Reviews of Co-op Food - Cardigan Road
H.
This is my fave mini supermarket in West Leeds. Great variety of fresh fruit and veg for a shop this size. Love the fresh bakery at the back, the sour dough loaves are banging. This is my usual go to for grabbing beers and snacks too.
B. N.
Great 24 hour store that has everything you need to top up your shelves at home or for a larger shop, decent alcohol selection, but only a small freezer section at the back. Plenty of tills so you rarely have to queue. They have taken all the necessary precautions for Covid as well.
R. C.
Coop is a more expensive supermarket but it does carry a slightly more up market feel. Like if you crossed Tesco with Marks and Spencers. Staff are older usually but I dont mind that they are always helpful and cheerful.
G. J.
Great place to stop if you have nothing for dinner.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Will go back when next in Leeds.
G. B.
Very helpful staff, very convenient as it's open 24 hours
S. H.
Great opening hours, spacious with good selection of grocery items, including vegetables, ready meals, frozen food, beverages (alcohol and non alcohol). Free onsite parking (including disabled bays), friendly staff to assist, and self service tills to avoid the queues. Convenience store.
S. N.
A childhood shop from the 1970s. I always have a sense of nostalgia when I go into this shop. Fond memories of shopping there with my Mum, does anyone remember the co op savings stamps?
C. D.
My favourite goto shop. Fresh fruits veggies. Lots of variety on grocery and dairy products. Their bakery are really nice stuff.
E. C.
Due to it being the closest main shop in the area, this Co-op receives a lot of business. I belove it would benefit from expanding as there is some lack of range of produce for how busy the shop is. There are several self service checkouts in this shop which are always popular but there are also plenty of staff on hand for if its needed. Can sometimes find a great bargain in this shop when items are put on sale, I'd reccomend shoppers to keep an eye out for any reduced items, which can usually be salvaged by a freezer. The only downfall of this shop is one that affects all Co-ops and it's the fact that most of the items here are severely overpriced. This isnt somewhere you should do a weekly shop at unless you want to be wasting money. The shop is good to pick up a few things but not as somewhere to survive off of. That being said, I do enjoy using my Co-op rewards card to collect points. These point dont even begin to compensate for how expensive the shop it, but it at least feels nice to collect them.
S. R.
Lovely place to find almost anything food related. Good selection of fresh fruits, veg and meats. Dvd's and books also stocked along with a small selection of mobile phone accessories. Good pricing and always has lots of offers and deals on. Staff are very friendly and always full of smiles.
L. B.
Dont you think it's about time you stopped the beggars from constantly being outside its very off putting for customers,an incident no more than 20 mins ago and your security just stands watch...wow ,also.mask wearing seem to be one rule for one and one for another. Not a very good service at all .
J. P.
Fairly small co-op but still plently of choice. Isles are a bit narrow so social distancing can be tricky. Good overall though.
S. M.
A good sized co-op, great for a local shop.
Downsides:
- Awkward car park can be hard to get in and out
- Expensive if you do a big shop. We use just for snacks and emergency e.g. milk, bread etc.
- Product selection can be a bit hit and miss e.g. Ice-cream (BRING BACK MAGNUM CRACK TUBS!)
- Often people beg outside the door and can sometimes harass you. I can sympathise with some, but I have had others refuse my offer of food and demand money.
A. N.
Quite a large 'local' shop with plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, etc. Can get quite busy at times but there's plenty of checkouts so no problem there.
Opening hours are quite long so another great advantage and situated on Cardigan Road it's very convenient for both locals and students plus the Burley Park Train Station is just a stones throw away to the rear of the Co-Op so plenty of options for commuters into Leeds or Harrogate the other way or even further afield.
Enjoy! 😉
P. M.
lovely and beautiful as only the CO-OP could be.
M. Z.
Not the most stocked coop in Leeds and parking is terribly tight but staff are usually friendly and happy to help. Post office also in coop but come early as there can be a bit of a queue.
B. J.
Open early I went at 6am and was able to get things before work
d. c.
My go to place for anything and everything, they have almost everything you'll need. Except for if you are an Asian, you may not get ALL you need 😊, if you understand the Asian needs😁. But its a great place for Students as CoOp offers you a 10% off on your bill with a NUS extra card and an extra 5% with your CoOp card. You don't need to be a student to own a CoOp card. It's a big deal of you often shop at CoOp and you have these two cards. The CoOp card adds pennies back to your card, that way the more you collect, you get to spend it at the store. It's a friendly place with a small team, that's on their feet round the clock, it may not seem that busy but trust me, the assistants are often seeing refilling shelves 🙄. So if you find something you like you better grab it else you'll have to wait until its back on the shelf 😉. The place is always tidy with no spillage at any corner. I'll add pics a lil later as I have to search for em 👍

I always find what I want and need from the Coop. Its near friendly staff and the renovations have even made things better.

Co-op is really good value for money , but this time l went to collect a Parcel as it is a Hermes Parcel Shop too. Very friendly staff and nice to get Service with a smile for a change. Will use this facility in the future too
C. M.
Open all the time, convenient and a good selection of stuff.
Most of the staff don't seem happy and are unfriendly apart from the older guy, he's a legend.
It is FULL of of trampy, smelly students though. They all absolutely reek of weed and often fall asleep in the queue.
C. C.
Good for everyday shopping, a wide range of drinks and snacks. Good organic fruits and vegetables, meal deals and a wide range of vegan food.
F. S.

D. W.
Decent shop. They've managed covid controls really well.
D. S.
Full of students and people that wear shorts in winter, but its got a good selection of foods and other items you might need such as: actually idk what else they sell maybe toilet roll. Thank you P.s the price is ok
T. S.
O M G what can I say!? Incredible. First these magical opening doors somehow KNEW I was going to walk through them and opened spontaneously without me putting a finger on them! Then as I passed through into the shop... WOW, everything was lit up as if it were broad daylight inside. I had just walked in from the dark night, how do they do this?? Then, well what can I say, I didn't even have to slaughter any animals myself to get fresh meat, it was right there in what I can only describe as a huge cow trough which held winter within itself!! As I walked to exchange this meat for a few gold and silver coins, I was met by a charming gentleman who asked whether i needed an extra bag for my meat, I couldn't believe it, I said 'omg'! Anyway, as I left the place, I felt very sad and knew I would never forget the time I had spent there. Thank you co op, thank you.
