Reviews of Marks Tey Car Boot Sale
O. C.
Usually a good boot sale but today i turned up at 6am to find it was "shut due to rain" but its completely dry. I saw many sellers turn up and leave And now at 8:30 the sun is trying to show its face. Don't always believe weather forecasts!
R. W.
Given that this car boot is massive, it's disappointing that so much of it is regular trade stalls all asking for top prices. Definitely still worth a visit however though note that once 11am hits - usually half of the stalls have packed up and gone which could be very disappointing if you arrived at 11am (given it supposedly ends at 12). 10am would be the latest time to arrive for sure.
M. H.
Love this boot sale. Hardly any queuing to get in .only 50p entrance at anytime for buyers. Well organised. And beautiful lawned field unlike other boot sale in the area. Perfect.

Usually as a girl who loves her food, I wrote about my experience with it, this time however no food was involved.
This was my adventure on an early Wednesday morning venturing to Colchester local boot sale.....
It cost a £1 to enter & they have people who show you where to park. All cars were neatly parked up as it goes just before you enter the actual boot sale itself.
I must admit it was very much bigger than I was expecting it to be.
There were several food stalls with tables & chairs to enjoy your burger, drinks etc or you could just sit & chill out & people watch.
They had all the boot sellers set up in rows, so it was very easy to be able to go up & down them & to see their items for sale.
I personally visited all the flower sellers & bought lots of various plants, which I've planted & everyone of them is flourishing nicely!
The prices were extremely cheap when compared to shops or online sellers.
You could literally spend several hours here just going up & down the rows looking at everyone's wares. I saw sellers selling everything from expensive rugs & large furniture to household items to clothes & toys to electrical items & much much more besides.
It was very enjoyable, I very happily spent around 90 minutes there & went home with a huge variety of plants that cost me approx £25.
Not a bad mornings work at all!
I will most definitely be back as it's held every Wednesday morning.
Do pop along you'll enjoy yourselves especially if it's sunny.
As always love a girl who loves her food. Justine xXx StyleOutYourHome

Simply Excellent. A great mix of Traders and car boots. The only problem is you have to get there really early. Stalls start packing up at 10.00 so that looses two stars.

Best car boot I have been to , I go every Wednesday for a rummage.
H. A.
Completely love it.
Fun place to hunt for a bargains and see interesting things.
K. E.
Well organized, great car parking and the field is in good condition always mowed, quite a lot of dealers but generally a great boot sale
J. R.
Great for antiques and collectables. A bit more upmarket than your average boot sale, in-between a boot sale and an antiques fair really. Still loads of bargains to had though!
R. R.
Always a veritable mix at this boot sale. From antiques to crisps this place has it all. There is ample parking and helpful stewards pointing the way. The regular stall holders are always friendly too. At present there is a simple one way system in place to keep everyone safe. Try to arrive early to grab the best bargains or just browse and grab a drink or a bite to eat from the several food slers like East Side who cook a mean hotdog! Situation just off the A12 access couldn't be easier. Well signed and very handy traffic control on the busiest days. Highly recommended.

Big open field for a Boot sale held on Wednesday mornings some of the stalls were big! Easy to get to straight off the A12, plenty of parking areas, I went to late at 1pm, go earlier
S. E.
More market than boot sale, good atmosphere and plenty of parking. At 50p entrance it's cheap too. Not many bargains today as sellers wanted too much profit for average goods. However brought some great plants and had a great bacon roll!!
D. C.
I've always taken good money here. Always. Loads of space, thousands of buyers, hundreds of sellers. Fantastically organised. Other car boot sales take note.

it's back and as big as ever the Marks tay boot sale is open from six until two every Wednesday lockdown permitting. Mix of traders and private sellers with food stalls as well. On site toilets and a decent amount of staff on hand to keep things moving. We paid twelve pound for a car pitch vans are a bit more. There is a small charge for buyers bringing a car. Nice and busy when we went but it had just opened post covid lockdown. records and cloths sell really well.
m. c.
Not a bad place to wonder around, if you have a few spare hours. Lots of stools to browse some old items also new . Bacon roll was a bonus.
S. B.
Had a great morning selling.
Perfect field with grass cut and clearly marked on where to park.
Bit overpriced at £12 for my car.
M. C. J.
A excellent place to find unusual and interesting items. Antique bits and pieces as well as locals selling of unwanted items. A great support team marshalling and directing vehicles and collecting entry fees. Very helpful and informative as well as being pleasant on cold early mornings.
You can buy almost everything at Marks Tey, Colchester at great affordable prices.
Highly rated and very safe and secure too!
D. N.
Was ok , but, one thing is not OK. They do not have public toilets. There are 2 of them and only one can be used by people. The other one is used only by staff wich means 3/5 persons.
D. M.
Swift access well laid out. Please ignore reports of prices and spacing/ground as I had taken them onboard and totally false.
Large walkways and one way system (with escape routes if desired) that is in the main adhered to.
50p entrance which is nothing, I'm at a loss how anyone can gripe about.
WC facilities and food.
Cash points .7 of a mile along road at Sainsbury's superstore. Or garage in opposite direction.
C. e.
Excellent boot sale, was very busy so had lots of different items. Good idea to get there early
M. R.
If you like a good car boot sale I recommend here I found some great bargains the atmosphere was good its was a bit hot tho lol yeah all round good experience and only a pound to get in per car
J. K.
Marks They boot fairs are launched again for 2018 and a very welcome site it is. When you've got Wednesday mornings free, it's lovely to know that, for 50p entry fee, there is a warm welcome and a whole morning's entertainment waiting for you. Provided the great British weather is kind, this is the place to find those bits and pieces you need - or even those you didn't know you needed!
The site, of course, is inhabited by people who are not car boosters at all
These are the traders who buy stuff in, to sell it at a profit - and there's nothing wrong with that - except these people are there every week. In the same spot and selling the same stuff they had last week.
Now, that might be handy if you want some more paper towels, a jar of coffee or a second-hand pram. There are quite a high proportion of antique sellers there as well, if you are into that.
The best times to go are during the school Easter and Summer holidays. This is when Mums have a good old clear our of their loft and garage and crowd the field to try to make a few extra Bob (pre-1971 term for a shilling -5p) for the family holiday. This is real bargain time for an avid boot fair fan and Marks Try boot fair is no different.
That's not to say that at other times you won't find a bargain.
I highly recommend Marks Yet boot fair, if you like that sort of entertainment of course.
There's always a bargain to be had there. If it's been raining, it can get a bit slippy and boots, or stout footwear are recommended.
Generally, the lanes are plenty wide enough for prams, wheelchairs and Motability scooters, unless it is high season and the lanes can get a bit narrow.
There are plenty of toilets on site, ample parking and at least burger-van type food stalls.
Get along there and try it, even if you are not a 'booter', like me. You will enjoy the experience and you might pick up a bargain.
M. C.
Brilliant for curios and unusual stuff - well organized and lots of refreshments on hand. Plenty of toilets. Sellers really friendly.
L. B.
Good car boot , lots of different sellers with a huge variety of items, so something for everyone . Also has toilets & refreshment stalls , including one that sells decent real coffee
N. B.
Who doesn't love a car boot sale.. except that given the terrain to access the site one will soon need a vintage tank to negotiate the drive.
N. B.

More Delboy market than original car boot. Worth a visit just to be told 'that cup and saucer belonged to king Richard the 27th's great uncle Frank'.
M. W.

End of season and the weather not to good. Not as many tables as I've been led to believe are normally there.
S. D.
This boot fair has variety , unlike some boot fairs it is not predominantly baby and children's toys and equipment . Some antiques , collectables, new products and food . Shame it starts so early
S. G.
