Reviews of Taj Stores
P. S.
Great place to find South Asian groceries. The name is a little misleading as apprently it's mostly a Bangladeshi store but you'll find all the indian food and condiments than any other store.
The prices are ofcourse expensive. A 40 inr thing is priced at £2.99 for example but that's everywhere as these goods are being imported.
I'm glad I was able to find all of the things I've been looking for.
S. P.
Best south Asian grocery store in Greater London. Especially if you’re from Bengal, this is perfect since Taj stocks both Indian and Bangladeshi faire, unlike other North Indian and South Indian stores. You get everything for the staples to fresh water frozen fish to paan and jorda. The only real option for bengalis from either side of the border.
J. H.
We love shopping at Taj! They got us thew the first lockdown with flour, yeast, eggs and toilet paper. Lots of spices available. Big shop with a fresh butcher, fresh veg, household items and more
T. Y.
Great helpful staff. Regular groceries plus Indian/Bangladeshi foods and bits and bobs too. (As at 1st May 2021 ... you can buy Indian mangoes including Alphonsos here!). RECOMMEND.
S. K.
Very nice Indian grocery store with veggies and halal meat. Clean, big and variety is there. Staff is polite and helpful. Price is also nominal.
A. S.
5/5 for the variety of products they keep. If you are coming from India & miss any of the India centric stuff that you cudnt get in the UK, this is the place. Everything from bathing bucket to desi ghee to sattu is available here.
The food quality is a bit questionable though. Also the price. Bought some namkeen from the place & it feels they are tad too old. Cudnt find expiry date on the items either. Worth checking expiry while buying the products.
M. F. I.
If anyone is looking for Bangladeshi flavor in London, should go there to shop Bangladeshi Spices and ready mixes.
J. J.
Great selection of items but prices bit deep compared other rivals. Staff could do with some knowledge about the stock they sell
N. L.
Taj has amazing fresh produce not found in typical stores like Tesco. Crates of oranges from Valencia, mangoes from Egypt, lemons from Peru. Truly a gift.
C. W.
Unrivalled selection of spices and other ingredients in big bags at reasonable prices. Staff are helpful at locating items. I love their coarse semolina (see photo). A great shop!
n. d.
Great Indian, Bangladeshi and Asian grocery store. The staff are super friendly and the places is always kept tidy and clean.
Q. A.
The customer service was amazing, staff were very kind and helpful. They have a wide range of products from basic necessities to international spices and herbs. They are the only supermarket I go to as they have freshly picked fruit and veg and never disappoint as they are one of the few to have seasonal fruits available straight away. The cleaning standard are also very high and would recommend my family and friends to shop there. Everything they sell is HALAL too!
b. a.
Great store which caters to most needs. If you don't know what you're looking for the staff are very helpful and friendly. I go there for everything from coconut milk to hair oil. If you're in the area its worth a look around.
N. P.
The customer service is exceptional! They were really helpful when I asked for help looking for an item. The staff are kind and have a positive vibe. Love the range and quality of fresh food they offer and would definitely recommend people to shop from here.
S. A.
Very pleased with the quality of their fruits and vegetables and the variety of food they offer..the spice section is a whole different level! The staff were really polite and so helpful as well! Highly recommended.
h. q.
Amazing customer service . They were extremely helpful when I needed help looking for something , staff were also very pleasant and polite from when I entered the shop to when I left. They are great for buying fresh quality food and other products. Highly recommend to go here.
S. A.
Me and my parents go to this shop for all our grocery shopping. Everything there is 10/10 and very happy with the customer service they provide. Lovely staff, always clean, and quality food sold.
Y. A.
It’s a good place for all Indian spices and groceries. They even have MDH
P. K.
I am an Indian and I visit this shop every week atleast twice, u get everything a to z, one stop for all indian groceries.
A. J. (.
Very good collection of Indian groceries. Special mention about the fish and meat collection.
c. g.
I given the 3 star because store maintained cleaned and tidy. But rates are high compared to Tesco, Lidl, Iceland and other stores.
And one more important that they keep the expiry products, they don't even check that product is expired or not, unless until we inform them. So please check the expiry date before buy any products.
Except this 2 things all other ok👍
A. J.
Love the guys working there, they are always friendly and helpful. The shop has a good assortiment, fair prices on most of the products, it is clean. I like the fact they also have a lot of organic and vegan products and diverse "exotic" stuff to try. Missing a bakery section with some fresh breads . Good choice of essential food you can buy from anywhere. Be careful, vegs and fruits overpriced (i.e. 2-3 times more) and missing price tags
L.
I've been here a few times and the service has always been nothing short of amazing! Shame I don't live in the area anymore otherwise would have been a regular.. But with that said whenever I come Bricklane, a vist to Taj Stores is a must! Amazing product at fair prices
A. P.
One of the best Indian grocery stores i've been to i cannot fault it! I would give it a 10/10 if i could particularly due to its fantastic hospitality and friendly staff members.
A. E.
What's a pleasant shop and it's always nice and clean. And they stock everything their poultry section does not smell like other places staff are always happy to help. Trust me I have moved location many times and this place has to be one off the cleanest and professional places out there. Only downfall just 2 cashiers and it does get busy but I kind of understand they want only the owners to be on the till. Which is perfectly fine. But when it does get busy they do try really hard to move off the customers. But sometimes it is hard. Would defo come here and shop again if I moved back to london.
O. B.
Great store - clean and great variety of products
Z. M.
Amazing customer service with very helpful staff. All products are at a very high quality with a very wide range of products. Pleasant experience to shop here and is well organised.
Z. c.
Taj is one of the best stores I have ever been too and has many quality products you may not be able to find in other shops. Also the customer service was excellent and I would definitely recommend going there.
W. A.

I.
Good place to get groceries from across many countries like India, Bangladesh , Pakistan, China, etc. They have a good produce. The prices of products is moderate. You can get a variety of rice, flours, lentils , veggies, pickles, etc here. We bought few regular grocery otems feom here and they were fresh.
S. C.
Taj stores is my one stop shop for all my Indian cooking ingredients need. The store is big and well stocked and have quite a variety of Indian spices/lentils/snacks. This place is wheelchair accessible as well as opposed to most of the other Indian grocery stores I've visited in London. The guy at the billing counter is very sweet as well. I am not sure if they have frozen Haldiram goods or not but other than that, I don't think there's anything they don't have.
M.
THEY SELL KURKURE AND ITS SO CHEAP.
R. A.
Shop is very nicely set out with lovly fresh veg in the froñt of the store. Staff are also very friendly and nice. Lost a star because the price is too much compared to other similer store.
A. R.
The store is huge, and has pretty much everything you need in terms of Indian spices and snacks. I was not very happy with their vegetables. Most of them looked unappealing and there wasn’t much of a selection. Next time I decided to go to Bangla Town, a grocery store that is a mere 2 minute walk from there and has virtually everything including fresh veggies and fruit.
N. Y.
This store offers everything I need to cook my favourite Indian dishes. You can find a large variety of Asian herbs and spices here, as well as some very rare vegetables, that you can not find anywhere else. Reasonable prices, always prompt service. Definitely recommend.
K. M.
What can I say. A small family business turned into an international supermarket. You can almost find every Asian food products here.
They have halal meat/fish counter. Great selection of vegetables. Unique products they sell that you won't find at any other supermarkets. They have more product lines compared to nearby Tesco Metro. Open 7 days a week.
They take card payments (£10 minimum) and cash. They have 24 hours cash machine.
You'll find Indian desserts. Indian imported drinks such as ThumsUp. It would be good to add 7up Mojito drink to selection. Can be imported from France.
Clean supermarket where you can find your everyday essentials.
One good thing about Taj Stores... If you cannot find what your are looking for, then show it to them and they try their best to add it to their product selection.
They are up to date with current trends such as vegan food.
As with all Asian shops, check the dates as you may come across out of date or date missing from packaging. Spices for some reason have all dates scratched out. Bit weird as they seem to have good due diligence.
They will however need to improve customer service and how they treat their staff's in front of customers. Heard very upsetting stories and then witnessed it myself.
T. N.
Nice Bangladeshi store. Good selection of stuff. Had shofree and star fruit. Latter I haven't seen in years. Prices are okay and there's a butchers inside.
m. R.
We get almost all the indian stuff's there
G. A.
Large selection of herbs and spices. Only drawback is you need to spend £10+ to use your card.
N. B.
Super helpful! I popped in to get some spices, and left with everything I wanted plus some. I didn't get the feeling the store clerks were chefs, but they knew enough to put together the ingredients i needed for a banging dinner.
R. M.
Very pleased with my visit to Taj Stores, the fresh products was at very high quality as well as the service provided by the staff.
S. D.
For people looking for Indian groceries Taj stores Brick lane is a very good option. They have practically every thing required for Indian cooking. They also keep Indian vegetables which may not be available at UK stores.
S. M.
The best Bangladeshi supermarket! Full of spices and rice and all things nice to make curries and other exciting dishes. Amazing unidentifiable fresh produce! Smells like incense. Music to match.
N. A. A.
Not much more to be said about this legendary shop, it’s got almost everything that you need (especially if you are Asian) and I have been shopping here since I moved to the area. The only thing I would say needs improving is the way the meat is bagged up (is it possible to use a more sanitary method than plastic bags?!)
S. S.
Visited here to get supplies to make a curry at home. Had absolutely everything you could ever want, to cook any curry! Friendly service, not overly expensive, and interesting to look round.
G. W.
This large Asian supermarket is a good spot for eastern staples spices fresh vegetables and some homewares , avoid the aluminium cookware .
W. H.
Great customer service and so many amazing products available from around the world. No need to shop anywhere else!
p. h.
This store has everything you need. It has saved me more than a couple of times on the weekend when something was missing from the pantry. The variety of products is just huge. The staff is very friendly as well.
R. M.
An absolute treasure trove of spices, fresh and frozen food, cooking utensils and Asian groceries. It's got a lot of character, wide aisles so it's easy to move around and very polite service.
N. T.
Recently moved to Hoxton, so happy to finally find an Indian grocer locally for all my curry needs!! Staff were really helpful and accommodating to my requests! Shop closes for prayers, so make sure you time your visit!
S. B.
Slightly expensive but got a great collection of India and Bangladeshi articles. However, the staff at the cash till are not always polite.
A. A.

S. C.
I've been going to Taj Stores every couple of weeks for the past 4 years and I always find the store clean, friendly, well-stocked and exactly what I want from a shop really. I'm not sure what others are moaning about with their 1 star reviews and citing 'poor customer service'I've never experienced anything less than 4 stars at Taj Stores.
S. R.
Decent Indian store in London. They have a lot of variety of dals, nuts, rice etc. You can get Sona Masoori rice here which is quite difficult to find in London. All in all, a good place to go if you want to stock your kitchen with Indian staples.
A. E.
A huge variety of stock. If you want it, they've got it. Parking situation is the only negative aspect I can think of.. But I still don't mind. I'm always there for big shops, special occasion cooking, party catering needs etc. Love it!

(Translated) Strolling around Brick Lane, I stumbled upon this large Asian goods store. As soon as I entered it was love at first sight. In fact, it was the first time that I had seen a shop outside Asia so stocked with all the Asian goodies. So I went for the spices, here present in an exaggerated number, contained in packages of all sizes and different brands (not the usual two notes found in all similar stores). The particular thing was that they did not come only from India, but also from many other Asian and Middle Eastern countries (I was also able to find the petals of Damascus roses!). Also noteworthy is the choice of pots and pans (I immediately noticed the pot for making Idli at a low price, difficult to find in Italy if not at an exaggerated cost), as well as Asian soaps, toothpastes and household products. Seeing the 20 kg Tilda rice packs at a ridiculous price made me want to go back to Italy with a truck ... The fruit and vegetable department is also very large, really well stocked (I managed to find small bananas Asian with an unmistakable lemon flavor savored with taste in Cambodia!). Also to underline the kindness of the owner. In short, the next time I come to London I will certainly not fail to visit this splendid shop!
