Reviews of Sainsbury's
This place needs an upgrade. It looks tired, luckily I love Sainsbury's as a supermarket (over the others) and will continue to shop there, but this branch is below standard and doesn't have a very wide variety. There seems to regularly be empty shelves or not enough stock (at lunch time already!)
THE SAINSBURY! this place is magic, although it could benefit a change in the shelves arrangement. The reason for that is clear: there is so many more things available than what it looks like. After you picked what you need, spend a moment and take a stroll around… there’s some stationary. There is fresh bakery. There is a huge variety of munchies and sweets available if you need that. Honestly this place is like an orange tardis. Staff is amazing, I’m literally in love with all of them and special mention to the cashiers
Popped in as we were passing through the area. Didn't have the baby formula we needed, and the cost of some of the crisps (Kettle) i was going to purchase was very expensive - i found it cheaper in other high street supermarkets.
Always a great place to shop with fantastic products. Smartshop is a great feature meaning you can scan and pack as you shop and then you don't have to queue at the tills.....just load your shopping onto the Smart tills and go
Good location just ourside Holborn station and has a great selection of item within. And medium size for a supermarket. Just shame it's open hours aren't longer
Silvia did go to the extra mile and made possible that I got the sports issue of The Guardian last Saturday after being packed to return to distribution. Thank you to her and her manager that made my day. Excellent staff makes a difference!
A really big store with surprisingly small stock..Great fruit and veg stall on other side of road though!
This is a quite large local sainsbury's.
It has a very convenient location with a fantastic variety of ready to eat and a.nicely stocked salad bar that includes fresh fruit.
Also you can find cold alcoholic drinks and a good selection of chocolate boxes.
Numerous self service tills that keep the queues down.
First time going into this branch and it's actually really nice and big. Went in to grab a bottle of water but came out with a delicious fruit salad for only £1. Store was really quiet and loads of staff around to assist. No pressure to wear a mask which made the visit more comfortable.
Very good and big shop. Nice and friendly staff. Open Monday - Saturday 6am - midnight.
The food choice was wide and had 95% of the items I wanted to get. However there was someone sleeping rough outside and someone was arguing with manager and swearing at an employee however this was not there fault but they could have handled the situation in a better way.
Always ready to enjoy the various ways to shop and enjoy the multitude of food and drinks you can get there.
Always a nice selection of reasonably priced goods here, especially in the produce section.
Not a lot of choice of food for the size of the place, but okay olace to do some quick pickups
Good variety and mostly good prices. Some items can be had for a lower price at lidle.
Good selection of products. Bonus points for providing disposable cutlery and napkins at checkout
Earlier today, I went to this branch. The lady that guided me to the next nearest and available cash check out was so helpful, considerate and polite. Thank you.
The hot dishes are out of stock by 9pm. Bad.
It is the biggest sainsbury's in the area so more ranges are available. They got big bakery as well. Argos collection point is there too. It is nice and clean shop. The product availability is very good. Stuffs are very polite and helpful. Most of my recent visits didn't require queueing. The quality of the food is standard. The prices are updated regularly. Most of the promotions also available here.
Pretty big Sainsburys in a good location. Gets busy but there's loads of tills so it's not too bad.
Hot food bit at lunch and a salad bar.
They provide cutlery. The soup selection is decent.
Great little supermarket the staff are helpful and there's lots of choice
Literally 2 items in the free from section everyday, this really needs improving
Clean spacious store. Plenty of stock.
Getting better each time I visit with regard to choices and prices 👍👍👏👏👏
I love shopping here, staff so friendly and helpful
The best bread and Houmous I’ve had in a long time!
Great quality food but you’ll find almost everything costs exactly 50p more. It adds up quick. It’s definitely better than Asda, Morissons, Tesco’s, but M&S/Waitrose are better (and still more expensive).
I was a bit disappointed with this Sainsbury as it doesn't have as much as you'd hope it it had, especially for its location.
Its a large supermarket in Holborn directly opposite the tube station. Nothing more to say.
Convenient location. Shelf stocking is somewhat random. Occasionally items are missing. Frequented by some less fortunate types who have no intention of paying. Near constant presence of beggars outside main entrance.
Nice place. Clean. Good prices. You find what you need
It was nice and empty and I done my shooping smoothly. Great service from the people at the tills .
Only thing its that I was very dissapointed not to see hand sanitisers, or spray and tissue to wipe the shooping basket before use. Considering its a central london sainsbury also I saw a few people entering the story without face mask.
With all the covid situación that we are all facing, they should be more strick.
As I seen in other shops .
No face mask no entry
Super good service.
Thank you very much
Went during the lunch rush hour, there was no hot foods at the time I was there, and very little selection of anything else for a quick grab and go lunch, I ended up getting a marked down katsu chicken meal that was expiring that day... meh
A reasonable sized store in a busy part of London. Generally busy with plenty of choice for essentials and food
I liked it. In general, I think Sainsbury Locals are perhaps the best iteration on this type of outlet and operation, and they seem to consistently do a pretty good job of it. This location was no different. The place was clean and well maintained, had a good selection of all types, friendly staff, plenty of checkout kiosks as well as cashiers, and reasonably priced. All in all it was a good shopping experience and I wouldn't hesitate to shop there again. RECOMMENDED.
Convenient location for grabbing lunch during work hours, but the store seems built to cater to the lunch crowd--I wouldn't visit for a weekly shop due to lack of variety. Some low carb options for lunch would be a very welcome addition.
Not a huge fan of the check out area, so many self check out tills, and no bags in sight. Adding areas that have bags available would help a lot--rather than trying to find a member of staff to go find some for you.
They have a hot meal stand and salad bar stand but they are lacking in choices for lunchtime food offers particularly if you wish to include any confectionary or something from the bakery. The drinks options are not great either.
Hot food daily! Good selection of sandwiches. Plus they have a salad bar too. Good pricing.
Not a big store, not a bad selection of products. Has a bakery so nice pastries and a selection of fruit and veg.
This sainsburys has been alot less busy since the lockdowns started. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Caroline who my 8 yr old son adores.
Quick and convenient. They have a shopper limit in the store as it's quite small. Staff are really friendly
I like it, because it is bigger than a local or convenience, but not as big as supermarket so a lot less stressful.
Excellent location. Very convenient to have. It is surprisingly big and can get a lot of items you would find in their superstore branches.
There are number of self-checkouts, also an ATM outside the building.
I would appreciate a thumbs up if you found this review helpful. Thank you 😊
Good to grab a quick snack or to buy water etc. Saves a lot of money buying in here as the same price charged as you would be charged elsewhere in England. Can save you a lot of money on the normal extortionate London prices.
Have a lot of tills, especially self service so never queue even on a busy Saturday
Friendly, helpful staff. Small store but plenty of choice. Can be very busy but queues move quickly.
The location and size of this store is really convenient. It's size means it can accommodate more stock so you're likely going to find what you need here. However, it can get so busy that it puts me off heading down there, especially during lunch hours. The store itself is, in my opinion, laid out quite awkwardly, so making your way to certain areas feels frustrating and nonsensical. The staff could also be a little more aware, especially during lunch hours at the self-checkouts, perhaps by keeping an eye out for available checkouts that have just been vacated to keep the very busy and long line going
Very busy sainsburys. Almost stock all essentials. Checkout queue can get long but does move very fast. They do lovely hot food weekday lunch.
Well stocked .
Minimal queues
It's alright, but need to order more, cause by mid day some stuff is always gone. So wake up early to shop folks.
Well organised shop polite staff and always stocked up thanks to those night shift boys well done keep up the good work
Very friendly and helpful staff
Good shopping but check out could be better staffed. For a flagship store in London, disappointing.
Ive reviewed this store before and advised you all to avoid the franchises.
Stick to the main larger stores where bargains are available.
This small franchise is ok you have a small range of groceries and fresh hot food .
By my reckoning we pay more save for the odd bargain such as big bottles of Lucossde for £1.
The staff are courteous and hard working
It's big and probably has the item you need, It's next to many shops and is opposite Holborn station. Allot of self checkout machines and friendly staff.
Sainsbuy's local is just 1 minute across Holborn underground tube station. The shop is well organized, items properly tagged. Payment services were amazing with courteous staff to help out and many self- checkout pay points to minimize customers queues. There is also ATM outside the shop for shoppers convenient if you prefer to pay with cash. I liked the chocolate bars, fresh smoothy, sandwich and salad bought from the shop. Fair prices
Have a wide variety of options. Staff always helpful and kind
Fairly basic, mostly caters for office workers
Big store open until midnight
Accepts cash
It's a Sainsbury's. What do you expect, uniformed concierges?
So expensive
Great store, great staff
Big store with plenty of products. Could be doing with more vegan options.
The location is so convenient that there's always customers. So the owners do not need to think about nice lighting, having an range of products or being well staffed. So they don't...
Really clean and good range of produce! Super fresh fruit and vegetables!
Good... But limited products since store is located in a commercial location.
Great day
Considering Sainsburys, a has been around for a long while when I go in there to do my shopping I don't get everything I need even before covid come on Sainsbury's other supermarkets are doing a better job
Bargain City. Easiest and cheapest place to get lunch in the area. Good selection of take away food from sushi to sandwiches. Not my favourite supermarket but still very good.
Often has bare shelves (even before covid) - otherwise have a good meat selection
Always does the trick when I need something.
Gets very busy but lots of choice. Plenty of self scan tills so queuing is never an issue.
There's a hot counter and plenty on offer.
Everything one needs can be found in Sainsbury’s on a very good price. I like it that the cost is competitive because for middle-class people, it is not easy to afford everything you want to. Here you can choose from the many, many things what you can or can’t afford and after 2-hour searching and comparing prices, you are on the register with so many tasty things in your bag and not such a big check like you would receive somewhere else....
Lots of choices at affordable price!
Good enough for the general groceries but if you're looking for something a little different this isn't the best store
Well stocked and a fairly good range for a Local. Plenty of self serve tills. Staff are helpful. Only problem with the Locals is you don't get the bonus coupons at the till.
i go here all the time it's reasonable when you want something i guess they don't always have everything i mean they stopped doing my favourite dessert so i have to go to the one around 3 minutes away ......
Nothing wrong but nothing great either really. It's busy but you will pick something up for a quick lunch or snack. Is what it is really...an express shop aimed at quick customer turnover.
Large for a central London corner shop, small for a supermarket. Always a bit of a mess as they struggle to keep up with a high number of low value shopping trips. But very handy and I like it
You can see London tower bridge when you eat delicious food in here
Imagine giving a supermarket 5 stars. The only reason I did was because the chap in front of me in the queue started chatting! Talking to a stranger in a central London shop! Unheard of. It quite made my day.
Medium sized, actually relatively large for this part of London, this supermarket has most things that you'd be looking for. Can get very busy with long queues, although there are many self service tills. Plastic cutlery available. There is a hot food section with chicken pieces, curry/meal boxes and other similar hot foods.
I passed by this branch on my way to the British Museum. All the walking left me parched and I needed a water bottle to quench my thirst. The staff are friendly and the quick self'checkput is fantastic.
Crowded, badly laid out supermarket - OK selection of goods but the flowers I bought two days ago had to be thrown away within 24 hours as they'd wilted. I also think the quality of their fruit and veg isn't up to much. Best used in emergencies.
Quite efficient queue management; the hot food counter and salad bars are a bonus. Staff are friendly and helpful - cashiers especially do make the extra effort.
Speedy Self-serve checkout services and a good range of non-food and groceries.
Very friendly staff and good selection of food xxx
I filled two bags in Sainsbury's at Holborn after failing to find what I wanted in Holborn Waitrose. Sometimes size does matter.
A good store however it can get very tight when moving around the isles. This is partially down to the number of visitors but I believe that the width of the isles also plays an important role.
Much better than the Fetter Lane one! How on earth are their (JS Sainsbury's) headquarters above the store and that branch is so f'ing poor?!
This branch, Holborn, is fine. Airy, good staff and a good selection of goods.
Convenient. Good prices. Great hours. As an American in London, I was concerned about food prices. No need. I think Sainburys is cheaper than at home.
You might be asking yourself, who the f*** takes time to review Sainsbury's? Well I did. Overall good size, there's a salad bar and hot food if you fancy that instead of a meal deal, though I went there looking for a lightbulb. There is a lightbulb section highlighted on one of those banners, however it isn't where the lightbulbs are. They're just round the corner. It took me 5 minutes to figure it out, but that's not Sainsbury's fault, it's mine. 5 star experience
Large variety for such a central location. Was able to source lots of food/snacks for a birthday party some time ago. Has a salad bar.
Good place for food and drinks...
Fairly big, and central, with plenty of manned and self-service checkouts, but not somewhere I would want to spend my day off.
Pretty poorly stocked - limited options. Many items always out or missing. Freezer is constantly broken. Staff is mostly friendly.
The security was very vigilant, escorting out some young mens who doesn't wear mask!!! Congratulation, well done !!! 👍
The market was very big
And you can find any thing easily in this Sainsbury
Big store with plenty of products. Could be doing with more vegan options.
Decent selection, but if you want anything out of the ordinary you're out of luck as it's just a Sainsbury's Local. Expect huge queues at lunchtime although they're fast moving.
We used this grocery store during our stay in Holborn. Staff helpful, fully stocked. I really like that you can buy liquor in grocery store unlike in the US
I do love a Sainsbury but the price is becoming too expensive compared to others.
no issues all good. nice and clean staff polite
Yh good hot food wen on the go in the city.
Like this Sainsbury's so very much. Staff at this place r helpful kind and polite ready to help at any time even if they r busy with their own work. Keep the good work.
Theatre is great!
they have not only self-checkout kiosk but also clerk for cash buyers. Sainsbury is like a big super-market (between E-mart and E-mart everyday)
Excellent place to buy a lot of products, fresh vegetables, meats, chicken, fish, I love to but there.
great supermarket! has a range of products.
friendly approachable staff.
many many locations both in central cities and around suburb areas. great parking facilities.
food from all over the world.
Great place to shop at very reasonable prices for the area.
I was there to collect an Argos order, they were very fast and efficient.
Sainsburys you will find everything you need all under one roof
All groceries are more expensive comparing the same items at Lidl and Aldi.
Very good easy to get too
Nice big sainsburys local, with everything u need and plenty of self checkouts
This Sainsburys Local realy good. Lots of options for lunch freshly prepared pastas fruits salads on very reasonable price and many more variety of food.
Busy store due to it being located centrally in Holborn area. Love the hot food & salad section in store which means I can get a healthy decent lunch for under a fiver.
Big store open until midnight
Good store, good size even when it's In central London. Fresh Bakery products are great. Especially freshly baked almost croissant
The vegetables section has more choice especially on Saturday morning..quality is good for vegetarians. Law
Only Popped in to buy for something to eat on the train, but plenty to choose from and quick checkout service to.
Very friendly customer service. But, some items were not available even during midday.
Very big Sainsbury's for a local, they have great produce and great staff. Really well stocked up shelves.
Odd store, bigger in size than any others in the Holborn area, but some things they have less options than the smaller stores. I often find shopping in the small ones on High Holborn easier.
Their covid 19 restrictions were very well enforced. The staff were friendly and it was very well stocked.
It is great place to get a sandwich or salad when you are working locally
Don't be scared if you find a big queue during the rush... the service is superfast!!! Love sainsbury's hot food and here you can find a wide range of products.
Have a wide variety of options. Staff always helpful and kind
I normally stop this supermarket on my way to / from the West End. Good choice of produce and plenty of self service tills.
Fairly basic, mostly caters for office workers
It's a medium sized supermarket. What else do you want me to say?
It is near Holborn tube station, which is very convenient.
The self checkout is great. Store layout easy to navigate and find what you need.
Good sized and in a very good location. No queues and with a lot of options. Sainsburys has good prizes as well. It is with Tesco my favourite option in London.
Good and Big shop.
It's a Sainsbury's. What do you expect, uniformed concierges?
Decent store with a good range.
Pleasant staff, fast service, big store
Goood for a quick shop. They do hot food there to if you want a hot meal for lunch
For a convenience store it has a great range, good location. Always busy, but the queues move really quickly.
Great super market
Okay but they seem to have changed stuff around and not bothered with the signage.
Convenient location and opening times. Friendly staff. Good for Argos click and collect.
I love Sainsbury stores, especially when they have deals on my favourite products, like the rums
Adequate branch but somewhat confusing in layout. I had difficulty locating the bread section, it was in a corner and this branch favours self check outs.
Just what you need amongst all the smaller Sainsbury’s Locals and Tesco’s. Absolute lifeline when staying at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Helpful staff and always buy something there lol
Had everything I wanted quick service
Decent large Sainsbury's in the heart of central London
Good size Sainsbury’s, not a great selection of vegan meals for all you non meat eaters.
Big store , I got normal produce and bought fresh cooked hot food there but didn't eat it that myself although the hot food seemed fine
Bit crowded at times but otherwise alright for a quick shop or even a slightly more major one.
Very good.
Lots of self check outs so even if there is a large queue, you can make a purchase quickly
I go there every week, but their not a convenient as tesco where I can park.
Great supermarket with excellent range of products
Convinent, good staff, just a little small if you're looking to do a full shop but other than that it's grear.
Good store selection. A little difficult to find some items due to layout
Nice local city store open to midnight mon - sat.
Has most things you could need.
Good selection of foods, especially vegetarian and vegan foods. Really nice friendly staff
A well stocked medium sized store. Good for lunches (hot and cold) and a basic groceries.
Good place for tourists to pick up a sandwich lunch which can be eaten while sitting in Russell Square park or in the grounds of the British museum
Everything that you can expect at a Sainsburys local shop. But mind you, since this is in central London, some prices are 5-10% higher than bigger Sainsburys branches.
Decent selection but the layout of the shop is difficult to navigate and it's routinely extremely busy, making for a generally less-than-fun experience.
Kind of like cvs for us in the states. Very nice people and they seem to have loads
I shop here almost every day, great location, very nice and helpful staff.
Its good convenience local store for basic stuff & some good deals on snack/drinks.
Fully stocked but no staff on the floor but this was a Saturday night.
great location to grab a lunch, their salads don't look great but hot food is really great.
Your standard Sainsbury's, good for lunch, has many options including a salad bar and hot meals
Only really use it for the salad bar which is always being topped up. Staff seem friendly and helpful
I needed a meal deal, couldn't afford Holborn prices to have a quick bite to eat , and there it was Sainsbury Local
Hot food always available..the best is steak and potatoes slice
Large Sainsbury's in central London. Size is similar to a Tesco Metro. Slightly smaller. Lots of self checkouts. Staff are usually busy.
It takes very well who will stay in London for a few days. Good bakery, snacks etc.
The vegetables aren't always fresh but there is generally a good range of foods
You get what you need, fresh and tasty, economic prices, friendly staff
I love Sainbury; because you can find nice fresh food dear
Christopher was very helpful and nice. He found for me what I was looking for in a very fast way.
Really good convenience store, pretty much everything you would need day to day
A bit more expensive than other Sainsbury's but very good variety and location
Busy Sainsburys opposite the Holborn tube station, friendly staff, very fresh produce and ready to eat food options
Staff are great. Shop just needs to have all the stock all the time really
These guys are the only option for early shopping in Holborn. Fresh pastries and fast service
Not many sainsbury's organics in the shop. But it's a busy one
A very nice salad bar. Helpful and friendly staff as well!
Lovely
Easy shopping and enjoyed the self service counters. No queues
Bad fruit, non existent sausage selection but staff are helpful and tills are quick
Great Shop! You can find everything in here. Good Service and fair prices
Great shop with lots of choice. Good prices for central London
It is a normal shopping mall similar to others. Usual items / stuff could be found here. It convenients tourists & locals to buy their things here.
Very very busy - took a while to find the end of the queue. Given how long it was it moved very quickly
We got some drinks there. Big shop, lots of fresh food
Accepts cash
Superstore with vast range of products and helpful staff. Enjoyed shopping here !
Grocery Store to fulfil all your eating desire and your family home requirements in London n Europe.
Excellent choice, reasonably priced good protection from COVID
Good range of fresh foods, visit regularly and never disappointed
Fairly large, has hot food section and a salad bar.
Good quality stuff even Sainsbury's basics which are great when u have kids
Easy layout quick moving service that's all you need.
Very busy during almost every time of the day. Sometimes the things you are looking for are out of stock.
Great store, great staff
Nice quiet riraff free store.
Awesome £3 deals with a main, drink and chips provide insane value for the poor student!
It did not have everything I wanted but overall good
Popped in here just fancying something to snack, it's not a big store so was not surprised to find not much selection.
Not too many vegan products 😭 some more vegan quorn products would be much appreciated.
Nice small store has the usual bits office workers need. I use Holborn store
Great store. Plenty of tills for a fast service.
Full of drunken students, party goers and the odd office worker not wanting to go home
Or at least it was when I visited late at night.
Friendly staff and nice variety of products.
Hot food counter and salad buffet are great. Can get very busy though.
Excellent location and it has a wide variety of ready to eat selection.
Decent sized Sainsburies for Central London. Right next to the tube station. Usually quiet busy there
My local supermarket when I am at work in the City. Located opposite Holborn Tube Station.
Ok
Big store lots of choice bargains near closing time!
Idea local shopping if you work in Holborn. Also good for your quick lunch sandwiches
A good store but the bakery is not so fresh and a lot of goods.
They have a good variety of meat.
Am glad I went. Friendly assistance from the shop floor and 10/10 customer service at the till.
It has a salad bar, which is a great lunch option
It is quite big on the inside but the opening hours are a bit inconvenient on a Sunday
There is always a good selection, and fast service. Well located place.
So expensive
Just a good grocery, has everything.
Good
Awesome supermarket, lots of things, still not accepting contactless though.
Good range, but always lengthy queues at the checkouts.
An OK branch of Sainsbury's.
Lots of variety, good location. Perfect for saving a bit of money on vacation.
Nice tidy supermarket where you find everything for any budget 😊
Clean store but has a really odd layout
Excellent customer service Bianca John and amazing staff
Super efficient- quick shop in these busy times.
I love it I love being around my customer's and I enjoy my job
Late night visit good location if staying in nearby Travelodge. Cold beer yey
Roll round good supermarkets lots of choices give it a go
Good size but toilet isn't very nice!
Basic sainsburys but is open late Sunday which is great as everything else is closed.
Really helpful staff & surprisingly large selection for central London
Good
One of best place to get food on my home from work.
You can find nearly everything here and the prices are generally good.
The shop wasn't busy, checkout was quick.
For a local sainsbury it's well stocked
Terrible service
Easily you will find everything you need, like food, soft drinks etc.
Weird choice of stock but convenient location.
Nice but fewer staff.
Not open on Sunday morning, why
It was a lovely and warm evening.❤
Big sainsbury's are cheaper than small sainsbury. Bye
Everything you need. Good range of soups which is handy.
Buy your dairy products here! Very good quality.
Poor selection of alcohol & soft drinks
Loved shopping here with everything you n
They're providing a vital service in tough times
It's just sainsburys normal place no complaints here!
Decent range for a central London supermarket. Friendly staff
Always a good place to shop and never too busy.
Very convenient supermarket selling hot food as well
Close to my workplace an it has everything
I need.
Big queues for self service checkouts. A bit gloomy.
Exactly the same as every other Sainsbury's across the country.
Typical large Sainsbury's, with all the Sainsbury's products and services available, except a car park!
lt's big and good market. You can find whatever you want.
Extremely busy convenience store.
Nice supermarket - conveniently located.
Always busy buy good selection of items.
Nice experience. Warm and professional staff
Layout of stuff is a bit confusing but usual sainsbo local fare.
Can get super busy but will provide most requirements for everyday needs
They keep moving things around so I can not find things so constantly have to ask or shop elsewhere
Shelves full. Staff helpful
Large one! Very nice staff!
Can't complain, had everything you would expect in a supermarket
Very polite and respectful staff
Good for a quick lunch. But very busy!
More respect from the staff. To the customers.
Excellent place, excellent people, excellent staff.
Just went for a parcel
Convenient location. Expensive for a supermarket.
Large selection of all foods you could want; alcohol is way overpriced
Quite a large Saint where you can get all your basic sandwiches
Small and speedy, can't expect big range
Basic grocery store. Purchased sandwiches and other food items at decent price.
Average
Reasonably priced, good choice of food
The fresh salad and fruit section is nice.
A large selection, bit pricey but it is Sainsburys and in central London
