Reviews of Atariya Foods West Acton
R. S.
The sashimi was pretty nice and the staff were really friendly! Highly recommend this place if you like Japanese food. The fish is on the slightly pricier side but it tastes really good!
G. C.
This is my favourite Japanese store. It is my source of Sushi grade fish as I make my own nigiri. Staff are polite. Submitting this review makes me want to go there and satisfy my craving for a yellow tail, fatty tuna, salmon, octopus and yellow tail.
K. Z. N.
When you go to Atariya ! You go all out to shop ! One of the best place to source really fresh sushi fish! Sashimi grade raw fish! Look at the sushi party I had at home buying all the raw fish from the best Japanese fish monger in town :) btw it’s better than the average sushi place :)
N.
Amazing quality of fish, always come here if I'm going to make sushi or ceviche and if you order in advance over the phone they can prepare the type, quantity and cut of the fish too 👌They also have really nice Sake and plum wine.
A.
We go to Atariya Shop to buy sashimi grade salmon because is the best to prepare poke at home. Yes, is not cheap but the quality is just fantastic.
A little advice here: If you need to go during the weekend get ready to wait outside during more than 15-20 minutes, it it's raining take an umbrella with you. The store is quite small and is only allowing 2 customers inside due to covid restrictions. Face-masks are mandatory.
W.
Really helpful and knowledgeable staff at the counter.
The fish is expensive but it's fantastic value for the quality. Down the road in white city the same sashimi grade will cost you about 30% more.
You can order as much or as little as you like (a few of my orders were under 40g) and they'll cut it into sashimi for you there and then unless you ask them not to.
Z. Y. (.
A great selection of fresh fish for sashimi, fairly priced. The staffs are very friendly and professional.
A. A.
Probably some of the best sushi in London at an incredibly reasonable price. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, the food and produce are fresh and very high quality.
F.
The go-to store for the Japanese neighbourhood with quality sashimi and seafood at amicable prices.
P. B.
🐟 Dish Small Japanese fishmonger shop. Popular with local Japanese community. They prepare sashimi a'la carte.
J. L.
As a fishmonger, this shop is incredible. Others have mentioned that the prices are more expensive but this is because you are paying for sashimi grade fish. Their selection of sashimi grade fish is so good - I counted at least 10 varieties when I last went. The quality of the sashimi is so good: firm and fresh.
They have a very small selection of Japanese products in store but this shop is all about the 🎏
a. f. t. r.
I have tried the sashimi they had and the guy who was cutting it helped us pick the best ones, I have tried all of them and liked 90% of them, I am very picky when it comes to food and managed to eat all of them without gagging. I loved the food and will be back for more.
A. S.
Great sushi-grade fish. Very good selection of Japanese food products. The staff are really friendly and attentive. The fishmonger is in tip-top condition. I have been a regular here for some years now.
M. V.
My local fishmonger. Cannot get wrong, they have the best fish. Really lucky that I have it closeby! I always buy the squid tubes and I always found the quality outstanding, as well as that of other fresh fish bought in the past. Their gyoza selection and Japanese sauces is great. Recommended
D. M.
Fab little Japanese supermarket in West Acton. Fish and meat counters always look mouth-watering and amazingly fresh! Their lunch bowls are also great, and a very fair price!
S. D.
It's a tiny shop but for lovers of authentic Japanese cookery this is the real deal. The staff are super helpful and their products are top notch.
Half the store is taken up by the fish counter where you can get top quality sushi grade fish cut to order, as well as in season shell fish and Japanese fish such as samma. The rest of the shop stocks mostly essentials such as seasonings, miso paste, natto, a variety of rices, etc. They also sell some cooked products like yakitori, croquettes, etc.
Well worth a visit.
A. E.
Fabulous helpful assistant manager took time to attend to all of my peculiar requirement! Really really good!
L. R.
A small store a little out of the way with a limited range of Japanese goods. The fish looked delicious but unfortunately we didn’t try. We did take some cooked food for later though which was reasonably priced and tasty.
T. C.
Great selection of seafood, including special sashimi cuts, such as fatty tuna belly. Very good hot food - chicken skewers, breaded prawns, and especially delicious fried black cod. Also has a small but good selection grocer section with noodles, soya sauce, miso paste, etc. A great place for the occasional treat for us.
L. N. 3.
Best sushi and sashimi in the area, super fresh and tasty. The shop is small but has a big fresh sashimi selection and really friendly staff!
K. T.
No Japanese know this Japanese supermarket in London. I called supermarket but actually fish shop, especially RAW fish is amazing. Bit far from central of London but it's worth to try once if you like Japanese food.
F. F.
Unfortunately, fishmongers like this where you can buy execellent fish at reasanable price are rare in London. The sashimi is outstanding, be early as the small shop can be quite busy after 12:00 They have also vegs, some meats and a wide range of imported japanese groceries
D. D.
I love the West Acton Atari-Ya. The staff are great and the seafood is outstanding - a little birdie once told me that Atari-Ya's wholesale department provide a lot of seafood to Nobu. For myself, it is so simple - I cook the rice, season it, put it aside to cool and, while it is cooling, pop down to Atari-Ya to select my fish. The bonus: Tell them how you're going to eat the fish and they will slice it for you in the manner of the dish to save you the preparation, then neatly package. Then I go home and I am ready to make sashimi, nigiri or donburi straight away. They also have a range of precooked fish and side dishes, a small range of refrigerated and frozen goods, prepared seaweed salads and a few other necessary items including real wasabi packaged in easy to use tubes (not the green-dyed horseradish mash that is found everywhere) - get some, it is so small, but it makes a massive, massive difference. The prices are also fantastic. Compared to eating out you can feed four people for the price of one person at a sushi bar. Plus, if you travel by tube, it is literally a 30 second walk from the station. A tip though: It can be very crowded close to dinner time, especially on a Saturday, when all the local Japanese are buying the ingredients for dinner as fresh as they can get them.
J. v. R.
Beautiful authentic store, high quality raw fish and more, loving it...!! I often take the bike from Chiswick just to pick up my lunch, thanks for changing my life style Atariya and making me more healthy!
C.
Really fresh sashimi! My go to place when I want to make sushi at home. I normally come here to get nigiri slices of various fishes and whatever other Japanese groceries I needed to make sushi at home.
K. T.
Wonderful Japanese foods shop. You can buy excellent Sashimi(salmon, tuna, mackerel). My recommendation is frozen Japanese-style sausages. It can't buy in London at all.
M. K.
Best reasonably priced sashimi in London!
L. N. u.
Lovely local shop with fresh sashimi, plenty of Japanese snacks and groceries and the staff are very friendly.
A. K.
Japanese fishmonger with a very good selection of fish as a well as a decent range of other Japanese groceries. Very good service and products are a bit cheaper than in Japanese supermarkets on Piccadilly.
A.
Great helpful staff, they happily helped me in finding Sushi Rice when I was trying to learn how to make sushi, and they even helped me find a few other things I needed to make sushi more easily and that was very nice. Great variety.
M. U.
Small shop but with nice amount of Japanese food and snacks. Fish quality is very fresh - something you can't find that much around in London.
L.
Friendly staff and nice food. The selection is small but nicely built, you are guaranteed to find whatever you are looking for and they will have the best option available. If you are looking for the dankest munchies in Acton this place is king.
L. W.
A haven for the Japanese community locally. Staff are really helpful. If there is something specific you want or need the staff will try their best to get it for you.
Definitely worth a visit.
G. R.
Very good selection of ready-to-eat sashimi and a small section dedicated to lunch boxes. Will surely visit again soon as prices are good too
R. N.
Good selection of all things Japanese, especially fresh seafood and specially cut meats. Problem is that this is a bit small and therefore the offering is very limiting. I prefer TK Trading a mile NorthEast.
J. K.
Best sashimi grade fish in London. Expect to pay the premium for great fish!
M. M.
If you want Sashimi for home-made sushi, so-called “Temaki”, here is the best place to buy it.
S. S.
Small shop. I feel crazy they only allow 2 people in the shop during covid -19. I won’t go back there. You have to queue long time for small shopping.
V. C.
Great selection of first and the price is fairly reasonable. Quality of the fish are great too. Owner greets you with a great smile and treat every customer with fantastic services
d. t.
a great local shop to satisfy your japanese food needs. we got top quality sashimi from the counter, freshly sliced, and for a fair price
A. S.
It's amazing how many products from Japan as well as fresh fish, cut right there, packed into a small store. The prices are a bit high, though.
L. P.
Always superb fish. Not as delicately cut as usual, but fresh and tasty sashimi.
M.
Superb sushi grade fish, authentic products, ingredients, staff, and customers! Reminds me why I love Japanese food so much. Thank you!

J. S. H.
The only place I know where you can get sashimi for a reasonable price. Note though, this isn't a restaurant. It's more a mini-supermarket.
D. T.
A great selection of Japanese food, a large deli counter too. Could do with being bigger, tbh. Staff oh so Japanese polite ☺️
