Reviews of UnKnown Italy
Small shop with a limited selection. If you're looking for something specific it's best to phone ahead, because they don't stock everything you'd expect.
The best place in Edinburgh for authentic Italian foods you really can’t find anywhere else. The staff are great and will even make you a hamper or ship to your friends. Well worth a visit! ♥️🇮🇹♥️
Friendly local deli. It’s been a lifesaver during lockdown. Great selection of cold meats, cheeses and breads. They also have lovely fruit tarts!
Lovely little Italian deli. Excellent selection of cured meats and cheese.
Great italian salami !
Delicious cheese and salami
The shop is small but they have various cured meats and cheeses. The service is very slow, if you have two people in front of you at least you wait 20 minutes. Very high prices, average quality in my opinion. It's more the idea that these are things you don't find easily than the quality of the products themselves. The raw ham and bresaola were a strange color and didn't seem fresh. The piece of fontina I took was practically a bite (they were already cut and all the same size) and I paid £5 for it.
Let's say it didn't make me want to come back.
A small corner of Italy that makes you feel at home. Excellent cured meats, we tried the smoked scamorza, the Tuscan salami, the speck and the mortadella. Yummy! I'll be back as soon as I can. The girl at the counter was friendly and nice, she prepared a real Italian sandwich for us. Thank you :)
