Reviews of Chrisp Street Market

Good ol' Chrisp Street Market, were it once was the place to shop for locals, time has taken its toll and the 'redevelopment' was long overdue...
At the current moment, it has a large range of shops/services based within, from Eastenders Pie & Mash, the Post Office, JP's Cafe to Wings Chinese Café, enough to cater to most needs I reckon. Will these be here after the planned finish of 2027? Who knows...
Getting here via public transport, All Saints (Docklands Light Railway) or buses, (N)15, 115, D6, N551 from Chrisp Street Market (Stop B) or the 109 from Chrisp Street Market (Stop J).

This one seller was very polite but asked me to watch his stall while he went to his van, and another on a different stall was just in for a quick sale. I told her a size 12 and I think that she gave me a size 14 because the trouser she gave is a little big... Just be careful and look before you purchase so that they don't give you the wrong size that you want, just be wary, they are on the stalls all day
A.
Some days they have great stools out in their market. Good range of shops and local businesses. From beauty to home to food etc. Only downside is the market could be improved massively
A. U.
This market got everything you need for your home. Food, cleaning, household consumables and small maintenance items. All at affordable prices
U. N.
Good and can get all types of fruit, vegetables, meat, clothing, there is a tailor shop as well, groceries, savers, fastfood, restaurants etc. Can get everything in one go.
S. S.
Best Moroccan barber there. Vegetables, fruits, occasional festival, a lot of friendly junkies asking for a change, quality of goods vary. But is it not the beauty of any market? Furniture, cafés, laundrette, occasional killings 😂
Hit it!
A. L.
I shall be sad when Chrisp Street Market is renovated in case it looses it's charm and character. I like the stall holders and would hate to think that their rents or rates would rise. I'm new to this area of London and I've really grown very fond the experience of shopping in this location.
C. I.
Always a good place to visit if you need things for your home, pets or your hungry. Market stalls and shops , post office ,pubs and shops like Iceland's, co-op, boots and Greg's you can't go wrong..
J. W.
Cracking little market opposite All Saints Station. Loads of little shops and restaurants. A couple of Pie and Mash shops. Beautiful East End delicacy. Must try if you've never had it before!
K. H.
This market should improve their performance.customer service should improved. They should use credit card machine so some people can buy who does not have coins.
R. A.
This is a pretty good market, which lots of fruit and veg stalls as well as stalls selling general goods. The shops also are quite good at stocking almost all general foods. There is also an Iceland's which is really awesome. Plenty of good bakeries too, and 2 cash points; one by the post office and one by Barclays Bank.
R. C.
Friendly bespoke environment where you get the best of both worlds without the large crowds and can browse without getting the jostling experienced in larger markets
D. H.
Great mix if stalls and variety of shops offering good range and value for money
s. a.
Good & my favourite marker place with fruits, vegetables ,shops , car park and more

R. R.
Lovely little market! Great for veg and cheap food options!
E. C.
You can get fresh veggies and fruits from here in a reasonable price. Good place
M. D. I.
Looking forward to market refurbishment. It has been a long time without any special care and looks abandoned. Works seem to have started by the end of 2021 when the market was expected to be fully refurbished starting from 2018, yes that project had some delays.
K. C.
Has changed so much but can find some lovely little bargains
M. M.
well recommended, for every day shoppings, indoor & out door.
A.
always a great place to visit.
A. A. L.
A good and friendly market. The products are genuine and cheaper. A lot of household and designer brands at affordable prices.
s. p.
A food market with good shops and stalls a good market to visit
S. S.
Great place with lots of fresh fruits and vegetable stalls. There is a fresh fish stall as well as three poultry shops, an Iceland, boots as well as co operatives. Brilliant place for the locals.
M. A.
Small market in the middle of the square... It's very nice
B. A.
It is a local market. They are selling groceries.
M. S.
Lots of different stalls with good prices. All kinds of shops and cafés as well. They added a café with play area for kids recently which is amazing! Can't wait for covid to buzz off so I can go there with my little one
K. K.
A Place where you get all kinds of Asian vegetables especially the Indian.
Price is cheaper than the supermarket and local asian stores.
Crowded place during weekends.
Neatness not maintained well
Vegetables brought here should be consumed within 5 days.
You will get all kinds of clothes at very cheaper prices but are of low quality.
You can find furniture and household items
A. I.
Great but need more neat and clean.
A. B.
Good market with good produce and different array of products from vegetables to gadgets and clothes.
Z. C.
Usually a vibrant place, even during the pandemic was pretty busy..
It has everything you expect/want from a market but as this one is within an estate, there are also plenty of other shops surrounding it.
S. a. S.
Clothing’s, Groceries and beautiful street market
S. Q.
It's OK for food stuff and fruit and vegetables, clothing aimed at particular group. Some nice little cafes nearby for a coffee and something quick to eat
I. H.
Very good for Asian fruit and veg. Unfortunately lacks variety if looking for anything else and all the stalls more or less sell the same products. However, it's worth looking around as some are more fresh. What is on offer is usually of good quality and excellent value for money.
Apart from the market there is Iceland and Co-op supermarkets as well as a couple of butchers and furniture shops which are worth a visit.
s. R.
I go often to buy fresh vegetables from the market in the morning.. good place, lots of shop around ..
E. H.
Rustic neighborhood's place, where you can get fruits and veggies, snackses, cheap clothing ala made in China and fake jewelry. There are some small cafes, groceries, butchers, and fast food kiosks. Boots, Iceland and Savers are next to it. Overall: a place you can find almost everything at cheaper price.
M. C.
Love this place could do with few more stools but all in all clean friendly and cheap.
B. L.
The market looks the same as it does few years ago. However there have been an increase in Bangladeshi produce over the years.
Co-op is there, no major supermarket. The area will is under planning to build new buildings and more or less an Estate. The local housing bidders and tenders are Harca Housing Association (give them 1 star).
R. K.
Different types of shops and libraries and a gym available
J. U.
Its got markets, library, pharmacy, post office, dentist, butchers, brik and brak shops. Everything you need for essentials. Good transport links. Hard to find parking
R. H.
Chrisp Street Market has got everything you might need or want so go and try it
R. A.
Loved this place. Specially Open vegetable market is awesome.
M. I.
Can get most things from this place, very convenient
J. C.
Lovely little market with lots of fresh produce! Chinese takeaway and other bits and bobs too
Support the local community!!
M.
Fresh fruit and veg are good, loads of scarves, women's and children's clothes for sale and the stall that sells rugs, large and small (as well as cushions etc) is excellent - worth going there specifically to get one from him. I'm usually down there for Boots (prescriptions. Really friendly staff) Iceland (toilet roll) and the Idea Store (brilliant facility). There's a fabric shop and a stall in the market but I prefer the shops in Watney Market.
A. S. T.
A nice eastend market and shops boasting 2 pie n mash shops market open 6 days aweek
A. H.
I Miss The Old Chrisp Market Where The Market Was Vibrant And Woolies Was Still There.
It Needs More Investment.
There Are Toilets Available And An Idea Store And An Iceland Store.
R. R. R.
Fab place to get all your fresh vegetables from? Have a few good stalls there and various shops multicultural, great atmosphere. Love doing last min shopping there. Very handy to have a one stop shop there aswell as a big post office? Have great food options too.
J. S.
I've been coming here for years to get bits and pieces. I didn't realise there is a car park opposite the co-op. It's free for the first 30 mins.
K. J.
I love the atmosphere of this bazaar-like spot. You can find everything here.
Z. M.
Friendly community market, variety of products and fresh produce in the marketplace, Iceland and Co-op, charity stores, eateries, post office, off-licence, public toilets, library etc...
K. D.
Normally visit for pie mash, sometimes browse market which has a variety of items for sale.
a. b.

s. S.
Small but good shopping centre
S. G.
Haven't visited for a long time, but the market still offers a great variety of merchandise at keen prices. Finished shopping with a some Ham, Eggs & Chips in JP's- first rate! SG.
J. B.
Went into Maureen's, delicious
J. H.
Really good place for the local community 👍
S. H.
Local stuff. Haven't been in this part of London before. As a tourist it was interesting to see this neighborhood with many local and multicultural food and clothes shops. You can actually see real people there that live there. Can reach it really easily
B. J.
Cheap food good stalls good shops. Get it a while you can coz a tidal wave of gentrification will sweep it away before long
Y. L.
the price of vegetables are good and more selection. But only 30 minutes free parking so you have to be quick.
W. S.
Love this market. Can find fresh produce Monday through Saturday in the open market, there is an idea store for those of us who love a library. Has coop, Iceland, Halal meat stores, a shoe store, furniture shop, fabric shop. Stalls have hijabs, abayas, carpets and other household items.. Cheap vegetables and fruits.. Perfect for my weekly shop
Y. S.
Just like street market , one can get fresh veggies and fruits from here in reasonable price.
T.
Lots of shops. Good place to buy different times of items including furniture shops & post office services. Cheaper price but little bit dirty area too. Hopefully council will look after it properly.
W. L.
Have grown up here but moved away 5 years ago. So much has changed yet it still retains its legit market local flavour. Still got fresh asian fruit and veg, bakeries, pie and mash, fish and chips, hipster cafes and a couple of pubs. It's proper east end.
o. s.
A nice little market selling different things and shops around and a play area for the kids also sometimes they have entertainment on with music like the swing 1950's which was a great lough there was people dancing there and a band playing music. It is also a multicultural area with people from different backgrounds get on. And there is also public toilets for men and women and a library.
S.
Mostly stalls selling fresh fruit and veg and a mish mash of small shops. Not a great variety of food to eat. The market is in dire need of a upgrade. Something in the vein of petticoat lane market would be brilliant for this area.
s. m.
Chrisp Street Market is a place where communities come together there's a lot of fruit and veg shop there it is pretty cheap everything is for £1 and it is fresh there is other shops there it is a pretty decent place unfortunately they are going to demolish it this is a place of History where people came and went but the place is still there but unfortunately it's not going to be here Soon it is not going to be so shall we everything good has to end and maybe replace it with something better

Got some late reduction meal deals
i. s.
Great place to shop. Not a better community anywhere else
N. A.
The market looks dated, could do with modernisation. The busiest place seems to be the local Iceland. Market stalls are good for fresh veg. Has a Somerfield tucked away. Below are a list of some of the names you may recognise along with popular shops.
IDEA store
Barclays bank
Iceland
Percy Ingle
Main post office branch
Boots
Butchers shops
Somerfield
Vegetable stalls
Chinese and Indian food outlets
F. L. w. L.
Very affordable and good quality products.
C. L.
Dirty no social distancing wearing of mask practically non exsistant only in certain shops. But to be fair I have only been there about 3 times this year .
J. S.
Small market with some fruit and veg set in a rather brutalist open shopping centre. There is an Iceland and a Co-op here too, as well as an Idea Store.
D. K.
Lots of great fruit and vegetable selection, with a couple of different meat shops. Clothing, kitchenware, snacks, fast ethnic foods are also available. Not very clean around the area, but great prices.
S. I.
Its not amazing places but they do have a wide range of fruits and veg. Clothing and accessories are visible too
There are food places near the market also idea store. Iceland and shoe zone is there.
R. B. B. W. B.
Over crowded ,normally to be honest this time very poor clothes on the market I likely buy online rather than outside. ..😏😏😏
m. d.
Want for pie and mash nice little Market as well friendly as well
E. v. W.
Great place to get your fresh vegetables, and maybe a cheap scarf for £1 for your wife. Other than that it's all a little street market in tourist Barcelona (or substitute any touristy city). Everything is mass produced somewhere probably by children.
It's nice to have the option of fresh market goods bear where you live.
A. K.
Has a verity of shops mostly independent. I would say avoide a furniture shop called A.H furniture. Brought something from there and they took ages sending it over a week late with no phone call even through they said they il call. It's on the corner of the market.
R. S. (.
Most of the shops you need here there's an idea store to study menu places to eat and a load of stalls selling everything you could need for a house. Some pubs a playground in the market for the kid and adults to have a rest up. It has toilet's and I believe baby changing facilities for all you new born babys out there. Ps there are some changes to the hole market in the plans for the next few years some shops are going and new one are being built in place. All in all its a really nice market and I do love a bakery. Ummmm sausage roll.
M. W.
Maureen's Pie and Mash it's luvverly.
M. B. D.
Chrisp Street Market is what it is. A couple of secret pleasures . Savaloy and Peas pudding in the covered market. Loved it when I was between 5 & 7 months . Now 57 & it Just gets better. Also the best Pie & Mash in the East End. PUKKA
L. T.
There are varieties of stalls, from butchers, seafood, fruits and vegetables, clothes, kitchens utensils, housewares and hot meals. Just needed more staff to enforce the social distancing aspects.
N. A.
More like can buy everything from this market. Clothes to food plus car parking and bank post office, furniture shop. More n more
G. C.
Quick shopping sorted at one place which has got variety of options to choose from - food, clothing, household items, and many more. I love the Chinese Food at Crisp Street.
V. A.
Great little market, it has a good mix of shops and produce sellers. Grew up around these types of markets so I find them great but if you haven't been to one before don't get put off and have a go
K. R.
Basically an old market. Unfortunatly the street side of the market is quite run down. Where once the stalls sold quality produce there are just negative attitude sales people selling stuff i have very little interest in. Gone is Steve the music stall as well as a good women's cloths stall. I must say though. There is a nice old fashion Englishy type street cafe which is very good. Do a nice cuppa and egg sandwich. Also a very good pet shop next to the CO OP store. The pet shop is run by lovely people with knowledge of pet requirements. There is a small car park in Crisp street but over all very difficult to park around this area.
M. A.
Best market ever. There is no other market in the country that embodies localisation as this one. From eating in local businesses such as ‘curry hut’ to furniture shopping, this place is a breath of fresh air for those suffocated by the unhealthy levels of CO2 that we are accustomed to in the East End.
N. J.
Lots of shops. Good place to buy different times of items including furniture shops & post office services.I specially go there to go to Best Sellers. All that you need for your house at reasonable prices
J. M.
Like a normal market nothing special
J. T.
Loads of stalls selling mostly local Bengali fruit, veg and meat n fish.also stalls selling Carpet and clothes
Great bargains on house hold items.
There's a Excellent corner shop that's been their for years that sells all things to furnish your home . and a Co-op
Z. J.
Great choice for fruit and veg shopping (lots of "pound a bowl" stalls). You can get 4 kg of onions for only 1.50! Check out Wing's for cheap but delicious Chinese food.
C. H.
Really nice market with a variety of clothing, food and goods stalls - great Christmas decorations and music too
T. G.
Not really much variety in the market anymore. Clothing is very Asian/Muslim aimed as is jewelry stalls etc. Still have pie and mash shops which are nice and Ivys cafe is very nice and great low prices.
P.
A few shops small marker glad it has a saers store!
b. k.
Although, at first sight, it looks like the market caters for predominantly one culture, look twice and you will start to see little gems dotted around, from old school cafes, second hand furniture stores, to one of the few pet stores in Tower Hamlets! More to it than meets the eye!
d. h.
A square in need of gentrification. Rather sad area really, mixed people, some good, some not so. Generally quite typical of depressed Tower Hamlets that lacks investment, not just in infrastructure but in people. Poverty is a major trapping of the area with the older migrant communities and newly arrived European communities. Not really the best area for a professional and mainly for low income service workers, which is shameful, because good communities should cater for all economic groups. It's not well connected, regardless of the DLR. I notice a lot of scam behaviour from a range of services in the area from the letting agency I used, as well is in independent shops. It's a sad and mistrustful community and having moved to a new district of Londo, it's just not typical of London. Government should inject money into this area, especially by increasing safety, education and skills for the people, but also cracking down of crime and petty activities.
S. S.
I visit this place mostly for fresh groceries. There is parking as well free for 30 mins with payment option for more. Nice market.
J. W.
Great local market with great public transport. Bus & DLR across the road.
Has the co op, Iceland, library & public loos.
Plenty of places to eat, charity shop & good selection of stalls.
P. H.
Love iceland supermarket
M. C.
Good place for quick shopping of everyday items. Meat, veg. Stalls with various items. Clothing , caffe. A bank, post office and Iceland store if you want to buy more. A chemist and hardware shops.
J. L.
Today I thought I would pop into the Market it's a memorable place for me to visit... I picked up a few bargains from a lovely lady Trish.. Went on to treat myself to a Sausage and onion sandwich so delish.. Another lovely lady served me.. I would say it was worth the visit to be around such nice people.. I'll be back very soon.. You can take the Girl out of the EastEnd but you can't take the EastEnd out of the Girl....
....
V. V.
Its very very Good place for All Asians to Purchase All types of VEGETABLES are for very low cost.
H. M.
Very useful market for locals where you can buy everything you need. As a visitor of London you can have a stroll through this diverse market, however if you have to go out of your way, you can do without. Post Office, Coop, and Iceland are all nearby.
L. N.
Good choice of items, found fresh veg/fruit to cost more then your local store and not yet ready for eating. Friendly halpful, but will rush you in to buying.
G. M.
Love the everyday contribution people put in the market where it's going for grocery or vegetables or everyday fresh beef, chicken, lamb and also lovely fresh fish from Bangladesh!
K. B.
Been living in that area for 10 years my old home, moved out 6 years ago. Can't visit this place often but do sometimes. Like this market as got shoes shop, furniture shop, Iceland, library etc....
P.
Been using this market for over 25 years visiting with my mum and brother lots on offer like fruit, vegetables, various meats, there is also plenty of food options and also shops for various clothing items.
#PropaGfx
P. J.
Good place for vegetables, fish available but no many choices. Cheap clothes and plenty takeaways are there. Barclays bank is a few steps away which is very handy.
k. m.
I love this market place you can find so much here. Although it did used to be alot better but good fresh fruit and veg stalls are good.
A. H.
Best in 10 miles neighbourhood for fresh vegetables and fruits. No complain about the price. You will enjoy a wide range of £1 bag of vegetables and fruits.
D. R.
Good market to much fruit and veg would like to see a few more other stalla
N. Y.
Old market but okay
J. x.
It's ok overall I would rate it less but I guess I got the products I require from the place and that's about it not major surprise not major excitement from the location
M. E. O.
Best open market for fresh vegetables perhaps in the east London! They are the cheapest. I have been shipping here for more than 10 years. You can park for 30 minutes free at Cooperative park just 1min walk from the market. After 30 min you have to pay £1 for 30min more. You can also do your Atm things and post office. There are 2 Halal butcher shops. A big DIY shop you can find almost everything! Also Bargain Shop has a wide variety of DIYs very cheap!
a. b.
Traditional working class market, serving the local working class community. You will find everything you will need here and at incredibly low prices.
This market is now under threat of unwanted regeneration by Poplar Harca and the local labour council.
Visit now before they kill the heart and soul of this community, to build luxury flats that people round here cannot afford.
This market certainly needs some investment, but their plan is to create "the new Shoreditch" and they are planning to impose this on us without consultation.
M. A.
Best pie and mash shop in East London. Best 🍆 aubergine curry in East London and great opendoor, atmospheric old Eastend Market - slowly being depleted by modernity! So! Lers back and support old skool traditional trading.
J. M. (.
Good for cheap veggies and fruit amongst other market type items
R. M.
Has a bit of everything - fruit & veg stalls, clothes stalls, fish, grocery stores, a library, council one stop shop, kids play area, Iceland, Co-op, Boots, nail salon, fish and chips, cake shop, and more. Parking available at the Co-op car park which is free for 30 minutes only, if you don't leave by 30 minutes you definitely get a ticket.
K. H.
Like most other reviews, I agree. If you want fresh fruit and vegetables at cheap and reasonable prices, this is the place to go. There's local supermarkets, Iceland And Co-op.
r. c.
It has nice collection of fresh fruits and vegetables at reasonable price but definitely needs to be more organized and maintained in terms of cleanliness
L. M.
good place for your everyday grocery , vegetables are at reasonable prices. you have few bakery to choose from, An idea store, few butchers halal and non halal
M.
Lots of different traders all selling different things. It also has a square of shops such as newsagents and a small supermarket. Great for the locals as there is plenty of places to do their shop.
M. P.
Few good stalls. Quite a few shops. It's small so it's not a day outting. Foods good, pie n mash shop, and other cafes. Nice place to visit.
E. C.
It doesn't look pretty at all, complete mess, but I have to say that there is a good variety of vegetables e fruits, very affordable prices.
S. P.
Grab a look at an east end market. Mainly Asian stalls and also some fab old style cafes with Artsy events . Earthy cheap real. I like it. Soon to be revamped ... more regeneration and corporatisation
D. B.
The market is in dire need of regeneration. That being said, it has everything needed for locals including great pie and mash (Maureen’s), good coffee (Kafe 1788), a butcher, a bakers, pharmacy, library, post office, etc etc
K. W.
Good mini market to buy groceries and smaller basic items, it's in a useful location but nothing to special to get around or things to see.
S. K.
Really nice example of typical east London market
J. K.
Pretty good here, a lot of places to eat, you can buy clothes, an iceland is here, Greggs, boots. There is a library, with toilet facilities and it's open to the public.
M. M.
Nice local market. Free 30 min parking. Great for fresh fruit n veg. Plus has idea store library to visit with the kids.
C. C.
I get everything l need from co op
A. W.
My partner and I visit Chrisp street mainly for an ivy s hotdog or to go to the pie and mash. A lot of the stalls are very similar. I don't feel really comfortable there but it's where my partner grew up.
A. B.
Lots of stools with different things. Local shops near by for groceries.
c.
Not really worth travelling to but If you live in the area it's good to get your everyday bits from. Good fruit and veg stalls and decent butchers nearby (non-halal and halal).
H. N.
Small local market with all the essentials from fruit and veg to rugs and blankets and fresh fish. Co-op, Iceland, Boots, Greggs and Post Office onsite, as well as halal and non halal butchers and. Key cutters, DIY and shoe shop along with Barclays bank brand round thr corner. A selction of takeaways from indian, chinese, chicken and chips and pizza. With small car park located opposite market for Co-op customers with 30 mins free parking, any longer requires pay and display.
L. B.
Pet shop on the market edge is brilliant. Wonderful, helpful ladies, excellent prices / service / range
S. U.
Good for fruit and veg and food outlets
s. H.
Great place if you want highstreet clothes items for kids that's £5 each managed to kit my daughter's wardrobe for £20 bargain!!!!!
S. G.
Chrisp Street Market is a well sort out market for the community literally everything you need is there such as Supermarkets, and Shopping Stools that sell you the essentials you need, I personally prefer this market to any other one out there this is because they are a well organised market. To short up you should go to Chrisp Street Market whenever you can, it's sort out, it's clean and they tend to give you the best customer service
a. f.
Great for cheap quality fruit and veg. Butchers and bakers. Pet shop. Street food. Pie and mash. Boots. Library. Fish mongers. And plenty more.
F. H.
Old school Market style shopping. Varied in shops; barbers, co-op supermarket, laundrette, Gregg's, Percy Ingle, Bargain Zone (like Poundland), Meat Bazar, Shoe Zone, Post Office, Barclays Bank, Iceland and many more!
T.
They have eveeything a british market needs even pie and mash and a bargain zone, aswell as a post office. Also matter of luck i went to bestsellers where sometime they have good or bad things every week and found some old disney infinity characters to snatch up.
N. S.
The vibes here are immaculate and there are many shops and a library
b. f.
When I was young this market had everything you wanted but today most of the old school has gone meaning ken fruit and veg and Dave all gone their is to many stalls fruit and veg competing against each other their is Ivys for good old English breakfast famous years ago for savoloys and pease pudding and sausage and onion rolls their is a few cafes Chinese indian and a English cafe next to curtain shop the best is around the corner Maureen's pie mash it's the best in poplar further up you have captains cabin fish and chips they over do it on chips a lot other than that asian shops and stalls nut will miss it when closed down and moved..
S. N.
Good market fresh fruits and vegetables. All your grocery can be found in there. Idea store library and poplar Harca office is in next to the market.
D. H.
My favourite place for pie and mash
C. T. J.
A small nice market in tower hamlets . Few street shops and food places . Maureen pie is a nice place to have pie and smashed potatoes. Have a free car parking opposite for 30 minutes
V. k.
A very happening place, variety of shops under one roof. My favorite are the fresh veggie shops, pet shop, many more and a small play area to keep the kids entertained.
R. W.
Typical local market with a variety of stalls offering food and supplies - not all sellers offer the best quality, so you have to take a closer look at the produce before you buy
J.
Local market big part of the community. Good vegetable stalls. Will not be the same when it is gone.
K. D.
Best pie and mash shop still going to date! except the one that closed in exmouth market some time back! English run which is always a bonus!
A. K.
Great place to visit friendly people good old east end hospitality. Can buy anything here and I mean anything. Generally competitively priced.
J. B.
It's a nice little market for clothes. A few food shops nearby if you want something to eat but not really anything else there.
C. M.
Not the biggest market.
Not much that really caught my eye.
Parking is free for 30 minutes so okay if you want to quickly pick something up.
G. G.
Typical east london market. You can get fruit & veg for "pound a bowl". Has all useful places like post office, cafes, supermarkets, locksmith, brick and brac, pie n mash.
C. A.
Many of the same stores. Could use a bit more variety. I specially go there to go to Best Sellers. All that you need for your house at reasonable prices
S. A.
Lots of Asian grocery at the market stalls here at great prices! Very convenient.
D. F. L.
Local business were the heart beat of community. Sadly they need our support more than ever
M. Y.
Like this local market. Lots of fresh fruit and veg. Even has a small play area for kids. Like the chess board, table tense facilities with the market.
A. R.
For a quick bite different to your regular pfc, checkout captians table. Cheap and cheerful and tasty. Low on salt so help yourself..
M. G.
Enough Bargains to be had, Co op is more expensive than most in the area though.
K. R.
Mon - Sat market, can get fresh produce, including Indian fruits and vegetables. Has a free 30min Co-op parking opp side.
L. m.
Not many shops bit scruffy stalls all sell the same stuff
C. H.
A good place to buy everything you need for a cheap price
M. B.
Chrisp Street Market is one of the few remaining authentic market town squares from the 1950's, it may look look dated but it offers a number of Bengladeshi shops and market stores offering a a wide range of exotic groceries, two butcher's shops, and a retro launderette and family ran cafe serving all day breakfast that wouldn't be out of place on the set of East Enders.
K. a.
I have been at chips street market so many times and there are a few places to grab some lunch. Like curry hut or real tasty and not forgetting greggs
M. U.
A good convenient place to shop, very cheap products, however they are not all authentic. You definitely get your money's worth.
P. J. M.
Small market. Its been there for decades. It used to be on the the actual street called Chrisp Street before the second world war and up until the late 60s to the early 70s when it was moved to the square where it s today.
It has a range of shops from grocery to convenient stores to cafes and two supermarkets,
the Co-op and Icelands and its own main Post Office.
It also had great transport links with many bus routes passing by with stops all around giving you great links to surrounding areas like Stratford and commercial road down to Watney Market.
It also had DLR stations close by and the closest being All Saints DLR station with next being Poplar station. All these links can take you to Canary Wharf and its shopping centre.
This market has a rich history as does all of the East End of London.
I am from Poplar and was born and bread here and gave been for 45yrs. Why don't you come along and given it a try and don't forget to checkout the "IDEA" Store.
M. M.
Come company email company emails this I under but mango good it from a is him up in ends going underground mph UHF most more go Manxman been used the within most more go Manxman
P. B.
Rough around the edges but a living market at least. That serves the community well.
T.
Great place for house shopping of all kinds, including grocery, furniture and clothes
M. R.
I've been there just to get something printed. Got the job done but the place looks very old, damaged and dirty.
Was very empty but I have been there at 7am so this must of been the reason why it was so empty.
This is not a place I'd recommend for shopping unless you already live very close and need to buy some food.
K. H.
Great for fresh fruit and veg mostly Asian stalls and one white guy who's been there for decades but they all live in harmony.
L. W.
Lots of very cheap fruit and veg in the market square with local cafes surrounding the market. Cheap parking (free if you make a minimum purchase in Coop nearby).
R. D. W.
If you are not a local you won’t like it, because it’s there for the local community. Soon however, the insidious Metropolitan Liberal Elite will develop it, and the horrid East End ruffians will just need to go away!
Do people really believe the rather sterile vision of Poplar portrayed in ‘call the mid wife’ ever existed.
N. U.
Lovely atmosphere with Cafe's,fastfoods, fresh vegetables shops, groceries including fresh and frozen fish, chicken and meat shops, clothing, shoes, pharmacy, post office, one stop council shop available!!!
R. R.
Great fruit and veg from the market traders, but the management is trying to redevelop the market, which has resulted in a lot of uncertainty (lack of quality communication according to some of the vendors).
K. W.
Couldn't find my stab vest so I left. Grabbed a nice greggs though and survived
a. b.
A dying slice of old east end. 2 pie and mash shops. Percy Ingles and Steve's Best Sellers. Gentrification is coming fast
B. B.
Not the best market but it does the trick. Steves Best Sellers has absolutely everything and anything. Eastenders Pie and Mash Shop is the best around. Large Post Office.
b. g.
Nice and cosy market with different shops and supermarkets of interest.
P. B.
Great market well worth a visit and 2 pie and mash shops what more could you want
D. D.
I enjoyed so much that place.I eat a lot of vegiees so finding a place where i could find them spreaded in one place was really good and the price of 1pound per balls was just great.
R. B.
Very OK sort of market. Don't expect to find everything at one place. It seems quite dead to be a market. It quickly needs a lift up to keep footsteps rolling!
J. A.
Christ Street will always be home for Pie n Mash for me, Maureen’s, can’t beat it! Nice market there too!
s. h.
Best in London.. prob in the country too!
S.
Open air market so not a place to hang around when it's cold. Good place to buy vege and assorted clothing and other bits and pieces.
P. D.
Not bad for food stalls. Some clothes stalls a few shops like Iceland's - co-op - Steve's best sellers
R. Q.
Great place for shopping. Open air market as well as many shops ranging from clothes and shoes to meat and fish. Variety/pound shops also.
X. W.
This is a real market. And by 'real' I mean it's not full of the same damn t-shirts you see in every trendy marketplace East of Oxford Circus. This is a real East London marketplace with real East London shops and stalls. And an Iceland. And a Co-op. But seriously, if you want to experience authentic East London culture that strikes a humble balance between Shoreditch pretentiousness and Essex crassness, then this is your place. It's a very community-focused area so it's quite safe and friendly, and the stalls are well worth a look around. #12daychallenge
H. C.
A bit rough around the edges but you can buy some good fresh produce. It has a nice comunity feel to it.
f. G. (.
Nowhere as good as years ago but very handy all the same.

Brilliant homely place. Daily fruit and veg market makes this place feel like an untouched bit of history that has stood time.
T. t. T. M.
We were there super early and they were just setting up but from what we saw they had a good variety of products.
C. T.
Dona sao is the new place in crisps St, go and check it out!
S. A.
I have seen better markets. But this one in not too bad. Lots of Asian clothes and vegetable are found.
M. A.
Love the market and most of the shops nwed to do something about the parking
L. G.
Very popular among the residents in the area, if you are around you find supermarkets and even fresh food to eat, the square is horrible... but very useful. here you can find everything!
N. A.
Although there is a lot of things you can buy for cheap and veg Market is good, it needs a lot more organisation and finish.
S. K.
It's a multi cultural heritage there and all is found there but the Bangladeshi heritage is conveyed as it's like the mini Bicklane but market version.
E. K.
Very good
L. Y. M.
Good prices and variety of clothes, carpets and others. Although I didn't really buy anything
A. K.
It's good place for shopping. But some products might not be fresh in the market.
P. S.
It's ok. Not much to do here to be honest. Would be great when it gets redeveloped, that's if the enemies of progress and their NIMBYism stops. There are NIMBY s everywhere.
J. H.
the best pie mash shop in the east end
S. A.
Lovely typical East London market with a small selection of stalls. Great for fresh Veg!
M. M.
A ideal perfect little market with all the things you want clothes sweets pots and pans that have a little bit of everything

Great place for Vegetable shopping. Also has stores and small supermarkets in the same area.
S. V.
Local butchers, fresh fruit and veg and also parking close by for electric cars.
d. p.
You can get most things you need. Its just a little run down and smells of urine. But it is down to be redeveloped. So let's see what happens
D. B.
Mainly veg. Good variety. Market ready for make over. Salvation Army Kerbey Street, good breakfast.

Soon will be another victim of gentrification, this is a classic pound a bowl fruit and veg fiesta. Love it.
M. V.
Lovely homely bit of Poplar / East End. Good transport links with nice market vibe. Toilet blocks could do with upgrading.
S. T.
Chrisp street will always be chrisp Street with the old cockney feel to it...it's not too bad if you want to do a quick bit of shopping and has almost everything you need

An old and slightly shabby market in Poplar. I always visit Maureens a lively super friendly Pie'n'mash. That's the Highlight for sure
A. v. D.
The only reason I visit this place is plain and simply EASTENDERS PIE AND MASH AND PERCY INGLES BAKERS the actual market is filthy and not a decent stall in sight
A. R.
Grew up here love it
a. X.
I didn't not rate crisp street market 5 star, it's less than a 1 star
R. R.
Good place with a lot of essential amenities such as library, groceries, coffee shop, Iceland, Coop, stalls etc.
