Cafe itself needs a revamp. It's clearly popular and the food was nice and a good price too but the area to pay has the menu sellotaped to the counter. I mean, it's a good place for it but looks so unprofessional considering you are a large supermarket. Table area was filthy too, not cleaned at all. I think it's great I can dine for cheap, but I wish I didn't feel so uncared for.

Large store. Minus the fact the lunch meal fridges are on the way out past the tills? Very strange and kind of an issue I had to go through the tills to get the the fridge to then come back through the tills to pay? Maybe that's a normal thing everywhere? Helpful staff stocked shelves! Cants complain really! Worth a visit!

This is a large asda with a great selection of kids clothes. Particularly for under 3s. A homewares section, cafe and naturally food. They focus highly on self checkout, only a limited amount of manned stations at the end. The toilets were disgusting, dirty and stank. There was blood smeared on one toilet seat. Another lady in there also commented how disgusting and smelly they were

Huge parking area some spaces have electric charge points. Valeting service, barbers and timpson shop all on site. In store there is opticians, photo shop,cafe,bakery aswell as a deli. Great store layout, clothing department upstairs with lift and escalators access electrical department downstairs with polite and friendly staff and multiple selfscan and cashier checkouts.

So, just been Randomised at Sainsbury’s yesterday. As a customer who has been harassed by staff to use the Scan and go to help them save money by employing less staff. I took it on 8 weeks ago. It was 08:50 (AM) the traffic was light, I was the only one checking out with only 2 bags of shopping when the screen said I was chosen randomly for a check scan. Still trying to figure it out when one of the staff approached and started to go through my shopping and rescanning it. In shock I told him not to bother I didn’t want it any more and left. I went to Asda this morning the conditions were the same. I saved at least 25% on my shopping and guess what the Nescafe was 4.50 and not 7.00 pounds. I apologise to all of those who would have had job at Sainsbury’s had I not taken the Scan and go. Bye bye sainsbury's

Very helpful for getting food and school uniform for the new year but it is sometimes overcrowded and overpriced. The pharmacy is OK, the staff are friendly and very helpful when I need help finding something in the shop. Overall, if you need a food shopping trip or school uniform, this is the place to go as it is an easy quick shop and the parking isn't annoying like other places and can find generally what you need.

Lovely cool shopping in the hot weather, the cool air hits you as you walk in from the heat. Brought 2 bedding sets lovely designs and such good value, 2 the shirts each for my 4 grandchildren ranging in price from £4 to £6 each with trendy designs on again good value and nice quality, fruit and veg reasonably priced and floral buttery 500grm on offer at £1 a pack taste testing in store l liked it, also 2 lovely hanging baskets full of tumbling purple and lilac flowers for £5 each. Lady on till cheerful and polite and didn't launch my shopping at like lots of them do.so l would recommend Asda for shopping had a drink and jacket spuds in the cafe small bottle of Dr Pepper £1.60 thought that was a bit overpriced jacket £3.25 so that was OK.

I have shopped at this Asda countless times during the last 6 years I've lived in Colchester. I find it reasonably good and cheaper than other supermarkets. Once I had left a newspaper I had just purchased at the self checkout. Paid for and everything. Went back there when I realised but it wasn't there of course. I then went to the customer services desk and spoke to a guy but he basically said tough, nothing he could do. I know I left there it so it wasn't their fault but the newspaper should have been found by staff and he could have made more of an effort to assist me. Someone I know had forgotten a brand new mop outside a Sainsbury's and customer services there allowed her to go back and have a new one free of charge, even if it wasn't a mistake from Sainsbury's at all... I went and picked it up for her so I know it is 100% true. So yeah, they don't have the same attention to the customers as more expensive supermarkets I guess. Last two times I was there there were a lot of empty aisles. Once I went there and no bread or milk and hardly any meat. Pretty weird for a superstore. The last time I was there the frozen aisles were pretty much empty. No ice creams left etc. I wonder if they are having issues with deliveries.

Like most superstores Asia is a nice big opened plan shop polite staff overall a pleasant shop I do like to shop here every time I can I would recommend with no problem.

The food in the cafeteria is disgusting really is no other word for it the last time I ate there was just as bad I thought it was just bad day . Also the seating area is absolutely filthy this is totally Unecessable. As I understand it Asda do not run the cafeteria but unfortunately its there name that is getting the bad publicity .I wasn't the only one complaing about the cleanliness if I knew who the firm was that is running it I would contact them if whoever is supposed to clean that area worked for me I would sack them all !!!! The 3 stars are for the clothing area only

Back in May Asda Colchester were selling off Bedding and pre filled Hanging baskets. I bought this basket with begonias in for £5 and look at it now 11th August its the best value I ever bought, I have 20 Hanging baskets and this is the best. I will probably come back every time now.

Needed to charge up my Nissan Leaf but charging points were blocked by diesel car's. Know one park's in a petrol station so why should this be acceptable. Come on Asda and follow other retailers that fine car's that are not charging only then do we stand a chance of cleaning up our polluted air.

This is a really nice superstore which is well laid out, and a bonus upstairs. However I came here primarily for the café. This is where the problems started. Had to wait 10 minutes to be served (some may say that's fine, but it's not when there's only 3 people in front of you). There was only one lady on the counter (very kind and helpful, more about this later). So anyway, ordered my breakfast and had a seat. I know many places vary, but I do not like butter in a bap. Went back to the counter and the bap was exchanged FOC with no issues. So I've given another star to reflect this.

Click and collect needs some attention, email confirmation sends you to one end of the store, then the music and video desk points you back to the front of the store where the click and collect screens are. Put your email under the scanner to confirm and wait an indeterminate amount of time for someone to bring out your order.

A nice shopping experience. Slightly cheaper than Tesco. Definitely cheaper than Sainsbury, M&S... etc. One unique feature is that you can order your own pizza which will be prepared in front of you to take andbake at home at a very reasonable price (£3.5 to £4 for a 14" pizza). This is even cheaper than the frozen pizzas offered by other places.

Good selection and prices, but the car park is like running with the bulls, the Colchester method seems to be all or nothing when it comes to the accelerator pedal. Doesn't help that the enterence to the car park is so small and comes out directly onto a roundabout so at busy times you spend ages trying to get in or out. If you've bought an electric car you're in luck though, because once the lazy yummy mummy in the 4x4 is done buying her shopping you might be able to park in the charging bay... Provided you get there before the next one parks... Never actually seen an electric car in one of those bays

In the Cafe I selected the "All Day Breakfast" at around 12.30pm on a Wednesday. It was £5.00 and fair value for a fascinating culinary experience that I would not recommend to people with high expectations of restaurant meals and service.

Taking this opportunity to thank and commend Maurice from the ASDA petrol station in Colchester, who was extremely helpful. Unexpectedly today while filling air in my car tyres, in ASDA petrol station, I had a flat - due to the valve snapping off! Without hesitation and of her own accord - Maurice came to our rescue. She single handedly helped us change the spare tyre - which was not an easy feat on a mighty Range Rover. She was very helpful and went out of her way to help us - I cannot thank her enough and congratulate ASDA Colchester for having a staff like Maurice. Chris and Janet Liao
