Reviews of The Food Hall

This store is comfortabley situated amongst other interesting stores and restaurants in Turnpike Lane. I'm amazed by the range of produce they stock. If you enjoy preparing your own Indian cuisine, then this place is a real delight. They have a vast range of herbs, spices, nuts, pulses and rice. Outside there are fresh vegetables. Inside there is available and helpful staff.

VERY GOOD PLACE FOR DOMESTIC SHOPPING. HAS INTERNATIONAL INVENTORY INDIA, MID EAST AFRICAN AND GENERALLY STOCK ALL. NOT PRICEY AND FRESH PRODUCE. WORTH A VISIT

Been going here for years and years. An icon of Turnpike Lane. In terms of Indian/Asian grocery, if you can name it they will have it! Could be a bit pricey at times but that's acceptable as a specialist store offering good quality and service. Always be aware of parking in TL. The wardens are notorious and the restrictions are crazy!

The only place I could find dagar na phool. Five stars for that alone but I also bought the longest grain basmati I've been able to find here too.

One of the best Asian stores in North London. You'd find pretty much everything here. Spice aisle is very crammed. Limited vegetables out at the front but to tell you the truth they are very fresh compared to other Bengali (I'm a Bengali myself) and Indian stores on Turnpike Lane.
We buy our spices, herbs, Chutney, spice packets (Shan, Laziza), Ghee, dessert tin (Wakefield's Mango flavoured custard) and Ahmed and other brands Jelly (whichever is on offer or available) as it's extremely hard to find Halal or veggie friendly jelly from the mainstream superstores.
Negative: No parking space. Hikes prices during Ramadan/Eid ( it"s not just them so can't blame them) Couldn't buy Nido because of the rise in the price. It's usually £2.99 for 400g.

Visiting Mauritian shops good selection. Fish stall is good with wide selection. Also small take outeat in shop offers usual Mauritian fare

The best! Excellent variety and quality dried spices, etc and fresh fruit and veg. It's where I buy our mangoes for mango chutney. Wonderful staff.

If you live in North London this is the place for all your ethnic food and vegetable shopping.
Prices are very competitive.
Service is always fast and efficient.

Have been visiting Food Hall since the 90's. It has such a good variety of things I want and their price is reasonable as well. If you are looking for bigger bags of dhal and rice they have it. I buy Pan Pasand sweets, Supari mixes, they have a huge variety of pickles, mithai, Dabur Toothpastes & different ayurvedic health and beauty supplements and Mysore & Medimix & other soaps. Amazing variety. Indian Vegetables and fruit outside. The staff are very nice too. Still my favourite shop for Indian groceries.
T. K. T.
From fresh to dry to frozen, You can get an enormous variety of products under one roof, for a reasonable price.
Extremely friendly staff My favourite place to shop for desi products.

Everything you could possibly want. Don't buy your spices in the supermarket - they are fresher and cheaper here.
M. B.
Good old faithful. The food hall has stuck around since before I was born and has continued to stock those things you just cant find anywhere else. A large and varied selection of all sorts of Indian spices, treats and whatsits.
The staff and owners are also very friendly and helpful. Sometimes you have no idea what an Indian spice is called in English and vice-versa, so it really helps.

YOU MUST VISIT! Great for your spices. They have huge selection of spices, Pulses and pickles and other ingredients you would need for your speciality dishes. The staff are helpful and usually will carry heavier items to your vehicle. Prices are very competitive and different brands have different prices so make sure you look properly. They have frozen pastries and they also have Asian beauty products on sale. They also have Indian snacks!

The place to get South Asian spices and stuff. The only one I see in this area dominated by turkish and Eastern/ Central European supermarkets. No butchers here sadly. It's your average South Asia supermarket . Nothing special but Special as the only one in this area. They have offers with can food. Good prices. For women they have large beauty section of high quality things to make you look Bollywood actress!

Been shopping in this shop since 1989, they are still best.
Z. B.
Great store, Great staff have all types of Asian spices and also frozen. Best range of Zulekha's frozen bites, kebabs and samosa.
I. M.
Good selection for your Indian cash and carry, stocks vary, so you might not always find the not so common items.
You'll need to check their delivery days sometimes.
Tills can be a bit slow at times, but it's easily the best one stop shop for all your South Asian cooking needs.
Stocks a good amount of Oriental ingredients too.
Since the refurb it's a much more pleansnt shopping experience.

I take my mother who is now 80 and loves going to this place for all her essential and non essential Asian supplies. One time I recall she was out of breath and they could see she was tired. Without hesitation the lady on the till asked another member of staff to fetch a chair from the the stock room. It was brought out so that she could sit down whilst we packed all her shopping. Every occassion I have been there the service has always been friendly and polite. The range of goods on offer is vast and fresh fruit and vegetables are good quality. I highly recommend a visit but oarking can be a challenge so go early and find a space.
B. S.

A large range of Asian, Mediterranean & Caribbean foods, spices & ingredients on offer at keen prices. Staff are friendly and it's the sort of shop you go into to buy something you know you want but emerge much later with a lot of other interesting things you're keen on trying.

A supermarket for all the things you can't get in Tesco, Sainsbury's etc. Looks ramshackle, but inside is an unrivaled array of herbs, spices, grains and pulses. Good fresh fruit and vegetables out front. No bakery. £10 min spend card policy, so take cash if you're not buying much.
A.
