Reviews of Asda Leith Superstore
D. E.
It was a brisk and bright day, New Year’s Day- we were all a little tender from the festivities the night before. We descended upon the despondent car park, shivering and numb after our celebratory dook at portobello beach. From what we could see, it was a relatively unremarkable superstore, loomed over by some huge structure, grey and huge. It towered over the Asda store, domineering and brutalistic, leaving us in anxious awe of the industrial heritage of the area. Then we turned and entered the establishment, grim-faced and harrowed from our morning excursion.
adsa was chill I found the private eye front cover very funny. nice big telly for people to photograph themselves in by the self checkouts. we found everything we needed except forgot the cheese (for our pasta with red sauce not green pesto - we also had two garlic baguettes from the everyday essentials range and served it later in the day with asparagus I mean tenderstem broccoli which we actually bought from Sainsbury’s the day before for our hotpot which was delicious by the way). I personally was DELIGHTED at the excellent price of the onion - £0.09! Just 9 pennies!
The layout of the eye als was conducive to finding all products with relative eeze. The sad thing is the tasty soya milk is £1.15 (it used to be 60p) except for the long life, unsweetened soy ‘milk’ , yellow and red like McDonalds (which we were not long digesting) tucked away at the back of the huge expanse of the store. but everyone knows unsweetened tastes bad. But cost of living innit. Who else likes milk? Cats. What’s the opposite of cats? Dogs. There was certainly a wealth of cute puppers for us to feest are i’s on sat outside the door guarding attentively. 4 whuffs of approval in that department. What the constantly sleyeding doors of this Asda, double door’ed up (on a Sunday afternoon) must witness, dey after dey, knight after knight for all 24 hours they are opening and closing without even a gentle hand needing to be layed on them. We left feeling rejoovenated and redy to tackle the noo yeer lyke never b4.

I shop here about 2 to 3 times a week. It's OK as Asda's go. On the plus side it has large car park. Is bright and airy. Is usually reasonably well stocked. I particularly like the 'scan & go' as you can see how much you are spending as you go along. Normally no need to queue or unload your trolley and re pack into bags.
On the down side, stock rotation is poor. I like to rummage at the back of shelves to get the freshest items. However, I often find that the stuff at the back is older and often out of date. Tip: check the date on chilled and bakery goods from this store. You have been warned.
Also, don't believe the shelf-edge price labels. It is not unusual to be charged something different at the check-out. I have occasionally found that price label says one thing, the 'scan & go' device another and then the check-out something completely different.
The staff attitude and service is variable. Some are brilliant and will bend over backwards to help. Others are complete misery guts who appear to believe that customers are an annoyance and a hindrance. Happy shopping!

I loved it. Went there every third day, Asda'a own Chocolates are very cheaper and tasty. Big enough. Self billing is available.
I. A.
Great supermarket! 24/7 self check out. Reasonable prices. Spacious. Clean. Well arranged. Huge parking place. Petrol station. Help desk. Opticians on site. Click & Collect service. Cafe (close at the moment, unfortunately). Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere.
N. P.
Apart from the lack of eggs and Fruit and Fibre, there is a disappointing range of ales a available in cans.
A. C.
Open 24hrs. This is a one stop shop for most of your shopping needs. Fairly priced. Fresh produces. Lots of Indian stuff too.
j. s.
Issue with purchasing a chilled item, sold 4 days after its best before date. Not great, Asda. Kudos to Jane on customer service desk, who was practical, calm and apologetic. She's a credit to your team.
C. O. O.
Asda has a big parking space for customers and also disabled parking spaces. I shop there mostly in the mornings before 08.00am or just before when it's still not crowded. At this time of the day, there's always a man cleaning whether raining or sun shining and he is quick friendly and seems to enjoy his job.
This Asda in leith is not as big as the one in jewel or Chester but you can find most of the things needed there. It is an Asda you can run in quickly and out. It is neat and staff are friendly also.

ASDA is a Great Supermarket with 24/7 self check-out. The prices are reasonable and better than the product prices provided at "Sainsbury's Local". ASDA is very Spacious, Clean, Well arranged, Huge parking place, Petrol station and Help desk. The ASDA staff are Friendly and it is a lovely atmosphere.
W. K.
it has essentials for cheap but its very hard to get reduced food when the stickers go on as its a free for all with no orderly behaviour and the staff dont do nothing there should be some kind of queing system
M. B.
Quite a big store. Had everything we needed. Was very quiet as well when we visited. Fuel was also much cheaper than elsewhere.
H. D.
Has almost everything you need! Good discounts. Competitive prices
J. C.
We have been using Asda's home delivery service from their Leith store, where we would normally shop, since the first National lockdown in March and they have quite simply provided a lifesaving service.
We have had no problems in booking delivery slots and while it has sometimes been a little irritating when some items have not been available in the main our orders have always been fulfilled. We are also always advised in advance of items which are not available and if replacements are offered we don't want we do 't need to accept them.
The delivery drivers are, without exception, helpful and polite and always respect covid guidelines even though our delivery slots are almost always late evening slots near the end of a long shift.
Well done Asda.
S. O.
Great especially if have car, because it's huge and has practically everything (paint, tools, pizza.. .). The staff are very very busy, and encouraged to use self service, but I like speaking to someone, so usually opt for traditional. Always always so kind and helpful. It's so big, often have to ask staff for help, but they never grumble (out loud, can imagine their speech bubbles though:-:-).
Only complaint is the cafe. Only been once, with elderly couple, and staff were so so grumpy. The cooked food was overdone and looked horrible, at lunch time!
But we had pots of tea, real coffee and scones. Delicious! But was ultra sunny, and the heat through the windows was stifling.
But great to pop in for cheap beachwear, work ware etc. Two quite rich friends swear by it for workwear. Maybe cheap Christmas party dress. More money left to go for delicious meal in town or to theatre .
Ask in all, really welcome addition to Leith!
I.
Local and convenient but honestly? The staff need to do their job for sure, was there just last week at self check out. I always use it but when the machines don't work properly. Standing there 15 minutes just to wait for them to fix the machine so can continue scanning.
A. S.
I use this ASDA for Click and Collect orders and haven't really had a major problem. Some odd substitutions at times but the staff are friendly and polite. Could do with some more bays for the Click and Collect however.
S. A.
Prices shown on Asda website are not accurate in store.
N. S.
Asda branded grated cheese was green mouldy after a week in the fridge.Never opened the package and best before 1 month after. No help at all from customer service because I have no receipt. These employees do not understand how much is their role in customer experience and brand reputation.
K. H.
This used to be my regular shop but not any more.
They removed 4 parent & child parking spaces to put in a click & collect bay.
The rest of the spaces seem really small compared to other car parks making it a tricky shopping trip with children.
We did try the click and collect - it was not done well at all. Machines not working and staff mixing up the order.
It's an asda so you know what you're getting mostly.
It's a small one but does have a decent clothes section and a small cafe.
D. F.
Only one till operated by staff open. Lot of people waiting to be served.
Don't appear to understand that self service tills don't suit everyone.
T. O.
Have just visited the store - found a sum of money on the floor - approached a member of staff and asked for a manager however was told they were all on break - didn't feel comfortable handing them the money due to the sum - was told to go to customer service however therw was no one there - if anyone has reported or lost money please reply with the amount and I'll happily reply to give back
S. G.
The range of foods is unbelievable. Very tasty.
K. N.
Nice n big. Stocks most of your regular items. Fisher mongers are a bit rude n biased..served an English lady in front of me differently than I was served.
Otherwise store is good. Wish they cud start with some Asian products as the Tesco on Leith walk does
I. T.
Great product range considering it's the smallest ASDA in Edinburgh. Staff are very helpful, especially when you treat them with respect. Customer Services are excellent even though they are obviously very busy at peak times. On top of all this ASDA prices are much lower on average than rivals & quality of own brand products is right up there. Enjoy shopping there!
L. F. S. S.
Great place to go for budgie sead still the cheapest In town only £1-90 500grams box
M. C.
Certain products are often completely out of stock, or simply not restocked in time (boxload is still on the top shelf, waiting to be restocked)
It seems that this superstore isn't quite super enough for the area that it serves. Strangely, the premises itself has a vacant 'to let' unit available in space that it should proably expand into to avoid the the issues with shortages on common stocks. For example, it's pretty rare to be able to find cans of Coca Cola or Pepsi as they've quickly sold out, or not been restocked. Not helped by Irn bru getting entire shelves to itself.
Also rarely enough staff on checkout, I think the most I've seen is five.
Just got back from there. Dog mess on the floor right outside the doors...
I wish the Marks and Spencer were closer.
D. T.
Decent enough Asda, as long as you don't interact with the staff or query something.
I had an item scan at what looked like the wrong price when I was on self serve and flagged it up to a staff member. As it was an item just next to the self serve machines, I went with him to have a look. Turned out the label was in the wrong place (same product, different flavour, tiny writing on the label).
Then, he walked away! No attempt at all to fix it... I mean, really?! Someone else is going to query that very same thing
M. B.
How about poor! This store nowadays runs out of everything on a regular basis, bakery isle u get there at 6pm all gone go to another you will gett bread, fresh fruit as and when, we have seen the store coming on and it is going downhill, disappointment, shall we let's welcome Aldi on Commercial street,?!!!
T. F.
Staff are always very pleasant and helpful, but the quality of fresh produce is not on par with the other supermarkets in Leith. The vegetables are often substandard to begin with, and the fruit tends to last no more than a couple of days.
H. M.
I literally popped in to use post box,
Friendly staff
Clean
Good size
Couldn't see a car park at the front, I presume it is around the back?
C. A. T.
Went to Asda on Sunday got loads of food 🍲 and bottles of water 💦 my daughter and son in law took me to Asda in the. 🚙. So I could get lots of stuff at once and a good place to get everything you need worth going to
Sent from my Sony Xperia
S. C.
Decent sized ASDA down by the water in Leith. Good amount of car parking although its an annoyingly long trek from the main road and round to the back of the store to actually park. Disabled spaces are also a fair distance from the trollies and front door too. Checkouts usuallt well staffed and there are also self serve.
s. M.
very nice place for family shopping staff very nice specialy mr Richards he is really professional and treat like family he know the hospitality. just Asda need to price match with other store like farmfood Lidl and tesco
Y. Y.
Lovely modern developed ASDA, great investment on it lately.
Nice atmosphere for both individuals and family members.
R. I. D. 2.
no PRIME energy drink when it said there was PRIME on the website
L. W. F.
Amazing staff, they assisted me with my shopping whilst in the store. They were extremely helpful and friendly, I honestly couldn't have met a better staff work team!
B. M.
Good store. Could do with carrier bags being more accessible as you usually have to ask a member of staff for one, which can be time consuming during busy hours.
Has a bit of everything. Staff are friendly.
M. M.
Large store but let down by tiny self serve check outs (Look at Morrisons at Waterfront Broadway, Edinburgh Granton store they have huge self serve check outs and the machines work).
The self serve checkouts need wiped clean
No one is ever at the fish counter and feel sorry for the customers who get fed up waiting and leave. Put in a suggestion twice in Asdas surveys to place a bell to ring for service but no reply.
Overall a good place to shop but the self serve check out needs to be revised. Take a peek in Morrisons just up the road. Much larger layout.....Just saying, Asda.
M.
The phrase 'must see' is overused these days but this is one place that more than lives up-to the hype. I'm lucky enough to have been several times and each time I have been left speechless. One of Edinburgh's top tourist attractions and rightfully so.
P. L.
It's an asda store with the exception that it has an in store cafe and an optician. Would be nice if the optician shop was at my local asda save having to travel over half the city to get to it ... cant have everything!
R. C.
Good supermarket shopping experience found everything I required lots fresh products on offer good products and price reasonable , great selection off non food products
S. T.
Typical Asda Supermarket. Always friendly staff with ample parking available. Sometime the available stock in fresh Produce can be low though.
S. A.
Nice shop but not a huge asda - sometimes doesn't have what you're looking for if it isn't something massively common - can lead to problems when baking for example.
C. M.
Clean, relatively new, and ok selection. Car park is a little on the small side though. Sometimes see great ships in Leith harbour parked adjacent to the carpark
L. A.
Best ASDA in Edinburgh I would say. It is the one with most variety of products, and the staff is really nice.
G. M.
Half there shelfs are bare at certain times of the day. And don't stock up while shopping.
M. L.
Does not accept European Union ID cards or driving licences for proof of age.
Fairly good prices and selection. Speciality items are not a forte.
K. O.
Visiting from London. Fresh food is better quality and cheaper! Lovely chat with checkout assistant. Enjoyed my experience.
a. s.
Easy access, good food available. They also have good selection of clothes and of not its easy to order online and pick up in store
J. M.
Great Asda, open 24 hours, big and spacious, and even during it's busiest times, still seems peaceful to shop.
J. S.
Staff are awesome and friendly, which is what makes for a great shopping experience. Plus great choice and value. Nice!
J. W.
It's a good Asda. The staff are friendly and they mostly have everything. Their think 25 policy is quite strict however.
A. A.
Great place to shop with comfortable environment around beautiful sight at competitive prices!
P. P.
Great help from Alex (male) in Asda leith this morning with help at self scan . Very pleasant 😁
Nice to have a cheery member of staff to help .
L. D.
Poor choice I store, under staffed and a click and collect service, that has to be experienced to be believed. Dismal!
E. C.
Plenty of parking and well lit. Super friendly staff that are ready to help at a moment notice. Prices are good as well as the selection.
H. A. M.

A. F.
Good destination for the weekly shop. Café OK, but get there early if you want a full choice.
D. A.
This store is OK but you must watch your goods going through the till to make sure they are at the price that is on the shelf.
N. w.
New kettle needed. Got the basic home one for just £9. It’s perfect!

Gerne wieder.

I was only in this store to use the restroom. It was really clean, apart from the fact that the previous tenant didn't wash the dishes. Unfortunately, there weren't enough trash cans in the parking lot. Because of this, I had to put my trash from the long car ride in a shopping cart. Gladly again.

(Translated) Convenient supermarket especially as it is open 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. If necessary, if you are not driving, the number 10 bus line stops a few meters away. A small flat however on the quality of the bread and the freshness of certain vegetables. For the rest, not much to add.

Supermarché bien pratique d'autant qu'il est ouvert 7 jours sur 7 et 24 heures sur 24. Au besoin, si vous n'êtes pas véhiculé, la ligne de bus numéro 10 s'arrête à quelques mètres.
