice place . fresh vegetable market everything is fresh and for good price. Sharp cheese you must try this one if you will visit this market
S.
This remind me of some decades ago when supermarkets were less intrusive then they are now, and people went to market and enjoyed the sounds of hustle and bustle of market traders and prople inter connecting.
You can expect to get decent fresh quality fruit and veg on a daily basis here, and at a fair price.
There must be over a 100 stall traders selling pretty much everything you can get from your local supermarket shelf but fresher and from the direct wholesalers.
If you need it fresh, this is defo the place
J. S. A.
A bustling market full of fresh produce in the heart of the city.
This is the best place to buy your fruit and veg, great variety and really good value. Use it or lose it.
T. L.
I always like shopping here,I enjoy the open air fruit market and the cafe in the middle for a good fish and chips
P. R.
Best place to buy freshm. Choose your vendor wisely as some of them mix good and rotten food in pre- filled baskets.
T. C.
Brilliant especially for fruit and vegetables excellent value £1 for a large bowl of anything. We use the train to get there New street is not to far an easy walk
a. R.
Will always enjoy going to the open market. The vendors are pretty decent, it can feel kind of crowded cause of all the bus stops but it's not too bad on the other side. They sell a range of produce and products so you'll probably find what you're looking for.
M. A.
Have you ever wondered what role this place plays in the health of your body and the health of your soul? A place with hardworking and fair people. Whatever Sama wants and you can find.
a. l.
Always good deals in fruits and vegetables, shame it's not open longer on a weekday... I'm not able to go due to work
F. M.
Bullring Fish Market. Nice and affordable fish and all sea foods. You can get halal meat and chicken too.
M. B.
Birmingham City Council has destroyed the once blooming markets and its surroundings. It looks dead on some days ,abandoned stalls ,no people . The market has still some benefit ,but in comparison how it was times ago ,it is so sad.
J. P.
The Christmas Markets, are something never to be missed. Great way to start enjoying Christmas and getting into the spirit.
A. C.
I got a huge bowl of fresh raspberries for £1. Twice the size I bought at the grocery shop for nearly 3. Wide variety of fresh fruit and veg with the occasional fabric, cell phone accessory and plant stalls added in. Today I saw a stall with eggs as well.
u. a.
Beautiful place to shop. Lots of fresh food and fruits
J. B.
A good shopping center with plenty to do lots of excellent shops. Only bad thing is gets too busy some times.
l. f.
It's like a new experience every time I go there. I always but something new and I come whit a smile..
S. H.
Love this fab place ! Everything you could want , with proper service and eye contact !
K. B.
Still has that very strong fish smell couldn't wait to get out
S. M.
Good quality fruit and veg reasonably priced
S. B.
Such an amazing selection of fruit and veg, well priced street food stalls too. Lovely atmosphere.
M.
Even though we are currently in a lockdown, the Market was great, and food supply on stools fresh.
b. s.
Got a nice feel for the markets that use to be around prior to superstores and malls
N.
I liked it. But they don't open on Mondays and Wednesdays. Best time to go is when they are about to close. You get stuff cheaper
A. W.
Where my heart belongs! I had not been for some time, pre covid😢the people and vibes were just as was, perhaps not so many, but fantastic. Lovely to see Chilly Billy's still going! Un sure about car parking?
N. A.
A lots of bargain specially for vegs and fruits. I got 4 pcs sweet mango only £1
M. R.
It's a shame I live over 50 miles away as it's cracking value for money and the traders are top notch
E. A.
You can get even more bargain on the perishable foods when you go in the evening just before they close
Z. 8.
Business as is usual without Government's Constraints
C. A.
Very affordable place. There is a local market feeling to it.
C. F. n.
Fruits and vegetables are everywhere! Although small birds do fly around and eat the called food the prices are perfect for the amount that you get . Depending on what time you visit prices may vary; for example if you visit later in the day you may get 3 bowls of fruit or veggies for £1.
B.
Good to see an open air market thriving in this day and age. Great to hear the banter of the market traders.
G. G.
Abit biased as I'm a Brummie and used to go here with my grandma but love everything about it, please don't take it away.
E. N.
Lovely shopping experience. Easily accessible. Different shops selling various types of goods in close proximity to each other.... What's not to like? I actually travel from London to Birmingham just to do my shopping.
N. I.
Very cheap. You can buy of two bowls only 1.50 pounds
N.
Fruit is good price cheaper than normal shops and does last long
J. P.
Cheap, fresh, tasty produce. Most busy on Fri-Sun when there are a lot of vendors who set up store.
P. M.
Pride of Birmingham. The best open market in the West Midlands.
D. C.
Lots of fruit and matirial stalls, found what we wanted. Very crowded though
D. U.
Would be better with less alcoholic and beggers. But it's a brilliant place for a deal.
J. M.
Great shopping experience lots of choice
A. D.
Market is awesome. But government must restrict the use of polythin.
P. M.
Love going to the market and we go have lunch ,fish chip's and curry sauce wicked
S. w.
Market is great as its so cheap for fruit and veg and there's quite a variety, however I rarely visit due to the way some of the stall sales people behave. On more than one occasion when trying to shop I've been harassed by some of the male sales people shouting suggestive remarks, which have made me so uncomfortable and resulted in me shopping at the front stalls to avoid this.
J. M.
Plenty of choice of fruit an veg get most fruit also international and continental fruit and vegetables
I. k. T.
It's very nice buying fruits
S. A. S.
It's okay we buy some times from it the fruits and vegetables are good
A. K. B.
I've been open market lots time you get fresh fruit, vegetables and lots of extra stuff you can buy near by clothes to mobile meat, fish and household stuff, as well. All the major shopping brands near by church bus stops metro to travel around.
M. T.
The market has changed since I was there. The atmosphere has lost that welcoming feeling. However for a shopping experience it's still in small amounts.
M. M.
Really nice fresh fruit n veg n many more things...
J. W.
Brilliant for fresh fruit and veg
B. K.
Wonderful for fresh fruit and Veg at half the shop price
C. H.
Convenient for me to get my fruit and vegetables also Savers is handy for many items that you need. Number 50 bus is regular too and from the city centre. So go and enjoy a day out in the Bull ring 😊
F. Q.
Great prices , fresh fruit veg , clothes and a lot more.
S. H.
I like going to Bullring Open Market and the in Door Market.Loads of people come from all over, by car or by coach in to Digbeth coach station. and to Birmingham itself.
W. Q. T.
Prices are fine I guess.
The strawberries was a bit squashed
B. S.
I love the market, it's way better than the shops. I can get my fruits and vegetables for cheap here.
Also, if you go in the evening before they close up you can get 2 bowls of fruits for a pound.
R. R.
Our go to for fresh produce, the vendors have great varieties of fruits and veggies to offer, esp the Indian/South Asian stuff.
S. F.
Less stalls due to distancing 😊 but plenty of choices of fresh vegetables , fruit and good value for money. Worth a visit, but remember to keep your distance. Happy shopping.😊😊
T. S.
Good market for fruit and vegetables ,some stalls selling fabrics , dressmaking perhaps curtains ,less stalls post covid .Ps If you want fabrics for furnishings and curtains try the indoor market adjacent is better .
R. M.
Fruit gallor....good quality produce,market atmosphere
S. A. n.
Not too busy , great selection fruit , veg, eggs of all types ,cheese and yogurt, fantastic prices.
Can pop to fish, meat and game market next door amazing multinational array of goods

L. W.
Lots of fresh food very tasty
M. A.
Yes fresh fruits and vegetables and many more too many to mention, great place and the price is very reasonable it is such a great place to get your healthy stuffs, I love it!
S. M.
Always love the hustle and bustle of the Outdoor Market. Perfect place to visit to pick up those fruit and veg bargains. Big tip: try not to over buy!
N.
I always love coming here! Amazing fruit and veg! Good deals!
M. A.
Should focus on hygiene coz vegetables and fruits section was not of clean and tidy environment. May be its clean in other times but when I visited it, it was not.
s. m.
Great place,all walks of life
O. T.
Stuff here is cheap. Also it is bustling. Gotta go early to get the better produce. No point complaining if you don't. Its not very clean. Essentially depends on who you are. If you want to pay extra go to a store. Over here all you can do is avail whats offered and you have to compete for the good stuff. I always liked this place. Sometimes i just like to perch somewhere and enjoy the unchanging nature of the place with the masses going about their business.
n. P.
2 bowls £1.50 is what you may hear chanting around this brilliant market so much diversity in cultures amazing atmosphere so much lovely fresh fruit and veg excellent prices if you have many mouths to feed then here is the place to shop. Exotics everywhere I love this market shop here regular Tuesday Thursday's Friday and Saturday are best days to visit many stalls aren't opened on the days inbetween
N. P.
This is one of the best markets for fruit and veg and herbs. I highly recommend it as most of the produce is fresh. Not only you will be saving a lot of money but the quantities are great. If you continue on to the indoor market you will find great bargains on anything you can think of from fabric to jewelry to tools to cloths, phone repairs and the list goes on . We continue to the meat and fish market where you can get great protein and fish at great prices of quality quantities . Service is friendly and its a good day for shopping for the the house.
J. M.
Love this place, best Vegis and fruits in Bham
S. C.
It was a lovely safe place to shop with it being outdoors and reduced footfall. Traders helpful and cheerful. Got lots of bargains.found a very cheap outdoor safe car park. A good experience.
L. D.
Love this place , definitely worth a visit
G. C.
Good variety of fresh produce. Meat; fish; fruit and vegetables. Also clothing, cards, hardware and haberdashery.
H. K.
lovely market, I always find something interesting I didn't originally plan to buy
S. A.
Cheap but low quality fruits n veg. Fruits are not that tasty as from other shops. Check yourself n see the difrence.
j. J.
Everything you need for fruit and veg and 2 fast food vans
S. F.
Fantastic place to go , suggest go during the week it's not as busy as the weekends , great selection of fruit and veg, Top Tip have a walk round first some bowls are better value than others . All bowls are £1
D. H.
Good selection of market stalls very good prices
C. J.
Just moved to Birmingham and had no idea it was there, saw it on the bus, came back 20 minutes later loads of variety! Amazing. Just remember to take a bag or you get lots of plastic
C. S.
The fruits and vegetables here are very cheap, a pound per bowl more often than not. There's also a milk vendor who appears on Tuesdays selling plant based alternatives in addition to dairy. The only down side is the fruits don't have a long shelf life, so take steps to preserve them when you get home.
A. J.
Nice Vegetables at reduced prices. At times you have to check them out properly, rles you get Vegetables that are not too fresh and would go off, if you don't use them on time. It's just a natural way, with all Vegetables going off with too much exposure to Sun/light.
B. C.
Lots of fruits and vegetables some of it is good some is beginning to go bad you have to really look at it even though they don't really want to do that.
m. r.
Lovly place and awsome experiance
a. h.
Both indoor and outdoor markets have a range of different stalls with good value items for sale. The market police and inspectors are always patrolling about to ensure the fruit and veg are up to standard so you don't get ripped off. The cleaners are cleaning the market all the time. All in all nice place.
M. J. A.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are very cheap as compared to super market chains. It's not very clean and fancy like super markets but we should encourage and support these hardworking individuals!
N. J.
Great prices on fruit, veg and fabric. Lot of stuff in £1 bowls. Some of traders xanbea bit moody but majority are good
D. D.
Great fruit and veg with less plastic packaging at good prices. Just take your own bags
S. T.
Fresh fruit and veg are at the stalls that DONT use the one pound bowl of stuff. You are able to pick and choose with them although they are a few pennies dearer. Well worth it!
D. C.
Always some good value to be had in the way of fruit n veg and even cheese. Some of the more exotic fruit n veg available here to suit the great mix of Birmingham tastes. Many stall holders use the 'any bowl for a £1' method with content quantity dictated by the market price at time.
A. B.
Two bowls one pound, three bowls one pound 😁😁😁
e.
Great little market if you're into that sort of shopping experience. Dig deeper into the inner stalls for fresher and cheaper produce and maybe learn a bit about selecting fruit+veg before you go.
Usually every bowl is a pound, but there's regular offers like any two/three for a pound, especially later in the market day.
l. b.
Been shopping here & at the Original since I was a little nipper
L. E. G. A.
Always good roices and friendly people.
S. A.
OK this is one of the best markets around. But be mindful if buying fruit out of a bowl. The fruit won't last as long as fruit from supermarkets that being said you can on occasions get great bargains buying fruit sold in a bowl. Blueberries. BlackBerry and strawberries. Inside you will find a while array of stalls. My favorite is the retro clothing stall. The guy is brilliant and helps you loafs and has great knowledge of brands and what's fashionable now. His name is Nadeem. Go check out Birmingham's markets people.
E. -. A. O. A.
Amazing as always. very wide Greenfield with lots n lots of games and fun things to do for both adult and kids.
S. D.
A fantastic market with lots of fresh produce at very good prices. If you're able to make use of this market to do your food shop it's worth it; you'll get far more fresh food for your money than you would at a supermarket.
J. T.
Lots of different things to browse around
N. S.
It is safe. I spotted some security personnel and also the toilets were clean.
Not many places have toilets open.
J. S.
5/5 place to buy cheese, bread, houmous, bags and fresh produce at amazing value great quality. Next door to the indoor market to buy fresh fish and meat
J.
Good market overall, sometimes bought not so good produce but that happens due to weather, as even supermarkets sometimes sell fruit and veg that don’t last. Overall good market though.
m. c.
Lots of stalls selling a great range of food
T. D.
Will get fresh vegetables and fruits for cheaper price. Quality of the items are good.
D. S. S.
It was good and so many things available all around
R.
Fruits and vegetables sold at very reasonable price. Mostly sold in bowls @£1 and also available in loose. Better visit before noon for fresh veg & fruits.
I. A.
Awesome place to buy fruits and vegetables!
S. T.
Available all kind of fruits and veggies. Price is low but the freshness and quality of fruits and veggies are not up to the mark.
If you don't check the items properly, you will end buying decayed items
L. S.
Vegetables are always not fresh. Sometimes they are cheaper than supermarkets.. .they are priced at 1£ per bowl/portion of vegetables. But as the portions are selected by the vendor, u might end up buying some really spoilt veggies along woth some good ones. U get good deals in the evenings around closing time. Too crowded on saturdays.
C.
It's really normal place
陳.
Worth recommending: tourist attractions worth visiting: diversified shops. 100% satisfied with personal recommendation
M. R.
Well priced produce, but I recommend going on a weekday, because it gets suuuper crowded on weekends
I. D.
You want fruit and veg it's the place to be but make sure you inspect the stuff you are buying once you have them at home if they are not up to the correct standard it is to late to take them back but you can always complain the next time you go as it is normally the same vendors who are there
B. B.
You can negotiate price of fresh fruits and vegetables. Buy a bulk in better price than at store. Realy noisy before closeing time.
R. G.
A good place to buy fruit and vegetables from all over the world. Cheese, and eggs of various types. Good range of. Fabric's of different kinds , kitchen ware.etc. A great place to much.
M. C.
Coming back to life post Covid. Seems better organised now
C. D.
Never a dull moment 10/10
o. o.
Open market to shop for relatively cheap food items and other things.Very good for students
D. O.
Not as popular since covid
S. Z. K.
Fun and crazy place for buying vegetables, fruits, eggs and cheese. It's crowded, bustling with shouting vendors and shoppers. I like the concept of one pound a bowl.
A.
Not what it once was. Most stalls have identical stock, often on or beyond going off. Does not duggest even a future basis of a quality food market such as available in so many towns and smaller cities across the country. Has virtue that produce is correspondingly cheap, but you may have to get it home quickly so as not to have to dispense with a lot of it.
The Indoor and Rag markets have born up somewhat better, but are also getting tired and patchy, needing their own radical boost if not to let down the development of the area.
In recent years Wolverhampton has virtually list i's once excellent and varied markets. Coventry has kept up the good work, however, with its indoor market being a positive pleasure to visit, not just for itself but for the compatible shops that cluster around it and offer good quality goods and the market fare of attractive price and quality.
Proposed redevelopment of Birmingham's Market area has the implication that the present market has to face up to a radical and imaginative overhaul in the way it is conceived and managed.
Wolverhampton and Coventry offer starkly contrasting visions of alternative futures...
M. H.
Great shopping mall
J. b.
Some stalls sell fruits, veggies, outfits, foodwears etc it operates from Tuesday to Saturday, & from 9 am to 4pm-5pm. at 4pm they start selling some fruits & veggies on discount. Not far away from the Birmingham new street.
p. h.
Quiet and Sad!
Birmingham City Council Gentrification has destroyed businesses. Working class been forced to stay in their backyards.
A. H.
Always a pleasure. Just love it 😀
R. M.
If you have a good eye for produce, and know how to navigate a crowd you can easily score some great deals on high quality foodstuffs, but it may be a challenge for those unable to deal with large and very loud crowds.
S. G.
Vibrant and busy even on a wet and windy Tuesday. Got everything I wanted. Highly recommended for the diversity of cultural products and good value.
5.
Depending on the time and who you decide to buy from, experience can change. But fresh fruit and veg is always cheap so that's a great plus!
L. H.
Love getting all my fresh fruit and veg here. Great prices esp for how much you get compared to shops
e. j.
Busy but neat.
1.
Great for family shopping
T. R.
Brilliant, great range on fruit and vegetables.
Go on a Saturday after 3pm and you get 3 bowls of fruit or veg mix and match for £2.
D. K.
Cheap cheap cheap buying u will get everything for 1gbp . And quality is also good . Check online before as not open everyday
F. M.
Cheapest price for fresh vegetables and fruits. I liked
G. T.
Food at the market as dropped in quality in the last few years, the fruit in particular, if it's not eaten in 2 days it goes rotten. Plus lot of food out of date
J. B.
Brilliant place to shop, everything is there from a to z ❤❤😃👈👏👍
M. R. M.

r. t.
Wonderful place full of Bargains but right now needs public support
S. B.
Can get sweet fruit for cheap
C. C.
The variety of fresh fruit and vegetables is remarkable. However, be careful not to pick and choose your own produce, let the stall owner serve you.
M. A.
Love the open market! The sights, the smells the sounds!! It does get very busy but the produce is amazing, great value to!
M. F.
Decent place to have good bargains.
Z. M.
Best time to go is around 5pm, can get anything for at least half price. Quality of fruits not that good but it justify the price.
M. J.
This place is alive and kicking. Amazing place to shop for your fruit and veg. Also a fish market here with a lot of organic items. Fresh.

Hit and miss for things you find, as long as you have good bargaining skills you should be fine, it gets crowded easily too. Wish there was better parking
A. P.
Good place to get fruit and veg and not pay high prices you can also get cooking foil and cooking utensils at cut prices compared to other places.

Good place to buy fruit and vegetables
