Reviews of East Street Market
g. T.
Nice market a lot of fruits and vegetables at not expensive prices
I. I.
East Street market has lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, African and Caribbean food at very reasonable prices. The shops are full of male and female hair and beauty products. The traders are friendly. I do enjoy shopping in East Street market.
J. C.
My local treasure hunt spot - great choice of fresh and fruit. Fish monger well priced and stocked. Plus all the stalls with curiosities from clothes to homeware
E. A.
Plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit can find at East Street Market for valuable prices. Also, luggage is so cheap when compared to the shops.
J. a.
Very good supermarket 🛒and butcher 🍖 who cuts/weighs meat according to your choice, with lots of worldwide food 🍽️ and drink 🍹 products, big selection of vegetables 🌽🍅🍆🥒🥕🥔🍠, quite a large shop, nice staff 👍🏽😘

East Street Market is one of London's oldest, largest and busiest markets. It's just as popular now as it has been for decades. It offers a wide variety of goods, from fresh fruit and vegetables to African clothing and materials.
M.
This has always been one of my favourite markets. I come all the way to get my African spices and food. Its all there.
s.
Great atmosphere at the market. Clothes, fresh fruit and vegetables at very affordable prices.
S. S.
Nice place to shop and best is to visit on Thursday.
I went to the per shop in East Street market and he charged me 10 p for a bag that was meant to be free, the owner claims they were asked to do so by southwark council.
M. M.
Very beautiful place in the street market good foods, lovely prices of any kinds friendly where you can meet ppl with smile on their faces.
C. G. J.
Great for fruit & veg, good for almost everything else like clothes, accessories, fabric, toys etc . . .
Not all the stalls are available with the same frequency but basically food and clothing are always available, most days will have fabric, books and toys, Sundays have the amazing flea market stalls.
The few fabric stalls and haberdashery stalls have a goos selection of goods.
When the market is closes there are still loads of convenience shops, butchers, fabric shops and fast food places to enjoy.
O. A.
Visited the market there on a Saturday, good items with good cheap prices but most of the things I saw was for females, so couldn't get much
C. C.
come here for my zero-waste shopping! produce are suuuuuper cheap here so saving the environment and money!! good selection of produce, but be sure to go in the morning, as most of the shops are closed by 2pm
j. b.
A traditional street market with the majority of traders selling fruit+veg, everyday household necessities and budget apparel, catering primarily to ‘locals.’
A bustling get-on-with-it, no-nonsense, in-your-face zone, bare-knuckle prices, testy traders and curt banter.
Here, Gentrification came, saw ..........and buggered off.
T. S.
Exotic fruits. Friendly mini not over priced, stores and varieties of products
However, due to the size and amount of stores, there are bearly any social distancing but people still, thank god, wear their mask 😷 🙏
Nice weekend visit in this challenging times ☺☺👍🏾
s. I.
Open nearly all day and every day! Definitely you can count on them
F. E.
A place of varieties of home needs ranges from good foods&fruits to medium quality of electronic and fashion items at an affordable prices. I bought a Bluetooth speaker at £5 an it's even powerfu💪 than some hi-spec brands 👏👌
d. s.
I have not been in this shop but look like there are a few thing that you might not find elsewere
B. T.
I absolutely love the place so many good deals nice people
A.
Historic market. It is especially crowded on Saturdays and Sundays and you can find from vegetables and fruits to clothes. The quality is not that good but it is okay if you plan to eat some of the products right away. Prices are the cheapest I've ever seen in London (e.g. 3 avocados X £1 or 6 oranges for £1). You can also find fresh fish and several butcher stores.
B. B.
Not alot serving but still thriving lovely old place and upcoming new places best place is Arments pie n mash
S. G.
Was not market day was just passing through the local area, this area is always busy even if the market is not on. But when the market is on there are loads of bargain stalls on the long walk down to East Street Market.
H. ه.
It's a very good place to buy fruits it's really cheap and fresh.
M. A.
Great variety of products, food and higiene.
Has everything in here. Excelent
A. J.
One of the best markets ever for a great bargain and I love the spirits of the people there!
N. L.
Arrived late in the day, about 3pm but still vibrant and plenty to see and buy. Got what I came for and then some. Definitely worth a visit to stock up on fresh fruit and veg or whatever takes your fancy.
O. S.
Ice cream at Kaspas. Great Ice cream. Great Fantastic awesome Brilliant Flowers
F. B.
A market that I have seen all my life. Wonderful and usually bustling with shoppers and sellers.
The pandemic has caused the market to dry up, with only a handful of stalls with the bare basics on offer.
Thank God for their stalls which has helped to residents to have these without the prices going up.
I. E.
Typical popular street market. Been there for years. Great for food etc.
J. W.
Memory my dad always take me with children and grandchildren walk round look market our enjoyed his r.ip
M. N.
I go here weekly to buy groceries. What I love is that they sell fresh fruits in a very affordable price, like half of the prices in supermarkets. Lots of butchers provide halal meats too.
l. “. l.
It's a really good place to shop but I think that there needs to be more improvements on prices because though it goods its expensive
T. G.
Best place to get anything African. Still the best prices I've seen anywhere
L. A.
I have been visiting East Street Market for almost 30 years now and pandemic aside, it is not as vibrant as it used to be. There are fewer stalls. Nevertheless it the ideal place to go affordable produce.
B. A.
It is a very beautiful place for people to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.
K. F.
Omg absolutely amazing, the food stalls everything is very fresh and so cheap a absolutely worth a visit.
P.
An authentic local market with fresh vegetables and fruits, also with seafood, butchers shops, asian supermarkets, groceries and restaurants. A good place to get ingredients and fresh ingredients.
G. G.
The go-to for street items and designs with variety of fruit stands and affirdable price.
C.
My fave place to go for fruit and veg. You get so much for your money and there are many stalls to choose from. Plenty of other stalls for clothes and jewellery and accessories too. Lots of bargains about
T. T.
Friendly warm and welcoming market in E17, you can find all most. Everything you look mat non forgets to go to the end of the market that were the barging are not the. Woodwork end the little nicknack surprised hornet are idea mostly and see include. Many barging.
G. R.
This is where Charlie Chaplin was brought up the Baptist Church from his B&W movie is still here and the Market has the cheapest goods in all of London.
L. A.
It's was a busy place with lots of fruit seller, food seller and some other household item you want to buy. Some shops were not open to know what they are selling. But if you are looking to buy food stuff, it's a place to go.
M. S.
Most good quality but you need to watch out, some things look like they have seen better times.
Place to go if you want to shop in more sustainable way than supermarkets.
J.
Pretty cool market. Out of all, the fruits are amazing! Great quality and value for money. Would recommend you visit but only for the fruits & veg
R.
You can find fresh fruits, vegetables, and foods with cheaper price here
Y. M.
Its a cool place to get your fruit.. Veggies.. Meat.. Fish.. All edibles in short.. And other stuffs.. The variety of fruits available are amazing with different sellers.. You have the opportunity to check the the ones you are satisfied with before making your purchase
S. C.
Still trading - open air shopping. Great range of bargains to be had. Always good range of fruit & veg. Sunday has more of a car boot feel with a range of odd stalls particularly at the far end of the market. Pity that the flowers and plants stalls seem to have disappeared - hope they return soon.
A. P.
Veggies and fruits and well priced but some need to be consumed fast. Meat...I got lamb once and it wasn’t that good...plus it doesn’t look hygienic around the meat seller and a bit doggie there... veggies and fruits def worth the walk there.
J. K.
Been goin there sinve i was a child, has everything you want, groeceries, clothes, tolietries , the list goes on.
G. “. J.
No biggie
A. P.
This place is good for fresh fruit and veg. If you want to buy clothes you can do that too. Lots of random items like fidget spinners if you are in to that nonsense.
n. c.
East Street Market use to be soo good back in the days but unfortunately its changed a lot now . There use to be clothing stalls, flowers, household goods and fabric but now it's mainly fruit and vegetables. I do miss the way it use to be! It's a shame really!!
K. “. o. t. w. N. s.
Today a few more stalls out. Veg is cheaper in the supermarkets right now. But for meat lovers great butchers at the end of the parade of shops on the right. Clean quality and great service
B. I. (.
Just go here for raw food, pepper and meat shopping
P. J.
The market as changed over the years, you can get variety of food from different parts of the world, my auntie's favorite is yellow yum, also I so a nice African coffee.
D. B. (. H. E.
You'll find everything that you're looking for at this market.
C. M.
Fun market with a range of exotic products and staples
I. K.
It's a good place to shop, but the prices seem to fixed with all the traders. There is no competition.
f. c. h. b.
Fresh end affordable for eny wallet.
G. S.
If you're looking for cheap fruit and veg that you are going to consume quite quickly this is the market for you. They also have other things like clothes stalls, sea food stalls, curtains and netting, sweets and confectionary and food shops at the side. Another bonus is it has public toilets in the middle. It also has a jumble sale at the old kent road end on sundays.
F. A.
Vibrant market. Great for good value fruit and veg!
L. c.
Love it better than supermarket
D. O.
Great market and shopping centre and area to grab a bargain. Colourful marketplace and viberant melting pot and cosmopolitan area.
J. J. P.
lovely selection, huge variety, very cheap. Many vendors allow customer to choose own vegetable and fruits. Brilliant 5 stars
N. B.
A great market with cheap priced fruits and vegetables.
If you get your own bag and refuse the blue plastic bags, it is a very sustainable option.
All the vegetables and fruits are fresh from the market.
It is a great way to spend your Saturday morning.
Ps - you need to carry cash
l. A.
Very messy. Can be cleaner and neater
R. R.
Get every African and Asian food here. Best time to visit is before 3pm. No free parking and no car access so best prepare to walk
C. B.
Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits in the morning, the best goes fast so come early, it gets really busy mid day. Fresh meat and fish too. I prefer shopping here, rather than in Peckham, because it's a little better price(sometimes) and better for shopping in the terms of not needing to walk to far to get what you need. Easy to get through your shopping list quickly within an hour or less, if you know where you are going to buy what...👍🏽👍🏽😊
S. S.
East Street Market, it's a place you must visit if you're in London. This place you will have anything, just go there to see for yourself
H. P.
A typically British street market but infused with Caribbean, Chinese and other cultures too. Fruit and vegetables, plants and flowers, clothes, bags all sorts! There is also a second-hand market at the northern end of the market. No traffic. Just lovely.
J. E.
I usually buy from this market, I find it very handy because you can find many things and cheaper than the supermarket. I know most of them because I do my shopping for about 22 years, the people are very friendly and helpful in East street market .
A. H.
A bit too crowded for my liking. But very great service from everybody. Not to mention super fresh produce at amazing prices.
C. L.
Nice and clean. My only negative is the fish smell from the fish mongers. Which attracted loads of flies. I wouldn't buy fish there. Didn't look fresh at all
D. T.
Convenient to shop u get what u want at a cheaper price.
G. S.
East Street Market is very ethnic.
Has a mix of food, clothing and make up. Some stalls make no sense whatsoever, like that selling toiletries. However, is a straightforward space to negotiate running the length of East Street.
Now has a 3D overhead signage which makes the space look loved. A real London market. Sellers call out here, just as they have in markets for hundreds of years. Divine.
J. D.
Love east street market . Know so many people and they always say hello and have chat . Always something different down but it was the lane when I was a kid . With the monkey you have your phonto taken and up to sasparela love it grwT place to visit .
J. D.
Good variety of stalls, clothes, dress jewelry, food, etc
o. B.
You can get variety of goods in this market. It's also a multi cultural market. No matter where you're from, you will get a product or service from your motherland
T.
I went there on a Monday not a market day..Shops open late on such day only few shops were opened.
C. D.
One of my favourite market, everything I need is here. Butchers, green grocers, pantry stocks, clothing, home wares to name a few.
L. C.
This is rated as one of my top favourite market places within London. Of course how busy the market will be depends on the day and time you choose to shop but on a good busy Saturday this market stretches nearly the whole length of East Street boasting a wide range of different stalls offering a variety of goods! You can certainly find what you're looking for down East Street. A mix of permanent shop outlets, public toilets, cafes and chain stores along Walworth Rd does give you a good rich shopping experience. Access to the market is simple; take any bus from E&C (towards Camberwell) and buses via the Old Kent Rd.
D. S. (.
I can not have enough of this market. Everything is exciting. Most of the market street store are very friendly compared to the price they have been asking for.
There are some not that friendly stores but most are fine really.
One decent Chinese supermarker on the front end of the market, offer quite a wide selections of Asian delicacy and FRESH FISH.
Fruits and Vegs are great always follow the season.
I always take a good size wheel suitcase with me. Because everything sell in big volume, and to safe my back from potential injury.
Great place for fruit and veg weekly shopping.
Thank you East Street Market.
T. K.
No place like it, a classic... You can grab everything here and then some. Beautiful people, lovely vibe. Highly recommend.
C. “. S.
Great fruit Market @ great prices and a nice meat wagon. I go at least once a week for produce and the egg stall is good
A. S.
Cheap and good quality vegetables easily available near my home. I don't need to go anywhere to buy vegetables. On Sunday, I can also get good bargain sometimes as they want to sell all their veggies and fruits since they remain close on Monday.
Vendors are slightly rude but you still need to be nice with them. There is a fish shop which I would highly recommend buy don't remember the name.
e. a.
Easily accessible and well organised . I find vegetables cheaper at the market and most of the butcher's shops their are also neatly arrange.
H. T.
Always love East Street Market. You can get so much fresh druit and veg for a fraction of the price of the supermarket. I'm really impressed that a street market like this has persisted in central London!
There's a lot of choice!
The guy selling plants isn't there every day though. And there are also eggs for sale. No baked goods.
B. S.
Good bargain on stock fish
G. R.
One of the last great markets but time has taken a toll. Gone are the stalls with bargin clothes or offs instead, is now very much a food market of fresh produce, meat and fish
P. H.
Some of the meat shops are unkempt and smelling which must be taken care of by the authorities, some of both the fish and meat are rotten but they still sell it. It seriously dangerous to human health
J. T.
Easy access market. Shopping at East Street for 10 years now
S. P.
Cheap fresh fruit and veg. Friendly stall holders great with kids. My son and daughter often come away with gifts of fruit. Buy by weight and not from bowls unless you're going to pick over and use that day.
Д. Б.
A really rather good street market. There is always a good selection of great fruit and veg at very reasonable prices. Sour black cherries for £1.99 per kilo versus £10.71 per kilo in a local Tesco, for example. Duck eggs, some of the nicest nuts I have ever had in the UK and clothing too. A little bit of a jostle when it is very busy, but friendly traders and good produce always make it worthwhile. Traders vary days and on sunny days the market might run a little later. What you can't find in the stalls, the shops along the street probably sell.
E. I.
Weve been brainwashed into buying ‘perfect’ fruit n veg at supermarkets. You will be amazed at the great value of produce here. Quality may vary depending on time of day but you will get loads for your money. Also cucumbers and other veg are not shrink wrapped in plastic so you’ll also be saving our wonderful planet.
Also you must pay Legendary Baldwins a visit. The people in shops and stalls are so spirited and very friendly.
The place has real soul and i have been coming here since I was 3 years. Now I bring my kids.
Much love to East Street.
V. D.
Used to be a lot better but that was years ago. There's a number of different stalls that sell quite a few bits from bedding shoes purses/handbags jewellery to name but a few and they're cheaply priced
J. M.
Love this market. Friendly and some very good quality products if chosen carefully.
K. P.
Plenty fruit and vegetables and a variety of interesting stall selling clothes caps eg.
P. D.
If you need to make an all in one shopping, East Street market is your best option if you are around camberwell. Things are quite cheap here too.
A. G. (. u.
My favourite market for groceries. Fantastic butchers there and those looking for quality halal, I,ll recommend you go there. I'f you're looking for some African food/spices, you,ll find it there too
M. D. H.
Been going there for many years. One of the best markets in London that I've come across. Huge selection in daily fresh fruit and veg. Also clothes and other necessities available
B. M.
Good, busy market, can usually find the fresh fruit and veg I need
K.
Good quality and good variety of food. Has for the price very good and reasonable. I would cheap prices but you have a choice choose ur own product. So you would always go home with the best stuff.
G. E.
You can almost everything to buy here
M. H.
An old London market, not what it once was but plenty of ethnic food to keep you interested including fresh fish, veg, fruit and more. Clothes, electric things, phone accessories, luggage, everything really.
A. C.
Great selection of foods, and often can get things that are rarely found in conventional supermarkets.
O. O.
Proper working class market mainly food and cheap electrical stuff and clothing. But you have to love for it! I have given it 5 star, but some would probably hate.....gentrification is still years away!
D. C.
A variety of fruit and vegetable stalls for very cheap, definitely a good alternative to the supermarket. You can get a lot of produce for £1 only. I've gotten 5 while broccolis for £1 and 8 courgettes for £1, depends on the season for different fruits and vegetables
l. f.
East Street market is still a place I enjoy visiting but it has changed a lot, which we should all expect. I used to be able to find some great clothing there but now there appear to be more fruit & veg stalls (very cheap by the way) and less in the way of fashionable, quality clothing that I want to buy.
I. L. (. G.
I've been coming here nearly all my life again only recently I've rediscovered this place it is an amazing well placed market with everything that you need in your life
L. j. p.
Today I did my shopping around 10.30, not too busy great fruit and veggie also managed to buy a school shoes for only 5 pounds!
D. I.
East street Market is one of the Best place to do ur shopping for ur fruit and vegetables good for meat eater's and vegetarians too their are a lot of friendly people in east market in the street market or in the shop u can get whatever u are looking for there, things like clothes, shoes, top-up cards, body cream's weav-on many more
S. P.
I always go.there to get nice fruits and vegetables. Specially before closing as you can bargain the prices. They have all sorts of stuff, like clothes and electronic devices and a mini flee market
T. r. a. l.
Amazing customer service
L. Y.
It's London it's a street market how markets should be.... grab your bags and stock up on your weekly fruit and veg.... look out for curtains and bedding on some stalls.... don't forget the normal shops around as well including the fish mongers....
V. D.
There's various different stalls there where youcan oick up alot of things from curtains, fruit, clothing, shoes electricals, pots and pans to name a few. It used to be better a few years ago as in you could get a more things but it's not a bad little market.
C. P.
Colorful and delicious options on vegetables, meats, fish and fruits.
Fresh with good prices
K. L.
The East Street Market is located in East Street , Walworth. The market starts st the intersection with Walworth Road, across from the Morrisons Supermarket. This market has been around since 1880 and is still popular today. The market is open everyday except for Mondays. Usually the vendors start packing up by around 4:00pm.
You can find all manner of household goods and clothing here. The stall vendors occupy much of the road itself and to the back are the various grocery and fish monger shops.
M. A.
A good place to shop for everything, from foodstuffs, fruit & veg, meat & fish, cosmetic products like body, hair, clothing & lots more.
It a complete big shopping place for every including African, Caribbean, Asian, Europe market.
D. C. A.
Okay market. Has cheap stuff. Extremely busy. If you venture into there make sure to check a few stalls there before you make your purchase because you almost find a better deal 100% of the time
D. J.
You can get everything you need, right there,.
A. M.
Sad to say one of the few local markets left in London, Wednesday is good day to pick up clothing. Saturday/Sunday very good plants on the corner coming down from Morecambe Street. Many of the stalls have changed and you have mostly fruit and veg with mobile and computer accessories. At the time of writing you buy fresh farm eggs on Thursday and Saturday and a gem of a book stall any book £1.
M. P.
Does the job! Cheap fruit and veg + tons of other stalls such as organic free range eggs + tons of clothes stalls and othr usual market stalls. Great if you live nearby!
N. D.
Great atmosphere about this market.
Some very nice carribien food and very helpful stall holders
D. F. (.
It's open every day apart from Monday and sells most items as expected a market does.
M. G.
If you like to buy nice fruits go to East street market.
k. S.
Too little shops and more expensive now
M. M.
Nice market! LOADS of fruit and veg available and all looked to be great quality pay by weight (no £1 bowls that I could see!).
M. F.
Great market so many bargains on clothes and fabrics handbags hats and jewellery the food is super cheap for a reason only purchase if you are using it immediately it will go off very fast
C. A.
This is a street market selling fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes, household goods, shoes etc. It is on a long street with small shops on either side of the road. It's an old style friendly place that has been there for years, on a side road off the main high street that also has lots of shops.
G. w. C. D.
good for fresh produce how ever some fruit sold on the stall seem to be past best before date once u bring them home they expire..somw good local stores for fresh organic produce in the market including natural honey and dried fruit and nuts..there are some stalls selling costume jewelry handbags and men and women clothes can find some good buys there is meat shops also surrounding the market.
N. P. B.
It's a compulsory visit in London, all variety of markets in the small east street, every weekend the place is full and you could find items at a very very low prices, also you could find any place to eat good from different countrys or drink anything on any place, as I stated before is a high recommend place to visit
s. y.
East street has changed since the pandemic lockdown. The market is less busy as fewer shops and streets traders have also reduced. However there's everything I need to get.
A. K.
I like visiting the market as you can get anything that you want to buy especially fruits which are considerably cheaper than at Brixton market.
T.
I went to the hair shops in eat street and they were all amazing i got everything i needed to get and walked straight back home. it just stinks a little.
H. D.
Not as good as it used to be, but still a decent market with very good variety (from clothing and beauty shops, to fruit and veg shops and stalls) at a fantastic price not far from central. U won't get better pricing at this proximity to central London
G. H. W.
A wide selection of produce are available at very cheap prices. Just make sure you bring some strong carrier bags with you. Highly recommended and value for money.
R. S.
GREAT MARKET FOR US JAMAICAN'S.
They have about 4 stores in this market which are Jamaican and it has some good yam and other products like herbs, teas,. I get a bit annoyed when the students come here as they mess up the Jamiacan and Nigerian area and make up. But i am a Jamaican man in my 20s and there is just about everythink for me!
T. -. A.
Wonderful, East Street market is where you can buy cheap things with good value.
P. W.
Shop is very nice
A. D.
Love East Street Market the fruit and vegetables are fresh .On Thursday there is a rummage stall that sells clothes, coats ,Jackets all either new or vertically undetectable that they are second-hand.The toilets are still free and clean. The jewellery is v.good value and nail products are very reasonable.Chiltens clothes are excellent value.Check it out.
m. l.
It's a real fruit and veg market with south East London real world feel. Try nan from the tandoor bakery at the end of the stalls. I've only go on a Saturday so expect it to be quieter during the week.
J. B.
This is a traditional market with a wide variety of stalls selling lots of stuff. Its nice to shop here rather than a supermarket . Its worth going down to the end so you see all the stalls.
F. T.
Traditional street market where you can find almost anything at very cheap affordable price. Some of the food you buy there are not necessarily fresh though and there are still a few sellers who couldn't care less about customer service.
S. Q.
Very busy with sellers and shoppers
R. G.
Nothing much has changed here over the last few decades which is a plus. Wide variety of things on sale on the stalls and also the shops on both sides of the street. Parking is now an issue as the car park has been turned into flats and the surrounding streets are all pay and display. Sole reason for visiting was for the shoe shop at the Walworth Road end of the market to buy some kids school shoes.
A. V.
this is the market i go to get fruit and veg , all the stalls offering the bargain bowl full for a £1, saves a fortune compared to supermarkets , the area won't win any awards for looks . but the price is right
J. K.
This market offers fruit and vegetables at very reasonable prices. There ia also clothing stalls which might suit some. Worth a look at this other world and it is very much another world.
K. S.
Saw some good bargain here but only bought banana for cake. Definitely visiting again for those bargains.
R. L.
Was ok but not enough room for wheelchairs. Someone ran over my foot with no apology!
r. w.
Good for bargain s
D. M. V. N.
Excellent street market. Good value for money in fruit and vegetables. If you like to cook and you live near this area then you must visit this market. Happy shopping!
A. j.
Funny enough, I moved to Essex but still visit East Street Market, what a wonderful place ( market place )
s. 0.
I have to go there to but Halal meat and also end up buying fruit. The fruit is good and at very good price. The street itself is a bit run down.
R. H.
You get all that you need for food items a d more at a good price.
W.
Lots of different stalls good variety also high street has lots of shops as well.
U. P.
The broader the smile the sharper the knife. There can be bargains in this sea of daylight robbery. One of the few true street markets left in London. No place for tourists. ... with acknowledgements to Armin Shimmerman.
A. B.
Busy market with nice n cheap fruit and vegetables
Z. M.
Great place for cheap fruit and veg. We make huge savings there. Other bric a brak items there too as well as fabric, clothes and some food stalls.
M. M.
Been going there all my life, the hair shops are comparatively expensive but the fruit and veg is cheap! Not much violence or crime, definitely a walworth road landmark

Lovely place where everything you want to buy is available

Dishevelled, untidy, but great fun to wander around to see exotic food and clothing, at extremely low prices. It's cheaper than a flight to Marrakech or Lagos, although neither the weather nor the architecture is up to scratch, at least the number 45 bus stops outside, along with many other routes.
