Reviews of Roots, Fruits and Flowers
P. M.
WORTHY WEST END ADDITION
We had Brunch here and it was lovely. Nice fresh food, served by very friendly and capable staff in a smart, comfortable venue. Oh! The scones were fab too!
K. K.
This is a well run series of flower, fruit, veg and wholefood stores. There is a small in-store dining area and the staff are polite, friendly and on-the-ball. Yes, it can be pricey (not so much the veg 🥬) but it is definitely worth the money and time to visit.
p.
The staff is great. The vibe is great. The food is honestly the best I’ve had in a while. The price is on another level. Overall I couldn’t be happier. Will go again tomorrow and every following day. Making the organic food they do so perfectly would be more expensive than just eating at their cozy location. I love it!
C. Q.
One of my favourite coffee spots, love their home made protein balls, and always have a good selection of organic produce/drinks.
J. M.
Sat outside for a coffee and cake. Have their own kitchen bakery so had high expectations. Wasn't disappointed, lemon tart was delicious and coffee was good. Great range of produce in the shop too. Highly recommended
T. G.
Tasty healthy food with excellent service.
Safe to say you get every ounce of vitamins with their high quality veg and pre made meals.
I would certainly visit every day if I lived closer and looking forward to the next visit!
m. s.
I’ve been a customer for 4+ years, but starting to go off Roots & Fruits recently. It doesn’t help that today I was charged £2 extra over the marked price of £6.49 for a maple syrup. When I pointed it out to the cashier, I was fobbed off with the excuse that the price went up. Surely, this is illegal and they should still charge me what it says on the ticket.
M. M.
The coffee and food were first class. Staff lovely and friendly. Down stairs is 🐕 freindly. Everything was lovely and clean great service will be back
H. J.
We traveled england and scotland for one month. At this place we ate the best for a verry reasonable price. Student discount as well. Wish we had it in Berlin!
E. L.
Love coming here for healthy treats and vegan alternatives. Has a very wide variety of fruits and vegetables as well, love it.
R. G.
Great place. Friendly staff, amazing selection of sweet and savory food to go or eat in. Indoor and outdoor seating. Difficult to choose, so many tasty options.
M. M.
Great coffee, nice people, good organic groceries, fresh Bavarian bread, awesome home made breakfast.
L. W.
Had a really good soup of the day for only £3,7 and an excellent coffee. There is also a great choice of organic groceries.
T. E.
If you want to fresh veg this is the place to get it. Ask what is in season and where it’s come from to get the freshest products, labels give you a lot of info about this. It is probably more expensive than what you would get in the coop across the road but you get what you pay for the quality is better and probably better for you. Don’t forget to take your own bags.
L. L.
Fantastic place to get fresh, harder to find and loose produce, great if you cook for one and want to reduce food waste! Fresh mature spinach bunches, banana shallots, heirloom varieties and a yearly delivery of French purple garlic are my highlights as well as the ability to buy just the right amount of potatoes, and a great mushroom selection. The deli is also great, with a selection of bread from local bakeries, great pastries, organic and free-from groceries. I like to stop by for a fancy can of fizzy juice or kombucha during walks in the summer. I've been coming here since I arrived in Glasgow 5 years ago and they never disappoint.
A. M.
Quirky place but in a good way. Yeah, we need more shops like the Roots, Fruits and Flowers. Well... very extravagant 🦄😊
G. R.
Excellent choice and quality produce. Quite pricey but you get what you pay for.
J. N.
My favourite place in Glasgow so far to shop fresh fruits, vegetables, organic products as well as to have lunch. Salads are really delicious!
H. B.
Great shop with plenty of fresh produce, eco friendly and organic goods and a zero waste section with cereals, grain and nuts. One of the best grocer's in the west end!
R. K.
Best soya cappuccino I've ever had. Amazing cake too! Great atmosphere, shop and few places to sit and eat too. Staff are really friendly
S. N.
Go try their pastries, they are pieces of art! We tried their chocolate-coffee éclairs today. Sooo good 😋
J. R.
I've been coming here for 15 years and I've always been more that happy with the quality. I make a point of coming here when I'm in the West End. I find there to be a great choice of organic food and beverages for a fair price.
N. B.
Veey good variety of wholefood, eco alternatives. Vegan & vegetarian as well as home made salads, cakes and snacks. Easy access to public transport - bus and subway. Just along from Kelvinbridge and fancy West end shops.
A. K. R.
Really good quality independent business, love it. Amazing selection of products from breads and toppings to cold pressed soaps, and tasty cafe.
E. A.
My husband ordered me flowers last week from Roots and Fruits and they’re literally the most beautiful bouquet of flowers I’ve ever seen. They’re a week old and even more beautiful than when he first got them as the lilies have begun to bloom. I’ll never go anywhere else for flowers.
A. M.
Great place to stop off at if you're exploring the West End, v. friendly staff, excellent coffee and super range of very competitively priced cakes and "funcies". The grocery section looked very tempting but couldn't have carried shopping on our historical tour.
C. C.
Not as many vegan items as I'd hoped for, one of the staff members was a little short with me when I ordered something from the food counter and very expensive in general but still a nice range
A. M.
A wonderful wee gem in the west end. Great place to get fresh and local produce at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit 😊
G. G.
Nice store, friendly staff, and good selection of items. The fresh food they make is great too!
M. C.
Lovely vegetarian /vegan food. However had to sit outside because I had my dog with me also wouldn't let me take it in while I went to the loo. I understand that it's a restaurant but many places now are letting dogs in.
G. C.
Excelent stock and quality of products! Kinda pricy but worth it if you into organics and great quality foods.
P. G.
Great coffee, really nice food, quirky atmosphere.
Their newly completed café is a real joy . Light, bright, warm and friendly. Excellent food, especially breakfast with the benefits of the hustle and bustle of Kelvinbridge going on outside for additional entertainment.
a. m.
Great wee place, I stop in once every two weeks to refill my porridge oat container and pick up some fresh fruit every Monday morning! Trying to buy local where I can.
Bread is great too as is their brownies!
C. C.
Great selection and friendly staff. Miss the refills, have they started back yet?
A. J.
Fabulous range of interesting food including great veggie and vegan options. Fantastic service friendly staff.
J. L.
Lovely place to get good food, especially organic food, if you can afford it.
A. T.
Great alternative place to eat and buy things. Tasty bread, tea, chocolate and many more, even toiletries. All organic or vegan. Love those products
M. V.
Pretty much the best place in West End to get fresh fruit, veggies, bread, and great quality goods that are harder to come by in a regular shop (think gluten free flour, "free from" foods, organic tinned stuff, San Marzano tomatoes, and so on).
P. A.
Great organic products, nice food & hot beverages to sit-in or takeway, and nice place as well! And very friendly staff!
This is the sort of place that make the West End the West End.
A. K.
Really nice shop and really friendly, approachable and helpful staff. Great selection of all sorts of organic ingredients as well as having for for on the go!
G. H. G.
Great selection of wholefoods, as well as some great options for freshly made hot and cold food. Really good for vegan options too, and not too expensive.
V. C. S.
Very nice food, I’m gluten and dairy intolerant but it didn’t make difficult to get something really delicious :P.
The shelves are also full of good stuff.
M. T.
Great coffee food fresh baked interesting gourmet breads. It's like a real old fashioned deli combined with a health food shop
O. K.
Great for getting those items that tou can't find in a regular store, although the pricing is a bit expensive. However, the greatest minus for me is the staff. I don't feel welcomed in the store
R. W.
They always have such a great selection of produce on the one side, with things I often wouldn't be able to get at the normal grocery store, and then a great selection of vegan friendly pantry and chilled items along with a great little cafe area on the other side. Makes for a great all around stop.
A. M.
Great spot for high quality fruit and veg. Produce is much better than what you can get in any of the supermarkets. Well worth stopping in if you pass by.
o. a.
Love the food here. The different pies done everyday are particularly good. Great veggie and non-veggie options and friendly staff.
L.
Good place for have a coffee or small lunch. Would recommend the soup of the day!!
S. D.
Great selection, great service and extremely friendly staff.
Best tastes around.
M. C.
Lovely wee place for good organic produce. Friendly people, good variety of products, good prices. They also do some student discount.
K.
This place has a great deli section with addictive tortillas and a great section of any kind of speciality food. Also lovely alt milk coffees. Service is helpful but doesn’t have much enthusiasm.
K. T.
While there are some items that may be on the higher end of grocery prices the choice here is excellent choice and value to be had. They stock freedom bakery bread and loads of vegan products. Wide herbal tea selection and an always tasty deli products. Service is always friendly and helpful.
B. P.
This has long been a fine place to shop for fruit and veg but I never sat down to have brunch before. Glad I did! Recommended.
D. G.
Great range of organic vegetables and fruits, cruelty free toiletries, and interesting foods.
M. D.
Got all I wanted. Good service, little pricey, but these products are difficult to find. Great shop.
M. H.
A great selection of food and drink, as well as good coffee and got snacks.
g.
Great staff, great place, great atmosphere and something for the most unusual palette Huge range of quality products
J. F.
An excellent shop for its range of stock. Even for those who aren't vegetarian
or vegan. But for those who are its a vegetarians / Vegans paradise and definately not to be missed.
B. W.
Lovely food and staff, as well as a great selection of whole foods.
B. R. D.
Vegan delights and plenty more
A. C.
Lovely coffee shop that does meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free products
A. M.
The food in here is just amazing and it's not extortionate like many other healthy/alternative places
f.
Loads of great plant based foods. Salad was great and I'm looking forward to the chocolate cake!
A. M.
I always come back for the tastiest fruits and friendliest staff ❤️
G.
Try to give my custom to local business but prices can be towards the higher end. Nice freshly made food though they still think there is no harm or damage to nutrients microwaving food to warm it up.
G. M.
Wonderful fruit and vegetables and hardly any plastic!! Love it. M&G🏴
S.
Amazing place to stop in for a coffee & cake or even to grab a bite on the go.
The food here is incredibly fresh and tasty and reasonably priced.
Also they do have so many vegan & organic products on offer.
Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Glasgow!
y.
They have a lot of vegan food which is good but seriously overpriced for what it is. As someone else commented, the staff are just awful. Not friendly at all. They actually make me feel bad for shopping there.
A. H.
Excellent produce and superb value for money. Staff are relaxed and genuinely friendly. Best globe artichokes around.
B. D.
Fabulous fresh greengrocers in the heart of the West end, great produce and excellent prices.
L. S.
Had the best breakfast ever here on Saturday morning. Lovely staff and great atmosphere and the food was amazing
G. E.
Coffee and ambiance is ideal and what you'd expect from a delicatessen and food wholesale in the heart of the west end of Glasgow.
W. W.
This a good place to buy wholefoods.I always spend more than l want to there..!
F. D.
Fantastic Delicatessen, fruit, veg. and flower shop. At the moment it's under some refurbishment, so is not fireing on full power at the moment, but I didn't think it will be back to its usual high standard.
C. B.
Huge range of food from across the world, knowledgeable staff
P. H.
Good selection of produce, from groceries, body care to environmentally friendly cleaning products.
C. H.
Food from the deli is so good. The staff are lovely.
A. S.
Fantastic selection of fruits and vegetables
A. H.
Excellent place for organic food not far from the university in Glasgow.
G. G.
Great coffee, great staff. Always brilliant to visit
E. A.
The food is very good, but some staff are not very polite. We nicely told them, being Italians, that some names of coffees were written with mistakes, and after that, they didn't say goodbye when we left. NOT VERY NICE.
A. B.
Lovely service great place to source harder to find Vegn/organic/ethical products..
A. S.
Lots of great healthy choices and delicous treats. Spent over £30 and was given a free cappuccino too. Great local independently owned shop for good food.
P. C.
All organic food shop with pretty flowers. Lovely staff members that sell high quality products at a decent price.

G. R.
Great fresh fruit and veg. A must stop if you like proper good F&V
D. M.
Great wide range of fruits and vegetables from different countries. Suggestion: Would love to see them selling cassava there next time. :)
E. V.
So many amazing alternatives and some of them are on the same price as the normal supermarket ones. Totally impressed.
R. C.
Great coffee, and great food. Soup is always amazing. I like that you sit and eat in
D. K.
Service is slow and chaotic. Takes 10 min to get a coffee. Staff are not bothered (apart from the Spanish lady, who is really nice). Lack of managerial presence.
N. L.
Store was small but nice with good quality health food
L. B.
Great selection of food ...caters for all including gluten free options
M. P.
This is a great store for shopping but every time I've tried to come here for lunch the staff are discouraging and the tables are filthy.
D.
Fabulous breakfast and full Monty friendliness. Great stock and baking cakes bread croissants etc
D. G.
Such an amazing little treasure trove of wholesome produce. Delightful in every sense 💗
P. B.
Great quality of a bit pricey. Although take away sandwiches are the best around!
e. o.
If only staff was friendlier this would be my favourite place. For the price tag, they could make a bit of an effort to be down to earth as the name of the shop suggests.
R. N.
One of our favourite Westend haunts! Really good food and service!
S. R.
Good selection of 'healthy' foods plus items not found in supermarkets mostly organic

G. M.
A jewel in the west end. Love the herbal tea selection and the food is quite delicious
A. O.
They do the best brownies in Glasgow! The food is healthy and delicious. But the vegs and fruits are too expensive and not any better than regular supermarket produce.
L. Q.
Good range of unusual veg. Would like more organic options. Often go to Sainsburys for this reason.
J. C. L.
Its a well stocked foodie heaven .. they stock Caurnie too
M. H.
Amaizing place! Friendly people always and they have now in stock handmade shampoo bars and soaps !I nettle-red clay, lemon-poppy seed, calendula and oatmeal and the list continues...I bought them and they are really good! I know where i will go for my Christmas presents!
A. G.
Generally friendly staff except for one cashier who missed the mark for me. I had a great squash/ginger soup but she served it to me after a long wait without a napkin/spoon and gave me my sausage roll freezing cold.
D. G.
Really useful for fresh herbs that the supermarkets don't stock.
K. F.
My local! I love nipping into the deli and grabbing a few things for dinner, there's always amazing veggie options to try and vegan cakes every day!!
G. R.
Lively lunchtime spot with a range of Euro/Scots food which is tasty and appealing. Fine coffee and a chill out space.
D. M.
Excellent eaterie and take-away, highly recommended
w. w.
Just love this place! Such a west end institution. Iv been using the 3 shops for 16 odd years now. Large array of food goods, fresh fruit and veg and I love using the deli when I can be bothered to cook. Your bound to find some interesting things you have never ait or drank before. The flower shop is lovely with really different and exotic flowers you won't find in many flower shops around Glasgow.
C.
Cute atmosphere, I had an amazing vegan carrot cake - and they had lots of vegan options 😋
A. N.
Lovely place to have a healthy snack.
a. n.
This is one of the shops which gives Glasgow its charm and character. The food we had was well cooked, tasty and well presented. The view (people watching) from the window whilst eating, can only be bettered by Paris or other large cities. The atmosphere is one of great contentment, the smell of the shop the relaxed atmosphere. Its great. It may be a little shabby in places but that is the beast. I like it.
D. D.
Everything is fresh... perfect vegetable and fruit 😋
R. S.
My favourite green grocer in the West End of Glasgow. Excellent selection of fruit and veg.

S. D.
Everything is great here, but it's a bit overpriced
N. V.
Very good quality of products. Abysmally disorganized customer service. Go there because they have good organic products and you don't mind waiting in queues

N. N.
Best fruits and vegetables resource in the West end of Glasgow
D. M.
Great selection, you can get almost anything here.
M. W.
This is simply a Glasgow Institution.
Possibly the widest and most eclectic choice of fruit and vegetables outside of a fruit market. Also indoor and out door flowers and plants.
And they must the go to place for a massive selection of vegetarian & vegan products.
The coffee is to die for. Carry out and for the home. They use Tin Donkey Roasters
They have new cafe opening soon on the corner of GWR & Otago street. Watch this space!
A. Y. M. U.

Bought our Christmas Tree from Roots and Fruits this year and as it was our first year buying a real tree we were a little apprehensive and didn't know what we were doing. That said, the lad in the shop wqa extremely helpful and helped us pick a great 7ft number. Price was great and the tree lovely when unwrapped. It's lasted great until even now as we bought it the first weekend in December. Will defo use again and recommend.
E. S.
Phil and the team at the florist shop provided all the flowers for my wedding day on the 2nd of April. Everything was perfect, beautiful, and exactly what we wanted. Throughout the process, Phil had great artistic vision. He took our own ideas and created amazing arrangements. Communication was clear throughout and everything was delivered without a hitch. Thank you so much!

(Translated) Probably the best place to eat in Glasgow: excellent bread (at the level of the best Parisian bakeries), inventive salads with fresh and organic products, very convincing burgers, super vegan wraps, top desserts... team is very nice, thank you to them, they do a great job! few tables inside but possibility to take away. excellent value for money (10% discount for students on all stores)
(Original)
