A deceptively large shop (about 3/4 is in a back room) with a very welcoming owner and staff. Bought lots of food that is normally hard to find in Edinburgh!

Friendly staff service, good variety of products and one of the better meat shops in Edinburgh in terms of cutting off excess fat and cleaning their meat. Points where Rajah's could improve particularly regarding butchers/handling of meat: - Maintain competitive pricing especially with meat (prices have crept up during the pandemic) - Offer halal organic/taayib meat as people are taking a greater interest in the health and welfare of the animal before it was slaughtered (no antibiotics, growth hormone and steroid injected animal with no space to roam free) - Online home delivery

Good quality butchers, meats always trimmed off excess fat so you get a good price/weight ratio. The back section with other world foods as well as deep freezers with a great selection of frozen, quality continental foods is a haven for world foodies. Put all the above alongside the friendly and professional service/banter and very good prices for fresh produce and butchery makes this an absolute winner any day

I had my boyfriend go for me since I was shielding and they helped him to no end. He wasn't familiar with what I needed even though i gave him a list, but the person in store was very helpful, friendly and patient. Even suggested other stuff I may be looking for which was great. He says he will have no problem going again since they were so nice.

All Indian Stuff available... Brilliant ready to eat meals. Pickle collection is much more than back home in Dubai... Only vegetarians have to be a little careful to other meat display.. Though it's in a separate area altogether... Not pricey at all.

Today was my first time there. I only went there to buy samosas, but I bought a few other things too. The samosas were fresh in today. That is a fact, because when I phoned them yesterday they were up-front and told me that the samosas that they had then were on the last day that they could be sold, and that fresh stock was coming in today. They have a huge selection of foods. I was given a tour of the whole place by an enthusiastic guide. I will definitely be going back.

A visit to Rajah's is a treat for lovers of Asian cuisine...the smells emitting from the kitchen are truly divine...I entered the shop for a few essentials last week, and was greeted by the smell of methi gosht (Fenugreek Lamb) being prepared...beautiful. The shop front resembles a small Asian grocery store, selling various fresh vegetables, fruits, chili peppers, herbs, sweets, drinks and cakes....further back is the butcher's...chicken, lamb, beef, all freshly cut as you wish. However, venture through to the very back of the shop and you are greeted with every spice, herb, pulse, powder, sauce and other condiments you would want for your own kitchen, as well as frozen fish, chicken meat, goat meat, seafood, also pots and pans, incense etc... I was served by Zen who asked me about what I like to cook. He then gave me a catalogue from a supplier, asking me to take it away and highlight what I would like to see stocked in the shop. Doesn't get much better than that.

My recent visit (refered by a friend) to the store impressed me, selection of Asian groceries( range of spices, frozen fish, fresh veg etc) were impresive plus the staff's 'eager to help' attitude was a feel good factor. Its a Halal meat shop too. Surely visit again

This shop is a real find. It's in a side street off the city centre end of Leith Walk. The spices are in a converted back-shop area and the variety is amazing - it's a supermarket in itself. As well as a mesmerising variety of spices, there's also a great choice of quantities available, ranging from "normal" to "catering size". Compared with the prices I pay in my local Sainsbury's, the spices I bought from Raja were around one fifth of the cost. And that was for "normal" quantities, not enormous amounts that would keep me in cumin for three years. The service is also terrific, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I used to buy my spices online, but the postage was a fairly high proportion of the total cost. If you're visiting Edinburgh, stop off at this brilliant spice emporium - you won't regret it :-)
